Starting point is 00:01:32 Oh hi ho hi ho I feel a little less. Yeah. It is another addition of the high of podcast presented by Miller Lite, official sponsor of the Philadelphia Phillies tastes like Miller Time Philadelphia celebrate responsibly Fritz. I don't really have a ton to say today. Not much has changed since last time we spoke. We're kind of just as you said for like like the last month, get us, get me the playoffs. Now it's like, get us literally into the playoffs. We could stop being attentive to this stupid regular season, but I want to miss. I want to miss the only reason we're here today.
Starting point is 00:02:16 I want to miss big day, big day. It's a, it's a, for the movement. I mean, is there anything more,, appropriate, whatever you or of course, you know, is there anything more than Taiwan like clinching a playoff spot tonight against the Mets like is there a more like like ridiculous way to tie the loop? Yes, well, I was getting a lot of messages earlier this morning. Already feels like a loss. Can't disagree more.
Starting point is 00:02:47 Can't disagree more. Feels like a win. Feels like a win. Like I, I really hope Taiwan in this becomes a thing. It's too good of a name. It's too good of a name. So Taiwan's in the mountains
Starting point is 00:03:00 and I had a chance to end this thing. It was annoying watching the Brewers be able to celebrate something last night. Especially because they had already clinched like they clinched it like four o'clock in the afternoon when the Cubs won or lost. So it's like, all right, like you couldn't just like give us tonight. You jerk, dude. I wanted to double clinch, man. I wanted the double. It would be funny. Maybe they could just like bond, you know, like we could all celebrate together. It would be funny. Both teams bond, you know, they could all celebrate together.
Starting point is 00:03:25 Reese definitely would have came out. Now I will say probably better for the Mets series that they did not win last night. Agree, agree, agree. They weren't going to go. They said they weren't going to go too hard and whatever. Champagne toast. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:37 The champagne. Can we just get rid of champagne? I knew that I was so bad. I'm bad. You know, it's not so bad. It tastes horrible. No, it does not taste. Yes, it does. Oh, wine tastes horrible. People. I can't I can't. So I'm not. Okay. I'm not I'm a beer guy. I'm not a wine guy personally. But like, I will drink wine is nice. Like wine is fine. And champagne is lovely. What's lovely about champagne? The only issue is
Starting point is 00:04:02 hard. It's wine tasting seltzer. You just there. Watch yourself. I rain it the hell in there, buddy. All right. The big take. Yeah, we are big takes only on this. We are a pro seltzer podcast in all forms. Okay, even even pretend forms that you think tastes like it. Where's sweat peas coming out with a seltzer, by the way, a hard seltzer, come on, sweat peas. Are they? I don't know. They should. They should. Are they still around? Oh, you way, a hard seltzer. Come on. Schweppes are they? I don't know. They should. They should. Are they still around? I think so.
Starting point is 00:04:28 Schweppes was a staple. I know. They're the OG. They're the OGs of seltzer. Yeah, them. Canada Dry. You know, the vintage. Now I call it La Croix. La Croix. I do too. People get really mad. I did it for a while. Yeah. My wife, Emily got mad. She was like, it's LaCroix. I'm like, ah, LaCroix.
Starting point is 00:04:46 I think it's LaCroix. Yeah. And she had to pull up on the website. They have some slogan where it's like, LaCroix is like the boy or say it's something that rhymes and it's clearly LaCroix. And I was like, I'm still not, I'm still not. It's not nearly as fun.
Starting point is 00:04:59 So champagne's gross. And like they probably would have been fine for today. And by the way, like, can we stop with these teams having a night game? Like before a road trip, if they played seven 15 last night or seven 40 last night, now I got to get on a plane to, to, to New York and, and go and try to win. I just, they probably got it in what? Like two in the morning. Well, and like the brewers just had the Brewers came from that like 12, eight, 10 game in Arizona flew back and played a game right away.
Starting point is 00:05:31 Now this not road trip, road trip, but still it's like enough. All right. Game at one o'clock. Yeah. Grow up. Grow up. I know you want to celebrate the division. I know. It's actually a middle of the week game. Like I feel like Wednesday is honestly, I honestly almost feel like the third game of any series should always be a day. I agree. Like what are we doing here?
Starting point is 00:05:49 Well, I'm what I mean, pretty disappointing in the, the Brewer's fans. No one there. Oh yeah. It was pretty empty. Shocking. Not enough people there to see Chuck from Mount Airy on the big screen. You know what I'm saying? That's what I'm saying.
Starting point is 00:06:00 We only got one report of the truck from Mount Airy thing and had that not happened, we would have been robbed of a great moment. So hilarious. Yes It was so for those who didn't see it just to say we're talking about The Brewers for one of harbors at bats put on their big screen like the the jumbotron Like they put little facts or ever and was like hit his 299th home run for Chuck from Radio it was hilarious. Yeah good move. I Props I think the person directly responsible for that and I'm sure he was a big family It was here was Matt Klintak. I mean I had to be like good point when I was driving around
Starting point is 00:06:38 I always loved listening to WIP and We just figured we'd give him a nice little shout out. You know, maybe it's that Matt Klintak long time high hopes listener has heard us give him a little credit recently. It was like, you know what? I'm going to give Jack back one. Yep. Cause I know that this will make Jack happy to have it on his show. I think it really mattered to him.
