They are just sitting there and waiting for something to happen but nothing is happening and they just continue to waste it bats, waste time and waste people's money because that's what tonight was. That's what the stretch has been stop saying they are resilient you are not resilient they are not a resilient baseball team we know what resilient baseball teams look like

and that's not one of them tonight that's not even close to a resilient baseball club 17 fly ball outs 17 to a guy that I don't think could pitch in the PSAC. I don't think he could pitch Division 2. this? Because just showing up rolling out the ball and hoping today's the day is clearly not working anymore. going to be way to be locked in there. Trey makes a brutal error. Just feel the frickin baseball. Like I don't need to hear more about all the work they're doing. Just just just feel the damn baseball. It's it's it's literally's literally, I see it every single night. It's every single night, I feel like a ball hit to him is like a 50-50 toss-up. Can't happen. And then JT and Boehm on the seventh. That's still what, a four-nothing game at that point?

the mound. It's not, that's credit to him. As me as a fan, that can't happen at that ballpark. Like something has to happen. Something has to happen. You cannot keep doing the same thing over and over again and just be like, yeah today's the day. We're definitely gonna snap out of it. And if it comes down to you have to send someone down, like to get the attention or get them to wake up or do something. I mean it's getting to that point. It's getting to that point.

Like we can talk about the division all you want like okay They're probably still gonna win the division if they don't whatever it's a huge collapse Like they're blowing the one seed and the two seed at the same time They're not far up there. I mean they're like a game up to where they could be playing in the wild card round Like Brandon Marsh is is completely lost. I mean he struck out two more times than I think he's again Shrug out in what 42 of his last a hundred and four at bats like what are we doing here? What are we doing here? But my goodness, I just I can't believe This is what we're watching. I can't believe I got to still hear about how resilient they are where where tell me where the resiliency is

Like they just, they gotta send a message dude. They gotta, and I know it's not it's not all on Marsh like everyone sucks but Marsh has been brutal dude, like they got everyone seems to like him so they got to send a message and like They got to do something like it cannot hurt to send him down. I guess is what I'm trying to say The problem is they already can't hit the outfield Anyway, and it's like we're playing Rojas or playing I mean, I know Marsh is completely lost but like holy cow

I mean if even if you sent him down, it's like okay, we're going with Cal Stevenson. We're going with Johan Rojas like yeah Listen they want to play Weston Wilson for a couple games knock yourself out play Mundo Sosa like you like What does it Mundo Sosa have to do to get in the lineup like they need him in there? Yeah, exactly. I didn't even realize until after the game today. Rojas is average now. I know average isn't the craziest stat, but his average is higher than Stott and Marsh now. Those two have been brutal.

And what's crazy, real quick, what's crazy is like, this Marsh thing, for a majority of the season, he's holding pretty steady like two fifty five two sixty ish i mean there's one for his last twenty three i think bryson stoddard's before he quit he's never been able to get going like it like it and we don't know so that's the last mile because it's not it's

it's enough to know it's it's it might not happen this year i got a couple things real quick. Yes. And then last thing about Marsh. It just shows that deciding to take him from a platoon back to suddenly an everyday player at the deadline, obviously, is not panning out. Still have no idea why they decided to do that,

but whatever. That's beyond me. They also talk about how resilient they are, like you're saying. But they literally all look miserable. They clearly look like they're going through it. And it's like, dude, literally like just show an ounce of fight or something.

Like they just keep talking about like, oh, it's not affecting us, it's not affecting us. But they all walk up there, they pop up and they hang their heads. They like walk off, they sulk away. And it's like, dude, literally show like an ounce of emotion. Harper is like a hothead all the time.

And when this stuff's been going on, like through his slump, through the team slump, it seems like he just does not care. And I'm like, you know, it's weird to me because I'm sure as you know, you watch all the games, he is a hothead. Like when the umpire rung him up tonight, I feel like usually like he'd argue a little bit,

but he kind of just sat there and was like, all right, and walked away. And I'm just kind of like, hmm, I don't know, just a little weird. Usually he's a little more emotional, but like I said, right now he's just like, yeah, whatever. And I'm like, dude, show something. Like maybe you getting tossed

will fire the team up or something, I don't know. Nah, and I appreciate the phone call, Travis. I think with him, I think with him, he is, you know, because I mean, what was it, two weeks ago, he's getting fired up and people are like, you gotta be a leader, you gotta be stoic, you can't let your emotions kind of overflow. And I feel like, like I do not buy for a second that he doesn't care. I'm sure he's incredibly frustrated.

And like that, I'm actually glad that Travis brought that up. Like again, you know, you're already losing at that point It's the fourth inning. It's a two-two pitch. That's not even close Like that's an opportunity for Rob Thompson to like show a pulse again. It's is it gonna turn everything around I don't know but like I thought it was weird to how he's just like Not my day, I guess like that's not that's not Bryce. And I just, I think we're looking at a broken team that like just needs a spark somehow. And like overall, like I'm not giving up on the season.

