WIP Jack Fritz hanging out with you here on this Tuesday night as
we react to yet another frustrating loss by the Fills and
one that could have been made a lot worse with some some injury stuff and
Just starts it just continues a a frustrating starts the season where it feels more the same than a totally changed
Team the game wrap-up is sponsored by Roto-Rootouter when plumbing problems hit wrap them up quick and call Roto Router
the team tackles
Clogs and leaks so you can stay in the game Roto Router your MVP for plumbing solutions to one five five nine two
Ninety four ninety four is how you get in if you were at City Field driving back
Maybe you left early you saw a lifeless performance and you said not tonight
Or if you watch the game on the couch like I did would love to hear from you as well
Let's get to the biggest takeaways of the game brought to you by Morgan and Morgan America's largest
Andre law firm and a lot like last night. It's
you just feel like you're watching a different class of baseball and
You feel like you're watching two teams going in opposite directions and you're watching a team
in the Mets that has self-belief instead of self-doubt.
And what was so evident and frustrating and really
a good microcosm, I guess,
of the difference between these teams,
is the two out hitting.
And there's a lot of frustration points from tonight,
but every single run the Mets scored tonight
was with two outs.
That's resiliency.
That's not giving up on an inning.
And it feels like every single time
the Phillies have two outs
and a runner in scoring position,
they don't come through.
And I mean, I know it's April 22nd and I get it,
but it is absolutely gut check time for this team to figure out what they want this
season to be.
Because there was some absolute garbage baseball tonight played by them yet again.
And what's annoying is, you know, they're playing like a team that, it's like last year
didn't phase them.
Last year didn't bother them.
Last year didn't create some kind of burning sensation in their stomach that they can't
wait to get back out there and prove to the baseball world, no, we had a bad stretch,
we had a bad week, we're better than that.
No, what you're seeing is a team that looks like is on its last leg. That's what you,
it looks like you're watching night in, night out. And it's a really frustrating part, a
spot to be in, you know, obviously that they don't have enough horses in the bullpen, but my frustration point
with with this team continues to be an
Offense that is overpaid and under performs
Again on a night in night out basis. Yes shut down by Griffin
Canning tonight and I know that he's he's had a good season for the Mets and the Mets
clearly have some kind of pitching lab that they've developed up there and guys
have gotten better you know the Phillies obviously you know they have they have a
really good pitching development system too it's just you watch the Mets and you
watch the Phillies and they don't even look like they belong in the same field
one team has belief one team looks like they're having fun
one team looks like that they they they can't wait to get to the ballpark and one team looks like they're just
dead and and they're just
slogging through the day and and just
moping around a baseball field and
the two innings that that really pissed me off tonight is
First the top five top fifth top of the fifth
Start singles to lead it off great
Trey three pitches three
freaking pitches and he strikes out of
Course, there's some chase involved in that. Harper walks next.
They move up to second and third. Two outs. Okay. Here you go. Get the breakthrough moment.
Nope. What does Nick Castaigones do? First pitch is in the frickin' first base dugout.
And he's swinging at it and then he goes down
Later in the at bat on a similar pitch. I mean that's the that's the bull crap that
sunk them
Five months ago. That's the crap. That's the nonsense. That's the losing baseball. It's a joke
It's a joke.
It's an absolute joke.
It is terrible baseball.
Terrible baseball.
Top of the sixth, Max Kepler leads off with a walk.
First pitch.
First pitch.
JT Real Muto grounds into a double play threat over inning
over it's that's that's infuriating and to make matters worse later in the game
Kyle Schwab gets picked off because he gets deeked by Tyrone Taylor in
centerfield after after they blew it and made it 5-1.
I don't care if it's 5-1. I don't want to see Schwab in the lineup tomorrow.
Do something, do something.
That's inexcusable.
Orion Kirkering, get a freaking out.
I mean, get an out.
It's two outs, it's Alonzo, you're in for that spot.
You're a high leverage reliever.
Do your job.
I mean, do your job.
Why every single night, it seems like these guys
cannot do their job is beyond me.
Beyond me.
Why do they swing at first pitch
when they don't have to swing at first pitch?
