Wow, how do you like that?
Thank
God welcome on and it is the final out sports radio 94
Wip Jack Fritz hanging out with you here on this Monday night as
we get to react to a Phillies win. We get to react to the baseball team eking one out
and what was maybe maybe just maybe one of the dumbest baseball games I have ever seen a True team effort in both a positive and a negative way, but one in which
the Phillies come out on top and and thankfully so because it has been a
Brutal stretch a brutal stretch a lot of a lot of reaction hot and heavy whether I mean
I was getting from all angles
I was I was out in public over the weekend people are mad at the Phillies
Obviously being here on the radio people are mad at the Phillies social media
Everyone's mad at the Phillies. It feels like they are a hot hot button issue right now and for at least one night
Mostly we get to put the pitchforks away
Mostly we get to put the pitchforks away

755-992-9494 if you are on your way home you stuck around for that one
41,000 at the ballpark on a Monday night, which is really really great to see
But if you're stuck in traffic or you watch someone at home
Would love to hear from you and get your takeaways on what was an eventful night
Down at the ballpark the biggest takeaways the game brought to you by Morgan & Morgan
America's largest injury law firm. Well, I think you saw some desperation
from the Phillies tonight.
I think if you were wanting to see that from them,
I think they showed that.
Now, I don't think they've been playing bad.
I think that obviously some of the bats are annoying. I think it's more they might not have the horses
But I don't think they were weren't they weren't not giving efforts, but it was good to see
at least the
Good amount of fight tonight. It was good to see some some well executed stuff late
now before that not exactly the the most
crisp of games but this is a team that went out there tonight like their backs
were up against the wall and you know Marsh gets the hit there by the way I
hope that is something that can get Brandon Marsh going. Brandon Marsh can be a good player
for the most part this year. He has not been a good player, but maybe
maybe that hit and the one before that coming off the bench late gets him going and maybe that just
release. You know, I thought it was it was refreshing. I mean it was refreshing to watch them celebrate and
I'm sure that
There is a couple of you out there there was sitting at home
Still mad at how they won that game and mad at how happy they they looked
By being able to squeak out a win that they probably didn't really deserve to win
But for the for their own sanity for hopefully snapping them out of this funk,
I was glad to see them react like that.
I was glad that it wasn't just a, man, did we really even deserve to win that game?
It was a real reaction.
I loved that Turner was right there splashing water in Brandon Marsh's face.
I liked how excited Brandon Marsh was. I liked how Rojas and him did the
celebration. I liked that they dumped water on AutoKemp after the game. I liked that Schwabr was the one that did it. This team's
got to get back to having some fun and looking like they want to be there and fighting for one another and maybe that was just a big old release of pent up
frustration for what has been a just brutal stretch.
I mean I think they lost what seven and a half games in the standings or six and a half
games in the standings in 15 days.
That's a pretty big free fall and I think that that reaction that you saw tonight was was letting it all
out and and having some fun and knowing that you're not out of it you're not out
of your funk it was not a perfect game but you were able to get a win and at
least for one night for one night you get to exhale now the other side
there was a
lot of bad baseball
I mean a lot of bad baseball they grounded into four double plays tonight could have been six
Every single big moment. I was like here go here. They're here. They come here
Here they come JT grounded to onem grounded into one in a huge spot.
I know the bunt gods and the bunt people, the small ball people, they wanted Alec Bohm to bunt there.
I don't have any confidence in Alec Bohm laying a bunt down.
At the same time, I don't have much confidence with Alec Bohm with a bat in his hands.
