It's why I keep going back to quince. Their pieces just make getting dressed easier and I feel so classy. I feel elevated. The fits are flattering. The fabric is really high quality. Starting point is 00:01:51 We need to talk about a case that is still unfolding right now, but has taken a sudden and devastating turn. four-year-old Jonathan Everett Bowley, missing since New Year's Eve. I've been following this case since it has been reported. He was missing. He has been found deceased just hours ago. Sir Dr.'s located Jonathan's body in the rural, heavily wooded area just two miles from where he vanished. His loyal black Labrador Buck was found alive beside him, and authorities confirmed the dog never left. his side. Dogs don't understand timelines or investigations. They don't know when hope is supposed to
Starting point is 00:02:36 fade. They only know devotion. And when fear, cold, and darkness closed in, Buck did what dogs have done for humans for thousands of years. He stayed with Jonathan, even after hope was gone. My name is Lauren Matthias, and this is hidden true crime. Right now, the cause of Jonathan's death has not been determined. Investigators haven't confirmed whether foul play was involved or whether Jonathan wandered away and died from exposure. The investigation is active and ongoing. But what we do know is this. Jonathan was not alone. Buck stayed with him and that alone changes everything. Jonathan is someone's baby. He's a little boy who should be home watching his favorite show Paw Patrol, running around asking for snacks, but instead his family and volunteers have spent days walking tree lines and pond banks with flashlights praying that the next place they searched would be where they found him alive.
Starting point is 00:03:50 And now they have found him, but not the way any of us hoped. The Alabama law enforcement agency issued a missing child alert while he was missing, stating that Jonathan was believed to be in danger. This was never treated as a routine missing persons report. Jonathan was only four years old. He would have turned five in April and his family called him John John. He had long, curly blonde hair, big brown eyes and a huge personality packed into a tiny body. His aunt described him as a little country boy who loved being outside, loved Papa Troll, and loved to run.
Starting point is 00:04:31 He was deeply loved. and now he is gone. I feel for his family and those that loved him. Jonathan and his older brother primarily lived in Florida with their mother named Angel. Their parents were separated and under their custody agreement, their father, Jameson, was only granted five days a year of visitation for five days. And when the boys came to Alabama, it was meant to be a short visit. and Jonathan was supposed to be returned home the very next day. But Jonathan, of course, never made it home.
Starting point is 00:05:08 He was last seen on Wednesday, December 31st, around 1130 a.m. On his father's property. This is near the 7,000 block of Highway 195 in Walker County, Alabama, which is in the community of thatch near Jasper. This area is extremely rural and heavily wooded, filled with ponds, tree lines, and long stretches of private land. According to Sheriff Nick Smith, there was no clear indication that Jonathan had gone into the woods, other than what his father told police, but they continued to search anyway.
Starting point is 00:05:45 According to Jameson, Jonathan was outside with his six-year-old brother and their black Labrador Buck. The older child allegedly went inside to tell their father that Jonathan crossed a fence line into the woods. And when they went back outside, Jonathan and Buck were both gone. He was said to last be seen wearing a yellow Mickey Mouse shirt, black pants, and paw patrol shoes. Jamison reported him missing around 1 p.m. And immediately, multiple agencies went into full search mode. The Walker County Sheriff's Office, ALEA, Alabama State Police,
Starting point is 00:06:21 and the FBI were all brought in. Helicopters with thermal imaging, drones, tracking dogs, divers, and massive ground team searched over 500 acres. Divers were brought into search ponds near the property. But what's strange is that for days they found no sign of Jonathan, no footprints, no heat signatures, no dog trail. In fact, there were no indications that he had even entered the woods other than what Jameson had told them. Buck had also been missing until now.
Starting point is 00:06:53 Sheriff Smith also shared that one neighbor said Buck usually appeared on their game camera nearly every day at their corn feeder. The last time Buck appeared on the camera was December 26th. Authorities asked residents with doorbell and game cameras to review their footage. They also planned to execute a search warrant on the father's property. During that search, something shocking was found. Explosive devices. Pip bomb type devices were found inside the home and across the property. At least eight devices were located across the street. in a wooded area. The civilian search was immediately shut down and the FBI bomb squad was called in. Neighbors told investigators they had been hearing explosions on or around the property for weeks.
Starting point is 00:07:40 One neighbor reported hearing an explosion around 4 a.m. the morning before Jonathan was reported missing. And remember, Jonathan's father is former military. So the search for Jonathan started yesterday. We got a call. about 1228, about a missing child, four years old. The report that we got when we got here, the child is actually five years old. The indications were that him and his brother were outside playing around the fence line with a dog,
Starting point is 00:08:14 with a lab mixed dog with a white chest. The brother said that the dog and his brother went across the fence line. He went back to notify the dog notify the father that the brother had crossed the fence line. There was about a two-hour delay at this point that we have narrowed down. There was a two-hour delay in calling law enforcement to get us out here. But when we were called, deputies were on scene with RPS at about 102,
Starting point is 00:08:44 and they cleared the house and made sure that the child wasn't just hiding in the house. We had a drone in the air since 115 all the way up to 3.5. o'clock this morning with aviation support with thermal imagery trying to find the child we have not got any heat sensors we had volunteers out yesterday doing ground searches law enforcement out doing ground searches those ground searches around the house got suspended yesterday we have got support from the FBI State Police local municipalities law enforcement volunteers is just a whole lot of people to name that this
Starting point is 00:09:25 stepped up to really help us. But we suspended the search. We obtained a search warrant for the house. There's explosives inside the house. I encourage anybody that, not to take any searching on their own. If they want to search, they need to come sign in here at Cornerstone Church. So we know who's doing what. Because it is a, especially around the house, we're going to keep it limited to law enforcement

On Thursday, 40-year-old James and Kyle Bowley was arrested and charged with unlawful manufacturing of a destructive device. He was not arrested for Jonathan's disappearance, but officials confirmed that the explosives directly interfered with a search for his missing son.
