This is the High Hopes Podcast.
High Hopes.
On the Odyssey app and sports radio 94 WIP.
The crowd was singing High Hopes.
Smiling through a broken nose
Oh, high hopes, high hopes
I feel a little less alone Oh, it is another edition of the High Hopes podcast.
I know there's a Brave series, two or three,
that's all we ever asked for.
I know there's a whole beaning thing to talk about,
but Jack, we're professionals, we do this right tomorrow.
Please come hang out with us.
We're gonna have so much fun.
We're going to see the Red and Phil's play.
We're gonna go see our guy Aiden Miller.
We're gonna do a meet and greet before him.
We're getting there at five, 25, 30, something like that.
Yep, at the hometown tap.
Hometown tap there.
In the stadium. Meet and greet.
Fritz and I are actually throwing out the first pitch.
So you can come and take videos and laugh at us.
And that could be, live forever.
So no pressure there.
Or, or. Or.
It's with the day that I finally wake up
and the arms hit 92.
That's right, yes.
And they say, wow, what was that?
Who's this guy?
Get this guy contract.
So I know you probably think I'm kidding.
I think about being like a like Mike situation
all the time where it's just like, oh, today's the day.
There it is, 94 from the right side with a little bit of cut. It's like the rookie with Dennis Quaid, right? It just like, oh, today's the day. There it is, 94 from the right side,
with a little bit of cut.
It's like the rookie with Dennis Quaid, right?
It's like, yeah, I know.
Dude, the worst story I ever heard as a kid growing up,
for me, was how Billy Wagner broke his right arm.
I know, and then started throwing lefties.
I was like, hold on, mom, I got an idea.
I got an idea.
What if I just broke my arm and then bang,
I got 100 from the left side.
97, 100 from the left side, bang. Could have been me.
So...
You know what?
I'm going to go with that one.
What?
That could have been you.
We don't know that it couldn't be.
Now, the problem is...
Right?
It could have been.
The problem is everything I do with my left hand is...
It's almost like it doesn't exist.
I know, dude.
My left hand is impossible.
It does nothing.
It serves no purpose.
It's so...
My left hand is useless.
And having a left hand... You know, you might have a left hand kid,
you think Walker's definitely left handed, right?
Like having a left hand daughter,
she's so much better with her right hand
than I've ever been with my left hand already,
just because lefties are way more ambidextrous.
They can, they can.
Also, when I brought up J.P. Howell
when talking about Walker,
someone threw a Joe Beimel,
and I was a huge Joe, so my favorite,
my favorite lefty reliever of all time
is always gonna be Pedro Feliciano.
Yeah, so mine's always gonna be Real Cormier.
It'll just always be Real.
May he rest in peace. May he rest.
RIP, but like, I just, I loved it.
He was like, loved the look, loved the delivery,
the seething, the whole thing.
Best job in sports.
Just a loogie, like he's a real true blue loogie.
Best job, I would, dude, I would say Pedro Feliciano
right now on this team.
Yeah, me too.
You kidding me?
Yeah, I'm sure he can get some dudes out.
What's that Javi Lopez up to?
Who ruined our lives.
I still, you said it and I got like little
like cackles raising.
You know, we never bring up Marte from the Yankees in 09.
That's a good point, you're right.
We always bring up Javi Lopez and Pedro Feliciano
and like AJ Minter and these guys.
You're right.
Dude, Marte basically cost him a World Series.
He neutralized Howard and Nutley for an entire series.
We never talk about him.
No.
No.
So tomorrow, when you come to the game tomorrow in Reading,
you're gonna be like, wow, there's Jack and James.
Amazing.
And then.
Maybe he'll be like that.
And then you're gonna see us on the mound
and when you see James, you're gonna say,
don't see it.
Yeah.
And then when I do throw the first pitch,
they're gonna say, today could be the day.
Today could be the day.
So what we're trying to say is, come for history.
Yes.
You know, if I can't really wrap it up better than that.
Also, and I made this point before,
think about it this way too,
forgetting Jack and James of it all,
but I don't know how you could
when it's gonna be Jack's greatest.
Zoe's a big fan of saying best day ever,
like all the time. It's adorable.
It's great. You know, it's a,
oh, I got ice cream today. Best day ever.
It's like, okay, sure.
It actually could be your best day ever tomorrow.
Like, this is on the table, you know?
So that's on the table. Plus, think about it this way.
If Aidan Miller, by the way, friend of the pod, Keith Law,
ninth prospect in all baseball, no big deal.
Like just, he's top 20 everywhere.
I mean, Aidan's legit legit.
Which is pretty, like he has not had an unbelievable start
in the year of the running.
So we're chalking it up to cold weather, obviously.
Obviously.
Little banged up here and there.
So he'll be fine.
You see it if you watch it.
You see the mature approach.
So looking forward to it.
The prospect guys do it and that's what matters.
Yeah, I've always said Keith Law knows ball.
We've always said it.
We've never had any interactions
that were poor with him on the show.
No disagreements, you know, whatever.
He couldn't have been more wrong about Andrew Painter,
but whatever, no big deal.
It was actually the McAbel draft.
Was it the McAbel draft?
Oh yeah.
Yes, that's where the whole Keith Law bit started.
I knew it was one of the two.
And if you remember the Keith Law bit,
we appreciate you so much.
You are real deal.
Thank you for still being here.
In the studio.
Yes, he was.
It was in the studio.
It was.
We were in it, he was not.
He was not, he was on the phone.
But what I'm getting at is that,
like Aidan Miller's a chance,
a chance to be an all time great filling.
Like that is his ceiling, right?
I mean, the best case scenario is he turns
into one of the greats.
Like he could be that great.
You could say you met him at a Redding-Phills game
when he was 21, like 20, not even, he's about to turn 21.
Like, so there's a lot of history here.
It's not just coming to hang out at a minor league game
or whatever, this is your chance to be there
for true Philadelphia sports history.
Way to lay it on thick.
So.
Was that thick?
My big.
Did I go overboard a little bit?
And my big plea to mother nature is please don't ring.
Please, please, please.
Like with all the pleases.
Like capital P.
I got to know.
I can only fit so many things into the schedule.
Yeah, and like having to redo the whole thing.
Yeah, don't want to do that. thing. Don't want to do that.
Don't want to do that.
We're just going to be like sales guys.
Doubleheader on Sunday, no way.
No, don't worry.
Yeah, I can't.
I actually shout out, I have to go see my buddy's baby
on Sunday, baby.
Nice.
So yeah, so Mother Nature, please do not rain.
Let us get a ball game in.
It'll be a good time.
Throwing out a first pitch,
I guess there's fireworks afterward as well.
Again, we got the Wilmington fireworks last year.
This year, it's like fireworks follow us.
