Starting point is 00:01:11 BetMGM operates pursuant to an operating agreement with Eye Gaming Ontario. I don't know if it could, Lori. I don't know if it could. Welcome on in. It is the final out, sponsored by the Philadelphia Barking Authority. Jack Fritz hanging out with you here on this Monday night as we react to yet another Philly's loss. And I know I'm so sorry. I understand that there was another big win tonight in the city.
Starting point is 00:01:40 I am mired in misery watching this baseball team do the same thing night in night out. So I do promise I will keep this short and sweet because I know Broads is probably frothing at the mouth to get on and talk about the hockey team. But I've talked about the baseball team. The game wrap-up is sponsored by Roto Router. When plumbing problems hit, wrap them up quick and call Roto Router. Their team tackles, clogs and leaks. So you can stay in the game, Roto Router, your MVP for plumbing solutions. 888, 729-94-944 to get in.
Starting point is 00:02:18 If you happen to be in Chicago or watch the one on your couch like me, would love to hear from you. It's probably just going to be another venting night. You know what else? How would you fix them? How would you fix? And we all got ideas, right? We all got ideas.
Starting point is 00:02:32 I mean, holy cow. What a... Want to use words he can't use in the radio. The biggest takeaway is the game brought to by Morgan and Morgan America's largest injury law firm. I understand all well that these guys are trying. I get it. it's pathetic right now. It's feeble.
Starting point is 00:03:01 It's stale. Just watching them, they don't look like they want to be out there. And Rob says after the game that, you know, these guys are, you know, the energy's high and the vibes are high. And they're picking each other up. Well, there's nothing happening on the field. There's nothing happening at the plate to really react to. So, I don't know. what I feel as a fan watching them is they don't look like they want to be out there,
Starting point is 00:03:32 and I don't know how much they really believe that this thing is going to turn around. I don't know if they do. Last six games, they've lost six straight, by the way. They've been outscored 42 to 10. 42 to 10. They have the worst run differential in the sport. They haven't had a hit with a runner in scoring position since last Tuesday, just a hit with runners in swearing position.
Starting point is 00:03:59 I don't know what the solution is. I don't know what the magic elixir is. You can fire Rob Thompson all you want. Knock yourself out. I don't really care. Like, okay. I would find it very hard to believe that all of a sudden that that's going to make this team turn into something they're not. They are just a deficient team. They are a deficient, offensive team, and you know what? The pitching staff isn't doing them any favors as well.
Starting point is 00:04:30 And you want to talk about not playing complementary baseball? How about one of these pitchers grabs this thing by the stones and says, here's seven shuddy. Here's seven shuddy. We're paying her in all $172 million. It's kind of hard to believe that they, they, gave him that contract. It is still hard to believe that they gave him that contract. And with how they are going offensively right now, you as a pitcher on this team cannot let this thing
Starting point is 00:05:07 go off the rails early. You don't demoralizing those guys in the dugout right field when all of a sudden it's for nothing. And Danzby, you're watching that ball that's a 92 mile an hour a meatball down the middle. Go 420-some feet as the nine-hole hitter who's hitting 188. You know how deflating that is? The pitchers have to do their jobs, too. They're not doing their jobs either. No one's doing their jobs.
Starting point is 00:05:37 The pitchers aren't doing their job. The bullpen's mostly not doing their job. The hitters we know aren't doing their job. Rob Thompson's not doing his job. The Browson didn't do his job in the offseason. Who knows what Kevin Long's doing. This whole thing, this whole thing reeks. It reeks.
Starting point is 00:05:56 They scored in one inning again, which if you missed the stat going around earlier, I think that's now their 11th game, 11th game in 22, that they have scored in only one inning. They're 30th in baseball and doing that. It's the bit of the season. Oh, it's thrilling. Oh, it's amazing. It wasn't Chris Sale out there tonight.
Starting point is 00:06:21 It was Colin Ray. Colin Ray. Did you, were you sitting there tonight? Wowed by Colin Ray and how his stuff was just so electric? How could they possibly square it up? Oh, it's just dreadful. And it feels like there's no end in sight. Like, how, I've gotten to the point, and this is sickening.
Starting point is 00:06:46 This is sickening. I've got it to the point where I don't know how they're going to win a baseball game. I don't know how they're going to do it. What is the path to them winning a baseball game? I know it sounds dramatic. It's hyperbolic. I understand it. But it's excruciating.
Starting point is 00:07:02 Six straight losses. They've lost six straight since 2019. 2019. You know, this sucks. I'm very happy for the Flyers. This sucks. Taylor's in Scrant. What's happening in Taylor?
