hello welcome back to high rollers a dungeons and Dragons podcast in the world of Erois.
We're sponsored by D&D Beyond, the ultimate online D&D toolset for both players and DMs.
Make your dungeon-delving life a million times easier with D&D Beyond using the link in the episode description. Hello. Sorry for interrupting the show just after the Dunduns, but this is an extremely
important update and I know you skipped
the intros. Trust me, this one's worth it. For two years we've been, for lack of a better term,
stuck playing D&D remotely. We made it work, we had to, and eventually we got the streams to a
place where we were happy with the quality of the content we were putting out. We had full control
over the music, the stream, the equipment. However, despite the success we had making everything work remotely, we still all sorely missed playing this wonderful game in
person around our friends. But we wanted to retain that control, making videos and podcasts exactly
how we want to in a space that's truly ours. A place we can decorate and customise, a place we
can use for bigger and better videos and podcasts. Now, after two years of a very different High Rollers, we're happy to announce that we're
moving into an exciting new stage with the High Rollers Studio.
We've somehow found a place in Bristol that ticks every one of our very specific requirements
that we'll be able to turn into the best dang space to make our nerdy D&D dreams come
true.
What's more, the High Rollers Studio is entirely funded by our Patreon, which is incredible.
With that support we're able to build a studio and streaming setup that we're comfortable
and happy to play D&D in while still retaining the High Rollers seal of quality.
But we always have grander plans.
The dream to build not just a usable studio but the perfect studio. One with 4K cameras and fantastic audio and LED screens that can read our thoughts and
animate the characters live.
The last one isn't real but can you imagine?
So on the 20th of November at 12pm UK time we're going to begin a 12 plus hour fundraising
livestream.
We'll play games, we'll do Q&As, we'll host the High Rollers Battle
Royale that everyone has asked for and make everyone fight to the death. All with the goal
of getting newer, better, more incredible tech to make High Rollers the best D&D stream you've
ever seen. So please join us for that stream and help us make the studio of our dreams so that we
can make the D&D podcast of your dreams. Also, on the topic of Patreon, there's going to be some
changes over the next week that allows anyone that supports. Also on the topic of Patreon, there's going to be some changes over the next week that
allows anyone that supports us to get more out of it.
Nothing's getting removed, you'll still get early access to podcast episodes and our
eternal gratitude, but look out for more update posts in the near future regarding what your
support gets you.
We have some plans on how to forever memorialise the ones that made this possible that we think
you're going to love. Maybe I'll tattoo every supporter's name onto my body. I'm not going to do that. But maybe.
Thanks again for being the wonderful people that you are, for supporting this story,
and for everything you've done to make High Rollers as great as we believe it can be.
We hope to see you on Saturday for some dumb celebrations and keep an eye out on our Twitter
or on Patreon for more updates soon. And as always, our eternal love Last time on Aroas.
Our heroes have travelled to the Feywild, aka Lunaria, to aid their friends Thalia and
Rosemeadow. As Thalia's curse seems to have time to spare, the party have decided to investigate
a tale of a centaur family trapped in a mysterious forest haunted by two powerful spirits created by
Zarkira, in the hopes that they may be Rosemeadow's family and may have answers about the strange girl
they've come to know. To reach the Black Stallion Woods, the party must cross a large area of swamp
called Yon Fen by the Feywild locals.
An erratic water level, some poor skill checks, and a desire not to get too wet has caused
the party a few delays, and not much progress has been made thus far.
As night falls across Yon Fen, a thick black of night shrouds everything in its malicious
gloom.
The lazy willows and swamp trees soon look like colossal shades and swaying shadows,
whilst the long grasses and reeds
that protrude from the water
appear as submerged skeletons
grasping for all that draws near.
Ahead, the party have spied a field
of bubbling mucus gas bubbles with a strong odor,
and their path lies beyond it.
A couple of quick things.
As you may have noticed,
I have confirmed,
because I didn't work this out last time when we played,
it is evening time.
I went back and worked it out
and you guys have been basically traveling for like 16, 17 hours,
including the time it took to make the raft.
So it is pitch black.
It is in the middle of the night.
That's not good, is it?
To kick everything off,
I'm going to have everybody roll a constitution saving throw
to see how tired you are
as you push beyond the normal limits.
Damn it.
Oh, well, century is A, okay.
24.
I'm just going to use century to roll a bunch of ones for go on over if every anybody who got above a 15 or higher you're okay
well npcs however
uh yeah do you want you roll thalia i? Yeah, do you want me to roll Thalia? I just rolled Rosemeadow, Kairi, and Big Cat,
all of whom are tired.
But if you want to roll Thalia, go ahead.
15.
15? Yeah, right, so Thalia's fine.
So all of you managed to kind of push on,
being kind of well-seasoned adventurers by this point.
A little bit of tiredness and a long day
isn't going to push you out too much.
However, Rosemeadow, Kairi, and even Big Cat
are all showing signs of exhaustion
and being very, very tired having stayed awake
and lots of physical exertion thus far.
It is pitch black.
You know, you know, Quill,
there would have been some disadvantages
to your perception check
if I'd realized it was nighttime,
but you do know that you are basically traveling
into this gas field, basically,
with all these kind of gross mucusy bubbles
and things like that.
I mean, I'm guessing if we knew it was nighttime,
I'm guessing that Lucius would have had, like,
some dancing lights or something, maybe.
Yeah, we can do that now.
I actually have a map prepared as well,
so if you would like to go
on roll 20 i do have a map ready nice can't see shit no because you do not have dark vision
keela can't kill i do not i can't see anything oh i was wondering why you're saying that because
i was like what do you mean there's loads of stuff yeah i can't see any of this. I can see Nova and Aayla. That's about it.
And Nova normally wouldn't be able to see anything, but you recently purchased your
set of goggles of night viewing, dark vision, didn't you?
So yeah, you've got the old Sam Fisher splinter cell.
That's what I was thinking, yeah.
Okay.
And yeah. So yeah, do we have any dancing lights, Lucius?
Or any form of light from anyone actually?
Look at my cantrips, probably.
Oh, I actually have light.
Yeah, I've got dancing lights.
I can just illuminate a few of them just spiraling around.
I can also send them off.
Let me find a suitable... For someone.
This will do.
Okay.
I've also got light as well,
so I can make a 20-foot radius dim light.
No, sorry.
What's the...
40-foot.
It's 20-foot of bright and then 20 foot of dim light on
yeah what's the dancing lights range lucius is it 20 feet what's it saying um dancing lights
100 oh wait that's firebolt 120 feet yeah that's the range that you can cast the spell up to but
how much light does 10 foot radius description 10 foot radius of bright light and then 10 foot of the imagine okay
Oh crack these round by the way I can see I can see these these boo-boos and
now yes with the kind of lights button did you want to cast light on yourself, Quill? Yeah, I think so, on my staff.
It's concentration, right?
It isn't.
Oh, okay. Nice.
And it lasts for an hour.
All right, perfect. There you go.
Have some light.
So, yeah, you know, with these floating...
