All right, so welcome back to the show. And by the way, again, too just keep the feedback coming i like and appreciate it so much
many fans out there especially when we recently had lee steinberg from steinberg sports so make
sure again you go to eliancer.com to check out past episodes at eliancer.com what it must feel like to score at least one touchdown in the NFL, let alone many others.
And we're going to talk with our next hero, Terrell Davis, NFL pro football player from 95 to 2001, Denver Broncos, Pro Football Hall of Fame,
and we're going to find out what he's doing now.
But Terrell, I just want to get right into it.
First of all, in regards to, I mean, they call you TD,
and they call you it with good reason and stuff.
Talk to us about the feeling of the difference.
I always wanted to know this.
Never asked a pro football player this.
The difference
that it feels like when you're in high school scoring a touchdown versus in the almighty NFL
scoring a touchdown. It's a big difference. High school is fun. High school is cool.
Thousands of kids score touchdowns in high school, but not many guys are able to score touchdowns in the NFL.
I think that's that's the big thing about it. And there's no guarantee.
I mean, you could be on a two yard line, one yard line and still not be guaranteed to score.
So it was always fun. It was always a pay to pay dirt.
It was always a payoff to get into the end zone and most players would
tell you that that that's what that's their dream you know to get into that end zone and
uh try to score touchdowns every week and i was fortunate enough to to have scored a few of those
oh yes you certainly did how do you stay though so mentally focused on what's going on especially
with all the stuff that everybody has going on in their life. Then you're, you know, at the game.
And how do you stay focused?
You just have to, you know, you just have to just kind of, as they say,
don't listen to the noise.
You can't be a part of the distractions.
You know, there's natural distractions.
Your family, you love them a whole lot, but they can become a distraction.
And to me, it was just, you know, focus on the main thing.
Make the main thing the main thing.
And that was football. That was playing the game.
We're actually not playing a game because football to me, I don't play with football.
It's a business. And I was very serious about football.
And so I had to had to put my priorities in order and football was number one.
And anything else that took away from that focus, I just had to get rid of.
that took away from that focus, I just had to get rid of.
I mean, yeah, you've had an absolutely phenomenal career with it.
And I want to get into now what you're doing next, which is Drink Defy.
Talk to us about that.
Yeah, I'm pretty excited about this.
This is a company I co-founded.
It's called Defy.
It's a performance brand.
We launched in 2019 and we have, you know, alkaline water that we're rolling out pretty soon with nine point five pH levels in it.
And we're pretty excited. We have a campaign actually actually behind that called Hydrating Humanity.
And with all that's been going on with the covid, all's been going on with social injustice, we're really putting our efforts behind
that to make sure that we include more people into the business and to be able to give back
to those communities that have served us for many, many years. But on top of that, our performance
brand really is designed to allow people to feel better about their day, help them be able to
accomplish things that they may not have been able to accomplish before. You know, for me personally, physically, I was beat up and
until we started really formulating our products and using those and now I feel like a spring
chicken again, you know, I'm back at my plan weight, I'm exercising, feeling good. And so
life is good. Well, you look healthy. Can you give us a pose? I mean, you look like you're in
still top physical condition.
Yeah, I'm there, but I'm not quite where I want to be to where I can get the shirt off yet.
I'm still working on it.
The masterpiece is still being worked on right now.
So how did the drink DeFi come into play?
I mean, what sparked the interest and then getting involved in creating it?
Because that in itself is a lot of work.
Yeah.
Well, here's the short story.
The short story was many years ago, actually 2017, I was looking at the whole CBD area
for pain relief.
And because getting out of football, like I said, I was beat up and I needed something
to feel better.
I had chronic pain, I had inflammation all in my body and my knees. And so I ended up trying some
CBD and it started to work. And so once I tried it, I realized that, wow, there's a lot of people
out there who could use this, who could benefit from this. And so myself and my other partners
decided to create a company and really launch a company called Defy
to really spread the message about CBD and its benefits on the body. Because before I didn't
have the knowledge and I thought that CBD was marijuana and all that other stuff, and I didn't
go try to stay away from it. So we were trying to educate people on the benefits of it.
And that's how Defy started, you know, because I felt like if I could benefit from it, there's
thousands of thousands of players who played in the NFL or Major League Baseball, NBA, whatever.
And they feel the same way I feel. And they can certainly benefit this. And I felt like we can get
a gold standard product, make the products that we were trying better, enhance those, and really have the highest quality out there that our brand would be
something that people would want. Awesome. And you know what else has the highest quality?
