And Tolia down on strikes for the fourth time and the Phillies have won for the fourth time
in their first five games of the season as tonight a five to one win
Over the Rockies as the Phillies win their second straight series
Welcome on and it is the final out sports radio 94 WIP
Jackfritts hanging out with you here on this Wednesday night as we react to
The Phil's taking down the mighty Rockies and Nationals and back-to-back
series to start the year and I tell you what we'll get into it but a professional win by
the ball club tonight. The post game wrap up is sponsored by Roto-Rooter. When plumbing
problems hit wrap them up quick and call Rotoo router their team tackles clogs and leaks
So you can stay in the game roto router your MVP for plumbing
solutions two one five five nine two
Ninety four ninety four to get in if you're stuck in traffic would love to hear from you
I know is a cold night down the ballpark. It was it was
They got out of there late. Don't blame you
It was pretty well in hand after after some some big plays late, but overall
Like I said a professional win by the boys tonight
the biggest takeaways of the game brought to you by Morgan and Morgan America's largest injury law firm and I
you by Morgan and Morgan America's largest injury law firm and I feel like every single
Postgame show is a check-in on how the offense is doing. Is it sustainable? Do we like what we see?
Will this end up being good enough in October and it feels like everyone has their little things that they want to see in little
Things that they like well what I like tonight from the offense was
they like well what I like tonight from the offense was
Didn't have a long ball tonight. I thought Harper had won I think a lot of us thought Harper had won but you know
I guess it got hung up or as Cole hit off the end of the bat yada yada yada
But I thought from the standpoint of winning baseball
I thought they played winning baseball tonight and you just heard Rob Thompson. He talked about Johan Rojas. I was his best game as a pro
Interesting stuff and I think Johan Rojas looks pretty comfortable to play do not want to get ahead of myself at all because I have
Doubted Johan Rojas as as a real piece here
But if he can be what he was tonight, play great defense center field,
get some bunts down, get some base hits, uh, you know, be productive up there. You take
it. So they did it without the long ball. They had good base running. Kyle Schorber
heads up play. They got some months down. They got some clutch base hits, obviously
at Mundo Sosa who continues to just be a
Revelation for this baseball team really has been great since they acquired him and in the deadline of 2022
but again clutch hits now
That's not withstanding when they had bases loaded no outs and struck out in three straight at bats
You didn't like that at all, but they they picked themselves up late
It's not always gonna go perfect
We know it's a game of failure can't get too high can't get too low
But overall when you're looking for it, can they win in other ways besides the long ball?
I thought tonight was a a step in the right direction Kyle Freeland not great
But he's someone that is hung around
the big leagues for a long time. He had a good first start to the season. And I mean,
obviously they scored two runs off of him, which was nice to big step forward from what
they've done against starting pitchers for the first portion of the season. But I thought
on the whole, they did a lot of winning things tonight and and that's important and listen you're stacking
W's against bad teams and it's hard to do again a referendum on
It's just gonna work in October when we're this early into the season
so you might as well stack as many wins against bad teams as you can and you know, you're heading into a
tough little stretch here against the Braves and Dodgers, Dodgers, Braves.
And I mean, the Braves, who knows?
I mean, they're 0-6 and they currently
have the lead on the Dodgers.
But who knows?
The Dodgers will probably find a way to come back and win this one.
But you've got to keep stacking wins against bad teams.
215592, 94.94 to get in. The pitch count is brought to you by the plumbers union local 690
protecting the health of the nation visit plumbers 690 orgs that is a
105 pitches for one Zack Wheeler who was just brilliant yet again
He I mean, I don't really know what to say about Zach Wheeler anymore
I think the best compliment you can give him is that when he doesn't give you seven strong innings of two runs or less
You're you're surprised. I mean that's that's how you feel on Zach Wheeler dates, especially against bad teams
Hunter Goodman
Might just be a good young player
you know he had the home run off of Wheeler tonight and
Might just be a good young player. You know, he had the home run off of Wheeler tonight and he had the home run He hit off of Al Rado late. He had the home run the other night against Sanchez
Wheeler I guess he has a problem getting catchers out and back to back games a catcher said a home run off him
It wasn't even bad pitch. It wasn't a bad pitch to keep her Louise in the in the opener
He just got his hands and was able to hit it out. Same thing the night with Goodman. So besides that, I mean, even with that, you know, he was, he was great.