And the dancing lights would kind of make this nighttime swamp scene even more ominous as these kind of colored lights sort of just drift through the gases rising off the swamp water.
These long tendril like vines and tree roots grasping out, reaching into the water, casting everything into a shade.
reaching into the water casting everything into a shade um you can see yeah rose meadow kairi and big cat kind of struggling to keep their eyes open but kind of looking around keeping alert
for danger and you are all gathered on this makeshift raft that's century built um that is
very slowly drifting its way in but uh what do you guys want to do? Do we pop them?
Do we pop a bubble just to see what happens?
If we do, there's a small chance,
and I don't know how it could happen,
but there's a small chance it might ignite and blow up,
and that would be terrible.
That would be awful.
If we do throw at any of them,
the one over there, the one kind of far away, maybe, would work.
Yeah, I could send...
Try and... Yeah, or I could
Eldritch Blast. Sorry, Lucius, didn't mean to cut you off there.
I could Eldritch Blast one that's very far away.
Uh,
okay.
I'll send a Dancing Light so that you can see where you're
aiming for.
And then, Quill, you can get a bird's eye view
if you fly out i am i don't want to fly above this thing i don't know what's under the water
if it does explode it could go up and then i would uh explode too i don't want to do that
we just need to know whether we need to consciously navigate around these bubbles
or not worry about them so So I think a test is worthwhile.
Test it.
There's something to worry about.
I mean, let's be honest.
Sentry's keeping the raft stationary for now,
so you're not moving forward.
Also, as a point, looking around,
there is not any ground here
that even if you wanted to rest,
you'll need to get to the other side of this this this gas field before you can then you'll need to find somewhere
to try and rest potentially okay well i'll send a dancing light i've given you control of them
trot so if you want to move them around you can do so you can move them as you wish. I guess that they have to be in within visible range Yeah, well the furthest I can shoot is a hundred and twenty foot so
Yes, I can send dancing lights a hundred twenty feet look look at this one. It's just going everywhere
Well, it looks like there's three bubbly's so
Do we want to do this furthest one ahead or maybe one off to
the side? I don't know.
The furthest one just in case this does
err up or whatever.
I'm spiralling this dancing light around
it now.
Let's just
make it as far away as possible.
What about Lucius? Can you see
there's one to our south
that's just on the edge of our
Oh, yes, good eyes.
Excellent.
I put a line of dancing lights
as like a guide.
That direction.
Yeah, they kind of create like a runway
of lights, runway lights basically.
Like these little winking orbs.
Yeah.
Right. So yeah, if you want to do that, basically, like these little winking orbs. RGB. Yeah. Right. So, yeah, if you want to
do that, Kim, it's over. It's
just make an attack roll. Make an Eldritch
Blast attack roll. I mean, these things are pretty easy to
hit. It's like AC 10, but just in case you
roll a natural one.
I rolled a 28.
Yeah, the Eldritch,
the beam of blue light that shoots out of
Tiangong, or the kind of arc blade, whatever it looks like, connects.
And you immediately hear this kind of loud popping sound,
like a kind of...
And you hear the release of gas, like a...
No explosion or anything like that,
but there is definitely some sort of gas that is released
in quite a large radius, about a 10-foot radius from that bubble.
10-foot around it.
Yeah, so 10-foot all around it.
Is it quite dense from what I can tell?
I'm going to send a dancing light through it.
Well, I'd say, Lucius, for you, for anybody with dark vision,
you can see that something's happened,
but I would say it's kind of hard to see more details
because all your vision is black and white at this point right because you're relying on actually no because
you've got the dancing lights there there is a discoloration to the air like there is a gas
that you can see in that 10 foot but it just it dissipates very quickly it kind of pops and then
dissipates what do you think no for i think um I think there's a very good chance
that if there was a naked flame around that gas,
there would be another explosion.
A bigger one, a flamier one, a stinkier one.
Should I throw a torch at it?
No, no, no, no, no.
As you guys are having this conversation,
to the east, well, to the north, but on this map to the east, you hear a kind of low, woodish creaking.
I also think that there's a high chance that because we're doing this at night and we've just made a very loud sound and lots of flashy lights in a darkened area,
there's a great chance that we have probably lit ourselves up like a big old beacon.
Yeah, Farley is pulling out one of her pistols and is like,
the nerd is correct.
Okay.
Did she say that?
Yeah. Farley calls her a nerd. You know she's a nerd. She finds it endearing.
Okay.
So, if we try and get through this,
we have to avoid these bubbles as much as possible.
Whatever came out of them will surely affect us in some way,
regardless of whether or not they blow up.
Well, Sentry, that's your job to navigate. Will surely affect us in some way regardless of whether or not they blow up
so Century's your job to navigate. Yes, and centuries like well, I'll do my best
I can try and get us past it. But this the raft is quite unwieldy. It's it's quite difficult to sort of maneuver
I'd say that we should just try and be careful
I don't think I can really get us around a couple of these we might just have to get close and hope that nobody pops
it really get us around a couple of these we might just have to get close and hope that nobody pops it maybe we can pop the one directly in front of us and just do a straight line
we can try yeah i yeah i'll just try and make it as best as we can
we've already alerted them now let's just get rid of the obstacles in the way
sure sure
there is one right off right near the raft which like, you can see a straining to, you know, whatever current is here,
Sentry's kind of holding the raft in place, but there is one pretty close by.
You can gust, right, Quill?
I can gust, but I don't think I can move an entire raft with this.
No, no, no. Just in case this toxic gas comes anywhere you can disperse it somewhat
all right firebox no not firebox uh no i'll i'll be the wafter i'll waft away
okay shall i fire again i'm gonna fire if you could do that without expending any more energy
i know we're all exhausted here yep here we go uh so i'm gonna fire another boom at the closest bubble
this one i assume was it that one yes yeah don't forget podcast listeners we want to describe north
or south there's one which is like directly ahead of you yeah so the one that's closest
this which is about within five ten feet. Yeah, that one pops as well.
Quill, did you say you're readying Gust?
Do you want to try and, like, waft any gas away?
Because this is, it looks like Ayla, like, might breathe in some of this gas.
Like, she's going to suck it in.
No, I'm hard wafting.
Okay.
I cast waft.
Yeah, you cast Gust, and Ayla, you're kind of, like, reaching up
to kind of cover your mouth, and then this kind of blast of wind behind you
pushes it away, and the gas does seem to be dissipated enough
that you don't feel any strange effects or anything from this gas.
Hmm.
Cool.
Okay.
Should I start moving us forward?
Yes, I think so.
Okay.
Let's make some progress.
So the raft can go about 15 feet per round
with all of you on it it's quite slow going um
you do hear that kind of
do you want me to scout ahead? I can walk on this.
That's not a bad idea.
I just don't want you to accidentally end up in a bubble.
That would really... I can see.
I'll avoid them.
I think I have a bit more nimbleness walking
as opposed to being on a raft.
True.
Right, here we go.
And every time I step off onto liquid, I'm very hesitant, very dainty, single toe.
Okay.
Oh, sure.
Are you trying to quietly move ahead of everyone?