It's like when we show up, they do fireworks.
Well, I think minor league ballpark.
So you might as well do fireworks every night.
Yeah, right.
Come on out.
Gets people in the ballpark.
Yeah, whatever it takes.
So looking forward to it, looking forward to it.
Me too.
All right, it's gonna be awesome.
And you can find out the information
for the ticket packages that we have
on both of our Twitters, not just Jax.
My Twitter as well, two days in a row.
I've tweeted it out, no big deal.
It's the only thing I've tweeted two days in a row,
but I've tweeted it out.
All right, let's get into the Phillies and the Braves.
Two or three?
We'll get into the...
No retaliation?
So how do you feel?
All right, because I know, we all know,
you've all listened to this pod.
There's nothing you wanted more than Sanchez or Wheeler
or Strom or someone yesterday to just go for it.
Now Wheeler did hit Nick Allen, like he was not retarded.
He didn't do it.
There's no way, there's no way he's hitting the nine hitter
with no one on base, like in a Thai baseball game, zero, zero.
He's just hitting, he's not hitting the nine hitter.
That doesn't send a message.
And the guy swung.
So like, come on, how do you feel about the whole thing?
Like where are you at with the, like,
cause you are someone who really wanted them to hit,
and not just wanted them,
like you think it's important,
you think it's a part of the game,
you think it's important that they defend Bryce.
How do you feel about them coming out of this series?
Well, I just don't want,
my big thing is I don't want them to be punked.
And I know, I don't think Strider did it on purpose.
I don't either, I really don't.
But it's just like,
it's always been part of the game,
I like it as a part of the game, whatever.
Everyone will be fine.
So, but once it was four nothing yesterday,
six nothing yesterday.
Why not at that point, right?
No, you can't.
You went the other way?
You can't, because you just look like,
you look salty. You look weak.
You look salty.
So I, they lost the opportunity to do it.
It's in the past, whatever.
I just thought it was funny that for two and a half days
it was the biggest topic in the world is,
are there, like, it was so bloodthirsty.
It was-
Old school WIP as it was.
It was hilarious.
It was my favorite two days here in a long time.
I'm not kidding.
100% of the calls to the WIP morning show,
two days ago, said beat him.
100, Jack, a hundred percent.
Even the people who were like equivocating,
they were just like, don't lose the game cause of it.
If you're up A2, do it.
Like no one had a problem with it.
Like I couldn't, I say I was shocked.
I expected it to be more.
Well, cause the discourse has shifted so far.
That's my point.
It's like, I expected it to be more old school here,
but I was not expecting the overwhelming,
like they have to do this.
It was crazy.
I felt like I was watching the Roman,
I know.
The gladiator.
Yeah.
That's what I felt like Ronald Acuna.
They're putting tigers out there to rip people to shreds.
Like, yeah, get him.
I know.
So kill that guy.
Yeah, so I, listen, I was pro hitting someone.
I want, like, I think protecting Harper,
he's your best player. And now he might be out for, he might be out for a couple of games of series. Tell him something last night. Oh, without a doubt, I was pro hitting someone. I want, like, I think protecting Harper, he's your best player, and now he might be out for,
he might be out for a couple games of series.
Thompson last night.
Oh, without a doubt, I think.
The way Topper talked last night,
like, I would be surprised if he plays it all this weekend.
Like, he might, but the way Topper talked,
it was basically like, nah, I don't know.
Still swollen, we'll see.
Yeah, so I just, I was just of the mindset of,
I just don't want these guys, I want these guys to,
I don't want them to be punked.
And again, I don't think it was on purpose,
and I get it, but also they've been hitting a lot recently.
I mean, I know-
Well it just started, yeah.
And Muno got hit, I mean, we'll see how-
Tre got hit.
We'll see how long Marshawn this is
after he got smoked in the foot yesterday.
Totally, I mean, he was limping around.
That was hilarious, by the way.
It so clearly did not hit him, but I appreciated it.
What a game from Marchand.
I'm gonna graze the shoelace a little bit.
I mean, that throw,
we've seen a lot of great catcher throws.
You can't throw a ball from catcher to second base
more perfectly than Marchand throws.
I love watching Marchand throw.
Dude, yeah, I love,
cause it almost,
it's almost surprising how quick he gets it there,
cause when he throws, he kinda has a loopy arm thing almost.
It almost feels like he's extending out.
You know catchers throw more from like the top, right?
It's right by the ear.
He almost looks like he's like an infielder
when he throws because he gets that arm angle,
but it gets there so quick.
And it was literally Scott caught it
with his glove on the leg.
It was perfect.
I know, he's got a hose.
He does.
Shout out to Ozzy Alves for stealing that situation
with the hard line up coming up.
Unbelievable decision. And I think he got like a really good jump on it. He got a great hose. He does. Shout out to Ozzy Alves for stealing that situation with the heart of the lineup coming up. Unbelievable decision.
And I think he got like a really good jump on it.
He got a great jump.
It looked like I was shocked he was out.
Yeah, it was a good day for Marshawn and thank, like I-
He needed it.
I needed it.
I think Marshawn's a good player.
I do.
And-
He's a really solid backup catcher, dad.
And like, I'm now of the mindset of just resigning JT,
whatever, you know, he's obviously not hitting well.
We've been beaten down.
He's down to eighth in the lineup when I was fifth.
Which is where he should be.
He should be eighth in the line.
That's the appropriate place for JT to be.
Sure, until he heats back up.
Oh, yeah, you expecting that?
No.
Well, it's funny, we were just talking about
like big time home runs and I was like,
that dude hitting inside the Parker
in the playoffs at home.
It's such a, he was great that play.
Remember the game one of the World Series,
he has the homer, he has the late double.
You used to be able to count on the guy at the plate.
Well, so real quick on the 22 run,
the funniest part about an inside the park home run
in the playoffs is that I don't think
that's even a top 10 moment of that run.
That was the point, we went through a name in the biggest,
like it was like, oh yeah, the JT inside the park,
it was like a throw in.
I know.
And being there, it was one of the most exciting things
I've ever seen live in my life,
like go, go, yelling, like it was awesome.
Real music and run for a day.
Yeah.
I mean, his home run in game one was way bigger.
Was way bigger, yeah.
Well, and the double was the biggest hit of the game,
won them games.
So, yeah, I mean, father time. But, yeah. Well, and the double was the biggest hit of the game. You know, won them games. So, yeah.
I mean, father time.
But, regardless.
Regardless.
But Marshawn.
He can still play defense and he can still run.
He is fast, like, yeah.
And Marshawn's splits with the starters is heating up.
He's no longer, they're not a disaster
when he's behind the plate.
It's a good day.
I was just stabbing the right direction.
So that's good.
I didn't buy the whole, he's like a horrible game caller.