He was efficient. He, he threw over a hundred pitches, which is fine. You know, he's, he's
a horse. He's Zach Wheeler, but it's hard to, you don't want to take it for granted. He's
just a dominant pitcher. He's just an absolute stud and every single time he goes out there I expect the Phillies to win. And
then the last big takeaway here and I would love to hear from you is what to do with the
moon is also and Rob Thompson good line after the game about hey I'm going to petition MLB
to let us have 10 guys you know start tomorrow and I don't know what they do
You know like there's
I'm not gonna be unrealistic. I'm not gonna say oh, we should start a shortstop and Trey can go to centerfield
That's it's not gonna happen. So I don't we don't need to waste our breath
But I think Balmond Scott need to be on watch, you know
I they last year at the end of the year. They were starting to platoon
Stott and Sosa and I do think that you got to try them in left field Rob Thompson said yesterday about a righty on the
mound not to put him in the outfield. I
Don't know. I mean it's a I mean Taiwan
My guy gets hard to say I want to ground ball pitcher because this the splitter but You know, they're righty whoever's in the mound. I don't know. I don't think it's that big of a deal but
Maybe some outfield mixed in here. He's he's too hot to keep out of line up right now. Now. You can't also
Take your regular starters out of the lineup, but
So's is doing a damn good job
I still contend that I think he's a,
I think he's a super, like almost a superstar
utility player, I think he's the best utility player
they've ever had.
He's just a guy that, that he's a,
a guy that winning teams have.
He's a championship level player from a utility standpoint.
Still don't think he's an everyday player,
but I love the guy.
I mean, I I love the guy and they
Absolutely love the guy and when he's hot he's hot and me turning around 99 tonight to kind of break the ballgame
Open was beautiful. He's not chasing as much. He's not expanding the strike zone. He's letting pitchers come to him I mean what a player I mean
What a player Edmundo Sa is and at least in the meantime
If you can't find a way because you you know if you can't get him in the lineup with a righty on the mound
I mean at least when there's a lefty on the mound start him at second base
Whatever it not whatever it takes to get him in the lineup
But he's playing well enough and making enough headway where he's got to be in the lineup
What a player and and you know, this is so cool about it
Is I love hearing his teammates talk about him. I love hearing Schwab. I mean it's the first thing to talk about
It's him turn talking about before the game
he's just one of the guys and and I think he's earned that entire Clubhouse's respect and
He's one of those guys that we talked about
There are you know, I talk about like
You know, I talk about like wanting to see when a title like in Mundo winning a title and being a part of this thing is is would be awesome.
He's just I think everyone loves it.
Mundo Sosa.
Everyone loves it.
Mundo Sosa.
He's a heck of a player.
Two one five five nine two ninety four ninety four to get in Fran was at the game tonight.
What's happening friend?
Hey, what's up, man?
How are you?
What was your biggest takeaway from tonight? My biggest takeaway is Ed Mundo is a team MVP
we got to get him more at bat. I was listening to what you were saying super utility super MVP
type of guy I just feel like as you said Scott needs to be on on alert, Bo need to be on alert,
we have to get Ed Mundo more at bat. Well, and I think something's been really interesting,
Fran, at the beginning of the year here,
is I think Rob Thompson, he's not just letting guys,
he's giving some leash, but not as long of a leash.
I mean, the Marsh situation on Monday,
where he pinch hit Turner, now I know it's Trey Turner,
so it's a little bit different,
but that was an aggressive move, rather than just seeing how Marsh does against the lefty
he went for the kill and you know
kind of getting away from the
The we were gonna play start and Marsh against lefties thing, you know this early in the season
Feels to me like Rob Thompson is is sensing the urgency that his ballclub has right now
And and he's trying to take advantage of it.
Yeah, I totally agree.
I feel like the 2022, 2023, even 2024 Thompson,
he gave the guys the leash,
so he was giving the Rojas the at bats.
He was giving Marshal the extended at bats
that sometimes people like us were calling
for him to come out, but he was giving them the leash.