The opportunity to be able to interview you on the Alliance's Hero Show. So make sure you go
to alliances.com. That's E-L-I-A-n-c-e-s.com it's the only place where entrepreneurs
align because we've got Terrell Davis TD he's played NFL pro football player Denver Broncos
pro football hall of fame and now co-founder of Defy Performance Drink and you can reach him by
going to drinkdefy.com drinkdefy.com Terrelldefy.com. Terrell, what's easier, playing football or starting a business?
They're both challenging, man.
They have parallels.
You know, they are.
They're both tough.
You got to put hard work into both.
There's no guarantee that you will have success, but you got to be committed to it, put the
effort into it.
You got to sacrifice a lot.
So I think they certainly have their parallels. But the one thing about business is that when I come home,
I don't feel beat up. I don't have to put ice on my body. So that's the only difference right there.
Now, you had your career where you rushed 2,000 yards in a single season?
Yeah.
That's a lot.
I mean, that's amazing.
Yeah, it's a lot of yards.
And Derrick Henry just joined the 2,000-yard club,
and now we have eight members in the club.
So congratulations to him.
It is, but it requires consistency.
It requires, like I said, a lot of effort.
It requires your teammates. It requires a lot of people who have
put their work into helping me get 2,000 yards. It was a team
effort more than it was an individual accomplishment.
I can thank a lot of people for helping me get 2,000 yards, but that's just like
business. No one person is going to do it by himself. It takes a team
to win championships, and that's just like business. No one person is going to do it by himself. It takes a team to win championships. And that's what I had. Incredible. Now, where can people pick up
and purchase the Drink DeFi? So right now you can go to drinkdefi.com. That's the first place you
can get it. But pretty soon we'll be announcing some partnerships and where our distributors are
going to have our products. So just kind of keep the eye
open, follow us on our social pages, our Instagram pages, our Facebook and Twitter. And then we'll
certainly keep you updated on where you can get Defy drinks and Defy products.
All right. I want to do some snooping because we're in your office. What's your favorite thing
in your office that you've got? And those of you that are watching, there's a few different things
here within it.
You'll have to come, but what's your favorite?
My favorite is probably, it's in my drawer right here.
Where is it?
If I can bring them out.
Oh, there they go.
These little things right here.
Oh, here it comes.
Here it comes.
Oh, man.
Describe to our audience that may be driving and listening to this on radio
what you're showing me.
All right.
So what I'm showing you right here, this is the first.
This is my Super Bowl trophy.
I mean, trophy, ring.
I have a trophy there.
But this is the ring
from the first Super Bowl when we beat
the Green Bay Packers.
I love it. He's showing us in person
so you're going to have to come to
Allianceer.com to see it. It feels phenomenal.
And that's the second
ring right there.
Awesome.
When the rumor goes out, everybody's got to be like,
okay, talk to me.
But this is the Hall of Fame ring right there. I don't know if you can see that, but that's the Hall of Fame ring right there.
I love it. Oh, beautiful.
That's the one right there.
Beautiful.
These are like paperweights. I just keep them around as paperweights.
Priceless, priceless, priceless. And you have a couple of kids. I see a picture there too. You've got children?
And you have a couple of kids. I see a picture there too. You've got children.
Yeah, I do. I have on the side, I have three. I have three. That's my oldest is Jackson.
My middle son is Miles. He's seven. And my daughter's Dylan. That's my sweetie pie. These are my babies, man. This is my motivation right here. And when they say like, what motivates you?
Oh, you're getting a little reflection there. All right. There you go. There you go.
Love it. So he's showing us pictures again
of his children. So Terrell, though, talk to us about the secrets, though, that you're sharing
with your children to help them lead a path like you have that's been so successful. We've got
parents that are listening now. They want to know what you're doing, secrets you're sharing with
them. For me, I just have one rule with my kids when it comes to
doing things. And my effort to them is give them all you got. And I use that phrase with them all
the time. And my oldest son runs track and actually all my kids, they play sports. And so
they're concerned about the outcome, whether they won or lost. And I say, well, I asked you a
question. Did you give them all you got? And if the answer is yes. And I said, then that's all you that's all you can do.
You know, give it all you got. No matter what it is, whether it's sports school, you can't control what happens or the outcome.
But you can't control your effort level. And I preach to them all the time.
Your teammates count on you to give it all you have. You know, your coaches count on you to give it all you have.
Teammates count on you to give it all you have. You know, your coaches count on you to give it all you have and you count on them to give give it all all they have. So if a team or anybody out there and you're doing any team activity or whatever it is, the one thing you can put your head to pillow at night and sleep and rest comfortably is telling yourself, I did all I could.
yourself i did all i could and that's it that's my rule with them now i said i don't have a problem with you if you win or lose but i do have a problem if i don't think you gave it all you have
and that's it that's my rule with them give it all you have hey terrell just do one of these would