Starting point is 00:06:57 They were so cool to me. Always had my back. Always caught him. King, Clint, Clint. Tag. I mean, we gave him that nickname. No big deal. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:04 I could, you know, just saying. He's going to be remembered as the headweight of the, of the eventual world series champion. Philadelphia Hillis. Brand tricky. Y'all remember. Oh, he did sign Zach Wheeler who turns out. No, we actually did this thing.
Starting point is 00:07:15 Like I'm actually serious. Like you look at the best party, like Chris Sanchez trade. I mean, come on, dude. Like there's multiple things where you can look and be like, all right, Matt. All right, bro. You know what I mean? John Middleton signed Bryce there's multiple things where you can look at me like, all right, Matt. All right, bro. You know, I mean, John Middleton's I'm rice Harbor, but he did put the contract together. I mean, JT trade.
Starting point is 00:07:31 That looks like a great trade. I mean, could there be a better trade than trading nothing for JD? Like we always say, always trade the prospect. Yeah. I will say if there, I do think if, if Clint tech wants to be mad at anyone, he should be mad at any. Let's be honest. Of course. Any McPhail absolutely ruined that Clint tax opportunity.
Starting point is 00:07:49 The big question is if they do get it done, do they send Clint tech a courtesy ring? I like that. I think he should. I think Clint tech deserves a ring. I do. McPhail does not deserve McPhail deserves. I don't think he knows he was a McPhil deserves a
Starting point is 00:08:06 lit bag on a wedge that no a lit bag on his doorstep. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, like, oh, a classic prank move there. That's what I would give them. Yeah. I remember when he did the press conference from his house in Maryland. I'm Lee, but has anyone ever just put their feet up more in the history of Philadelphia? Like, he's just like, okay, hey, I'm watching a movie. All right. Figure it out yourselves. Like I feel like that's always my image. It was going, Hey, Matt, Clint, that come on me.
Starting point is 00:08:31 Hey, Andy, uh, question for you. Figure it out. Okay. I don't got time to do that. Yeah. I'm watching the matrix. Yep. Very interesting.
Starting point is 00:08:37 Yeah. I don't get it. What a time. I do like the, uh, and we joke about it always, you know, the Adam Eaton, all that, and then Taiwan on, I do like the and we joke about it always, you know, the Adam Eaton, all that and then Taiwan. I do like the potential ring group this year. Like I like the idea of Buddy Buddy Kennedy getting a ring. I like the idea of Cal Stevenson getting a ring and Joe from Northeast getting a ring for calcium weeping. I it's a fun group.
Starting point is 00:09:00 It's like, you know, the Adam Eaton thing. Like there's a lot of guys where I think if they could pull it off, we'd get like a, a fun ovation. It's not as there's not a, a Bobby Rossman deep cut, like the 2022 team or Kingery getting a, oh yeah. And it rang. Yeah. But yes, there is a, a good collection. Yeah. And just fun guys and guys who have felt like the buddy game point where like these guys might've only been here for a minute or two, but it felt like they contributed in one way or another, you know,
Starting point is 00:09:28 You know who would get a ring? progden dude progden Our guy shout out to the progden's he got shelled. Yeah, and then they sent him immediately to the dodgers, but He's part of the turnaround. Yeah. It's like a symbolic ring. What do you think? I like that we're talking World Series. I do too.
Starting point is 00:09:47 It's good. What do you think? Healthy. If you're like Connor Brogdon, for example, like Buddy Kennedy, you're here. If you're like a Connor, like Adam Eaton, for example, like how do you feel about that? Adam Eaton earned that ring. He made 28 starts or 20 some starts on that team. Brogdon pitched two innings. Okay, you're're a frog and you pitched two innings on a team.
Starting point is 00:10:08 Like, how do you feel when you get that ring? Like, is it just like, uh, Thanks. Like, I mean, it's a world series ring, but it's also like, I didn't really earn this ring. Like, what do you do? I mean, you tell your kids you're a world. Yeah, that's what I mean. And do you wear the ring out? Like, like we just had John D. Filippo on the morning show with us. It was awesome. He was really good. But you know what he did? He was freaking Super Bowl ring it because he's like, yeah, I earned this. I was a part of this and he deserved to do that.
Starting point is 00:10:33 Like if there are other people who wear that Super Bowl ring around who don't deserve it, no names. But like, how would you feel? Would you rock the ring? Would you ever? I feel like I would probably just put it in a safe or something and just yep This or oh display and just have it sitting in would never wear. What's that? Oh, it's I played from for like a minute I got a ring. It was pretty cool. I'm not I'm not a ring. Yeah. Oh, I'm not either other than yeah Yeah, I've skinny fingers I don't have I don't have a good. I don't have a good good ring finger guy. Does it fall off you?
Starting point is 00:11:06 No, I just like... Listen, I have skinny fingers and I feel like it doesn't... I think you're just getting skinny all around here. Look at you. Under 220 for the first time in 10 years. Is it really? Yeah, nobody can do to me. Good for you, buddy.
