You know what's great about ambition?
You can't see it.
Some things look ambitious, but looks can be deceiving. For example, a runner could be training for a marathon
or they could be late for the bus.
You never know.
Ambition is on the inside.
So that goal to beat your personal best, keep chasing it.
Drive your ambition, Mitsubishi Motors.
One ball, two strikes, here's the pitch.
Swung on, popped up.
Right side of the infield.
Harper in on the turf, he's waiting.
He's got it, and the Phillies
with their biggest comeback of the season.
They rally from five runs down.
Kyle Schwaber puts on a show,
and the Phillies with a 10 to nine win
to start the road trip over the Jays.
Never a doubt.
Welcome on in, it is the final out,
sponsored by Regency Furniture.
Affordable, never looks so good.
Jack Fritz hanging out with you here on this Tuesday night,
and yes, it might be a quarter past 11,
but I'll tell you what, it might be a quarter past 11, but I'll tell you what it is
Beyond worth it when you have a comeback like that
I mean what a ballgame a lot to get into but overall they've had a couple of these like, okay
That's the win of the season
Add that to the mix. That was an unbelievable comeback when the fight was there and
You know this ballclub Whether you want to say fight was there and you know this ball club
whether you want to say they're back you know I know people are very worried
about using the B word listen this is a good ball club and tonight was a really
good comeback win against a team that you know I was playing pretty good
baseball of you know in the last couple weeks since the all-star break a lot of
no names but obviously some kids trying to make an impression and they just kept scratching and clawing and that's what we needed to see
From this baseball team the game wrap-up sponsored by blathers Swiss lube and crevice

Krebitz.online215.592.9494 to get in and react to again one of the games of the year.
It was a fun one.
It was one of those games where I don't know even when they went down 6-1 early I kind
of had a feeling that they at least
have a chance to come back in this one.
When we went 8-4, I was like, all right, maybe tonight's
not the night.
But they kept scratching.
They kept clawing, and they ultimately came out on top.
And Kyle Schwabber, what a legend.
The biggest takeaways of the game,
brought to you by Morgan & Morgan, America's largest
injury law firm.
And like I already mentioned a couple times tonight, I'm they talked about a postgame but the resiliency and you know
Two three weeks ago whenever they would bring up resiliency. I would just be beyond annoyed
I think come on like I can't hear about how
Resilient you are anymore. I can't hear Rob Thomas said I can't hear the players say it when we see them lay down we see them
Rob Thomas said I can't hear the players said when we see them lay down we see them
Not showing that and tonight and the last series against the Braves like listen That's a pretty much a tight series against the Braves. They fought they've been fighting and I think that you know
They they dug themselves a little bit of a hole
I mean not really like they didn't give to the division
But if they get down to five and they were playing poor baseball been going on for two months
this team is as dug deep here and
there was a lot of
you know, 2023 Eagles comparisons to this team and I think they've
Dispelled that notion in the last couple in last like week with not
Rolling over like last year's Eagles did with showing a backbone and tonight,
you can't say it's the culmination of that
on September 3rd, ultimately that's one
in the World Series but when they talk about this stuff,
it was nice to see it put into practice
and it's what tonight was about.
Tonight was about not giving up,
going down 6-1 early and not saying eh
you know that's it's not our night and obviously the main guy that that didn't
let them loose tonight was Kyle Schwab er you know a lot of guys had big nights
Kyle Schwab er went five for six tonight and even the ball that that you could
count as an as an error or a hit it it's a coin flip decision, hey, he put the ball
and played with two strikes.
He did a job there.
But the three home runs were massive,
and there was just never a doubt in that last at bat,
I felt like.
I felt like he was right on Chad Green.
He was balanced, he ripped the baseball off his foot,
and I was almost just waiting for him to go yard there. I mean he is
we talked a lot about Kyle Schwabber. I'm sure people say we overrate the importance of him on
this ball club. I don't think we do. I think that guy is the most important Philly. Bryce is the
best player. We'll get some Bryce thoughts going up here in a second, but like Kyle Schwabber is the most important Philly.
He's their leader.