Starting point is 00:12:16 And so, instead of helping find his child, he was in jail. We also learned of a disturbing history between Jonathan's parents, Jonathan's mother angel filed a protective order in 2021, alleging Jameson put his hands around her throat, choked her until she couldn't breathe through her into the kitchen, and restrained her arms while sitting on her. She stated that she feared he could kill her or their children. He denies these allegations. But those words matter now. As rumors spread, Jonathan's aunt, Caitlin, released a heartfelt statement, please. for focus on finding Jonathan long before his body was found. And while Jonathan has now been found, I feel her words are so important to read. She wrote, Our sweet John John is still
Starting point is 00:13:08 missing. Civilian search has been called off for tonight, but we'll resume tomorrow morning starting at 7 a.m. So everyone who wants to help search, please meet at Cornerstone Assembly of God on Highway 195. Everything will be coordinated from there. There has been an insane amount of information shared all over the internet, some true, some half true, some not true at all. Cases like this are a magnet for drama and speculation, which distracts from the main purpose of finding a missing child.
Starting point is 00:13:41 Here are the only facts that people need to know. John is four years old, and he will turn five in April. He's nine months older than my daughter, and they love playing together when my sister-in-law and the boys are home. We love when they are home. John has beautiful, long, curly, blonde hair with natural highlights that I'm quite frankly jealous of. Over Christmas, I said that he has that hair people pay big money for. He's got the best big brown eyes. He has a wonderful mom, my husband's sister, who loves him and his brother with everything she has plus some. She is one of the best moms I know. Her boys are beyond lucky to have her and my kids love their
Starting point is 00:14:27 auntie. She doesn't deserve this. John doesn't deserve this. His big brother doesn't deserve this. None of us do. Every resource possible is being used to find him. Every single one. W-C-S-O, FBI, J-P-D, other state agencies are all looking for John. Yes, his dad is in custody for unrelated charges and we're not going to discuss it because it does nothing to help us locate John. The custody arrangement is also not going to be discussed and is quite frankly no one's business because it also does nothing to help us locate John. All people need to know is that my sister-in-law is an incredible full-time mom giving those boys the best life they could ever dream of. The authorities know every single thing they need to know. His mom, his aunt's uncle's
Starting point is 00:15:17 grandparents, all of us on mom's side are cooperating 100% and are praying every single second that John is found safe. We want him home. We need him home. That's all anyone needs to know. Everything else is irrelevant. We appreciate everyone's help and prayers more than we could ever express. John is a loved little boy and we can't wait to have him home with us. Please continue to pray and help us search. Thank you. End quote. That being said, we are also learning that in addition to the explosive charges, Jameson, John John's dad, has also been charged with two counts of chemical endangerment of a child connected to methamphetamine.
Starting point is 00:16:05 According to court records, investigators allege that on December 31st, 2025, that's the day that Jonathan was reported missing, Jameson knowingly, recklessly, or intentionally, exposed his two children to methamphetamine with one of the charges specifically naming Jonathan as one of the victims. However, it's unclear if that exposure may have anything to do with Jonathan's death. But now, let's talk about Buck. Jonathan was not alone when he died. Buck was with him. There have been other cases where dogs stayed with missing children providing warmth, protection, and comfort.
Starting point is 00:16:44 And Buck did exactly that. he stayed through the cold, through the dark. He never left this little boy. Another chilling detail is that Jonathan disappeared the day before he was scheduled to go home. Now that doesn't prove anything, but in cases like this, timelines matter. The FBI is involved, and this case has now officially become a death investigation. The cause of death is pending and foul play has not been ruled out. But now, instead of asking where is Jonathan, the question is what happened to Jonathan? John John was truly obviously so loved, it's clear. And he deserved better.
Starting point is 00:17:24 Even if foul play is not involved, his father only had him for five days a year. He should have been able to keep an eye on his son for those five days, especially knowing he had explosives around the property. Jonathan's family deserves answers, and we will keep following this case until they get them. And for now, at least we know John John was never. alone. When the adults who were supposed to watch him didn't, Buck did watch him. He didn't understand custody agreements or court records or search warrants. He didn't know what had gone wrong. He only knew that a little boy needed him and so Buck stayed, not because he was told to, but because loyalty
Starting point is 00:18:02 like that doesn't come from commands. It comes from one place. It comes from love. In Jonathan's final moments, there was warmth beside him, a steady presence. a heartbeat that refused to abandon him. It doesn't fix what happened. It doesn't answer the questions that still remain, but it matters. Because in the middle of a case, not just the case, a tragedy filled with fear, suspicion, and unanswered truth, Buck reminds us of something painfully simple and profoundly human. Jonathan was loved and until the very end, someone stayed. At my bank, I was literally getting pennies using wealthfront.