I always thought he was fine with it.
And it has calmed down the Stubbs meter.
Now, I think Stubbs actually is more important
to the Iron Pigs right now because of Abel,
because of Painter.
Having him up there is more important.
And I'm glad that Marsha had the day yesterday.
So big stuff from that standpoint.
What a great take, by the way.
Stubbs more important than the Lehigh V- Like that is, that's why you're the best. Thank you. That was, I love that standpoint. What a great take by the way stubs more important to that the lead
I've got like that is that's why you're the best. Thank you. That was I love that take. Yes. I he's integral
Right. I wouldn't even thought it that is a really good thing. I like that
God have a veteran president. I really like it. He's they got a young staff
Well, I think I some veterans but with those two when you're trying to have the best triple-a team of all time
I mean they're on pace. I think they to have the best AAA team of all time, I mean.
They're on pace?
Yeah.
I think they might have the best record
in all of baseball right now.
They might.
I think they're like 37 and 15.
Like best winning percentage in the whole sport.
It's great.
So one podcast was on that early.
Honestly, it's one of your great calls.
Is that in the take vault?
Honestly, it's no joke, considering the topic topic itself like it's one of your great calls
Yeah, listen, if I put it in the freaking Hall of Fame, I think yeah. Yeah, that was great
I'm gonna be like a weekend of this season. You're like, yo watching for one game
Steam, I've ever unbelievable
They're striking baseball teams. One of my favorite things you've ever done. They're there. They're a wagon. They're an absolute wagon
They're only getting better too.
Big trade last night for Josh Walker.
Big trade last night for Josh Walker.
That was a weird one.
My antenna went up.
A 30 year old with a six and a half career
major league ERA without much major league experience
at the age of 30, yeah, very strange move.
Well, it was only-
Did they see something in him
or is it just like an arm?
Well, they put him on the 40, man.
So-
They put him on the 40, I didn't realize-
Yeah, he's on the 40.
All right, so explain this to me.
Cause that makes, do they see something in him
where they think he could be like a lefty guy for them?
Like it's really strange, man.
Yeah, well, obviously they, I think they see something.
I-
Of course, they might, yeah, obvious.
They don't put him on the 40, man, for no reason.
But it's so weird. I mean, his reference page is like
disaster. Yeah, it's not much. It's not much. I could fish with stuff in the RA.
Dude, his reference page feels like if you had actually made it to the minor. I know.
My only thought or concern, I guess, is I think Strom's stuff. Josh
Walker, by the way, we didn't say his name.
People might be like, who the hell is he talking about?
Well, the last time I was on the final ad,
I was like, the Phillies have made a trade.
Don't miss that.
You're such a, what a tease.
Don't miss that coming up next.
Did you apologize?
No, they did make a trade.
I didn't lie.
I didn't lie.
And I bet they held the audience through the brawl.
Yeah, I'm sure it did, yeah.
But yeah, so Josh Walker
I gotta be honest the most like generic sound like create a player in MVP baseball Josh Walker
Wait, please a stud wait till you finish like a one Walker got another Walker. I'm just saying
So many walkers, you know so many walkers
But my the fur my my antenna is up because I think strong stuff looks really flat
I do too and the fact why like that the results recently have not been good, and I think he
Maybe it's dead arm. He could be he's pitched a ton last year, and maybe it's catching up to him now
So I just with they have I think one other lefty in Lehigh Valley. It's mostly non nondescript
they don't have another guy in the system that could come up and be a situational lefty.
And like, without Rado obviously being down,
and Banks is the only other lefty,
and besides Strom, they need someone
if Strom, God forbid, goes on the I-L.
Or continues to be ineffective.
So that was my first thought,
is that this might be Strom insurance.
Just take a shot on a guy.
That has, I guess, decent stuff. I have no idea.
I mean, well, let's hope he has decent stuff,
because otherwise, I have no idea why he's a filly right now.
So yeah.
All right.
We'll see.
I did not realize the 40-man roster thing that is.
Oh, yeah.
It makes it far more interesting, that's for sure.
Yeah.
They signed him.
Yeah.
All right.
One more question about the beating thing,
and then we'll get to the series and stuff.
Do you think there are two questions, actually. One, question about the beating thing, then we'll get to the series and stuff. Do you think they're at, oh, two questions actually.
One, do you think there's any chance they hit him in August when they play them again
and kind of carry it over?
No.
The way Thompson talked and the way Thompson said he didn't think it was on purpose and
then he said the clubhouse doesn't think it was on purpose, I think that kind of-
It's important, yeah.
That kind of nipped it in the bud.
Do you think-
I thought there's one opportunity, I thought Wheeler would have done it in the bud. Do you think? I thought there's one opportunity.
I thought Wheeler would have done it.
Of course.
I think we all thought if anyone was gonna,
him or Strom in the first game,
it wasn't the right situation and all that.
No.
But.
Needed to win that.
Yeah.
But last question, obviously you can't know,
but put yourself in Bryce's shoes.
How do you think Bryce feels?
So I think Bryce is,
I think Bryce actually is one of those guys where he didn't do it on purpose.? So I think Bryce is, I think Bryce actually is
one of those guys where he didn't do it on purpose.
I'm mad in the moment, but he doesn't wanna see,
he doesn't wanna see, God forbid,
like a coon, he get hurt again, or Olsen get hurt.
I agree with that.
Or Riley get hurt. He loves the game
and all that stuff, respect for him.
And he's been through getting hit a lot.
And he didn't, honestly, it felt like in the moment,
he clearly was in a ton of pain,
but he didn't look as mad as he just looked like hurt.
You know, like Snell, he looked mad.
Yes.
Like the Snell thing happened,
he was like yelling at him, freaking out.
This one, it was just like, I am in a ton of pain.
Yeah.
You know?
Yeah, and it's unfortunate because the way he swings,
he opens himself up to it.
You know, Sputley would just turn his back into it
and take it and it was never really an issue.
But Bryce, cause he wants to, obviously,
he has to hit home runs and stuff and that's just
the nature of his swing he opens himself up to getting hit like that so yeah I
think he's someone that he I don't know if he believes too much in the
retaliation thing unless it was on purpose and I don't think he thought yeah
so I didn't I really don't think it was no then I know second start of the year
he's still getting you know and people like showing the graph of, there's that one pitch that's way up and in,
and everything else is in the strike zone.
Okay, there's no way,
I don't think he was trying to hit him.
And there's some situations over the week,
or like Sosa got hit on a one-two pitch,
and people go, oh, there it is.
You're not gonna hit on a one-two pitch.
I know, I know.
Well, that's like when people were like,
oh, he hit Nick Allen on purpose.
It's like, he's not hitting Nick Allen to make a message.