Why are they rushing to get out? Why aren't they working counts?
Why are the bullpen arms not coming in and getting jobs done? I
Orion Kirkering if he's not gonna be if he's not gonna be great this bullpen has no shot no shot
Get Alonzo out get Alonzo out. It's as simple as that. It's as simple as that. Oh
My god. Oh, it's it's it's just brutal. It is just brutal April 22nd
yelling and screaming
unbelievable
Travis
California joins show what's happening Travis?
What's up, Jack? Yeah. Yeah. How you doing, buddy?
Not great probably about the same as you right now, I
Mean everything you said is like perfectly on point, but the thing that's just really
Taking me off the side like to add on to what you said is just that this team
like
They just it just seems like it feels like they
cannot win a frickin series at truest part of the city field and I don't know
why especially six four six four nineteen since 2022 at City Field six
four six for the last nineteen yeah it just feels like like every time they
have a series in Atlanta or a series in New York it just feels like why should I even watch like it just feels like every time they have a series in Atlanta or a series in New York, it just feels like, why should I even watch?
It just feels like every single time they're just going to roll over and they do all...
I understand they beat the Braves in the playoff in 2022 and 23, but I don't care anymore.
That was freaking two years.
Just freaking show up.
You're the NL East champions.
Good for you.
When the Braves had a million injuries and the Mets
were
Terrible for the first half of the season like nobody cares anymore
You can beat up on the Marlins you can beat up on the Nationals good for you
show up to Atlanta show up to New York and get a pair of balls and stop rolling over and
Show them you're there and like your piss like. Like Atlanta, I understand, like whatever,
they don't have much more to prove against them.
Fine, still win a series.
The Mets, they freaking embarrassed you last year
in the NLDS.
And they show up this year and they look like,
they just don't wanna be there.
Like how are you not motivated?
Like us fans sitting on the couch at home
can't stand the Mets and want to beat the crap out of them
and the players show up and it's just like,
they're just like, oh, what you do?
Like whatever. Like I I just I don't understand
and I guess like I'm not done yet sorry I'm just I'm so frustrated just let it
all out buddy let it all out I just I just don't understand how you show up to
city field in Truist Park every single series and roll over like the Braves
were one and eight when we played them and we've fucking made them look like an
all-star team
And of course they got their mojo back now. They're gonna be ahead of us in no time like in my opinion
maybe I'm being a little dramatic, but
It just feels like the magic that they had in 2022 and 2023 is gone
I could just like there's just nothing going on with this team. It just feels like I don't even like them
I don't know. I don't know what freaking Garrett's stubs with the glue. I don't know what the hell the issue was begging for stop. We're begging for stop Z bring it back
I have no idea but like it just feels like it's just a group of guys that just like don't even like each other
I just showing up in her miserable every day like yeah, and just one more thing. Sorry, I knew you got to take other calls
I'm not trying to single anybody out
but like Bryce Harper the fact that he signed with the Phillies and suddenly cannot hit at City Field is just infuriating.
Like you're making $330 million over your 13-year contract here. You're supposed to
be the face of the franchise. And even like last year, I actually didn't realize this
until the series in Atlanta. Apparently he didn't home her against the Braves last year.
It's like, dude, those are the two teams that we like really need you to show up against.
Like we're supposed to- Yeah, but he's killed the Braves. I mean, he had the home runves last year. It's like, dude, those are the two teams that we really need you to show up against.
Like, we're supposed to just.
Yeah, but he's killed the Braves.
I mean, he had the home run there this year.
Yeah, he's not good against the Braves, but like.
Yeah, he's not great in the city field.
Yeah, it's fine.
Cut the baseball at city field, and it's infuriating.
And the bullpen, I don't even know,
I've called you a million times and talked about the bullpen.
I just, I still don't understand how Dumbrovsky had
thought it was gonna be good enough
after last year having Hoffman and Estevez, I still don't understand how Dumbrovsky had thought it was going to be good enough after
last year having Hoffman and Estevez and even like Sarantheni with higher upsides, Soto
with high, like it didn't work out then.
I don't understand how he thought it getting worse was going to work out.
Like the Braves are making like little tiny fringe moves in their bullpen.
