Hello, welcome to episode 100 of High Roller's Hero's Campaign.
That's a big Coggers in chair.
Welcome, everyone, to episode 100 of High Rollers D&D.
Last time on Herois,
the party have traveled to the mysterious weapons facility
overseen by Democles Magrona of Gusthaven
and working in conjunction with Kallus Valkyrian.
Successfully sneaking through the docks level,
the party have managed to make it to the courtyard of Shadow Song Pinnacle,
a snowy keep floating amidst the mountains of the north.
The facility appears to use magical keystones to secure different areas,
and after investigating one of the open buildings,
the party engaged a group of soldiers and found a level one keystone
that allowed them access into an armory below the barracks
where they encountered a strange foe.
And that is where we are going to pick up today,
my dear friends.
So if everybody
is ready to play some D&D,
I will...
The last thing that we kind of saw
as you guys moved into this
forge, kind of like
a mixture of a forge and a temple
combined into one
at the back of this kind of armory.
The kind of
shimmering field of force
appears behind you, sealing the door.
And stood over this anvil,
you can see all sorts of like furnace
and hot coals and trenching troughs all around them,
but stood in the center of four pillars
with chains all around you,
kind of connecting to the pillars and the floors
and the walls and the ceilings.
Stood there, in front of this
anvil, is a man in a kind of
long leather coat with almost
priest-like vestments underneath it.
And he introduced
himself as Reverend
Ossolan,
the master of the forge here.
And he raised up his hand, and a
glowing, almost flame-like gun
appeared in his grip, and he welcomed you to his sermon. And that is pretty much where we're going
to kick off today. You can see, as I've drawn here, there are these four pillars, which are
quite, they're about five feet,
maybe just a little bit wider than five feet on each side.
They go all the way up to the ceiling.
The ceiling is only about sort of 20 feet high.
So there's not a lot of room to maneuver.
And stretched all across the chamber are these quite thin,
or some are various, like in various different thicks and thinness,
are these chains that connect various parts
of the temple to these pillars,
to the floor, to the ground.
You see this reverend
kind of stood in front of you.
He just kind of laughs maniacally.
We're going to begin, my dear
friends, by rolling
initiative.
Wow. Straight away. Boom.
Now, Zors. Oh. Straight away. Boom. Now, Zors.
Oh.
Not great. Hell yeah.
Not great.
Right. So, let's go round the table.
Lucius. I got a
21.
One.
Kelek.
I got a seven.
Seven.
Aayla.
22. Two. 7. Aayla. 22.
Century.
16.
16.
Nova Vija.
14.
14.
So he raises,
the Reverend kind of raises this flaming, golden,
almost made of light firearm and kind of brings it down low.
Welcome to my sermon.
Let's get to work, shall we?
And Aayla, you're the kind of first to react,
see him beginning to bring the weapon to bear.
There is no real, he doesn't seem to seem to
show any sign of wanting to talk okay then i can do that um i will first of all i will rage
and i'll just run at him with the howling tempest okay so before you around the things as you begin moving
towards him you can see that stretch between the two pillars directly in front of you is this it's
it's like a network like a web of various chains you've got two options you can either try and make
an acrobatics check to try and move through it without uh risking any um without losing any speed
or you can basically spend 20 feet of movement
to move through the area with the chain,
because you can kind of slowly try and kind of entrapment
your way through Catherine Zeta-Jones,
your way through this web of chains.
Let me just check my movement here.
I'll give up 20 feet of movement
because I've got 45.
I could still reach him,
so I'll give up my movement
and just clamber on through.
20, so 25.
30 gets you to here,
so just on the other side of the anvil.
I've got 45.
Yep, so yeah, which way do you want to go round? it's up to you how do you want to reach him the anvil is very large it's
like this almost like an altar you know like a stone altar you could hop on top of it um or you
could jump over to the other side oh could i hop on top of it and then come down on his noggin?
Sure.
Because that sounds cooler.
Yeah, you can stand on top of the anvil for sure.
I will hit him.
Okay, as you go to make the attack, he's going to use his reaction.
Oh, little bitch. he's going to use his reaction you can see that this reverend, he
almost like, he just doesn't seem to be
that phased by you rushing to attack him
and as you leap up, just almost with a
flick of his wrist, this golden
firearm
explodes with a shot, he's going to make a
shot at you with
his weapon, that is going to be
a 20 to hit. Sorry, yeah,
20 to hit. Yes.
Okay.
So the firearm
crackles and this kind of blast
of energy and fire erupts out of it.
You're going to take
10 points of force damage
and... Sorry, hang on a minute.
That cut out for me. My internet went bad. I'm going to take
what damage?
10 points of force damage.
Okay.
And then 14 fire damage.
As this thing erupts and just kind of catches you in the chest.
And I need you to make a constitution
saving throw.
Sorry, you're going to have to repeat that damage to me
in total after I make this save
because it literally crackled up for me.
Oh, he's just rolling that 20. okay nice so it's 29. uh so yep you succeed in the save i'll explain
this in a minute you take 10 force and 14 fire damage so 24 damage total um none of which you
can half unfortunately as it's's not normal weapon damage.
The blast catches you, and you can see that it's been designed to try and throw your attack off kilter.
But you manage to kind of power through the pain, so you make your attack as normal.
You don't have any disadvantage on the attack roll.
Okay.
That is a... 22 to hit.
22 will hit.
So he tries to duck out of the way of it.
Just like, ah!
So that one is going to be
a
18 points of damage on the first one
okay
18 points
the second one 11 plus 13
so another hit
I believe
24 yep that's a hit
oh same damage again
18 did I say
18
and Dex saving throw plus
can you do that on the same turn you rage because it's a bonus action yep we've been through it 18. And Dex saving throw plus...
Can you do that on the same turn you rage?
Because it's a bonus action.
Yep, we've been through it.
Nice, natural 20 for me.
So kind of leap to the side as the lightning blasts out.
Okay.
Oh, I rolled two sixes.
That's never happened in my life.
Hang on.
So 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, because I had my constitution.
So 16 halved.
So eight.
Eight damage. So 8.
So the lightning blast kind of catches him, and he seems to use this momentum.
Is that the end of your turn?
Yes.
At the end of your turn, he's going to use one of his legendary actions
to quick escape, which allows him
to move without provoking opportunity attacks.
Yeah.
And he ducks behind one of these covers so as he gets blasted by the lightning
he kind of tucks and rolls
sweeping out of your reach
it's just like yes you're quite the fighter
let's see how the rest of you
deal with it
you just hear this kind of like laugh
he's Lucius.
I can't believe I didn't get this reference
all of last episode.
I'm going to
move as close as I can to this
chain, up to here I assume.
And he's ducked behind, you think
I didn't actually see where the token went.
Was it around?
If you can't see his token where it went
he moved behind
the top right hand column
of the room
okay
if I were to do a
Tasha's Caustic Brew
which is a streak of acid
in a straight line
would that hit Ayla he would currently be covered by it which is a streak of acid in a straight line,
would that hit Ayla?
He would currently be covered by it. If it's a straight line from you,
there would be cover from it, if it's a line.
I'm going to try and move through these chains then.
So yeah, it's a 20 foot of your movement, basically.
Oh, okay.
So I just get to the other side of it then, really?