Starting point is 00:11:20 Look at these things. That's not a ring hand, you know what I mean? I don't think they're that skinny. There hasn't been much grit to these chubby to be honest I don't think so. You gotta shove your hands and I do Where in there on yours I have longer fingernails. Yeah, I'm older. Yeah Beat up beautiful more manual labor. I'll get that on camera? Oh, yeah, that'll be a great If you could slow it down to and then you get what's the song that this is only the guys are running in slow motion Charlotte Charlotte of the
Starting point is 00:11:59 Chariots of fire. Oh Yeah It's a fire. So we're just producing. Producing there. Thank you. I like it. You ever see the movie? It's fire. Never would never my birth year. 1981. I only know is the best picture winner from that year. I've never seen it. There you go. You love the Oscar. I do. I'm an Oscars man. Dude, it's there's I know. So all right. I don't love it. Like I use. I don't want to. I will never defend the Oscars man did it's there's I know
Starting point is 00:12:31 I don't want to I will never defend the Oscars. I just love it. I don't want to rip you. Yeah, it's hard not to Yeah, I know. I know it's the two worst versions of seltzer Twitter There is no seltzer to like six times a week Eagles game day seltter. Yeah. Beyond the worst, almost unfollowable. Like six times or in the air, 10 times or in the push, push. Lol, lol, lol. Say, I don't know. It's no, it's LFG. I don't do lol.
Starting point is 00:12:57 I do LFGs. And then Oscar Salter, where he's like, I can't believe. How did that win Best Picture? I don't know. I don't know. I didn Best Picture? I don't know. I don't know. I didn't vote. I didn't vote. I don't care. I think these are actual tweets. Did you you on Oscars Day is like your 20 film. Yes, I tweet out my 10 films because I watch the Oscar films because I'm a completist.
Starting point is 00:13:19 Thank you. You're a completist when it comes to the Oscars. I got to watch all 10 best pictures. Now, I could start a TV show, watch an episode and just give up on it. I'm not really a completist in most things when it comes to the Oscars. Got to watch all 10. Push push. What are we talking about? Where are they?
Starting point is 00:13:37 They shook up 32 times. Good. No, it was good. No, it was great. He was really good. Whenever there's a chance to clinch. He's just like locked out besides in game six, but met in the regular season has to be brought out. It does has to be brought up. So no, it was great last night. And it was so important from the standpoint of like
Starting point is 00:13:56 where they're currently at. I think we feel pretty good about a lot of portions of the team. So I think Schwab has been like Schwab, Timber might be a thing. It's been, he's been great. Turner has turned it around. He's looking, you know, healthy, which is important. Bryce, the power is coming back. Cassiano's boom. They got to figure out the four spot. It was good. It was good to see. It was good to see. Marsh has been heating up. Stop. I think we're just, what it is, what it is. So you feel good about that.
Starting point is 00:14:25 You feel good about at least Wheeler and Sanchez. And then you feel like they got four or five guys in the bullpen, you feel great about. The key to this whole thing going the way we want it to go, they need Noah. And that's not like breaking news, but like he couldn't head into the post season pitching the way he was.
Starting point is 00:14:42 I mean, he was, But he could, he did it last year. No, no, no, no, no. But what he did last year was horrible. The first three starts of September and then the last, no, he got the last two. He had the mechanical, the fame. Oh, man. Sorry.
Starting point is 00:14:54 Yeah. Pointing at the third base line. I, I don't know why I, I, I kind of just trust that Noah's going to be fine by the playoffs. Like even without last night prior to last night, like I just, I just think he's going to be fine by the playoffs. Like even without last night, prior to last night, like I just, I just think he's gonna be fine. And I think it's gonna be the kind of thing where, you know, if he makes, you know, five playoffs starts, I think four will be, I think three will be great. I think one will be okay. Okay. And one will be bad. That's Aaron Noah. He is again, he is a he's a coin flip. Yeah, he's not he's like better than a coin in the playoffs and he's better than coin flip. But he's like a four sided coin where three of them are the same size. You know what I mean? Sure. All right. So the four outcomes, you feel good about three of them.
Starting point is 00:15:32 And then there's always the one. The one point. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, it's just I don't you know, I guess the way to put it is that I never know what I'm going to get. I totally agree with that. You don't know which day that's where I'm getting the better. Like we are. No doubt. You feel pretty great about it. No, it's great. Well, Wheeler, I expect nothing but brilliance in the world. He is. And I think we do this every single year.
Starting point is 00:15:51 Like every single year we're like, oh, we don't give enough credit for how great he is. But we don't. Like everyone. Listen, you know, Cliff, we love Cliff. Love Doc. We love those guys. Like Cole. He's in there. Like he's 100% in there and like, How are they for those three years, the best I've seen. Without a doubt.
Starting point is 00:16:10 There's no doubt about it. It's just what it is. It's what it is. But like, he should be right behind him. He's prognax. He's at a cliff. Yeah, I think he is. I mean, I think he is.
Starting point is 00:16:18 I just think he's at a cliff lay. I do, as a filly. Like, I do. Especially when you take into account the, I mean, his play out, like obviously holiday pitches much and no hitter and all that, but like what Wheeler's done over two post seasons is as good as it gets his career. His career postseason, ERAs 2.4. And I think he still has the, does he still have the best whip in the
Starting point is 00:16:40 history of the postseason? He's up there. He is, he is one of the best whips in the history of the postseason. It's lower than all pitch. Yeah. It's like 0.7 or something crazy like that. Like 0.8. Like it is absurd. What this he has been as great. He has been through two playoffs and we'll see what he's been the best Phillies postseason pitcher of all time through two books. And there's no one, there's no one in baseball that I would rather give the baseball to in a big game than Zach. I Think I agree with that. Yeah, you could say sale because of what he's done this year
Starting point is 00:17:12 But sales not nice none of the playoffs as much I mean he's one with Boston on but he hasn't done it in the playoffs much and he struggled in that in the end of that now I came in at the end and close it out could say nasty native Aldi, but probably not. Probably not. Probably not. I like where your head's at. We're getting nasty Nate this offseason.