Like I, it would sound I think ridiculous at this point. But yeah, well, they suck. They're gonna, you know, be well under 500 the rest of the way. I just think that they need a spark somehow that's gonna snap them out of this and then they'll probably be fine. And then obviously hope that whatever happens in the playoffs happens, but like,

just sitting around on your hands waiting for today to be the day is not the answer for me at this point when Again seven sixteen since the break and before that it's like they were playing they were lighting the scoreboard up. So Something's got to change the guy like rolling on the same line of tomorrow and just hoping that that's the day Like I just I think we're past that point and it's it's time to find something else other than like I trust these guys They're so resilient. I I'm not we can't do that again. Two one five five nine two 94 94 is how you get in on the other side

They found a way to go lower tonight. They really did.

I mean, this is, for the time being, I guess, like, that's rock bottom. That's not even close. And, like again, having to hear about how resilient they are, like, that drives me nuts. We would have seen some resiliency by now if they had that kind of resilient-ness.

Show me you're resilient before I got to hear about how resilient you are. That's the thing that's driving me nuts is I got to hear toughness. We're locked back in. We got this. And the little Thompson chuckles after the game like Don't need it right now. Like do not need it right now. I

I could use some passion. I could use some fire. I could use some I don't know a grind-out type of an at-bat. I mean again 17 fly ball outs tonight. 17. Everyone's trying to hit a 7 run home run and it's not working. This is the offense that sinks them into postseason the last two years is an offense that is trying to just sit there and launch. I believe that they're now 11 and 23 in games where they don't hit a single home run. They have to find other ways. Trey Turner does not need it.

The worst thing that happened to Trey this year is he hit all those home runs. I'm convinced of it. He hit all those home runs. I mean, I'm convinced of it. He hit all those home runs, and he's like, I'm a power hitter now. No, you're not. You should be a 320 hitter. God forbid, I mean, like 340, like he has that kind of speed if he wants to,

but like you go up and down, Stott's trying to hit balls out. Bryson Stott is a singles hitter, is a gapper. Why are you trying to be a home run hitter? Brandon Marsh, I don't even know. Like I don't, I mean, not a home run hitter. Johan Rojas is the one that drives me up a wall. Johan Rojas has put together like good at bats for himself.

But like even him a couple times there's like just trying to launch baseballs. Then Castellanos who again has been fine I'm not looking to rip Castey. By the way I could use like a Castey like team meeting you know kind of fiery speech I think that would do good but even him there's a couple times tonight tonight, just pop-ups. Like, you were not, let Schwerberg and Harper try to hit home runs. Everyone else, like, strengths in the baths together.

You know, work pitchers. I just, I don't know what they're doing. And the player of the game tonight is obvious. that's a tough part it's like if I felt like they were fighting and we did see some some extra umph and like it wasn't just kind of rolling over and dying like we've seen I think there'd be more of a push behind it but you felt it tonight I mean the second time Walker walk came out there and walked too bad, people were just, were pissed. Because what stinks, Cammie, is that this is supposed to be a special season. We didn't need 115 wins, but they're zapping what should be a pretty fun ride in the regular season, and then bang, October gets here, and you ride off into the sunset. People are terrified that this thing's gonna collapse,

and we have, I mean, again, 60 year anniversary of 1964, like we're gonna have to deal with this. I agree, I agree with you. I mean, two years ago we went to the World Series, that was super exciting, it thought we were gonna, like we all thought we were gonna do it. I was the big stuff there and then it's like, you know We we we we blew it then to against the diamond back and now they apparently own us just like the Marlins own us. Like what, like, what can we do to like, like, like what needs to happen here? Cause we have the team, right? Like it seems like we have the team. We have the pitchers, we have the hitters, like they're just not doing it. They're not performing. Yeah.

Like when things are going well, everything's fine. But man, it's like when things turn, it's a whole team-wide epidemic. And it begs the question of like, are they frontrunners? Are they just, like who is having the tough conversations?

Like who is, and I know they scoffed, they scoffed at the idea of having a team meeting. But who's having it? Is it Cassianos? Like I think he's like my last hope of a player kind of getting in everyone and being like, no, like what are you doing out there? But at the same time, like they had to wait for Castellanos to heat up for two and a half

months. And like, listen, I think people simplify baseball a little too much when it comes down to the manager, to where, you know, it's like, we're not stupid when we say we want Rob Thompson to try something differently. It's actually stupid to sit there and be like, whoa, the hitters have to hit. No bleep, congratulations, you figured out baseball. The hitters have to go out there and perform.

