Billy's fans on their feet for Sanchez.
The wind up, the 0-2 pitch, swing and a miss struck him out strike out number 12 on the night and
Christopher Sanchez a
complete game
Four hitter here in South Philadelphia. He continues to dazzle here
What a performance by the Phillies young left-hander. Oh
What a night what a night down at Citizens Bank Park.
A true masterpiece.
Wheels last night.
Sanchi tonight.
And it's hard not to feel good entering into any series
when you have those two guys going.
And what a run
Christopher Sanchez is currently on welcome on in it is the final out Jack for it's hanging out with you here on
this Tuesday night as
reactor one of the games of the year and one of the games that
The regular season is so long
There's only a couple games that I feel like will will stick out at the end of the year, or even five years from now. But tonight was one of
those games. Tonight was one of those games where we get to see a rare feat, a
complete game. I had Walker in here. I was like, Walker, a pitcher in Major League
Baseball is about to throw a complete game. I treated it like a no-hitter
because it's basically what it has has turned into so, you know
Wheels a couple weeks ago through the through the one hitter one hit was a homerun to Austin Hayes naturally
Chris Sanchez
It wasn't a one-hitter, but it might as well have been struck out 12 didn't walk anyone

If you were down there, we'd love to hear from you.
It didn't seem like anyone left.
It didn't seem like a single person
left the ballpark tonight.
I tell you what I know we
wax poetically about CBP and oh
it's only July and look at what the stadium is like but
Seeing the crowd and seeing
Them rise their feet as Sanchez comes back out there. I'm in a city
This city loves old school baseball. They
love a pitcher throwing a complete game. I remember it was a couple weeks ago. Rafael
Marshawn simply laid a bunt down and he got a standing ovation running off the field.
And I just something this I think this town appreciates winning baseball in a way that I feel as if few other cities
do.
And between another picturesque CBP sunset, the ballpark filled to the brim, red socks
in town for as great as Sanchez was tonight.
I thought also, so the bank park was great.
So if you were down there,
would love to hear from me or you were like me
and watch this one on your couch,
we'd love to hear from you as well.

The biggest takeaways of the game brought to you
by Morgan & Morgan, America's largest injury law firm.
Simply put, the player of the game was Chris Sanchez.
And the player of the game is brought to you by South Jersey Jersey Gas Conserve
Helping customers and the community save energy and money visit South Jersey Gas
Dot-com slash conserve hundred and six pitches for Chris Sanchez tonight. I was a little surprised I
Was a little surprised he went back out for the ninth
I was even more surprised when he left him out there
after he got Roman Anthony out for the fourth time.
But I guess with a three run lead,
you kind of just ride the hot hand
and I'm okay with Rob Thompson doing that.
I did have a concern about putting him back out there
for the ninth just to get a lefty out
after all
the emotion he showed when he got out of the eighth but I think that's part of
the maturation process of Chris Sanchez to where a couple weeks ago in Pittsburgh
it was a similar scenario I think this time it was to start the eighth and he
had a big seventh got out of it was all emotional and then went back after the
ninth or eighth and walked the leadoff emotional, and then went back after the ninth or eighth
and walked the leadoff hitter and it came back to bite him.
Well, tonight was just some really positive growth
from Chris Sanchez to just keep going
and act like I guess he'd been there before.
And what made last night, or what made tonight so impressive
is that that's a Red Sox lineup
against left-handed pitching that is the best in baseball.
They rake against left-handed pitching.
And you wouldn't have known that tonight because Chris Sanchez was absolutely dominant and he truly is morphing into first
off the most underrated pitcher in baseball.
How he was in an all star is beyond me and he is 100% pitching his way into Cy Young
consideration.
He is on arguably the best contract in baseball. They are paying an ace
virtually no money. It is a gift, the Chris Angel, especially with where this team is at money-wise.
That contract is an absolute gift. It's on nights like this and really this run
that he's been on where he's not walking anyone he's striking out a ton of
people where you just think about where Chris Sanchez was a couple years ago. I
mean I was ready to run Chris Sanchez out of town on a random Diamondbacks
game in the middle of the summer
where he could not find the strike zone.
He walked the bases loaded and then walked the guy in.
I was like, this guy, he can't mentally pitch at the major league level.
Then he came off of that one spot start against the A's in 22, I guess that would have been.
He came off of some random start against the A's.
I don't think it would have been 23.
No, it was 23.
It was 23.
And he came off for a random spot start and ever since that game, he hasn't really looked
back.
He has looked like a totally different guy.
