Starting point is 00:00:57 Subscribe to Hello from the Magic Tavern today. Welcome back to Althea the Dragon Empire. Along the coast of the Suncrest Isles, our heroes came to a little fishing community of Netting-on-Sea, a quiet, quaint village of local people who were unsettled by the sudden arrival of armed and armored strangers. Our party were dispatched to an old abandoned church of St. Tylan at the top of the cliffs nearby and found it to be haunted and full of dangerous, deadly spirits that tried to claim their life force. In the church, Gruffuth saw visions of a cult within the village killing the local priestess in the name of Orjanya, Mother of the Deep, She Who
Starting point is 00:02:13 Sinks. Fearing their allies left back in the village, the party rushed back as the Bounty of the Sea festival was underway and attempted to sneak in and disrupt the cult's plans. They rescued Carla, a Daeva like Daisy and attempted to seek out Ser Joran Harper but were discovered before they could and a battle ensued. The cultists were no serious threat to the seasoned heroes and a few clever spells and abilities quickly overpowered them, but alas, the signal pyre was lit and as the cultists were put onto the back foot, something began to emerge from the ocean. Monstrous crab-like humanoids blowing coral conch shell horns and lifting pennants of seaweed and blood soaked sail cloth
Starting point is 00:03:05 as their champion, Agamox the Doomclaw. Agamox. Agamox. Appeared alongside them, a powerful figure with an enormous crushing claw and a serrated greatsword pointed upwards towards the village and the horrors surged forwards. And that is where we nearly begin.
Starting point is 00:03:30 There are two things we must do. Oh. Fate. Yes. Very important, this one. Yeah. Hell no. Hell yeah.

Starting point is 00:03:54 A three and two. Excellent to know. I got a box now. Luckily, I got it rolled on my initiative. It's so easy to get sucked into it. He's got a good, you know, a good chant there. He does. He's got a good roll.

Did you notice the recap was very Netting on Sea-sided bias? It was almost like a postcard of like, wish you were here.
Starting point is 00:04:17 Shame about the traveling outsider cult. So let us do a big recap of the battlefield. We have the town square, or the village square of Netting-on-Sea. The Marshal's house is over on the, what would be to camera the right side. The east, yeah. Yeah, to the east.
Starting point is 00:04:38 Inside of which, we currently have an unconscious Sojourner Harper, as well as Hannah Cambric, the mother of the Marshal, Jameson Cambric, both members of the cult. Gruffydd, who is currently a giant eagle, has swept in and has been fighting with Hannah to try and rescue Sir Joran Harper. Just outside the Marshal's building,
Starting point is 00:05:01 we have Jameson Cambric, the Marshal himself, and one solo remaining cultist guard. Both now free of the whole person spell, Jameson is now free of that, but Xanthius has flown up on his draconic flaming wings, his spectral wings. It is actually flaming wings, I should have mentioned that.
Starting point is 00:05:22 The energy of which is similar to my breath weapon. So it's fire. This is like draconic wings of fire. You have flown up into the air. You are hovering above this now wet and smoky signal pile that they use to signal this attack on the cliffs next to the side of the coast. We have an animated statue currently being commanded
Starting point is 00:05:42 by Rowan, the statue of St. Talana Driftwood statue, lumbering around wielding its mighty oar. We have a scattering of tables and barrels and crates from the festival scattered around the town square. We have a group of civilians, non-cultist civilians, all the way at the north of the map, just outside the Catch Tavern,
Starting point is 00:06:06 which resides on the sort of northwestern corner, in which we have Daisy and Rowan looking out of a window, looking down on the town square, as well as Carla the Daver, whose celestial spirit is a siege gunner, and she has summoned this celestial sniper rifle, a sort of massive Barrett 50 cal thing of celestial energy.
