Trying to save the Ganassi city of Vortensar from a terrible fate, the champions of Erois have been attempting to aid a resistance group called the Seekers to help influence the city from within. However, whilst trying to sabotage the supplies of the Valkyrian Empire forces in the city, a turn of unfortunate events caused significant chaos and exposed the party and has forced the city's leader, Harmony, and their ally, Shansara, to accelerate their plans for the city. With little time left, their identity is exposed, and the enemy forces on high alert,

the party have few options left to save Vortensar. That is where we begin this session. We fucked up. No, no, no. The dice were unkind and a series of unfortunate events. You know, it's just the way it is. Just a little bit louder than we want it to be, that's all. I'm genuinely quite scared for today.

After the last session, I was up until like two in the morning just thinking about things. Like, just, yeah. Don't worry about it. It's all fun and games. Even if the worst possible thing happens, what a great story it will become. Think of that.

Vorten's side crumbles. Completely destroyed. All that hard work you put in. I love trauma. A beautiful backstory. Trauma is great. Like that giant document of stuff that you make for us. I mean, it's had its use. It's been put to use.

So, to summarize the out of character information for you guys, or sort of meta knowledge information for you guys, you arrive, you take this transport, you had stolen this planetary Valkyrian transport, this Magitek aircraft transport. You've stolen that basically. You have taken it.

It's taken you a few hours to go and hide it somewhere in the city. I believe in the fire district you decided, and you have had to find a new safe house. And we're going to basically jump into the next day. And there has been no time for a long rest. You can take a short rest if you would like. That is as much as you can get right now. Can I attune to things during this?

Yes, you can. You can attune to stuff in a one-hour gap. Actually, I didn't unattune. It's just in the bag. Is it just the one thing that you can attune to things during this? Yes, you can. No, you can attune to multiple items, yeah, as long as you want to attune. As a record, your incognito score, which was determining how well hidden you were in the city,

is currently at zero. This means that when you go out into the city with your current disguises uh you are basically there your current disguises are useless you will be recognized for who you are um and attacked on site uh you will also uh yeah be sort of like there is high high alert the the valkyrian forces the ganassi forces here are actively looking for not just you guys but the seekers and general you know trouble out of curiosity yes how much did our incognito score get affected after our first mission that we did uh after the first mission i can't remember the exact numbers i think it was at around like

uh it was like 16 when you began that mission and then it was like eight by the time that mission ended um uh but then you kind of like built it back up a little bit and it kind of got back up to i think a 13 and then that last mission it was just like um mainly because uh yeah unfortunately quill the etherealness and then century turning back and this inquisitor who was able to see through the magical disguises and stuff kind of really messed up that plan. And the inquisitor arriving up, this is just a bit out of knowledge game,

the inquisitor and the acolyte of Shinsara arriving for an inspection was a random chance event that was a complication. Yeah, that was a random complication. There were several other things that could have happened in that mission. That was the one I rolled for it. It's interesting though how we say

random, but sometimes random just matches up perfectly. So well. Other options were going to be that there was another squad of Seekers who didn't know you were going to be there. Awkward. And they were causing trouble. They were going to try and blow it all up and stuff like that. And then the

other one was that the air transport was going to take off sooner than you were expecting. It would have literally, like, Nova would have been in it and they would have been like, right, let's move in. And. So again, like, it's just sometimes the narrative goes in a certain way.

You begin the next day and this is the final day because in the early hours of the morning, just after you have completed a short rest, you've arrived at this new safe house, Norfear, Tornado, a few of the other Seekers, they're trying to basically coordinate what has just happened. And before there's a chance to really sit down with them,

Norfear calls you and is like, "'You will need to see this.' And will call you into a sort of main sort of huddled like meeting area where again like there are maps and diagrams and information laid out and one of these crystalline screens one of these magitek screens from the valkyrian empire has been pulled in it looks like it's been sort of adjusted and you know uh hacked almost uh to like feed into the city system. And a projection is played upon it, an illusory projection, this kind of illusory television system.

