Oh, high hopes, high hopes.
I feel a little less alone. Yoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Oh, it is another edition of the High Oaks podcast
sponsored by Miller Lite.
Tastes like Miller, I screwed it up already, Jack.
Look at this, we're pure off.
You're flustered.
You're flustered.
Sponsored by Miller Lite, official sponsor
of the Philadelphia Phillies,
partner of the Philadelphia Phillies.
Yes.
There you go. Tastes like Miller time, Philadelphia. Celebrators. It's like, you don't know how big the day this is.
I gave a good yo.
That was definitely not how I'm feeling about the Phillies.
Yo, that was perfect off season.
Yeah.
Well, there's nothing to feel about the Phillies.
I know.
Well, I'll tell you, can I just tell you after doing all the perfect off season,
then I'm sure this will be one of many that we get from you because you can't help yourself.
And you.
Well, I figured out instead of just doing it all in one show, I figured I should spread out all of my.
It's going to be like six and one.
Would be a long off.
Yeah.
I will say, because we never lie to that.
It's would never eat those to the show.
It made me depressed.
Yeah, I know.
I can honestly like it was not the fun exercise.
No, it was the wow. This team could look really similar next year to what it looked like this.
Well, I got to a point where it was I was saying to myself, well, if I make that trade,
I kind of I feel like I'm kind of thin. Am I really making the team?
Yeah, yeah, I got much better. I was I had a long, long conversation myself about Ed Mundo.
So as to being the starting third base, that's an issue. I know. No, it's a bad Edmundo shows up being the starting third
baseman. That's an issue. I know. It's a bad spot. It's not where you want to be.
That's the hundred percent. And I have gotten to the point now where every prospect's
untouchable. Like I just, they all mean so much to me. I'm training one of them. Just,
you know, all of them. I'm training one of them. One of the heaviest hitters. Just one.
All right. All right. Well, we'll get into it. Can I give like one of them, one of the heaviest hitters. All right. All right.
Well, we'll get into it.
Can I give like one World Series thought before?
Sure.
Is it?
Is it?
If that happened in Philadelphia, we would never hear the end of it.
Oh yeah.
I mean, unbelievable.
That was insane.
Oh yeah.
Like, I can, like for those who don't know, if you're not watching World Series, which
I don't blame you again, if you're a Filly's driver, last night, two Yankees fans, Mookie
Betts catches a ball over the railing in right field.
And the Yankees fans sitting there literally grab his hand
in his glove and rip the ball like it was like
like like speeches about it, like those two dudes should never be allowed
in a baseball stadium ever again, like any stadium anywhere in the world.
Like that was so on like not okay to happen in a baseball game.
Like it was crazy.
Well, I think that they were interviewed because of course you have to interview.
Oh, God, I get them up.
They were DN up their spot.
They said, what are we doing?
It is the world's areas.
It's Mookie.
That's it was embarrassed.
It was, it was really bad.
And listen, Steve Barman went silent, hiding for the rest of his life. He still didn't like
they did that. They won the World Series and the Cubs were
like, Hey, it's all good. We won now you want to come out and
he's like, No, thank you.
I see you watch. Yeah, I do. Right. Who knows though, like,
his whole life was ruined. It's crazy.
I think sports fans. I can't tell things a little too far.
Well, that's, that's, that's a given. I don't know. It's,
it's hard for me to put it in a context cause I'm living through it now,
but it seems like sports fans back in the day,
it was really life or death. I mean, oh yeah.
Bartman play the Buckner play.
You know what else the, and this isn't a play, but like, do you remember,
this is something we don't talk about enough. Do you remember at the Roy The and this isn't a play, but like, do you remember this is something
we don't talk about enough.
Do you remember at the Royals White Sox game where the fans came out
like attack the first base coach guy?
Do you remember that?
No, but like that happened.
The guy got attacked on the field.
Oh, and if you want to go back to what was it?
Ten, ten cent beer night.
That's an all time.
Evelyn, but I feel as if now there's obviously been bad things
that still happen at sports sporting events, but there's not the
people enter into a dark depression or you know sports are still obviously really important in society just
Used to mean more
Where where is the real like devastation here like Like what I feel like I still got it.
Why do two? I mean, I did it.
This is on purpose. Right.
You are the right. I saw it.
And I was listening.
Yeah, I I didn't notice it first.
Thank you. And then it really had the intended because it because it really hit me
like a punch in the jaw right there.
It's like, what do we do?
Because when they lose, like I make sure I I'm like Sirianni watching the tape. I dragged myself
through it. Did you hear that? He watches the, the, the broadcast copy too. Really? It was actually
really interesting. He talks about, they can do closeups and stuff. The, um, like footwork and
stuff that you can't see. He's like, it might be only like 20 or 30 plays, but he's like, it's
valuable. I was like, look at Nicky Nick. He's up. Having a moment. What do you say that?
Don't drink the perfume.
Yeah, don't drink.
He was dropping some meth there, too.
Listen, man, it's intense sport.
Yeah, intense sport.
But yeah, I think sports fans have kind of changed.
But I think that actually has a lot to do with gambling and fantasy.
Yeah, you're right.
So actually, I actually wrote a paper on this in grad school.
It was about fantasy. You wrote about I thought your a paper on this in grad school. It was about fantasy.
You wrote about I thought your final paper was about radio.
What was a podcast? My final my final thing was a project was actually a podcast about how sports and America have grown.
Oh, I hang around everywhere. Yes. Yeah. No, but I wrote up my first paper in grad school was they were very cool about letting me write about things I was interested in on was about how fantasy sports is creating fan agnostics, where essentially people are becoming more a fan of players.
And I was way out in front on this. Like, honestly, I wish you'd go back and read it.
It's probably like, Oh, yeah. No, so Thomas every year just calling this stuff. Did they
let you? And I was right. I created the term fan agnostic. No big deal to me. Did they let you I was right I created the term fan agnostic nobody killed him Did they let you write whatever you wanted because you were 35. I was I was 30. Thank you very much
Very big difference. All right, and I got an egg. So never go. It's good kick that. That's good. That's good
School wasn't for me. I know breaking news to anyone out there
Wasn't wasn't my go-to. Yeah. Yeah, it's there to think about baseball. But I do have a World Series thought
yeah, besides we're bands going soft, yes is I
I feel like every single count the Dodgers are in is three two. Oh, I know
Ridiculous now, I know last night was a different story the Yankees came out
It's a ball-playing game for the Dodgers involved in the home run is fine
but like for when the when the Dodgers have been trying it's it's shocking and and
They the Phillies did not have the you know Edmonds Arthur the the inning with a single and stealing a base or like the
This isn't have that like there's don't have the guys that are going to just grind pitchers down.