He's their lead off hitter.
We still complaining about that.
He is a grown man and it feels like when they need him,
he's there to come through and really the top of the lineup.
Bryce said the hit tonight, again,
some Bryce stuff that was concerning,
but Turner and Schwaber,
they had to get going.
Schwaber was mired in a two for 26 slump,
breaks out of it tonight.
Trey Turner, three hits, but Kyle Schwaber, tone setter.
Tone setter, that's what he is, that's what he is,
but really, it was a whole team effort
when we talk about the resiliency, like,
really good at bats, almost shockingly good at bats.
And I say that with a smile and almost a joking tone,
but like shockingly good at bats.
This has not been a team that I feel like
puts together great at bats.
You know, like they're a pretty aggressive team.
They chase, they don't foul off a ton of pitches.
Well tonight, I don't know what club I was watching.
They were just battling with two strikes,
making the pitcher work,
waiting for the pitcher to make a mistake.
Oh, I mean, what a crazy concept by the Fells tonight,
but they at least did it.
You know, and they, again, when we talk about,
you know, fighting your way back into a ball club,
into a ball game, Little things like that.
Wearing down a pitcher.
Oh my goodness, what a novel concept.
But in all seriousness, that stuff matters.
That's winning baseball.
Was there still some signs of not exactly winning baseball?
Like Stodd not getting a butt down the eighth?
Woulda liked that.
Didn't come back to kill him, but it could have.
And little things, sure. But for the most part tonight, down the eighth would have liked that didn't come back to kill him but it could have and
you know like little things sure but for the most part tonight like those are the bats
and those are the bats that the really good teams have and at least for one night we'll
see if it translates over I mean that's really exciting but But really, the overall, just never giving up.
And the pitchers keeping him in there.
Even Taiwan, he loved the bombs of Vlad Guerrero.
But besides that, kept him in a ball game.
And Bullpen, for the most part, did their job.
2-1-5, 592, 94-94 to get him.
My second biggest takeaway of the game is,
and it's been going on for a little bit here
But I think it bears, you know talking about that
We're sort of seeing more and more aggressive Rob Thompson you know Rob Thompson for a majority of the season has been labeled as passive and kind of sits on his hands and let's his
Guys just do their thing and I hope they come out of it
But I thought he's aggressive tonight, you know, not just letting Tyler Phillips, you
know, hang out there to dry and going to banks early in the game.
And then he extended Taiwan, but at the same time, like at the situation where you're losing,
you need some innings because you worked your bullpen a lot against the Braves.
You can't just run everyone into the ground even in a game that you're losing so he extended him an inning
Tie one to his credit was pitching pretty well
I don't like fault Rob Thomas with that decision and then he was aggressive pinch hitting wise
So he could have let Johan Rojas hit but he went to Cody Clemens and Cody Clemens
Rewarded him. So, you know, there's some situations where Castellanos obviously taking out the game with an injury Weston Bolson had to go in
They're like it was a tight roster crunch tonight
You know there's situation late in the game where I think if Marsh started the game in centerfield and you had Rojas off the bench
You could have pinch hit Hayes for Marsh, but he couldn't do it because he didn't have a center fielder
But I think overall you're starting to see Rob Thompson get more aggressive here and trying to go for wins and getting a win tonight
It's huge because the Brewers lost and it gives you an extra game when you're looking for that
Looking for that buy and given some of the injury concerns right now
I think the the bike could be a big thing for this team. Let's go to the phones here and talk to Kenny from the dirty
30 it's a late call for you Kenny. What's happening brother? I
Was watching this game and this team is just driving me crazy
I thought the season was over I'd given up on them and they just turn around and make me want to love them again
I think that's I think that's everyone like
I would say that's a majority of people where it's like man. They stink they're they're over they're done and then bang
They just they fight and then come back and win a ball a ballgame
It's it's pretty wild Kenny
I mean, it's the it's the ebbs and flows the roller coaster of a baseball season just when you think I'm out
They pull me back in no one better. Yeah guys if I couldn't you want the death first inning?