Just gonna skulk in front, just looking around, seeing if there's anything around.
Give me a stealth check and move yourself where you would like to go.
But if you're trying to be quiet, it's absolutely a stealth check.
19.
19? Okay. Noted.
So that's 5, 10, 15.
Okay.
I don't know.
All right.
There's a lot of bubbles there that I think my map isn't
showing I think I might have copied and pasted
I can see the maps
there's a lot of them
they look cool
they do look cool
there shouldn't be that many of them
don't worry about those
go back into the dark
while you adjust it
maybe we should figure out a quieter way
of popping these things maybe uh ayla there's an island near us maybe if you just grab a load of
sticks or stones or something and we throw them at the bubbles instead of you know eldritch blasting
you do see up ahead lucius uh as you're moving forward how far did you get is that where you
got to last time or did you get 5 10 15 20 25 i can do one more so it's 30 yeah sure you do
begin to see there is like a large tree in front of you which is blocking some of your vision up
ahead but you can see that there is this dense layer of fog kind of settling over the marsh up ahead make a perception check
for me
oh that's persuasion can I persuade the fog
nope
good effort
good try
tell me what you are
on a perception
okay 21
you can hear
very faint,
almost you wouldn't have heard it
if you weren't sort of on edge, right?
Like you're kind of aware
that there might be something here
and you're really listening.
It would almost sound like maybe something
just drifting through the swamp water,
but you hear like sloshing,
like a paddle or like something wooden
being dragged through the water
okay i'll i'll knit back
not good there's something in the water skulking under water i it sounds like it's in the water
in some capacity there There's some fog
there's a tree directly ahead of us
that's going to block our path and we need to choose
whether to go left or right around it
There's thick fog to the right
where the sound is coming from
One of those bubbles is blocking
I can't get around it to the
sort of northern side
I have to pop that bubble
I have to pop that bubble i got to pop that bubble
okay okay i'll pop it yes captain yikes well maybe we attempt the quieter option rather than
like i said i don't think there's a question what's wrong with eldridge boss do we have a
Do we have a crossbow or a bow and arrow?
I have a bow.
I could shoot it.
Thalia holds up two, like, laser pistols.
Hand cannons.
Lots of bows, yeah.
I got a bow.
You want me to shoot it?
Yeah, okay.
Yeah, that sounds quieter.
I'm going to...
Can I send my dancing lights towards the fog?
You can move your dancing lights wherever you want, yeah.
I'm moving them away from us so that we're not lit up like a Christmas tree.
And towards... What's a Christmas tree?
As the covered lights...
Quill is literally lit up right now.
He also has a big bright light around him.
But the dancing lights, as they merge into the fog,
they diffuse that light and it becomes like these haunting marsh lights as they drift through um as as you're pulling out your bow
maybe to try and shoot one of these bubbles um rose meadow kind of very sleepy rose meadow say
maybe maybe it's just swamp people maybe they're nice maybe they can help show us somewhere to sleep
oh we can only hope rose meemary but we'll play it safe
by the way i have i've put big cat on the on the for those uh
podcast listeners big cat on the raft takes up like so much space
so much space big cat come on he's a big boy
he's like curled up he's kind of like laying on the raft like
looking very slim right i'm very confused because um
none of my attacks are showing up on my oh i thought you were to say you lost your longbow somewhere. No, none of my, like, nothing's showing up on my thingy.
On your character sheet on D&D Beyond?
Yeah, they're not, they weren't like, um, attuned, so they weren't showing.
Oh, you can check the boxes to make them appear as actions in the inventory.
I did, but my bow is no longer.
Uh, I can look into it.
Are you probably up to like a plus 25 anyway? Yeah. Let let me have a look it's just a plus 14.
plus 10. it's plus 10 with your bow very strange
nice it's weird it shows up for me uh oh i rolled a five so 15 to hit
15. it's still a hit uh as long as you don't roll a one because your bonus was
high enough yeah the arrow kind of and you hear the kind of and then the of the gas
definitely quieter okay yeah it was it's definitely quieter than the aldrich blast
but still noticeable like the popping of the gas is like a quite a loud sort of like like you know big sort of like release of air.
It's probably not coming through but I don't want to do the...
No it's great, it's great.
Okay I'm gonna switch this off and I won't be able to see anything so if anything comes by
you have to let me know and I'll turn off the light on my...
Well I'm gonna keep the dancing lights there as almost like a wall
that we could very much see anything walk through them.
Ominous shadows and things like that.
Actually, I just realized, Century's like,
just so you know, I can't really see either,
so I don't know what's going on.
You'll need to sort of direct me.
Just follow me. I'll stay in front of the raft.
Should I take over the raft maybe
you should maybe you should ayla yeah uh i could see century will awkwardly sort of like
everyone lean on this side of the raft
yeah rose meadow probably has to move to the other side actually
farley kind of shifts over. There you go.
Everyone kind of readjusts on the raft,
and Century kind of moves to the front,
and she gets out Starbreaker and her shield.
She's going to get those ready.
I'm just going to stay five feet in front as like a guide, basically.
Okay, sure.
You tell me when you want to move ahead.
Otherwise, I'm assuming that the raft stays stationary.
Let's move. Let's get a move on
okay so we're gonna meet the left path right so lucius if you want to move up to where you want to
finish and then i'll have the that's 30 there so between these two trees where i'd like the
roster whoa you make a um can you make a for me ayla this would be because you're not proficient
in sort of boats and stuff, are you?
You're not proficient in like boatsmanship.
I am very good at boats, thank you.
No, I'm not.
Well, this would just be decks then.
It would just be a D20 plus your decks mod.
Just to try and like angle it and like not hit the sides of like the trees
and things like that.
13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18.
18?
Yeah, easily enough.
You managed to kind of guide the raft gently, 15, 16, 17, 18. 18? Yeah, easily enough, you manage to kind of guide the raft gently, quietly, swiftly in between these two trees,
kind of angling it.
And yeah, it begins to just sort of drift in between the trees.
And again, you can kind of see up ahead
more of these kind of like gas bubbles and things just like that.
As you guys are kind of traveling though,
some more fog does begin to sort of appear
sort of forming around you almost as the raft begins to drift through and it's it's obscuring
some of your vision even though you've got these lights in your dark vision the fog is kind of
like blocking everything and it just gently sort
of like drifts and moves ever so slightly we have to be very careful from here on anything can emerge
from those these fog thickets thicket fogs i don't know what to call it i don't get out much
i can't see anything uh Quill if you could listen
for any of the sloshing that I heard
do you want to make a perception check
yeah sure
plus 11, 29
damn
if this had been based on vision Quill because of the
darkness and the fog
it would have been lesser because this is just
listening out you do hear
coming almost directly from your east you hear that kind of gentle
it's like the something is passing through the water and you can almost hear underneath the
water the sounds of something being pulled free of the mud that sits at the bottom of the swamp water. They're kind of I think I'm just going to save time.
You got 29 you said Quill?
Yes.
You can hear an ever so faint
droning like the buzzing
of insects.
In the same direction?
Same direction.