Like, forget the situation that it's the nine hitter
in a zero-zero game with the top of the line
coming up next.
Forget even that, which makes it nonsensical.
Like, if Zach Wheeler's sending a message,
he's sending a freaking message,
not hitting the worst hitter.
Like, that's crazy.
Yeah, yeah.
So, it's probably over.
But it was a fun, it was a fun fodder
for a couple days. It was a fun moment, yeah.
And look, I was fine with them not hitting
because I didn't think Strider did it on purpose. If Strider had done it on purpose was fine with them not hitting because I didn't think Schreider did it on purpose.
If Schreider had done it on purpose,
it would change my perspective,
but I really didn't believe he did it on purpose.
I'm fine with them not firing back,
but I do understand and hope
that this isn't something that carries over
if there's another situation where a player gets hit,
you know, and they decide not to go again,
and there are guys in the club
who thought it was on purpose.
You know, it could create something where,
cause it does, to your point you just made,
this feels like topper.
This feels like topper's way.
This is how we play baseball.
We're not, we're not into that stuff.
Like to your initial overall point, and I agree with,
like there are situations in baseball
where you do have to do something.
Even if it's a hit guy,
even if it's just pounding inside the zone
and push guys back or let them know you're gonna come there.
So, pause.
So your face.
So I just hope that there isn't any of this
that carries forward.
Yeah, I just, there's something about
like the camaraderie of that situation.
That's what I mean, yeah.
That I can bring teams together
and like the rivalry aspect of it.
So listen, it was a, I felt like an old school.
I felt like it was back in the nineties.
I got a little bit fired up about the idea
of the Phillies and Braves like meeting at the field
and like CBP getting on their feet as the Cougna's coming.
Oh, come on.
Like again, where no one gets hurt,
I really could go for a brawl.
It's been a long time.
I was thinking about Victorino and Eli Whiteside
of the Giants.
I was thinking about Corota.
What was it, like the nine year anniversary
of the Harper Strickland thing was going around,
or 10 year, whatever it was,
it was all over Twitter yesterday.
It was like, yeah, just go right at him,
and it's a brawl, and it's awesome.
I know, I know.
But hey, games changed. It's true. Games changed. It's all right though. It's all right I know, I know. But hey, games changed.
It's true. Games changed.
It's all right though.
It's all right, they won the series,
that's all that matters.
They won, all right, let's get this.
What a bummer of a game two, by the way.
Oh my God, I know, especially Wheeler and it just, mm.
But the two Wheeler-Sale matchups have been terrible.
Disappointing, such a shame.
Sale was great yesterday.
Sale was really good.
Now that was a spring training type lineup by the Phillies.
I mean.
Oh, joke lineup.
I mean, what are we doing here?
I know that Harper's out, but I mean, what are we doing here?
That was a big, eh, we got game one.
We're all right.
Yeah, we got it.
Do you think Topper chuckled a little bit
when he put JT in the bottom of him?
This'll show.
It was a bone in the three hole.
Oh, short for batting two.
Love it. Tell you what, that lineup without Bryce in it, not great.
It's noticeable when Bryce is out.
Yeah, it's like, wow, you really are missing something there.
You feel it.
You feel it when he's not in there.
So what a garbage lineup in game two, but game one,
thankfully they won.
Now, shots of the Fills, they out to the Phils, you know,
they got it to four o'clock, which means
wasn't a long Fritz and Ike show yesterday.
Oh yeah, good, good, good.
Oh man, you did not want to see my face
when Straum allowed that game to be tied.
Oh, I'll bet.
I don't need to see it, I know it.
I know exactly what you look like, yeah.
That's like not bad, not bad.
We could extend this game a little bit.
Oh, buddy.
Get us to 410.
Get us to 410.
First breaks not to 523.
I almost texted Galco when they announced the one o'clock
game and just been like, you lucky dog.
Nothing better than the midday show,
half show out of nowhere.
Oh, man.
It's the best, it's the best.
So yeah, game one, you know, the Sanchez thing.
So I was gonna ask you about it.
So I've been pondering this idea for a little bit.
So Destiny tweeted out that five out of his last six starts,
he has not gone over 90 pitches,
which I think is interesting.
And my first question is, are they managing his workload
or is it game situation? Now what's, are they managing his workload or is it game situation?
Now what's interesting about the managing his workload
is that every other starter's pitching.
Well, we talked about this last pod.
That was one of your concerns,
the idea of maybe wearing guys down a little bit
because they don't have the bullpen guys
they trust to go to.
But with Sanchez, they're not really doing that.
And, you know, my thought is, okay,
so they obviously need
a lefty out of the bullpen.
Chris Sanchez.
Oh, he did, I mean, he has done it in his career before,
whereas other guys other than Ranger haven't.
He's already under contract,
so you don't have to worry about a Ranger contract situation.
Chris Sanchez is gonna be here.
Painter is knocking on the doorstep.
Abel could come up tomorrow and be in the starting rotation.
So if they need a starter, they'd be fine.
If they're-
This is galaxy rain, but I get it.
If they're already limiting,
if they're worried about workload concerns
with Chris Sanchez, Strom, we'll see.
He's obviously been super shaky.
If they need a left-in, I'm not saying doing it now.
You're talking close to the end of the season. Close to the end of the season. Transition. With, if there is a left hand, I'm not saying doing it now. You're talking closer to the end of the season.
Closer to the end of the season.
Transition.
With if there is a plethora of starters
and everyone's healthy and Rangers pitching well.
Well that's okay, and Nola doesn't stink and all that.
So there's a lot of factors in this.
But with Sanchez already on their contract,
already throwing a ton of pitches last year,
maybe they're wanting to manage him a little bit here.
Lazaro's been fantastic, so you can't take him
out of the rotation.
And also he's never done it too.
Not that that's the be all end all,
but it is, you would prefer to have someone
who's pitch out of the bullpen,
pitch out of the bullpen as opposed to not.
And just imagine Sanchez with like 98
with that change up and a slider.
I mean, yeah, I mean,
his stuff plays out of the bullpen like phenomenal.
Like come in, max stuff for an inning or two.
He could be awesome at our bullpen.
And in watching-
But it's also like, you know.
He's your third best starter.
Yeah, exactly.
So it's a total risk.
And last year was your second best and Lizardo, you know.
As long as he can keep it up and not get hurt.
Yeah, exactly, agree.
And the one thing in watching Sanchez this year is,
I just think he's been fighting himself way more.
It hasn't been as crisp.
You know, his ERA is like 3.1, which is really good, but I feel like it hasn't
been as clean as last year.
I feel like he struggled early a lot too.
I don't know why, but it feels like he always gets into trouble early in games.
And then kind of settles more.
The first two innings, shaky.
Then he's usually really good in the middle.
Yes.
And then like there's that sixth where it just gets a little bit shaky.