I was so frustrated. I'm like, you know, we're in a penetration. We're throwing these kids out there
They have no business pitching and then the Phillies like we got you
We got you and they came back. It was great. It just kind of reminds me of that. You know 2018
I mean you just couldn't turn the TV off cuz you never knew what's gonna happen
Well, at least early in the season that they had that oh wait factor
They definitely lost it for about a month and a half there. But yeah, I think these I think these last
Really, you know, the Braves series was a blip
They've been playing pretty good baseball since the the Nationals and Marlins series
But now they're starting to do it against better teams, you know, like the winning on Kansas City
You know home versus the Astros three or four against the Braves and the Blue Jays while not great on paper
I think they're 22 and 18 since the all-star break, which is the tie for the best record in the AL
So like they're just they're starting to get back to where they were in the beginning of the season Kenny
And I think I heard Jody Mack say that that starting pitcher for the Blue Jays today is like undefeated against the Phillies with like a
One point something here. Hey, but not today. Yeah, Bassett was
Five and oh, we're four and oh in five starts in one point six the RACs. He's been good
They they they did their job today Kenny. I mean that was again
I don't think I've ever seen the Phillies be that locked in at the plate offensively
I mean, they could score 20 runs tonight if they can get a hit with the runners touring position
I tell you what I just it was nice. Yeah. Yes. It's a late call. It's worth staying up for and uh, yeah
I'm just in a good mood and just had to share it with everybody. Yeah
Talk to you soon and
It was it was a roller coaster kind of game, you know tile or
Freudian slip there Tyler Phillips went out and just doesn't have it. You know, it's a
He his last three starts really got exposed. I mean his his ERA was like 13.5. And then he went to AAA.
And in two starts there, he led five and four runs.
Came back up tonight.
Just not a major league pitcher.
You know, he had a good run.
It was a really fun story.
He's not a big leader.
He's more of a quad A guy.
And we'll see what they do next time around. you know, just this Taiwan pitches way right back in there
Colby Allard can't come up until until September 10th
So again, there's some some things to talk about or there's some things for them to talk about
but ultimately, I think we we've
Run out of steam on the on the Tyler Phillips kind of bandwagon 215 592
9494 to get in on the other side the injury report with two big things to watch and
Guy might have earned a playoff spot tonight. We'll get to that cone up next here on the final out on sports radio 94 WIP

Swung on blasted deep right field it's so long gone and the Phillies lead it on a three run homer by Kyle Schwab or his third home run of the night
What a night for Schwab er and the Phillies who now lead it ten to eight
Here in the ninth inning. I mean, did we just get a preview of playoff fransky in September?
That felt a little playoff fransky ish. That's a big spot big home run and there's nothing better
There's nothing better than when LA does the like, oh, I mean
It just it puts smile on your face instantly and listen it felt like a nice little preview
I don't know the the blue Jays, I don't think we'll sniff,
sniff October this year, but it felt like a playoff home run.
Also felt like a playoff game,
because LA was on the road.
I know, I mean, what a grinder, you know?
I mean, who's put on a more of a grinder appearance
than I buzzed?
Me, with the, now, we make a joke about pregame.
It was not, I didn't have to do an extra two minutes,
but it felt like it. And then, or LA on the road, or me having joke about pregame. It was not in have to do an extra two minutes But it felt like it and then or or LA on the road or me having to do postgame having your postgame from your house
Yeah, yeah, who's more of a grinder LA? Well LA cuz he actually not only did he go on the road
He left the country to do it. He did Wow. I mean what a true what a true hero
But listen when they when they come back and that because I buzzed on a 6-1
I was like this is to be a late post
game show and it's going to be a disappointing one.
But they scratch, they clawed and they want a ballgame and schwarber.
I mean, that is obviously the play of the game sponsored by Mike's Amazing,
the official Mayo and Mustard of the Phillies.
Like.
There's just nothing there's nothing like a a schwarbomb.
You know, it's like it's like Howard
it reminds me of that like going Bryce hits one there they're awesome, but like when he like
Launches a baseball. It's just it's it's like heaven. It really is
It's an unbelievable the Phillies record tonight for leadoff home runs in a season
Nice and I haven't looked it up but I wonder how far behind
J-Roll is he? I think he for this all like total in his career. I think he's at 30 for his career.