Starting point is 00:07:18 Hey, Jack. You know, I feel bad for Bryce. I really do. I mean, your GM comes out in the offseason and basically, like, lays you out to the media, saying you can't be elite anymore. So he goes out and he's putting up, he's not exactly elite,
Starting point is 00:07:34 but he's putting up really, really good numbers. And not a single guy that the GM said he was content with behind him is putting up an OPS over 750. It's insane. Yeah, I mean, did they have... here. They have, besides Schwerber, I mean, Marsh has to be the only one with an OPS over 700. Right? I mean, that has to be it, right? I'm pretty pretty pretty fit in that like
Starting point is 00:07:59 730. But you can't find one league average hitter to hit behind him? I know. There's no reason to pitch to him anymore. It's the same thing every year. I know. And they're trying to dole's right there right now. He got a hit tonight, but is nothing. But he has, he stopped hitting the ball hard. There's no. one they can put there. I mean, there's simply, there's not one player they can put there. It's crazy. It's crazy. I mean, at this point, do you think about just flipping him and Kyle? Like, just put Kyle in the four holes, see what happens? Sure. There really isn't that many answers you can come up with. I mean, the idea that was
Starting point is 00:08:34 supposed to be bone, but he's so far in his own head, it's unreal. Yeah, and I, I appreciate the phone call, Taylor, and he, you could, you could see it all over his face. I mean, you really can. I mean, the one that they could do, and I just don't, I don't like, I don't like it because it's, he, he'd be hitting fourth. But, I mean, Justin Crawford just put together good at bats. Like, I know he'd gone through an over 12 streak heading into, or he had a hit yesterday, but he, like, kind of cooled off. His average was down to, like, 273 or something. but I mean, I think he knows what his job is. That bat to start off the 9th was really good.
Starting point is 00:09:25 It was professional bat. I know they don't want to put too much pressure on the kid. But I mean, you could go Crawford, Turner, Harper, Schorber, if you wanted to give it some length and see if you can get some jolt out of Justin Crawford to the top of the lineup. At least I think he's going to be a pest. There's nothing worse. is making soft contact.
Starting point is 00:09:47 And now he almost hit one out and hit a ball harder than the ninth. But when he goes up there and he's just swinging early and it's just a measly little pop-up, it's dreadful. Just a dreadful viewing experience. Just a dreadful viewing experience. All right. On the other side, we'll get to the player of the game. And I don't know who or what we need to sacrifice, but they've certainly pissed off a big
Starting point is 00:10:11 portion of the baseball community. We need to discuss what's going on with that. Coming up next here on the final out on Sports Radio 94, WIPA. Welcome on back. It is the final out sponsored by the Philadelphia Parking Authority. Jack Fritz hanging out with you here on this Monday night trying to keep it as clean and concise as I can. As I know, it was a big win for the boys. Wednesday night, going to be rocking in South Philly.
Starting point is 00:11:38 It's going to be a lot like that Braves Phil's 2012, Game 3, where all of a sudden the The camera's going to come back and it's going to pan and it's just going to be a sea of orange. Remember the good times of the fills? It feels a good decade ago. The player of the game brought to you by South Jersey Gas. Make the smart play Save Energy and Money with South Jersey Gas at SJG Save Energy.com. And I'm giving it to Colin Ray. I understand that Danzy Swanson hit the home run.
Starting point is 00:12:09 Danesby Swanson stinks. And I refuse to give him any acknowledgement. Colin Ray also stinks, but you know who else thinks the Phillies currently. We'll get some thoughts here on who the Phillies need to make up with because things are really, really in a bad spot in that department. Will is in South Philly. What's up, Will? Jack, ma'am, here we are again. I know. This is rough, man. It's starting to look routine. I call this a workman-like loss because that's how it felt.
Starting point is 00:12:43 I mean, they just, it's the same old story, right? Nola gets you down early, and the bullpen keeps you in it, but it doesn't even matter because they can't hit. It was a workman-like loss. That's a good way to put it. That's a healthy way to put it. Yeah, you like that five times they got a lead-off guy on. They only score once.
Starting point is 00:13:01 What are we doing? Well, that's different one they usually do, which is get a base hit with two outs, and then usually a guy walks, and then they have a back breaking out. Or you got Raphael Marshaun, who won't wear it on a two-two-three, count and give them a run early and maybe that sparks them.
Starting point is 00:13:17 Maybe getting beaned will hurt them and they'll wake up a little bit but no, we can't wear a two-to pitch either. Right. And speaking of Marchand, I mean, not having JT tonight was killing them in the second and the ninth. They really could have used the bat there and then it just puts you in a bind with having pinch hitters. So I was like, do you know anything about JT?
