PICK AXE
Hello, welcome back to part two of High Rollers of Rois. The party have travelled deep into the wild woodlands of Alcerath
on a hunt, a great hunt, a beast hunt, a monster hunt.
As they try and track down the beast,
one of the three great beasts of Italicus,
Stone Moor.
After kind of making some discussions and preparations
for their tactics in the battle,
as well as a skill challenge to try and track down Stone Moor
and lay a trap and ambush for them as well,
the party which they succeeded,
the party now are preparing to battle the beast himself
i would like you all to tell me where on this battle map you would like to be placed
is like a big open glade um there is not much in terms of cover and things like that this is uh
everything apart from this is dense sort of woodland really um so whereabouts would you like to be the other members
of your hunting party rather than having the the map crawling with like 30 random skeletons to
represent wild elves i'm just putting basically the wild elves out in sort of like the corners
of the around the sort of the edge of the tree line sure um here so that does mean that any sort
of like um you know if you guys cast a spell that has an area and it overlaps with a board,
like the tree line, any of these kind of tree parts on the terrain,
or if you want to think of it in your minds, if you're listening on podcast,
the kind of outer borders of the battle area,
any templates that overlap that is going to hit those members of the party.
Right, okay.
So just keep that in mind.
I'm happy where I am,
just dead center
within range of everybody.
All right.
Keep an eye out.
Dead center.
Are we still in,
is this like a clearing?
This is like a clearing.
This is a clearing.
You're running right out.
Well, so what they've done
is they've done
these little shallow
potholes,
and then using
your camouflage coats
kind of like
you're going to be sort of hiding down.
You are, this is like an ambush.
You will, you know,
the beast won't know you're there, hopefully,
until you're in place.
Yeah.
I want to be in range of everyone.
I'm wearing my greens and browns,
but I'm flying.
It's a floating piece of dirt.
I'm a big leaf.
A leaf in the wind. And also, yeah, I'm flying. It's a floating piece of dirt. I'm a big leaf. A leaf in the wind.
And also, yeah, I'm assuming at this point
you're going to start getting all your magic items out
and stuff like that as well.
Your weapons and stuff.
Yeah.
Yeah?
Nah, I'm going to just go in nothing.
Fists.
Sure.
I'm going to wait for Aayla to throw stuff to me
when the fight begins.
Well, you guys decide where you want to go.
No, I'm not doing that.
I'm going to start with the other characters.
Varnir is going to be here on the northern end of, the southern end, I guess,, you guys decide where you want to go. No, I'm not doing that. The other characters. Varnir is going to be here
on the northern end of,
the southern end, I guess,
for you guys of the map.
Northern end.
Stanna is going to be over
on the...
West.
West.
East.
I'll put Morgaine
over on the opposite side
and then Rethro will be
sort of over near Varnir
on the...
North. Is itier on the north.
Is it coming from the north?
Where is it, which direction?
You know where it's gonna be.
The idea is that when it's in the field
is when you'll spring the ambush.
Okay.
This is like, you've identified this
as being the right place, it hasn't found you.
You will get a chance to basically, you know.
Can I ask Gaelid to help me climb a tree?
Sure.
I want to be up in a tree.
Okay.
The one... I was going to be down by the rock. North?
So we're going to have Nova sort of like up
here. Yeah, how
high do you think I'm going to climb?
She's dead.
Let me get my heights in.
I'm parma-dead.
All right, so you're in a tree.
Yes, I would like to be in a tree.
Next to Vanya.
Yeah, the tree probably goes up about 10 feet.
Aayla's going to be over by a large rock
in the sort of southern area.
Can you remove the...
Yes.
Yeah, go. Yes. Just put it in the sort of southern area. Can you remove the... Yes. Yeah, go on.
Yes.
Just put it in the bin.
I think I'll put sentry in the, like,
in this, like, bottom south.
The furthest point for me to reach, Trey.
Absolutely, of course.
Anywhere you wanna go.
Yeah, let Trot do it.
You've got Baba.
Yeah, that's fine.
What about Lucius?
Gwil's just like, yay!
Lucius will be right next to Quill.
Two little buds in a little hole in the ground together.
You want to hold hands?
This is my hole.
My hole? I was literally here for-
Well, fine, we'll share the hole.
What?
I don't know.
Right.
Double-team this hole real quick.
Just as a reminder on some of the mechanics,
your allies, they're not going to be making attack rolls.
They don't necessarily have traditional hit points and defenses and things like that.
When you want them to do a specific thing,
you have to tell them on your turn that you want them to do that as a uh it's typically if well if you want them to do
something like move to a certain place it's just a free action you just literally yell at them what
to do they each have a special move that they can do um for most of them you either have to be
next to them uh or they you have to be within a certain range of them, right?
Right.
So, for example, for Morgaine's,
Morgaine needs to be within 5 feet of the target
and you have to be within 30 feet of Morgaine.
Oh, right. Okay, yeah.
For Sanah, you and Sanah must both be within 15 feet of the target.
Right? Right.
And I'll tell you what they do when you activate them
i'm going to tell you what they do before then rethra is you have to be within 15 feet of rethra
um that's it you just have to be within 15 feet of rethra okay um and uh vanya and the hunter party
you can do from anywhere same with the dragons you can do this from anywhere and are they are they
all like offensive abilities or uh no i'll tell you a little bit about what they do i'd say that
morgane and sanders are both offensive they'll basically they'll be delivering a kind of combo attack with
you rethras is a bit different rethra can basically use his chain x because he's fire based and he
knows that that's not going to be very effective against the creature he's going to be using his
powers to basically um kind of move you around so he can move you okay he can basically help you propel you to a point and then
he also can invigorate you with magical flame sure okay cool offensive and one defense that was gone
that was rethra what was rethra's range sorry you have to be within 15 feet of rethra did they give
us they said they were going to give us like grapply things yeah i'd say yeah they gave you
um they're pretty simple it's
basically like a kind of a modified version of a hand crossbow um it is uh instead of an attack
you can basically use that to fire it if you hit with it uh then you basically get pulled up to on
top of the creature basically if you want to um it's basically a way to make instead of having
to climb and make an athletics check or anything like that or jump you can use those to get there um the only problem is that they take
a full action to reload you basically have to like fire it and then what's the range on that
on the grappley yeah the shooters it'll be the same as um a standard hand crossbow so i think
it's up to 90 feet i think okay so it like 90 feet. 30 feet is the standard short range.
90 feet is the long range I'm thinking of.
So does it have like 90 feet of rope or chain?
No, it's 30 feet.
Or 30 feet of chain or rope.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Okay.
And can we say we're in position to the allies,
that we're in position and waiting for him?
Lucius?
Yeah, I mean, yeah, that's down to you guys.
We need to message and say that we're waiting for a stone maw.
Hello.
Who are you contacting?
The top rune, and then press the bottom rune.
Hello.
Okay.
Yeah, you press the top rune, and you hear Danica, like, yes, storm chasers, this is
Danica.
Are you in position?
Hello.
