Hidden True Crime - The DISTURBING Truth Behind Joseph Duggar's Jail Emails with Family
Episode Date: April 3, 2026Hidden True Crime has obtained the jail emails—and what’s inside may be even more revealing than the phone calls. In this episode, Lauren walks through Joseph Duggar’s private messages from behi...nd bars, including exchanges with Jim Bob Duggar, Anna Duggar, and Kendra—revealing a pattern of support, faith, and encouragement… but very little direct accountability. From Bible verses centered on persecution and vindication, to family messages that quickly pivot to forgiveness and moving forward, the tone raises deeper questions about what’s being acknowledged—and what’s being avoided. As this case unfolds in real time, these emails offer a rare, unfiltered look at the Duggar family dynamic behind the scenes—and the uncomfortable pattern that many say we’ve seen before. Lately, I've been trying to be more intentional about what I wear, intentional about everything,
just choosing pieces that feel effortless, still put together, timeless, but also not overthinking it
every morning. It's why I keep going back to quince. Their pieces just make getting dressed
easier and I feel so classy. I feel elevated. The fits are flattering. The fabric is really
high quality. Everything is wearable day to day. I actually got this really, really,
beautiful yellow V-neck midi dress from them, and I paired it with some Italian leather sandals.
It's one of those outfits that just works. It feels polished but still comfortable. It's exactly
what I've been looking for. What surprises me, though, is the quality for the price. Quince uses
premium materials like European linen, organic cotton, but they cut out the middleman. So
everything is priced way lower than you'd expect. Refresh.

We have the jail emails.
Hidden True Crime has obtained all of Joe's
Dougger's email exchanges from his time in Arkansas before being extradited to Florida.
And here's a quick snippet from one on March 25th, 2026, when Joseph gets an email from his dad,
Jim Bob Dugger. Jim Bob writes, Joseph, I'm so sorry for what you are going through.
Mom and I love you very much. Looks like you have a long road ahead of you, but God will get you through.
You have made some terrible decisions, but God has already forgiving you,
if you have asked him.
End quote.
There's a lot more to that email.
We'll read all of it.
That email in full as well as all the others we have obtained,
including get this numerous exchanges between Joseph's sister-in-law and a Dugger,
Josh Dugger's wife.
Boy, oh boy.
Ultimately, we have a lot to get into today with the Dugger situation.
And honestly, some of this is not what you would expect because now we're not just like
looking at headlines or secondhand reports, right? We're looking at actual communication. We've heard
the phone calls. And we do have more phone calls coming. So hit subscribe, hit notifications. But in the last
24 hours, we've read the emails. And well, these emails are a lot. All of this is happening
behind the scenes while this case unfolds in real time. And when you read through them, you start
to see patterns. Not just in what's being said.
But what's not being said in them? Plus, some franchise fallouts are also happening. Quick
recap. Joseph Dugger, who most of us know from counting on and 19 kids in counting was arrested
earlier this month. He's facing serious allegations that he molested a nine-year-old girl during a
family trip to Panama City Beach back in 2020. And according to investigators, the alleged victim,
who is now 14, said this happened.
multiple times, yes, multiple times. And as we know, Joseph reportedly admitted to all of this
in a call with the victim's father, as well as a detective, that he touched this little girl
over her clothing and acknowledged that his intentions were not pure. His dad, Jim Bob Dugger,
who bailed Joseph out, seems to believe Joseph's confessions, right? Since he just referred to his
son's terrible decisions in his email, it certainly implied. Yet, Joseph has pleaded not guilty.
And his next court date is coming up. But that's where things stand legally right now.