Starting point is 00:06:28 Downstairs, waiting for something to do is the incredible Mateo, the best of us, with his dagger. He is waiting for some sort of instructions. We have a couple of other scattered citizens, as well as a teenage cultist who is in the process of stabbing up Ophelia whilst she was paralyzed, but is now, Ophelia is no longer paralyzed. We have some market stands, some wagons,
Starting point is 00:06:53 a little bit of a rocky wall, and then the steps that lead down to the shore itself, where the rocky coastal cliffs and the sea meet, upon which the forces of Agamox are surging from. The sun-kissed Sojoran ship, its sails completely taken off, its anchor heavily embedded into stone, it has been purposely sabotaged to deny you a quick escape aboard it. But that is also down in the sea.
Starting point is 00:07:23 And that, my friends, is a full recap of where we are. Very good. Nice. May we have a recap on the most important character in all of this, which is the Otter Lady. Yeah, how are they doing? Where is she? How's she doing? So, Annabelle... Annabelle?
Starting point is 00:07:41 Forgive me, I just need to get her name up. Which, luckily, they were need to get her name up. Which luckily they were screaming as they were running away. Oh sorry, yeah, Ann, not Annabelle, Ann Breezeweaver, the Otter Wildheart, who runs Auntie Ann's general store that you never went to. We can go there, aren't we? With its lovely little sign of like an otter
Starting point is 00:08:00 in a little shroud, holding a load of trinkets in its hands. She has been injured by one of the cults. She's bleeding heavily, but the other townsfolk have rallied around her. There's actually one more I should have moved over, actually, a lot. I mean, a cultist that injured her has been... Annihilated.
Starting point is 00:08:16 Annihilated, so let's keep going. But, yes, she is alive, but injured currently. I'm just making something a little easier on myself for the old initiative at the moment. I'm just taking a look at- So feel free to have a little chat amongst yourselves. Yeah, I'm just taking a look at the coast here, at how many boys we're actually dealing with.
Starting point is 00:08:34 Obviously, Echobox is there pretty much in the center, but we've got- 10. Similar creatures to what we fought on the boat, right? Yeah. So some of them have the coral, some of them don't. But there's one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, including Agamox himself.
Starting point is 00:08:51 So... Themself. A few. A few. Only a little bit, right? Yeah. We could do this. Yeah, we could do it. I mean, how are we doing, like, resource-wise? We couldn't convert...
Starting point is 00:09:01 Them? No. Oh, so you're gonna... Them. Oh, we just worship a Jona instead. Easy. You down for that, Ophelia, Fifi? Sure, I mean, yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:13 You'll just abandon the Great Father that quickly. I mean, if it means I get to live. I didn't hear the Great Father have a cool chant and walk out the sea. Right. He doesn't yet. With that, we are at the top of a brand new initiative, which means the first person to go is Ophelia. As a reminder, a little bit on the initiative order here,
Starting point is 00:09:32 we have Ophelia, the last of the remaining guard cultists, then we come to Daisy, who I'm gonna, you guys are gonna kind of control as a democracy, and then I'll do all the roles and combat abilities and stuff like that for, and then I'll do all the roles and combat abilities and stuff like that for. And then Gruff and Rowan after Daisy. Sick. And then I'm like way down to 10.
Starting point is 00:09:51 Yeah, where are you? You're like eighth currently. I think I'm just after Carla. Something like that, yeah. There are new initiatives to add in. That's true. How do you spell Carla's name again? I have spelled it K-A-H-L-A.
Starting point is 00:10:03 Yes! Throwing an extra H makes it more fancy, doesn't it? There's an H somewhere. Yeah, there's always an H. When Mark spells a name, there's always an H somewhere. Right, Ophelia. Yes, Ophelia is free from her hold person. There is the teenage cultist who's all been grappled
Starting point is 00:10:21 by one of these non-cultist citizens who's just like, you've betrayed us, is shouting at this, like, you and your family have betrayed us, like, you've brought them upon us, and sort of shouting, because you guys can also see about 20 feet down the steps, emerging from the sea, you have all borne witness to this surging tide about to come upon you.
Starting point is 00:10:45 So yeah, Ophelia's eyes are going to go wild with bloodlust, and she's going to look down at this teenager that's been stabbing her up. Yeah. And, yeah, she's just going to say, Grey Father, command this crimson to suture my wounds in your righteous name, and she is going to bite this teenager. Love it. This proud little teenager, no less.