Hello, Captain.
Hello, Lucius.
It's testing.
It's working. It is indeed working. Can you hear me? Yes, I can hear you, Captain. Hello, Lucius. It's testing. It's working.
It is indeed working. Can you hear me?
Yes, I can hear you.
Yes.
Are you in position?
Wow.
She's coming right out.
Can you guys hear her?
Can we hear her?
Quill can.
I can.
I can hear it, yeah.
Hello.
You still there?
Hello, yes.
You still there?
Yes, I'm still here, Lucius.
Are you in position?
Oh, yes.
I don't know if these things have unlimited magical energy.
We should perhaps not waste them.
Oh, okay.
You hang up.
It ends.
She hung up.
I really tried the other rune.
Okay, yeah, it goes through,
and you hear Baroness Erin Carlson,
just like, yes, storm chasers.
This is Baroness.
Oh, can you hear me?
Yes, I can hear you. Can you hear me? Yes. Baroness is oneson, just like, yes, Stormchasers. This is Baroness. Oh, can you hear me? Yes, I can hear you.
Can you hear me?
Yes.
Baroness is one, it's like,
like she's underwater,
but it's kind of muffled a little bit like this.
It kind of has that muffled...
You're underwater?
Yes, I am.
Amazing.
I'm not.
Yet we're able to talk to each other.
It's amazing, right?
Oh, my God.
Are you in position?
Oh, yes.
Yes, we are, yes.
So is Danica, by the way. I don't know if you've sent... So everything is prepared. Are you in position? Oh, yes. Yes, we are, yes.
So is Danica, by the way.
I don't know if you've sent...
So everything is prepared.
Oh, you should try it with her.
I will do now that you've contacted us.
Yes, you're a coordinator.
Amazing.
So we are pressed to attack, yes?
Oh, yes.
That would be great.
Very good.
Okay.
Hey, Colin.
They keep hanging out.
We have to tell them when we're...
Oh, yeah.
...going to attack.
Well, I guess when it's right next to us.
Well, I mean, yeah.
I mean, Lucius has just basically told them, like,
you can go to engage now, basically.
You can, like, start moving to engage.
You wait for...
I mean, it's not a long period of time.
Like, the hunters, and Ayla, you would know this,
like, being a hunter is being patient.
Like, you have to wait.
They don't want to spook stone more or like give anything
away so it is a long period of waiting it's like maybe an hour maybe two of just waiting um but
as that second hour begins to draw to a close you do hear this kind of rhythmic Boom. Boom. Boom. Is the sentry moving around?
Those of you who can see,
begin to just see the tops of these huge,
like, you know, some of these trees are massive
and you begin to see them.
Boom.
A little tiny pool of water next to Quill and Lucius.
Boom.
Yeah.
Boom.
Ooh. Ooh. Yeah.
But yeah.
And soon you see
the first glimpse
of Stonewall.
Probably about
close to 19,
20 feet tall.
It's... You can see what this creature once was this large tyrannosaurus
rex it's kind of reptile with powerful head um jaws and a long tail but now like it's uh almost
like an armadillo like covered in these armored plates this thick uh carapace-like almost hide covering almost its entire body um its tail is spiked with these huge
kind of like barbed razor sharp hooked ends um you see that its mouth uh it has two rows of teeth
inside of its jaws that almost seem to like move almost like a serrated movement kind of motion um and it's giant kind of way bigger
than it should be huge mouth its eyes predatorily scan around and you can see it has these large
like almost like dragon horns like covering its entire light head going all the way down its spine
and something which perhaps you were not expecting there is The whole creature has this kind of reddish, orange, brownish kind of hue to it
and on its back, almost shaped like mountains,
are these kind of cavernous, chitinous or bone-like protrusions
that almost are hollow like funnels
and you can see a glowing color of almost lava or magma
and smoke billowing out from like these things on its back.
Got bloody volcanoes on his back.
Like normal.
Camel-rupt.
I am deeply sorry.
I did not paint this in time.
And it does not look anywhere as good as I wanted
because I've not painted it at all. Which is
my fault because I've not been keeping
on top of things. Give us the boy.
Oh!
It's actually got like the volcano.
And four arms. How? Is this
like a custom? Yes, I bought it online.
Holy shit. That's why I'm
sad I didn't properly paint it up. It looks
awesome. It's really cool looking
Well
If this fight continues
To next week
It might get painted
For next week
But we'll see
So how much of a surface
Is on its back?
Enough like
You can kind of see there
Like a creature
Can stand on it
Like you know
A creature could get up
On top of it
And stand on it
Minis are obviously
Not perfectly to scale
Its head is actually
A lot bigger than that
You know But that um you know but
that gives you a rough idea of kind of what it looks like i think we should go home just do you
know what let's go the volcano wait why have you placed him there well because as the creature moves
into the clearing laid out in the middle of the clearing like i I said, directly next to Lucius and Quill. That's why we all questioned it.
This must be a great war here, Quill.
Yeah, but who's this with us?
Oh, it's a pile of food.
Oh, I thought that was yours.
Well, it's kind of like maybe ever so slightly behind you,
but yeah, you are right next to the bait.
And this creature comes in and you can see...
I mean, you are going to get a sort of ambush on this thing,
but not a surprise round
this thing is strangely suspicious and it's looking because quill you would have the way
finders guide on you yeah i do now yeah everyone has it yeah right yep century you have starbreaker
you have howling tempest not so much you anymore, unfortunately, Nova.
Wow, that's a good thing.
And Lucius, I mean, you've got your armor.
You don't really have any major magic items, do you?
Oh, you've got your chain mail.
I've got the Stormcrawler's chain.
So you can see that it's looking sort of in all of... Like, it knows that something's there.
Like, it can smell something, but it can't see it.
And it's like looking down towards
where quill and lucius are and it's like looking at the food and it maybe like just picks up like
one piece of the food kind of brings it like with it it leans down it's like when someone hides
amongst plushies my head is like right next to the apple he picks up and they kind of like it
like picks up this giant like deer carcass and in just one gulp
just like breaks its neck
like just eats half it
just chops it in half
and you see those
two rows of teeth
in its mouth
it's almost like
grinding the thing away
it's like a serrated
like a chainsaw blade
like
and you just
you don't
I mean
I'm gonna roll
oh
okay
it lets out
this humongous
terrifying
thunderous roar
and it just looks
straight down
at Koala Lucius
and that's gonna be
initiative
rolled that would be a 31 on its perception check yeah and it just looks straight down at Coil of Lucius. And that's going to be initiative.
That would be a 31 on its perception check.
Yeah, that's pretty good.
I would technically have a stealth check against that.
It's, you know.
No, no, no.
I factored that in. I gave you the benefits.
Rather than relying on your crappy stealth,
I was like, I'll give you the Wild Elves stealth check.
So what I'd like to do is, just before you tell me,
because I want to try and do this in order
so it's a bit easier for me to remember whose initiative
is what. So who got,
say, above a 20 initiative?
Just Ayla?
You got 21.