On the crystalline screen, a pair of figures appear. One, the brightly dressed and beautiful Eladrin woman that you have encountered once before, Shansara, a musician and propaganda specialist previously working for Kallus Valkyrian. Beside her is a Ganassi, but unlike any Ganassi most of you have ever seen before, the exception being Nova.

The Ganassi is not much older than Nova. They are dressed in ornate ceremonial robes that cover their head and most of their body. Their skin... How many dice did you just roll? I don't know what we thought. No, it was funny. What's up there with Coke can opening?

It's just the leader of Bortens, RKE. Fine, I'm just going to let it sit for a minute and then jump back in. It's just ten dice, it's fine. Archaea. Fine, I'm just going to let it sit for a minute and then jump back in. It's just 10 dice, it's fine. It's fine. Their skin appears almost glass-like or like a very clear crystal substance lit from within by a fiery glow. Steam, or maybe smoke, radiates off of them as well.

Their robes ripple around them as if caught in a gust of wind and their eyes are like pools of turquoise water that ripple when they blink. My dear citizens, they begin. Several hours ago, in the dead of night, a group of soldiers sent by the powerful kingdoms of Erois attacked a military station used by our French Ansara's forces. Powerful weapons and equipment were stolen and several soldiers were killed. This follows the recent attacks on our beloved Atlas Academy as well.

Harmony, the leader of Vortensar, falters for a moment and Shansara softly touches their shoulder and continues speaking for them. My beloved friends, the ones responsible for this attack are the so-called champions of Aroes, who have opposed anyone from this world joining the Valkyrian Empire. They are powerful and dangerous figures, and their presence can only mean that the armies of their allies are on their way to stop our efforts of taking you home. We believe them to be working with a group called the Seekers, as the leader of these Seekers, the former Skyjauster Tornado,

is the brother of the Erosian champion Nova Vigia. But do not be afraid, my dear friends. We will not let them stop us, or you, from returning home. Your guiding star will light the way. She smiles brightly into the projection and then takes a step back, urging Harmony forward once more. We have been working with Shansara and her incredible artifices and engineers to develop a powerful planar teleportation device that will break through the goddess Siaska's barrier and take us home to Ganass, using the old magic that brought us here but improved

and developed with the minds of bright young Ganassi and our new friends in the Empire. This device is now ready and with the threat of Erois upon us, we will not waste any time to use it. Tonight, Shansara will put on an incredible concert in the heart of the city which will be open to the public and broadcast across the entire city, live for all to enjoy. It will be a celebration of Vortensar's history and struggle with performers from throughout the city and of course the wonderful songs of our friend, our guiding star herself. And at the end of this concert we will activate the device and go home. To the Se the seekers and these so-called champions of eros i give one warning leave today we will not stop you any who wish to leave may do so

we all just want to go home and we will not let anyone stop this incredible moment in our history. And with that, the projection ends. I hate this. I hate it. I hate it. I hate it. That's Kim. I was going to say, is that like I need to know if that's in character or not. Sorry, are we roleplaying right now? Yeah, we are. The safehouse,

a very run-down old warehouse, perhaps one of the last few safehouses the Seekers now have left, is silent. Norfear kind of thinking. You can see her kind of hands folded onto her chin, closed eyes, almost meditative in state. Tornado kind of pushes his hands through his cloudy hair and takes a long breath, kind of folds his arms but for the first time you see some of that unshakable confidence that when you met him that sort of optimistic sunny attitude is not quite present in fact the only one who seems to still have any sort of

enthusiasm is the young firebrand fuego who is pacing up and down and shadow boxing in the corner almost as if trying to psych himself up for another fight. Having seen... Well, it's partly DM discretion. I believe it is all DM discretion. Yeah, yeah. Well, it's partly kind of Nova's history. I feel like Harmony would have maybe made one odd public appearance or broadcast or something in the past.