And now, as you said, he's given the hot hot hand and I feel like we need to get Sosa in
there as much as we can I feel like Sosa can be a 20-25 homer 90 RBI guy who's
given a full year I really do yeah I appreciate the phone call I that's
that's obviously on the high end I think think he is that. He's more than just a super utility player.
But again, maybe he is.
Maybe he is.
I mean, there was an article, I think, by MacElbe
that the Phillies have gotten more calls on Sosa
than almost all their players.
Because some of the teams around the league,
I guess, view him as a starter.
And the Phillies have kind of held on to him.
But on the point of
Rob Thompson and
just kind of having the sense of their, I don't, not to say they weren't taking it seriously
before this year because I think they were, but I still get this sense that there's this heightened sense of urgency
down there.
And some of the managerial moves, even the lineup decisions speak to that.
I mean, putting Jose Alvarado in that game tonight in a 5-1 ballgame, not even messing around.
Just nipping at the bud and not letting the Rockies kind of breathe it all and going for a kill shot was good. So it's kind of been the vibe that I got when I was down there in spring training and in
the beginning of the season.
And it's just there's this more workman-like approach to the Phils and how they won tonight
I think was another good example of that.
Jim is in the Northeast.
What's happening, Jim?
Hey, pal.
How are you, man?
Thanks for taking my call. Of course that would you uh... would see
the game that
uh... i i i i agree you mentioned of
topers commented that the press conference
uh... you know how to do problem with those i think i don't know what you
think i think are are you think that probably one of the best
avenges you know in the think. I think arguably we have probably one of the best Avengers, you know in the national league, you know, we have
Wilson hitting for the cycle last year. He's gonna he'll come up. He's gonna he's a fan favorite. He loves those tonight
Um, you have to do something with clemence. You have to send him back down the fans like him
I just think we have one of the best adventures in the national league
Well, and especially if rojas can do what he did tonight, you know
I we'll see how his back comes along, you know pure hitting wise
but if he can play that kind of defense and also get bunts down and and be a winning player and
Hey, maybe even late in the game
He come in and steal a bag for you if he can do that kind of stuff. You're right and Cody
I believe he's out. He's I believe he's out of, I think he's out of minority options,
so they'd have to do something like,
they'd have to place him on waivers,
but with Whistler coming back,
because they don't really need another lefty,
but it's developing into a nice bench.
I think in a perfect world, you know,
you'd like a more veteran, right-handed bat off the bench,
but hey, maybe Wes and Wilson can develop into, you know,
continue to develop into that kind of option for them
Yeah, yeah, and there's one last thing I would like to like to share it's one of what your thoughts were
I mean, I hate to pull out negative so early in the season
But just just in these intersections and I'm in those three strikeouts with the bases loaded
Yeah picture didn't throw one strike guys. I mean it was stuff way out of the strike zone
It's just it's it's just you know like nails on a chalkboard to see
Yeah, and I appreciate the phone call Jim
It was it was really frustrating because those are obviously your big
RBI guys and just it wasn't the most locked in looking kind of at bats and it was a lot of chase.
I will say, they struck out four times and three of them were those three in a row.
And listen, sometimes you need other guys to pick you up and luckily Emuno was that
guy but for sure.
But it, you know, it happens.
And hopefully that the next time they can at least drive in one.
215-592-94-94, Jack Fritz hanging out with you here on the final hour.
We'll get to your phone calls on the other side.
If you're leaving the game, we'd love to hear from you.
We'll also get to the player of the game.
A good night for one Philly and a beautiful sight that took place down at the ballpark
that I mean, I'd almost got a little,
almost welled up here on my couch.
What is it?
We'll get to that coming up next
on the Final Out on Sports Radio 94WYP.
I'm Joanne Robinson, host of the new podcast,
The Women's Hoop Show.
We're here for you every step of the way
through the mayhem of March madness.
Each episode, I'll be joined by a rotating group of women's basketball
experts to talk you through how your bracket's looking and which rising women's hoop stars to
look out for in every game. Listen to and follow the women's hoop show and Odyssey podcast available
now wherever you get your podcasts. And the right-hander's 2-0. Swung on, lined up the middle of
base hit in the left center. Castellano scores.
Real Muto is coming home to score.
Kepler on his way to third.
Sosa slides at second with a two-run double.
And the Phillies now with a 5-1 lead for Sosa.