And another good reaction from him tonight as he struck out on three pitches in a semi big spot huge
Bat spike and helmet slam, but you had what six could have been dull plays for that were actually turned
Three outs in the base pass. I mean so so gets thrown out early in the game
Turner picked off in his defense. I thought it was a balk but whatever still and
And then real Mutes are Cassianos for absolutely no reason. I mean absolutely no reason now
the
negative side, I guess to
to
desperation and playing with your backs up against the wall is that it can lead to bad mistakes and I think that's what
tonight was was everyone trying to play hero rather than just playing your game and playing
good solid baseball and hoping that good things will come from that so again it's one of those
games where it's probably more of an exhale it It's like, oh, thank thank. Thank. Thank god
We can at least we say won a game
But they're not out of the woodwork yet and you look at those those two offenses
I I know that the cubs they had five hits or whatever
Every single one of those guys come out to bat and I it looks like they're going to hit a ball 800 feet
whereas the Phillies it's like
it looks like they're going to hit a ball 800 feet. Whereas the Phillies, it's like they got two guys at the top and everyone else is a question mark.
Cassie, I said three hits tonight. It's pretty quiet. Three hits. I just,
whoo, 16 hits tonight by the Phillies and one extra base hit.
It's, it's a lot of singles. It is a, a,
a whole lot of singles
But at least for one night they're able to
Scratch and claw one out, but they're definitely
They're definitely not out of the woodwork yet Two one five five nine two
Ninety four ninety four to get in my guy data Maryland leads us off tonight. What's happening Dave?
Offensive Alpers tonight. I mean geez Louise 16 hits
But like like you said, no, I think the Cubs two hits traveled further than the Philly 16
Yeah, seriously. They're just there's no don't no pop in that lineup at all right now
But I'm gonna be I'm gonna try to be positive
AutoCamp great great job with you know, a couple a couple three knocks
I think it was one bunt one well two bunts almost, but good for him.
Good for Marsh coming up big.
Marsh is a hit against Presley in his biggest bat
in his life against Presley.
That was a good sign.
Would've liked that three years ago.
I said I would've two or three years ago. Was that I said I would have liked the marsh three years ago against Presley in the in Game five of the of the twenty two World Series.
Yeah.
Game five of the World Series when he swung at six pitches there three pitches in a dirt
went out down on three three three strikes but overall good win.
You know just nice to nice to feel win.
Hopefully that you know but like I think you said,
they're not out of the woods.
The lineup is gonna be a problem.
The pitching is definitely good enough
to keep them in game.
So if they can figure out a way to scratch across
a few runs, but if Bryce is not hurt for a long time,
I'm done watching Alec Bohm play baseball.
Yeah, it's excruciating, man.
He is, it's the bat, even when he gets hits,
it's just like, it's usually a single,
it's usually a couple singles.
I know he had the big double on Saturday
where he should have scored, but that felt,
I mean, that felt few and far between.
He just, he just does nothing for me.
He really does.
And I think his energy just, his energy just saps the team.
He has loser energy and at this time they can't afford that.
No, no. We need more uplifting now.
Ten over, I think they can... One other thing. Did you think Thompson should have walked Crow Armstrong there. Yeah, and I appreciate the phone call Dave.
It's so funny, cause I feel like they just don't do it.
And I guess you don't want to put another runner on.
I can't believe how good Pete Crow Armstrong is.
Every swing he took, I thought the ball
was going to get launched.
It was like he's swinging a tennis racket.
But yeah,
Carlos Hernandez actually thought looked decent for,
for Carlos Hernandez as standards. But it's tough.
Two one five five nine two 94 94 is how you get in on the other side.
We'll get to the pitch count and the player of the game.
Plus some more overall thoughts
on tonight.
But a win, a win, a win.
We're back in the win column.
10 games over 500.
Certainly hasn't felt that way.
We'll get to your phone calls next here on the final out on sports radio 94WIP.

Conditions apply. Swung on line to left, that's a base hit. First major league hit for Otto Kemp
into the alley and left center. It'll be cut by Pete Crow Armstrong, but boy what a ride for Otto Kemp
undrafted signed after college out of a division to
School he's got his college coach here today. His family is here today
And they've just seen Otto pick up hit number one in the major leagues
And they've just seen Otto pick up hit number one in the major leagues
Yeah, that was certainly cool Otto camp gets his first big league hit division two could have been me but regardless we're sitting here
On the final out. No, just kidding. It is a it's a really cool story It's funny not to get two in the weeds here, but I got a camp
Undrafted makes major leagues this other guy Keaton Anthony, is a double A hitter
for the Redding Fightin' Fills right now.