Like at least they're trying something like they like, they're just continuing the same
thing over and over, making zero additions, zero subtractions. Like they're not doing anything.
They just keep showing up every day doing the same thing over and over.
And the manager just has this attitude like, Oh, we'll get in the model.
Like, no, you won't. No, you won't. I like,
nobody thinks that they're going to win them all.
The players probably don't even think so.
Like they can beat up on the Marlins and the nationals all they want until you
show up and like you grow up here and you stand up against the Mets or the Braves in their stadiums and win
A three-game series like I will not I can't take this game seriously. Anyway, I just literally cannot I appreciate the phone call
I I I think it's becoming more and more evident and really it was evident when they lost to the Mets last year
That they needed to shake up they needed a shake up and I know that you're probably going to lose a deal if you, but
sometimes you got to take a step back to take a step forward and this team continues to,
they didn't respond the way that you hoped they would have responded.
I think that's becoming more and more clear.
You know, they didn't respond, again, You doubled down and you did the same thing two years ago.
They lost the Diamondbacks and you banked on the inner fire
carrying them through and it worked
for a majority of the season.
But when they went out the way they went out
to just run it back and no, I mean,
Lizardo, 100% great trade.
Great trade. Gray trade.
Romano, positive side, Kepler, I think he's going to be a good player.
But that's not the, they're just, they're just fringe moves.
They're not waking anyone up.
They're not, they're not shaking anything up.
All this is, is more of the same. These guys are too comfortable.
And again, they don't have the inner fortitude
that I think a lot of us wish they had.
And I just think this series has been so eye opening
for a lot of people.
And I think that's what makes it that much worse
two one five five nine two
9494 on the other side we will get to the biggest story of the game the player of the game and
development up in Lehigh Valley all that's coming up next here on the final out on sports radio 94 WIP
Welcome back. It is the final out Jack Fritz hanging out up next here on the final out on sports radio 94 WIP. Welcome back
It is the final out Jack Fritz hanging out with you here on
this Tuesday night as
we react to a another lifeless performance from the Phillies and
One thing that's that is becoming
Obviously, there's a million things that are frustrating, but you watch the difference
between the two short stops and Lindor's, defensively it's obviously not even close,
but leadership wise he's bouncing around, he looks like he's having fun out there obviously getting big hits and
Sure, it took him a couple years to settle in to New York
but that's that's the frames of school or the door that we saw in Cleveland for a long time and
you know
that's a guy that you paid a lot of money to that is
rising and and getting better and living up to the hype and looks like it
be the best player in a championship team or the second best player in a
championship team. One of the biggest problems with the Phillies is they have
Bryce Harper who I think we agree can be the best player in a championship team
but that second guy just really isn't there. I mean it's probably Schwabr
but I think on a team that you hope can win a World Series I think Schwabr
should be your fourth most valuable offensive player, third sure, but he's
been second and it's at times he's been their most valuable offensive player
it's been a great signing and want them to resign him
It's not a knock on Schwerber
it's just you paid that guy a ton of money to be the second best player and a guy that is gonna help you put you the
put this team over the top and
It's just not even close. It's it's not even close. I know he had the
Four hate game over the weekend, but it's a lot of singles. It's a lot of just piss-poor at bats.
And obviously we know about the defense.
And with him not being,
like I think the frustrating part
about the trade conversation is he's still a good player.
When you look at the overall numbers,
it's gonna be bare out that he's a good player.
She's not a special player, he's not a star player.
And you look at this team and it's where are the stars?
And we talk about the stars, you look at the lineup,
you look at those lineups tonight
and it shouldn't even have been close.
That's, again, on top of everything else that makes tonight frustrating.
You look at those lineups and it's a,
it should have been a mismatch.
The Mets lineup after Alonso,
Vientos has hit in 167.
Like he's had a horrible start to the year.
Starling Martez, Cooked, Luis Terenz, Tyrone Taylor,
Luis San Alacuna and Jose Azucar. Who can I? I've never heard
of, I watch baseball every single night. Never heard of in my life. Never heard of in my
entire life. That's a mismatch. That's a, that should be a mismatch. Scott Turner, Harper,
Schwab, Percassianos, Kepler, Real Muto, Boum, Rojas. Rojas is the lead with even average. Like Rojas had a good hit tonight.