It's his third hit of the night.
Welcome back.
It is the final out.
Sports Radio 94, WYP.
And Muno Sosa has four straight multi-hit games and he is the highest batting average in Major
League Baseball amongst qualified hitters.
So I mean a heck of a start to the season for Edmundo Sosa.
He is my player of the game brought to a mundo so as he is my player the game
Brought to you by south jersey gas conserve helping customers and the community save energy and money
visit south jersey dot com slash conserve and
Again rob dobson after the game funny line, you know about would like ten guys, you know petition majorly based But i'll let him start ten
probably not going happen, but
the sentiment is you got to find a way to to keep hot baths in the lineup and
Play the guys that deserve to play now. You can't just bench your quote-unquote starters
you know the you can't just take them out like stodd and bohm and
And like I mean capler's had a really good start to the season too
I would like him to to maybe get some reps in the outfield but
Also again, you just have to keep riding the hot hand because I think he
is probably more of a streaky player than not and
I'm sure that a cold streak will come for a Mundo and maybe that's when he can go back to
Riding some of your horses that you've gone with the last couple years
But he's a good player. He's a good player brings a lot of energy
There's a reason why they started him in game two of the Met Series last year
He he brings a lot of positivity grinder works hard and is a super super super utility player two and five five nine two
Ninety four ninety four to get in on the final out some other thought other thoughts in the game here in one second, but Dave's in Atlantic City
What's happening Dave?
Dave hey
Hey there. Yeah, what's happening man? Hey, man? Oh great game tonight
And I just wanted to tell you like you know I heard Thompson talking about Sosa and and especially Rojas great at that
But you know that there was a point in game with so to get the hit in the you
know rohawth wanted
and the execution was amazing
and i think that you know i think that i think that that that that they can't
execute this way
they're going to win the world series this year this is what this team been
missing
and then you know our stuff come up and and we already talked about it
the three of them strike out it really not you could do about it i mean i guess but when you have a fact like that you know our studs come up and you already talked about it the three of them strike out There's really nothing you could do about it
I mean I guess but when you have a fast like that, you know, great at fast like that
You got to reward these guys. You got to keep them in the lineup. Don't you think?
Yeah, well listen you got it. You got to certainly take advantage of that spot but at the same time, you know
They they did pick themselves up later
You know, it's not like they it was nice to see them add on late
and make it at least a five one ball game.
Totally frustrating in the moment.
I'm sure those guys feel it too.
But yeah, you need your big guys to come through there.
I don't want to jump ahead to October.
Obviously you can't have that happen in October,
but I would say it was more positives than negatives.
I feel like the biggest negative was again,
that and maybe not getting to Freeland one early but they did get a lot of
base heads that overall I thought I thought it was a pretty professional win
by them tonight I wanted to ask you this because in the first game you got you
had Wheeler on the mound they're all three one and he brings in this new guy
I mean it's his first time with you Romero and he walks two guys he's slow
to the plate they steal the bases and
they wind up tying up the game.
They wind up winning the game.
But you know, I was so confused why he would want to try him in that situation and not
just go right to Kirkering, you know, Ruiz, Alvarado and just get your man who's ready
for the Cy Young Award, get Wheeler the win.
Wheeler should be 2-1- out and he had him warming up tonight
He had a warm-up tonight with guys on base
I would never put Romero in with guys on base not in a tight game like that. He's too slow to the plate
Well the problem with that and appreciate the phone calls that Kirk are you pitched in the first game?
so
You know as a righty pocket line up. I mean, listen, Romano is
someone they gave money to be one of their high leverage arms. You're not going to just
go away from them in the first game of the season. He had a pretty good spring. So maybe
just take a deep breath. And I think they're still a good pitcher and enjoy remand him. Slow to the plate
100% but I think there's I think he's gonna end up being fine. Now good night for Trey Turner
three hits tonight could have he had a hit a ball pretty well in the first inning as well looked
looked comfortable out there sometimes I thought he had spots to steal but then and I was thinking well I'd me is a
He's his first game back from the injury. You don't need to push it
Well one to definitely look at is what they're gonna do with like I thought with him in the leadoff spot
you'll kind of get him running a little bit more haven't totally seen that yet and
Listen I know that when Bryce is up
I don't they want him stealing because I want Bryce to, if he can possibly pop one, to for it to be a multi-home run game or multi-run home run.