Starting point is 00:11:06 Yeah, so let's go and I get advantage because my health is half or lower. With advantage, natural 20. Oh! Oh no! That's a big old crit. Yeah. It basically deals the damage you do.
Starting point is 00:11:21 So it's a default base. It deals the damage equal to, so don't forget this is crunchy crits. So what we're looking at here is max damage plus the damage dice again plus your modifiers. So that is 9 plus 7, so that's 16. And then can I add my, on my blood points to that? You can, don't forget they are max so you get six and then another D6 because it's a crit. So that's another six. So what was I 16? 22, 23, 24, 25. I'm not raging because I was hold person.
Starting point is 00:11:58 You are, yep. That's true. But I have, because of haste, an additional action, so I would like to do that again, please. Well, you have extra attack anyway. For light weapons. Does a natural weapon count as a light weapon? No, so extra attack is you just get two attacks a turn, and then the haste gives you a third attack. Well, I'm gonna do it.
Starting point is 00:12:18 So you have certain number of uses on your life draining bite, so do you heal the full amount, or is it half? I heal the full amount, I believe. You gain hit points equal to the piercing damage dealt by the bite. And the blood point does deal more piercing damage than the bloint.
Starting point is 00:12:35 So that's 23. Yeah, 23. 23 healing to start with. And then you can bite again as long as you've got more uses of your empowered bite. Yeah, I've got three uses. Yeah, so yeah, if you wanna bite again. Oh, you've got more uses of your empowered bite. Yeah, I've got three uses. Yeah, so yeah, if you want to bite again. This doesn't have any power.
Starting point is 00:12:46 Oh, actually no, I... Sorry, just to clarify, she is dead. Yeah, yeah. Oh no! Like, this cultist... And I don't think you've killed anyone with this before, have you? No. So... I think I've killed...
Starting point is 00:12:59 Oh, you did? No, you killed a cultist, I think. I killed a cultist. Like, in the Ash Hills. What is this? Yeah. So you... This woman is being grappled and you just sort of snatch this,
Starting point is 00:13:07 and I say teenager, they're like 18, like 18, 19. You snatch and they're like a halfling. And you snatch them up, pull them up, and just bite in. This is probably, I mean you tell me, is this like the elegant, subtle, this is just like biting and tearing. Yeah, this is just like biting and tearing. Like a beast. Yeah, this is just the blood, the neck becomes
Starting point is 00:13:27 this savage wound that just is ripped open and just the crimson liquid drips down your throat, covers your chin and jaw as you feel this overwhelming warmth and your wounds begin to knit back together. Pfft, pfft, pfft, pfft. Amazing. As your body is healed by this crimson blood. But yeah, there is no more cultists left for you to attack.
Starting point is 00:13:58 There's also no blood left in that. Mm, how's this guard looking? He's got tuxedoed. So this guard all the way over by Xanthias, pretty fresh I think, I think took half damage from a tidal wave. Yeah, I was pretty good with him. I mean you've got 50 feet of movement, yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:13 In fact, actually I can use Chris Trott's newly printed little measuring tool. Very cool. Yeah, which would get you just in range. This guy will have some cover on the attack roll though. Unless it's changed, can you use movement between extra attacks as well? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:29 So you can just carry on with your entire attack. You can always move between attacks. Always. So like you can, if you've got two attacks, you can do 15 feet attack, move 15 feet attack again. Nice, so yeah, I'm going to reach over and go for this guard as well.
Starting point is 00:14:42 It's pure feral just for me. Do you still have advantage because you're under half HP or what? I am no longer on half, I'm gonna reach over and go for this guard as well. Starting point is 00:14:52 So, but I did get a 15 on both my dice. 15 to attack the regular cultist guard. That'd be 15. That'd be 20. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, easily hits. 20 something. Easily hits. 20 something. Easily hits. Cool.