How do they compare the way they were speaking now? Well, I think the only... My belief of this would be that Nova probably would have only ever seen Harmony once when you were quite younger. And they were young as well. They aren't much older than you. They were... When the previous Harmony passed on,

this new Harmony kind of was chosen or not necessarily because it's by birth right like they it has like a successional kind of generational element right to it um they were the next in line to take over and they were very young um and so they're not much older than you so you've maybe seen them once um before um they they yeah from i mean you can make make an insight check with disadvantage as well you weren't there in person it could have been edited went there man i don't even know if i should roll for that because i'm minus one i did roll a 20 i rolled a 20 and a 10 but um i'm pretty sure i'm minus one on insight. Hard to read people. Yeah.

Yeah, let's just say minus one. Nine. Yeah, it's through the screen. It fits with what you know, but it's not like you really knew Harmony. It's not like you've really seen them. I mean, they were nervous, but it was almost like a stage fright almost or like uncertain at public speaking.

The only thing I'd say is that there was this moment where Shansara like touched their shoulder. But it wasn't like, pull them back, let me speak. It was, there was an element of comfort, like something you would do to a friend. Like, you know, it was a comforting kind of like, it's okay, like, you know, you take a second off. Charm person.

Yeah, it could be, it could be. Like, with a nine, you're not sure. Maybe it could have been charm person. You've seen Lucius use spells that can control someone's mind and make them seem like a friend and stuff like that. Lucius looks really constipated when he does that, though. How long ago was this broadcast? Just now. Norfail will just say just now.

It's being repeated. We managed to hack into one of the systems that's replaying it. It's being broadcast all over the city. Is there a way we can broadcast to the city? Not from here. To the whole city? You see like Norfair thinking, this concert,

they've not done a citywide live broadcast before. Normally it's sent out per district or to certain regions and then it's kind of copied and mirrored. Makes it harder to kind of get something out. But if they're going to broadcast this concert to everyone at once, I imagine that would be the time. And there'll be a system in place wherever they are. They'll have to have Magitek and they'll have to have systems. I don't know Magitek very well, but from what we've seen and what I've learned being here, and she'll kind of gesture over to Bolt and maybe some of the other Ganassi, they know a little bit more, if I'm right, that they'll need to have local control of something like that, right?

And Bolt will say, I'm more of a planar specialist, but we can probably find somebody who has more knowledge of this magitek. But yes, my understanding is that there would need to be, yeah, they would need to have something local nearby, perhaps part of the concert itself. Devices to record, devices to broadcast, devices to project and power. It would all be connected. Highly secured. We've been able to destroy these screens. We've been able to disable these broadcasts, but we've not been able to send out any of

our own. We just, we don't have the Magitek to do it. We don't have the magitek to do it. We've had experience with magitek. What do we know? Could we figure out a way to break into that broadcast? I want to speak to the people of Vortensar. Is there a way I could maybe use my echo? My echo can... I don't know if it's a Magic Tech device as such,

but it can see, is there a way we can use the Echo to maybe then use that as some kind of recording device and maybe then find a way to plug that into the mainframe, use it to film? What are we missing to be able to broadcast? Is it power? We've got power. We've got things that can potentially help. It's not necessarily power.

The problem is that even if you have a device to record and power as such, it's these systems, these screens, these audio players, everything built into the city, it's all protected by a Valkyrian control, I don't know what to call it, some sort of system, I guess. And that is, I mean, i don't think any of us have got any experience in being able to hijack it uh you know more about this than i think any of us nova vj you i think you and your companions have had more experience with it nor fear will kind of

say like yes from where we what lucas has told me you had some experience aboard some of their ships correct you've infiltrated their ships before. I don't think we could do anything from here. However, go to where they're doing this concert with your device, this echo, and if you have a way of powering it, you may be able to hijack into their system, override their broadcast. It wouldn't be easy. I don't know how you would do it but it could be possible would um tiangong having been sort of merged with valkyrian systems before would they have any insight or ability to

help with kind of coming breaking through this system or yeah i think that like because you guys kind of have a bit more of a symbiosis at the moment so kind of sensing these questions in your mind tiangong will probably not manifest but speak through the blade as they've done previously i believe that it would be possible if i were to able to gain access to their systems if i knowing shansara this will be a reconfigured system she is unlikely to be using old valkyrian codes much like zarkira has changed many of her systems. But give me time, and I would potentially be able to activate it. But I would need to be present locally.