I mean, what Clark Schmidt was out in 68 pitches and three innings.
The Phillies would have been...
He would have gone in six.
He would have gone in six, exactly.
Yeah, he would have been down.
But it's been jarring.
Clark Schmidt starting a World Series game.
Shocking.
Where are we at?
Shocking.
Anyway, I know.
Man, I really hope...
This is the worst starting pitching we know there's that man. It's really hope there's been a lot of this is the worst like starting pitching
We've ever seen the realtor. Yeah, I do hope that as the sport gets back to its roots
I do think it is I think I think we've gone too far
I think they all realize they went too far so the starting pitching getting back to being real is gonna be a big one
but the same time do you like sign in reading some things about the
05 the 08 era the starting pitching was also brutal then.
I feel like it's-
Yeah, well they won because of Cole.
I mean, Cole was the only guy,
like Cole just went on a run in 08.
So they, when they traded for Joe Blanton, by the way,
so the trade deadline in 08 was on July 31st.
Sebasti got traded on July 7th.
Did he really?
Three weeks before the deadline.
And then they-
It was a big trade.
Michael Brantley going back to the-
It was huge. Indians at the time. Michael Brantley, I can't remember where else in the trade, trade Michael Brantley going back to the it was huge
Indians at the time Michael Brantley camera rolls in the chamber Michael Brantley was part of that training. Ah
No, but I think so, okay pretty sure okay, you can look it up I
Matt Laporta Laporta was the hunter. That was one right? Maybe it was a different
Let me look really way of indifferent, but I forgot about Matt. He's gonna be's going to be a guy. And then Blanton got traded on July 17th,
like right after the All-Star game.
So there used to be trades way earlier,
but when they traded for Blanton,
he was-
You're right, it wasn't Brantley.
Brantley was a different one.
But when they traded for Blanton, his numbers,
he was five and 12 with a four, nine, six VRA.
Wow. And it was like like that's the guy Wow
Gotta get your plan. I mean they pitched eaten that is unbelievable
They pitched eat and eaten thirty sometimes and his eRA was over six. I mean it was it was brutal
They sent down Myers cuz Myers eRA. Oh, hold on
It was a player to be named later. No pretty good player to be named later. I never doubted
Never a doubt
But so happy right now But there was no openers in the in those day in that day and age
They would still try to have starting pitchers out there
but regardless I just I'm blown away by watching a team that by the way the Dodgers I
Think the Phillies when they were trying to make this thing work again,
they just signed names and it was like,
ah, he'll figure it out.
The Dodgers did it.
The Dodgers signed guys specific for them.
Yeah.
And it's made me think more and more about Trey
because obviously they essentially let Trey walk.
And I think a large portion of that was,
does not control the strike zone
in the way that they wanted to control the strike zone.
So that was that's been the eye opening thing from this great.
Great.
He's fine.
Mm hmm.
It's awesome.
You back.
I I will say I have I am down about the team still good.
Like I really am like I I always have fun when we actually do the pod.
But I'm like less excited
to do the pod. I'm like, this is a bummer. Like I hate that this team did this to us.
You know? Yeah. I mean, listen, I don't agree because I really think I could do this podcast
four or five times. I love doing it. Like at the moment we start doing it, it's the best
ever. It's like, I get, it's hard to get excited about this team Well, because man, yeah, I mean it's they really hurt me. Well, and I think that
Listen last year when they lost the diamond backs you could say well still like look at the moments, right?
Like there's some moment we beat the Braves again. We had a boy Harper and that was fun
There was just it was just over it was just done immediately. It was no there was no buildup There's one mom I sound the one pod like the the last two years each year. We got eight games
It's it isn't being part. We got two this I know and one they lost and blew late in the game
So and what was the magical amazing win? Yes. Yes, that's an all-time
I got that all-time says this bank parking
People are me talking about that years from now. I'm everything one game, too
But yeah, no, like it's they're definitely definitely not at the forefront. And that's why this off season,
I mean, I don't even know if you bothered putting him on your perfect off season, but
for the message from the show is go sign Juan Soto. I mean, there's, there's no doubt about it.
So I, I, he's my only, well, of course, like I built, I actually did it because I knew that you
would do it the other way. So I did mine saying, it because I knew that you would do it the other way.
Yes.
So I did mine saying, I know that you're going to do it the other way, so mine is based on
Juan Soto.
Right.
I have a backup plan if you don't get him, but mine's based on Juan Soto.
Sure.
And I think the most important thing that we have to push this offseason, and the most
important thing that fans have to push this offseason, is the reason Juan Soto's a Yankee
is because Yankees fans were upset.
Like they went out there and they, they, they demand that organization to,
to keep pushing, keep going for it.
You're the Yankees you spend and that's what we have to do.
Like I think Middleton wants to spend.
I know that.
Like I think he's, he's not the issue.
Oh my God.
He is the furthest thing. The one thing that I am sure is not the issue. Oh my God. He is the furthest thing.
The one thing that I am sure is not the issue.
It's John Miller, but the Phillies need to feel the pressure of you better.
I wanted the Dodgers to win the world series.
I said this user part of my reasoning with it.
Sure.
Like they, they need to feel this because if they don't, then they can say, well, people
don't seem that upset.
Maybe we'll just run it back.
And I know it's hard because the Eagles are currently playing and might've
stayed the season and turned it all around.
One person said they were going on a run.
That was me.
But yes, you the, the out in front, your Eagle green on, but you gotta have a
feel, yes, no, the steam like the back.
Yes, you do.
Yes.
But they, in this, as such on this podcast, I think everyone listening gets that. Yeah. Thank you
Yeah, I could host go bros. Uh-huh. Sure, but
You wouldn't want to
No, no, no, I might if I could start an only negative equals podcast
You would I think I would counterpoint was originally counterpoint was originally a very very positive eagles
You're right. It's all it was. It was just like this is the great yeah I just had not been saying
since they won I was it was all I cared about for so long I know and and it just
it's over now over it's over it's over it's all good yeah it's a thrill they
want I get down look at the jubilant excitement. No, I know it's good. I
It's good. No
No, but I'm really okay, but if if if if Rod wants me to hold host a negative Eagles by Oh, you're in
Yeah, I'll be the leader. I'll lead that move. You will
Know like people with the with the Philly specifically getting letting them know that what happened last year is not okay
Just sitting on your hands not doing any of these offseason. That's not gonna be okay. I
Like there's obviously positives that can come from the fan base
They can help lift a team up but the one of the
positives to a outrage fan base is that it usually leads to
Leads to a move so that's that's kind of where I'm at as you put together off season,
as we see the Yankees and Dodgers, would it be kind of poetic that 20 years
after they blew a three, nothing lead to come back in?