Let me roll for the beast.
So 21, Ayla's going to be at the top.
Who got the next high? Who got like 18, 19?
I got 17.
17? 19 for Sentry.
You were 21, weren't you, Ayla?
Yeah.
And then 17 for Quill, is that next high? So we got higher than 17?
Yeah.
Novel? Lucius?
No, 17, 17, 17, so Quill at 17.
Nova at 16.
I got a four.
Oh, fuck.
You got a four.
You get eaten.
So it goes Stone Moor is at 12.
The NPCs are going to all act on initiative 10.
And then Lucius at the bottom of the room. Oh no. With a four.
So, Ayla.
Hi. Hi.
You are the first to react.
You see Stonewall look down,
and you know it's right above Quill and Lucius,
and it literally looks like it's about to reach down
and bite down to one of these two.
Cool, cool, cool, cool.
I will bonus action rage plus.
Okay.
And then I-
Roar as loud as it.
Yeah, I roar exactly as loud as, no I don't.
I am going to...
Fine.
Can I...
I basically wanna get all up in its grill on its back.
I'm gonna try and get on its back.
I've got 45 feet, so I should be fine to get up.
Yeah, five, 10, 10, 20, 25.
I'm probably gonna skirt around its head a little bit
to try and get to its side.
Okay.
And I want to...
30, 35, 40.
I mean, if you wanna go up... Well, I was gonna... 30, 35, 40. I mean, if you want to go up...
Well, I was going to go the other side,
because then I don't need to push past as much and use as much.
Yeah, okay.
But it's still going to be probably about 35.
You've got about 10 feet of movement left.
So is this just like a...
Can I go up 10 feet?
Or...
Oh, you want to use the...
No, no, no.
Oh, you just want to climb? Yeah, no, no. No, just climb.
You just want to climb?
Yeah.
Yeah, so you can climb.
You don't have a climbing speed though, do you?
You just want to...
This is like physically climbing up its legs and stuff, right?
No, it's just climbing.
So it'll be half movement.
So you can get about five feet up.
So you start climbing up it like you're on its legs, but you get about like five feet
up basically.
Okay.
Because climbing is hard.
It's difficult terrain.
Trying to figure out if there's any other way that I can get up quicker.
Jump. Can I jump? Yeah. Okay. Because climbing is hard. It's difficult terrain. Trying to figure out if there's any other way that I can get up quicker.
Yum.
Can I jump?
Yeah.
I would say, by the way, like it's, so you can see on the mini, its head, you have to
be up on it to like actually affect its armor and stuff like that.
Its tail, you have to be on its body to be able to affect its tail.
All of its legs are armored as well.
So like technically you can attack its body whilst you're on the ground.
Oh, okay. But you can only attack attack its body whilst you're on the ground.
Oh, okay.
But you can only attack its body armor
when it's on the ground.
That's fine, I'll do that then.
Okay, nice.
I'll give it a couple of smacks.
That's a natural one.
That will miss regardless of its AC.
13 plus 15.
Total?
28. 28? 28.
28 will hit.
Why do I feel like that was close?
This is one of those encounters where like...
Big boy.
Yeah, I am going to be...
Don't just assume it hits because you roll high.
So, 16 bludgeoning damage plus one lightning.
All right, so I've got a lot to track in this fight
and it's a lot of different locations for stuff, so.
Right leg armor.
Body armor, you did 16 points of damage.
Yep, plus one lightning.
Right, the lightning damage
is applied slightly differently.
All right.
Okay.
Only the bludgeoning damage affects the armor.
The lightning damage is affecting the creature as a whole, by the way.
Okay.
The armor is only broken by those types of damage that I mentioned,
bludgeoning, force, and thunder.
But it's still affecting it somewhat.
It does affect it, yeah.
You see the lightning kind of ripple through the creature's body.
I will do...
Imagine it as having almost two different kinds of hit points.
It's arm hit points and it's main hit points.
I will do a...
Second attack.
No, I did one.
It missed.
Oh, okay.
That's right.
A blast.
Okay, and then I make a...
That's a fail.
Fail.
That's a good roll.
26 lightning damage.
I rolled lots of sixes there.
46, yeah.
26 points of lightning damage,
but the previous one is 27 lightning damage currently in total.
So you watch as Ada runs up,
and with the Howling Tempest,
bam!
With the first strike, you hit the armor.
You're surprised at how tough this thing is
Like even with all your strength
It doesn't crack it even a dent
So the second time you bring it back
And this time using your full momentum
You see this crack beginning to form
In the plating around its legs and armour
The lightning does kind of almost spread through its body
And it kind of like grunts
As if temporarily bothered by it almost.
Can I just say,
Lucius Sending Stone!
Alright, so Aayla
is Aayla's turn. Century.
At the end of Aayla's turn,
my apologies, we have a lot to deal with,
legendary action.
You watch as
the creature is going to turn its body
ever so slightly,
still keeping Lucius and Quill in front of it,
but now almost turning its body
so that Aayla is kind of underneath it.
And you see its tail raises up into the air.
And you can see it's almost like preparing
like a big smash that's going to come down.
Telegraphing attacks. It is telegraphing attacks. All right, a big smash that's going to come down. Telegraphing attacks.
It is telegraphing attacks.
All right, Sentry.
That's going to be bad.
Can I cast Enlarge?
Yes.
Get big time.
Big Sentry.
Big Sentry.
I'm going to use temporarily this to be big Sentry.
Oh, cool.
I'll take that.
Yeah, sure.
Yeah.
Can I move up to Stonewall? Yeah, so let's see. 5, 10, 15, 20, sure. Yep. Can I move up to stone more?
Yeah, so let's see. 5, 10, 15, 20, 25.
Can I reach its tail?
Yeah, I'd say with large size, yeah, absolutely you can.
Can I try and hold its tail back?
Okay, you want to try and grapple the tail, sure.
This is going to be, you need to roll to hit first, because you need to actually grab it.
So this is going to basically be an unarmed strike to hit.
Nice.
That's a 12.
Let me check that because I always worry that I get grappling rules wrong
because it's one of those funny things that I don't often use.
I'm pretty sure you have to make an opposed strength,
but I think you have to grab it first.
Let me just check because I'm just curious.
This is something that I want to check because I never do mainly because grabbing that tail the attack actually make a special
melee attack a grapple um oh no okay so you just seize the target by making an uh oh by uh yeah
making a grapple check instead of inside so it would be strength athletics, sorry. Strength athletics, okay. So feel free to re-roll it if you'd like.
Re-roll.
22.
22, and then I make an opposed strength athletics check.
So this is gonna be, oof, plus knots.
That's gonna be 32.
So you go to grab this thing's tail
and immediately you realize how strong this creature is.
I will tell you based on that roll,
this thing is stronger than Ayla.
So you try and grab its tail,
and you're like, and it just breaks.
We're doomed.
Just roars at you.
It's got more than 25, guys!
That's so wise, I think Quill.
So that's one of your attacks.
So a grapple replaces one of your attacks.