But once Boam's up there in that lineup, I would like to see Trey definitely moving.
But from the standpoint of Trey at the plate, three hits, you take it. You take it and he had a clutch RBI RBI which was which is good to see as well
So Trey three hits tonight and mundo good night. We like to see that going forward against lefties and
You know as long as it moon is on his hot streak keep going with them
But against lefties would like to see more and more of that now
The the one thing that happened in the ballpark tonight
Yeah, I felt like I might start welling up was we almost had the return of the of
the white rally towels.
Now we've gone away from from playoff baseball for about 11 years.
I didn't know they updated the rule before the 2022 run that you can have white rally
towels anymore because I mean it makes sense blends blends in with the baseball, surprises even a thing in the first
place.
While I appreciate the red rally towel, it just doesn't hit the same as the white rally
towel.
There was something about it that when you saw it, I remember it broken out for the first
time in like 07, I think it was a Nationals game, maybe it was a Marlins game.
I think it was a Nationals game and I remember Howard went deep in the first inning and I
saw the white rally tiles back and I instantly transformed back to my freshman year or my
eighth grade Jack, which was interesting.
So it was in sight for sore eyes seeing the white rally tiles back at CBP and good on the fans. You know, you don't have to wear the shirts
tournament rally does
James is in Potsdam. What's happening James?
Yeah, Jack glad I got through tonight. I came my phone doesn't even ring during the afternoon. You're so busy. I
Know I know. Sorry, man. It's uh, we got a lot of stuff going on. What do you got?
And I know your fault. I just love in the beginning of this season
I mean, there's a hundred things to complain about but I'm so pleasantly surprised. I'm not gonna complain about anything. That's good
I mean we're taking wins against bad teams and and before some some pretty big show me series coming up
Yeah, I'm excited to see how they play the Dodgers. Um
Ideally, like you said, I would love to see Sosa try left field. I mean, I know
it's unconventional, but if anybody could do it, I think he could probably give it a
shot.
Oh, listen, if you're athletic enough to play the middle of the field as well as he does,
I'm fairly confident he could figure out left field.
That's what I'm thinking. It's not like we got an excellent guy out there or anything
that's going to run everything down anyway
Yeah, I mean like I think Kepler Kepler someone who I think they need to play a little bit
And he's done a really good job. It's just it's it's tough. They're they're in tough tough position
I mean a Mundo's and Mundo's forcing their hand. There's there's no doubt about it
Yeah, he's him and Rojas are my favorite players. So tonight's games like tonight man
Johan Robes is your favorite player
Yeah, man. I'm not kidding you. I've been on the you Pro has trains at the beginning of last year
All right. I don't know why I don't know why but I respect I respect his defense and I love how hard it works, man
for sure and and I appreciate the phone call James if he can do what he did tonight and
And get some months now now obviously
Guys have to be on in front of him for it to happen. But leave it even the one button that he that he beat out
I mean, that's
That's valuable. You know, it was a
You know Rojas sometimes his average doesn't feel like it's it makes sense because obviously look at the other stats and it's not very good
tonight was a a
Valuable baseball player he was and Rob Thompson is right when he says that that was the best game
He's played in Major League Baseball. You got to see more of that stuff and
At least from that standpoint. It was a big step forward. They're still gonna play like Marshall be in the lineup tomorrow
Probably stop it being a lot of tomorrow, but they're creating some good problems here. And it feels like the mentality this year
is the guys who are playing well and deserve to play are going to play. I think the last
couple of years it was giving guys longer leashes and saying saying nah just try it out and and you'll figure it out or
You know sink or swim. I don't think they're doing that this year
I think they're being much much much more aggressive two one five five nine two
94 94 to get in on the other side. We will get a look ahead to tomorrow and a
Positive trend from early in the season. What is it?
We'll get to that coming up next on the Final Out on sports radio 94 WIP. And the pitch swing and a little tap out in
front of the plate Goodman out to get it spins fires to first to get the out
there Schwaber trying to score and save the call at the plate as Schwaber slides
in under the tag of Kyle Freeland who did an amazing job to catch and even get
a tag down and he looks like he's a little bit shaken up at home played.