He struck out three times, but whatever.
Like Rojas is starting to at least put some thump
on the baseball, I don't know.
But that should not, you should not lose that game.
Now obviously part of the reason they lost
is the big story of the game, which is the injury report,
which is brought to you by the Plumbers Union Local 690,
protecting the health of the nation.
Visit plumber690.org,
and that is the Christopher Sanchez injury.
And he said after the game
that he'd never felt something like this before,
but he's confident that it's not structural damage.
He threw a lot of pitches early in the game,
a lot of high stress pitches, maybe.
That could have caused it
Hopefully it's more precautionary
More than anything, but obviously forearm tightness. We know what that leads to
So it's almost you just wake up tomorrow and pray the MRI goes
Well when there's adrenaline like it is right now that's flowing through his body
I'm sure he feels fine who knows how it's gonna respond in the morning.
So, you know, I've seen the Phillies do this
a million times with injuries where they say night of,
ah, it's fine, fine, fine, and bang, he's on the IL.
And I mean, the most classic example
is like when Hoskins tours ACL,
Rob Thompson was saying he was like jogging around
in the locker room.
It's like, no, no, no,L. We don't don't start you know
saying
Trying to get people's hopes up
So I hope everything is fine with Sanchez but forearm tightness
We know what that leads to I and when we know that what it guys we know what it can lead to
So that's obviously a concern now the nice part is is
They do have Some some depth here to where they should be able to now obviously if it's if it's the worst of the worst
It's a totally different
Conversation, but they should be able to absorb an injury if he has to miss a couple starts
you know they can shuffle some some some guys around because of some off days and
Ranger tonight up in Le lei through five scoreless
and allowed two hits and
um, you know look like ranger from all the reports that we saw so
Ranger obviously we know that painter's on his way again. I hope sanchez is perfectly fine. They do have some
Some some guys that are getting closer I mean even if they have to dip into a Mick Abel who is throwing really well, but Lehigh Valley
I know that he had fallen off prospect wise but
You know, it's kind of taking the a nice leap this year. So
Obviously we will monitor that one but Chris Sanchez not too much concern post game, it seems like.
And Rob Thompson, similar saying they don't believe there is structural damage.
Where is my guy, Dave and Marilyn, what's happening, Dave?
I don't even know what to say, but the Turner second at bat,
with runners on second and third two outs, if you just look at the
pitches that he swung at, what is he doing?
It's like there's no plan.
Like you said, he went four for five, but the OPS is 600.
The other guy that's just frustrating as heck is BOM
I mean, yeah, you have two hits, but they're all singles like
Hold on they tell me all the time that this team slugs
They have 12 they have 21 home runs this year 12 by Harper and
Harper and Schwab er and then that I mean
We played 24 games. The next highest is three.
Well, is it bad they've allowed 30 plus home runs?
Is that not a good mix there?
Not a good ratio there.
I just feel like they, I don't know,
it feels like one of those years that the Mets have had
in the past where everybody thinks they're okay and
it's just gonna, I think this year's gonna, it feels like it's just gonna blow up.
And sure, I mean, it might be what they need. I don't know, it might be like what they need to
realize this is just not gonna work. Is it just totally fail and hit rock bottom because
it's had in that way. Well, the the problem is Dave and the scary part for
me is that the Mets, I mean David Stearns is just getting started there and they
got Soto and it's not like he's been that good. He's batted 2-30. No he hasn't been good.
And I mean but like like you said with Lindor you just look at the energy.
He is starting, I mean, like, it's taken him a while
to adjust, but he is a, he's a leader, he's a,
like, you know, he's a captain of their team,
and, you know, it's what they say Schwaber is for us,
but Schwaber isn't our best player.
Like, you can't, like, I mean, he can only do,
like, he can only-
Well, he can be a part of it. it and the stuff that he pulled tonight like ah
terrible the base running what the heck is that it's terrible I mean I just
don't know what's going on well at some point can someone just can someone just
be held accountable for something like sure sure we'll understand it sure
really like I don't know when it became so taboo, and it's 100% with the analytics
movement because of win probability. Shortboard not being in the line of tomorrow gives them
the worst chance to win. But it could be better in the long term. I love Kyle Shortboard.