He has stopped walking people, and two years later,
two and a half years later, two years later,
he is one of the best pitchers in baseball.
Out of nowhere, out of nowhere.
And for years it was Don't Trade With The Rays,
and Curtis Mead was a top 50 prospect.
It was like, oh my gosh, and they gave this guy up for Chris Sanchez.
Holy cow.
Look at what this guy's turned into.
He's a monster.
He's an absolute monster.
He's basically Hamill's reincarnated. It's the same pitch mix. His sliders can be a weapon when he needs it to be against left-handed hitters.
Fastball, change-up, it is just deadly.
It is deadly.
What a pitcher, what a trade, what a contract.
I mean, the guy, you can't say enough about
him. You can't say enough about him. Pretty easy to win a baseball game when your starter
can just go and do that. Man, what a night. What a night down at CBP.
All right, last thing here before we go to the phones. Some solid offensive baseball tonight I guess.
For a team that, now they had maybe one of the worst
base running blunders of I've ever seen on Saturday
against the Angels where they just completely
screwed that situation up.
Tonight some good base running.
Bryce goes first to third, good instinctual play. And then he steals home, which was fun, and catches interference slash balk, whatever.
Seemed like a pretty heads-up play by Bryce. So some good stuff there. Kepler went yard.
Maybe it's just being a hater. It actually annoys me when he does something well at this point.
Because I almost feel like it's too late
I don't he's going out on a high note. He's just it's just like
Don't don't don't get hot
now days before the trade deadline and
Don't just don't convince them that you're fine. I don't I wanted to be so blatantly obvious
that you're fine. I don't I want it to be so blatantly obvious that Kepler can't be here after August or after July 31st. It actually this this is so haterish
it's so much haterade but I I don't really want him to go off for the next
couple of days I want him to just go go out peace. Go out in peace. But Schwabber went yard again.
Absolute tank shot off of Richard Fitz.
Will not make more jokes about his name.
Dave is in Maryland.
What's happening, Dave?
What's up, Jack?
I feel the same way about Kepler.
Just when he hit the home run, I'm like, oh, please, don't.
I hope Stuporowski's not watching because you know, burn the tape, burn the tape. Yeah. I just
don't want them to think that they don't have to do anything out there. Cause obviously
hopefully they're smart enough to realize they do. But the, uh, we're just going to
catchers interference you to death to, uh, to score runs these days. It's what we do.
Yes, it's a bit now. We've got to get one tomorrow.
Just Sanchez is it's just fun to watch. Like usually, you know, you have some
nervous moments during the game and he just doesn't he doesn't give you that many at all.
You don't think he gave us any tonight and just dominating and it's
just nice to have that and if you're Dave Dabrowski and you
saw what you saw the last two nights on the Hill you can't not go do anything.
You can't just say what Middleton said that we got all these guys and we didn't we didn't win it and oh not you can't let the history of that, you know, prevent you from doing something big now I think this is a team where I think as you saw last two nights, if you have those guys starting four games in a seven game series Just need to score a little bit and lock down games at the end and you're gonna win. No, yeah
Get it done. Get it done Dave. Get it done Dave
Appreciate the appreciate the phone call for your namesake David Maryland for your namesake
All right, two one five five nine two ninety four ninety four
I mean, I know I know people are probably still locked in on the Nelly
concert, so maybe you haven't left the ballpark yet.
I mean, Buzz, were you telling me that Murph went straight down to front row?
You want to make sure he didn't miss country grammar?
He went down front row.
He's locked in country grammar, hot in here.
He said he was going to start taking some of his clothes off during that.
He is locked in tonight
Man, if I the number one Nelly head I've ever met well, he wasn't a Drake video
So he's he's hot in the rap game. Oh great Murphy was in a Drake video
He absolutely is in the video too for forever by Drake. I
Think I actually do remember he's interviewing LeBron when he played at the palestra Wow Wow
I didn't know we had a huge deal
So so I mean listen, he's in the Drake video. He's got street cred
He can go right up there on stage who would have thought who would have thought all right?
So Marv's enjoying the Nelly concert if you left an LA concert and you want to get in get in now two and five five

Here comes Harper, still at home, to play at the plate.
He is out at home plate. No, I think they're giving it to him
They're because he jumped out. He told her again. They're saying yeah
They're saying Narvaez came across the plate and blocked the plate Alex core is out and arguing with Jimenez
And now they're going to the third base on fire
They're gonna come together and talk about this one. Ruling on the field is correct the runner from third will score the runner
from second is awarded third and the batter is awarded first base. Wow.
