Can I say something that's just bugging me?
That you haven't won a bet since the Eagles,
since the Philly season ended?
Yeah, Jack's been on a, what's the opposite of a heater?
A colder, a cooler?
No, you know my problem is that-
I had a horrible day on Sunday, if it makes you feel any better.
I had a disaster day, so I feel you, buddy.
Well, that happens.
I live bet the Eagles way too much.
That was a disaster.
Yeah, I know.
Well, you know what they always say.
Yeah. Keep doubling down it's it's sage advice that you get all the time yeah you know the only worst part is
is that i'm on a gold streak but like every pick i give out wins that i don't take because i didn't
have funds yeah um so that was fun um freaking the camera on our have you do you know what he's
done with his picks and
like whatever the last amount of weeks this is i'm not gonna i don't know the exact like 10 weeks or
nine weeks or whatever i guess it would mean that 10 eight weeks whatever he he's 18 three and three
in his last 24 picks that he's given out in the air like that's and i bet on none of them like
because i'm like i'm not betting on the camera's picks whoops 18 three and three's like on a heater and i because i know as soon as i bet on it i'm just done all right
any phillies thing all right because and this is not gonna be popular with them with a lot of
people at least according to twitter you know as that's a good way to gauge things i'm sure um
can we all stop bitching about rob thompson not getting the manager of the year like do we first
of all and most importantly like we don't curse on the podcast i'm not gonna curse and i and jack
i've come around on this again all the videos i got of the kids saying yo and doing the thing like
melts my heart like i'm um you know me like sucker for it it's awesome it makes my day every time it's the only
thing that gets emily to not hate the yo because it you know she's like could you keep the yo down
and i never do and you know it's a whole thing but um point being um i like who cares about the
manager of the year award i was gonna say who the bleep cares. And that's why I didn't, that's why I brought the cursing thing.
Like who cares?
Who cares?
Like Buck Showalter just won it.
All right.
Do you know how many times he's won it?
Did you see that it was two out?
Do you know how many times Buck Showalter is on the manager of the year?
Like four times,
four times,
four.
First of all,
would have never known it if you didn't see the tweets there,
right?
Like who cares?
Okay.
No one knows.
No one cares.
Like we know how many MVPs people won because we care about that no one cares and then like
terry francona wins it in the american league right like very justified great job you know
how many francona has two three the manager of a generation has three and buck showalter is a fine
manager like this is not meant to like rip buck but he's like fine Showalter was a fine manager.
Like, this is not meant to, like, rip Buck, but he's, like, fine.
Like, he's a fine manager.
He is more than Terry Francona.
This is such a stupid award that no one cares about.
No one cares.
Rob Thompson was the World Series manager.
He got to take his team to the frickin' World Series.
He got a contract.
And as someone in his position who never thought he'd even get a managing job,
he's probably over the moon about all this.
Rob's fine.
It's all good.
It's so dumb.
Who cares about managing?
I'm sorry to all the people who clearly care on Twitter. I care about you and this is not meant to rip you.
I'm trying to tell you don't care
about this because it doesn't matter it's so dumb thank you you want to know how i know it's dumb
yes is that if you asked buck showalter who would he rather have been this year buck showalter or
rob what do you think that buck showalter would have chosen great boy it's a great point going on the world series so at the same time like i mean it was pretty much decided that buck show
walter is winning it in like freaking yeah totally um and like also it's not like it's
such a dave roberts was what second or third he's a disaster dave roberts is like a horrific
baseball manager well and and i and i feel like i horrific baseball manager. It's so dumb.
And I feel like I have to explain this.
It's a regular season award.
So they don't vote on it after the World Series.
Obviously, if they did that, they would just choose whoever won the World Series.
Yeah, Dusty Baker.
I really feel like he should win it this year.
So let's give it to him.
Yeah, sure.
So, yeah.
I mean, listen. Rob Thompson's our guy.
And even though, like, every decision backfires in games five and six,
but it's okay.
It's all good.
And it managed to get us another.
Speaking of the camera heater, he just talked to 8-3-3.
It's going to run out.
