and we'll get into the game.
Yay! Welcome back to Althea the Dragon Empire.
Our heroes are now reunited,
with Ophelia having completed her journey in the Greylands
and earning another chance at life,
and Rowan and Xanthius free of their curse,
the party turn their attention to the events that occurred over the last few days and back
towards the mystery of the Lamplighter's Guild.
With the information that there are catacombs below Brightshadow Cathedral, Rowan strikes
upon an idea to go to the Stonemason's Guild and see if they have plans of the town that
could help.
With Gruff alongside, they learn that Ashen Rest has they have plans of the town that could help. With Gruff alongside,
they learn that Ashen Rest has an old set of sewer tunnels that run alongside the Cathedral's
catacombs. Descending into them, a pair of cleaner slimes sneak up on our party and catch
them unawares, erupting in a short but rather slimy conflict. With the slimes defeated,
our party press on towards their intended destination and perhaps some answers.
And that is where we pick up this week.
You have just defeated these cleaner slimes,
gelatinous cubes,
if you want to know specifically the monster they're based on.
And you are in these very narrow, quite smelly but dry old sewer tunnels.
They extend onwards.
This is where, if you guys wanted to take a short rest,
we didn't check in last week, if you guys wanted to have a short rest
or if you just wanted to press on.

traverse these narrow tunnels you're moving at half speed, maybe like another hour of travel,
and then you'll be in the area.
Because they twist and move around,
you have to kind of go around places,
and it's not a straight, direct path there.

You know, these narrow tunnels, there is maybe a point,
I'll leave it up to you for your characters to decide,
but you've spent a long time now in these quite tight, old sewer tunnels.
Like, they're stable, they're very well built built there's no risk of them coming down on you but this is a very tight space gruff and bro and
you're you're crouched over hunched up moving through them um whether or not how that wants
to affect your characters i leave to you but you only have this this radiant magical light providing
illumination gruff leading the way.
After about an hour, you come to a strange turn because for the first time,
it's no longer right angles and straight lines.
You come to a diagonal.
And Gruff, you know that this is the diagonal part
of the old sewers that runs diagonal to the catacombs.
They had to be built this way
so that they didn't overlap into the cathedral.
And it's not far far maybe 20 feet down
on this diagonal where you immediately see something in the light and you can see that
a part of the wall has been broken down and then rebuilt connecting the two
connecting the two.
And there is maybe just a faint flicker of torchlight coming from within the catacombs
that is being illuminated as you turn down,
allowing you to see it,
even in the dim light of the far reaches of Daisy's dagger.
They must have used this sewer as well as the catacombs.
I've also forgotten, once again, it's fate.
We've got to work out fate pools.

like maybe a slight slope up into the catacombs.
But it's definitely, you know, from your distance,
you can't tell any details,
but you can see that clearly, like,
there is a connection between the two of them.
But you would need to, yeah, at this distance,
not really able to tell much different.
You're looking at it in dim light.
Can I use survival or something of that light
to see if there are any noticeable footmarks
and paths that have been used to go between the two?
You would need to, I mean, yeah, if you want to move up,
I'm assuming at this point you've just seen this at like 20 feet,
20 feet ahead.

and then they go further into the old sewer system, but they also go further into the catacombs and then lead out and then they go further into the old sewer system
but they also go further into the catacombs as well.
You can tell with that survival check
that there were several human-sized individuals,
a couple of small like halfling or gnome-sized individuals
or children, like young human children
and at least one dwarf, maybe two.

you can follow that the tracks lead further into the sewer tunnels
and the catacombs, but you don't necessarily know.
Once you get to a certain distance, you lose the tracks.
You can't follow them any further.