I'll tell you what that was a tough one to try to understand on the on the drive
home but what a what a heads-up play play by Bryce. I like this version of Bryce that they are,
obviously not a huge take.
I like that he's hitting better
but there's a different level of confidence,
I guess, from Bryce.
And we talked about on the afternoon show
a couple days ago about Bryce and the comments about
I'm one of the best players in baseball and that thing he's been doing recently, which is pretty different than how
he usually talks.
Both Ike and Spike are immediately like, oh, he's talking about the contract extension.
I think it's a weird time, like the second he has a good game,
like now he's gonna start doing the contract extension thing.
So I didn't agree with him.
I think it's, I think he's like trying to hype himself
back up and remind himself that he's one of the best players
in baseball when he's healthy and when he's going right.
And it's almost like he's willing himself
because he was going right and it's almost like he's willing himself because he was going through
it.
I mean his body language with the wrist injury was brutal.
And now he stole home, he had a hit early, went first to third.
I know it's a really minor thing but it was against, I think it was still against Fitz
when he was, I guess, still in the game,
but about to exit.
And Bryce just missed a 96 mile an hour fastball.
He kind of threw his bat up the first baseline,
but it was towards the dugout.
It seems like he's getting his swagger back.
He took some vicious hacks tonight.
It's been a while since we've seen him take like real hacks,
you know, because the wrist thing and whatnot.
So some real positive things.
When you look at this team and you're trying to decide,
are you glass half full, are you glass half empty?
I think it's actually pretty fair to be on both sides.
I naturally lean more glass half full.
Well, part of that is what Chris Sanchez did tonight,
what Wheeler has done for a majority of the season.
But also, this version of Bryce is close to the guy
that we saw at the beginning and middle portion
of last year before he got banged up.
And the guy that we've seen for a majority of his time here,
which is really relieving given, I think,
how he felt before the All-Star break
or before that Giant series where we're starting to question
if we're ever going to get a good version of Bryce again
or a great version of Bryce again.
Well, the way he's playing right now,
he certainly looks closer to that.
The injury report is brought to you by the Plumbers Union local 690
Protecting the health of the nation visit plumber 690 org Joe Ross to the IL
Alan Rangel the owner of a five out save as
Buzz were you the first to report that fivenings if not five out my parents ron
hell not wrangle
so
is not accuracy jack
he had i'd like to have my
uh... my philly accent on it
wrangle
half the line of s yeah
so
uh... the as the entire for the longest saving in franchise history that's good
yeah you were the first report that I was all over it
Yeah, yeah, I'm sure I'm sure you were that seems like something you would be all over
But yeah, so if you could forget the what two-hour rain delay down in Atlanta that Mick Abel was supposed to start they
They blasted the Braves and about 1 a.m
Ron hell was closing out a five inning save.
So, Mick Abel got a game played when he didn't throw a pitch.
Listen, a win's a win. A win's a win. But Joe Ross on the IL, don't think we will miss
that. Blake Sinarberth, what's happening Blake?
Hey Jack, thanks for taking my call. Christopher Sanchez, he's just such a good pitcher.
And the change up tonight is outstanding again and I really think it's the best in the game,
better than Scubal.
I mean the hitters know what's coming and he still just strikes them out.
And I think actually in an interesting way, not making the offside game, it ultimately
is a good thing for him because it seems like tonight maybe that gave him the motivation
to really down the stretch. Yeah, I mean, he, when Sanchez can get on one of those kind of roles and it's that middle
of the game, you know, early in the game sometimes he kind of feels his way through it.
As soon as he can find that release point of the change up, it's just game over.
And the old adages with aces like he better get to them early, well Sanchez is the epitome
of that.
If you don't get to them early and he can find it, it's done.
He doesn't allow many home runs.
He doesn't get ripped.
He doesn't even struggle on the road anymore.
At least that was a thing last year.
It doesn't matter anymore.
He is just an absolute treat, Blake.
Yeah, and then I have a point about the trade dead on. I love the David Robertson signing,
I do, and I think it could be a little bit like Pedro in 2009 where he's a little older
but he still has good stuff, but down the stretch he's going to be fresh. But also,
I think that they should bring in a few other arms, at least one other arm for the bullpen, but I don't think it's going to be as pressing as
some people think for a few reasons.
They're getting Alvarado back.
He won't be eligible for the postseason, but they can really use it down the
stretch and the rest of the arms.
And in addition, I think they're going to put Lizardo in the bullpen.
Um, the playoffs painter could be available on ranger Suarez.