Starting point is 00:17:31 That's my goal. My goal is offseason. I need... So you need nasty Nate? Just one. I want one of Aldi season. Just one one. Okay.
Starting point is 00:17:38 That's when he's not cooked. That's my goal. Where is he going to start in the rotation with Andrew Painter? Is that not the thing he's gonna be there Yeah, I don't know six man Not as not my job once he's in a nasty name, but Wheeler's just he's he's an absolute horse He's a definition of a horse He's a monster
Starting point is 00:17:56 so but getting no look back and getting him on the right track and then he had into the postseason I I Still in my gut Thank you. He for the start game too. I just it'd be it's so Rob Thompson to just be like, Nola's gotten us here. No, starting game two. Like I don't think that's fair. It just is what it is. Like I don't think they're honestly, I think there is a zero per like point one percent chance that Nola doesn't start. Like I would put it like I would put it like 10. Would you really like in all honesty? Why you think they'll really look at the numbers and see how great he's been at home? I just don't I think Nola is their
Starting point is 00:18:28 number two. But I also do believe that they would they would say to Nola, you see the numbers, right? Yeah. And I don't think Nola would care. I mean, it's, I don't think Nola would care. I just don't think they'll do. I don't think they'll do it either. But I don't think it's like a 000% chance. I think there's like a 10% chance. I don't know they'll do it either, but I don't think it's like a zero zero zero percent chance I mean, there's like a ten percent chance. I don't know one percent. Okay, you got me a one. Thank you Yeah, thank you. My big question on Sanchez is Are they gonna trust them? Like are they gonna let Chris Sanchez cook like last year in
Starting point is 00:19:01 Arizona he went what three four They were I think Megan two and to and to some. They got him out of their fast. They do not trust me. It was three and two thirds. It was something like that. And I hope that's not the case this year. I hope that's not the case this year with Chris Angeles.
Starting point is 00:19:14 I think he's earned that. Now, Ranger, on the other hand, he's going to start a playoff. But I think that he is going to be more used like the twenty twenty two Ranger where it was in the bullpen sometimes start a game when you need them if but the bullpen's also in a different spot so it's hard to totally say that Ranger at this point is is a one or one and a half like halfway through a lineup guy you can't let him face a an opposing lineup twice yeah right now it's like it's hard. Basically, you treat him like an opener. Yeah, he's getting shelved. The second. Oh, I know. Yeah, I again, I it's a shame. And really, it's too bad that he was never able to kind of and look, maybe the playoffs come and you're like Harper in 2022. He just can figure it out and the heartbeat and all that
Starting point is 00:20:00 stuff. But it is a shame that that it never was able to reestablish because he was he was the best pitcher in baseball for two months, which is crazy. We're going to get 10 and one with a sub to ERA like he was phenomenal. It is it's too bad. Well, and I think he's. He still looks at that back tight like he can't fully you can't fully let it loose. So again, a time off maybe at the end of the
Starting point is 00:20:26 year, it gets him like something because they at this point, if they don't get a one or two, see to be pretty disappointing. But yeah, I especially having the tiebreaker now on the Brewers by winning one of those games, they're up three on the Brewers, which means four with 10 to play or 11 to play. It would be a monumental collapse if they can be disappointed. So real quick on that, again, I don't have too much to say today, but I do think I think the most I've been we talked about this last pod and I was very much in like I don't think you can think about playing for the two or whatever.
Starting point is 00:21:00 And I don't think they will. I think that you play you play what you play whenever and who knows maybe the last series if it's one or two is like, but you, I do think your, your argument for the, the two, because of who you're going to play. And again, there's things that can change. The Mets are scary too. Like the Mets could, could walk through the playoffs the way they've been playing. But I do make that argument. So I do think that is a compelling way to look at it. Like I still think you play the best you can and you're trying to get the one, but the argument that you're facing the Brewers, Matt's winner, as opposed to the Diamondbacks, Padres winner is a pretty good argument. Pretty much what it comes down to. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:33 I w we watched the Brewers the last couple of nights. I think that offensively they're, they're much better than that. They're not the last couple of years Brewers where they just didn't have pieces offensively now they did a really good job against Chirio who I think is a problem. I think he's going to be really good. Lili Adames 0 for 20 this year against the Phillies which I just I can just feel it in my gut. I can just feel it. They get into a postseason series and he goes nuclear. I just the way they kept talking about how he hasn't got it against the Phillies. I kept betting on him. I was like he's's going to hit a home run. It was plus eight, 51 point, but regardless. But like the, I, we watched the Brewers the last couple of nights.
Starting point is 00:22:10 Their number one is Freddie Peralta who I like Freddie Peralta, but for me, he's like a two, yeah, maybe even a three really like Frankie Montas. Yeah. I know. Is their next best starter. Freaking Aaron Savalli. It's a bunch of cast offs and look, they've done a nice job. Like they always do.