I don't know what he's at his first career. I know he broke the record. 11 was the Phillies record.
He's at 12 and I believe 13 is the record for like a season in baseball history so he's like two away.
We're taking down Ricky Henderson. It has to be Ricky Henderson that does that but yeah
it's just either him or Alfonso Soriano maybe I want to say this. It might be Soriano.
I think that's who they said it was I'll go back and look. He but but like when he
leads off the game with the home run it's it's it's the best I mean sure bombs
are just they're just different and as the games get bigger, you know,
it feels like they just leave the bat faster.
I mean, it feels like we wasted too much time
with the leadoff debate.
I mean, he is, it's unconventional, I get it.
But like having him there, having that presence there,
is just a different element that a lot of teams don't have.
I mean, but man, three home runs, a big one in the ninth, and just a good ball player.
Just a good ball player.
Get some other thoughts here on tonight, but let's go back to the phones.
Scott's in Delaware.
What's happening, Scuder?
How's it going?
Big win tonight, Scott. in Delaware. What's happened to go to How's it going big win tonight Scott big win? I?
Tell you what the last couple of games like
Come back from a you know down
Early, you know like the offense is picking up
For pitching like they were doing earlier in the you know season you know well it's
interesting because I think the pitching's actually been really good
outside of the fifth starter spot but I think they've done a better job of just
putting together more competitive at bats like we haven't seen them giving
away many recently they've had their spells you know before the marsh home
run they had gone like five scoreless.
So but I would say tonight and the last couple of games. Yeah, I agree with you. I think
that they're they just look more locked in. And actually they're more I don't know if
it's the pitching coach or the change like I like we're talking about. You know, harbor
it more doubles. It's like play the, just take the pitch and drive it somewhere.
You know, use the whole field, Scott, use the whole field.
Yeah. Yeah. And not like necessarily besides the Schwab on tonight. I mean, like that's
crazy. Great. But, um, like they're get up there, get a hit, you know, like they left,
uh, how many guys did they leave before the Schwab bomb? You know, I think that guys on a second and third well, I think I would have scored two more runs, you know
Did 18 hits tonight Scott did 18 hits. It's crazy, right? I mean like they they're like
You know, and I think
Castellanos
I'm just probably saying it wrong but like you are him putting in the work
Like everybody else is putting in the work. They're going like this guy's working. He's getting hits
I'm gonna work on it. I'm gonna you know, I want to focus and and and you know
Try to drive something the other way or or whatever, you know, yes scott and I appreciate the phone call. I mean
it's the old
adage of like living and dying by the long ball and
like I
Think it's a tough balance because on one end I think you have to hit home runs like
You have to be able to hit home runs it is harder in today's baseball to string together a bunch of hits because
Obviously guys are better,
you know, they have better stuff today.
It's all power stuff.
Everyone's got a hundred,
everyone's got this sweeper and all that.
So like hitting home runs is definitely important,
but like being able to use the whole field,
being a tough out, not striking out,
not giving away at bats, like that stuff matters too.
And the way this lineup is constructed,
like they should have more of those guys.
I mean, I've talked about it, it feels like a nauseam here,
but Turner should, and he is at the current moment,
competing for the National League Batting title,
but the averages are a little bit lower this year,
but you get the point.
But Turner, gap to gap.
Boom, gap to gap.
Cassianos, gap to gap.
JT, gap to gap.
Stott, gap to gap. Marsh, gap to gap JT gap to gap stock gap to gap
Marsh gap to gap, you know that the only real power hitters right now are Harper and Schwerburn Obviously, you know Harper's is dealing with something here
I mean might as well get to it
The injury report is sponsored by the plumbers Union local 690 protecting the health of the nation visit plumber 690 org
so I mean Harper
Even on this so I first mean Harper, even on the,
so I first noticed that I thought on the hit that he got,
he hit up the middle, smoked it,
but he just, he looked like he winced a little bit.