You're right.
Has he pitched seven innings in a game maybe once?
He has not really gone deep in the games this year.
He's won a hundred and some pitches
one time during this stretch.
But again, five of his last six starts
have been under 90 pitches.
So there may be a manage of workload there.
So we're all trying to find solutions
to how they can have another lefty in the bullpen,
especially with the way Strom's pitching.
And that tweet from Destin really did get me thinking
of like, what about the idea of putting Sanchez in the pen?
Because Sanchez in the pen,
I just think that that could be a weapon
if they wanted to do it.
Like Noel in the bullpen, not a weapon.
Range in the bullpen, I know in the past he's been fine,
but I never think like that's a weapon.
Yeah, he doesn't have the same stuff that Sanchez does.
He just doesn't.
Sanchez in the bullpen could be a weapon.
Really, Jack, that's a fascinating.

By the way, you've been really on point with getting out in front of stuff lately.
I mean, you bring up Reese Hoskins on the pod,
all of a sudden everyone on the station's talking about it.
It's a thing.
Like you've been getting out in front of it,
you know, with the Iron Pigs thing way back.
Yep, yep, who could forget?
Who could forget?
McGables in the Bounce Back year.
Seriously though, like you're on a bit of a heater, Fritz.
That's all I think about. I loveitz. That's all I think about.
I love it.
That's all I think about.
Speaking of Reese.
Yes.
Dude, I've been thinking so much about Reese.
Me too.
He was my category for beat the hammer.
I did Reese Hoskins trivia today.
That's how much he's on my mind.
Dan, they're getting a little teary eyed.
I know, did you see the picture that Jamie Hoskins put up?
It's of their kid with his hand up against the airplane window
as they're landing or like flying right over Philly.
And it just says Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
It's just like, oh my God, like too much, too much.
You're doing too much.
I will watch every single,
do you know Linger by Royal Otis?
It's the Cranberries original song.
So I know the Cranberries.
You have to let it linger.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Of course. But Royal Otis today. I didn't know there was a cover, but sure. So I know that I know the cranberries you have to let it linger
There was a cover but sure well It's like a big thing on on re like Instagram reels and like tick tock and all that stuff is always like highlight videos
Like it's sad ways. Mm-hmm. I'll watch it. I need is I'll watch as many resauce
linger like height videos as you want I was watching the the the postgame press conference after
as he wants. I was watching the post-game press conference after one of the games in 22 where he's like, what did Bryce say? We ain't losing. And like, oh dude, Bryce said
we should do that again tomorrow. And oh, I said, bring him home. Bring him home, dude.
I need him. I need Reese. It's so funny. He's like I love Reese I was never the biggest Reese guy like as a player
But he's a Philly dude, like he is a he's a
Tried and true Philly the Braves need to start the Brewers need to stop winning games fall out of it
You don't want to pay him next year. Anyway, I know that franchise without a doubt
Yeah
Put him at first base who I talk to people out there.
His defense is not as bad as when he got there.
Can I just real quick?
I talk to people.
Don't worry about it.
You're doing the work.
You know? I am.
You're really doing the work and I appreciate that.
I know. That's good.
I said start losing.
Your Brewer's sources out there.
Well. Your people.
He's not as bad.
I like the idea of Jack on Twitter
just responding to brewers fans, how's Reese's defense been?
And they would say, hey, he's a stud over there.
He's like a cat.
He's like a cat at first base.
Just cold calling people in Milwaukee, hey,
hey, you brewers fan, hey, how's Reese looking?
Yeah.
And they said, hey, he's a cat.
So I know he's a butcher.
Like Andres Golarag out there, the big cat.
I know the narrative is he's a butcher.
If you look at the stats,
he's actually a better defensive first baseman than Bryce.
No.
So take that.
We gotta do something about this.
It is, OAA, out above average.
Okay, so I know which defense is that not to trust.
OAA.
So, yeah, I know you're a huge fan.
You could make up acronyms on this show
and get away with it.
I know.
I know.
In your head, you're like, I just did.
There's no way.
Dude, what was the one I saw the other day?
I think it was Process Plus, which I don't know.
There's a new one every day. Is that to make Sixers fans angry? No, I think it was the, I don't know. There's a new one every day.
Is that to make Sixers fans angry?
No, I think it was the, I had no idea.
There's a new stat every single day
that drives me up a wall.
It's so annoying.
Just watch the game.
Just watch the game.
Yes, guess what?
Home runs, runs, stolen bases.
These are stats.
Yeah, now it does help with other teams. No, it does. I like analytics.
I'm joking.
We just go too far with the pop.
Let the teams use these things.
We don't need to popularize every single one for all of us.
No one knows what you're talking about.
Especially the horizontal and vertical break.
No one knows what that means.
I know.
You're watching the game through binoculars.
I know.
You can't tell what the horizontal and vertical break is.
I know.
We've talked about this before, but one of my favorite things about being in a baseball
is the fact that you're playing in a baseball game.
You're playing in a baseball game.
You're playing in a baseball game.
You're playing in a baseball game. You're playing in a baseball game. You're playing in a baseball game. You're playing in a baseball game. You're playing in game through your binoculars on the 400 level. I know, I know. Can't tell what the horizontal and vertical break is.
I know.
Well, that's one of my favorite,
we've talked about this before,
but one of my favorite things about being in a baseball game,
any game, anytime, anywhere,
is that 98% of the people in the stands,
unless you're behind home plate, essentially,
like you have no idea if it's a ball or a strike,
and be, oh, horrible call, how could you call?
It's like five, we get it where we stand for the playoff games,
we have that TV kind of like right in front,
and it happens 20 times a game,
where it's like pitch, the battle reacts their way,
oh, and then we look at the pitch,
and it's like two feet outside.
Not even close, not even close, it's not even close.
So listen, plays first base, you be harping the outfield,
all of a sudden, Max Kepler, by the way, how about this?
How about this for a little parallel?
Oh wait, Jeff Jenkins.
Oh, oh!
Not bad.
That's pretty damn good, actually.
Same kind of swing.
Yeah, Jeff Jenkins, a better player than Kepler
over his career before getting here,
but still was way cocked.
And was a total hedge on Jason Worse in 2007.
Totally.
But that's all right.
Didn't need it.
Turned out Jason Worse won the best playoff players
of all time.
Yeah, turns out.
Turns out.
And like, ah, the pop.
By the way, I love a good Fritz.
Ah!
Pop when he gets back here.
They're not.
They'll be massive.
They're not losing the world.
They're going to win the World Series.
They trade for a race. Well, you predicted... They're not losing the world. They're gonna win the World Series if they trade for Reese.
Well, you predicted it at the beginning of the season.
Yep. Did not think I'd be sitting here on May 30th.