Okay, so you're still quite close to the chains,
but you're kind of moving your way through them,
like delicately placing a leg and kind of having to duck under,
being careful not to touch them.
You can see, Lucius, you and Ayla would have seen these chains.
You're trying to avoid touching them.
I mean, I don't know why you guys are worried about it,
but you can see that the chains are embedded into the walls.
Moving close to that corner,
you can see that there is like a round sphere
embedded where the chain is connected to.
Okay.
I'm going to try and cast Vitriolic Sphere
in the area where I think he went.
Sure.
Yep.
It's a 20 foot radius.
So if it hits that area
it's a dex of 17
saving throw.
So whereabouts are you placing it?
Kind of just around the corner of that
pillar I'd say.
Sort of like around here?
Yeah. Okay, cool.
Nice. So you launch the sphere
out and it's a dex save, yes? Yep. Okay. Explodes Nice. So you launch the sphere out, and it's a deck save, yes?
Yep.
Okay.
Explosion of 20-foot radius.
Explosion of acid.
That is going to be...
That is fucking hell.
That is going to be 22.
Yeah, that was safe.
I'm just going to roll the damage and you can half it.
Sure.
31 halved to 15.
You do hear a kind of like, ah, the sorcerer.
Democles has told me about you.
Can I use my dichromancy to hit the
chain behind me or is it a mash of chain a mesh of chains it's like a mesh it's like a network
of them so it's it's on the map it's only going to appear as one because obviously i wasn't going
to draw hundreds of chains but it's like a like a web of them like all stretched between the two
columns and some of them connected to the floor and the ceiling.
Where they go to a sphere on the floor, can I attack that?
You can, yes.
When the acid...
Are you attacking the orb or the chain?
The orb.
Right.
When the acid hits the thing,
you do hear a kind of...
The chains all do kind of separate.
I need you to...
I've got to just check something here, Chris Trott.
Where did I put it?
In lair actions?
I put it in lair, didn't I?
I need you to make a dexterity saving throw, please, Chris Trott.
Very well.
That is a 20.
20. You're going to take half damage.
As the acid hits the orb, you hear this kind of fizzling pop,
and as the chains are separated from it,
there is this explosion of force reminiscent of when you were attacked in Gusthaven.
It's going to be 9...
19...
Oh, I see.
24, half to 12 points of force damage.
So they just appear like metal spheres,
like these round metal spheres, but
as soon as the acid hits one and
separates the chain, or the chain
reverberates from the spell, this thing
detonates, and you manage
to kind of tuck and pull yourself
away visually the the chains look like they connect to the um the orb right that's what i
said yeah yeah okay cool so lucius it looks like a a connection point of chains where by hitting that
would loosen the chains and they wouldn't be in the way yeah that's what you thought yeah but it
seems to be that when you hit it, this is some sort of
explosive device and you
it seems that anything that touches the chains
or the orbs, it causes
this detonation and you take
12 points of force damage.
Don't touch the chains!
As I get myself
up off the floor over the next 6 seconds.
You managed to kind of like
avoid some of it, but yeah, you still took some of the
damage as it kind of flew off. Just a visual
warning to everybody.
Really? Yeah.
You've done great work there.
At the end of your turn,
there is a flash of light
and fire. He's going to shoot at
you, Lucius.
He does, even though you can't see him.
That's going to be a 24
to hit. Yeah.
That'll do it.
15. So
15 points of force damage
followed by 10 fire damage.
Do I still have my
temp HP from the previous combat
or is that just kind of gone now?
I don't know how long Armored Vagabond lasts.
I'm going to say it's gone so 15
15 force 10 fire
holy moly
and you see that the actual
shot ricochets off the
the wall behind where you
were he seems to aim there and then
it bounces back and kind of catches you in the shoulder
like ugh kind of bounces
six shots more than enough to kill anything that moves Then it bounces back and kind of passes you in the show like ah kind of bounces
Six shots more than enough to kill anything that moves
on
His turn he will over
He's gonna move a little bit
I've got to not try and touch these,
some of the things that I've put on this map.
I mean, traps.
These traps go all over the place.
Is that what you're trying to say, Mark?
Tramps.
Don't touch the traps.
You'd want to stay as far away from them as much as possible.
You hear kind of like the sound of boots on metal grates.
And you can see, by the way, the floor of this room,
there are these vents all around the outside of the room,
like these grills set into the floor where steam is coming from.
And anybody stood in one of these vents there is like this heat rising it
creates that kind of shimmering mirage effect um and then who's he gonna look at uh he's gonna
make one shot at ayla and one shot at nova um can i protect ayla, okay, we'll come to that in a minute, Sentry.
So you're trying to protect Nova, right?
Ayla, that is only a 15.
That will not hit, no.
Okay, so you managed to kind of like leap out of the way
as this shot echoes, like ricochets past you.
Sentry, we'll see if it actually hits first.
That is a natural 20 against Nova
you go to raise your shield
where you suspect the bullet will come from
but the bullet bounces
off two walls and the pillar
and catches Nova right in the side of the neck
you cannot cause
his shots to be at disadvantage
his aim is
unnaturally supernaturally guided
he's just like bouncing bullets off the walls
and things like that as it bounces around
that's pretty awesome
sorry Nova this is going to hurt
as this is a natural 20
unless you've got something like a reaction
you want to do or anything like that
I don't have reactions
well you've got like tomb of la vistos right
you can activate that
on full health nah Well, you've got, like, Tomb of Lovistas, right? You can activate that.
On full health?
Nah.
Okay.
27 points of force damage. I have to take damage to activate it.
Okay.
27 points of force damage.
Done.
And then 33 points of fire damage.
What the hell?
I mean, I'm fine.
Yeah.
This thing hurts bad when it hits, especially on a crit.
And I need you to make a strength saving throw,
please, Nova.
Oh, I'm really good at those.
Like, so good.
I rolled a seven minus two, five.
Okay.
Tiangong goes flying ten feet out of your hand,
and he's going to drive it to the side.
Oh, well. How dare. going to drive it to the side.
Oh, wow.
How dare?
He's pulling out all the stops.
Yeah.
So, 10 feet to your...
What's that side?
Left.
Had to think there.
He kind of catches you and the force
of the shot, like,
flying out of your hand to think there. Yeah, he kind of catches you and the force of the shot, like Tiangong goes flying out of your hand to the side.
Let's see how good you are without that weapon,
little one.
Century.
I would like to use some of my
Lay on Hands points, please, on Nova.
I'm probably going to chuck
35 in.
Sure. You are within range. that's your action yeah that's my action yeah and then i would like to try and just move up a little bit um 10
all right so again if you want any area with a chain you can either move through it at full
speed but you have to make an acrobatics check to try and avoid touching it. Or you can spend 20 feet of movement to just kind of
slowly make your way through the chains.
Can I
Misty Step over them?
Oh, you can definitely do that, yeah. Any teleportation,
you can go through it, no problem.
Nova, yes.
Sorry, how many points
of healing was that? Oh, sorry, yeah,
30.
Thank you, love you. It's alright.
Yeah, I'll Misty
step the 30 feet ahead
over the chains. Sure, yeah.
Where do you want to go?
You tell me. Up
to here, so where, like, Ayla
is by the anvil. Next to the anvil.