Present within access, direct physical contact with the console. So we need to find out a central broadcast system, which is probably going to be local to where this concert is being held. Then Tiangong can try and access it. Maybe Echo can help broadcast it. Tornado will actually say, "'Sis, that's all well and good, "'and I know you wanna speak to all the people,

"'but I mean, what are we gonna do about these devices? "'If they, even if you can speak to everybody, "'that's not gonna stop Harmony and Shansara from activating these devices, right? We still need to do something about those, right? I mean, that's number one. That was, yeah, that wasn't the whole plan. Oh, sorry.

No, no, no, you're right. I just want people to know another side. Yeah. They're only to know another side. They're only being fed one side. Well, you guys have done great work. I mean, we know that you've had an impact on the city. Like, more and more people are talking about it, bros. You know?

Probably we could plug Quill's eye and Quill's mind into something that projects onto a screen. Because then everyone would see it and people would be like, well, I don't really wanna risk imploding. Potentially, but this is Norfin, Norfin will say, but I think you've had similar discussions before. The people here, they don't know Quill.

They'll just see it as, it would be no different to the way you feel about these broadcasts of the Shansara. They would just see it as you telling a story that what might happen. They don't understand. I mean, potentially, but it would still just be your word against theirs.

They have no way of believing this vision. I mean, I know we all trust Quill. We know his visions to be true, but the people here don't. I'm not under any illusion that I can convince everyone otherwise, especially with the amount of time we have, but if I could just plant a seed and just show them who we are,

you know, that we're not to be feared, that's all I want to do. And also, if the second part of the plan is, well, what popped into my head last time, an hour ago, last Sunday, no, an hour ago, well, if we're gonna destroy giant parts of the city, we need to tell people to move, to run, to be safe. People will be at the concert.

Is that our time, instead of broadcasting, to go to the places that these devices are? Well, it might be that we have to do multiple things, different things at the same time. Norfeo will nod and say, like, that would be my assessment as well. Knowing what we know about this city and about Harmony and shansara these devices

and bolt can speak more to this whilst you've all been influenced in the city and we've done we've made some progress to try and learn more about these devices there's still a lot we don't know but one thing we think we've discovered thanks to the students is um the devices themselves are situated around the city we believe that from Quill's vision, you believe them to be in the statues or nearby to these statues, drawing on the elemental ley lines here. And Bolt, and she'll kind of gesture,

Bolt, you should perhaps explain this. He's like, whilst the devices themselves may be near the statues, there'll be a control system. There will be an activation switch. If Harmony and Shansara are going to use this concert as this grand spectacle, one of them likely has the switch to activate them. I think that at this stage, if they've accelerated the plans this far,

we need to be able to disable these devices, but you may also need to go and stop them from activating them as well. And you're the only ones I think capable of doing that. We know that Chansara is powerful. Her allies are powerful. And we don't have the numbers to storm the central district by force. It could be that given time, we have a few hours, 10, 12 hours before this concert, we could try and track down these devices. You may be able to stop them before the concert, but worst case scenario, the Seekers, Tornado, Fuego, the others,

we could try and attack the devices to at least destroy one, or at least disrupt them or slow them down or something. But it's up to you. It's your choices. My last-ditch idea was to destroy one of the statues because if they don't have a key point in the ley lines that won't i don't believe that that will stop them i think that that will there is a chance it could fail there is also a chance you could bring about the very thing you're trying to stop. That's the wonderful thing about visions of the future, isn't it? You don't know how much you had a part in that. The more of these...

If we can disable or destroy all four devices, then yes, we know it won't work. I don't know how desperate this Harmony and Shansara are. The fact that they're willing to accelerate their plans because you attack that base, I have a feeling that they would try and activate these devices, no matter how many of them they destroy.