Oh, don't even go there.
I clean up your romantic baseball documentary just came out.
I would want it for seven games.
I got more baseball.
Yeah. The doc just came out. I mean, but it would just not be it's the Yankees. Like I want the Yankees to be the only
Alright, here's what I'll give you. I would love that they make it three three in the Dodgers win game seven. That would be hilarious.
Let me tell you something, buddy. If they make it three three, there's no way the Dodgers are winning game seven you got PD in game six anything happening yeah yeah yeah he had PD game five shilling
in game six and there you go there you go I love you for that is he added to I
loved him that was so much fun well especially cuz like you got to remember
I mean I know you do but like we hadn't won in our lifetime at that point like
that way it was and that was still like just told me
We're just starting to be like, okay
Like maybe we're not a dumpster fire but like that was from 93 until then like just trash
Oh, yeah, so it was like alright, like yeah, this is exciting
This was just Yankee like anything I could do to hate the Yankees. Yeah, you know, you're not there
well
Cuz you still got a one of the most impressive one of the most impressive things about you is you still have a childlike
hatred for sports teams.
You're so right.
Dallas dogs like that.
You're barreling towards your mid-40s, but you still have childlike disdain.
It's pretty funny, actually.
I never thought of it.
I really do.
Well, and dude, it's 100%.
I know, I don't know if you ever heard this term before but fantasy was you got what you call it?
Well fancy agnostic. Yeah, it's an is fancy agnostic, but it's an agnostic that agnostic
It's that fantasy has made the fan agnostic created it. Yeah. Yeah, that's totally what it is
Yeah, there you go. Okay, and I keep betting on Aaron judge that to home runs why?
Why because it's some point he's got to do it. He's got to do it at some point. Thanks. It's unbelievable
Yeah, he's good. I mean Aaron Kershaw it is but well, that's what I was gonna say
How funny is it? I mean assuming they don't you know red sox it your Yankees it whatever to call it that
The year they actually, you know in 2020 sham year the year
They actually go and have a gear win the World Series as the year Kershaw's out is like beyond.
It is unbelievable how the Dodgers have been in every single year of our feels like our
life.
Yeah, they've been like the LCS for the world's like 12 years in a row.
2013 it started in 13 from the when the Cardinals went back to the World Series.
It's just every year they're there.
Unbelievable.
And they have to.
Well, they were they did what we wanted and we love Dave.
They've done a great job, but they did what we wanted the Phillies to forever.
Back then they were like, let's be a big market team.
Oh, but let's go get the guy who built the raise, the architect of that whole
thing and bring that guy in and now he's running this team.
He can sign show.
Hey, but then he can also go get Tommy, Eminem, Michael Kovac and this,
and that make all these moves.
Like it's just.
Yeah. It's a way to do it. No, Edmund, Edmund kills me.
Did you look at what that trade was?
It was nothing.
They didn't even give it.
They weren't even like a part of the deal.
Yeah, it was.
It was a frickin Eric Fetty trade.
And all of a sudden, like Tommy Edmonds, a Dodger, because the White Sox were
going to flip him back to the Dodger.
I know. I know. What are we doing?
Where are we involved in these things?
He's playing shortstop. He's playing center field.
Like Dave, Dave needs to step it down.
Well, he does, like especially needs to like move forward a little bit here.
Like like Andrew Freeman is constantly doing.
You can't.
They made how many moves they make.
They're like nine trades, eight or nine trades or something like that.
It was something insane like that
I'm with the big ones right now are Flaherty admin Kopec right but then they
made all those other little moves the point is is he's putting a lot of ducks
out there and see what hits and here's and and here's what else they have to get
better at is stop overreacting I think they overreact so much to what players are doing at triple-a and what players do in spring training
You get major league quality players that have done things in major league baseball
I we love like Cody Clements awesome Weston Wilson awesome at like these guys that are more org types fine
But they went and got major leaguers that have at least had moments in the big leagues. Like that's the thing.
Go out and trade for quality major league players.
Yeah. And don't just bank on, well, these guys are good in AAA
and these guys have a weak stretch where they were putting good.
No, no, no, no, no. Like Tyler Phillips.
I love Tyler Phillips.
Who could forget the complete game against the Guardians?
But watch the stuff.
I mean, just watch the stuff and use your eyes.
In some instances, I don't know. That's been the, I, the toughest part about
losing is obviously watch everything through a Phillies lens or Eagles lens or
whatever lens. But that's when the two things that have jumped out is, Oh my
God, look at the way they control the strike zone and make some plays. When
you're at the trade deadline, don't just settle with what you have and get some quality majorly play.
We knew in the moment we said at the time like it was it.
It was just an all time whiff.
And I think you can.
There's a direct like they might not have one anyway,
but I think there's a direct correlation to how badly they performed the playoffs
and what they did.
And well, and I will never know the answer, but you
there's been stories of of clubhouses feeling deflated a hundred percent.
He didn't do enough of the trade.
That is a factual thing.
Like I have actually heard stories from people we've talked to in this business who have
been on teams in those moments.
I'm in like, yeah, like that, that sucked for us.
Like they were like, well, I guess they don't believe in us.
Cool.
Yeah.
Well, it was almost, I think they still believe them at this deadline.
It was no. I'm saying you can see that in the in the clubhouse.
You could feel that way if you don't go out and add.
It's like, all right, well, just us.
OK, thanks.
Could you use especially Bryce like Bryce comes out before the deadlines.
I go do it. He wants to do it.
Like, you know, it's just it's frustrating.
Yeah. Like to your point point to the fans being outraged and causing this feeling of like, like I
need the Phillies to feel like, even if it's not now or never, I need them to feel
like it's now or never, like act like it's now or never, because for this group, for
this thing, this moment, it kind of is now or never.
Well, speaking of, speaking of that, I was walking around walking around I go on I go and get my midday coffee
Oh, yeah, when and you know when I'm here. Mm-hmm around like 12 15 and I've no I put on little headphones
Oh, yeah first song that popped up was rooster by Al's and James
Uh-huh, and I was just like if Zach Wheeler is not on a parade float
Bryce Harper, I know Bryce. I know it's we've detailed everyone. Yeah, but if they don't win a World Bryce, I know. We've detailed everyone. Yeah, but Zach, yeah.
If they don't win a World Series, I will never get over it for my entire life.
I don't care.
Now, unless Aiden becomes a World Series MVP.
And then he's like a star, a superstar, a best player.
And those guys win a World Series.