On top of those charges, there are also separate charges out of Arkansas tied to fault imprisonment
and endangering the welfare of a child. Kendra Dugger, his wife, was also arrested in connection
to the Arkansas case. She's not accused in the Florida allegations, but she is dealing
with her own charges and has also been released. Now, in terms of fallout, we're already seeing
consequences on the media side. Counting on has officially been pulled from HBO Max. And honestly,
that's not that surprising. This family has had repeated scandals. And when you start counting on
charges, more than counting on weddings and babies, the networks start to take no. It's no longer
a family franchise, it's a liability. And it's a pattern. And when I say pattern, I'm referring to how
many of us are comparing this to what happened with Joseph's older brother, Josh Dugger. It's not just
HBO Max that's taken note. The history with Josh is very much in the background of everything
right now. This is a family that has already gone through a very public scandal involving abuse,
denial and then ultimately a conviction. So we aren't just reacting to Joseph, right? We're all reacting
to what's now, again, a pattern in a very public family. We're all asking what did this
environment allow, excuse or ignore over the years. And if you want a criminal psychologist take
on this pattern, the pattern Dr. John says we can't ignore, check out our episode with Dr. John
Matthias. Our full episode is in our case playlist, but it's also linked in the pinned comment here,
because it is worth the listen. I am biased. I may or may not be married to Dr. John Matthias. I am,
and he's my co-host, but truly it is worth the listen. But now let's get into some of the newer
information. There are reports that Joseph has been sending letters to family members,
basically apologizing, saying he's ashamed and that he knows he's hurt people.
A source described him as embarrassed and humiliated and that he acknowledged bringing shame to the family.
But let's pause there for a second because I don't fully, by the way, that's being framed.
I don't. Not after hearing the phone calls, not after reading the emails.
I mean, I've been reading scripture versus guys that Joseph's been emailing and recommending versus about being under attack.
being falsely accused. So it's a hard pill to swallow. Also, we've heard how he's communicating,
especially with his wife Kendra. And I'm not seeing a lot of actual accountability in those calls.
If you're not caught up yet, we've been releasing those calls in batches at a time,
laying them in full, and they are transcribed. And in those calls, I'm not seeing Joseph really
focusing on Kendra. I'm not seeing him comfort her or even full.
acknowledge what she's going through at all. The whole thing feels very surface level, very,
I feel bad without actually sitting in what he's allegedly done. And I'm not talking about them
being vague because they know they're being recorded. I'm talking about the emotions behind the
calls, the surface, the idea that he's not asking Kendra many questions at all. It's weird.
And that's another pattern that we've seen before in this family.
There are also reports that Joseph has been in contact with Josh while Josh is in prison,
which that's concerning in its own way, Joseph in touch with his older brother Josh,
because if that's who he's turning to for support or guidance right now,
that says a lot about the mindset here.
And we will be reading Joseph's correspondence between Anna Dugger, Josh's wife,
and between Josh's wife Anna and Joseph Dugger.
So sister-in-law, a brother-in-law here in just a bit as well.
We have those.
Josh's attorney even put out a statement basically saying Josh understands what it's like to be accused,
which again, considering Josh was convicted, meaning guilty, found guilty of the crimes of CSAM,
terrible crimes, horrific crimes.
That framing is wild because accused and convicted are two very different things.
And accused and a confession are also two different things.
which Joseph has allegedly done.
Best up and asked for forgiveness.
But now, let's talk about the parents for a second.
And I'm referring to Jim Bob and Michelle Dugger.
They did release a statement that we covered in another episode saying they're heartbroken,
that they're praying for the victim and that they are supporting Kendra, their daughter-in-law,
and the children, their grandchildren.
Note that word.
They're praying for the victim, not an alleged victim, a victim.
They acknowledge there is indeed a victim.
More proof that even Joseph's parents believe his confessions are true.
So now we're going to go through the emails in chronological order, starting from the earliest.
I like to go in chronological order through these emails.
I think it really kind of shows you what we're seeing here and how these conversations develop.
You know what I didn't expect to be so exhausting, deciding what to wear every single day.
Like, don't give me wrong.
I love clothes.
Love clothes.
But when you're on camera, running a business, juggling life, it's like, I don't have the
brain space for outfit decisions right now.
And that is why I love Daily Look.
This podcast is sponsored by Daily Look, the number one highest rated premium personal

who understands your style, your lifestyle, and what you actually feel good wearing.
They send you up to 12 pieces to try on at home, and you keep what you love and send back the rest.
And I genuinely loved what they sent me. Love.
Admittedly, I doubted their skills, but I should not have because I loved what they sent me so much.
I actually wore one of my daily look outfits on 2020 recently, which says a lot because I need to
pieces that look polished on camera but still feel like me. And I was so proud to wear that
outfit. And I'm even wearing one other shirts right now while recording. Get your own personal

So on March 19th, that would be the day after his rest, a person named Andrew Moore emailed Joseph
and said, you ready?
Goal.
Hello, Joseph.
My name is Andrew Moore.
I believe that you and I met many years ago.
