I got excited with the idea of them being back and then not ruining the season. And thank God. I mean, thank God it was it's been a dark time. Yeah.

And like dark times could have been a letdown series after the Braves, you know, and they've let they've let down. They've had games where they felt like it was going to be in the first inning of the Blue Jays. It's like six one. It's like, okay, you just took three or four of the Braves, like, I should have expected this to lose 10 to it's fine. And whenever they go to Toronto, it's always just an exit with a split or

always splits men in Toronto. There are six and 13. And last night, I didn't know that exact number. But as I was watching, I'm like, I feel like it's never happened. They never went there. And famously, I'm sure you remember this, Pavetta did get shelled there on my wedding day. Yes, I do. It's a core memory. It really is, it's a beautiful moment.

It's a core, I just snorted, it's a core memory. It is, it is. I mean, who could forget that you got shelled? And I was like, of course he did. Of course he did. But I was gonna do the whole, I felt like Berman this morning, like back, back, back, back, back, back, back, back, back.

There has to be a balance. You have to hit home runs yesterday. So they, they won three, nothing.

Sometimes the numbers are like pretty aggressive in terms of like the team that hits the most home runs in the Playhouse wins World Series most years. Just like it's yes. In recent years, like correlation between home runs and winning is just what it is, guys. Like that's just baseball.

And listen, I think you have to do both. Yeah, of course, you have to be able to do both. You can't just be home run or bus. Like we know that, but like to say to almost act like home runs or voodoo. Okay, well, they left him out there too long, but at the same time he's pitching pretty well So, I don't know but I think that him not just waving the white flag on the game I thought was important psyche the team being like, okay Well, I guess if he's right if he yeah, and and they did and they were before the shore home run, they were two for 13 in the run of the scoring position. It felt like this is one of those games where they kind of fight you can credit for that, but they give away because they can't get a big hit. And then short bird goes yard. I also I feel like I've just never seen them work that good of a bat in my we had like 3. We had like three, 12 pitchers.

It was like nine pitch, 12 pitch, 14 pitch, whatever it was. And Cody Clemens, I think, had two of bats in that game, right? He had 11 pitch a bat and then an eight pitch a bat. Yeah. And then the Schwabber one was like 12 or 13. He just knew he was going to go yard. Oh, it was the lock of all time. He was waiting for the fast ball right down the middle.

And it was like I was sitting there watching it. watching it and they did for actually a majority of yesterday until like Francis Bowden like founded a little boat in France. He's nasty too, but I know he didn't look at super early But that dude's got stuff at a point six to era. He's got all good off since that but like I thought early They did the they did the thing where they were fouling up on the pitches and like working to get a fastball to do damage on until he retired like eight straight in the middle of the game. I was like, well, that was a good, the one where he struck out short over there. Like you could see Schwerber just look at him and be like, dude, that pitch was

nasty. Yeah, he's got good stuff. Yeah, he's got good stuff. But it was just like, oh my God, what a crazy concept. You can foul off inches. You can work it to get a fastball in the middle That you can look to do damage on oh my goodness like what welcome to how baseball is played 20 years ago, I'm so proud of you, but it was good

Like I'm with you, but you make it seem like it's like a no brainer. Like he was, he's been in the mine for a long time. Look me in the eye. No brain. Okay. Okay. Yeah. No, he's Cody Clemens is a core failure now. I don't want to tell you. I really like him. He's, he might be on the Mount Rush more right now. Like he's, he's one of the most important players in the team. Is he better than his dad?

But yeah, so, but just like that kind of thing is so important and you're starting to see like the minute when when everyone's back and healthy and We'll get there with Harper and we'll get there with boom who was supposed to be back on Tuesday But they have been making is it a pretty decent bench here like so so off the bench I just only I trust way more Weston off the bench like it seems like that. They are currently They're currently trying to decide Weston or Hayes because like Hayes isn't really played much and Weston is been heating up a little bit. He's been cooling off, but like he's been, I think serviceable.

I'm shocked. The Austin Hayes thing has not been great. The one bad guy we're going to give him runway. Let's go get that fielders. Oh, Austin Hayes. We did it. Yeah. Yeah. percentages, something I say has 11 or 12 extra base hits in like 360 plate appearances here. Like it's 12 walks and I'm like, I get it. And I'm like, just man, it's a question like this is the center field left thing, how it's going to play out in the place. We know more is going to play against raise no matter what. And maybe he's earned some, some spots against lefties with the lack of competition, but like you're really talking about potentially having a incredibly light hitting outfield for the playoffs.

I know Kaz is the size right field, baby. Yeah. Besides right field. But I mean, yeah, it was good. Marsh got on base eight times. Yeah. Great series, which is important to see obviously, but it's definitely gonna be the biggest question here. So they seem to just want Rojas to be the center fielder again, like where it feels like we're back. We've looped our way back. Now,

last 11 games. I don't know if you check the stats. No, no hits. No, I'm an eight game. So I'll be over his last 11, but regardless, I, I just don't know how we got ourselves back here. I think you on Rojas as a bench guy in the playoffs is actually an incredibly valuable what he did yesterday. Just come off the with you. That's what I'm saying. Like I think he's the exact type of guy. It's just you were just talking about like the way the bench could shake out eight games, he's eight games, but he's over. It's bad.