I've just got my eyes closed and I'm just focusing on hearing
and I'm putting my arm out in the direction that I can hear it.
Like Derek Okoro, now that I say it.
There's something over there. I see something over there.
I can feel a presence.
Sure.
That's the direction we're trying to go.
What do we think
that's where I can hear it
I can hear like a buzzing
I can hear something moving through the water
over there
fog starts to kind of emerge
behind you guys as well
sort of drifting in from between the trees
the fog sort of like
drifts in
I'm going to redirect my dancing lights
swish them past the raft and then move them
down here and see if it glows the fog towards the east make it make it so lucius
you being the only one who can see this currently um you see something as you move your lights into that fog
and you're kind of a few steps ahead of the raft
sort of navigating this turn,
you see for the first time a shape.
You see a creature in the fog,
obscured by the fog,
only really able to see its outline.
It appears almost like a giant shroud- shroud covered figure with these impossibly long limbs
kind of draped in this shroud like material with these long haunting cloaked faces
its arms and legs almost like a big hunched back like dog or beast and it's all and it turns in your direction
hey I kind of suck in a breath by is if to like stay quiet but also like hold
it based on movement yeah sure make a um make another stealth check for me okay oh no that's what i turned and it begins moving towards kind of
avoiding the bubble but it begins moving towards the lights and you can see you can't see any
features because in the fog it's almost you're literally just seeing its outline, but you know that it's looked in your direction
and it kind of turns its head and you can almost see,
no, you wouldn't even be able to see that because of the mist.
You can just hear this very faint droning
and like the sloshing of these great long limbs through the water.
Can everyone else see this if it's in the dancing light well i think anybody who can see it
on their map so i imagine nova and ayla can probably just see it maybe nova probably can
yeah i can see it um i can as well in the dancing lights yeah it'll be like a shadow
but yeah it's and it's in the fog though as well, right? It's all fully obscured.
You can just see this.
If I say to Tom it looks like a Dark Souls
monster, he's going to kind of know.
I was for some reason thinking of
Gravelord Nito.
I don't know who that is.
That's way too...
You didn't get that far in the game?
I beat the four
kings and then I was trying to get to Gravelord Nico
and I quit.
Gravelord Nico is one of them.
But the fucking wheel men,
I hate them.
Oh, yeah.
It's almost like
it's wearing an executioner's hood,
but it seems to be
part of its body
and it just drapes down
and it's got this big hunched back
and these big long limbs.
I think instinctively
seeing that image, Lucius in the lights it would snuff out his
concentration and the dancing lights you'd see one flash of silhouette and it would just disappear
because i'd just gasp audibly and did you see that did you see that
are you saying the mist it it just disappears into the mist.
With your dark vision, the black and white dark vision can't penetrate the fog.
I'm clamoring onto the raft.
It's a horrible creature up in the fog.
Did you see it?
Lucius, you need to...
I can't...
I didn't see anything.
Where are the lights?
What happened to your lights?
I broke...
Sorry, I broke concentration. I can bring them back if you like. see anything but where are the lights what happened to your lights i i i broke sorry i
broke concentration i can bring them back if you like i don't want to see it again do you
we need to know what it is and where it is okay you definitely you hear it moving quill
you can't tell the direction but it's it's moved much faster than it appeared. Like you hear like faster slashing. You hear like...
Hard to tell.
More dancing lights.
Sure.
Is this now like an alien scene
where like the lights go off and on again?
The lights are gonna come back on.
It's gonna be right in front of us.
I mean, I love that.
Right in front of us, yeah.
My map is so like, I can't see a thing.
So I'm ready for the lights to come back on
and it's gonna be right
in front of me let me do this so uh bright light 10 feet dim light 10 feet
these lights please control to lucius
i'll give you three.
I know you can create more.
Do you know how many you can create?
Three is fine.
Oh, four.
Okay, I'll give you four.
Yeah, you conjure them.
I mean, you can move them, but it's not
where it was. It's gone.
It's not the same place.
It's not the same place it's moved.
I don't want to move them.
Wait. Okay, hang on.
Wait. Okay,
quiet, everyone. I need to find out where this thing is.
If there is a thing out there
and I want to listen out
again. You don't believe me?
Lucius?
There's a thing. There's definitely a thing.
There's a thing. I'm grabbing the scruff of Quill. There's a thing. There's definitely a thing. There's a thing. I'm grabbing the scruff of Quill.
There's a thing.
Quiet.
Quiet, please.
Panic quieter.
Make a perception check, Quill.
Sorry.
Disadvantage with Lucius screaming in my ear.
I mean, I'll leave that to you.
You want to roll with disadvantage?
I do.
Oh, no.
A 25 out of 14. You don to roll with disadvantage? I do. Oh, no. A 25 and a 14.
You don't hear anything over Lucius
being like, there's something out there, Quill. I saw something.
It's there. You just can't hear
anything. You just... We bring inside voices
if the inside was a very quiet place.
It's a ballroom. What sort of
hulking monstrosity lives in a swamp like this?
I have no idea what this is.
Is there a hulking monstrosity, to be fair? If I was a hulking monstrosity lives in a swamp like this? I have no idea what this is. It's a pretty good place for a hulking monstrosity, to be fair.
If I was a hulking monstrosity, a swamp would probably be a good place to be.
All right, Quill, that's a little bit harsh.
I wouldn't call her a hulking monstrosity, but I agree with Ayla.
I think that if there's going to be a monster, it seems like a suitable point for it to live.
I know she's not.
Is it a compliment? i know her so well
what do we do do we keep moving keep moving around
okay yeah that's yeah an illusion of some kind uh nova you can create things, can't you? Yeah, I can create noise somewhere else.
Yeah, if I could shoot more gas bubbles on the other side of the swamp.
Okay, okay.
I could do that, yeah.
There's one behind us to our rear.
It's harder to see because of the fog, but you can still see it, yes.
I'll send a dancing light in that direction.
Yeah, the light helps, but the fog still obscures it.
What's the loudest part of an Eldritch Blast?
Is it the summon or the hit?
I would say, because it's meant to be kind of like,
it's not like a laser blast.
It's like a kind of like pulse of magic.
I would say it's probably the initial like,
like when it first launches, right?
Like it's the kind of like.
Yeah, you know me, I love my sound effects.
Yeah.
I could make myself the distraction,
teleport away, make some splashing, teleport back.
Oh, it's risky.
I can go invisible as well.
I can do lots of things.
I don't think visibility or invisibility matters when you're underwater.
It kind of pulls around you makes you very visible
i can bounce though can you bounce i can't i can't see a thing right now i could send a
chromatic orb they're very small until they impact it's a four inch sphere
okay that's weird information to give or i could just keep moving
it's small.
To some, it's okay. It's a decent size.
Is this really the time?
Is this really the time for this?
I love that you guys are a party
of level 16 characters.
It's just such a weird
monster in this swamp.
It's a three-sphere. Okay. It's just such a weird monster in this swamp. It's a three-sphere.
Okay.
It's small.
I'm going to send a first-level chromatic orb at the southern bubble to impact it.