But like, I will be, I will raise Walker and
number and my second son that we're trying to decide the name on and
Whatever happens after that and just telling them and they're gonna there when when they put me six feet under
They're gonna say what did dad tell you all the time and either gonna say how did they not let Zach Wheeler? Yeah
Or Bryce. Well, I don't know. He never recovered after that.
So it just wasn't the same.
You know, just sitting muttered to himself.
It was really sad.
Like Wheeler's.
Oh my God.
I just, they make me so I'm a very positive Billy's fan.
You are.
I'm so mad.
I know I am still upset.
The more and more I talk on the podcast.
I sort of insane you.
I know.
I'm not mad heading into your today.
And then you said you're mad and it's like, wow,
he's going to be mad.
I'm mad.
I'm so mad.
Like I'm so mad.
Like I can't think about it too much.
I was like, it's really bad.
God wheeler.
I know.

Should we get in there?
They're going to, they're going to do it.
Yeah.
Okay.
Don't you dare.
Nope.
Not right now.
Let's, let's do the perfect.
You look at you.
All right.
Do you want me to go first?
Or do you want to go, you always go first.
Save the best for last.
It's like, yeah, sure.
This is I'm here to facilitate you being able to create these masterworks.
Now, I will say, I will say it's not as sexy.
Yeah. Well, so again, going in, it's when you look at the list of free agents
and what the Phillies have to offer in trades and the type of guys you can move and stuff like
it is kind of hard to make this work this off season like it's a it's a like again I get creative
All the perfect offseason did was make me feel like Dave from Ralphie's knock. I know
Okay, probably look really similar to yeah, all right, so I'm signing Monsanto
There it is. How much you giving them I put I so I put five hundred ish million dollars. You only get enough six
given them I put I so I put 500 ish million dollars y'all against enough six-fifty you think it's gonna be six-fifty no yeah really I think it's
gonna be 650 I think that's too much
divided by 10 is 65 65 million of that for some quick man that is that is more
than double what Bryce Harbor makes. That's close to triple.
Six fifty divided by hold on what is show? Show forty. Show is seven fifty. No, I know.
Or seven hundred. But how much is it a year? Seven hundred ten year contract. Seventy million.
But it's a lot deferred. If they could, can we defer money in this? Oh, I forget to defer all
day. Okay. Yes. And then I'll defer the contract. Six 650 divided by 15 is 43 million a year. Okay.
Says Zach Wheeler money.
Exactly.
For 15 years.
All right, so I see at least-
See, the family's 41.
At least 600.
Okay.
At least.
Whatever it is, I'm paying it to him.
And I hate-
Can Dave, here's my-
I hate that this is the situation that I'm in right now.
I know.
I hate it, but it's also like,
I don't know what else to do with the roster that I have
So I have two hopes I have two hopes about about Juan Soto that I've convinced myself up and I'm excited to pass it along to
Okay. Yes one my I I've convinced myself possibly that David Stearns is going to use his Milwaukee ways and say that's too much money
Oh, I hope so we can we can use we can build a team in a different way
Yeah, I would bet on him being met today if I had to bet sure yeah, I think that's fair
So my hope is David Stearns remembers
He's a small market guy and there's another way to build a ball club there you go David my second way that I've 100%
Convinced myself should be the case and and I hope is the case. I hope that John Middleton uses this
So this is actually for John
is the case. I hope that John Middleton uses this. So this is actually for John.
Scott Boris owes us. Okay. Oh, I like this. We paid Jake Arietta when no one was giving him that contract. We gave Bryce the biggest contract in the sports history for a week.
Now it was a week, but at the time it was the biggest. It's what they wanted. It's what Scott
Boris wanted. We paid Nick Castellanos when he did not have the kind of market he thought he's gonna have we stepped up and paid him and finally
We paid time. Oh, yeah
Great. It's about as good a dig as I'm you owe us. Yeah, that's probably a big Oh people
Yeah, probably is like well, it's put it's supposed to be part of the Boris thing is you get Boris family or family, correct?
Yeah, correct. So Scott, you owe us
look at what we paid Arietta and look who we paid Taiwan and add that to the deal and say,
and it's time to deliver one. I like this. Thank you. Yeah. Really good job. Bring us soda. Yeah.
Scott, you owe us. You do owe us. Yeah. 100% owes us. Yeah. I like this. Thank you.
Sure.
So yeah, I, I, when you look at the perfect off season, it really makes things so much
easier.
It's just everything.
Yeah.
He's ridiculous.
So I'm signing one.
So I guess for 600 plus.
That's fine.
I'll do it.
It's starting at five.
I'm reassigned.
Jeff Hoffman.
Of course. Got to.
I have a guest for you reliever is because I actually think I want to sign him to if it's the same guy.
Real quick question.
Was he injured last year or just has been injured in the last has been injured in the last couple of years.
OK, first my trade.
I this trade can be done whether you get Soto or don't.
I'm doing it as if I get Soto, but I have a backup if I don't.
But I'm trading Alec Bome and Starlin Kaba
to the Mariners for Andres Munoz.
And I'm also getting back Josh Rojas to play third base for you.
Gross. I know.
Well, the trade is for a Rosarania if we don't trade for Soto.
OK, I originally thought of it without Soto as a Munoz and a Rosarania
trade. So you get a Rosarania back to play left field and you get Munoz.
That was when I couldn't figure out how to fill third base.
Yes.
Not paying Bregman. If I did like Gio or Shella for a year.
Yeah.
Can Kike play third base?
Kike!
Bring me Kike!
Wow. Munoz is dope.
That's why I want to Munoz. My whole thing was like, he's got three years left of club control.
I'm so proud of you for looking at a reliever.
Thank you. I've been talked about.
He's a closer. You are in a closer league.
He's a closer. Yeah.
I always give you holds, guys.
I know. I'm going for a straight closer.
I need a closer. That is I'm going for a straight closer. I like I need a closer like
that is actually something going in this season like too much of this bag especially after
the way this playoffs played out. We said this last year we did we didn't know we convinced
ourselves we didn't need a close need a stone cold lockdown closer. I think Munoz is nasty
like I think he's got some of the best stuff in baseball. Obviously the numbers have been
really good for him. And he said three years of club control I know I got to give up a
lot for him. That's why I'm giving up Kaba. The Mariners are
a team I think bone makes sense for them for a year. They need a
bat at that spot. Two years, excuse me, bone makes sense for
them. They're like, I think it makes a lot of sense as a trade.
Yeah, I mean, listen, I also have a I have a bum. I figured you
did. And I didn't want to do Devon Williams because I know
everyone's talking about that. And also Munoz is more valuable in terms of control.
Sure and Kyle is gonna be interesting because like 80 great defender we've been over that. It's just how much is he gonna hit?