Ooh, so I can do, do I try again?
I'm gonna try again.
Okay.
20.
20 versus mine is gonna be...
23.
Oh, shit.
So, again, you try and grab that tail,
and it's kind of lashing in the air,
and it's kind of flicking back and forth,
almost ready to bring it down.
You try and grab it and hold it in place,
but it just manages to break free,
and you are unable to grapple it.
Goddamn.
All right.
I will... I've moved.
I've done that.
I think I'm good.
Okay.
I'm just going to stay there and come what may.
I would say as part of the grappling, if you like,
you could almost try and position yourself
so that you're in like the brunt,
going to bear the brunt of that attack if you want.
Oh yeah, I'll do that, yeah.
It's fine.
You don't have to like...
You would kind of shift around.
Oh, is he going to slam backwards?
Yes, it looks like he's going to slam it down behind him.
I don't know why it was Scorpion Tail forwards.
That's weird.
It's weird.
That is weird, you're right.
So let me just mark a couple of things.
So that is one of the type.
Quill.
I want to get away from it.
Okay, you are currently within melee threat range.
Yeah, but if I use Shocking Grasp, it removes its reactions.
If you hit.
If I hit.
So, yeah, I'm going to try Shocking Grasp on it.
Okay, for a turn or for, like, a round?
Well.
Its reactions.
Is it just for your turn?
It cannot make reactions until the start of its next turn.
Good lord.
It has got lame.
It goes before you as well. Yeah. until the start of its next turn. Good lord. It has got lame.
Shame it goes before you as well.
Yeah.
And yeah, it could also just resist this.
Plus 10.
18.
Probably won't get through the armour.
Even if it's lightning. Reach out.
Just seems the armour almost, you know,
absorbs it, ablates the attack.
Has no effect.
Okay.
I'm going to bonus action.
Shield of Faith.
Your AC is in, like, piss, isn't it?
How dare you?
Yeah.
It's like, what, 13?
Yes, it is piss.
It's 15, actually, with my chain on.
Oh, same as me.
Well, I'm going to...
Shield of Faith myself, because I'm closest to it.
And also probably more delicious looking.
I mean, you certainly are delicious.
Yeah.
End of turn?
Yep.
An appetizer.
A little Jimkin mug.
Nova.
I'd like to cast Hexblade Curse on it.
Okay.
And then I'm going to Eldritch Blast it from my little tree.
Okay.
Which section would you like to Eldritch Blast?
If you're trying, which section of its armor?
So, Sentry's having the tail, right?
Sentry's tried to grab the tail, but no effect.
Yeah.
So, it's head, body, tail.
Aayla has currently struck the body.
Body.
All right.
Body, oddy, oddy.
Good to know.
So, Eldritch Blast.
First one is...
Oh!
I just hit a 19, which is a oh yeah i've got you yeah yep so
and i also rolled and it's plus 11 because of the extra damage from a hex blade
so 20 points of damage and then is that with the crit effect as well no because i can never
remember so it's just it's just a it's a d? So 1d10. So it'd be a plus 10.
You've already rolled the damage, right?
Yeah, so the damage I've rolled...
Yep, you rolled the damage already, so it was...
It was 20 plus 10 is 30 points of damage on the first beam.
Yep, first beam.
Ayla, as you're kind of striking, this beam just kind of cuts across,
and where you'd already struck it, you see that crack widen dramatically
as you see one
of nova's eldritch blasts yes no that i'm like baby i'm a little three three is not enough
uh 14 plus 11 is 25. No, it's not.
I'm afraid that the Eldritch Blast, the armor is so thick.
Ow.
Natural 20.
Oh!
I did it.
So what's the damage on that?
Oh my god.
So 11, what's 11 plus seven is?
18. 18.
Plus 10, 28.
Yeah, 28.
Amazing. That's plus 10, 28. Yeah, 28. Amazing.
That's four beams.
Was that four?
Yeah, that was four.
That was four, I failed to hit.
Yep.
So yeah, the second one, the first one,
you see that the first one strikes,
it kind of cuts across that crack you'd already made.
The second one goes just too wide.
The next one glances off the armor, thick as it is.
And then the second one, almost with pinpoint precision,
strikes that widening gap that you can see forming along its leg plate, basically.
Like, breaking.
But still not broken.
That armor is still intact.
I mean, still.
Anything else, Nova, on your turn.
That mean?
Where is...
Sorry, can you remind me of which the NPCs are?
Which one is behind me?
This is, Sana is currently behind you.
Morgaine, and then we have Rethra and Varnia.
Okay, and it was bonus actions to direct them, right?
No, I mean, it depends what you want them to do.
If like the actual actions to use their powers,
it's normally part of an attack action
or part of doing something else, like Rethra's is movement, most of the, it's normally part of an attack action or part of doing something else.
Like Rethra's movement,
most of the others,
it's part of an attack action, right?
I'd probably show you Rethra.
The,
the,
getting them just,
if you want them to move,
like if you're like,
You can move them, yeah.
You know, if you want them to go in a specific place,
you just tell them where you want them to go.
Otherwise, on their turn,
I'm just going to move them
how they would naturally react.
Right?
Yeah.
I'd probably advise them
to spread out, maybe.
Okay, you can direct
like a command
to one of them at a time.
Or maybe I'd say to Rathra
to go and help Quill and Lucius.
Okay.
Get them out.
All right.
Get them out away from the thing.
On the NPC's turn,
remind me,
and I will do that for Rathra.
At the end of the third turn after using its legendary action,
the tail comes.
Oh, that's cool.
I like that.
Yeah.
So I require Aayla, Sentry, and Buh-Buh-Buh.
In fact, actually, no, this is a tail attack against each of you.
I will give disadvantage to everyone else because Sentry, you are in the way,
so you don't have to worry about using your reaction.
This is just because of you being in the way.
Cool.
This is going to be a tail attack against Ayla with disadvantage.
That is a 21.
Mm-hmm.
Against Sentry with just normal no disadvantage, that would be a 34.
Yes.
And against Sana, this is going to be a...
Oh, Sana's in range.
Shit.
Da-da-da-da-da.
That's going to be a 25 to hit.
So all three of you are going to be hit.
Four.
22 points of bludgeoning damage,
and I need you to make strength saving throws.
Sana automatically fails this and is not with Ryan.
How much?
22 bludgeoning. So 11. How much are you, 22 bloods in.
So 11.
So 11 for you, because you are Raging.
Raging.
And then strength saving throws, please.
11.
You get a plus three for me, Ava.
I rolled a 19 plus 13 plus three.
So total?
I can't, man.
35. 35.
You succeed.
Sentry, you are knocked prone along with Santa.
But Ayla, you stand resolute and firm.
As the thing comes slamming down,
it also creates a shockwave behind it as it slams down.
Oh my God.
Any creatures within a 30-foot cone behind him would also
be affected. That's not going to affect any of you guys. However, a chunk of your hunting
party do kind of, you hear like, ah, so they're kind of blown out of trees and like slammed
to the ground.