Cool.
Is that an attack roll?
It will be an attack roll.
Again, the fog is obscuring it slightly. 31. Oh, yeah. is that an attack roll yeah again the
fog is obscuring it slightly
31
you do hear like a
and then the
bubble pops I'm gonna use lightning
on that to make it real crackly
and distracting
I can do that too
you do hear
from that direction, sort of south
of the raft currently,
you do hear like a
Okay, go! Go!
Raft! Hang on, just real quick.
Move the raft up.
How much of a fuse is lightning?
Or like, you know.
The gas doesn't ignite. i did not think of that
can you make a another dex check for me katie just because that tree and the bubble nearby
oh my god d20 plus dex 12 30 40 50 60 17 17 yeah more than enough to just navigate not
not collide into that bubble slightly north of you,
not collide into the tree.
You managed to keep the raft under control.
Yeah.
Good, good.
Can you hear it again?
I can listen again.
I'm going to keep dancing to the rear of us just in case it emerges from that direction and I'm gonna send
these two out this way sure nice should I just make it right before you know you don't need to
as you as those dancing lights go forward another shape're going to see another shape.
You guys are a bit closer now,
and although it's still obscured in the fog,
you see this thing, and you see its head,
and you can see that there is almost like
this kind of mesh of fibers over its face,
and insects are coming in and out of its face,
kind of drifting.
Still partially obscured.
You just see this big sort of like cloaked shape as it turns.
It looks in your direction.
And Quill, that's when you hear the movement,
not just behind you, but to the west of you as well,
as more of these things appear.
Oh, God, they're behind us as well.
Oh!
Oh, good.
And that, my friends, is where we roll initiative.
Oh boy.
Okay, okay, okay.
All right.
While we do that, how...
Oh god.
How embroiled in the muck do they look?
Like, how connected to this water are they?
I mean, very hard to see.
Again, they're obscured by this fog.
You are literally just seeing these outlines,
and it looks like they have these long limbs
that just sort of, like, go into the water,
and then they're covered in, like,
these big sort of vine, mossy shrouds, and then they have these in like these big sort of vine mossy shrouds and then they have
these weird mesh fibered faces um with what appear to be insects flying in and out of it um lucius
virion eloine elonasto initiative please i got a whole four whole four lovely key like adkala uh 16
Four, lovely. Keylek, add Kalah.
16.
16.
Ayla.
Also 16.
16.
Sentry, there's me.
I'm gonna roll that.
Sentry gets 14.
Nice.
Nova Vija.
18.
18, and then I'm gonna manually add in manual entry so we got failure who can fight and big cats who can fight can somebody I did give you
their stats in discord you might have to scroll up for them though Kim you've got
values there can you do an initiative for failure for um kim you've got thalia's there can you do an initiative for thalia for me please i've got thalia but um five years of playing dungeons dragons can't remember how to
work out initiative um it's dexterity modifier it's just dexterity modifier unless you've got
like a special thing 13 for her 13 perfect oh that, Mito. I can't really see it, but I will check.
He's full of bones.
Full of bones, that one.
Oh yeah, I pulled that up.
Spooky.
Does anyone have big cat stats available?
He's 20 across the board.
Yeah, he's fine.
He's actually killed them all already.
I'm going to give him an initiative of two then.
Oh no!
Yep, because I rolled a T give him an initiative of two then. Oh, no.
Yep, because I rolled a two.
Consequences. Well, consequences.
NovaVeja.
I mean, you see at least three of these things,
although the two behind you,
well, all of them are obscured by the fog at this point.
Very hard to see.
What's the plan?
I am going to...
Very quickly...
Hmm.
I think I'm going to cast Wall of Light.
Okay.
Which I haven't done for a while.
So it is a 60-foot long wall of light
that will emit bright light for 120 feet.
Okay.
So, yeah. And I want the first part of it
to curve on the one
in front of us, so
the easternly most one
that we were focusing our attention on.
So, sort of
like...
So that would be like
20 foot of it I just did there something like that or like going the whole
way across or would you just want to draw it can you see i'll i'll draw it on the map um but yeah
while i'm doing that i definitely want it to hit the one that's in front of us so can you please
make me a constitution saving throw for that boy yes I absolutely can con save
yes
is a 17
it's 18
to pass
so you take 48 radiant damage
and you're blinded for a minute
okay
that is
15 points of radiant damage.
Nice.
Not bad.
Points of radiant.
Blinded for a minute.
I'm assuming save ends at the end of their turn.
Yep, saving at the end of their turn.
And anything that ends its turn in there will be blinded.
But the main thing is it's just put out a lot of light.
Yeah, and I'd say that even though it's in the fog,
this light, the wall of light, illuminates the creature fully now.
And you can see, although it's still partially obscured,
it's not quite the creature.
It appears to be a creature who is wearing what appear to be these long stilts.
It's like holding wooden stilts in its hands,
and it has stilts attached to its legs.
And then it has this big long cloak over its,
you know, it still must have like a big hunchback muscular body,
but it's wearing like a cloak of moss and vines.
And over its head,
it almost looks like it's wearing a sort of wicker bees hive over its head.
And there are bees coming in and out of its face um and you hear
it just i love that oh this is great holy kim loves this nova is pooping herself gently um but
the horror the horror goblin that is me i love this that's that's that's my turn. That's it.
That ball actually gives off light, doesn't it?
120 foot of bright light and dim light for an additional 120 foot.
Oh, my God.
Okay.
I can't really click on the wall at the moment,
so we're just going to have to figure out how to do that.
Yeah.
Bail the entire map.
I probably could do,
but at this point,
now that the gig is up, actually, I think I will
because we don't need to
worry about the vision anymore.
So I will just put...
My eyes!
Yes, it is probably going to be a little bit
like, you know, because we've been in pitch a lot.
Like...
Just completely illuminates the area.
Cool.
Well, that's it, Nova Vija.
I mean, do you want to get off?
I mean, again, if you would like to move off the raft, don't forget that this is water,
so it's all difficult terrain if you want to try and, like, basically wade through the water.
Apart from Lucius or anybody who isn't affected by sort of moving through water, it is difficult terrain.
I'll probably stay on the
raft for now stay on the raft okay in that case we go to ayla
hello and then it will be quill on deck after this
i'm going to hop off i have a swim speed i don't know if that does anything. It means you ignore the difficult terrain.
It means you completely ignore the difficult terrain.
Well, I'm going to go over to here
and I will rage and
hit
the thing.
Sure. You move up towards
it.
Sprinting through the water completely unfazed
by this murky
swamp water.
Hammer comes a-swinging.
27 to hit.
27 will hit, yes.
That hits.
A success.
18 damage.
18 points of damage.
Plus, oh wait, my lightning.
I forget the extra thing now.
Two lightning.
Then. Two lightning. Then...
Two points of lightning damage.
17 plus 14 to hit.
That much.
31, that hits.
That much.
Then that is a...
19 damage with the hammer.
These two blows,
like the first one you swing in
and you manage,
the creature reflectively tries to pull
its like stilts out of the water,
but to defend its stilts,
it kind of has to move its body in the way
and you feel the hammer slam into a muscular form.