Starting point is 00:22:24 They do. I mean, Savalli last It's a bunch of cast offs. And look, they've done a nice job. Like they always do. They do. I mean, Savalli last year looked like he was done. It's been nice for them. Like it's certainly over the last cut. He started poor, but Montaz, same thing like Montaz. It looked like, you know, wow, his career might never get back to where it was. If the Yankees thing odds and things. Okay.
Starting point is 00:22:38 He's been really good. I'm intense. Right. Counts last night or two nights ago, whatever. Like, um, they're very impressive in their ability to take these guys and just reform them. An unbelievable pitching development program. And then you get to the bullpen, they're both nests. They got dudes, they got a bunch of dudes that throw hard and the Devin Williams is impossible. Yeah, we are. I, you know, I love the witch thing like trying and I like Devin Williams is a witch. Like he is, I don't, I don't understand.
Starting point is 00:23:03 It's like a whiff of all wall. Like I don't get it. Brewers' Phillies would be excruciating. Yeah, it would be hard to one, one nothing. It would be a horrible series to watch. It would not be fun at all. I don't think it would do well numbers wise, but in an effort to keep this in line with 08, Brewers' Dodgers, it would be nice.
Starting point is 00:23:21 It's a good point. I didn't think about that. Thank you. You know what's great about ambition. I didn't think about that. Thank you. You know what's great about ambition? You can't see it. Some things look ambitious, but looks can be deceiving.

So the Dimebags, as I said, I want to wait the longest possible. I want to beat them. I want someone to knock them out. Exactly. I don't. I would prefer not to play Dimebags.
Starting point is 00:24:57 And they're not even playing that well right now. No, but I just don't care. I'm just not in on it. I'm not in. I not in But I don't and I know they're talented and they've been also it's them the Mets and the Dimebacks the best teams in baseballs And the Ozarks are my Ersene side London or wherever like I can't I can't get scared of the Padres I don't know why I know they have the talent they got to do Dylan sees is amazing like the bullpen's great like I just Can't get there with the Padres. I don't know why the Padres terrifying me. It's it's it's the bullpen. It's Machado looks he looks good, like two years, three years ago.
Starting point is 00:25:32 Machado, the teases back and healthy. I mean, they've got a 300 season out of profile. I've got a lot. Yes, I know. I just I don't know why they just it. Well, because you're thinking about that years ago. You think about bedlam at the bank. This team, this team's better than that team. It's like with CIS and Musgrove now back and Darvish now back. And then you get to the back end of the bullpen with Suarez and they won't theoretically they won't have a hater situation.
Starting point is 00:25:57 So they'll bring in guys whenever they want. So the Padres a hundred percent where I mean, and what they're pretty like smartly constructed with Cronenworth and Arise and the guys Yeah, I mean arise it since it was a he's had two strikeouts this year's in here last Whatever. I know since he also break or whatever. It's not So no, he's fun. I love him. He'll in the postseason series if you I One of the like it outside of like put one total in the Phillies.
Starting point is 00:26:25 Yeah, sure. That'd be cool. Like outside of superstars or whatever, there's no one I'd want on the Phillies more than Luis Reyes, just in a vacuum. Like obviously it doesn't fit right now and all that. But like I love guys like that.
Starting point is 00:26:34 I love a guy who's just going to go up and hit over the door every year and put the bat on the ball. Yeah, like we love cigar. Oh, you know, Leroy's a better like a significantly better version as a hitter than Segura. So so the Padres, I think of all the teams, they actually worry me the most.
Starting point is 00:26:49 I actually think we're more worried about the Padres than the Dodgers. Wow. Yeah. Which is bad. Strong take. 100% bad. It's using the Dodgers history against them. Yeah, fair. But also like, you know. So the case for the two seed, the case for the two seed is simple. It's it's. Oh, yeah, it's very straightforward straightforward the Brewers are are are good, but I think of the teams
Starting point is 00:27:09 I would like to play them in the mats like they've obviously been really good. They've been really good scare me I got on there's no going on with them. I don't they don't like it. I don't like it plus What's worse losing the Padres losing the Mets losing the Padres? Oh No losing them yeah, that's way worse losing the Mets is like off no I can't handle it shut me down I'm not looking at anything for the office I'm done I know like if these surprises it would suck we got him a couple years ago they got us and move on no no you know I'm just saying I'm just looking out for us here I know either way it's gonna be tough now
Starting point is 00:27:42 getting home home field off rather playoff would be big. And I think that's look, I don't think that I don't think the Phillies are thinking this way. I think the Phillies are going shouldn't think this. No, and they shouldn't. I agree. I think the Phillies are going to play for the ones. And look again, the last three of the season, if they know that the one and the two are locked up and they look at it and they're like, all right, you know what? Rest, it's possible. Then they're like, all right, let's get some guys a blow or whatever.
Starting point is 00:28:04 But I do think that would be really interesting. It'd be fascinating the final week. Fascinating. Well, I mean, we know that has not worked well. No, again, history has not been kind to teams who try to. No, no, it hasn't. And that's why that's why my gut is is I don't want to do that. But it is an interesting. Let the chips fall where they let the chips.
Starting point is 00:28:24 Look, they're only one up on the Dodgers, which means to a bigger bit. Let's see what happens. OK, by what Dodgers? Their pitching staff is is I don't know, man, like they got shelled by the Marlins the other night. You know, they give 11 or something. Yeah. And the Marlins kind of slowly came back last night. It's a little risky. Yeah. Connor Norby, Otto Lopez.