I am a Christian and now a preacher.
I understand that you're going through a tough situation right now and simply wanted to offer
my hand of friendship to you.
If you would like to message back and forth, please feel free to ask or discuss anything
you like.
Regardless, I want you to know that I'll be keeping you in prayers, your friend Andrew.
end quote so right away we see that theme starting right support prayer encouragement the day after his arrest boom
right there but again no acknowledgment of what's actually being alleged or what the charges are for
on march 20th joseph wrote an email to kendra his wife titled hi from in here and then he writes
Hi babe, it's Joe. It's kind of hard to type on their email system from inside here. It takes a long time to type on here. I want to tell you, though, some things. I'm in lockup 23 to 24 hours, but I want you to know that I love you and the kids so much. I'm not sure what things look like for visits, but I miss you so much already. It feels like I have been in here for a week already. Love you, exclamation point.
This is probably the most raw he sounds. You can tell he's in car.
comfortable adjusting, trying to figure things out. But even here, it's still centered on him,
his experience, his environment, no mention again of what he did. Just, I love you, I love you.
I'll try to figure out how you can visit me. It feels like I've been here for a week. I love you
and the kids not, I hope you're okay. You know, here's what it's like in here. It's hard for me
to type. Again, I don't know. I don't know. Tell me what you think.
But even here, you know, like I said, it's centered on him, his experience, his environment.
On March 21st, we have an email from Josh's wife and Joseph's sister-in-law Anna.
So again, Anna is important because Anna is married to who?
Josh Dugger, Josh Dugger, who's in prison convicted of horrific CSAM charges.
Anna has stayed with Josh.
That's the pattern we're seeing here.
We're all wondering if Kendra's going to follow that same pattern.
what we're seeing here.
Unfortunately, it looks like it might.
So what does Anna write, her brother-in-law?
Here we go.
Anna writes to Joseph.
Hey, Joseph, bro, you've got our prayers.
We love you.
However we can help, please let us know.
I think I put some money on your books.
I don't remember how phone calls and video calls work.
Please let me know if I can help get things set up so you can call and talk with Kendra.
Just remember, don't.
talk about anything legal unless you are with an attorney. Everything said in these messages,
phone calls and video chats are recorded and turned over to prosecutors. Are they keeping you in solitary
or will they let you go into a pod? Joshua's experience there at Washington County was fairly
safe. If there are any concerns for your health or safety, please let me know. On a practical side,
I think commissary has a two-week delay. If you find out timing, that would be helpful. And if you will
be there a while. We definitely want to send some goodies your way. I talked with Kendra for about
30 minutes today. I was amazed with how clearly she thought a focus and articulate she was in the
middle of such heavy situations. She loves you deeply. She was strong on the phone call except for when
she talked about it being a month before she can see the kids. My heart breaks for all of you. I know
she will win in the end. It just might take time. Kendra is an amazing woman.
The grace of God is flowing from her life.
She is a gem.
Know that God is our rock.
He is our fortress.
He is our shelter.
He is our defender.
He is our strength.
He will get us through whatever storms we face.
Praying for you.
Love you.
Anna.
Hey, Anna.
Thanks for the message.
Got the money.
Thank you so much.
I am currently in solitary.
But they got me a Bible.
So I have been able to stay encouraged because I was reading through Psalms today.
And boy, this keyboard is hard to type from.
Thanks for the encouraging message it means a lot.
Well, there's a lot here.
Clearly, Anna is giving logistical help,
warning Joseph about everything being recorded, smart,
helping with Kendra and emotionally supporting both of them,
Joseph and Kendra.
And it's hard not to notice, though,
how comfortable Anna seems discussing all of this.
Not comfortable in a good way,
but comfortable in a...
She's very familiar with this way.
She knows the terminology.
She understands the system and she's speaking from experience.
This is not her first rodeo.
This is someone who has already been through it.
After everything with Josh, she's had years of exposure to how prisons and restrictions work.
So when she talks about this, she's not guessing.
She knows exactly what she's talking about.
On March 22nd, we have continued messages between Anna and Joseph.
Joseph writes, hey, Anna, do you mind telling Kevin?
Kendra that on my side of things it says that my email was sent to her, but I think she has to
still accept it. Maybe she could check her spam folder or something. I will also send one to her
other email. Thanks for being the messenger on here. Anna responds. Sent to Kendra. Are you in general
population or in solitary and out for one hour a day? Grain for you. Please let me know how I can help.