And this, you hear like for the first time,
like spoken words,
you hear like,
speaking to you in some strange tongue,
but you hear it react to these heavy blows
that seem to definitely heavily injure the creature.
And then another one lightning damage for that.
And then also, can you roll a dex?
Dex saving three.
19.
That passes, so it's half of the lightning
damage, so...
17
lightning damage halved.
17 lightning damage
halved would be 8.
So, I mean, with these
just those two blows and then the blast from
your Storm Aura, the creature, like, reels back, and those two blows and then the blast from your storm aura, the
creature like reels back and you can see the lightning actually kind of catches some of
the vines and the moss on fire and it quickly discards this cloak that it's been wearing,
this kind of like camouflage cloak.
And you can see this misshapen, muscular sort of okra skinned creature underneath with like scraggly
white hair sticking out
underneath this bees hive over its face
it has like two powerful
looking arms which are clutching
these stilts but it
the whole it very strange looking
creature it looks quite elderly but still
powerful
hmm
fair enough done I'm done yeah I'm good quill but still powerful. Hmm.
Fair enough.
Done, Hayley?
I'm done.
Yeah, I'm good.
Quill?
I think the short series of events that just happened where Light unveiled Silhouette,
Silhouette unveiled three more,
and then Blinding Light.
I'm basically stunned at this point of what to do.
I've just got no idea what is happening.
So I think I'll just semi-forgo my turn and hold action a Shocking Grasp
if something comes close.
I'm just completely locked in place and blinded
because I just went from darkness to bright light.
So held action, if anything comes close to you, you're going to try and shock and grasp it.
Yeah.
Okay.
Sounds good to me.
This would be...
This is this first one.
The blinded one that was in the wall of light
is going to stumble out of the wall of light.
It is clearly blinded, Kim.
It's looking around,
but it also still seems to have some sort of sense.
Like, you can see that it is still moving
towards the raft somehow.
And it's just going to swing wildly
at the sort of, like, three people within its reach.
So I'm going to roll a d6 here to see who it attacks.
So, Quill, if you want your reaction to go off now,
because it is technically,
potentially might try and target you
Sure, 28
And
Yeah, you'd have advantage because it's blinded as well
So you'd have advantage on that
Oh, well let's see if I get a 20
I do! Holy shit!
Nice! Oh my god, nice!
So
Oh yeah
So 3d8, 24, plus 14, 28, 38 damage on a cantrip.
38 points of damage.
I mean, cantrips, man, that's why rolling to hit with cantrips and stuff,
they do a ton of damage.
Like, 3d8 is a lot.
So as this thing sweeps wildly, you just reach up
and you can see one of these powerful arms now clutching the stilt.
Your little clawed wing kind of reaches out and grabs it and yeah lightning blasts over the creature's body and
you hear this like horrid raspy voice speaking in um if anybody understands sylvan it's speaking in
sylvan and you hear like a kind of hissing voice back towards you.
I believe I just got a headband that allows me to understand the languages.
But do you have that or the Helm of Telepathy currently equipped?
Because remember we said you could only have one of the two equipped at a time.
You'd have to switch between them.
So you can decide that now,
but we just know that means that you don't have that equipped.
We'll say Nova is 1 to 2, Kilik is 3 to 4, Sentry is 5 to 6 on this V6 roll I'm about to make. Sure.
Three! That is a Kilik-ed Kalah.
Fair enough.
It is going to swing at you. It does have disadvantage.
It is going to... Yeah, I think it would try and do this.
Crushing Hut. D That is going to be...
Oh, dissing with disadvantage.
14.
Oh, it still hits.
14 exactly.
Oh.
So this thing scoops Quill up in between its giant stilts
and pulls him into its chest.
You take 36 bludgeoning damage, Quill,
and you are currently grappled.
Oh, wow.
And it's holding you close to its chest,
and it's like...
Looking around.
So it just kind of swung blindly because of the blindness,
managed to grab Quill,
and then just pulled him into the chest.
While being critically bolted as well.
Also, it can't take reactions until the start of its turn.
It can't take reactions now, yeah,
but that wasn't a reaction.
That was its action to do. And then at the end of its turn... It can't take reactions now, yeah, but that wasn't a reaction. That was its action to do.
And then at the end of its turn...
Oh, actually, has it still got a bit of movement left?
It does, but I think it's blind.
It wouldn't probably move.
So I'm just going to make a blindness save.
No, 14, still blinded.
But yeah, runs up and grabs Quill and pulls Quill in, basically.
Wow.
Century seeing this
will just lash out
and try and rescue Quill, I think.
I think she would try and...
A Sentry would play it
and I think Sentry would use an action to try
and pull you back rather than making attack.
I think she would try and break the grapple for you.
She'd want to
try and pick up the raft and use it like a
shield yeah i love it don't don't don't give me ideas uh enlarge stomach oh i rolled a natural
one though so she reaches up grabs quill and is fighting with this creature trying to pull it off
like brand percent tree though let go of him like that's going to be her action to do that.
Fair enough.
Yeah.
Yeah, and I think because you're being grappled,
she doesn't really... I'm going to rule it that she can't quite get a hand on you
to lay on hands,
because things literally covered you up to its chest.
It's holding you super close.
So yeah, that's sentries go.
The other stiltwalkers,
so one is going to make some attacks against Aayla.
You see the others will come rushing up.
5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35.
One's going to rush towards Thalia, in fact.
And then one more that you did not see
comes out of the mist.
Oh, bugger.
It's going to go for Sentry.
So against Ayla, this one's actually going to make three attacks against you.
The first thing it does is the bees hive on its head.
Ayla shoots bees at you.
Cool.
Bees.
Bees.
12 to hit on the bees.
So you kind of see it like you hear it speak a word and this like cone of bees and you throw
yourself into the water as the bees kind of surge forward like um like a bee and then it just tries
to whack you with two of these giant stilts no uh first attack is a 22 no drop yeah and then the
second attack is a failure that's a 16 so only the one hit for 10 points of damage, half to five.
Not very effective against all Aayla.
I don't even move.
I just stand there.
Yeah, you just stand there after avoiding the bees.
The stilt doesn't move me.
Yeah, just almost like cracks against you.
Then it's going to do the same thing to Sentry.
Bees are a hit against century um
yeah she's resistant to poison damage so this is only going to do nine nine points of damage
and then just whack century uh miss on the first attack and miss on the second attack so again Sentry just raised up the shield
these two silts kind of just clashed against it
but then the last one to go
is going to try and grab Thalia
into a hug it's going to reach out and try and
do the same thing it did to Quill
oh shit
12 to hit Thalia
Thalia's AC there
Kim
can you tell Trot to shut up?
Her AC is 12.
She gets grabbed.
Thalia takes
34 points
of bludgeoning damage and she is
grappled.
Damn.
6, 4, 6.
Not having any threat,
this one begins retreating
into the mist, holding Thalia.
I think not.
So it runs in.
You see the shape.
It runs in.