That can't happen tonight. Make an example out of one of the important players and a
quote unquote leader of the team. I bring up Charlie and Jimmy all the time.
People always talk about Jimmy and the,
not running out of the first base
and that's when he benched him.
He benched Jimmy Rollins in 2009
for throwing to the wrong base in Tampa Bay for five games.
Like, I just, I don't get it.
Just sit him tomorrow, sit him tomorrow, see if get it. He, just sit him tomorrow.
Sit him tomorrow, Steven sends a message, who cares?
Like the series has already been a disaster, Dave.
Who leads off tomorrow is the question.
That's what Peterson going.
Like what's the lineup look like tomorrow?
I just have no idea.
Just leave Scott there, just leave Scott there.
Who cares?
I think you do.
He's hitting the ball and you can't put Turner up there
I mean, no, well, I don't know. It's just like I feel I feel like, you know, I know we're 24 games in I know
it's a a
Like, you know, you really we watch these games we react every night, but like it's there's something wrong
They're just like you can yeah, I just sent it. There's something wrong
Totally totally and I appreciate the phone call David. I
Think everyone I if you're one of the fans that still is not reacting
God bless you. I don't know how you do it
But the the mojo of the team just just feels off
I mean this whole thing just feels off and
I know a lot of people are saying this is the Bucs game with the Eagles last year where they're two and two and
That Bucs game they have Lane they didn't have AJ Brown, you know
What whatever I know that I know that the bye week and that they they figured some stuff out
Of course, I just don't I just don't get the feeling from this team I know that the bye week and they figured some stuff out, of course.
I just don't get the feeling from this team.
I just don't.
They feel like a dead team walking.
Maybe they need rock bottom to wake up the front office and make it so painfully clear
to Dave Nebraska that he needs to make kind of of change to shake up something here
He's got a he's got to try something
Start at the leadoff. That's the that's the big change. I mean fine, but
Man, I just it's a it's a it's a terrible watch almost every single night
Andrews in Roxborough. what's happening, Andrew?
Hey Jack, how's it going?
I'm sure not great, right?
Not well, buddy, yeah, not well.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Well, I just wanna say, been listening to you for a while,
listen to the show, high hopes, love it.
Thank you, buddy.
Been a big fan, yeah.
I'm sitting here in my living room pitch dark in agony, about ready to shed a tear.
24 games in the season.
I just, I literally can't like with this team, like it's actually ridiculous.
Like what they've been doing.
And like you've been saying, like everyone's insane tonight.
It's like the approach at the plate with runners on is inexcusable.
Like it's feeble.
Like I don't understand.
Like there's, like you said, there's no plan.
They have absolutely no plan and they have no idea what they're doing.
And it's like sitting here watching the game, it's like, it's almost like comedic.
Like you watch the game and you're all you're like, oh, yeah
Let's see how they let's see how I screw this. Oh, you're waiting for them
You're waiting for him to screw it up. It's yeah the lack of faith that we have in them
Like again a perfect example is the Mets two out hitting versus the Phillies two out hitting
the Phillies the Phillies are chasing out of the strike zone and
Begging to get themselves out and
the Mets are putting together great at bats and getting big hits.
And I mean it's just, what's so frustrating is that the Mets, they brought in David Stearns,
obviously a smart front office guy.
And like I think the Phillies and Mets pitching wise, I think Cotham is on the level that
they are.
I think that Phillies and Mets pitching wise, I think Cotham is on the level that they are. I think that's fine.
But hitting wise, the Phillies feel like they are absolute dinosaurs when it comes to hitting
development versus that Mets team where they look like they're up with Modern Times and
even like that Giants series last week.
That was evident too.
That was evident.
Oh, it's Kevin Long.
Bringing him back was beyond lazy.
Yeah.
And I was at the 11- 4 game with Noel on the hill,
so that was my first game of the season.
I got to take my girlfriend out to her first ball game
of the year, and she was like, what am I watching?
And she's not a big baseball fan,
and I had to apologize to her multiple times.