Yeah and we've been through the ROAS thing and I know shortstop is more valuable. Yeah.
But like it's just hard to like and also. I trust his bat more.
Okay good that's good to know but regardless we got Trey we Aiden, we got all kinds of guys on the side there.
Now Aiden's my third baseman next week.
Following year. I'm trading bone. Not this year. Aiden, my, my third baseman,
2026 locked it always been about 26. You know what I'm doing here?
I'm making the dress. So, and Rojas, I don't love the idea of him,
but like he is a borderline elite defensive third, like like he's great defensively and he doesn't chase.
He is a bad hitter, like a six 80 OPS kind of guy, but he doesn't chase.
Like the one thing he doesn't do is he doesn't chase. So there you go.
That's my trade. All that matters is not too bad. All I care about now is to not
chase your creative. And I just, I also couldn't like,
I actually do think Alec Bowman will be on this team. I ended the season thinking he won't be, but when I look at the
way, unless they do a Bregman thing, you know, we'll see how you go. Um, so, but I, I just,
I'm, I'm good. I'm tired of it. Like I'm, I'm fine with them training. All right. You know,
you know Kyle Tucker's younger than Alec Bohn. Is he really, are you serious? Yeah. Also like,
you know, it's like, I'm tired of him not hitting home runs.
Like I'm sorry. You can't be that big. You can't be that big and not hit a run.
There it is. There it is.
Hit some dingers.
So I'm going to, so I have a couple of questions for you on what you think I should do.
Cause I have options here.
Okay.
Do you think I have to sign a starter?
Cause I feel like I might need to sign a starter.
You can sign a guy that you think.
A one year dear. So did Matt Boyd make himself too
much money in the playoffs? I was looking at Matt Boyd. I think so. I think so too. 34 or will be 30.
And you don't want to spend, they're not going to spend too much. No, but I think you could be a one
year deal guy because of the age and stuff like that. So I love, I love Matt Boyd. I think that
guy's awesome. There's a couple one year interesting one year guys. Kintana is an interesting one year
deal guy. I just think he pitched so well for the mental private.
They'll probably get more.
And it's about time James Baxen.
You know who?
See, that's the guy, you know, who is
going to get more than one year.
Bueller.
Well, I was going to say your guy.
Oh, Pavetta.
Yeah, he's probably getting paid.
He's probably getting paid.
I mean, maybe he'll get three years.
I mean, he had a decent year.
I'm so mad Bueller show because I was
already ready to give him one year 18.
I would have done that in a second.
Yeah.
So I'm hoping I can get Matt Borg. And you year 18. I would have done that in a second. Yeah. Yeah.
So I'm hoping I can get Matt board.
You think it's Christ out, but that was my thought.
And then relievers wise, I'm re-signing Hoffman. So I'm not, and I'm trading.
So I don't really need a reliever.
I'm just going to guess I have, I have five names that I think are interesting,
really four names that are interesting.
And, but I'm going to guess your reliever.
You tell me if I'm right, you said one person did
get it eventually.
I know overall three people got I avoided all social media.
I think about 400 responses.
So I went through all the free agent relievers all this stuff.
I asked the question for to clarify I feel very confident my
answer.
Okay.
Andrew Kittredge.
Well, he I want to sign, but he's not the guy.
He's not OK.
So I was close.
At least he's on your list.
He's not too bad.
Yeah, Andrew, he was injured two years prior.
Like the yeah, but the guy I'm talking to, but he fits the thing sort of.
You'll see.
No, I know, but he does fit the qualifications that you told me.
Yeah, was injured free agent.
All former all die. You know, I can't remember what the last one was anyway. Well, 100% be a Dodger. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. just because AJ Minter, I mean, he's a free agent. Uh, and if I can steal him, look, I know he's old. We talked about the trade deadline,
like when your deal for Kirby Yates always I'd consider it need Kirby.
And then the last one, like I, I,
so Tommy Conley was another name I thought of as your guy, but I,
I don't think you've ever liked Tommy Gendley. And then look like
one year, million bucks, couple million, Hector Nairis, give him one last shot.
The protector?
The protector.
There's a lot of interesting reliever names.
That's why I listed those.
Okay.
Do you want me to start with the with the mystery reliever or do you want me to end
with the mystery?
I think you should end with them.
It's got to be the hammer.
Okay.
Yeah.
So obviously I'm signing Juan Soto.
We've been on the mystery this long.
Yeah, I got extended out a little bit longer.
So signing Juan Soto. Yeah, that would be
the number one. Yeah, but this is I made this with the idea they're probably not signing one soda.
All right. So I'm trading out bone plus for Devin Williams. I'm getting I'm getting
this doing it. You said it out there. You're like, I'm just doing I'm going to get Devin Williams in
here. And Devin Williams is a year left. They're probably not going to send them. They got good
production out of McGill last year. They've I've, I think they'd be, well, they don't
need they could, they don't trade hater and they'll create more of those. It'll be fine.
Yeah, it'll be all right, but they do need a bad, they're going to lose Willie Adamus
this off season. They're, they could probably move, move or tease the shortstop and then
boom there. Cause they, they, they've drafted out there's the last couple of years. They've
drafted like Freilich and Mitchell obviously have cheerio yeah and you know
like I just think it makes sense he's unbelievable he's unbelievable so I'm
doing that I'm getting Devon Williams in here and he's gonna be my closer I am
signing Alec Bregman five years 130 million I'm trying to okay so real quick
this is if you don't get sort, if I don't, obviously not.
I made this without them getting it.
I just want to make sure.
Cause I don't think they're getting.
So I thought about the pregnant thing a lot, a lot, a lot.
And I was looking at, especially with that trade, it would have made sense.
I was like, yeah, he's 30 and declining.
Perfect Philly, baby.
So I, I thought a lot about it. It's like the, the tray thing
didn't move me off of Juan Soto because he's 26. It might move me off the 30 to 31 year
old guys and that's big money. Well, and that's why I tried to go bigger money for shorter
years. Sure. Which is smart. I, I looked at it. I was like, I can't have this guy at 37, 38, 35.
Okay.
No.
Yeah.
And listen, I, you see the decline, but when you're in a world series window, I
don't know what you want them to do and getting someone that can bat second or
wherever you want to bat them, but top of the lineup that is not going to strike
out, I, I, I need it.
I need it.
So I, again, in classic High Hopes fashion,
I have always been... You have hated on him.
...Bregman is overrated. There were so many years... I think there was... I could be wrong,
but I'm pretty sure there was a point where I said he was my favorite non-Philian baseball,
and I think you crushed me for it if I remember correctly. I've never been a huge Bregman.