It picks up Thalia, who you hear like, ah!
And then it grabs her, crushes her, and then it begins darting away on its stilts into the fog.
I think not. On Thalia's go, what would you like Thalia to do? into the fog.
On Thalia's go, what would you like Thalia to do?
She can attempt to escape as an action.
Yeah.
I can't do any attacks. You can. You're just at disadvantage
because she's not restrained.
She just grappled. Her speed is zero.
So she can try and shoot.
It would be
strength or dex.
Strength or dex check.
And is it an action to try and wriggle out?
Or is that a saving throw?
An action to break free of the grapple.
Yes.
Okay.
I'll make an action to break free.
So dex is probably my best one.
That'll get a plus three to this.
So 19 plus three, 22.
Nice.
Thalia manages to kind of,
probably I'd kind of do the fiction of it
in that like Thalia gets one of her guns
and manages to like fire at like enough
to cause the creature to like drop her.
She drops into the water.
That's her action.
She does have a movement action, but she would provoke an opportunity attack if she tries to rush back to the water. That's her action. She does have a movement action,
but she would provoke an opportunity attack
if she tries to rush back to the raft.
What do you want Thalia to do?
I think I'll keep her there rather than moving back.
So she just brings her weapons up
and she's going to just try and stand her ground.
Cool.
Lucius.
And then we have Big Cat,
but I don't think Big Cat's going to be able to do much with his exhaustion level and stuff.
So, Lucius.
I'm going to reach out to the one that took Thalia's mind and try and dominate monster.
Oh.
That's a wisdom saving throw of 18.
My dancing lights disappear because this is concentration.
Oh, 19.
I'm sorry.
17 plus 2.
It wasn't even a very good save.
I thought she'd fail this.
But yeah, you reach out to this mind and it's so chaotic.
You can sense that the magic here of the Feywild,
this creature is burning with sort of kind of hatred and hunger,
and its mind is so magically chaotic that you just can't grip it enough
to wrest control of the creature's mind.
You just hear this voice, which you would probably understand
because of the connection of the spell, just like,
no, boy, no control for you.
Yeah, and I just lurch backwards and just, like, grip my head.
I'm going to spend the rest of the turn doing that
and recovering. Sure.
Okay.
Big Cat, I've got his stats up here.
Big Cat, because he can see Thalia's in danger,
is going to leap off into the water like
a big cat does, and he's going to try and attack
this thing.
So he's at disadvantage,
and this is plus five on his bite and claw but he can pounce
uh so this is just okay so plus five to hit
with disadvantage
nope that's gonna be a miss no matter what so like big cat leaps into the water and like
splashing around because he's tired he just can't quite bring his claws to bear against this giant creature but he's like right
next to thalia like desperately trying to protect her um can we go back up to the top with nova
i will immediately uh use the wall of light to blast the creature that is, well, tried to attack my girl.
Okay.
So,
I just clicked off of it for two seconds.
So I need to make an attack roll.
25
points to hit.
That will hit.
And then
19
points of radiant damage.
19 points of radiant damage. 19 points of radiant damage.
The one that was like,
the one that tried to grab Thalia
and has dropped her like,
brings up one of its arms.
It's still arms trying to block its face,
but yeah, it gets blasted by this.
It kind of breaks away some of the beehive
and you can see this kind of stung,
swollen face with a giant bug eye
kind of staring out of this hole now at you
okay um nova is then is immediately as she's doing that like she's gonna run
ayla then quill next by the way uh thalia i have 30 foot movement uh i will incur an opportunity
of attack from the blind boy you normally would but uh quill use shocking graft so it doesn't
have any reactions so it can't take an opportunity attack.
Right before it gets
taken away.
So you kind of splash into the water.
Don't forget, you're at half movement in the water as well.
So I'll probably just...
Like, wading
through, like, trying to pull
your legs as they're getting stuck into the
mud below you, like...
Trying to pull
yourself free and I'll be shouting Thalia's name and that's it I'm fine
she's like I'm fine like Ayla I'm gonna hit again 16 plus 14.
Yeah, that'll hit.
So first one is gonna be 22 damage on the hammer, rolled a 9 on that one, and 2 lightning
damage.
Yep, I mean you crack this one, this one was so heavily injured from your first two attacks.
This, you know, next attack basically brings it to its, like, knees.
Like, one of the stilts breaks.
It kind of, like, half falls into the water.
Heavily, heavily injured at this point.
I hit it again, please.
Yep.
15 plus 14 to hit.
It's dead.
Which I assume hits.
You hit it, it dies.
There's three hit points remaining.
And then I'm going to...
You just watch as Aayla just brings this hammer down.
You hear like a wet kind of like...
And then the thing doesn't move again.
Nice.
I have enough movement to get around to this one
who is with Quill.
So I'm going to just get all up in its grill.
Okay.
Yeah, I mean, you get next to it.
And that's my turn.
It doesn't see you coming.
It's blind, so.
All right.
Quill.
I have...
I was thinking of thunder
waving it but then the
logistics of thunder waving something that is holding
me does it have somatic
components thunder wave
oh it does
so I would argue
that you cannot cast a spell with somatic
components because it's literally like pinning your
arms to your body like you could
weakly attack but you can't really like
do enough complicated gestures to cast a somatic spell yeah actually pinning your arms to your body. You could weakly attack, but you can't really do
enough complicated gestures to cast a somatic spell.
Yeah, okay. In that case, I will just do...
I'll just try and escape the classic way.
So is it a strength save or...?
Athletics or acrobatics for you,
because you're a player character.
Okay.
Oh, it was on the 18!
And then turned to a 2.
4.
You're like wriggling, desperately trying to get loose,
but this thing has got a death grip on you.
It's got a sting.
That's my turn.
At the start of its turn, Quill, you get crushed.
Oh, I've rolled lots of 1s. 25 more points of bludgeoning damage to Quill
as this thing crushes you as it's holding you.
Damn.
And it is blind, but it's just going to try and run.
So Aayla and Sentry both get attacked against this thing.
Get whacking.
12 plus 14
26 hits
do I get my little lightning zap on him
I guess I do
you get the one from the hammer but not your storm aura one
yeah
19 damage
from the hammer and five lightning damage.
Five lightning damage, okay.
And then Sentry's going to make an attack.
26 with Starbreaker, just doing normal for 16 points of damage,
which is between the two of you, as it turns to run with Quill,
Sentry, like, pierces it with Starbreaker,
holding it in place,
which gives you enough time to swing the hammer down
and just break the arm that's holding Quill.
Quill, you go tumbling into the water
as this thing basically turns you around
and it basically threw you in the water
as it gets completely wrecked by your companions.
Is it dead?
Sorry, Quill.
It's dead.
Does it fall on top of me?
I'd say you probably splash into the water next to it.
Like, we'll say that you probably
splash into the water here.
Next to the other one, though.
Oh, fucking distance.
That's way more fun.
That one is dead.
Sentries go properly now.
Oh, no, sorry.
Yeah, because that was its go.
It's now dead.
It damaged you.
It ran away.
It got destroyed.