Oh.
Where are we?
Oh.
And you plus eight.
But you think only one of them was killed by that attack.
So it does do damage to the shockwave.
Yeah, it does.
That's three, right?
Then it is Stonewall's turn himself.
That was just the end of the reaction.
So on Stonewall's turn,
the first thing they're going to do is they're going to try and bite Quill.
Yeah.
I'll give him a nat 20 on that.
Yeah?
Well, luckily for you, though,
I rolled a natural one.
Ooh!
Well, I mean...
Because I'm pretty sure
that if I rolled a two,
I would have hit.
What do you mean?
What's the actual hit there?
One is always a fail.
One is always a fail
on an attack roll.
Okay.
Remember, crits and...
It's the only time
that a natural one
and a natural 20
are guaranteed.
Well, I've got a plus 15.
I will tell you this.
If your AC is 17, if I roll a two, I hit you.
Let the nat one be a nat one.
No, I'm happy with it.
I was just wondering if it would still hit.
So that's its bite attack.
Can't use that against you.
It's tried to use that against you.
With its tail, it's going to try and whack Ayla for a 35.
Fuck.
Hey, look.
Like I said, you're not in in around town anymore uh that's gonna be
what we're gonna find out about 24 points of blood 12 points of bludgeoning damage and i need you to
make another strength saving throw i also forgot by the way you and santa were pushed back ever so
soon oh my god how is that so trash i rolled two twos, so 18.
You are pushed 15 feet back and knocked prey.
Oh, that's annoying.
The tail slams into you,
and then I'm gonna use one of its two recharge abilities.
I'm gonna use Erupting Doom.
You see the volcano-like protrusions on its back
You see the volcano-like protrusions on its back as four giant kind of balls of flame and smoke
launch high, high into the air.
It's kind of gross, if you think about it.
Is this also like a telegraphed thing?
You can see the areas on the ground where they're going to land.
You know me too!
Baby! I love that shit. Oh, it's aiming for hate you it's on your head it's on your head understandable
understandable have a nice day one on rest oh literally oh yeah it's hitting everyone except
nova tree baby that tree's coming down yeah you watch as these things go very very high up into the air
so much so that in six seconds you begin to see the shadows quickly quickly growing um all right
that's it's erupting doom um it gets uh does that gets that stuff back uh npcs go um i asked I asked Rethra to get them out. Is that Rethra?
Yep.
15, 20, 25, 30.
Yep, he gets just within range so that his chain can reach the others.
Varnir is going to rush out the range of this thing.
Makes sense.
Vain's going to do the same thing.
5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30. Vain's going to do the same thing.
30. They only get one movement. Sanir's going to stand up and then spend half of the movement, which is 20 feet.
To get over here.
Okay, so now just me and Lucius, Sentry and Ayla.
The NPCs are going to...
None of them are in melee range,
so only Vanya gets to do his points of damage,
and he just chips away at the beast's general HP.
He just does a small amount of damage per base one.
Cool.
Right, that was NPCs.
We then come to Lucius.
Lucius is going to... He is not in melee range, right?
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
This thing's got a reach of 15 feet.
This thing can chomp down on you easy.
Bullshit.
It's a T-Rex, dude.
I'm gonna cast Slow on it.
Okay.
So that's a wisdom saving throw of 19 to beat.
Okay.
Wisdom saving throw?
Yeah.
19 to beat.
Okay.
Wisdom saving throw?
Yeah.
I believe that is going to be of 19.
20 just beats it.
Stronger than Aayla, wiser than Quill,
smarter than Nova, tougher than Century.
This thing does have a... More fabulous than Lucius.
Like a primal cunningness to it.
Its wisdom isn't that low.
It's got a pretty decent wisdom.
Like it kind of looks at you as you're weaving the spell
and then it just seems to steal its gaze
as if it's anticipating something to affect its mind.
What the hell?
I mean, I did only just beat it.
I rolled a nine and I just managed to beat it.
So that was your action.
I'm going to...
I can't really disengage, but can I ask Rethra to move me?
Yes, you can.
You could.
Would you like to use Rethra's ability?
Just you.
Just one of you.
Sorry.
Go for it.
Yeah, I'm going to ask Rethra to move me.
All right, you can pick a point within 60 feet of Rethra,
and they will move you to it.
That's a lot.
I'm going to go behind that rock.
Okay.
So Rethra is basically like, yes, Lucius!
And you see him kind of like unlink his chain action.
Wait, what are you doing?
He spins it.
He like wraps you around with a chain.
And then he...
And he throws you
at your fuck
and he
he yells
when he does so
blazing chain swing
yes
and he throws you over
you do for yourself
invigorated
you gain 20 temporary
hit points
when you
in like
magical fire
you kind of like
Rethra sends down
the chain
like this magical fire
that seems to surround you
like a protective shield.
Cool.
And those last until they go away.
Amazing.
However, I need you to roll a d6 for me as a d3.
So 1, 2 is 1, 3, 4 is 2, 5, 6 is 3.
A d3.
I got a 3, 3, 4.
So 2.
2.
So Rethra's ability is now recharging for three rounds.
For three rounds.
Okay.
That's not going to be available for another three combat turns.
All right.
All right.
Cool.
Bonus action.
Yes.
I'm flying through the air.
Ascending stone.
Yep.
We've begun the fight.
I'm just, like, tapping both runes.
You can contact one and they will contact the other one.
So, if you contact Danica, Danica will tell Aaron that you've launched the attack.
And you basically get about like, we'll begin to engage.
They're currently in range.
They're just going to start their combat now.
So they're basically starting a round behind you guys.
All right.
All right, effectively.
That brings us back right up to the top with Ayla.
Hi.
That brings us back right up to the top with Ayla.
Hi.
Can I stand up, please,
and use my 20 feet of half movement to get up at his side?
Yeah.
Actually.
Side, yeah?
Where would you like to go?
Can I use charge on the Hamel to fly onto its back?
Yes, absolutely you can.
And I would like to hit him, please.
Yeah, I mean, these things are still pluming smoke,
but they've cooled down since that attack.
But yeah, you can bring the hammer down.
Head, body, or tail?
Body.
All right, go for it.
I wanna plug up those holes.
Well, plug up the, oh, I don't have any.
You could've rocked it.
Go for it.
Okay.
Explodes.
Natural 20, no joke, natural 20.
Holy shit.
Oh, so you get the bonus.
Oh, so let's work out your normal damage,
because we got all the Brutical Critical stuff.
This is a lot.
Brutical Critical.
We're gonna be here for a while.
Every time it's Brutical Critical.
I love it.
So it's 4d10 base.
40 base.
4d10 plus 13.
Right, so 53 base.
Right, so now roll 4d10.
So let's just do that bit.
And you get a separate sheet of paper.
Oh god!
This is like when Senna crits, I have to do that.
That's basically a fresh area.
Huh? This is fresh.
Arm has been previously damaged here.
On the back? No, this is on the body.
The body is like the arm, it's not like leg, body, arm, there's too many locations.