She was like, this is not the product
that we've seen in the last couple years.
And I think I'm about to hop on a plane to London tomorrow and I think back to last year where things all really fell
apart so it's pretty pretty full circle that you know we're coming back to this
moment I'm already 24 games in a season so like I said I'll hop off but thank
you Jack it's just it's a joke and I'm already ticked off and I'm sure a lot of
people are too. Well save travels to London and maybe you go into London will will change the mojo around the player the game is
Brought to you by South Jersey gas conserve helping customers and the community save energy and money

He blew it open then again
Ryan Kirkering not able to come in and do a job and if Ryan Kirkering is not gonna take a step forward
this bullpen those already
running on fumes is
Is is he an even more?
deep doo-doo
On the other side we'll get to a look at tomorrow get more your phone calls
And there actually was some positive developments from the bullpen tonight all that's coming up next on the final out on
sports radio 94 WIP welcome back it is the final out jack fritz hanging out with you
here for the next couple minutes for handing things off to ashlyn sullivan she'll take
you through the rest of the night here on the station and judged by the phone calls
people not happy and absolutely do not blame them at all a
lot of frustrating aspects of this team on top of
Possibly losing one of the best pitchers in the National League Christopher Sanchez
Again after the game Rob Thompson said they don't think it's gonna be and they don't expect any structural damage Chris Sanchez
Echoed something similar but again when
there's a lot of adrenaline the night of I think it's kind of hard to get a gauge
so we'll see how tomorrow goes and hopefully wakes up and everything feels
mostly okay and maybe misses a starter too but obviously we know forearm
tightness we know what that can lead to and Man, I just really really hope that that is not the case
Drew was in Westchester. What's happening, Drew?
Hey, Jack. Um, yeah, just driving back from the game. I was there
I'm so sorry. Well, you know, look the weather was just too good to pass up
So but I did make the decision to not I
Went for the upper level seats because i i wasn't sure how close i
wanted to be to the crime scene that might unfold
which ended up being correct about so
but we thought it wasn't too close to the action and didn't pay too much
sure be there but i don't know
but but the i'd have
it like
what comes into play here i mean the i'd have to obeyed a baseball fan you
don't have to have played
the game at a high level
uh... to
to have the i can't be something that tells you
and make you act like what am i watching like
what am i watching in terms of not knowing what a ball or a strike looks
like coming out of a picture panaming for veteran players like
turner you know everybody copy on a family or a strike looks like coming out of a pitcher's hand. For veteran players like Turner and everybody, Castellanos,
I mean, it's like they just look silly,
especially with runners on base,
and it's just frustrating to no end.
And it's just, I don't know whether it's the approach
that comes from, is Kevin Long an influence here?
I mean, should a head roll just to shake things up?
I mean, I wouldn't be opposed to it. I mean, we've been watching the same thing over and over, you know if kevin long influence here i mean should i had rolled just to shake things up
i wouldn't be opposed to it i mean
we've been watching the same thing over and over so
yeah i'm well and they also just might be a man was that some guys are born with
the ability to track a baseball and some guys are
are not i mean that might be what we're dealing with here as well but same time
i mean
what's what's going on about tray is that is that last night he did work two walks and
there's been some signs of it. But it's like when there's a pressure situation and you
get so amped up and he doesn't have a slow heartbeat that he just rushes to do everything.
Same thing with Cassiano. Cassiano's just hitting over 300 with runners in scoring position.
They get so jumpy and they never seem calm. They never just let
the game come to them. They always try to hit that seven run home run. For a group of
veteran players, they just seem so clueless up there. So clueless. Yeah so it's frustrating to watch and but I'll be
honest I mean my my ire is directed mostly at Dumb Rousky of anyone player
coach manager the GM to me is responsible for for this and for no
progress for the past two years basically so't you know he he's the one that
basically had
you know captain team basically
pretty thing you you've talked to it i mean pretty much on change in terms of
the lineup and just
week here and there you know with mary field two years ago now it's not
kepler
what are you doing like so
why i want the philly in
or so after this why i want the philly in? So answer this. Why weren't the Phillies in on Kyle Tucker? Why,
why were we not in on him?