Sentry on her go will turn around and attack this other one twice
with Starbreaker.
And if she hits, she'll do a Divine Smite.
So 15 hits.
Oh, my God.
Classic Sentry.
Stop role-playing so well.
She's so worried about Quill
that she's like, Quill, are you alright? And then
misses with the first attack and then
brings it up for a second one.
28. That one
will hit. So
that's going to be this amount of
damage. I'm not going to use any of the special stuff. That's
12. And then with Divine
Smite, that's going to be
she'll do it at third level which, that's going to be... She'll do it at third level, which I believe is going to be...
Are you meant to declare the spell level before the hit?
No, with Divine Smite, you work out Divine Smites after you hit.
You just got wrecked.
2d8 plus one for each one above third, so...
Two, three, four.
How many plans spell level?
48.
Plus five because it's another one.
God, Jesus Christ, she's got too much.
So 12 plus 26 for 38 points of damage.
To this one, which is uninjured so far.
So you watch a Starbreaker kind of like smashes in and like the golden light of the matrix uh bursts out
and this thing takes a hefty blow not quite enough to destroy it though
um okay uh after century uh the next the two still walkers are gonna go with uh a bunch of
different opponents uh this one is probably gonna try and grab Thalia again because it managed to grab her last time.
So this one is going to try and grab Thalia for a 22,
which I believe hits her AC.
Yes, it does.
Thalia takes another 41 points of bludgeoning damage and is grappled.
Oh, my God.
Let me just do some quick math.
That's fine.
Oh, dear.
Oh, dear. It's not good. Is she unconscious or close? She's not looking great. She's fine. Oh, dear. Oh, dear.
Is she unconscious or close?
She's not looking great. She's conscious, but she's not looking great.
And yeah,
again, this one is going to run off.
Because you don't have reach,
Kimbus, only Big Cat gets an attack of opportunity.
So 5, 10,
15, 20, 10, 15,
20, sorry, yeah,
20, 25, 30,
45, 40. It goes
running through the mists. It is
like booking it.
What? Yep.
It wants to get its prey. An old
poor big cat. Yeah, big cat misses
with his attack of opportunity. The one that's
left is going to try and do the
same thing to quill it's going to try and grab quill and then try to go running oh my god
you it can see like it can either go for the very heavy metal lady who keeps hitting it
or it can go for the squishy bird it's gonna go 14 what was that to hit uh 14 yeah yeah
quill you take 38 points of bludgeoning damage
and your graph picks you up out of the water
and then it's going to make a run
and Sentry's already used her opportunity attack.
Damn.
This one is like...
This one's been hit hard.
It got hit hard by Sentry,
but it goes running out into the mists, Quill,
like it's carrying you and running away.
And I think that's probably...
No, we'll finish this off.
We've got Thalia and Lucius to go,
and then we'll take a break there.
So what's Thalia going to do?
Gibbous?
Wriggle.
Wriggle, that's her action.
So dex or strength?
14 dex.
Not enough.
Not enough.
Wriggling, but this thing is holding tighter now.
Having let her go once, it's not letting go again.
And it goes chasing off.
And they're both going in different directions,
which brings us to the best bit,
which is Lucius Viranillo in Elasto.
Why?
You see Thalia being carried off in one direction. You see Thalia being carried off in one direction.
You see Quill being carried off in another direction.
What do you do?
Chromatic Orb, Twinned.
What level?
Oh shit, nice.
Fifth.
You're just hitting both.
Sixth level.
He doesn't have to choose.
Sixth level.
He doesn't have to choose, no, absolutely.
This is the hero moment.
I want to see it happen.
So this is the first one.
24.
It's the first one.
Natural 20.
Natural 20.
32.
That one's for Quill.
Now, here's an important question.
Which one do you want to hit with a natural 20?
Thalia's one or Quill's one?
Okay. All right.
I know it's more injured, but it's an RP thing.
It's Quill's.
Yeah, it's an RP thing.
I love it.
All right.
Let's get some damage rolls.
Sixth level.
I'm going to use acid.
Sure.
Oh, my God.
There's so much dice on my screen.
No, wait. That's 88. No, that's double the dice amount.
Oh my god, yeah you rolled 16d8.
How did I do that?
Alright, half it. 44.
Just half it, 44. It doesn't work that way.
Roll it again, properly.
That's the proper crit rules we're doing.
That's true, yep. Alright,, so the ones are twos so
29 there is this Thalia's one or is this cool? I'll do it in order that I rolled it
So this is Thalia's one. Okay, so 29 points of damage to Thalia's one
That that one is still standing so you see the acid splash over his back, but it is running with the...
This one is dead.
Even without the crit run.
Hang on, let's figure out the damage.
That's a lot of damage.
I'm letting you know it is dead.
96.
Oh my God.
That's maxed.
So you watch...
Lucius kind of spins this out.
You watch Lucius as you kind of let your eyes
flicker open, you pull the orange
you can probably see Quill's little orange cloak
in the distance, you pull the orange
from that to form the acid orbs
send them both flying out
the one that connects to the stilt walker
carrying Quill, you watch it
splash over its back
and Quill, you just fall into the water
as melted pieces of hag fall around you.
And you can see now that this creature was some sort of hag
on stilts with like this coverage.
And it's just like melted into body parts around you.
112 damage.
112 damage.
That was half of your spell as well.
You twin spelled it to another dude.
I twinned it, yeah.
Yeah.
Oh, my God.
The other one carrying Thalia, though, injured.
You hear it heavily breathing,
but, yeah, you can hear it in the distance sloshing,
quite desperately trying to get through the muck.
And, yeah, that is where we're going to take a quick break.
Oh, it's still standing. What a moment.
Stop Thalia.
I mean, Lucius is one there.
Like, holy crap, what an amazing twin is one there. Like, holy crap.
What an amazing spell that was.
Like the perfect opportunity.
Like the delta splitting.
I love that you framed it as like,
you have to choose Lucius.
And Trot was just like, no, don't.
So good.
Both.
Both is good.
Both is good.
Both is good.
Nice.
Well, that's brilliant.
Whilst you go and buy your dice sets, Tom Hazel's going to read out some messages and we're going to take a quick little break. Both is good. Both is good. Both is good. Nice. Well, that's brilliant.
Whilst you go and buy your dice sets, Tom Hazel's going to read out some messages and
we're going to take a quick little break.
I am.
I am.
But I'm also going to remind you that the announcement at the very start of the episode,
if you missed it, then go back and watch it.
But the lowdown is we got ourselves a studio now, baby.
Hell yeah.
What the?
And we will be setting it all up.
Studio!
Good God!
And there is a stream this Saturday starting at 12pm UK time going on until 12.
Studio!
Maybe.
It might go on for longer.
It might go on for longer.
It's a 12 plus hour stream.
I'll say that much.
Saturday.
Saturday at 12pm UK time on this channel.
And, well, I say this channel. I rolled as D&D that channel.
We're going to be playing games, we're going to be doing a big fundraiser
to get the Office of Our Dreams, the stream of your dreams.
So look forward to that. Thank you.