It's two-nothing Phillies.
Just heads up baseball by Kyle Schwaber. Another sign of some winning baseball
being played by the Phills tonight and for a majority of this season, but you
Listen, he's a little spry out there Kyle Schwabab who said he couldn't be the leadoff hitter but a good night for
the leadoff hitter Trey three hits and I just want them again to let this lineup kind of play a little bit and and
See how it goes. I'd be remiss if I didn't get this in because we're trying to sell books
And I want you to read the book. So if you haven't heard
we I books and I want you to read the book. So if you haven't heard, I co-wrote a Philly's
book along with my friend Kevin Revy called Ring the Bell. If you would like to pre-order
it, love for you to pre-order it. You can get it at ringthebellbook.com. It comes with
free shipping and an autographed copy. So some you know, some incentives there. And it's basically a fun look at Phil's history,
combined with like the writing of a psychopath, you know?
Like I, even I was kind of writing it,
and I would like do it, you know,
a little Jack note off of something that happened
in one of the playoff games.
And I'm like, this is a moment
that I thought they were gonna lose and
you know just
Just real sicko like a real like if you're if you're a Phillies
Diseased person like like myself because I think there's there's been diehard and and diseased
It's a truly truly. It's for the sickos. It's it. That's what it is. That's what the
Ring the bell is for. So
you know a lot of good contributions all throughout, you know, Larry Boa, LA helped out on it,
Mike Arbuckle, you know, a lot of the a lot of the the main Phillies guys over the years and
it was really fun. So if you're looking for a nice a nice summer read, maybe a Father's Day gift,
fun. So if you're looking for a nice summer read, maybe a Father's Day gift, we'd love for you to read the book. And I'm sorry for the amount that I'm going to plug it, but
you know, I'm proud of it and I hope you would enjoy it. So ringthebellbook.com to pre-order,
would appreciate that. Tomorrow we get a scheduled loss out of the way now. I probably won't be you know, and Tony sends Taylor is
Not exactly great and his first outing he didn't go for a third of shutout baseball
But he did allow nine hits. I remember Bryce's like first year. He launched a baseball off him. So
He's always been a power guy, but you know, no real excuse to lose even with Taiwan on the mound.
I would probably take the over if I was,
if I would ever gamble,
but maybe take the, take the over in that one.
Now a positive trend that so far in a season,
and again, super small sample size,
but I think we're pretty hyper focused on what the offense
is doing.
They only had four strikeouts tonight, and now three of them happened consecutive at
bats in a big spot, which is definitely not good, officially not good.
If you take out opening day, where they struck out 19 times, can't happen but shadows and McKenzie
Mackenzie Gore is pretty good if you take out opening day they have the lowest
strikeout rate in baseball it's around 12% so and that's even after tonight
baby steps you know they talked a lot about in the postseason we cannot
strike out you got to put the bat on the baseball. And at least so far, they're doing a much, much, much better
job with that.
So again, super small sample size.
But I think, I'm like you, we're all hyper-focused
on every little thing the offense does.
At least from that standpoint, they're not really
striking out a lot and
I think that is good to see. Madsen Westchester. What's happening Matt?
Yo what's up Jack? What's up brother what do you got?
How good was the bottom of the lineup tonight? Sosa and Rojas so good. They have the tell
mentality right? Yup good to see need that. Um, the only thing
that I wanted to say that was like some sort of a negative was Matt Strom didn't look great,
but he also didn't look completely like healthy to me. Sure. What do you think of that? Yeah,
I, I, I think he's still kind of rounding into form a little bit. You know, you didn't
have the smoothest end of, of spring training. He was obviously banged up a little bit. You know, you didn't have the smoothest end of spring training.
He was obviously banged up a little bit.
Didn't really pitch much at the end
and then had the packing injury.
So I think it's more of a case of still
working his way back up,
but still wanna get him out there.
And at least he got out of it.
You know, he's someone that,
I feel like he gets into those first and second
one out situations a lot.