Starting point is 00:15:07 Okay, so again, again, again. Blood streak blur. Another D4 plus five. Not a crit this time. No. So that is just six extra healing for me. That's still enough to finish him off because he was injured from the tidal wave. I mean these guys weren't super tough when you guys were fighting them, right?
Starting point is 00:15:22 They're not the problem, yes. You have used all 50 feet of your movement, though. But I have one more action. So, I think I'm going to cast a spell. Well, you've used your action to attack twice. So, the haste doesn't give you an extra action, it just lets you make another attack. I don't believe you can use it to cast a spell. Okay. Let me find out.
Starting point is 00:15:46 I think that's right, but... Yeah, that sounds about right. Yeah. It is not Baldur's Gate III rules, unfortunately. Yeah. The attack, dash, disengage, hide, or utilize. Yeah. So you could attack.
Starting point is 00:15:59 Unless attack counts as spell attack? No. No, so I can't get to anyone. You could, if you want a little bit of advice. You could spend a Blood Point to make your weapon a thrown weapon, though, spell attack? No. No, so I can't get to anyone. You could, if you want a little bit of advice. Starting point is 00:16:12 Let me just have a look. You just can't do the same one more than once. Point. Ah. Point. This is the custom, this is a custom homebrew barbarian path. Yeah. Blood fury.
Starting point is 00:16:24 When writing a blood weapon, you damage a creature with a melee weapon attack or a thrown weapon for the first time on a turn. Okay. So you've gained another blood point because you've attacked these two creatures. Yeah, I will throw Verasty. Because it's like you almost like you create
Starting point is 00:16:42 like a blood version of Verasty and you like throw it out. It like targets them because of the blood in this person I'm throwing at. Love it. So you can target Jamison. Oh, target Jamison. Hell yeah. He throws the blood, he made a blood knife. Is this just a standard just... It's a Verasty attack, yeah. You just make a Verasty attack where you have, if it comes at range throwing weapon of up to 20 feet I believe.
Starting point is 00:17:03 Eleven. Eleven is not enough. no, unfortunately he will, now that he's no longer paralyzed, he brings his shield up as this kind of blood splatters all across his shield. Amazing, and then I will bonus action and get into rage. Bonus action rage?
Starting point is 00:17:18 Yeah. He had his crossbow out. He can like switch, like, I would have said that like, because I think he actually, no, I think he dropped it and drew his stuff out before he flopped into the, he did have his crossbow out and then he drew his shield and axe.
Starting point is 00:17:29 Yeah. So that is my last rage and yeah, she's just powered by this new blood power. Love it. End of turn? Yes. Well my cultist is fully dead. So we go straight to Daisy now.
Starting point is 00:17:44 What would you guys like Daisy to do? I mean she's now pretty far away right? Yeah there is nothing really ready for her to attack. Can she attack Jameson? No because she's her range is 60 feet on her like can I go up and speak to her? Yeah, you can tell her what to do. It's free action speak, yeah. I was super convinced by your impression of the guard. Okay. Can you pretend to be the statue's voice?
Starting point is 00:18:16 Yes. Okay. The statue of Saint Talon, though. Yes. And Talon's male? Yes. Yeah. Yep. Those are all correct questions, though. Yes. And Talon's male? Yes. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:25 Yep. Those are all correct questions, yes. What's your, anyway, it's not your turn. Rowan, what are you saying? I don't know. It's fine. What do you want me to do? I will gesticulate the statue to the people
Starting point is 00:18:42 that are scared and try and rally them to help us. And I think through the statue might be enough. Couldn't you just like do that? Yeah. Yeah. I could do that, yeah. I mean maybe that makes more sense. You're better at this than me.
Starting point is 00:18:56 You wanna go stab something? I think I'm gonna go hide, I think maybe. I mean, my suggestion is she would make the hide action maybe go downstairs, like. I'm just wondering if it's like hold action to attack whatever comes up the stairs. I think the problem is, is right now, these guys, these guys, only Xanthius and Ophelia
Starting point is 00:19:15 have seen what's coming. Right. You guys don't know about what's happening yet. Cause like there's not been any sort of shout of alarm or anything like that yet. Not even the chanting? I think, well, maybe actually, yeah, no, that's true, actually. You would have heard the chant, that's right.