I was saying trade for...
Wanting Reese Hoskins back on this team.
But here we are.
I'm fully with you.
Honestly, I have no...
like, no holdbacks on this.
Like, obviously Bryce is a much better first baseman.
That's fine.
I'm fully in on this.
They need a guy, and it's exactly what they need.
They need a right-handed bat who can control the strike zone
and hit the ball at the ballpark.
It's exactly what they need.
And so what makes, I think him,
even with the deficiencies at first base,
even with like, it might cost him a run here or there.
But the overall, like how much better him in the lineup would make the Phillies
There's gonna be a moment where he where he's gonna butcher some play in the playoffs. We know that
Yeah, let's just hope it's not in game five of the World Series
You know, that's the key the overall team would be much better with a brief in it
And there's there's not many first baseman all in
They're gonna be available out there that could help this team. He's changed his approach this year
He's got a higher batting average. Like I think he's I think it's made his whole
He doesn't do the big leg kick anymore. Like I he he might be a different player
He might be a different player and cat. Ah
Just be so fun. it'd be so fun.
It'd be so fun.
It would be so fun.
And I know...
Like, really, it'd be so,
like, think about the moment it hits.
Like, if the Jeff Passon tweet or whatever,
Phillies are trading, you know,
said minor leaguer for Reese Hoskins,
and you'd be sad about whoever the minor leaguer is
for half a second.
Yeah.
But like, think about how hard that would hit.
Like, we'd be celebrating on WIP.
And people... It's so much fun.
And people, all I've heard is,
oh, this is a Flyers thing to do.
Au contraire, mon frère.
I mean, anyone that says it's the Flyers move,
let me ask you this.
Did you hate when the Eagles brought back
Hugh Douglas in 04?
How about Jeremiah Trotter?
Did you hate when they brought back Trot?
Did you hate when they did that?
Trot was my first thought.
When you started doing this thing, Trot was my very first thought. Trot, Hugh, they came back Trot? Did you hate when they did that? Trot was my first thought. When you started doing this thing,
Trot was my very first thought.
Trot, Hugh, they came back fine.
Trot was really good when he came back too.
Trot was great.
Yeah, he was.
Less good.
He was less good, but Hugh was great before.
Like, it's okay.
He's playing well.
Let him play first base.
And again, he fits.
He fits.
I know.
Like, just lineup wise,
he is a perfect compliment
to what they have right now.
He's the perfect, like trading essentially,
and also makes the bench so much better
putting Kepler on the bench.
But essentially taking Kepler out of the lineup
and putting Reese Hoskins in the lineup
completely changes the complexion of the lineup.
It's a better hitter who does what Kepler's supposed to do
and always right handed what you desperately need.
It's so perfect.
I know.
I really love it.
The hoity-toity, the hoity-toity, pinkies up,
Reese Hoskins haters out there like Tom Kelly.
They make me so mad.
You're not thinking second level.
You're not walking with me, you know?
So, and, Brewers have a bunch of, well, not a bunch,
but they have like interesting lefties
that they want to get real crazy.
I like what you're doing here.
It was good, let's do a little package action.
Let's get Jared Konig, that'd be awesome.
There you go.
You know I love DL Hall.
You do, you have loved DL Hall for a while.
We thought he was gonna be a breakout.
He might be back.
Yeah, okay.
From the people I talked to out there.
Okay, good.
Is Ashby still there?
Yes.
He had stuff.
He's a starter, I know.
No, no, no, they paid him.
They paid him real money. Oh, I didn't realize. I know. No, no, no. They paid him. They paid him real money.
Oh, I didn't realize. Whoopsie.
Yeah, Aaron Ashby. Big old swing and a miss.
But yeah, that was a swing and a miss. But he's still, as a reliever, I could see Ashby still doing something.
Yeah, yeah. He's got stuff. He's got stuff.
He's got stuff. So, yeah. The Reese. Come on, man. Come on, man.
The slide by Calvin Harris comes on.
This is our new thing. This is our new thing.
This is our new thing.
All right, let's,
we haven't really talked too much about this series.
Not a ton to really get into from this series.
Real quick before we do,
shout out to the Miller Lite Bar of the Week.
Love the name of this place.
Shout out to Jimmy's Time Out.
Jimmy's Time Out in Northeast Philadelphia
where you can watch all Phillies games
with $3 Miller Lite drafts.
That's a great deal.
Bottle and aluminum special. that's a great deal.
Go to jimmystimeout.com.
All right, the-
Many people have said you need to be in Time Out.
Yeah, no, shh.
That was gross there.
Yep.
Put a little marker there.
Yeah, no, yep.
No believe.
Yep, yep, yeah.
Like calm down.
Yeah.
And well that's, and you're parents, you get this.
And it, like the best thing in life is being a parent,
my opinion, and seeing your child like do things
that you do, act like you, all that.
She looks like me, oh my God, what a weird, cool thing
as a human to have this experience.
But, but when she is intense, let's say,
and I look at it, I'm like, oh, that's me, like unadulterated,
like full on me.
Little introspection sometimes.
Step back and say, you know,
maybe I'm a little much sometimes.
So I'm glad that you brought that up.
I'm sure you are.
Not about, it's actually not about,
Can't wait to see where this goes.
Not about you being a lot, I would never say that.
But. I would never say that
but
So so when I went to the when I went to the Phillies game with a VIP day had to go be by myself
yeah, yeah, we talked so many bad takes and
and so the funny part about what's currently going on in my house with Walker is like we walk around town
and there's still like eagle stuff up
and when he sees the eagle's logo,
he starts doing ee.
Yes.
Love it with all my heart, of course, who wouldn't?
But I was like, all right, we gotta nip this in the bud.
You know, we have to, I gotta get the pendulum swinging.
Swinging the other way.
Swinging back in my favor. So I got him a little fanatic little little stuff and I think that and
and of course, he loves it whatever and then and then
the fanatic was nice enough to to send Walker a signed like to Walker number one Philly's fans signed but
best guy love him and
The fanatic the The fanatic.
The real fanatic, yes, yes, yes.
And his best friend.
And his best friend.
They are awesome people.
Great people.
They are people and creature, I guess.
But Jill and I were in our kitchen,
Walker's in the other room, whatever,
the game was still on,
and I guess the fanatic was shown on the screen,
and he ran into our, ran to the kitchen,
and was like, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's.
He was on the screen.
Your heart melted.
It was like, ah, that's what it's about.
That's a core memory.
There you go.
That's a core memory.
I love it.
When you, they say when you pass,
you get seven minutes of highlights throughout your life.
Really?
That's what they say.
They say.
I've never died before.
I've never died before.
I love the people that like know what happens when you die.