Joseph replies, I am in solitary. So just an hour a day for now, getting
lots of Bible reading done. That's what helps me stay encouraged through the day. Anna writes,
you can put in a request to the chaplain to visit you. He can give you more books to on the phone
with Kendra helping her finish setting things up. Joseph says, great, thank you. You can tell her
that I found out how to adjust the camera so we could try that if she gets her side set up. Going back
in now, Anna closes with, she loves you so much, end quote.
Again, very logistical, very support focus with a lot of I love yous, very faith-centered.
And then on March 23rd, we have messages from Joseph and Kendra.
Joseph writes, just found your new contact on my messaging side of things.
Hopefully this finds you well.
Love you, sweetie.
Love you to the moon and back.
Kendra replies, I got your message.
I love you.
Hang in there.
Very surface level.
very light and then on march 24th joseph writes to kendra great talking with you today i always love getting to hear your voice i hope you have a
wonderful grace-filled day and in psalm 54 that's the one i am praying over each of you and replacing
the personal pronouns with your name that passage has brought me great comfort all the psalms that have meant a lot to me are
8, 18, 54, 86, 91, 119, 119.
Listen to them if you get a chance, maybe in song, form, if needed.
Winky face.
I love you so much, three hearts.
And they're not real emojis.
They're like the little V and the three for the hearts, and it's a sideways wink.
So let's go ahead and look at the Bible passages, shall we?
that Joseph requested Kendra to read, just so we can get a fill for his mindset during this time.
Here we go. Psalms. 54 says, you ready for this? Save me, oh God, by your name. Vindicate me by your might.
Hear my prayer, oh God, listen to the words of my mouth. Arrogate foes are attacking me.
Ruthless people are trying to kill me. People without regard for God. Surely God is my help. The Lord is the one who sustains me.
Let evil recoil on those who slander me.
In your faithfulness, destroy them.
I will sacrifice a free will offering for you.
I will praise your name, Lord, for it is good.
You have delivered me from all my troubles,
and my eyes have looked in triumph on my foes.
Yeah.
So, first off, I've read all of the Psalms that Joseph has recommended,
but I definitely just needed to read that one.
I'm not going to read them all because they're long.
It would be a very, very long episode of just scriptures.
When it comes to the rest of the scriptures, the verses, the Psalms that he recommends,
if you actually step back and you look at the specific Psalms, Joseph is pointing Kendra toward,
which also means it's the Psalms that Joseph is reading and feeling comfort with while he's behind bars.
There's a pattern here too.
And a lot of these verses, these Psalms, center around being under attack, being falsely accused, being surrounded by enemies, and asking God for deliverance.
Now, he did mention that, you know, maybe it's Kendra that he feels is being under attack.
But either way, he's not reading right now about being a sinner or being humbled or, you know,
things that we might typically connect to someone being a Christian who's charged with a really
horrific crime and now behind bars. Because this is a Christian family, if you haven't noticed.
So let's go back to that Psalms 54 verse I did read. Like Psalm 54, that's very clearly
about someone crying out to be saved from people coming after them, asking God to defend them
and basically turn the situation back on their enemies.
It's being the victim.
It's saying that, you know, whether it's, you know, it's about being the victim.
Psalms 18 goes even further.
That one is intense.
It talks about being rescued from enemies, being rewarded for righteousness,
being blameless in God defeating the people coming against you.
And that's where this gets a little uncomfortable.
I mean, a lot of things get us to places that are really uncomfortable in this.
case. But when you apply these Psalms to the situation, it does read like he's positioning
himself or Kendra as being, again, the ones that are being attacked rather than the person
at the center of these allegations. Even Psalms 86 and 91, those are more about protection,
mercy, and God rescuing someone from distress. Never mind the victim, the child victim,
who could use protection, who should have been protected, who was allegedly under attack and needed
God rescuing her from someone.
Again, these are the Psalms they're sharing very focused on Joseph being in danger, him needing
comfort, him needing deliverance.
Then you get into Psalms 119, which has a lot about being persecuted without cause, staying
faithful while being targeted and holding onto righteousness despite what others are saying.