Perfect. Yeah. Okay, so
in a kind of swirl of mist
you heal Ayla with the power of the
matrix and then appear
on the other side in the center of the room.
Cool. Nice.
Cool.
That is me good.
Nova Vija.
So I'm going to
move to the left. 5, 10, 15
to grab my sword., 10, 15.
To grab my sword.
To grab Tian Yun.
So I have the ring of free action.
Would that work on these chains?
What does it say?
So it says, while you wear this ring, difficult terrain doesn't cost you extra movement.
So this isn't difficult terrain.
This isn't like you're being actively slowed
down. You could just move through and
like jostle these chains and like push
them out the way. No problem. You could move through
it. It's if you don't
want to touch them, you have to go
slowly or you make an acrobatics
check to kind of like
tuck and roll and do a somersault
through it kind of thing. Like do cool acrobatic slides and stuff um i can't quite see him can i um where where i am
actually where where he could so i nova would have no uh known that he's kind of gone you've
seen where he's roughly the room yeah do I see one of those balls anywhere near him?
The kind of thing that Lucius shot at?
I mean, you can definitely see them on the chains and stuff like that.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Anywhere where a chain connects to?
The closest one you could see is right next to the very top of the
forge itself at the top of the room
a chain is coming out the top right
pillar and connects to the
large furnace, the forge
itself
that seems to be the only one that you can see
close by
and I can't see him right now
unless you can see him
on the map, I don't think you can from your point of view.
Okay.
So I would
like to...
Yeah.
I would like to fire a
tentative Eldritch Blast.
So I know Eldritch Blast, I have
three beams, but I'd like to
fire one at this ball
and see what happens, then you know maybe fire
the other two depending on what happens um yeah and it's not just like you know one ball uh there
are lots of them all connected to lots of different chains but you can definitely fire one at that
area that you've seen yeah for sure uh 26 to hit yeah it hits um and as it strikes it uh you do the impact of the force um yeah i think
that this would be it disturbs the chain yeah again there is this kind of eruption of force
energy all around that that network of chains like from the side of the wall there's this kind of
explosion um um you can kind of see like the haziness of this smoke rising up from the vents
is dispersed and kind of shattered,
but you're not quite sure if it's done anything or not to him.
Okay.
And I guess I probably don't hear any sort of feedback.
You don't hear it yell or anything like that, no.
Yeah, okay.
Nope.
Not sure.
You can definitely activate them.
Has this board broken?
Okay.
That one has, but there are many more set into this there are many more set into the same area okay so it looks like if somebody
moved through that area you're still going to have to risk the chains and setting off more of
these devices can i use my remaining two beams to um fire, fire at two more balls, but ones that are kind of far away from everyone.
So no one gets hurt.
Um,
so I guess in a similar area to the North where,
where.
Near the,
the forge itself.
Um,
yeah.
Yeah.
I mean,
you can destroy it.
You destroy a couple more on that side.
wherever the,
the other side of the chain is,
cause it's connected to two points and it's like a network of all these different ones, right?
There must be some on the back of the pillar
that you can't see to target,
so there will still be some explosives there.
But the ones on that side,
you've definitely shot a bunch of them,
and you hear this kind of rapid explosions
kind of going off of force energy.
Okay.
Yeah.
And then, yeah, I'm out of stuff,
so I will just hunker down where I am.
Cool. Okay.
After Nova's turn,
it is Da.
Moon Star.
She will attempt to acrobatics her way
through one of these chains, because she's fairly good at acrobatics.
She kind of
does like a ducking slide, and then
kind of pulls a
kind of, you know,
gymnastic maneuver, and manages to make
her way to the other side. 5, 10, 15,
20,
25, 30.
She kind of looks around.
I can't see him.
We should spread out.
Maybe if we can corner him, he won't be able to go anywhere.
And then she's going to spend the rest of her movement moving up here.
And then she says, like, he's in this corner
and just points in the direction.
But that's going to be her whole turn to move up.
Helic and Kalar.
The corner she pointed at was to the right of the room, right?
Yeah, top right.
Okay, and these chains, are they floor-to-ceiling?
They catch, like, some of them are floor-to-ceiling,
some of them are up high in the room, some of them are down low.
It's like a kind of crisscross network pattern.
You won't be able to fly over them.
You'll be under the same restrictions as everyone else.
Right, okay.
In that case, I'll do 5, 10, and then the rest of my movement to kind of use that.
So I go over the right side.
Okay, yeah, you should be able to see him now, I think.
Yeah, I can see him.
And he's a dexterous boy,
so I'm going to cast Sacred Flame on him,
which is a dex save.
Okay.
Great.
What's the DC?
21.
Well, I rolled a 1, so that's an 11.
Nice.
Well, it's 3d8 plus 6, so...
Deal. 14 damage to him, radiant damage.
And then I will cast, for a bonus action, Shield of Faith on myself.
Okay, great. End of your turn?
End of my turn.
Hmm. He will save his legendary action um ayla
hello i am going to so given that moon star said he's up there
one ten fifteen twenty twenty five and then i'm going to use the rest of my movement to get under here.
So, 1, 5, 10, 15, 20.
So that would be 40 feet to get to where you currently are.
Boop.
Hit him in the face.
Yep.
Your accelerated movement.
20 to hit?
20 will hit, just.
Okay.
Oh, same damage as before.
I keep rolling 7s on my D10 today.
So 18 on the first one.
And then...
Oh, this one might not hit.
I don't think this will hit.
I rolled a 4 plus 13, so 17.
That won't hit.
That's not a hit.
He ducks under the hammer blow.
Dex save.
Dex save.
That is a 19.
So I rolled 12, so he takes half of that,
so he takes six lightning damage.
That's more lightning damage points.
You can see that these hammer blows,
this continuous unrelenting assault,
he does not seem to be made for melee combat,
and he definitely is showing where you can see
him breathing and sweating heavily.
Yes, you're quite the warrior.
I wonder how you'll fare against the rest of our forces.
And then he will use his legendary action, his last one, to do the same thing and roll away from you.
You can see when he moves, the chains don't seem to impede him.
He just moves straight through them as if they weren't there.
So we can go 5, 10...
What, like a ghost?
Yeah, when he moves through them, they just
phase through him.
Crazy.
25,
30...
Are we in a dream? He kind of rolls to the south,
kind of dodging out of
Aayla's reach, staring up
towards Sentry, really. Lucius
Virion, Elowen, Elanasto.
I can see him now.
So what I'm going to
do is cast
the best spell
ever called
Lucius' Luscious Light
in that area. It's
20 foot so I'd like to kind of dome
it so it kind it hits the back
wall.
Yeah, and not our guys.
Please.
That's the best you can do, yeah.
It's a really good deck save
by him. So, 17.
17?
Yeah, that's 29.
All right.
So, sweet.
It's still a blinded area.
So, you'll be taking 2d6 halved.
Also, you take half damage from... Actually, no, you don't take any from the last Vitriolic Sphere.
So, this is nine
down to three four uh okay four sweet um and that is not even one of my dichromants it's cold so i
will dichromancy here's the problem you can't see into the area can you you can't see into the area, can you? You can't see him.
No, I can't.
A dichromantian would need to be able to see them.
You're right.
I could hit another bomb, but I won't.
You could?