I just don't even understand her motivations in the first place. That's one thing we've puzzled over, and Tornado's like, none of us really understand it, but I mean, from Norfyr's trying to get as close as possible, right? And you don't think she's being mind-controlled?

Norfear's like, I'm not an expert on people, but I've known liars in my time, and studying her as best as I could, studying Shansara, this is, and studying Harmony, I can't see an influence of magic there. From what I can tell, this Harmony is acting, they are acting as they, without any influence, much as much as the rest of the city has been. We've found no evidence of magical compulsion here in anyone. We haven't felt anything since we got here, so it probably just seems right.

Good old-fashioned talking. All right, let's lay out our options given the limited time we have. We know that it has to be activated. Yeah, so just also just to confirm, so you guys will have three time units, like the one we've been previously doing it, right? And you had the three quarters of the day. You guys are at the beginning of a brand new day the concert will take place this evening so that's going to give you morning afternoon and then the

early evening but that early evening if you are not pre if you go away anywhere you will not be able to go to this concert you will not be able to engage with that concert that there's almost like a reserve thing so you kind of have two free and then that last one could be used to go to the concert think of that as a mission you have now unlocked um those two time segments are free to for you to use the nor fear tornado and the seekers will tell you that this concert will be heavily guarded um and that there will probably now be additional you know in fact i will say nor fear knows that there will probably now be additional you know in fact i will say nor fear knows that there's going to be additional security that having that after your attack the there's been talk amongst the valkyrian troops of uh using drones that have the ability to

detect creatures with magic using so to prevent like because they saw quills using etherealness and invisibility and so they are now like right well we know what they can do we're going to try and modify our defenses to overcome it so things like etherealness and invisibility will now be considered by the enemy as like a they might be sneaking around doing this so they've adapted these drones to have a true sight effect okay um so lucius and i have amulets of proof against detection and location. Would that help? That doesn't necessarily stop magic being detected, does it? It wouldn't stop things like etherealists. Like Truesight, if you go ethereal,

even if you're wearing one of these amulets, Truesight will still see you. What that does prevent those amulets, prevent things like scrying, they prevent things like clairvoyance and other kind of magical senses from detecting you. So yeah, things like arcane eyes um clairvoyance and other kind of magical sensors from detecting you so yeah things like arcane eyes or clairvoyance spells or things like alarm that would actually protect you against those um but unfortunately things like true sight would still or like being

invisible it doesn't hide you from that you know it doesn't do anything more than that, basically. As I was saying... So, yeah, continue. We have limited time. We know that there are four devices, and we know now that there is an activation, and it's likely to be the people at the very top that are going to do it. Shansara and Harmony.

What I think we could use our time for is discovering if we can find and deactivate as many devices as we can before the concert, but also I'm worried if we put all our eggs in one basket, so to speak, and go for that activation device, what if they have a backup device? We put all our, hedge all our bets on this one thing, deactivating it, and they just have another one. That's my worry. So maybe we do as much as we can to figure out if that's the only activation device they have.

At all. You could try and, yeah, that's something you could research and try and figure out. What if we do both, though? That's what happens. Yeah, yeah. So we could split, some people are looking for happens. Yeah, yeah. So we could split. Some people are looking for the four devices,

where they are near the statues in the centre, and the other party can find out if the only activation device, that's the only one that exists. And in terms of the devices, the seekers can still try and take them out as well. Like, you know, it's not just you guys have to take out all four like if you guys can find them two or something yeah or or you know they'll be like and and the thing is as well is you've got a factor in that going after those

devices is a mission that's that's a time slot right um so it's going to come down to so it'd be like research mission and then evening if yeah all Yeah, and I think Norf will say, yes, if that's what you want to do, keep in mind if you want to go and face Harmony, if you want to try and allow Nova to speak to the city, you're going to need a way into that concert, and that will require some time to find a way to do that. I know, Lucius, you procured some nobility outfits, and you have a tailor, you have this person. They're so close to do that. I know Lucius you procured some nobility outfits