Starting point is 00:28:43 You're not a Lopez guy. I hit. I like him. I like your Edward. a little frisky. Yeah. Connor Norby, Otto Lopez. You're not a Lopez guy. I like him. I like Edward. Yeah. Oh, he is fun. Yeah. Griffin, Conan. I like you know, you're a Norby guy. You've talked about. Yeah. Would die. Yeah. They got some dudes there. I mean, they're they're they're horrible. They're bad team. They're right now. They're definitely not horrible. They're frisky. You see the White Sox tweet last night. So it's so funny because I ended up because it was the only game on from, you know, on the second TV. I'm hanging with Emily and from like, I guess, like five fifty six o'clock until six forty started or maybe it was like six ten.
Starting point is 00:29:20 Until then, the only game on was Angels White Sox. So your boy was watching Angels White So and ended up going to like that. I left it in the 13th inning to go watch the Phillies or 12th anywhere ever, but that ended up going for a while angels and I'm winning. But yes, I watched a lot of angels white socks. That's disgusting. So I wasn't. Now the white socks speeded after the game last night. Final. The other team scored more runs than us. Good work. Yeah. They, I mean, I, I don't know about you.
Starting point is 00:29:47 Obviously, I already feel like I won my take bolt thing. I feel great about that. Great call by me. I want to see him lose 121. It just it seems fun. It seems at this point, like, let me see 121 lost. If I didn't think that was ever going to happen. Well, the good part is that not many people have seen 100. Like, no one's watching. I mean, like, no one's physically seen all those losses. Oh, that's a good point. Yeah, there is one's watching. I mean, like no one's physically seen all those losses. Oh, that's a good point.
Starting point is 00:30:06 Yeah. There is not one per. Besides the broadcast. Yeah. I was about to say broadcast. Yeah. Because the manager got fired. So not even him.
Starting point is 00:30:14 Yeah. Broadcast. It was a great size more as their manager right now. I know. I love great. It's my guy. Really great. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:22 I was so, I was so in the tank for great. Oh my God. And he was hot. When he first came up with, well, when he first came up with the Indians now the Guardians back then he did I I thought he was a freakin star What he was he was an all-star. Yeah, he was really good him in Ellsbury Very similar. Yeah, both should have been better. Yeah, I agree Ellsbury had that one year was it 30 30 year I know I know but 2015 Grady Sizemore or he had like two hot we super sorry was injuries many of microfracture surgery just couldn't recover it sucked or he had like two hot weeks. I was injuries, man.
Starting point is 00:30:42 He had microfracture surgery, just couldn't recover. It sucked. Part of that, that was the Bartolo Cologne to the Expos for Grady Sizemore, Cliff Lee, maybe Brandon Phillips, I think was a part of that trade, maybe something. No, maybe Brandon Phillips was a different trade, but either way, I think it's Cliff Lee, Sizemore, and someone else.
Starting point is 00:31:02 Crazy trade. What were you doing in 2015? 2015. Were you, was What were you doing in 2015? 2015? Were you, Ace? Was that when you were doing sales? I was doing, I was, I was in energy safety sales in 2015. I'm sorry, he was, oh, he did. He was walking into refineries and petrochemical plants and selling gas detection equipment
Starting point is 00:31:16 and breathing. No, 2015. No, nevermind. I was in this business in 2015. Grace? I'm thinking of 2009. Geez Louise. Wow.
Starting point is 00:31:24 2015, I was, I was, I I was pretty I was in training with you. Yeah, you were in turning with me. Yeah. Good job. Great size more somehow played to 2009 there. Great size more somehow played two seasons with the Phillies. Part of part of 2014 and 39 games in the 2015 Phillies. Thrilling. All right. What do you got in the take back?
Starting point is 00:31:43 Just great size. More number. Yeah, it's definitely nap time for me. I've reached my 06 size more than 53 doubles. That's a lot of a lot of doubles. 290 with a 907 OPS. What a guy. All right. What you got here?
Starting point is 00:31:58 I'm just gonna see. I know. I know. I know. I know. So I hope that last night in the ninth was just Managing Hoffman's innings and that the steve has needed some work rather than that's gonna be a step This is fine. We talked about it. And if and if you like if they're managing Hoffman's innings, I'm great with that like
Starting point is 00:32:21 overjoyed frankly because I I don't need him overworked setting I agree a hundred percent and I said this hadn't has pitched twice in the last seven days so he did theoretically need work and maybe there's a scenario where they felt better about him in the ninth if it went to ten they want Hoffman for that spot you know with a runner on second base and no outs because he can get strikeouts better but if that happens in the postseason I'm kind of freak out man I'm going to freak out. Man, I'm going to throw a fit. He is the best reliever.
Starting point is 00:32:49 And by the way, Kirk, I'm with you, but her career reached out. Yeah, he's awesome. He is awesome. I think I figured out when the Phillies offense struggles the most. It's like a pendulum. I think this is right. Could be wrong. They struggle the most. It's like a pendulum. I think this is right. Could be wrong. They struggle the most. I know. I know. I got their sweet spot and when they struggle
Starting point is 00:33:13 there's two extremes. When they struggle, and this is obvious, but elite pitching, like the best of the best, they got no shot. Or the worst of the worst. Elite pitching development. Or it's a guy you've never heard of. It's one of the slash a rookie. This is good. Like it's as simple as that. Yeah. Right in the middle.