Here, let me tell you what happens when you die
Yeah, so they I saw an Instagram
That when you die there's there's seven minutes of highlights, okay, I hope it's all to linger by
Royal Otis
That's my
That's how it's just these memories. Well, it's perfect for a for a death highlight tape
So I wanted that hopefully the memory in there
Is Walker running into the kitchen
It's the linger this this what happens at the eighth minute just that it's just gone. It's just
Give seven minutes to pull yourself out of it if you die?
Lot of questions, people are talking.
Really good man.
Thank you, thank you.
Thank you, honestly thank you so much.
Oh, the Phillies.
No one better, no one better.
I actually would be curious how many are gonna be
Phillies related versus family related.
I know, I would too.
Like is that, is the Hoskins Bat spike bedlam at the bank? I would be curious how many are going to be Felix related versus family related? I know, I would too. What's the percentage break down?
Is the Austin's Bat spike bedlam at the bank?
Lidge dropping to his knees?
Which is above 50% is the question.
I know, no I know.
Like how much is appropriate?
Like what highlights are in your seven minute
highlight tape when you die?
That's an all time question right there.
215?
Yeah, what are your death highlights? Not even dead bed death like actual death. Yeah, so it stares lid
Bedlam, you know the vet a verse that read I mean, yeah lidge in the final out obviously
That of us are heads a big one. Yeah, what about just meeting the vet? Yeah. Well, you know, it's fine
That's fine. No, then I was said the no-hater against the red
That's what we're gonna eventually get this I almost said the no-hater against the Reds.
That's what we're gonna eventually get this to,
is he threw a no-hater.
Do you remember when Venator threw a no-hater against the Reds?
We're here, what do you say?
We're here and we're bleeping doing great.
What a player.
What a player.
He had a really high sense of himself.
Dude, he thought he was the best player.
Let me figure it out.
You've got kindred spirits.
Yeah, yeah.
All right, so the Phills. You got anything on the
Fills? May as well just take back. We're 40. We're 40
minutes in at this point. I'm sure you'll hit the series.
Let's take back. Was disappointing that Wheeler's
scoreless streak blew up immediately. I know. Couldn't
have gone away quicker. It was like, oh, it's gonna go by way
a lot. Yep. Yeah. Six runs. Six runs. Six runs very fast and
uh. It does feel like he's either like
two runs or less, one run or less, or like seven. Well, well, no, like he, I'm joking. No, I know.
I feel like he has these blow up games. No, it's just so funny. Like he'll be, he'll go for seven
scoreless or seven, seven straight games of his dominance. And then bang, there's the stinker.
It feels like it happens against the Braves. It wasn't this earlier this season, wasn't it?
It was against the Braves. But what's as earlier this season, wasn't that? It was against the Braves.
Yeah, I thought so.
But what's so funny is that,
even before the game yesterday,
he had a 2.83 career in the RA against the Braves.
And the playoffs was great against him and all that.
And I think Franski had the stat that he's in 17,
so 17 starts against the Braves as a Philly,
in 13 of them, he had gone seven plus innings,
and all of a sudden this year, he can't beat him.
He can't beat him.
He was at like seven runs last time or something.
Yeah. Yeah, not great.
Might have cost himself to side young yesterday.
I know, against the guy, yeah.
Yeah.
So, by the way, 20 foul balls against Wheeler yesterday.
If you ever want to beat Zach Wheeler,
just foul out a ton of pitchers.
No, you're right, you're right.
20's a lot.
20 is a lot.
So we are a podcast that,
obviously by what you can tell
with the Reese Hoskins conversation,
part of the ethos of this pod is what's old is new again.
That's true.
Knowing better at-
Like me.
Sure.
Yeah, like what's old is new again.
Bringing it all back, right into a, you know,
and eventually.
Age does play a big, you know, time, age,
a big part of this pod.
Yes, and it also takes age.
Yes.
And they may come back and be ready
to fully be re-emerged, or re-brought out.
Like realized, actually realized.
Yeah.
So, if you remember before before last season
The number one bullpen guy that I wanted talked about every single podcast felt like Robert Stevens Robert Stevens
Yeah, I remember these things everyone does a good pull right there. Come on, Robert Stevenson went to the angels
Went to the angels got hurt all last year. I was done
He's back. Oh
all last year was done.
He's back. Oh!
He's got two years, $22 million left on that contract.
His first outing was like an inning,
maybe an inning or two, whatever.
He generated, he faced six batters
and had 12 whips, I believe.
His slider, cutter thing, whatever,
was over 3,000 RPMs.
That's an analytic lick I like.
He was disgusting. He000 RPMs. That's an analytic I like. He was disgusting.
He still has it.
Robert Stevenson at the trade deadline
at a discount value because the angels think,
give me Robert Stevenson.
I love it.
I'm in.
You know I always supported your pick a reliever
and go with it thing.
Disgusting.
You've been very good in the past at nailing these things.
They made Sirocco a starter.
That's what threw off the Sirocco bit.
Yeah, you can't control that.
That's not your fault.
It was always a reliever with him.
Next in the take back,
is I don't know what John Marosi is doing,
and I don't know what he's trying to get at,
or really, I don't know what he's trying to do.
Has he ever recovered since the Show 8 Toronto thing?
That's the real question.
No.
So out of nowhere, out of nowhere,
he tweets at 9.37 this morning,
Nick Castellanos told me yesterday
regarding Philly's GM Preston Mattingly.
Why are you digging around about Preston Mattingly?
He's our guy.
Don't try to start creating buzz.
He should be a GM elsewhere.
Don't like this one bit.
So Castellanos said he'll be a GM elsewhere. Don't like this one bit. So Cassiano said, he'll be a president
of baseball operations one day.
And Morosi asked Cassiano if he can quote him on that.
Cassiano said, yeah, that's like saying two plus two is four.
So while I appreciate the buzz about Preston Mattingly,
also.
Rain is down.
Calm down.
Yeah, it's raining down.
That's our future.
We know, we get it, we know.
Hands off.
Preston's the man.
Like yeah, future president of Ace Bob,
amazing, super talented guy, future is super bright.
We know.
Shut up.
Shut up.
Special statement.
Special statement.
To John Marosi.
Shut up.
What are you poking around at?
Shut up.
Don't put that on your list of the-
It's such a good question,
because he's like, why is he even asking? Are you writing a story about Preston Manningley? Don't! All up. Don't put that on your list of videos. It's such a good question, because why is he even asking?
Are you writing a story about Preston Mattingly?
Don't!
All right?
Don't even think about it.
Yeah.
Don't even think about it.
So don't put that out there.
This is the important stuff, and I appreciate you getting to it,
because we've got to really control these things before they
get out of hand.