Another undrafted guy that they are getting good production
out of, he's got like a nine something OPS in double A.
But some success with the undrafted class.
But AutoCamp, I mean, I know he had with the era earlier
in the game, looked pretty fine fine over there has a strong arm
He just reminds me of like an old-school
Cardinals type player, you know and
You need those kind of guys. I don't know if he's an everyday guy. Could he be an everyday
Swiss army knife type that gives you value at a ton of positions?
Maybe, if the bat's good enough. I mean the bat may be good enough. I mean I know he had
some shaky numbers against off-speed pitches in the minor leagues, but he can also work
on that as he gets more used to major league pitching, but he just said some winning stuff from him
So far in his in his Phillies tenure now, he had a nice hit there
he technically had three hits say what that bunt I would say a
your little league coach would be proud of that bunt that he laid down and
It's little but that that kind of stuff that kind of stuff matters so I
Think there's some some some winning qualities to autocamp. I think he had a good at bat against skeins
Yesterday where he where he where he hung in there and worked a walk, which was good to see I
Don't again. I don't know how good he's gonna be but I think he is a
Major league quality player and someone that you know
the Cardinals had for a lot of those years you know Dodgers I feel like they
always have these guys and come up and play a lot of different positions but
provide value and the Phillies just haven't really been able to to do that
they feel like a very stuck team so maybe AutoKemp can can can break the
seal I guess from that standpoint.
But either way, happy to see him get the hit there, got the third base.
Now I will say, little Kingery PTSD, seeing him wear the number four, don't love that.
But there's some winning qualities to AutoCamp, and it seems like he's going to get a good
amount of playing time here as we go along.
The pitch count is brought to you by the Plumbers Union Local 690. Protecting the health of the
nation, visit plumbers690.org. 103 pitches for Zach Wheeler tonight. He, for the most part,
looked like Zach Wheeler and usually doesn't like a ton of time off, so it's good to see him
be pretty sharp. We'll see how he bounces back next start but you know his last
start was not the the most crisp and tonight I thought was a really good
bounce back performance from wheels. Look like the Zach Wheeler we've seen for a
majority of this Phillies tenure and majority of this season and
congratulations a thousand strikeouts in a Philly's, you know from the fastest
Phillies pitcher to ever reach a thousand strikeouts. So good stuff from Zach Wheeler
Kenny from the dirty 30 coming on from the game. What's happening Kenny? Yeah, Jack. How you doing buddy?
well, you gotta win Kenny celebrated my 60th birthday down there Wow and
It's a great game. But I you know what?
Hemp's got to stay because I don't want to see
Alec Bohm ever again.
I don't know what's wrong with him,
but he is so far into his head.
He tries to pull every ball,
and he hits these weak ground balls,
and he says, I'm done with him.
I'm done with him.
Can we just do something else besides him, please?
Well, maybe after the year.
They tried last year, and obviously,
they weren't able to get anything done.
He's just, he's just a zero. And he and he just for me he zaps a lot of energy from this team and
Like when he does that he throws all his stuff, you know on a night that you're winning
You're trying to grind out a game. You already have two hits. It's just it's like what are we doing here?
it's just, it's like, what are we doing here?
Kenny, come on man, lock in. I'm still here, my phone just keep zipping out.
Spoken like a true 60 year old Kenny,
like a true 60 year old.
Yeah, I know, I know, I know.
Not able to get the technology working.
What are you doing?
Is that better?
Yeah, it's better.
D'Orazio is gonna go crazy on the jolly drops
now that you're uh, oh my god
Make me sick. He does he does make me sick. Oh man to what do I owe the pleasure of talking to Dustin in the Northeast?