and you have a tailor, you have this person. They're so close to using them. Well they could be used now. That may be a way that you can help get into this concert at least. The more preparation you can do to get inside, the easier that will

be. This is my way of saying. I've got a bit of Mark leaking in there. No, that's me way of saying like going into this concert is going to be heavily guarded and like the more prep like if you spend time segments to be like well we're gonna like find ways to get in like I'm gonna get my I'm gonna try and get a job as a performer and so I can be a backup dancer or whatever that's like will help it make it a lot easier for that section so obviously you can't do everything and I'm purposely going here's lots and lots of things you can so obviously you can't do everything and i'm purposely going here's lots and lots of things you can do but you can't do everything so you need to pick and that's really what the choice is about all right so depending on how much time it takes maybe first

quarter is two parties one going for the devices finding out where they are. If we have the Seekers to help with that. So we have like two statues, two statues maybe. And then the other party. Could Norfair lead a small party of Seekers to one of the devices? Absolutely, I can take, but not to find it. I'm still, much like you guys, I am very highly wanted in the city. I was saying we have to be careful because we're very wanted. Yes, it will make your DCs a lot higher.

We should probably focus on the research and the getting into the concert part and have other people scout where the things are because we're attack on site at the moment. I wonder if the transport ship that we commandeered could access a system of some kind or information. Yeah, potentially. We did hear that message when we were on the ship. Yeah.

It has a communication system built in. It's like a radio. Perhaps we could use that to... I don't know how all this techie, wacky stuff works. Magic techie. Yeah, no, you absolutely can do that. It will be in a similar way to when you

make other skill checks, that would be an Arcana check to use Magitek knowledge to try and be like, well, I'm going to reconfigure the system so I can hack the police radio and be like, oh, there's a lot of reports of troops moving in and stuff like that. Potentially, yeah. Depends on the skill check.

Yeah, you'd probably be best if I did that. Yeah, you'd probably be best at it. We've got Quill here as well. Obviously, Tom's not here to talk, but you can use him. He does have a charge on the eye left as well. Yeah. He does. He's got a 15 portent as well.

Bless him. I just missed them all. So, yeah, in terms of Norfear, basically, so the way it will work, Norfear and Tornado will both lead teams to take out a device when you find them. To try and find them, like the research side of things, you've got Fuego and Goliath who can also help you as well. And Bolton. Yeah, they are basically like the background guy who's making all of the research work. Yeah, he's kind of the one who is, everybody's bringing Bolt information,

and then Bolt's the one who's piecing it all together and being like, they're here, this is how we access it, this is what we need to do. So he's kind of like a neutral part of the equation right now. Two things. Yes. How does one drop the disguise? Cause currently I'm a man. The chemical part of that disguise is you can go back to K,

and K has a neutralizing agent that will basically, the chemical part, the potion that you drank that changed your gender, K has a potion that will neutralize that and revert you back to how you were born um so you can do that um the rest of the skies like the the magical disguise can be you just need to let k know and they'll end the spell um and then the physical like the clothing and stuff is just normal yeah this guy's clothing you can tear like the prosthetics off and stuff like that so i just feel like if i'm gonna give a speech yeah

probably you want to be nova at this point yeah k can give you a neutralizing agent would that take a segment or no i'd say that won't if you want a brand new disguise that takes a segment but no i'd say this is a quick stop by like 20 minutes at some point yeah in the first thing so you become nova yeah like sadly like you know i would have liked to explore this body a bit more. Maybe, you know, pull a prank on Thalia, but no. What? Do that kind of like, hey babe, like trying to do like really cringy flirting. And it's like, it's me. A barge?

You send Echo out and you kind of have to use different safe houses, like move with Echo because they can't get too far from you. But with Echo's help, yeah, you can scout the area around it.

And I'd say between you doing this and Lucius building, like having these disguises and everything else, you guys are pretty confident you have a decent way in. Like you're still going to have to probably try and tell some lies and do some stuff to get inside, but you have a fairly decent way in.