And taking together, okay, yeah, digging together, it paints a pretty consistent picture,
a.k.a. pattern. These aren't verses about repentance. They're not centered around accountability
or harm done to others or making things right. They're overwhelmingly about being attacked,
being misunderstood for being protected and ultimately being vindicated.
So instead of pointing toward reflection or responsibility, the focus stays on endurance, right?
Let's endure.
It focuses on defense, on being delivered from the situation.
This all lines up with what we have been seen in the messages overall.
A lot of faith language, a lot of encouraging.
but not a lot of accountability at all. And look, I understand that faith brings comfort.
But doesn't faith also bring accountability? Like if really, if really faithful, isn't that what
this should be about? I pay a lot of attention to the little things that affect how I feel the next day.
And sleep is a big one, big for me. Not just how long I sleep, but how comfortable I actually am while sleeping.
So I recently tried Miracle Made Sheets and I did not expect to notice the changes this quickly.

Moving on to March 25th, Kendra writes to Joseph.
Okay, here she says, it's good to talk to you, love you.
That's it.
Then we have this exchange between Joseph and his sister, Joy Anna's husband, Austin.
Remember, Joy Anna and Austin are helping Kendra.
That's where Kendra is staying.
That was the house in the now viral video of Michelle Dugger approaching a reporter,
Paparazzi.
So Austin writes to Joseph.
Joe, this is Austin.
I want you to know that I love you.
Jesus loves you and continue to draw you closer to him.
I don't want to discuss your issues over these communications.
You need to only be talking to your attorney.
Please know that God works.
despite the sin of man for his good.
I am praising God that we started getting closer to you guys within the last year and a half.
He knew that Kendra was going to need help.
We will and are helping her.
And then that same day, March 25th, Joseph gets an email from his dad, Jim Bob Dugger.
This is the one that I set the stage with at the beginning of this episode.
So here it is in full.
You ready for this?
Jim Bob Dugger, writing Joseph.
He says,
Joseph, I'm so sorry for what you are going through.
What a way to start an email, right?
What a way.
Joseph, I'm so sorry what you're going through.
Mom and I love you very much.
Looks like you have a long road ahead of you, but God will get you through.
You have made some terrible decisions, but God has already forgiven you if you have asked him.
Kendra is doing well overall.
She is trusting in the Lord.
She loves you very much.
Your kids are going to be okay.
Our whole family has pulled together to help.
Several of the sisters and sister-in-laws have taken Kendra out and spent a lot of time with her.
It is ridiculous that they charged Kendra and arrested her.
We've hired to help Kendra.
We were praying that we can get her charges dropped.
You would be so proud of your brothers and grateful to them for how they've stepped up
and are helping with all the details of your business and helping Kendra.
You were just going to have to accept the situation at this point
and is also fine to pray that God would have mercy on you.
but you're probably going to face major consequences for several years to come.
I pray that God will bring other Christians into your life to encourage you
and that you can also point people to Christ,
even though the time you're in jail and prison, God will be with you.
He will get you and your family through.
David in the Bible royally messed up.
But he repented and became a man after God's own heart.
You also, like Joseph, who is in prison, can make lemonade out of lemons.
I love you, and we'll keep praying for you.
Don't give up.
God does not finish with your life.
Love you.
Dad.
Trust in the Lord.
Lead not to your own understanding, end quote.
I just got to talk about a few things.
What a way to start.
What a way to start that email.
First off, let's talk about that.
He literally starts it with, I'm so sorry for what you are going through.
Not, you know, my heart is.
broken by what you've done, but I love you. I'm sorry for what you are going through.
And then he admits some things. Joseph has made terrible decisions. It's admitting guilt,
admitting that his dad believes the allegations. But then he quickly then says, but God has already
forgiving you if you've asked him. As in, you're forgiven. You're like, you're good though. She's
trusting the Lord. Your kids are going to be okay. Everybody's helping. Then, you know, we hope that
Kendra's charges will be dropped. It's ridiculous they've charged Kendra, just ridiculous.
Then it says that he's, Joseph's going to have to face major consequences for several years to come.
So again, Jim Bob sort of recognizing that these, these charges are, you know, what?
his son did is what his is being accused for. Then he says that he mentions jail and prison,
another realization that he realizes his son will probably be convicted. Then he talks about how
David and the Bible royally messed up. That's what he equates this to, royally messing up,
not harming a child, not ruining a child, like the emotional damage.
will ricochet throughout that child's entire life for the rest of her life.