Spritzy how are you brother? I got we got a wind on hey you called that one
We needed that one and you were in the building for it man. I the man i told you did yeah you know it's one fact that can be he's a uh... you know you didn't even
word
the minister
is that it's a
i think that he's a and he's a mystery that he married one of our bodies
that's funny yes i was there at the game too
you've spurt
don't waste time you're going to
uh... i think i went I went like a month ago.
Yeah, like a month ago.
Dude, I at one point in the, I think it was the eighth inning, the Phillies were batting,
the tie game, and I turned to my daughter and I told her, I've never been inside, the
Citizens Bank was so dead tonight
Towards the end of the game until we got the extras obviously But I've never been inside citizens Bank Park and it be as quiet as it was it was actually like kind of eerie
I don't I don't know if anybody else felt that way, but it was it was really it was really weird
I know we're not really getting the best out of our team right now
We're kind of slump like I told you dude baseball and you know this you're a baseball player, right?
it's a matter of streaks, but I
Did tell you earlier today that I did have faith in outcome and after tonight's game
I I kind of have to agree with you. I think it's time and it sucks because we got rid of Cody Clements, dude I think he would have been perfect as like a fill-in shoe for like an infielder even in the outfielder
Like I really I was really a fan of his but I'll tell him the producer
Is it time that Rojas we don't have to question anymore? He has to be an everyday player. Am I wrong here?
So, I mean as long as the bat is like not pitcher level, I'm mostly with you because
what he brings defensively
the arm is is obviously more of a noodle than anything but man he can just go get it and with how
limited Cassianus is and he looks even slower than in years past you kind of need them. I've actually been thinking about well, you know
Marsh having that hit tonight
With Kepler being pretty much a waste of time
Just just just roll Rojas and Marsh out there and see if you can spark something at least at least the defense would be
elite and left field and center field I
Dude, I totally agree with you.
I was like keeping, I love Rojas and I was watching the way he covers the field.
It is unbelievable how he just jumps off of the back.
Like soon as the ball comes off the back, dude, this dude is going from like zero to
six.
It's, I totally agree with you.
The thing with marshes, he's, he can hit righties,
man. But once he hit a lefty up there, that's where you got to kind of have to think about
what you're going to do with them. But I mean, like I told you, I think they're going to
be good. I really, once we get Bryce back, I don't think it's going to be as long as
everybody. I don't think it's going to be like as everybody else I don't think it's gonna be like last year I think he's gonna be back within two weeks he's
gonna be getting down do triple air wherever he needs to be crushing balls
and coming back up but I'm telling you spritz yeah fuck the Phillies nation I'm
telling you it was it was and I grew up in that away there that was like kind of
demoralizing how quiet it was and like I don't get it wrong
They're like I'm an obnoxious silly slam, but like I'm respectable about it, but you know, but it was sure you should've seen
You should've seen the pitiful wave that everybody tried out left field did I'm telling you Spritz. It was bad
Waves disappointed and everybody had systems back park. Yeah. Well, I appreciate the phone call Dustin. Yeah waves
Should never be allowed in ballparks period
He went talk about draining the energy out of a building
There's nothing like a quick way to do that and and dust Dustin mentioned
Marsh versus righties and this is the one thing that he has to get right on
I think we can he pretty much is what he is from the left side. I don't
have much faith he's going to all of a sudden turn into a guy that's going to hit lefties,
but he has to be able to hit righties. And to his credit, during his time with the Phillies,
he's been fine against right-handed pitching, but heading into the night, he was hitting
225 with a 635 OPS. Now he had the, he had two hits off of them tonight, which is a good sign but just the idea of
Listen Kepler's a really good defensive player
But he is providing nothing at the plate Marsh as someone who's been here for a little while he
He also plays an elite defensive, you know left field. He's great out there
Maybe a little bit of runway because I want Rojas to play center field at this point.
I mean, Marsh out there, I think leaves a good amount to be desired.