And for, you know, a large majority of the time, it feels like he gets into those first and second one out situations a lot and
For you know a large majority of the time it feels like he gets out of it I think it's a ramp up thing give it two weeks and and I think we'll start seeing more of the the normal Matt strong
Yeah, hopefully just look like you like stretching out his back a little bit while he was on the mound
Yeah, I saw that too. Definitely didn't like it. So yeah, good point. Yeah, just someone to watch
For sure and and I appreciate the phone call bullpen overall I think has looked
apart I know that you know we wanted to sit Romano after the first game or even
before we went in the first game but you know I I think his stuff is gonna get
better as season goes on strong hopefully works his way through this
thing Alvarado continues to look awesome
maybe the best alvarado we've seen here besides like the first couple of like the first month of 2023 so you know alvarado's in a good spot kirk ring is coming and done a job and they're going
to need one of the other guys to pop i kind of wish they scored more runs it was i wanted to see
what cesar or carlos hernandez looked like, because I think his stuff was intriguing.
I love the bit of giving 35s to random players.
Oscar Mercado was the first to wear 35,
and then it was Oscar Mercado originally,
and then I believe it was Bradley Zimmer,
and now it's Carlos Hernandez, but either way.
They're gonna need one of those guys to pop Joe Ross. I think is interesting
But at least when those four in the game, I've said a million times
It feels like when you when I can go into a ballgame and I I have the ability to use a Kirkering
Alvarado Strom and Romano
I feel pretty good about it
so a lot of a lot of good pieces to this team
and we know they're gonna be carried by starting pitching.
And man, has Zach Wheeler looked the part.
Owens in Springfield, what's happening, O?
Owens!
Owens not ready to go.
Mike's in Westchester, what's happening, Mike?
Hey, what's going on, Fritz, how's it going?
Good, brother, what do you got?
By the way, a big, big David Dahl
wore 35 last year I believe,
but before our guy Hernandez.
Well, no, I think David Dahl is 31,
because I was looking up 31s that wore the uniform.
Maybe he started at 35 and then eventually got to 31.
I think you're right, at some point he did.
But I know at one point he 31. Yes, there's been some
Confirmed I turned 31 this year some garbage just garbage fillies of war 31
So it makes me a little nervous about my my year upcoming. Yeah, hopefully it doesn't correlate
Hey, yeah, I was at the game tonight. It was it was cold
It was rainy and it didn't feel like a hitters night
But I'm just really,
really, really encouraged by the at-bats that they're taking.
You know, outside of Kyle Schorber and Bryce Harper, obviously, who if they want to go
up and try to hit a home run every at-bat, I'm all right with it.
That's when this lineup, to me, gets in the most trouble, when we get long ball happy.
And seeing JT and Trey and Nick Costiano, who underratedly
has just had some exceptional at bats all year so far, staying through the middle of
the field, not trying to do too much.
That's when this lineup, it's like, hey, one through nine, there's no break for a pitcher.
And like you mentioned, I think the first thing you said during the show tonight, it's
hard to correlate what we're doing, you know, April 2nd for October
But it does feel like it's it's an effort
They're making this year where we're maybe a little more focused on you know
Not all trying to hit home runs and having a bit more of an approach
Yeah, and I appreciate the phone call Mike and that was was frustrating about the home openers
I thought they were trying to lift and launch and you know, I think it's looked good so far again strikeout
rate good I just wonder or I think about why well what's it looking like in the
dog days of summer middle summer and are they when they go through their
eventual cold spell on offense which happens every single year do they get
panicky and go back to what they've always done so I think so far a great
been good but I just wonder as the season goes on and then you know, hey, maybe
September
they lock back in and and and get rolling but either way
I think that tonight was a step in the right direction from the standpoint of
Playing winning baseball and a winning brand of baseball that's gonna do it for me, Francisco Rojas
produced the program, Neil in the Northeast Band.
Don't you worry, Brody is coming up next.
He will take your phone calls.
I'm sure if you're heading over to the ballpark,
you wanna go from juice in the final out to even more juice.
Like we got Hunter Brody coming up next,
so it's absolutely beautiful.
We will be back on the afternoon show with Ike's, Buck and Fritz after the game.
So reacting to it all as the Fills go for a sweep with Ty-1 Walker on the mound.
Could be a schedule loss, probably shouldn't be a schedule loss.
Take the over and let's make some money.
But thanks for checking out.
Hunter Brody's coming up next here on Sports Radio 94WYP.