I've learned my lesson.
No? Okay.
So you conjure this sphere of orange and blue light that kind of occupies that section of this temple, this chamber,
kind of filling the area with light.
The chains, the steam,
everything becomes obscured
by this pulsating orange-blue light.
All right, I'm hoping if we can hold him there,
he can't shoot us, but he probably can.
So there we go.
Do you think I need my eyes to see and shoot?
I am led by the way of the forge, by the way of flames, by the way of the gun.
On his turn, he's going to do a couple of things.
First things first, he's going to drink a potion.
You guys aren't the only ones with potions, lol.
A healing potion or a cool guy potion?
Gotta tap up my cool
almost turned into a nerd
and then you hear just this like
master of the forge
of ancient technologies come to my aid
I need everybody except for Century and Lucius
to roll a
dexterity saving throw as the grills,
these vents that you're standing on,
just...
These columns of flames erupt.
Oh, gamer grills.
Nova, you are technically on one.
I just didn't put it on the map.
The whole area around
the side is... I would have kind of area around the side. Well, that's misleading.
I would have moved otherwise.
Dex, yeah.
Sorry.
24.
I get advantage on that.
Woo, woo.
Half damage.
I mean, the only place you could have moved over
is the other side of the chain
is the only other place you could have gone.
I still had 15 feet of movement, so...
Well, you wouldn't have been able to do it safely.
What's the radius
in centuries, Laura?
10 feet.
Yeah, so nobody gets there.
You're a bit out there.
You're a bit out there.
Anybody get below 17?
Yep.
Quilly?
Quilly Quill?
Just Quill?
Alright, the rest of you take half damage.
Rad chicken!
It's only 21, so 21 fire damage to Quill, everybody else takes 10 fire damage.
Cool, I'll make a constitution save
for the shield of faith
Oh, good boy
And then Quill, he's gonna
kind of dash out of the
out of the flames
behind you, out of this sphere
Yeah, but next to me though
He's next to you, yeah
Yeah, I don't like yeah I don't like that
I don't like that one bit
how does your heathen titan god
feel about firebird
it's entry
um okey dokey
he's gone back uh let's see
he's being a little like
running around the outside
using the chains and pillars
at the speed of sound
okay I'm gonna bonus
action
I'm going to use
my where are you friend
harness divine power and regain
a spell slot
at level
level 3 nice extra skills back nice nice nice that's a bonus action
bonus action great great i will should i missed you step back i'll misty step back uh
five ten fifteen twenty twenty five i'll go like I'll go here to try and cut him off.
You have to go to a point you can see.
Teleportation.
Oh, actually, it's a bonus action.
Oh, it's a bonus action, of course it is.
I forget. I'll move as far as I can then with the 30 feet. I've got 5, 10...
So 5, 10, and then you can get to here.
If you're careful from the chains.
Cool.
At the end of your turn, Sentry, Quill,
you look down as the Reverend brings this kind of flaming golden gun and he's going to fan the hammer, one of his legendary actions.
He rapidly just...
in your direction.
He's going to make three attacks against you. Three?
What?
The first attack, luckily, I rolled very
badly. It's only a 12.
Cool. Good. Great.
The next one is 23.
Cool. Can't even shield it.
The next one is 27.
Even worse. What? Are you going to die? Cool, can't even shield it. The next one is 27. Oh, my God.
Even worse.
Are you going to die?
First attack that hit, 10 force, and then 14 fire.
Oh, wow.
For one?
Yeah, he does like 4d10 damage when he hits.
You guys are 13th level.
Jesus.
You noted that damage down, Tom? Or are you gonna do something?
Second attack is 8 force damage and 8 fire damage.
Strength saving throw, please.
Uh, okay.
You pass free on this one.
You do.
Nice! You are pushed, what is this, 15 feet? pass free on this one. You do. Nice.
You are pushed 15 feet.
He pushes you 15 feet into
Lucius' light. He's just like
the force of the blast
sends you flying.
What he pushes is limp, by the way,
because I'm down.
Oh, great. Jesus!
He just powers this into your chest.
Just bam, bam, bam, bam, bam.
You go to one.
Yeah.
Gone over?
I go to one.
Explain it.
One point, yeah.
He goes to one because of Pact of the Tome,
because of my thing.
Gift of the Protectors.
Shield of Faith.
Oh, no, actually, because you don't actually go to
zero so concentration check
for shield of faith
made two um and i got
15 and 19 so
um the 15
you took how much damage
in that first attack like 24 18
i think and then
oh no i took like 30 something
um i i think it's gone on the first Shield of Faith,
because I think the DC...
Let's say, no, it's not.
You can keep the Shield of Faith,
because I can't remember how much damage I dealt.
Okay, all right.
Yeah.
Cool.
You are on one hit point.
Yeah.
Well, here's the other thing,
is he pushed you through a bunch of these chains.
I need you to make a dexterity saving throw.
As he pushed you through a bunch of these chains. I need you to make a dexterity saving throw. As he pushed you through this network of chains,
like you can try and kind of contort yourself as you are thrown through them.
So Nova saved me from the killing blow from him,
but now I'm also taking damage from the chains.
Yeah.
You might succeed.
21.
You do succeed.
It's going to be half damage.
Is it?
Is it one?
Yep.
It doesn't matter what the damage is.
It's like five points of damage.
So you take two points of damage.
Great.
Hey, I'm done.
As like Nova, your book, like as he takes the blow in the chest,
the magic of Tiangong manages to kind of protect him
at the last second, but then he's thrown back.
He manages to kind of tuck his little bird form
in between these chains, brushes up against one,
and there's just this explosion from the column
that, like, sends him rocketing to the side,
and a little unconscious quill is somewhere
in this orange-blue sphere of light.
How do injury checks work again?
Con save?
Yeah, con save, please.
DC 10.
12.
12, you're fine.
Woof!
Nova Vigia.
Oh, my God.
Okay.
So I can see him, and he is within 30 feet.
So first of all, I would like to use my bonus action to cast Hexblade Curse.
He's not within 30 feet.
He's 35 feet away from you.
5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30.
Yeah, it's the square just before him is the 30 foot one.
You could just move five feet.
Then I'll move five feet this way and cast Hexblade Curse on him.
Cool.
And then I am going to...
Quick question.
When you cast something like a 40-foot cube,
but obviously given the space of the room,
does that cube, it can't go through a wall?
You can't position it through a wall. You can't position it through a wall.
You can't start it through a wall.
So it has to start at a wall, basically.
Same with, like, when I did the spheres,
I put the sphere, the origin point on the wall, basically.
Tom, can you make a deck saving throw?
Because when a creature ends its turn in Lucius's Luscious Light,
it needs to make a deck save,? Because when a creature ends its turn in Lucius's Luscious Light, it needs to make a deck save,
which I think you fail automatically.
Because you're
unconscious.
In that case, no, I won't make a deck save
because I fail it automatically.
You take an automatic death save. Just one.
It's not two. It's just one automatic death save.
Because a creature takes 2d6 acid damage
if it ends its turn in Lucius's Light.
Any creature that starts its turn
will take its damage.
Any creature that ends its turn
must succeed on a deck saving throw.
Although, it wasn't my turn.
Oh, that's true.
You're right. That was a legendary action.
Very, very well pointed out.