So he equates us to royally messing up and comparing him to David in the Bible.
But he repented and became a man for God's heart.
And like Joseph, who was in prison, he can make, I hear of lemonade out of lemons.
Like, guys, look, I understand positivity.
I understand those beautiful signs that we hang up in our house that,
encourages people to keep going. But really, lemonade out of lemons? Do we, like, really? Like,
that's what you're going to say to your son in this situation, make lemonade out of lemons?
I love you. We'll keep praying for you. Don't give up. That's Jim Bob's advice. He's royally
messed up, but Joseph make lemonade out of lemons. And then the next day on March 26,
Joseph sends Kendra a heart. Kendra writes back with some song lyrics. She says,
Your favorite song, smiley face, I hope these words play in your mind over and over, I love you,
heart. And the song says, quote, how many times can you hear the same lie before you start to believe it?
The enemy keeps whispering to me. I swear these days, it's all that I'm hearing. I used to know who I was,
now look in the mirror and I'm not so sure. Lord, I don't want to listen to the lie.
lies anymore. The truth is, I am my father's child. I make him proud and I make him smile. I was made in
the image of a perfect king. He looks at me and wouldn't change a thing. The truth is, I am truly loved by a
God who's good when I'm not good enough. I don't belong to the lies. I belong to you. And that's
the truth. When I feel like there's so much noise living rent free in my head, heaven finds me in a still
small voice and it sounds like grace instead. You remind me who I am when I look in the mirror.
and I'm not so sure, Lord, I don't want to listen to the lies anymore.
The truth is, I am my father's child.
I make him proud and I make him smile.
I was made in the image of a perfect king.
He looks at me and wouldn't change a thing.
So that song is actually by a contemporary Christian singer, Megan Woods.
On March 26th, Joseph replies to Austin, his brother-in-law, Joanna's husband.
And he says,
thanks y'all so much for your support of kentra it means the world to have family like you i'm so grateful
for all the people that have jumped right in and been there to support her love y'all so much
now okay stepping back and looking at this together there's again very clear pattern support
faith encouragement logistics again very little acknowledgement of what's actually being alleged
and look i know that they realize that these emails might become public they've all said it
Like, don't put anything here that only an attorney should see.
But for that reason alone, you'd think that they'd like, you know what I mean?
Let them, let him know that they're not happy with him, that this is a disappointment that they can't believe what he's done.
But no, no acknowledgement or little, very little acknowledgement of what's being alleged, minus make lemons out of lemonade, you know?
Like, you know, I think of going to church as a kid and getting that by a teacher.
out of lemonade.
Make lemonade out of lemons,
which, yeah,
lemonade out of lemons.
Even if Jim Bob's message,
which is probably the strongest
acknowledgement we've seen
from the Dugger parents,
it still pivots, right,
to that forgiveness,
faith in moving forward.
And when you look at Joseph's messages,
two people,
they feel,
I don't know,
like detached.
They're very short.
They're very surface level.
Like, he could be writing a sibling.
He could be writing his wife,
or he could be like writing a friend he isn't talked to in like five years.
There's not a lot of depth there,
especially compared to what Kendra is expressing,
especially in that final message with the lyrics.
That message from her is heavy.
It reads like someone trying to ground themselves,
trying to make sense of everything,
trying to hold into identity in the middle of chaos,
trying to support her husband who's in solitary, you know.
But still, it's almost like they lean on Bible verses or songs
rather than expressing how they really feel for themselves.
Like, they don't know how to do it.
You know, and I get it.
There's some people that write cards to people, heartfelt cards.
There's other people that don't know how to express themselves so well.
And they buy Hallmark cards and then just sign them, their name.
You know, but this is a married couple that is going through a lot.
You think that they might just be able to try expressing just a little how they feel.
They simply, it's very clear that this is a culture where they can't.
they lean on Bible verses instead of emotions, not with emotions, but instead.
And his response right before that, by the way, to Kendra was just a heart.
That's it.
That contrasts as a lot.
And that's really the through line in all of this.
There's a lot of, we love you, a lot of God will get you through, a lot of stay strong.
But no centering on the victim or fully acknowledging the severity of the situation.
No one even saying, I'm so upset you did this.
I mean, where's that?
We're saying, I'm angry.
Where's that?