He's not going to go the rest of the season on a heater
Topper's heater ran out
it just ran out the worst possible time
could not have thought of a worse spot
you know
of all the times to run out of
your fastball stopped working
especially when
Wheeler's fastball didn't stop working
damn it I had to I thought I really thought we were over it buddy can be done. Especially when Wheeler's fastball didn't stop working.
Damn it, I had to.
I really thought we were over it, buddy.
I really... It was too good a line not to. I'm sorry.
I really did.
I really did.
Also, Jose Amorato was done.
But besides that,
besides the fact that Jose Amorato is not the same pitcher
and allowed three home runs in the playoffs,
I'm like uh I'm not over we're not over we don't have to pretend we don't have to pretend
like we're over it we're not over I'm not like I again to the point you made before like I really
do feel like it and I know it'll come back but I really do feel like I'm on like like I'm an
emotional I'm like dulled emotionally
or whatever right now like i feel like i can't i reach such heights and such lows that like
everything in between just kind of is like all right you know eagles money i gave against washington
all right they lost um bummed you know and I think it wasn't like losing the fricking world series.
I think it's because we,
you know,
obviously like we cared so much,
but so did our people too.
And like,
and having them,
having them join us,
you know,
for the journey.
And like,
I kinda,
this is,
I don't mean this to sound like egotistical at all.
Like I really don't,
but it felt like we were like the leaders of a movement
of like like everyone get on our backs and like we'll care we'll carry you to a world series and
and we're gonna do this together and it's just like when you have the the honestly the pressure. When you have the pressure of being a leader
of a fan base that we
had for that month,
month and a half stretch.
Again,
how am I supposed to sit
in the Eagles press box with
mere mortals
when
we just got done
doing what we do? Honestly, there honestly there it is there's how i
explain it for a month and a half we were on top of the world we were on the jumbotron yeah we were
doing podcasts that were doing massive numbers we were on wip after like clinchers we were getting
tweets and long messages,
which were unbelievable,
telling us about how much the Phillies mattered to them.
And it was so...
It was amazing.
And I felt like this personal burden
to help carry this city to a world title.
And then I started thinking about,
especially after game three,
like, oh, my God, they're going to win it.
Like, they're actually going to freaking win the World Series.
And I wasn't mentally ready for the World Series.
I got to be honest.
Like, I was like, this is all too fast.
You know, like, this is so fast, but it's also so fun.
It's also so magical.
And then I started thinking about the float and, like,
how we'd obviously be on it and, like, you know,
partying with the players and stuff.
This has been a hell of a soliloquy
right here and then like you know like i was down in freaking houston for game one and like
everything is just everything is just insane like it was such a high point of my young life
that i it's so hard for me to reach any apex of your life.
Then I found out I was having a boy.
You want to know...
Yes!
Baby boy friends!
You want to know the wrong time...
You want to know the wrong time to figure out
you're having a boy, James? Tell me if you agree
with this. Tell me if you agree that
this is the worst possible time for a guy like me to figure out that you're having a boy james tell me if you agree with this yes tell me if you agree that this is the worst possible time for a guy like me to figuring out to figure out that you're having a
boy and that is like around game five of the world series i remember it was game five you came and
told me i remember it was definitely game five well and and the thing is is that like every day
listening to wip it's like oh my god and, I remember when the world series with my dad and like all of this.
And I'm like,
I want this.
Like,
I want this,
you know,
I want this,
but at the same time,
not here yet.
So,
you know,
next year,
there's more time for that.
There's more time for that.
So I started thinking about like,
Oh,
the future memories and whatever.
Hope he likes,
hope he likes baseball.
I know. What? Yeah. Watching me into like bowling or something. It's like, about like all the future memories and whatever hope he likes hope he likes baseball i know what
yeah watching me into like bowling or something it's like that i just really i really love it
have you ever seen yeah exactly that's that's that's right jack that's exactly what it is
whatever whatever he's into support it foster it culture it's a good thing um and yeah i'm right there i'm right there with everything
you said you know minus the you know incredibly egotistical you know leaders but it was meant
out of an egotistical way it was sort of meant it was it was meant in a positive way i think i know
i know no i'm right there with you