Starting point is 00:33:31 They're fine. Yeah. Guys can be pretty good. Pretty good. You've heard of the other guy down the book down below. They either have to be someone you've never heard of and they'll suck or, and be a rookie or whatever, or the best of the best That's when they struggle the most so the Brewers have an unbelievable pitching development again I'm not too worried about 30 few strikeouts in two games
Starting point is 00:33:52 They were they almost for five and oh when they struck out 16 times in a game this year, which is a fantastic bit It's a good because if they did it and they went to five and oh, I I needed them to do it in a postseason game Oh would it it would have been the funniest thing of all time people freaking out that they're never gonna win Thanks, 16 strikeouts bills win a postseason game. It's my dream. It's all I want right happen Big good happen. It could definitely happen. This team is very capable But it was definitely like we definitely do not need to strike. No but it was definitely like, we definitely do not need to strike. No, that sounds as horrible.
Starting point is 00:34:24 I'll watch it. After decades of shaky hands caused by debilitating tremors, Sunnybrook was the only hospital in Canada who could provide Andy with something special. Just just just wrong with it.
Starting point is 00:35:35 Craig Kimball released. Yeah, no, we're good. Stop. You want to talk about what will annoy the audience? Worry about that. All right. That's a joke that people don't want to hear. I had a feeling last night. about the postseason you had a feeling yes okay i'm just letting everyone know now now i believe it's two years ago the bit heading of the postseason was that's not the schwabra homerun yes which i admit i like that one yeah it was a good bet i enjoyed that and this one is very specific and it's not as good as the
Starting point is 00:36:06 Swarbrick bit just letting everyone know good. I like just Setting expectations low. It's good at some point this postseason. Mm-hmm. Stubbs is gonna lay down a great fun Okay, here's what I think yeah Stubbs might not get in it back. He's gonna get it in the back. It's going to be a big spot like here's how it's going to happen is it's going to be the seventh thing or later you've Rojas is up with the runners on first and second. They know right in and they bring Stubbs and I just don't see this happening. Then you're using your back catcher. I don't care. Okay. I, I do care. Actually, I'm lying. Yeah. I very much.
Starting point is 00:36:42 I think there's only way he only ways does is getting it. If they're like 10, nothing or down. Then amendment. He's going to lay down. Let's say he's going to lay down a great bit. I like it. Thank you. Lay down a great, great, great. And all time, but we'll talk about for generations. I don't know what the plan is for the cleanup spot. Like, why is and Cassianos has been great.
Starting point is 00:37:05 Seems like it's Nick, right? But why? He's hitting 175 since Bum went down. From the floor spot. Really? Is he really? With a 286 slugging percent. It should be Bum. Of course it should be Bum.
Starting point is 00:37:15 Yeah, that's really weird. I didn't realize he had been that bad. And Cassie's hitting 280 something, I think, from the five hole? Yeah, what are we doing here? Come on. Yeah. You don't need to mess around.
Starting point is 00:37:23 Job's weird. Like, he just like loves old guys. I know. Yeah, what are we doing? He was gone. Yeah, I mean he didn't mess around He just like loves old guys I know he just Already in a man he loves it the Girardi and it's kind of Tory now Tory did what did he move a rods like 8th and 06? Yeah, he did. Yeah, it was a big deal. Imagine that they move nice., I can't imagine Rob doing it. I just can't. Why did you bury Steve Jeltz this morning? Because he was the so that's fair. So growing up in my house, the two people,
Starting point is 00:37:54 the two players who my dad just thought were the worst were Steve Jeltz and Izel Jenkins. So those were the two players who got the brunt of the jokes or ribbings in my house growing up. So I always and I mean, statistically, yeah, I backed up my go to that guy sucks as a Philly's player growing up was always Steve Jeltzer on my house. So that's the first one that popped in my mind. The other name, Iso Jenkins. Oh, Iso. Yeah, toast. Who's the was it Tartable?
Starting point is 00:38:26 Oh, yeah. But you can play it all like so. You're at that. We're at that. Yeah. Well, as always, my parents perish. Got some land perish. Yeah. My house growing up. Yeah. I guess mine was probably David Bell. Yeah. I'm looking forward to David Bell for what it was. Way better. Way better than Steve Jelts.
Starting point is 00:38:41 Yeah. Yeah. David Bell's O'Fours underrated underrated Steve jobs did stink as a player He seems like a great guy. So shout out to see jobs, but You know, I know we all didn't like when I ripped Steve jobs. It was like well I was like, oh, I was like you all see Joseph is being ripped for thirty guys Like what are you doing here? They were like, oh, oh your friends. Okay. Yes. That's it. Good to know. Thank you This is just so we get that out there. Yes, Tucker. Can you scrub the audio of me saying David Bell on 04 was a problem? All right. No, four.
Starting point is 00:39:13 That was bad. Yeah. That was bad. Bad moment. Especially cause that was the year he got the cycle too. Yeah, I know. I know. And it was also the year that was after that year when Polanco picked up his extension or picked up his arbitration so that they kept blocking Utley and could never bring Utley up. But regardless, all the more important things. What do you make of, I got two more things. I promise.