But it doesn't mean that Rob Thompson can just kind of sit there with his feet up and say, nope, today's the day they're gonna turn around. Like, part of being a great manager is finding things to help your team out when they're down and the chips are down. And I've talked a lot on the station the last two days about Charlie and I think that people compare

Rob Thompson and Charlie and to a large extent, they are similar. Charlie, pretty much laid back, but we saw him get fired up 100%. Like we've seen, we see Charlie Manual, everyone talks about the benching of Jimmy, that's fine, whatever, the Jimmy thing happened, but there's also plenty of other examples

where he had a firm grasp of that locker room. And just again, being the substitute teacher, like Rob Thomas was, and being the cool guy and hands off, like are you a difference making manager or are you just along for the ride? And that's the big thing that I wanna see now for the stretch run here is like, what is Rob Thompson? Because when the team's going well,

they're hitting a bunch of home runs, and it's pretty easy, yeah, sure. It's easy to be a manager. But when the chips are down, when you're 30 and 35 or whatever and seven and 16 since the All-Star break, I need to see what we can do here to drag the team out of this and get them moving back in the right direction because continuing to just roll the ball out of this and get them moving back in the right direction because continuing to just roll

the ball out and expecting something different, that's a fine strategy two weeks ago. But it's just continued. It's just absolutely continued. And the biggest problem, and I teased this before the break, that this team's gonna face is a totally different ballpark than they've dealt with for a majority of their time here.

The majority of the time here, now, like mid summer 2022, people weren't totally in. You know, they were like, you know, people were checked out on the team and that's fine. But obviously 2022 postseason happened. It's euphoria in there. It's the jungle. It's the greatest place on earth. Last year, regular season, like ton of fun. And I mean, they got to a slow start. It wasn't like the most fun thing's the jungle. It's the greatest place on earth last year regular season like ton of fun And I mean they got to a slow start

It wasn't like the the most fun thing in the world the ovations happen and it's like a fan base is the greatest And then they go in the postseason They don't lose a game until game six and again the post see the the crowds the greatest the biggest thing that this team's got to deal with is the other side of Philadelphia they're gonna have to deal with the nasty side They're gonna have to deal with people on their ass like every single day To wake up and snap out of it like can we mentioned the standing ovation thing while I love it like a If you want to do it knock yourself out like I'm just too mad at them

Like I'm too mad at them to do the standing ovation thing like that ballpark unless they turned around and unless that they Figure it out here and we can get back to not stressing about them because I think that's why the the emotion Against them is so strong right now is because they're stressed out about the team Like you're gonna have boo-birds. You're gonna have, you know, people restless. You're gonna have a tight ballpark and they haven't really dealt with that. This court at least during their entire tenure here. They're gonna sell out every night. People are gonna be there every night

and like early in the game, it's not going the right way. They're going to hear boos. And it's going to be interesting to see how they handle it, because we've seen other teams not exactly handle it great. But that's just my feeling of where this thing is trending, if they don't write the ship here soon, is that that ballpark is going to go from the best place to play to, I don't know, maybe the Aleph Bow

might be bleeping hate this place I hope it doesn't happen, but he could sent it tonight people were fed up early early in that game and it's only gonna get worse especially When you're losing to the Marlins or the Nationals of the world It's only gonna get worse on the other side to look at the tomorrow your phone calls plus the play of the game It's all come up next on the final out of sports radio 94 WIP Welcome back. August 13th August 13th. I think is the night that they officially broke me. Like I've been obviously downtrodden, you know, I just again I've tried to explain this to people. Some people get it, some people don't, you know, it's either either I don't know. Like I don't know how not to care. Like I just, I literally, I think I love this baseball team too much. Like, to where their reactions are so strong one way or the other. But it's just, you try to hold it together for so long to where it's like, you can keep telling yourself, you know, they're this up in the division, best record in baseball, we can't use that anymore. Like you just keep telling yourself and telling yourself, even though you watch them every night and it's like, oh my God, this is excruciating.

And then tonight happens, like really three or four in Arizona where you just get dog walked and again, get pretty much embarrassed to where they're doing replica rings, they're playing A-OK, they're making fun of dancing on your own and you just got no teeth, you got no fight, you got no backbone. And then you have tonight where you're facing again, I don't think this guy could get out in the P-sack. And you're just making him look like, I mean, it's so vintage Phillies of making someone

that no one's ever heard of look like Cy Young. It's the longest going Phillies bit this century is making absolute scrubs look like that they are world beaters. And to just lay down and have Taiwan on the mound, like it's no fault of Taiwan's, it's just he's mostly excruciating to watch. And you know, on top of everything else the team struggling

like having Taiwan on the mound is is not a great recipe for a happy ballpark but tonight's all about the offense and it's just like again someone's got to come in tomorrow with something to make everyone laugh and loosen everyone up or something because again doing the same thing over and over and over again, when it just, it's just not working. Like if you want to change it up and then go back to whatever, when they get something moving in the right direction, knock yourself out.

But I would just be so annoyed if it's the same line of tomorrow. Like Sosa's got to play. And like, do I think Sosa we're all beater no, but like every time he's in there, I feel like he's getting a base hit or something and then defense still pretty good like Sosa's turn the season around no, but like We just got to try something. We got to try something because it's it's just