Like the way the bench could shake out, you're absolutely right. In terms of like a mix of bats and defense and Your variability guys can play different like Cody Clemens complete different spots. I said Wilson can stand at different spots. Yes I'm on the left side the end row has coming off the bench as a leading events of placement a pinch runner type guy like that's A valuable guy to have in the playoffs. Yon Ross is your everyday starting feeling well I like that's a valuable guy to have in the playoffs. You're on roses every day, starting feeling well. It's like, oh, I don't know. So I had this thought while driving in.

But like, you know, I think Justin Crawford at the worst case scenario, I think is going to put the bat on the baseball.

He's also faster, like significantly faster. Uh, well, you're, uh, really fast, but I mean, Justin Crawford's about as fast as you're going to find. Yeah. He's a special speed guy. And it's not like, so Justin Crawford is not, he's not a, like his swing is funky. Like it's, and it's funny, they've definitely, they've made some adjustments to it a little bit, because I think they want to add some lift because he can't just drive the ball into the ground. If he came up, it looks a lot like Don Brown. So I know that might, you know, trigger some bad memories, but at least he has other things besides like power that Don Brown never got into. So like

Johan Rojas, I just don't think, you're basically batting a pitcher nut. If you want to give a shot on a kid who does have talent, who can put the bat on the baseball, who can bunt, who can do little things well, and you don't have a big drop off defensively, Yohan Rojas also came up from AA. He was 24 though. He was 24 and he played a full season. But like I'm just saying, last 20 games at Reading, I know it's Reading, but Reading actually... AA matters more. Yeah, exactly. I take that way stats more serious 337 with an 855 OPS, you know like man Pretty good like I just I'm not saying they will I just think it's something to consider because it seems like

Marsh's look better in centerfield, but in a perfect world, it's still Johan Rojas in centerfield and March and left because I don't think Hayes and I don't think Weston Wilson have played well enough to like they got it. We got a shoehorn. I agree they're not hitting that great and Weston Wilson had a moment and I think he's still I trust me it's left hand pitching but I think what they're trying to decide right now is who's going to be our guy against lefties in the playoffs is it awesome Hayes is a Weston Wilson they're giving Weston

Wilson a lot of that run right now but I think cause it's awesome Hayes has the pedigree he's done over the last the last couple weeks. But like if the best option for the team is still March and left and blank in center field, like I just think Justin Crawford could give you a better at that than Johann Rojas. I don't think the chase is there with Justin Crawford. I think he's gonna put the ball in the baseball. I don't know if they're gonna do this, but if you can do it now, give him a little bit of run runway, see if you can take the job and run with it. Like you can just go back to your on Rojas if you can.

Like you want to run us. I don't think playing. Sorry, you've been been moved around and all that. I don't think playing more is all of a sudden going to get him more comfortable. I don't know. It didn't work. We tried it. They sent in the minors play every day. He was hitting in the minors like it is what it is at this point. I think for this season, if nothing else.

No. And here's my here's my final point. Sorry, I forgot this. No, no. My final point is I think he's going to be starting that starting center fielder on opening day next year. I think Justin Crawford is going to be the opening day center fielder. So like, if there's a chance to see if he can do it now, I just don't think it's that well, I certainly in September, I think the question is would coming up the playoffs failing miserably, if that what would happen like does that Sun is development all that type of stuff Here's my question for you because I'm guessing the vast majority of our listeners have not seen Justin Crawford play defense How close to yon Ross do you think he is because because I mean we he's not yon Ross. No, he's not He's knowing so he's a purebred center fielder 100% like that's what he is

But you're on real loss. I think we get all agrees a different centerfielder I think the I think he's almost Pache you know what I mean like Pache's also Pache was a great centerfielder he could not hit yeah so I think he's closer to like the Pache level which again really really good Rojas special and but I don't think it's it's not a drop off like Justin Crawford. It's not a big enough gap where if he can come in and back to 50 for you, it's not worth doing. And I think and I think you can do the little thing. I think you can put the bat on the baseball, use his speed, like keep the defense on their heels.

And I don't know, it'd be bold. It would be bold. But you know what? Like what's the I just don't think there's that big of a difference. And I trust Justin Crawford's bat more than I trust your hundred. Yeah, I love it. I think it's a really creative idea and go bold man I mean you certainly didn't go bold at the trade deadline, you know make a bold move now

I don't we're not calling up Aiden yet. No, they're just isn't a need as much But I really I legitimately think Crawford's gonna be the center fielder. Look again next year He is he is so much more pedigree. He's so much more just naturally talented like Why not man? because what we're talking about here is is when you look at how this team shakes out for the playoffs and obviously like You know alvarado figuring it out and you know, you look good in the third inning super low leverage on that He actually did look good. I thought he looked good in the third inning there And I liked, you know thompson going to him in a six point even 30. It was like, oh, or six to whatever was pretty good about five guys in the bullpen.

Well, that's the thing. I feel good about the bullpen. I feel really we're back to feeling good about the same pitching, at least three of the four and we Ranger we're hoping can get back to where he was. Can we get to it? Can we get to who's going to be making the start? Yeah, hold on. We're going to come on. We're going to get there. We're going to get we're going to get there. What I'm saying, though, is I think that when I look at the playoffs and outside

of top or trusting guys or whatever these issues you invest, I think you could argue that the center field left fielding is the most important decision they have to make prior to the playoff. Yeah. Yeah, it is. I mean, and I don't know. You, you have to find a way to work everyone in so you know what you have. Yeah.

And, and the biggest thing, honestly, is just March getting back to being a really, really solid player.