I loved him. I mean, mostly because he's Jewish, but I do love him. He's a good, he's a good
player. I just meant like, yeah, now I need him.
Was it connection to the Phillies? Right? Well, uh, Nola. No, no, no.
I'm talking like a grandfather. It was like his grandfather, Larry Shank or
something like that. It wasn't Larry Shank, but it was something like that.
Doesn't Bregman have a grandfather who's connected to the Phillies somehow? No,
no, I could be wrong about that. Who's Larry Shanks? It doesn't Larry Shank.
I don't know. But Larry Shank, that guy's great. But, no, no. I could be wrong about that. Who's Larry Shanks? It doesn't Larry Shanks.
I don't know.
But Larry Shanks, I guess.
But but yeah, so I mean him and Nola, obviously they were close,
I think, at LSU and he is a Boris guy.
So if if if if he doesn't deliver us one, so to you us not that much.
OK, we'll take we'll take Bregman.
We'll take Bregman and keep the freaking years down.
OK, I'm giving Jeff Hoffman three years, 33 million, 11, 11'll take back. We'll take Bregman. We'll take Bregman and keep the freaking years down. Okay I'm giving Jeff Hoffman three years 33 million 11 11 million a year
I could see it getting closer to 40 played for the Washington Senators. Okay, I knew his grandmother's a baseball
Anyway, but Hoffman
Hoffman is still an
Elite reliever in this league and I the playoffs are not pushing me off jump
And I do think the five days off affected the bullpen guys more than any.
I I totally agree.
I'm giving Andrew Gettrich two years, 20 million.
So funny. I love everybody.
I knew you loved it.
Like I was definitely right on with the OK.
Yes, I feel much better about my guys.
More of a former prospect.
OK, so here's a deeper cut.
Yes. OK, you're OK.
I'm signing Tyler O'Neill
This is just like it this this is like your greatest hit. Thank you
Like it's like thank you all the names, you know, but you know what I didn't do
You know what I didn't do I saw he was available as a free agent. I did not put down Adam Duvall
What a miracle I know
Tyler O'Neill is the new Adam Duvall. He's officially too old. Tyler O'Neill will strike out a lot. Maybe get hurt. Yeah.
That was my, I thought about that O'Neill too, but I was just like, man,
really seems a lot like what they have. Yeah, I know.
But he also could hit 30 thing and dongs like he hits him. He like,
he hits home runs. We were like, wow, is that the strongest man alive? Yeah.
Yeah. So it's definitely a risk. And, but, but three years, wow, is that the strongest man alive? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So it's definitely a
risk. And but but three years 50 is not that bad. You know, and he played left field, you can bet
in the middle of the lineup, he can give you a real power threat batting. He's okay. He did win
a gold glove. Did he really? Yeah. That is such a bad award. Man, you want to go go up, who could
forget that? So I am signing one of these three
players. I'm sorry for not having one, but are you kidding me? I just like listed relievers.
I'm sending one of Travis Darno as long as he declines him home. His club option. Yes. Yes. I'm
letting Darno end his career or Jacob Stalin. So I hate, but you're getting a bag of gas. I'm getting
it back and investing in a bag age all that's or
Playoff moments. Yeah, like big time. Oh, yeah, and then my biggest one that I want the most is Kyle. Gosh, you okay?
Which is he's somehow 34. Yeah, is he really he's like 33 34
Yoga, he's been around no way. He should be around for as long as he is. Wow. But I love him. He's a great defensive catcher.
Yeah.
I mean, look, Darno makes a lot of sense though.
And it would be real full circle.
Yeah, I know.
It'd be beautiful.
For those who don't know, I'm sure most of you do.
Travis Darno traded once upon a time for Roy Halladay.
So I actually don't think people...
I'm shocked at how young the audience is.
Yes, so that Travis Darno was very funny at the time of the trade and I'm old enough to remember
really well, as are you, kind of.
But it was Michael Taylor, Kyle Drabeck and Travis Darnow traded for Royale.
Drabeck, the centerpiece of the deal.
Stud Prospect, Michael Taylor, the clear number two in the deal. Travis Darnow, the clear number three in the deal. Stud prospect, Michael Taylor, the clear number two in the deal.
Travis Darno, the clear number three in the deal.
Well, it wasn't Carrasco, the, the, not even the main part of the lead deal. Yeah. Well,
so Carrasco, that's Lou Marson, and Jason Donald, Carlos Carrasco, and no, you're forgetting
the one who was actually the best prospect in that deal. Jason Knapp. Jason Knapp was
the guy everyone was so excited about. Like this guy's going to be something.
Who would have thought? His brother Andrew Knapp.
I know. Is it? No.
It's spelled the name. Same way.
So I was like, oh, I know. I know.
So one of those three for back catchers, I want to invest in the position.
I don't want JP to play a lot.
Now, my only let me speak for the Phillies fan who watched the team this season
and doesn't know much past that.
What about Rafael Marshawn?
That guy looked great.
Yeah, I mean, we can trade him.
I just think he's a pretty good player.
I can never trust him to be a full-time catcher
given his injury history.
He's probably more backup type,
might have more value elsewhere.
And listen, it's intriguing because obviously
JT has one year left, but yeah, I don't know. I, I guess I'd be fine if it was Marshawn.
I just, you know,
You just want to get a guy you trust.
There are some names out there.
What, uh, has there been a player who over the last two years, let's say from
the start of two years ago until now, who people would have been, let's say
two, two years ago, actually at this time.
So let's say two years ago in October.
Right. Yeah. Let's say two years ago in October. Right.
Yeah.
Let's say two years ago in October, we were in the world series.
We were in the world series till now.
Is there a player who's you can't get rid of him?
This has fallen more than Garrett Stubbs.
Well, yeah.
You know what I mean?
Like there was a point where it was like Garrett Stubbs has to be here.
And now it's like, is there going to be a,
it will be like missing Garrett, but like, is there a single Philly?
So it was like, you can't get rid of Garrett subs.
The Phillies lost their Garrett subs.
They did. That's the problem. It's over.
They can't have the fun clubhouse guy.
Chiefs vibe officer is being eliminated as a position on the chain. Yeah.
We got it. We got to make, we got to make cuts somewhere. Yeah.
Layoffs are happening. We're to make the cut. We got to make cuts somewhere. Yep. Yeah. We got to lay off sir.
Happening. We're laying off the cheats.
Bye bye. I love stuff.
I do too. I really do.
But they're going to need a real catcher to catch.
You just said a really.
Wow. What a shot.
It's so. Wow.
They're going to be a real catcher.
Damn. Poor Jared.
That was a trap. No, two shot in the dark names that are trade candidates.
Matt Manning and Ryan Feltner.