Starting point is 00:13:37 I mean, they just say it's day to day. Is that all we know? Yeah, I mean, it's day to day. they want to stay away from him, I guess. But with the way the Phillies have handled injuries, I just expect to wake up tomorrow and he's going to be on the IL. And then you basically just wasted a couple days where he could have at least had stubs here
Starting point is 00:13:53 to where if you needed to make a switch, they could make a switch. So, yeah, I don't know what's going on, JT. I mean, they say day to day, but again, they've been so weird of injuries. I just expect him to be on the I. Thanks, man. I got to say, the Cubs,
Starting point is 00:14:09 they've got to be thanking their lucky stars that they're playing the Phillies, seven games. in like two weeks because, man, they're just getting up for us. I mean, Swanson was, like, struggling. Swanson was batting ninth, and, of course, he gets up, face his old buddy J.T. Or, I'm sorry, Nola. I mean, so I got a couple theories on how we can fix this. Okay.
Starting point is 00:14:29 I've heard a lot of talk, heard a lot of talk about Harry the K's fixing that. I don't know if it's that, but I know that they took that clock out in center field. I don't know how you feel about that. Well, yeah, the clock is definitely going to stay at least through the All-Star game because they have the big, the big advertisement there. They should just bring back her at the case at this point.
Starting point is 00:14:48 I guess I'll be back up here. I mean, whatever it takes. Whatever it takes. Yeah, the All-Star game. I'm really excited to, we'll finally have some talented players take the field in Philly. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:00 Yeah, I appreciate the phone call, Will. Who's going to be the All-Star? That's the question. I got to get Dave in here. What's happening, Dave? Jeez, it's just depressing. Every night. coming home. I got home, you know, mid,
Starting point is 00:15:15 mid-second inning and we're down for nothing. And it's, uh, yeah. Well, it's just depressing. Like, is there any thought to, and I, that talked to you about this, like moving Trey Turner out of the lead off spot. I just feel like, I feel like maybe putting Schwerber there, then Turner, then Harper, like, do something different because it's, he just
Starting point is 00:15:41 he's flailing away at pitches he doesn't work I mean he walked once tonight I saw but like the you know the one pitch at bats it just gets old and uh I don't know and then boom is there you know I think
Starting point is 00:15:58 that they need to do what they did to March last year is kind of phantom IL him and take them give him some of bats down in AAA to see if he can get maybe maybe get going that way And just play Sosa for a month and see, you know, if Alec can get himself going. Otherwise, at this point, you can just get rid of them and release them because, I mean, he's not going to get you anything in the trade market.
Starting point is 00:16:25 Well, for true sickos out there, Carter Keyboom is hitting 313 with the 811 OPS, former first rounder. Come on. I did do that. Carter Keyboom? bring up Carter key room and stubs and uh you like do something like there's no there's just no I mean I understand when you don't hit there's not life but there's just it
Starting point is 00:16:48 you know you listen to Rob Thompson after the game saying oh the guys are trying to you know a lot of energy that that every time you panned it the dugout I do not see anything of what he's describing so no no and the worst it feels like they're all just waiting around for the home run like it just does It feels like they're all waiting around for someone. It's like you can't play baseball that way.
Starting point is 00:17:11 Yeah, the Braves this, the Braves this weekend, just like, you know, I looked at like Dubon and he's just like just punching the ball. Like they have nobody besides Crawford that can do that. And like that's what, like Bryson's stop. That's what you should be is somebody that can do that. And it's it like he can't even get the ball of the outfield anymore. It's like, it's just depressing. Oh, well, hold on.
Starting point is 00:17:37 He's got a seven-game hit streak. He's hitting 307 during that streak. What are you talking about? When I look at this team and you've seen slow starts and there's just something different with this start that is just doesn't feel like it's ever going to come out. And I, like, I could see a 72 and 90 season on the horizon. Oh, my gosh. Dave, I appreciate it.
Starting point is 00:18:03 At least we're all going through it together. Again, the other team is just playing so well and it's so fun. And then there's this team. So we've got to figure out what the Phil's did of the baseball gods. Now, maybe it was Harry the case, who knows. But, I mean, some of the nonsense. I mean, just nonsense. Turner ball on the first is a home run that doesn't go out.