Starting point is 00:39:34 Emily's talking to me about when I'm picking her up. So just responding. Go ahead. Your quick thoughts. What do you make of this, the continued Soto rumors? They're weird. Like I. But they're there. Yeah, there's clearly something there.
Starting point is 00:39:47 Look, I think the Phillies are going to get attached to big names now, kind of with these huge signings that they've made, they've shown they've been willing to spend money. So I think that that's probably part of it. And I think that there's obviously the connection with a bunch of guys who are on those teams are here now, you know, Kevin Long. I would be shocked if Juan Soto is not a Yankee.
Starting point is 00:40:11 I agree. There's just something about the Phillies and Soto thing. Desperately. You know, I think they had the third best odds to get them. I just I would be shocked if and look, he's the one you should give it to. I would just be shocked after the trade contract if they're looking to go give another like, you know, 12 year, $450 million contract. I think the only way it becomes a real thing is that they lose in the DS.
Starting point is 00:40:35 Yes. I think that's fair. That's a really good point. If they, if they're out early and people are freaking out, it's like, all right, screw it. We'll get, we're getting some, it's almost like, oh, and then I'll for, which, you know, I don't know, but I like that idea. No, I would not be upset with one Soto being a Philly for the next decade plus. So I'm just letting you know, cause we've never lied to the high ups listeners. And I don't believe this, but I, unfortunately I only think sometimes in Twitter poll questions,
Starting point is 00:41:04 would you take a first round loss for Wonsoto guarantees you Wonsoto for 10 years? probably dude it's so hard to say no yeah probably I'd have to think about it but probably well hopefully maybe win the World Series and get Wonsoto yeah I think I would. I think I would. Yes, I think I would. I hate it. I hate it. I hate saying it. I'm sorry. I hate it. I hate it. I hate it.
Starting point is 00:41:29 I hate it. I hate it. I hate it. I hate it. I hate it. I hate it. I hate it. I hate it.
Starting point is 00:41:37 I hate it. I hate it. I hate it. I hate it. I hate it. I hate it. I hate it. I hate it. I hate it. I hate would. I hate it. I hate it. I hate saying it.
Starting point is 00:41:45 I'm sorry. I would. Thank you for making me. I wouldn't go. Are we done? Can I give one music thought? Sure. I like your music.
Starting point is 00:41:59 I really hope we don't lose like the I hope we don't lose the forgotten great bands like Boston's a great band. I know I'm like I said T-Rex. I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'mRex? Yes. I'm not talking about like the Who, I'm not talking about like the big band. I know, I said T-Rex. I know. But it's on you, buddy. You've probably heard a T-Rex song and you don't realize it. Yeah, well, listen, it's on me
Starting point is 00:42:36 because you're on, you know, you don't have much time left. You're like Boston, you're going, yeah, ouch, you're going Boston is like wow, have you ever heard of this band called Boston? No, no, no. I'm just saying. Like, they're huge. No, but they've they've lost their luster. Of course many bands have.
Starting point is 00:42:52 Oh, no. And Boston was a problem. Twenty twenty four Boston. They're not they're not brought up as much. I'm just saying it's more on me and Tucker. And eventually as I pass the next generation. Yeah, like you got it. I'll be way dead.
Starting point is 00:43:04 So that's the thing. Right. Yeah. I just hope this guy's screwed. So this is more for the next generation of people. James Taylor also underrated. Sure. I mean, but he's full. I mean, different folk John Denver also has in fire and I've seen rain baby James of it all but that's all over your mom's saying it. I'm sure he did. I'm sure she did. Literally. Yeah. That's an underrated dumb and dumb. Our line is that John Demers. Oh, yeah, it's great.
Starting point is 00:43:32 So that's like your go to most quotable movie. It's the most quote of a movie of all time. It's up there. It's up there. What's more quotable than dumb and dumber? You can like you think you can just quote it all day. It's up there. I'm saying I'm sure. I mean, you say it's up there, but then you're not saying something else. Mr. Movie.
Starting point is 00:43:48 Well, I need to think about it here. Let me pull up my list of many movies. We can go. Anchorman is probably not the dumb and dumber we've talked about. I would say I love you, man, but no one loves. I love you, man. I love I love you, man, but it's not as quotable as dumb. I mean,
Starting point is 00:44:04 Superbad, I love. I think Superbad is the funniest movie of the 2000s, but I don man but it's not it's quote it was dumb dumb I mean super bad super bad I loved I think super ads the funniest movie the 2000s but I don't think it's this better movie super bad or the hangover I think super ads the best comedy of the two thousand yeah I love the first hangover is great I think super red is the best of all that got a little too sappy super yeah there's like the halfway through it's so great friends. You don't like best friends. You're not into best friends. Funny part about that. Not into love. Young love.
Starting point is 00:44:30 Listen, they came out when I was in high school. So, yeah, it was very relatable. You know, me, big party guy. That's true. I was. I'm sure you still are. Yeah, I can bring it. All right. We out of here. Yeah. OK. I'm in Miracle. Met Series, baby.
Starting point is 00:44:46 We did it. Met Series, we'll be back. If they clinch the division. Yes, we'll figure it out. We'll record it. Yeah. We'll be there tomorrow. Yeah. Dude, first division since 2011. Tywanimus. I know, it is a big deal. I'm excited about this. Yes. Yeah, it's good. Alright, Tywanimus. Happy Tywanimus. Happy Tywanimus Day. He's for it himself.