Very, very good point.
I had forgotten that. It wasn't your turn.
Mark, what's your plan for episode one?
What's your plan?
It's not that strong.
Alright, so, Nova.
Happy birthday.
I'd like to
celebrate Tom's 50th
birthday by
casting Blight.
50th birthday, I'd like to cast Blight, please.
Con save.
Which is con save 18.
It's not amazing at these.
That's only a 16.
I'm going to spend my one legendary resistance
to make it a success instead.
You're a poo now.
It takes half damage.
I'm a poo.
I'm a big poo. I'm a big DM poo a big DM poo
well
oh god this is gonna take
let me just get my calculator
I should have got my calculator out
go Raz on Tom while I
figure this out
8 plus
8 plus
3 plus 7 plus 5 Nina's gonna be so mad figure this out. 8 plus. 8 plus. If you kill someone in this,
Nina's going to be so mad
because she just finished the new artwork.
Yeah, she will. I'll deal with it though.
Don't worry.
I rolled a fairly
deeply under average
39.
39, so half to 19.
Half to 19?
Yeah.
You see the dark tendrils,
this black space-like
energy crackle along Tiangong
and you see him kind of
He's
not looking good.
He doesn't look like he's having a lot of fun.
Would I add...
No, it's a damage roll.
Is that a damage roll?
Because can I add five to that with my Hexblade Curse?
Does it say damage roll or like weapon attacks?
If it says damage roll...
It says damage roll, yeah.
Against the curse target, you gain a plus five bonus to damage roll.
So, yeah, another five points of damage to him.
Yeah, interesting. I wonder how that works with him
saving and taking half damage.
Does he half that
extra 5? I'll look into that.
I'll take 5 for now, but I'll look into that.
Moonstar,
who
I actually forgot to make a save for against the fire.
Oh, she failed. I want to move
as well with my last bit of movement.
So is it double movement to go carefully over these chains?
It costs 20 feet of movement.
It's four times movement to, like, carefully kind of step through them.
So 25.
Okay.
Yeah.
I've moved.
Yeah, you can get to that.
Perfect.
Oh, here's an idea
oh she can't see him
i'll leave that actually
uh oh what's he doing
got plans again i hate when he has plans
this is moonstar's plans these are good plans
moonstar's trying to think of
she can't see quill's body um she's seen I hate when he has plans. This is Moonstar's plans. These are good plans. Moonstar's trying to think of... You don't love when you have plans.
The problem is she can't see Quill's body.
She's seen Quill get thrown into it.
Okay, she moves up next to Nova
and pulls out her little grapple launcher,
fires it, and then is going to try and twist her way
through two of these chains
to try and get to him.
Wow.
Oh, dear.
First one is a failure,
but the second one's a success.
So when she passes through this one,
Lucius and Sentry and Moonstar
all need to make dex saving throws.
Okay.
Sixteen.
Oh, reee!
Nice!
You got twenty?
Nice.
Not twenty!
Oh, we got twenty on that one?
So ten halved for Lucius and Sentry.
Oh, sorry, not Lucius. It's DC seventeen. You got sixteen, right for Lucius and Sentry. Oh, sorry, not Lucius. It's DC 17.
You got 16, right, Lucius?
So it's 10 force damage to Moonstar and Lucius.
And then five to Sentry.
Moonstar is within Sentry's aura, though.
Would she get the plus three?
She rolled a four.
She did.
She got like a four on the saving throw.
It was bad.
But she does manage to zip through this
kind of explosion she kind of batman grapples through one of the chains she hits and causes
this explosion and then the next set she kind of slips through um she's gonna land beside this guy
and then make two attacks uh with her lightning fists because i got damaged can i willingly drop
lucius's luscious light or do I have to roll the con save and take it?
I think you can end it voluntarily on your turn.
Let's have a look.
That's a great question.
Don't know.
It's concentration.
It's a concentration spell, yeah,
but I don't know if you can just choose to willingly drop a spell.
I got damaged, though. Yeah, yeah, but I don't know if you can just choose to willingly drop a spell. I got damage, though.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
It augments it.
I mean, you'll be making a constitution saving throw anyway.
You can always voluntarily fail a saving throw.
Yeah.
It also says you can end concentration at any time, no action required.
Oh, there you go. Bam.
So you could have ended it anyway.
Drop it now.
Makes sense. So you could have ended it. Drop it now. Makes sense.
So
light vanishes
away.
And then, right, I was wrong
on these attacks from the start and then I got distracted.
First attack
will miss. She kind of swings one of her
lightning charged fists with these
strange artifice-like devices.
The second one however will
hit.
D8 plus 4.
Rerolling ones. Oh a 2. Excellent.
6 points of damage.
She kind of like
gets one punch on the side of him
into his ribs and you see this kind of like
light kind of burst through
and then she will mark him
as her mark of vengeance and reduce his speed by 10 feet. So as she kind of burst through and then she will mark him as her mark of vengeance
and reduce his speed by 10 feet.
So as she kind of marks him
she can see she's harassing him and hounding him
as he's trying to move away.
Ah, Kelek.
Batman versus headshot.
Oh.
What is this, a con?
Oh, that's just a d20, isn't it?
d20.
Whoa, 10. I'll take Ten. I'll take it.
I'll take it.
Right on the money.
On the money. One success.
Hello.
He has desperately been
trying to get away from you. He's like, no.
Yes, I realise that.
Leave me alone. I'm trying to work out my movement on how i can best use it um um i'll go five uh i'll make the acrobatics
check sure yeah so give me an acrobatics check. Oh, 19 plus 5.
Okay, yeah, you managed to get through that one.
You kind of apex legend style slide underneath,
pressing yourself flat.
So that's 10, 15, 20.
Meanwhile, like, all of this,
the whole forge is, like, full of this thick, like, hot air.
Uh.
Perhaps you're more than I anticipated.
Can I shoot through the chains?
You can shoot.
You can try and shoot through them.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
He's going to get some cover
from where you are currently on the map.
There is like a pillar in the way
so the angle is... He's going to get a slight
amount of cover. Can I make it so that I have...
I stand here instead?
Then I can
see him. I can fully see him from here.
Yeah, I'd say okay.
Sure, sure, sure.
Okay.
I'll attempt to shoot then instead of get the hammer just because I can't
quite get through the extra sets of chains.
So yes, I will.
Swiftly drawing along.
Oh, natural 20!
Nice!
Yeah.
Oh, real critical! Does that work?
Yeah, of course it does. It works on any weapon I think.
Awesome.
So that's the wrong dice.
That's the wrong dice.
Don't forget you don't get your ranged damage though.
No, I know.
So you work ranged attacks, yeah.
Yeah.
Oh, I rolled a one on my damage.
That sucks.
So hang on.
I'm pretty sure I probably rolled a two.
So it would be one DA, so it would be eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen,
fifteen, sixteen, sixteen, seventeen, eighteen, seventeen, seventeen, eighteen, nineteen,
nineteen, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty,
twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty,
twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty,
twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty,
twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty,
twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, twenty, Hang on. So it would be 1d8,
so it would be 8, 9, 10,
11, 12, 13.
I'm sad to say Brutal Critical is only on
melee attacks. I was wrong.
Well, it'll be 14 damage on that arrow.