Speaking of things that we need to control
before they get out of hand, and speaking
of being early on things, I mean, Ar of our top 40 by Jack another I forgot in all
You on the magnet and you know what when it's deserved it's deserved that's another one you nailed that you run I know
nasty 40
Crawford 42 surprise tight wasn't anywhere up there,
but that's all right.
That's all right.
If I follow this pattern,
next rankings he'll be like 30 or whatever.
What a win, what a win.
Also Untouchable, just wanna put that out there.
Arun, Tait, Miller, Painter, Untouchable,
will have a conversation about Crawford,
would have conversations about Abel,
would have conversations about Rincones
But those four don't even think I will say when you sent me that yesterday that Keith law
They're just the top four guys at at painter at five Miller at nine Arun at 40 and Crawford at 42 like I
Don't ever remember having top four top 42 prospects
Yeah, I mean I'm trying to think of even when it would be.
Like Dom Brown was obviously.
Dom Brown was number one or two or right up there.
I think it was two maybe, whatever.
Well, he was, I thought he was,
he was third behind Tron Harper.
Okay, so he was up there is the point.
He was one of, but I don't ever remember having,
especially having two top 10 guys
and four top 42 guys at the same time on any list.
Like maybe it's happened, but I don't,
I certainly don't remember with having two top 10 guys
and having that many in the top.
Like that's, that's fricking amazing, man.
Talk about our guy, Brian Barber,
Mattingly, the whole crew.
Like this is, this is really exciting.
Yeah, well, it's a way you stay,
it's a way you keep your window open.
Yeah.
And that's, that's what they're trying to,
find the fine line between winning now and also making sure that they're trying to Find the fine line between
Winning now and also making sure that they're set up in the future like that's that's it's a
If you can pop a World Series in there, that'd be fantastic. We would really appreciate that'd be great
But I also do I also do value having a competitive baseball team
Well, we've we've gone through long stretches of time without it
We know how it's very hard to it's very hard to imagine going through that again,
given where we've been.
I was sitting there yesterday when they beat the Braves
in game one.
It was like, we have just a damn good baseball team.
I mean, they have the best record in baseball
again for the second straight year
at this point in the season.
And they're just good.
There's not super stressed stuff. There's some concerns. Bullpen's a concern. at this point in the season, and they're just good.
There's not super stressed stuff, there's some concerns.
Bullpen's a concern, by the way, Kirk O'Ran's been great.
I know he allowed the Inheritor run yesterday.
Dude, Okunya is...
Unbelievable.
He's just nasty.
He's so good, and I was listening to Fransky,
I think it was game one, but Okunya, 27 years old,
and it's just like, what? How?
Like he's, like, he just-
I remember his first Dominican League or like Florida State League where the ball was just,
it's different off his bat.
Yeah, it's different off his bat. It explodes and he's got that like kind of loopy big swing
and it just, it explodes off his back. Every ball is roped.
Like it's just, he's, ah, he is so good.
And by the way, I, so I was driving home,
listening to the game, and I actually felt like an idiot
because I was like, is Chris Sayle a Hall of Famer?
And then in the same game, he passed 2,500 strikeouts,
he's an eight time All-Star.
He's won a World Series.
Siyang winner.
And he won a Siyang.
He's a Locke Hall of Famer.
And he's been a top three in Siyang, I think,
like three times or something like that.
Yeah, he's an All-Famer.
He's a Locke Hall of Famer.
No, but I don't think that's crazy.
Like, when you first ask it, my instinct was yes.
But I wouldn't have been like, oh, Locke, yeah.
When you say it, when you're like,
I feel like an idiot because it's Chris Siyang,
All-Famer, I'm like, yeah, probably.
But it wasn't like a definitive. He definitely is. Kershaw, Scherzer, Verlandke, yeah. When you say it, when you're like, I feel like an idiot, because it's Chris Selle, I'll say, yeah, probably, but it wasn't like a definitive, he definitely is.
Kershaw, Scherzer, Verlander, Sale.
Yeah, the first three are like first ballot, 98%,
like Locke in, like they are as Locke-y as it gets.
I agree, I think Sale will get in.
I think he's a step below those three guys.
Yeah, but dude, it's crazy,
because in, what was it, 20,
I think 21 he made nine starts.
22 he made two starts.
Yeah.
Or maybe 23 he made two starts and missed
the entire season in there.
He would have 3,000 strikeouts with his eyes closed.
You know?
So he's still.
Which is crazy, because you know, 3,000 strikeouts,
it's not something we're going to see very often anymore.
No, no, no.
It's a real bummer.
Yeah, was CC I think the last one you get to see?
Well, Verlander got there.
Oh yeah, Verlander got there.
And Scherzer.
Yeah, yeah, Scherzer and Verlander.
But I was thinking prior to the guys still playing.
I meant to say something, that was my bad.
But yeah, it was CC prior to them.
Yeah, I don't.
And prior to that, it was a while, yeah.
I miss it.
I miss the 300 game winner and that 3,000 strike.
Well yeah, the 300 game winner is. We're000 drag up. Well yeah, 300 game winner is.
We're never seeing that.
So gone.
200's gonna be the new.
Did you see Jolly with his,
having fun on Twitter?
No.
This is such a Jolly question to ask.
I got it, but such a Jolly question.
Who has the most wins?
Who never won a Cy Young Award?
The most wins to never have a Cy Young Award?
I have no idea.
Think about it.
Bit of a trick question.
Cy Young?
Yeah.
Okay.
Jolly thought.
Very cute.
Right?
It's like jolly.
It was such a jolly,
I was like, this is such a jolly question.
This will teach him.
This will get him.
You're an idiot.
You don't know him.
It's a hot take.
It's a hot take.
It's a really good job. Thank you. It's a little off of myself. Yeah, you don't know that. It's a hot take, it's a hot take. It's a really good take.
Thank you.
It's a little off of myself.
Yeah, I know, I know.
What do you mean?
Mine is just what I'm yelling though.
Jolly's is the entire time.
Oh, always yelling, always yelling.
So listen, always got take two or three.
And no, while we want Reese back,
no ovations for home runs this time.
No, no, no, no, no.
That was a one time thing, it's over like enough, but you have to take two or three.
Just to the point two you were making,
you know, let's knock the birds down a peg here.
Yeah.
You know, if they're winning games,
they're not gonna trade Reese Hosses.
Exactly, exactly.
That's the most important thing.
That's the most important thing.
Keep the bit alive.
That's all we care about.
We need it.
We got, you know, what, two months
that we can keep this going.
Exactly, exactly.
See everyone in Reading tomorrow.
See everyone in Reading.
Coming out, it's gonna be awesome.
We had so much fun last year at Movington.
It's gonna be awesome this time.
And beat the Brewers.
Beat Reese.
Big take.
Big take.
Jack, you got the takes under control.
Big takes.
All right, until then, these friends themselves.