And then his last at bat, he swung and he missed,
and he just kind of looked like he was leaning
on that shoulder a little bit,
and then he went back and just had nothing behind it.
So, I actually wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't play tomorrow.
Like you gotta start getting the guy days.
You already won one up in Toronto.
Chris Sanchez in the mound tomorrow.
You know, just you gotta start getting Bryson days here.
You extended a lead over the Brewers tonight, which is good.
Get yourself a little bit of breathing room.
Like he, I know he played the ninth,
he told Thompson he was fine,
but he didn't look fine to me.
And, you know, given the adrenaline
that gets going in games,
I'm sure in the moment he felt okay.
But him wincing there was not great.
They got four Miami, yeah, they have four Miami this weekend. So I just
They got to be smart about this price thing because he needs to be as healthy as possible heading into
October because if not, it just makes their job that much harder Alec Bohm did not play tonight again
I guess is he's progressing slower than they thought they still don't think there's an IL situation here
But he is progressing slower than they thought and then Nick Castellanos left the game as well now
They said it. I mean there the people said it seemed precautionary
I don't know. It's kind of a close game at that point, you know
Did did you have to get Castellanos out of the game?
So that's definitely something to to look at as well
I just got hit by a pitch and then was going first or third and then was out of the game.
So, you know, maybe it was just a little bit tender.
Maybe they're being precautious,
but given the current state with some of the injuries,
I certainly don't need another one.
Now, one guy, and you know, I teased this before the break,
for me is earning a playoff spot is Cody Clements.
I mean, that's a hard spot for a guy.
What he did tonight comes off the bench,
works in 11 pitch at bat, just, you know,
I haven't seen it again, a Philly do that.
I haven't seen a Philly do that since Dobbs.
It might be since Dobbs.
I threw a Dobbs comp on Twitter tonight.
Like that's Dobbs.
That's a lefty off the bench,
works a good at, works a good count,
works a good at bat, and does a job.
By the way, the best,
the best stat going about the 2024 Phillies
is the pinch hit stat.
So they have one hit in Britain,
or one pinch hit RBI in Britain. Britain or one pinch hit RBI in Britain
They have one pinch hit RBI in America and now they have one pinch hit RBI in Canada buzz
That's gonna be a major league record. There's no shot any teams ever done three in three different countries
How would it have ever happened? Listen, I'm proposing an idea
I don't know if they can do it, but get the Phils and Marlins
down to Brazil and just have them team up with the Eagles
on Friday night.
They can play first and then bring the Braves.
You don't even have to send them that far.
Play the game in the Bahamas.
You could go four for four.
It's not that far.
Just see if we can keep this bit going, because it's an all
timer.
I mean, it is a little bit different. They had two games in Canada get one in and they got it in
And two in London never a doubt, but he worked 11 pitch it back there
He it a little squib or whatever like he thought off a million fastballs like that was again
That's not easy to do and then obviously in the ninth inning so it gets the hit
Clements up works at eight pitch it, rips the ball past Fladdy.
Like, he's a professional hitter.
Like, I think if he plays every day, he gets exposed.
But at least as a pinch hitter,
Weston Wilson against lefties, I trust him.
Against righties, not really.
Like a nice little Hayes Clemens or not Hayes a
Wilson Clemens thing I mean Hayes is in there too, but you get the point like there's there's something there Could there be could there be a bench maybe bottom maybe growing here in Philly?