14 points of damage.
And then I will
strike again.
Hopefully. Oh, that might not. 19 to hit. And then I will strike again, hopefully.
Oh, that might not.
19 to hit.
19's not going to hit him, no.
With the mist and the heat rising up around him,
just barely manages to dodge.
You can see him limping this arrow kind of embedded in his side.
That's okay.
Can I...
No, I can't do anything else that turn
I'm not close enough to quill
sorry bud
I can't get through the chain
5, 10, 15
20, 30
okay
can I pour a 20, 30. Okay.
Can I pour a greater healing down?
Quilly. You're like
reaching your arms through these chains
like pulling him a bit closer to
you so you can administer this
potion. Yeah, you can
I'll say you can do that without a check
because you just can't move through it.
But I didn't say you couldn't put your arms through it, basically.
So yeah, sure.
Potion time.
That's an action.
What kind of potion?
Greater.
I rolled.
Is that okay?
Oh, yeah, that's fine.
14.
14.
14, wow.
That's 3, 2, 2, and 3.
Pretty good. On the old 44s. that's 3, 2, 2, and 3 pretty good
44s
that's basically my
action because
I will bonus action
barrier ring on myself
nice, cool
good stuff
alright, on his turn
get out of my way
foolish girl
and he will take a shot.
I think he's got...
He's three.
Oh, actually, no, he's out of ammo
because he used Fan the Hammer.
He's just like, you hear him like, ah!
He twists the gun, and you hear this tinkling,
like, ting, ting, ting, ting, ting.
I love to reload during a battle.
And whilst he is doing that,
he will pull out a small
metal canister from his
belt, and he will throw it
so Aayla, Quill, and Lucius
this kind of blinding
flash of light goes
off. I need you all to make wisdom saving throws.
I just opened my eyes.
Wisdom. That's only a 14. off i need you all to make wisdom saving throws i just opened my eyes uh wisdom
it's only 14. oh my god plus 11 and i got a 12. what did i roll tell me i got a three all right stuns all around until the end of your next turn it's like flashbang like this like little device goes off
um and yeah he all he can do is reload throw that and then make a run for it and he's gonna try and
let's see 5 10 15 20 25 30 moonstar will get an opportunity attack uh natural 20
lashes out with like a lightning fist.
Four.
Not a lot of damage, but still nothing to sniff at.
That's going to be 10, 18 points of damage.
As he goes to run, she kind of pulls out like this kind of roundhouse kick,
kind of like slams in the back of his spine ah as he stumbles away uh desperate to
try and flee um as he's reloading sentry i would like to cast sunbeam please on this dude oh wow
okay because i don't think you've used this yet have have you, from the Matrix? No. So, I mean, I have an idea of how it looked,
but, like, because it's from the chest, right?
Like, does this, like, sentry just, like, reaches her arms back
and, like, this beam of light just comes up?
It's kind of a very Japanese anime mech kind of style beam.
Amazing.
What do I have to, what's the saving throw?
Con 16, please.
Oh, nice. Con as well.
He does pass. That's 16 plus
to 18, but I think it does half damage.
Half damage, yeah. 68
radiant.
5M1.
27 damage halved.
27
damaged halved is gonna be 13 points of damage.
You watch as he's making a run for it,
and you can see that as he nears the doors where you came in,
he reaches up a hand,
and that wall of force that was holding it in dissipates,
like he's going to run out the room and try and make an escape.
And then you just see Sentry turn around.
The Matrix just glows as this beam of
light rockets out, catches him
in the back and he just
burns
to cinders.
The only thing that's left
is his leather coat and
a stone
square that lands
on the ground and that's it.
He can't.
However, Qu that's it. He can't. However,
oh no, Quill's stable now, so
we can drop out of initiative. No, the gun,
when he dies, just
disappears into embers.
It just burns up. It was a gift
from the gods.
Oh.
Single army.
Then he dies
and I heal for 18
there you go
thank you dead man
and you guys are out of initiative
oh my god okay
I'm always stunned for
until the end of your next turn
it's like a couple of seconds
and then you're like
your ears are still ringing,
your vision's a bit fuzzy, but you can act as normal.
Yeah, Lucius is stumbling around and coughing
and wincing and holding wounds.
Where's he gone? Where is he?
What happened?
Sentry disintegrated him.
Sentry opened up her chest and disintegrated him. Nice. Well done, Sentry disintegrated him Sentry opened up her chest
and disintegrated him
nice, well done Sentry
impressive Sentry
okay
it's okay
oh that's him over there
and I'm like pointing at the jacket
oh wow
is there like a scorch mark
on the wall, you know, like a black silhouette?
Yeah, and the coat is
like smoldering and like...
Yeah, absolutely.
What do you guys do? Are you guys just
recuperating? Are you checking out the room?
What's the plan?
I'm gonna need a minute.
Yeah, can I grr?
We should probably
not take too long. The guards in the last room
alerted everyone with that whistle before.
We need to be quick here, whatever we're doing.
We need to find somewhere to recover.
I know that I took quite a few nasty blows there,
and I think the others did too.
Can I DVL 15 Lay of Hands points between Quill and Lucius?
15 HP to both of you? 15 to both of them, yeah. That's all my Lay of Hands points between Quill and Lucius. Ooh. 15 HP to both of you?
15 to both of them, yeah.
That's all my Lay of Hands gone.
I'm also going to cast Mask Cure Wounds
and miss out whoever...
Yeah.
I think Aayla and Sentry are the ones that took the least damage, but...
I only took five.
Well, Nova got healed for 35 before.
I think. Yeah, I'm
out there. I've
taken, like, almost 50 points,
I think. Alright,
well, Sentry only got hit for 5, so
it's a numbers thing, but I'm going to miss out
Sentry and then heal everybody for...
16 each.
Nice.
Nice. Nice.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Nice.
You can see looking around this temple,
it is very clearly,
it is a temple,
but also a blacksmith's forge.
You don't see like any schematics or plans.
This looks like almost ritualistic in nature.
There is a large hammer on the anvil itself,
like a blacksmith's hammer,
that appears to be made out of very bright polished platinum.
And then, yeah, the only other things you can see of note,
it's very heavy, but you've got the haversack, haven't you?
You've got the backpack.
I have a strength of 25 and a haversack.
Even like you picking it up, you're like, oh, this is
pretty heavy. Looking at it,
you have no idea how much this thing
is worth, but it definitely seems to be made
of platinum and other metals
infused into it. You can pop that in the
bag and examine how much it's worth later.
Anything else? Anybody doing anything else
in this room? Investigating the leather coat.
The thing that...
So it's a leather coat. The thing that... Yeah.
So it's a leather coat.
It's exceptionally well made.
Seems to be the only thing that really survived being blasted.
Lucius, I would say that you can tell that it is.
It has some minor magical enchantments on it.
It is a plus one suit of leather armor.
That's what it counts as.
Plus one leather armor. It's a leather coat.
Yeah, it's a coat.
Would this circumvent my...
Nope.
Nope.
It counts as leather armor.
But it's a coat.
It counts as leather armor.
Do you have a white armor proficiency?
It falls off.
It's like it restricts your arms.
No, it's like, oh, I can't move my arms in the way that I need to cast spells with.