There's a couple balls over the weekend that fell in.
Looks like he's having trouble coming in on the baseball.
You know, side to side I think he's mostly okay.
But it's just so much different when you watch Rojas out there.
I mean, he glides to it.
He absolutely glides to it. So maybe just roll with Marsh and Rojas for a little bit.
Let Kepler sit and work on some things.
Weston Wilson, I'm not dying to get Weston Wilson some more at bats, but you know, it's
certainly a thought that crossed my mind today.
Speaking of Brandon Marsh, he is the player of the game
brought to you by South Jersey Gas Conserve,
helping customers and the community save energy and money.

Some bullpen thoughts tonight.
Obviously, Strom's still worrisome,
has not looked even close to the guy that he was last year.
Big home run there.
I feel like he's had a home run problem this year
more than last year. Now, but not able to keep the ball down. I feel like he's had a home run problem this year more than than last year now,
but not able to keep the ball down.
I think the fast ball looks mostly flat. So that was disappointing to see.
Romano color balls to the wall,
but still he's had a shaky couple of last outings.
Good to see him work out a tough situation there and do a job.
Kirkering Kirkering looks great.
And that sinker is starting to turn into a real pitch.
He's throwing it like 97 in on guys' hands.
So that was a really good sign that Sweepers is,
it doesn't feel like he's just spamming the Sweeper
over and over again.
It feels like he's starting to get more and more comfortable
in that fastball, and you're starting to see,
hopefully, the evolution of a possible late inning guy for the Fills
And I thought I know we love the the hits Pico Armstrong
Dave brought up earlier about walking him there
He got Dan's response it up next Pico Armstrong is is arguably a top three MVP guy right now
Get a base open you walk, sets up a double play.
Probably not a bad call by Dave there.
I'd be curious what, what Thompson's thinking.
It was feels like they just don't do that anymore.
Maybe because you don't want to put an extra runner on base.
So they were to hit one in the gap that you're just giving them a run.
Um, but still Pico Armstrong has been so good.
And again, everything makes swings.
I feel like it's going be hit 600 feet like every
Cubs player but yeah yeah I guess if I had to guess it's about putting on a base runner for no
reason but still if the Phillies were in that situation they would walk whoever and then just
bank on a a double play because this team was is addicted to grinding into double plays. All right, tomorrow we'll look ahead to tomorrow
and then definitely something to monitor
as a sign as to how a certain filly is progressing.
We'll get to that coming up next on The Final Out
on sports radio 94WYP.

It is the final out.
Jack Fritz hanging out with you here on this Monday night as we react to a much, much,
much needed Phillies win.
Dennis is in Phoenixville. What's happening Dennis?
What's going on? How are you Frisky? I was down at the game coming back from it right
now with the crew. Shout out, you know, the E names. We had our toddler Lauren with us,
Nicholas, Jimmy. Great squad. And you know, we had a good time. I was in the last, I was
in the last row of the stadium, uh, kind of behind the plate. I was in the last row of the stadium kind of behind the plate I was a
section over from where I was a game five of the World Series where Brandon
Marsh didn't get to hit you know to help us out so it's nice to see that come
around full circle tonight but you know this kind of feels a little bit more
like a you know the broken clock is right twice a day type of win and if I'm
not mistaken our last win was against the Braves at home was against the Braves
Last Thursday and I was at that game and that was 11 days ago. So that's almost playing into the that's almost 12 days
That's that's a day an hour. That's almost playing into the trope
entirely
Well, I mean they had though they had the one went up at Toronto sure
Yeah, but they have not won a game since game one of the of the Braves series
Did you agree with Dustin that the the energy in the ballpark was a little bit off?