But man Cody Clemens, I was really really impressed with him tonight
Two one five five nine two ninety four ninety four to get in on the other side we'll get to a look ahead to tomorrow something that happened
tonight that that makes me feel better about tomorrow and plus the player of
the game all that's coming up next on the final allowance sports radio 94 WIP
Bassett ready and deals the pit swung on hit deep right field on a line Springer turns and that one is gone and
Kyle Schwaber
Locked in again. He's three for three with a pair of homers and a double and
It's now a two run ballgame at six to four

Richie's in Philly what's happening Richie mr. Fritz one of the three
baseball people I talk with only one of the three baseball people well I
appreciate that as that is always the other ones coming up in about
five minutes and jody mac
who's that
jr jody and you know i'm in my seventies and followed the phillies in nineteen
fifty six and that but there's a point of that
is a ten-year-old point of that
these people that call
while i was down and i was really did
this is not football
you know that jack i know that baseball runs even the good teams it runs in cycles okay it's not football
you know like a game where you get really down I would never was down to
Philly's Jack all year even when they had that that cold port I feared they
were just hitting a cold street that's all like everything is like a street
invasion would you agree with me well you are obviously you have had more
years of this than I have I
Was I was freaking out a little bit and there were some low points, but I never thought they were like
Yeah, I always have your number. I appreciate that but I never like always in the back of my mind
I was like I just I trusted them too much to think like they're not gonna pull out of this and thankfully they
had they have
Exactly, and yeah, and your baseballouts through again, the great minds think alike
Jack right, I really like Cody Clements.
I like the way he's hitting his approach to the plate.
He doesn't seem to be over matched.
He doesn't go to a lot of bad pitches.
These are the little things that I like you know mm-hmm yeah well I think like just the fact that he could just keep found those pitches off like it
looked like he just knew he what I like the most is that he knew 95 was coming
or whatever and he was so late on it but he just did enough to to extend the at
bat and keep waiting for the mistake and like that's that's what you want out of a
pinch hitter like he want a pinch hitter down there and the first pitch
There's enough pictures that were short was up there Jack
Tidus eventually he was found from pitches. Yeah, they're gonna make a mistake
I mean, it's not easy I pitched in high school. It's not easy to make every pitch perfect
And yeah, you're gonna you're gonna hang that slider, you know, you're gonna leave it up over the plate
Well, it's frustrating when they don't do that kind of stuff though, too
Richie like like that kind of stuff is
Paramount to winning baseball and it feels like something when they struggle this go away from that they go away from approach They they look like they lie down a lot of first pitch swinging like that kind of stuff matters
It can help swing a ballgame and it definitely did exactly
Exactly. Well, Jack before you hang up, it's always a pleasure to listen to you
I tune in for you and then then Jody Mack and then you know
With the other guy Ricky Ricardo and you know, you're baseball. I don't even follow baseball my ass
I'm only 30. So I consciously since oh
Three maybe like but I mean really like the heyday for me was oh seven on we must be anybody with a last name
With Fritz must be right.
That's right.
That's what the people say Richie.
Appreciate the phone call as always.
Tomorrow Chris Sanchez in the mound versus Bowden Francis
who they moved into the rotation within the last month,
month and a half.
0.62 ERAs and the move into the rotation full time.
He just come off was the AL pitcher of the month in August.
But Chris Ange has been good.
And the thing that's actually most positive heading into tomorrow is that I think the
Blue Jays about to use their whole entire bullpen.
I don't know who they're going to have ready to go tomorrow.
That's part of the importance of working deep counts. Swanson
no way he can come back. Chad Green no way he can come back. Genesis Cabrera I don't
think so. That is a depleted Blue Jays bullpen. So, Phil's are in a good spot heading into
tomorrow. But again, we'll see where Castellanos is. We'll see where Harper is. We'll see
where Bohm is. I would not hate getting Bryce off his feet for a game
Again that that bad the ninth was was scary
The eighth
No, it was not. It was just like, you know, he looked like he had nothing behind his swings
So they gotta start managing this as best as they can but either way I will have you
For both leading off and final outs I will have you for both leading off
and final out.
So I'm doing a solo leading off from my house,
from this couch.
And then I'll be back after the game as well.
Hopefully it's a nice little two game trip
up to Roger Center.
They escaped there with two wins.
We're heading down to Miami.
It would be good, good stuff.
But either way, a good start tonight,
a resilient start tonight and and and you
know one I think we could be talking
about for a little while here.
If this season goes the way we
hope it does, as always,
the final out sponsored by Regency
Furniture afford will never looked so good.
Thanks for hanging out with me.
Buzz Wilson produced the program tonight.
Jody Mack.
He will take you through the rest of the
night here on sports radio 94 WI pay.