All right.
move my arms in the way that I need to cast spells with and, you know.
Alright. What about
anything else around the coat that I was
stunned at the time and didn't see drop onto the floor
like a square? Ah, there is the stone keycard
and it is marked. The keystone?
It is. It is very similar to the one
that you had, but this one is marked with
the Elvish rune for three.
It is a level three keycard.
Whoa.
I think I found the keystone.
This gains us entry to areas of level 3.
Have we seen anywhere that needs that?
Yeah, I mean, the place across the way, that one.
There was a place that was 3.
The tower was 3.
Oh, the tower was 3. Perfect.
We need to make our way there then.
Hopefully without being intercepted
by anyone else.
Well, do you need to rest first?
We need to keep moving.
Yes, let's just keep moving.
Very better.
Keep going.
So, no schematics
at all here. You don't see anybody. Is that no schematics at all here?
You don't see anybody. Is that a chest
behind the anvil?
No, that is
like a water trough.
It's actually filled with oil, technically.
It's like a quenching trough
for whatever somebody would
smith down here.
Looking around, yeah, these chains are all...
You can see that the the spheres
are deeply embedded into like the stone of the pillars and the walls and things like that um
the chains uh look like they've been set up quite quickly like they've been hooked up to these metal
orbs but there's quite a few of these metal orbs scattered throughout the rooms but they would
require a lot of effort to dig out and you would have to be careful not to set them off.
But apart from that, no, it just appears to
be like a kind of temple forge.
No extra exits.
When we came in...
When we came in,
we passed, like, racks of, like,
weapons and some of those bombs.
You did. That was
behind another one of these glass,
magically sealed doors, and that one had
the elvish rune for four on it okay um okay let's go to the tower have some bombs um you know like
okay it's later on you're going to need a certain weapon and you're going to have to come back here
and get it and then go back to the boss yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah can we look around uh the rest of the other rooms for any schema any evidence really just
because i know this is a bigger place yeah you go so this this is the only room in this section
there's only one exit which is back the way you came you see that there is this kind of armory with racks of valkyrian-esque weapons and devices sealed behind it um you go back up the
stairs to the rec room where you were before and looking around this area now that you're no longer
kind of uh under the threat of combat um you can hear that the weather outside has turned worse
in the time that you've been sort of fighting here and down below um there
you can hear like a harsher wind blowing outside um but uh looking around you can see that this
appears to be like a barracks uh the room that this this forge was connected to there's a rec
room there's a small kitchen a training room which various dummies and like targets and things
and then upstairs uh where the previous gunmen had arrived from,
these two rifle sharpshooters,
appear to be various bunks,
like chambers of guards or soldiers or visitors or something like that.
It appears to be the barracks to this once was a keep,
so probably where the soldiers remained
um and yeah this is a sort of yeah there's nothing really of anything note um how like how much time
are you spending like scouring the rooms you just sticking your heads in and looking around are you
gonna like go through each room and check out it does appear that each of the rooms upstairs has a small chest. They have like two
beds per room with a chest each.
How much time do you want to spend?
Not very much time.
Like a quick scan.
You scan around, you don't find any more
signs of life, you don't find any more
anything of like schematics or anything like
that. You don't find any notes of those.
When you go to the door that leads out into the courtyard...
I've got my roll 20 working again, so...
Nice.
This is the courtyard.
It's quite a large map.
This is the courtyard that you were in before.
It is nearly impossible to see more than sort of 10-15
feet in front of you. The wind
is picked up into a snow
like a blizzard like flurry
thickly covering the
ground. The howling
wind just kind of whistles all
around you.
No sign of people right now.
No sign of people right now. No sign of people.
The elevator you can't see.
You can't see, you can't hear anybody,
but like I said, it's like you can't really see more than
15 feet, and hearing is extremely
limited. Even Quill, you're struggling
to pick up anything over the
raging wind and the blizzard
storming around you.
Damn you, nature!
Which building is the tower on this?
North.
It's the hexagonal one at the very
north of the courtyard.
So, yeah, for podcast listeners,
it's like a large square courtyard.
There's like this stone,
raised stone platform in the very middle.
You guys are in the barracks, which are
on the left-hand side. You know that there is a
smaller pillbox
square room on the right side,
and then this hexagonal tower,
which is built into the keep's walls on
the northern side, and then the elevator is on
the southern side.
Yeah, I said we'd beeline
straight left, go up to the tower.
Yeah.
Just out of curiosity, which room was it that had
the rank 1 sigil on the door
that was the pillbox on the far side
does not look anything like this
yeah
it's the pillbox
I imagined it in my head
it's quite fun
yeah that was the one that had the
level 1 door.
It's the little small room on the very far side of the courtyard.
Lucius, it sounds like Lucius is pushing onto the tower.
Moonstar.
Yeah.
I agree with my brother.
We should make our way to the tower immediately.
Yeah.
Yeah, I'm going with Quill.
Yeah, me too.
Okay.
Moving through the blizzard is arduous uh those of you who aren't particularly
used to cold um it is freezing cold out here um as you are kind of pushing your way through
um as the blizzard picks up you make your way uh to this hexagonal tower um and yeah there is this
kind of uh sealed reinforced metal door with these strange stone plates with the engraved runes upon it.
Before we go in, I'll say, yes, Quill?
Keystone, tier three. Keystone, tier three.
Yes, tier three.
You hear a...
Just prepare yourselves in case there's anything on the other side of the door.
Swing inwards automatically as the key the other side of the door swing inwards uh
automatically as the keystone is placed against the stone circles um and inside there is a kind of
as the snow all blows in um this floor luckily for you the room that this opens up into does
not seem to have any immediate guards um it appears to be a long hallway uh that stretches forward to the north where there appears
to be a uh another one of these um kind of winch like elevators but this one is connected by chains
um that go up and down um and this one has a device rather than having a lever that seems to activate it, it has like a series, like a kind of stone circle
with six points around the outside.
And it has very similar stone plates
that look like the keystone devices on the doors.
And you can see that they're all numbered
and labeled on this elevator device.
There are also two rooms that seem to lead to the right and left as well.
Let's quickly scout those two rooms,
and I'll make sense of this sigil if it's still an elvish.
See if it matches this keystone.
Shall we split up and take a take a room
just a quick peek
quick peek
quick peek
left and right
I'll go to the right
and uh
quill and sentry take either room
anybody else
nova with sentry, ayla with quill
yeah and then mood star
will stay with not call me a squishy ala i was about to call you a squishy and then i realized
that you're not a squishy so um i'll go with the squishy nova's like a really good middle ground
exercises yeah she's squishy in terms of strength of, but not in terms of hit points or armor. She's got hit points.
Yeah, that's the most important thing.
You guys split off.
While you guys check out the other rooms,
Lucius, you move up to this far end of the corridor,
and you can see that, yeah,
this is like a kind of smaller version of the lift,
the elevator that brought you up from the docks.
This one has uh kind of
beautifully made probably ethereum uh alloy chains that connect it going up and down i mean in the
very middle of this platform there is a kind of round dais and there are six symbols um with these
kind of stone plates on them um they basically read uh like, first floor, second floor, third floor,
and then B1, B2, and B3.
Some of them, B1, B2, and B3,
are all marked by the Elvish rune for five.
Five.
Right.