You could use in a game one situation after
piggybacking with wheel or something like that. So I think they do have a better situation
than it does look like currently. But I still want them to go after go like Chapman, Santana,
Kossay, Finnegan, someone like that. And in regards to lineup, they need to do a lot I
think. I like your point about the 2021 Braves. yes the 2021 Braves, where in 2021 they said, their general manager, we're going to just go after a bunch of guys
and see what sticks. I think the Phillies really need to do the same thing. Go after
a center fielder like a Luis Roberts, an Alice Call, and then go after a left fielder, a
Romain Lilliano, a Luis Garcia. But I think they need to just try to at least get a couple
of different options into this lineup.
Josh Bell isn't playing well.
He will stick because the lineup still does seem very, very top-heavy.
Yeah, and I appreciate the phone call, Blake.
I mean, that's where the Kevin Long, I guess Ashlyn Sullivan of WIP and NBC Sports Philadelphia,
she was in for Terran tonight and she talked to, you know, she was In for for Tarrant tonight and she talked to I guess Kevin long
he talked about the consistency and how he's happy with and it's not often you have
Not often you've all these guys so hot in the lineup at the same time
I mean once Kepler gets hot stop in this time. I just I can't I can't I can't get over just how
Relentless the Phillies offense is freaking relentless.
The direct quote is, every baseball team
deals with inconsistently.
Very rare to have six guys at the same time
who are staying hot.
Marsh Harper, JT, Sosa Turner, Bohm, Schwarber.
Are we serious?
I mean, yeah, for mixing in a single every once in a while.
But I don't know.
I certainly would have liked to have a lineup closer to the Angels I watched this weekend
that blasted baseballs all over the ballpark.
I mean, Kevin Long drives me up a wall.
But because like we watch his offense every single night.
If the top three aren't doing their thing,
it falls off a cliff.
Castellanos is like fine, you don't want him in cleanup.
You know, put Bones in there, it's fine,
but you don't want him hitting cleanup.
It's a hope and a prayer after the top of the lineup.
So, you know, and JT is like, again,
JT I think has the highest batting average in baseball
in the month of July, but it's a lot of singles.
Like they can hit singles.
That is something they certainly can do,
but they do not like do damage at all.
But yeah, and a lot of people have talked about it tonight,
it's just going to be the talking point heading
into the trade deadline.
I mean, it is what it is.
When you see Chris Sanchez do that, you see Wheeler do that.
I actually do agree with Blake.
And I'm getting preemptively annoyed because I think that
their big move is going to be for, like the all-in Dave move we've been waiting for is
for a closer.
To do that without just seeing if Kirk O'Rain can do the job and then not having to pay as much for some other good arms that aren't necessarily
the big Classe, Duran, Bautista type packages.
That bothers me because I think the bad is just so imperative.
Last night I brought up the 21 Braves and taking a page out of their playbook. Even Rob Refsnyder, Rob Refsnyder who no one knows
and no one cares about, he is an outfielder
who rakes against left-handed pitching.
Go get him and platoon him with Martian Leftfield
and go get Luis Robert and just throw a bunch of darts
at the dartboard.
You want to go crazy and you want to trade, even if it takes getting rid of Boehm or whatever
for Eugenio Suarez, who cares?
The Phillies' biggest thing offensively is they need to get past hurting guys' feelings.
I feel like the stop thing is they don't wanna hurt
the feelings there.
Boom, don't wanna hurt the feelings there.
Kepler, Castellanos got benched for defensive replacement
and has not been replaced defensively yet
in any scenario.
I just want them to get creative offensively
and take a lot of shots and not even just
one bat.
Go get Luis Robert and Taylor Ward, but don't just sit on your hands and say, throw your
hands up and say, well, there's not really bats out there.
Take a shot.
This is what you get paid for. This is what separates the
men from the boys in terms of turning your team into a World Series contender. And it's
like, you see Sanchez, you see Wheeler, you mostly have seen Ranger, you've seen some brilliance from Lizardo. You're getting Nova back. It's it is there
Go take it go take it
Charlies in Harrisburg, what's happening Charlie? Hey, so last night my three-year-old
Kept sneaking into my bedroom to watch the game. So I said, you know what? We're gonna go down the night and man
What a night it was
I'm just sitting there in the stands with him on my on my knee cuz he couldn't see keeping score and
Watching that gem was incredible Matt. No, you're keeping score for the game Charlie
What's that you're keeping score during the game? Yeah. Yeah
We're doing game and I
Heart that warms my head. That's workon in one hand and my spun on my knee.
When Kepler came up the bat I booed and then he hits the home run and I still booed because
I'm like just don't do it.