So, yes, we do, though, see some small shifts.
Yes, there are moments where it feels like maybe there's slightly more acknowledgement than we've seen before.
But overall, minimize and spiritualize.
Like, that's the dougar way.
Minimize and spiritualize.
Move forward without really sitting in.
the harm at all. That doesn't seem to be the case, though, with some of Joseph's siblings,
though, we've been covering their statements, their public statements as they come out,
and we have a new one today from his older sister, Gianna. And in that statement, she writes,
quote, we are deeply saddened and heartbroken by the situation involving my brother Joseph.
This news came as a shock to us as we had no prior knowledge before it became public. Our hearts are with
the child who has been harmed. This is a grievous and unacceptable wrong. We continue to pray for the
victim and for justice to be carried out, end quote. Jenna also mentions the child who has been harmed.
I do appreciate that she says unacceptable and grievous. Jenna also mentions
harmed, not allegedly harmed, but harmed, the child who's been harmed. There's also a new TikTok from
cousin Amy as well. I love cousin Amy.
Cousin Amy. She has been and continues to be highly critical of her extended Dugger family.
Take a listen. Okay. This is going to be a series because clearly I have a lot to say.
If you don't want to hear it, just keep on scrolling. No big deal. But if you do, here.
How in the hell? Okay. Can she not be so unbelievably distraught and mad
and disgusted at him.
Oh, just wait. I'll tell you why.
Because women in these really toxic systems like this one are taught that anger is a sin.
Anger is wrong and you cannot express it.
You have to just keep it inside.
Stay sweet.
Keep the peace and don't create waves.
Oh, and the biggest one that just drives me crazy is.
you have to forgive quickly, very, very quickly.
Because heaven forbid you take time to process what in the world has just happened,
that your entire foundation of what you've built your life on with your children
has now been completely disrupted and it'll never look the same again.
But you're not allowed to take time for yourself in this kind of environment.
to even think for yourself at all.
So when you are angry, you can't express it.
So you have to smile, talk sweetly,
and remember that your husband loves you no matter what.
And my favorite term that they always use is grace.
We show them grace.
We show them in grace because sins happen and grace covers it.
Well, I had to sit up for this one.
Grace is covered.
Grace does offer repentance.
Grace is something that is wonderful.
Not in this situation.
This isn't grace.
This is suppression.
Ugh.
And this is how the cycle continues.
Instead of actually dealing with trauma that really fires me up,
she will defend him.
She will smile.
sweetly, she will talk very kindly to him, and she will downplay the situation at hand.
The healthy response to being hurt and being betrayed and being like completely just broken
hearted is anger. Anger is a part of it all. Not in this culture. Not in this culture. And that
really, it just, oh, it fires me up, y'all. It fires me up. Because instead, what you're going
going to see is the most perfect sweet little angel of a wife who's right beside him through
thick and thin and who does that remind you of the fact that she is not angry at all should deeply
concern you and then jessa dougar has also released a second statement her first one mentioned
praying for kendra however this new one it does not it reads quote
We learned, along with the rest of the world, of the heartbreaking news involving my brother Joseph, and we are deeply grieved.
Our hearts ache for this innocent, young girl, and the harm she has suffered.
This is a profound wrong, and we know it grieves the heart of God.
He cares deeply for the children and vulnerable.
We are lifting her up in prayer, asking for comfort, healing, and justice, end quote.
So again, mentioning the victim that has been harmed, not allegedly.
And this is a new little piece of info we just learned.
about. As we've heard in the phone calls between Joseph and Kendra, he was placed in solitary confinement,
likely for his own safety. Joseph reportedly had minimal interaction with other inmates, and even though
the facility has a large common sitting area, one former inmate named Ray Shields said Dougger was
never seen there. Ray was recently released on Bond and also said, quote, he's famous and
rich, which makes him a target plus what he's in for, he wouldn't last a day with some people.
There was talk about kicking his ass, but no one got the chance.
It's too bad.
End quote.
So quote from Ray.
Thank you, Ray, for letting us know what's going on in there.
As this case continues, these patterns are going to be something we are clearly watching very
closely because the legal outcome is one thing, right?
But how the family responds, how they handle this internally.
and publicly. That will tell a whole different story. It already is. And right now, the story feels
unfortunately very familiar. At my bank, I was literally getting pennies using wealthfronts.