Well, listen, there's, there's two different camps here.
You know, the one camp is, well,
why do you really want to trade the prospects for a core that you is getting
older or do you want to extend the window and you know bring
up and develop the Aidan Millers and the Crawfords and the Painters and I mean they gave up Isak
Paredes who's a pretty good third baseman and they gave Cam Smith who I know no one
here really cares about but that's a that's just a better prospect he's in between Painter
and Miller I I guess,
and the Phillies just don't have that guy.
So they're kind of stuck in a situation of,
they don't wanna put the cupboard bare
for a guy who's gonna hit free agency.
I mean, Kyle Tucker, I'd be surprised
if he signed an extension in season.
And like, do you wanna give up all that for a rental?
I think that's the decision they made.
It sucks, he's unbelievable, but I do get it.
If that, if that makes any sense, Drew.
Yeah, I mean, I get it too.
I mean, I do, but it's just frustrating.
It's frustrating that, you know,
we have to just run this back and not,
and not surprisingly 24 games in, this is what we're seeing and yet
they're seven and two against the nationals and marlins and
and you what you know what was that I can't that they keep the rock you try
and they're six and nine against real baseball I mean you know it
it's only 24 games but I'm you know but but
you know but but we know these guys we can't do
do what they do and
over the course of uh... the last three regular season certainly
it has not been any kind of a juggernaut team
and uh... two months
first two months of last year you know so
yet uh... you know felt so it's it's it's it's just frustrating and i don't
know what
you know i don't know what the catalyst could be to change it other than these
guys look at themselves in the mirror
But you know if you want to get rid of Kevin long to shake it up. I'm all for that
all right there he goes true in wesh ester and the frustrating part about dumbrowski is
Obviously he set the team up to fail with the bullpen heading into the year
I think that's pretty inarguable at this point and
Just not even finding an interesting kind of arm that that has some upside that's frustrating but he spoke his strength if
it's not gonna be analytics if it's not gonna be whatever it's supposed to have
it's supposed to be having a good feel for a ballclub and knowing what wins and
what doesn't win and to do this again and be back in the same spot seemingly
is it's a miss and that's supposed to be his calling card he's gonna back in the same spot seemingly, it's a miss.
And that's supposed to be his calling card.
He's gonna go on the Hall of Fame one day
and he won a pennant here and that's great.
And he was really good early.
But these last couple of years of just running it back
and expecting things to change and believing in the guys
and not shaking up the chemistry,
you're kind of watching this season so far
and you hope, again, I hope this isn't the case,
but you know, I think there's certainly a feeling
this could just be a waste of a year.
And that sucks to feel in April 22nd,
but I think there's some of that kind of sentiment brewing
out there.
Tomorrow, Zach Wheeler looking to play stopper
on the mound against the Mets obviously David Peterson goes for them
He you know
He's had some really dominant starts against the Phillies and they they tagged him for I think four runs and four innings the last
Time I played last year, but he's had a really good start at the year 2.7. The RA
Had traditionally has walked a lot of guys but last two outings have hasn't hasn't walked the batter and Wheeler
You know, I thought last time I got some Marlins is really good. It's the Marlins tomorrow be a step up in competition
Last week he went away from his four seamer a little bit more like I am
traditionally used to watching Zach Wheeler power his four seam up in the zone to
Miss bats and against the Marlins
I wonder if it's a change of arsenal. He used his two seam remorse to do that and get swing and miss.
And it was dancing.
So, I mean, I feel like he can just do whatever and it's largely going to work.
But hopefully they come out tomorrow with a win and can at least salvage something and
maybe have a little positivity heading into the off day and then obviously to Chicago
to face the Cubs.
So a tough, tough week here of Phil's baseball,
and it hasn't been the best start, that's for sure.
Either way, that's gonna do it for me.
Thanks to everyone that hung out tonight.
We will, I mean, the afternoon show tomorrow,
Ike's, Pike and Fritz, we will react post-game
to what is hopefully a Phil's win.
But at the current state,
I don't know about that one happening.
Ashley Sullivan, she has you next. She'll take you through the rest of the night here on Sports Radio 94WYP.