Starting point is 00:19:30 Yeah, you would have heard chanting, Magmox and his voice. Like, oh, I think they're here. Someone's throwing it down down there. The problem is, is again, her range is only 60 feet. She's not a ranged character, really. Like, I know Daisy does a lot of throwing daggers, but like, that will literally only get it to like here.
Starting point is 00:19:47 So like she could ready to throw a knife. I think it makes sense if she's, she starts trying to make her way down from the tavern. Yep, she can hide action as well so that she's hidden on the way down. Because she'll hop off the, out the window. Yeah. She unlocks them, bounces off the top of their fabric.
Starting point is 00:20:03 Moves herself in with the crowd and then make her way to more famous. Yeah... Do you want us to do that? Yeah, that's cool. In that case, I will have Daisy make an Acrobatics check to kind of tumble out the window first. Tumble out the window. 13. I will...
Starting point is 00:20:20 Psy-powered Knack. If you fail an ability check, I can spend... Oh no, I don't even... Do I spend a point for it? Oh yeah, no, I do, yeah, so it's one of my... So I will do Si-Bolstered Knack to boost that to a 15, which is just enough. So I'll mark off one of her Radiant Points. So you watch, and I think that that side bolstered,
Starting point is 00:20:45 the radiant bolstered Knack, sorry, is there's some sort of element of Nym here which kind of takes over Daisy. She tumbles out and she's gonna use a movement to drop down, maybe drop down sort of over here, move over here, and then take the hide action as a bonus action. That person's not on the cultist side that's in front of the door, are they?
Starting point is 00:21:06 Because they were asking for the guard. Oh, they were, is there still one there? There is one there. I forgot, I'll tell you what. They've converted now to our side of the boat. They've changed their mind. Absolutely not. I had completely forgotten they were there,
Starting point is 00:21:18 thank you for that. I couldn't even see them. They are just like... They are like a little blonde character hidden by this, where it's like, hidden behind this like little market stand. I think Daisy lands and you see this woman is like drawing out like a ritual blade,
Starting point is 00:21:32 looking like she's ready to charge in and Daisy has not used her action yet so she can just turn her, ah! Throw a knife at this girl. So we wouldn't have sneak attack but, won't have sneak attack but, unless they're surprised. No, I'm gonna say that this is just going to be a normal attack.
Starting point is 00:21:48 Doesn't matter, I got one shot anyway, watch this. Bam. Watch this drive. Kill shot. 15 hits. D6 plus five. You're the best rogue in the world. Eight points of damage, not quite enough.
Starting point is 00:22:00 So I'll use her bonus action to attack with the other blade instead of hiding. Yeah. Bonus action. Yeah, the other blade instead of hiding. Yeah, yeah. Bonus action. Yeah, I completely forgot about that guard. Oh, actually only a three on the roll. So I'm using D&D Beyond to roll by the way. So she throws the first psychic blade, takes the woman in the shoulder,
Starting point is 00:22:17 but doesn't quite do enough to do it. Daisy throws a second knife, but this time the woman lurches forward ready to try and strike as yeah, she's gonna be unable to, and so yeah, Daisy's panicked by this thing that appears there, but she is out of the building, she's down there behind some cover, that is gonna be Daisy's turn. One more regular cultist remains.
Starting point is 00:22:38 Yes, after Daisy, we go down to, these are my, where are my three, Xanthias, no sorry, Gruff and Rowan. I was gonna say, that'd be amazing if it was. Rowan. I am still eagle, Hannah's still in front of me. I'm gonna- Pick out the eyes. Keep attacking. Okay.
Starting point is 00:22:57 Keep squawking away. Yeah, if you don't, like she will kill Ser Joran Harper. 14 to attack. Against Hannah, I believe is gonna hit because she doesn't have any armor on. That would have normally missed, but because she doesn't have her armor on, she was prepared for the festival,