Starting point is 00:18:28 Schwabber play top seven, where Nico Horner makes an unbelievable. leaveable defensive play. Shawl diving catch in the ninth. Just another example of not only the Phillies not playing well, they're not catching a single break. Pitching-wise, they usually have a back-breaking hit that's a bleeder over the second baseman's head once a game. And then offensively, nothing falls in for them. Nothing falls in for them. So they're a tough combo of not playing well and snake bitten. It's crazy. Every single night.
Starting point is 00:19:03 How many balls this year have died at the wall? How many? It feels like once a game, you're like, that's gone. Dyes. Dyes. Meanwhile, other teams are just launching. They got to figure that one out. Get the analytic department team on the horn with the baseball gods
Starting point is 00:19:22 and figure out what it is. If it's Harry the Gays, we'll put it back up. I can't make that call, but I feel like we're getting close. Tomorrow, we will, on the other side, we'll give a look ahead to tomorrow. And the wow moment of the game that includes me wondering if Rob Thompson is trying to get fired. We'll get to that. Coming up next here on the Final Out on Sports Radio 94 WIP. Local news is in decline across Canada.
Starting point is 00:19:48 And this is bad news for all of us. With less local news, noise, rumors, and misinformation fill the void. And it gets harder to separate truth from fiction. That's why CBC News is putting more journalists in more places across Canada, reporting on the ground from where you live, telling the stories that matter to all of us, because local news is big news. Choose news, not noise.

Starting point is 00:20:42 Concern about your gambling or that of someone close to you. Call 16-531-2600 or visit connexontera. Welcome back. It is the final out. Sponsored by the Philadelphia Parking Authority. Jack Fritz hanging out with you here on this Monday night is we got a four games set out in Chicago. just go one and three.
Starting point is 00:21:02 Just go one and three. We'll get to a look ahead to tomorrow, but it is the wow moment of the game, which is brought to you by the New Jersey Division of Travel and Tourism, from Waterfalls to Fairways, Mountain Resorts to Lighthouse Tours. Find your wow at VisitNJ.com. It is the top of the eighth. Hobie Milner, who could forget is nasty brother in the game.
Starting point is 00:21:26 Rob Thompson. He elects to let Brandon Marsh face him. He gets out. And then, with runners on first and second, and really your last kind of shot, he lets Bryson Stott face him. And I know, sarcastically, I said he's in 304 in his last seven games, he's not seven-game hit streak.
Starting point is 00:21:54 But, and I know he said after the game that... they had a righty up in the pen. Okay. So what? If you bring in... If you bring in Reyes for Marsh, then you bring the rightie in, and he's in there,
Starting point is 00:22:17 and then Stott is in a more favorable position. So it was sitting here. They're down 5'1. They're going to lose anyway, probably. what is that? That is, that's nonsense. And like, Sosa's right there. You can leave Milner if he wanted or righty can come in. Who cares? I feel much more confident in Sosa's ability to get a hit against a righty than Stott's ability to get hit against the lefty. And to just let it happen where Hobie Miller's been really good for a couple of years now.
Starting point is 00:22:59 Super, super tough on lefties, very funky. It's nonsense. It's absolutely nonsense. Felix Reyes has to get a bet in one of those spots. Has to. Has to. You've no thump. He's got some thump.
Starting point is 00:23:15 Do something. I mean, that is, that's like one of those moves where it's like, well, non-moves. We're sitting there saying, does he know what's going on? We're just let this one slip away. We've let a lot of games slip away. I have no idea.
Starting point is 00:23:32 Tomorrow it is Lazzardo, who, I mean, of all the Phillies that have to get going, he is a major, major one that has to get on the right track here. Everything underlying, all the peripherals, all the advanced things under the hood. Everything looks good. The results have not been. He's let things unravel more than last year. He's looking kind of like how he was in Miami, where really, really good, and then blow up. He's got to find that consistency.
Starting point is 00:24:02 And then Imanaga, I mean, 26 whiffs last time against him. What's he going to do tomorrow? At least it'll be a little warmer, so maybe that'll help. But hopefully there's a more grown-up attack tomorrow. But I got to be honest, with the numbers against left-hand starters, not feeling too confident in it. So it's a fun time for feeling. baseball but you know what it's a great time for flyers hockey and broads my guy i know is just frothing at the mouth to talk about to talk about the hockey team so i'm going to take one more
Starting point is 00:24:43 i'm just kidding brods that's going to do it from me on the final out tonight enjoy broads go flyers put a smile on your face we'll worry about the baseball team tomorrow at 740 and uh don't worry I'll be back before the game and after the game reacting to it all. That's going to do it for me. Louis Coco, produced the program tonight. Brods is next here on Sports Radio 94 WDYP.