Ah, Matt Manning, former top prospect.
I know.
Falling on hard times with the Tigers.
Maybe they look to move on from them.
That's an intriguing fastball.
Dude, I love that idea.
He was a real deal prospect.
Shot in the dark.
And I thought it was awesome.
He was less of a prospect.
Yeah, but he's as soon as he leaves Colorado.
Colorado, yeah.
He's gonna be good.
And then the random relievers, not my main relievers,
but random relievers, I need them to sign.
They're coming back from injuries.
The Fritz special.
Oh, he was hurt last year.
Yes. Well, you're lucky. You're lucky I didn't put John Means on this because you know, I've been wanting John.
You mean John means I've wanted the trade deadline for years. He's coming back from his second time at John and he's gonna be out for all of this season. So if you want to sign into a time to strike.
Yeah. If you want to sign to a two year deal right now, this off season, I'd. I'd take John Means in a second. John Means business.
But the two random relievers I need are
Jonathan Loisica and JB Fireisans.
See, I thought when I was looking at,
I knew he wasn't your guy,
but Loisica was a name that I played.
Got a lot of Loisica's.
I stopped that.
Like I was like, oh, is that, no, it's probably not,
but like, yeah, thought of the Loisica.
Lot of Loisica guesses, which is good.
Shows people no.
Shows people paying attention. Love. Were there a lot of Kittredge guesses, which is good. Show people now. Just people paying attention.
Love. Were there a lot of Kittredge guesses?
I would assume. Well, no, because he's not.
He's not what I was talking.
I mean, Kittredge is a good relief.
So he's too good to be the guy you're talking to.
You're just a deeper cut.
Yes. Yes. Yes.
All right. So here it is.
And I'll assign this guy to possibly start.
But I'm really intrigued with him as a relief.
This guy had 15 K per nine as a reliever after being a bad starter last year.
And his era was under three as a reliever.
But what what team does he play for?
The worst team in the history of the White Sox.
May I interest you in a contract.
For Mike Soroka. Oh, look at you.
I already have a song.
So I saw that Mike Soroka's name and I went right past it.
I never even.
Unbelievable.
Sittered this unbelievable.
Mike Soroka just as a starter.
Obviously, it's probably why I didn't really I didn't even realize. So he was a reliever last year. I didn't even in the month of September.
So that's why I never realized that he was a reliever at all. So I was looking strictly
at relievers. That's interesting. That's the next. Yeah, look, I mean, I mean, he was really good.
His brain was in Austin. Yeah, he was, it came up and was like that. I know. And then he,
you're bad injury, right? Yeah. It was Achilles. I knew it was something where it's like, it's not,
and he can never just get back. and I've already a rope Mike Soroka
And I've already not see this you actually got I did not see this. Thank you. Yeah, and I've already envisioned
citizens Bank Park
He he makes he listen and this is directly for Mike. When do you sound to Philly?
Mike I know you're listening Mike your your walkout song has to be my Sharota.
Oh, my.
Seroca. That's come on.
Pretty come on.
OK, then
Mike's a rocker.
It's it's there.
It's it's that's it.
Thank you, Mike.
Seroca.
It's so good.
My favorite thing ever.
Come on. I want to design them just because.
Thank you.
Dan and Mike Soroka.
This is so great.
I know.
Come on.
Come on home, Mike.
Really good job.
Thank you.
You can stick to the brave.
You've been great with songs this off season.
Thank you.
You're really taking it to the next level.
Mike Soroka.
That's great.
You did a good job. Thank you. So good. Thank you. I're really taking it to the next level. Mike Soroka. Da-da-da-da-da. That's great. You did a good job.
Thank you.
So good.
Thank you.
I need Mike Soroka.
When you were saying you were introducing him, you're like,
and I got a song.
I was like, thinking like, what is he talking about?
He's got a song.
OK, that's weird.
Like, OK.
Yeah.
This like Trout and Rendon moment.
Turner and Bumper, Trout and Rendon.
Turner and Bumper, Trout and Rendon.
Come on.
On fire. Yeah. Come on, man.
He can't see people outside.
You're doing an amazing.
My Mike, like Mike Soroka, 15 Ks per night is reliever.
Like I mentioned, it's wild.
That's really because he wasn't like he was a he was a good start, but he wasn't.
He's not. He's not like been the most.
He's not been the most like stuff wise guy guy like stuff wise. He's not popping up
Well, that's why when he was a starter. It wasn't like a huge breakout guy was he? Yeah. Yeah, so I thought he's just a good solid pitch
It's a pitcher. This is just like a baseball player. All right, where do I have it?
okay, so so
There it is. So these were the
This is the best strikeout rates in baseball in
September. Okay. Number one, Luke Weaver.
Unbelievable. Number two, Fernando Cruz, who if the fill is again, I would be,
I'd be ecstatic. Number three, Ryan Helsley, number four, number four, Mason
Montgomery and number five, Mike Soroka. Mason Montgomery, not Mason Miller.
Yeah. My Mason Montgomery on the race. But number five, Mike Soroka at a 50% K rate.
That's that's insane.
I had no idea.
None.
Go get Mike Soroka.
I know.
So she is a swing guy.
Like he's a Spencer Turnbull.
He can either be the, well, he obviously just sucked at the start of the last year.
Right.
But he can be like Spencer Turnbull ish for you.
Yes.
I love this.
Thank you.
Look at you.
Mike Soroka.
So, and then I made, I made, I made three lineups. Okay. Good. Yeah. And I have two more perfect off season after this that are coming out today.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Which one do you like the most?
Okay.
Lineup one is Harper Bregman
Schwab er Tyler O'Neill
Castellanos Turner start real muto marsh slash robust interesting and I get Harper leading off both second one
What will probably be it?
Schwab er
Bregman Harper O'Neill
Castellanos Turner start real muto marsh like I I don't think there's any way they bat Turner that low.
Like, I would be fine with it.
You would be fine with it.
You think Rob Thompson is going to bat Turner six?
No chance.
Sneak him into the fire.
Yeah, he's probably batting clean up in that line.
If we're being honest.
All right. So then what about the last one?
OK, Turner leading off.
Yeah, that was the original idea.
Turner, Harper, Bregman, Schwabr,
O'Neal, Castellanos, that real middle marsh.
I love it.
It's weird.
Well, you're Harvard batting second,
you get Turner, you get Bregman batting third.
Look, I want to have to hear about Schwabr at lead off
anymore, is that?
Having people, having the batters behind Harper
being Bregman, Schwabr and Tyler O'Neal.