Don't do this.
It feels like everyone's on the same page.
Don't give us hope.
Don't trick them this close to the trade deadline, Max.
I was like, don't, I'm having a nice night with my son here, like, just, why would you do this?
That's so good.
And that's what makes me nervous, is that all of a sudden Kepler's gonna get hot, and he's like, oh well,
you know, getting Max Kepler playing this well is like our trade, and getting Novavac is like our trade, and
you know, just such a beautiful night to be in the ballpark and I just I hope they keep the momentum going
and they build I just hope they don't sit there and rest on their laurels that would
that would be the worst possible situation.
Yeah I totally agree Charlie and safe travels on your way back and again it sounds super
hatery.
I think we understand what Max Kepler is.
I don't need this turning into a Tyler Phillips situation where he throws a complete game
right before the trade deadline and the fillers are like, we don't need a starter, Tyler Phillips
is here.
Then all of a sudden they have the worst number five starter in all of baseball for the final
two months of the season and it cost them 100 wins and a higher seed in the post season and avoiding the Mets.
Alright on the other side we will have a look ahead to tomorrow and run the rest of your

The windup and the 3-1 pitch to Schwaber.
Hit in the air, center field, going back on it is Raffaella.
He's at the track, he's looking up, and he's out of room!
That one's gone!
Number 33 on the year for Kyle Schwaber into the Phillies' bullpen.
And the Phillies now lead it four to nothing. Another night
another Schwerbomb 33 on the year just after watching Richard Fitz you know
last couple of you know starts or whatnot and seeing some highlights it
felt like a Schwerber homeerun off him was a lock.
Just the kind of picture that I feel like he always squares up, if that makes any sense.
But yes, Schwabr continues his ridiculous pace, 33 homeruns after that.
Bryce is doing much better power-wise.
I checked this morning, he's already up to like an 875-ish OPS out of
nowhere.
He's like at 770 something.
And he only had the single tonight, but I think the power will come with Bryce.
But after that, it is, again, it's a hope and a prayer.
But at least it's just, everyone's so hot in the lineup and it's and the consistency. I'm just blown away by how consistent the offense is
According to Kevin long was there's no way angry. Don is actually angry about anything tonight. Is he what's happening Don?
Hey, man, I'm gonna be angry till after the trade deadline passes, but I appreciate you for taking my call, boss.
One quick point I have, one quick question I just kind of wanted to run past you.
If Aaron Nola comes back and Dave Dombrowski doesn't make the big splash move for any type
of bullpen action, do you trust Hazel's Lizardo and or Nola out of the bullpen?
And I hear a lot of haters on Max Kepler.
I got a quick fix for him. Just start Christopher Sanchez
and Max Kepler will give you production.
This was like the third time in a row
he's went yard at home when Christopher Sanchez is dealing.
So I don't know if those two really get along
with each other.
I don't know if they go out for steaks after the game,
but that's all I got, man.
Appreciate you for taking my call, go Phil.
That's a good stat. Don't have to look that one up. But that's all I got man. Appreciate you for taking my call. Go Fills. amount tomorrow. I would be shocked if Nola doesn't end up starting a playoff game. It
almost just feels inevitable at this point. And we'll see how Ranger holds up. I think
as of right now, if things are, if the season ended today, I would probably put Lazardo
in the bullpen. But I got to see where Ranger is going to be at because I'm definitely worried
about the workload
starting to catch up to him, and around this time,
the body has not been able to hold up,
and maybe he is the one that goes to the bullpen.
And Lizardo, he's just been so Jekyll and Hyde,
you know, the giant start, he goes seven shutout,
it's like, all right, there he is, there he is, there he is,
and then takes a step back against the angels. Clearly,
pitched above his head first nine starts,
but they're still really obviously high upside there.
Him and the bullpen could be a real weapon,
but luckily we don't have to make that decision on July 22nd.
We have a little bit of time here here, and Nola just, I don't see him being a bullpen lifter.
I think that he's a starter.
He is what he is.
Carl is in Borden town, what's happening Carl?
How you doing Jack?
Listen, I was at the game tonight
and I rarely sit behind the plate but it was
an absolute joy because Sanchez is, he had three pitches working, had the sinker changeup
and the slider all working and the righties can touch him.
The righties if they laid off it, he threw it for a strike and if they went for it they
flailed at it.
If it looked great on TV, if you were there live, it was simply unbelievable to watch.
He was just untouchable.
It was a real, real joy to watch live.
So again, if you think it was great on TV, you should have been there.