However, weren't we in one of the Bs? Because we are or is this in the tower now it's totally separate closed off you don't know structure are you asking are you saying this
out loud or are you just asking me the dm lucius is thinking out loud uh to nobody um well
oh yes hey uh i don know, it feels like this is
a different part of
wherever we are.
I think that these basements will be different to
the docks area that we arrive from.
Always secret
things in a basement.
Yes, I imagine that
whatever projects they've been working on,
I don't think that that small forge that we were just in,
whatever they're making here, I don't think they were making it there.
There's not enough space.
We saw those large metal arms and weapons.
They must be being produced somewhere else.
We need to acquire a level five keystone.
And I think the only way to go forward is we have to get up
to get down.
There is that smaller room on the other side
of the courtyard. We could also check that out.
True.
Yes.
Do you want to quickly do that?
I can come with.
We can
at least examine what's in there and then come
back. Yes. We could quickly just there and then come back, yes.
We could quickly just check and see where that room goes.
If there's any enemies, we can always come back for the others.
I'll messenger ring them and let them know.
And I'll relay that in saying
we need level 5 to get
to the basement where the secrets are, almost certainly.
However, we're going to go investigate
the small pillbox room on the
outside with this keystone to see if there's anything in there and we're going now if anyone wants to
come along okay we'll just check this room okay uh okay so lucius and uh moonstar begin making
your way over to the uh smaller pillbox room um yeah just move yourself over towards that side, Lucius. You're kind of the howling wind blowing past you
as you make your way.
Quill and who is it?
Quill and Sentry?
No, it's me, Fela.
Quill and Aayla, sorry.
You guys are on the right-hand side.
You open one of these doors from this corridor
that leads to the elevator from the entryway that you entered.
Stepping inside,
it appears to be perhaps a little bit abandoned.
You can see long tables.
Um,
you can see kind of a few chairs that have been knocked over.
Some look like they've fallen into disrepair,
uh,
on the walls.
There are old,
uh,
kind of rusted looking,
um,
swords and shields,
banners of some...
You're not sure.
You've never really seen this icon before.
Maybe the heraldry of a Sky City or of a noble family, maybe.
There are a couple of suits of armor
standing in the corners of the room.
And then there is another set of double doors
that leads to the north from this room itself.
You can see maybe there are the signs of
a meal has been eaten here fairly recently.
But no, nothing else.
Oh, I was really hoping this room was going to be isolated,
you know, and it wasn't going to carry on.
Now we're getting further away from everybody else.
If we were to go to the north.
I don't think we should go further because
Lucius and Moonstar might
also run into trouble. We should just hold back
and report on what we've seen so far.
Just take it easy
because you don't look great
right now. No offense.
I have been better.
I just got shot twice in
very close to my face.
It hurts, doesn't it?
As you guys are talking
in this room,
you hear something
in that room to the north.
You hear
clattering metal.
Close the door.
Close the door.
We're leaving.
I would imagine that I was speaking
in my messenger ring.
I don't think I would have spoken out loud.
But
personally.
You've got to do the messenger ring.
Sentry and Nova,
when you kind of step into
the other side of the room, the left-hand side,
this appears to be there's um best described as maybe a study uh you can see nova that there is signs that this
probably was once some sort of library um there are the sign like bookshelves but they are now basically empty or full with kind of just rotten remnants of papers um
old books that have basically fallen away into being unreadable useless books they're just kind
of like cracked leather covers and then dust of you know thin greasy yellow parchment where the
ink is all evaporated or been worn away um leaving it in a kind of shambles.
There is a little bit of rubble
strewn around the center of the room.
You can make out what appear to be
some very rudimentary beds.
It looks like kind of like traveling bedrolls
have been set out here.
And there are a few little campfires
that have been set up.
It looks like maybe some of the kind of old books uh like the unreadable books or the book shelves themselves have been broken
down for firewood um leaving this a kind of empty chamber and very similar there is a door to the
north well it's a form of abuse isn't it? A few things really upset me in the world, Sentry, and this is over the messenger ring,
and it's really improper book care.
I can see.
It's a mess.
Don't be upset, don't be upset.
It's okay.
Nova, are you talking about...
Are you crying about a book right now, Nova?
Really? In this time?
They're burning books!
I wonder what this would have been used for
before, you know,
before all these
horrible people came and
took it over.
A library, Sentry. A library.
You can see the categorizations, you can see
the markings. Oh my gosh.
Oh my gosh. I need to leave.
I need to leave. Right to leave right now okay okay okay
sure um you there is a door to the north um you there is a strange smell
coming from that room to the north the smell like decay um
iron i don't iron metallic smell
i think i would have moved back into the middle by the way
okay so quillen ayla you arrive in the middle chamber where the elevator is
century can i i'm trying not to cast divine sense sure what does divine sense do where the elevator is. Sentry? Can I cast Divine Sense?
Cast Divine Sense?
Sure, what does Divine Sense do?
So you can sense anything
detected by the Hallow spell
on the location of any of the Celestial Fiends
undead within 60 feet
that isn't behind Toad and Coven.
Do not sense any Celestial Fiends are undead.
Okay.
Not at least within 60 feet.
At least not within 60 feet.
Exactly.
This room is probably about
40 by 50 feet.
60 feet goes.
Just thinking.
I'm just measuring.
I've got a really bad feeling about this place I think we should go
go find Lucius and Moonstar
like now
so when you say that
there is also
we can hear some
clattering about of metal
from the other side
so there's definitely people down here, so we should be really careful.
Okay, well that bad
feeling has definitely become a much worse feeling.
Okay, let's move. You're welcome.
Lucius, we're coming!
Lucius and Moonstar.
So you manage
to kind of, through the howling wind of this blizzard,
you make your way over to the pillbox and Moonstar
raises up the level one
keystone card, whoever had it it i'm assuming somebody has it um and uh the door opens um and
there is this uh well i'm i mean lucius probably would have come and got it off of you quill at
that point i'd have given it to him yeah it's fine yeah there you go uh the door opens and you see
that this little square room is really nothing more than an antechamber
for a set of stairs that leads down.
There's no light source, so it's kind of pitch black.
Even with dark vision, it seems like your dark vision
just seems to go, the staircase just goes down.
But there is, it's a very odd sensation, Lucius.
When you come in, you can hear music.
Like, you can hear this
orchestral
slow waltz music.
Just like...
You're not hearing it.
It's in your mind.
Are you hearing that too, Edea?
Yes, the music.
What is that?
Where is it coming from?
I'm not sure, but the only way is down these stairs.
We should wait for the others.
I think that we should investigate this.
This may be...
We're working as a team now, don't forget.
I think that this might lead to old keeps like this.
They often had prisons for local criminals and the like.
What if they...
There's been a lot of reports of airship captains and crews going missing.
What if they've brought them here?
What if they're keeping some of them captive?
We could rescue them.
We could do a good thing here.
I think if we have the opportunity, we should.
Absolutely.
Do what the others think.
And with that, we will take a break.
People get a little drinky,
and then we will come back as you guys continue to explore
Shadowsong Pinnacle.
It's got so creepy.
Take it a turn
I had my fun little
video game bit at the beginning of like
Metal Gear and now it's like creepy time
so creepy time
creepy time
still in the theme of it Thank you.