Would be nice
It's at least like some power threats starters Wheeler Nola Sanchez Ranger painter slash Taiwan slash Soroka
Yeah, I won there just get ready for it
I want to miss and then the bullpen of Devin Williams Jeff Hoffman strong Alvarado Kirk and Kittredge Ruiz and Soroka
It's a great bullpen. So it's a damn. Yeah, Andrew Kittredge is yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, But Andrew Painter is pitching his pitching in the fall league again today. He was nasty in the last one, dude
So I obviously watch it during the show. Oh shocking. Yes. I know
It's like I don't pay them. No, I brought this one
I'm here because they said something and I jumped in and was totally wrong and they'll hear we said that
I don't like I know I know so I jumped in
There and I was I miss what they're saying. Oh, I've done that many times.
You're on the phone.
You're like, yeah, well, no, no, no.
It's like, we're not talking about that.
I know you feel like an idiot.
So I did that and they they both were like, we weren't talking about that.
And I was I was watching painter.
Like, sorry.
So I was locked in.
But he.
Well, I am he looks awesome, but he just straight up looks awesome.
And I know that he's probably not going to be, I'd be surprised, I guess, if he's in
the rotation out of opening day.
Just from an innings thing.
Like it just, you want him at the end of the year.
Wasting, wasting pitches in the minor leagues, but whatever.
Just the stuff and he's added a new slider and just the way he commands, like his first
two starts were not the best
command wise for him.
And then the last start it was classic painter 26 of 32 strikes, 26 of 32 strikes.
So the hype train is back for Andy, by the way, right?
Yeah.
Again, and hopefully we can talk to Preston.
Cause I don't love that.
Stop calling him man.
I'm with you.
It's Andrew painter.
Does he want to go to the hall of fame or not? Exactly. And now we're getting into real counter for in territory., I'm with you. It's Andrew painter. Yeah Does he want to go to the Hall of Fame or not? Exactly and now we're getting into real counterpoint territory. Thank you
Thank you. I mean Andy painter sounds like a child taking that seriously exactly Andrew
I'm gonna pick him up from from from daycare. It's the only thing I hope we can talk to Preston again
I'm with you. It's the only thing I want to bring up. Yeah. Hey Preston. Thanks for coming on one question
Yeah enough with the end. Yeah, honestly don't care about anything else really
Can you tell Andrew Banner to go band now are you in on are you in on stashed banner?
You go he's got always even say yeah, I've always been
Yeah, are you getting me? There's there's nothing better like it's game up. Yeah
Yeah, freedom stashes. I had a lot of fun with my Yankees friends friends and then cross for Don'ts contract
No, nice after game two. That was fun
Yes, and I thought about hasn't worked out about trade turtles contract. Yeah, they sent right back
You see that there's a
So I know this was a I know I know that no one jumped on the bit of Turner and bone for
Wondering why you know, I just did you see that there's a
Andy Rindle? Yes, the money stealer.
And the website is Anthony Rendon, best tracker dot com.
So that's one hundred and sixty seven million stolen from the angels.
So I said seven million left and it just drags it when he gets paid.
It's so funny. It's so funny
Heads up Rendon has heard four dollars and 89 cents while you've been on this side
Dude I need Rendon here. What a great great site. I
Need Rendon Kevin Long
like reinvigorate his career
Here with his body and he's and he's a postseason performer. It's true look he left handed and I mean it's all right let's say this you you make
your moon yo straight yeah we trade it you're trading for Rendon to play third
yeah I have to I know so so shot on renda I know it is better than Josh Ross
come on sure did I need random why not I might need Rendon more than I need to change the scenery. I might need Rendon more than I need Sirocco. He, in terms of batting for the buck, like it might be the most surprised I've ever been.
Like in terms...
Yeah, he just doesn't care.
It's clear he doesn't care, but like I don't, I don't ever remember being more sure that a guy was going to be a great hitter for the next decade and then this ever, ever.
Oh, and the Phillies were in.
The Phillies were trying to get him that offseason.
Whoops. Thank God. Thank God. That a guy was going to be a great hitter for the next decade and then this ever ever on the Phillies
We're in let's try to get him that off season whoops. Thank you
Thank you, but if you get him here and around Turner get him around hard as I honestly like it's hard to know like
I'm maybe just going to the Angels sucks the life out of people so much and it's like, you know
I think you're trying to join the movement. What a disaster like imagine me an Angels fan. I know
It's good Could not imagine.
Can you imagine?
I think of the sports channel.
I mean, just all these contractors, all the money, very Matthews Jr.
Andrew Albert Pujols, Frankie unbelievable.
We've had so much non this work.
Zero, zero.
It's unbelievable.
It really is.
They're only good players.
They get their gloss and Darren erstad. Well, their, you know, Gloss and Darren Erstad.
Well, they when they were good, that's like a two team.
Yeah. And then their best like Tim Salmon.
Besides like trout.
I mean, like Cole Calhoun of a home run player.
Yeah. Cole Calhoun, maybe.
Howie Kendrick, I think was originally out there.
Yeah. Yeah. There you go.
Howie Kendrick. That's honestly how you end.
It is. It is so funny now seeing all these guys that I actually remember now becoming manager. Oh, yeah little venable
Buddy, he's not the White Sox manager. I know that feeling the weird one. It's it is a weird one. You're like wait. I
Watch you the player retired. Yeah
Well, yeah, we'll get that we'll get a plan we're gonna play
Yeah, I know. I know. Well, yeah, we'll get there. We'll get a plan. We'll get a plan.
Shorber's going to be our player.
Ah, in. Yeah. In. Yeah. Let's do it.
Can we start? You're still wearing your you still got your. Yeah.
You are all fillied up.
I am what I am.
You are. You are so what you are.
On Sunday when the Eagles plan, I was wearing the fighting.
I know you were. Of course you were.
And everyone know they're still there. There go Mike Soroka Mike Soroka Mike Soroka
I wish we could do an entitled music is that would be perfect. Yeah, I don't think it would play as well
Right then and that end that now I can't I'm so proud of the people that that
Finally got it to you three people. You're amazing. That was a really good
job. I looked right past the name. I saw Siroga. I was like, but I also didn't realize he was a
reliever, which is on me. Let's be honest. You love your White Sox. I do. I checked out on them at the
end. Once I knew my vault was vaulted in. All right. Anything else? All right. Special guests.
Oh, yeah. Coming up, we think. We're delivered, but we got a pretty, pretty awesome guest coming up in the near future.
Probably on next week's pod. See what all plays out. But I'm perfect.
Season two point out and Jack's next. And then after that, the next one.
And then we'll probably take off at Thanksgiving and then we'll be back in the next one.
And then perfect off seasons and all. They all involve Mike's room.
Have no fear. Perfect. All right. We'll be back next week. Until then,
he's written something.