82.
82 total so far.
That's now the normal lightning damage that the hammer does.
It's a D6.
So six plus. Six plus, yeah.
Four.
So 10 points of lightning damage,
because I've got to separate the bludgeoning
and the lightning damage out as well.
Okay.
And then that's everything that you would normally get, right?
Yes.
Now I would like you to roll 4d12 lightning damage.
Because this is the enchantment that Azaria's done
that when the Howling Templar scores a critical hit,
it will do 4d12 lightning damage.
Okay.
10.
10.
11.
11.
Is that enough?
19.
19.
24. Another 24 lightning damage.
Nice.
An extra 4d12.
Wait, is that not max from the crit?
No, because that's bonus to your crit.
Oh, because of the crit, yeah.
I've got a lot to do.
Yeah, otherwise it would always be 4d12.
Give me a hot minute.
So, because I have to calculate what's left of the armor,
take that off the damage you just done,
now deal the damage to the creature,
and then so on and so forth.
So, this is going to be,
you destroy Stonewater's body carapace.
You watch as the armor breaks.
You watch as Aayla brings this hammer down on the back,
and the Howling Tempest almost seems to absorb the lightning from Aayla's own body, and it bursts into
this storm cloud.
And you just watch as all the armor around its body, not that around its head or tail,
but around its arms, its legs, on its back, just cracks and breaks away.
And it causes Stonewall to almost stumble, and it seems dazed or staggered in some way.
As you do so, so that destroys the rest of its armor
on its body for now.
And then you would deal a total of 56 points of damage
to its regular body.
Oh God, it's done quite a lot in its shielding.
And then also 34 points of
lightning damage in total um that's gonna be straight number four okay that's one that's one
that's one i mean but you now see stone more kind of stumbling and dazed i will tell you now
when you destroy a piece of its armor until the start of Stonewall's next turn,
its AC is reduced and it has the dazed condition.
Until the start of its turn?
Until the start of its next turn.
Okay.
It is currently now dazed.
Dazed means it can only make one attack on its turn
and it cannot take reactions.
That's basically what my slow spell is going to do.
Yep.
Oh, no reactions.
Okay, so I'm going to just shout to everyone,
get it now, the body!
Would you like to use any of your ally abilities?
Can I use Sana's?
Instead of your second attack.
You can.
I'll use Sana's.
All right, you would like to use Sana's attack.
Because she's close.
So she is close enough to you, and I will tell you now.
So what this is, is you being on the back is almost perfect,
because Santa sees you and she's like, I need a boost!
And she runs, runs up its leg, and then reaches out her hand
for you to throw her up in the air.
I need you to make an athletics check for me.
Oh, with advantage?
With advantage, you're raging, absolutely.
And you can't get lower than a whatever it is.
17 plus 13.
17 plus 13. 17 plus 13.
You kind of like bring down,
you throw Santa up into the air far,
like you're talking like 20, 25 feet up into the air.
Team Locker's bottle.
Well, as she reaches the crest of it,
you can see that she's been spinning
and almost building momentum.
And one of her armored legs
with the armored plating along her feet
that she uses to kick,
she brings up and she just cries out,
Lunar Axe kick!
And comes smashing down as the axe slams into the body,
dealing 60 points of damage to the body as it slams down.
Okay.
And then Santa kind of like lands,
but you can see like she's worn out by that.
I need you to roll a D6 to see how long that's going to take to recharge.
I will say it does not normally do that amount of damage. It is because the armor was broken. Yeah. It deals extra damage. but you can see she's worn out by that. I need you to roll a d6 to see how long that's gonna take to recharge.
I will say it does not normally do that amount of damage.
It is because the armor was broken.
It dealt extra damage.
I rolled a two, so.
Two rounds, that's out for.
Oh wait, no.
No, I said one.
I rolled a two, so that's one, two, so that's one.
Oh, that's one, and it's plus one.
It's 1d3 plus one turns, yeah.
So it's two rounds for Sam's ability.
Can I do my bonus action?
You absolutely can do your bonus action.
Very cool.
21 lightning damage.
21 more points of lightning damage.
Turn over!
Sentry progress!
Progress!
Yeah, and you see the creature stumbling around,
heavily dazed and distracted.
Is that the end of your turn, Ayla?
Yeah.
It does still get its legendary reactions, however.
And at the start and the end of Ayla's turn,
it is gonna turn its head towards Nova Veeja in the tree,
and it begins kicking its feet, lowering its head down.
We then go to Sentry.
Sentry's gonna stand up.
And it's half your move.
And I'm gonna move up to old Stone Moor
and call for Starbreaker!
Yeah.
When you got big,
Yeah.
did the eyepiece just explode?
If women increases in size with it.
Yeah.
Oh, good.
Is she out of range of that?
I move out of range of the fireball.
As far as you guys know, I've had to use these, which are a bit bigger.
It's about a five-foot spot that I pick on the ground.
You can see a shadow is growing.
You're not going to be sure how big it is until it actually hits. Or how big the explosion is.
Exactly.
Okay, I'll take it.
But also, Century's movement, she only had 15 feet of movement hits. Or how big the explosion is. Exactly. Okay, I'll take it. But also, Sentry's movement,
she only had 15 feet of movement anyway.
Yeah, she can move.
All right, so Starbreaker,
you reach up,
you see the giant lance kind of extend,
expanding,
almost doubling in size itself
on top of the already enlarged Sentry.
The green spiral of energy burning around it.
Starbreaker!
I'm going to plunge it into the body.
All right, go.
Give me an attack roll.
Its AC is currently reduced.
Nine plus 13.
22.
22 will still just hit.
Oh, okay.
Cool beans.
All right.
So the AC gets dipped hard.
That's good.
Good shit.
Three, right?
Or four?
Someone's next.
25.
Let's go.
25 didn't hit.
25 didn't before, yeah.
Let's go level... I'll do level two for go. I can't remember. 25 didn't hit. 25 didn't before, yeah.
Let's go level...
I'll do level two for now.
I don't want to...
I hit with a 28, but we still don't know what the...
Four. All right.
Plus a D4, because I'm stinky.
Stink roll. All right.
Nice. Max stink.
11, 5.
Now, I do need you, Rhi,
I just need you to do the piercing damage separately to the radiant damage for me.
It's force damage when Starbreaker is being...
It's all force damage.
And then your radiant damage.
Yeah.
Okay.
Still need...
I need both of those separately still.
Radiant damage and force damage separately.
Starbreaker damage is 21 plus the 7...
28 for Starbreaker.
28 points of damage.
And then 10, 11, 15, 23 radian damage.
23 points of radian damage, okay, great.
Okay, yeah, the Starbreaker kind of
digs into its fleshy hind.
You can see that even under that armor plating,
this thing's hide, its body, so thick and tense with muscle.
The Starbreaker is struggling to pierce through.
It doesn't catch it, but it kind of twists its body with it,
almost absorbing some of the blow.
I will do the same again.
23.
That will hit.
Nice.
Same again.
Oh, that's not great.