Yeah, I did want to comment on that. You know, I I didn't feel that way as much
I thought the crowd was I didn't think it was anything remarkable, but I thought the crowd was good
You know like they were loud enough. I thought the crowd was good. Um, you know, like they were loud enough,
I thought, but an interesting comment, um, nevertheless, because it is something I try
to pay attention to, but yeah, I wouldn't say, I wouldn't say they were great, you know,
41,000, not a bad number, but you know, it's a Monday night. I think a lot of people are
a little negative. I was kind of almost ticked off. I had to come to the game today just watching them over the last week and a half or so. So maybe that was a little
bit to play in there with that. Yeah. Yeah. I appreciate the phone call and get home safely.
Yeah. I just, I can imagine it was a, a, uh, an odd ballpark tonight because again, they
just got swept by the fricking pirates and pirates and scored five runs in their last four games.
So I could understand why you're not going down
the ballpark like, here we go team.
And again, it was a desperate win.
It wasn't the prettiest one tonight.
It was one that he kind of exhaled exhale with the way that I felt like they were
pressing on the base pass,
maybe just getting a win lets them breathe a little bit.
But at the same time I keep looking up and down the lineup,
especially with Bryce not in there. And I just don't,
I just don't see it, you know?
And I know they had 16 hits tonight,
but again, one extra base hit.
You know, Turner's good, Schorber's fine,
Baum, no, Cassiano's fine, but again,
it's a lot of singles, not much slug.
JT, good to see him get the hit tonight, that was great.
We'd like to see him go the opposite way more.
He's just been rolling over a lot,
but still
JT's betting fifth with what he's done offensively this year. Sosa, no. Stott, no. At least right now.
Otto Kemp, I mean he had the one nice hit and then it was a bunt and an infield hit. So again,
I think he's a possible winning type player, but it's just early from that standpoint. Weston Wilson,
no. Brandon Marsh, mostly no, but we'll see. Good night tonight obviously and Rojas
mostly no. Kepler no. I mean no. So that's where I you know I watched that
Cubs line tonight and like hat goes yard but he hit another ball to the wall. Kyle
Tucker is unbelievable. Suzuki and and Crow Armstrong are one and two in the National League in RBI.
Dancy is nothing. Matt Bush looked like he was going to launch baseball. Carson Kelly's had a
great year. He's cooled off recently. Nico Horner is hitting 281. Matt Shaw, not great, but again,
they just look like they're ready to do damage even though they only had five hits tonight.
hits tonight. So you know it's just hard to feel super super confident about where they're at and you know when we talk about long season ups and downs I totally agree but when you look at
the bullpen you look at the lineup it's hard to be like super super confident there's still a
great team in there but would die to be wrong. There's no one
in America who would love to be more wrong than me. Now the one thing that is definitely
worth monitoring here is they mentioned before the game that Kemp's going to get more looks at first
base and they're going to move Bone back to third because he's their third baseman. He's actually
played a pretty good third base. That made me really concerned
about how long Harper might be out for. You know there's been there's a thought
that maybe Kemp's long-term position like if he would just say hey no Harper
you know go out there and play is first base. So that makes me now Rob Thomas
said that they met with the doctors in the middle of the game and he'll have an update tomorrow on Nola and Harper.
I guess we'll kind of wait around for what that's going to be.
But just the idea of Kemp getting some reps at first base, bone back to third base could mean that they might be without the first baseman, Bryce Harper, for a good amount of time,
which would obviously be a bummer, especially with the current state of the lineup.
But tomorrow, Mick Abel on the mound versus Colin Wray.
Wray shoved against the Phillies earlier this year, a crafty righty.
It's had a pretty good year for the Cubs, but obviously seeing a new Philly with this
team that I feel like we've almost, I think that there's this idea that they've gotten
stale and we know these guys.
Seeing what Abel's done, getting excited about what Otto Kemp's done, certainly nice little
breaths of fresh air, you could say.
So Mick Abel, Blue Jays last time out was really good.
Command fell apart in that last inning in the sixth, but again, he's pitching on four
days rest at 23 years old.
It's a pretty big ask and your second major league start so he'll be more well rested for this
But still that is a tough tough tough Cubs lineup to navigate but looking forward to it