Six. 13 star breaker damage 13 and then level two divine smite again okay nine ten eleven twelve thirteen eighteen twenty two divine slight damage. 22. That brings to that amount of radiant damage.
So both strikes, bam, bam,
slamming into the side of the creature.
It staggers.
It kind of seems to stumble for a moment,
but it's still currently active.
All right.
I'll stay where I am for now.
Next turn, I'll check the H of vitality.
Okay.
So next turn, you're going to do that, right?
Yep.
So that's the end of that turn there.
Quill?
Where I am right now, underneath this thing,
I think I'm trying to figure out if Nova isn't within 30 feet of me.
No.
Let me tell you.
I don't think so.
No.
I could just go north a little bit and then she probably would be right.
I could just go north a little bit and then she probably would be right. 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55.
Nova is currently 55 feet away from you.
Okay, so I have to go...
I've got 25 feet of flying and it's not taking reactions right now,
so I'm going to use 25 feet of movement to get within 30 feet of Nova.
Okay.
Go with Bacon of Hope. Bacon of Nova. Okay. Go with Bacon of Hope.
Bacon of Hope.
So, again, everyone gets max healing
and advantage on Wiz saves, which we're probably not going to need.
Is that just the people within you now?
Within 30 feet of me now is Lucius.
Oh, Lucius is... Oh, God, I forgot Lucius was that side.
30. Sentry is also just technically out as well.
You catch everybody but Lucius and Sentry.
If you moved over like five feet, you might get Sentry.
Oh yeah.
Whatever movement it would be to catch as many people as I can.
That would keep you within.
You'd catch Sentry.
If you move over five feet, you will still be within.
I'm going to continue my movement afterwards.
Use the rest of my movement in a bit.
But yeah.
So just not Lucius?
Not Lucius.
Too far away.
Okay.
Got bacon on everyone.
A lot about Lucius.
And then I want to use the rest of my movement
to get away from this thing and fly if possible, I suppose.
Well, I am flying because of my 50 feet of movement.
So you moved like like, 25.
Where would you like to go?
Not near Nova.
Really?
Yeah.
I'm in a tree.
Wonderful, thank you.
I'm just going to go for a little ride.
Yeah.
I can't think of a way to actually get Nova away from that charge attack,
which is probably going to happen very soon.
This is Nova you're talking about.
I think at the end of my turn it's going to dash.
Maybe.
It's got Legendaries still.
Well, you don't know how this thing works.
And as a...
It's got volcanoes on its back. Who knows?
As a bonus action, I will summon Elder Quill
for use whenever I'll need to use it. All right.
And that's my entire turn.
That's your turn.
Nova Vija.
I would like to Misty Step onto the back of the thing.
Oh, actually, before I do,
can I shout at Varnir to help me attack?
Okay, yep.
I want to do a combo attack.
Okay, yep.
So the Misty Step you can just do.
So as long as you're in 30 feet.
5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30.
You're currently five feet out of a Misty Step.
No, it's Fanyu.
So I will give you a choice.
You can jump out of the tree.
Is that why you're making hair products?
I will jump out of the tree in Misty Step.
All right.
You are going to take some damage.
You're going to hit the ground before you Misty Step.
Oh, no.
Five points of bludgeon some damage. You're going to hit the ground before you Misty Step. Five points of bludgeoning damage.
As you jump and then Misty Step to join
Ayla on top of this thing.
And you see the creature
looking like
it seems to know where you are.
It was kind of preparing its charge
and it seems to know where you are and it seems frustrated.
Just for
podcast listeners and anyone who can't see Mark's feet right now under the table,
he is like, scuffing his feet.
I'm not a method actor!
No, it's great. It's just that they can't see it,
but I want you to know that he's putting the effort in to show that he's going to charge.
Mark is actually wearing a T-Rex head right now at the table.
Absolutely.
Oh, I should have done that for Wanzi next session.
So, teleport onto the back of it. So for your first attack,
your first attack is basically replaced by you basically targeting this attack from Varnia, right?
So what that means is you currently have 29 of your hunting party still alive, including Varnia.
So this thing has to make a DC 29 dexterity saving throw.
Okay.
Cool. It fails.
Okay.
And now it deals 10 plus the number of surviving heart damage.
Oh, so it was good to do that one early.
So it does 39 points of damage to this thing.
What's it doing?
You have to roll a D6, is it?
So is that all of them just shooting the crap out of it?
So that is like everybody around, like Varnir is like,
Unlovers, come on, fire, fire at this point.
And then you're using like,
you kind of like here and like,
you're kind of like directing
and you're also like keeping this thing distracted.
It's like spinning,
trying to get you as it's being pummeled
by all these arrows into its body.
And it's kind of turning around,
like snarling at you.
But then from all across the field
are all these different attacks.
Unleash the fury of the forest!
That's your first attack,
that replaces your action for that attack.
So you get a second, if you have a second attack
and a third attack, you can make those as normal.
Oh, nice.
So I still get my second and third attack?
You absolutely do.
In which case, I'm gonna hit cut with the-
I'm gonna hit cut.
Well, I presume slashing is now okay,
now that the plating's gone.
Plating's currently gone.
Okay, so that is,
ooh, 15 to hit.
15 is not enough, even against,
even without the plating, this thick hide.
23 to hit.
23 will hit.
And so it is plus 13 with my Hexblade.
Yeah, 19 points of damage.
19 points of normal damage, right? Slashing.
Slashing damage.
Okay.
I would like to action surge.
Yes.
Okay.
So you get three more attacks if you'd like to make the attack action.
Natural 20.
Oh, my God.
He overdoesn't die.
So that is...
No, don't worry about that.
Okay.
1d8 plus...
No, I'm like, what's the percentage?
Would that have the plus 13 damage for the crit?
I mean, it's a crit.
So 13...
Hexblade Curse triggers on a 19 or a 20, right?
Like the extra damage.
So the Eldritch Blast should have had plus fives as well.
But didn't you say that you added that?
You said with the extra damage from Hexblade Curse.
It doesn't matter.
It doesn't matter.
So one...
What the fuck am I doing?
One DA plus 13.
Yeah.
So 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21.
So that's the crit damage.
And then plus another 8 for the crit.
Plus another.
You need to roll 1d8.
Oh, yeah.
Sorry.
No, she's already rolled 1d8.
You've rolled 1d8.
It's a 4 on this.
Oh, right.
Hang on.
Hold on.
Hold on.
Hold on.
Okay.
So it's 4 plus 13.
So the crit is 1d8.
So 8.
Yeah. 8, plus 13.
Yep.
Which is...
Yeah.
So 21.
And then you roll the 4.
And then you roll the 4 is 4 plus 13.
No, no, no, you don't add the 13 again.
Oh, yeah, that's 4.
All right, so it goes to 25.
2, 4.
Okay.
So you strike, cut.
Definitely the first one
kind of glanced off of that second one,
cuts maybe like a vital part on its back,
like maybe it digs into a fleshy vein
or something like that and spray of blood.
Fleshy vein.
Fleshy vein.
Crit.
17 plus 13 to hit.
Will hit.
For 17 points of damage. 17 more points of damage. Will hit. Four.
17 points of damage.
17 more points of damage.
I'm running out of space to make notes.
13 plus 8.
21.
Is that right?
Well, that would be your fourth attack.
Action Surge. Action Surge. This is my third attack of the Action Surge. All right. I thought't think. Well, that would be your fourth attack. No, that's action surge.
Action surge.
Yeah.
This is my third attack of the action surge.
Of the action surge.
All right.
I thought you made two.
Okay.
So, yeah, I think that hits.
What did you say?
21.
21 will just hit.
Okay.
13 plus six is a 19.
Another 19 points.
I'm out of turns.
So that's my bonus action.
Yeah.
And then I did find you.
Action surge.
Yeah. I'm done of turns. So that's my bonus action, yeah. I did find you, action turrets.
Yep, I'm done.
Alright, so Nova jumps on its back and then surging, almost a flurry of these strikes,
you watch as blood begins spraying everywhere and the creature is like
still fully in fighting condition as you finish your turn.
Is that your end of turn, Nova?
Yes.
Alright. Technically, its charge still happens, it just no longer has an immediate target. as you finish your turn. Is that your end of turn Nova? Yes. All right.
Technically, its charge still happens.
It just no longer has an immediate target.
I ain't there.
Ah, tickle.
And it slams into the side here.
Does it get hit by its own fire thing?
We'll find out, won't we?
At the beginning of its turn,
a number of things happen.
Oh no.
A number of things will happen.
It splits into eight.
We'll do these in order.
The first thing is erupting doom.
Any creature within a 10-foot radius of one of the points must make a dexterity saving throw.
So that is going to be 10.
I'm going to say Nova and Aayla on top of the creature's back.
Quill.
The explosion is on the ground though, right?
And we're 15-4.
Yes, I would say you are fine.
I would say you guys are fine.
Sentry and Santa.
Yeah, you guys are going to be hit by this.
Sentry and Santa.
Nobody else I think is hit by this.
Nice.
Dexterity saving through.
Century. I got a 17.
17 is a failure, I'm afraid.
So,
basically,
a meteor land.
Well, not on.
What killed the dinosaurs?
The Ice Age.
Now the dinosaurs fight back. Does it?
Actually, it would be immune to it because it's fire. The Ice Age. Now the dinosaurs fight back. Chicksalob.
Actually, it would be immune to it because it's fire.
He doesn't get that.
And bludgeoning.
It doesn't give a shit about its own attacks.
It doesn't give a shit.
But it gets hit by bludgeoning.
Yeah, it doesn't matter.
It's a monster's own attacks.
It doesn't affect it.
It's a fire meteor.
Yeah, it's a fire meteor.
It doesn't affect it.
Sorry, bullshit.
But that's the way it goes.
18 points of bludgeoning damage,
followed by 27 points of fire damage.
That sucks.
The area that you are in,
you and Sen are in basically like a 10-foot radius around here,
becomes difficult terrain and is on fire.
That applies to everybody, basically. Like a fire. Oh, is that like that?
That applies to everybody, basically.
Like a crater?
Yeah, in fact, actually, yeah.
Yeah, if you put them back where they were.
Yeah, one near me, one behind.
Yeah.
I don't like about there.
The whole area, and those are technically,
it would be like a five-foot radius around what I've just placed down next.
It's a 10-foot radius.
It becomes difficult terrain and is on burning,
like there's burning rubble.
It's kind of steaming, you know, with heat and flame
as it continues to burn away.
That is the end of its erupting doom.
The next thing that happens is its body armor grows back.
You watch as it...
And it does, Quill, as you suspected,
grow back thicker and stronger.
Fuck.
So the best person to break the armor then would be Lucius.
Yeah, because I could never hit the flesh.
Yeah, it would be difficult for you to.
Unless they find some other way to do something to prevent it,
like hold a turn and then do it just before you or something like that.
Or hold their action after Stone Maw's go, I want to hit it, like hold a turn and then do it just before you or something like that. Or might hold their action like as a, after stone moths go, I want to hit it and do damage.
Don't forget, you can hold actions and stuff like that as well.
Or like, for example, Lucius at the beginning of his turn could call in one of the dragons
and that might be enough to do something, break it or something.
Or Lucius could do something else.
If you have ways of maneuvering initiative.
Some people have a…
Ooh, how's it going?
But anyway, so its armor grows back, it grows thicker back where it was.
So the body is stronger.
Yes.
The mind is the same.
Basically now targeting the body, its armor is stronger.
Also when your attacks target the body,
its AC has gone up as well.
Oh, shit.
It was already...
You can meet enemies.
Yes.
So that happens at the beginning of its turn.
That happens at the thing.
It still days until the end of its turn,
so it only gets to make one attack this turn,
but then its days condition will end.
And for its one attack that it's going to make this turn but then it's day's condition will end uh and for it's one attack that it's
gonna make this turn it is going to uh basically try and get nova and ayla off of its back
um so i need you both to make dexterity saving throws please as it begins thrashing about
violently stomping its feet smashing itself into trees, whatever it can do. This counts as danger sense.
I'd say this counts as danger sense.
Are you joking?
What did you roll?
Another 20.
A natural 20.
What's the range on it?
30 feet?
30 feet, yeah.
Oh, no.
15, 20.
So if I've had to say, yeah, I'd say they both count.
So we get a plus three.
Yep, we get plus three.
I can't believe how many nat 20 three so three um i can't believe how
many i can't believe it either 22. 22. they're all twin over what was your every side 26 26.
nova manages to keep a hold but ayla you go thrown off girl um that was with the 22.
well i guess i probably because you said i had Sentry's Aura, right?
Yeah. Yeah.
In fact, I'm going to be a right asshole
and I'm going to throw you into this.
Wow.
Shinseng Laughlight throws you off.
When you enter the lava pool,
you take some immediate fire damage.
And all the magic items you have turn away.
It's 11 points of fire damage.
I'm not in the pool.
Oh.
Natural 20, boy.
Natural 20. For some reason. Natural 20, boy. Natural 20.
Yeah, for some reason.
You just really want me to hurt, don't you?
And then it makes a stomp attack against you
as part of throwing you off because you landed.
But I think that's going to miss.
That is a 20.
That hits.
My AC is 20.
Yours is 21.
Yeah.
Fuck's sake.
Hey, you're tough.
How many hit points you got?
One million. you got a million
that's 28. picked me up and deliberately put me in the fire that's what pissed me off 28 bludgeoning damage so 14 bludgeoning damage yeah i mean yeah this is not a this is not an
an you know an unintelligent beast um i've got a lot of things to do so i'm just checking i've got a lot of things to do, so I'm just checking I've got everything.
It's done its adaptable armor, it has done its move, its day's condition ends, we then
go to the NPCs.
NPCs are going to move themselves, Wether is going to engage it, Morgane is going to
engage it, Barney is going to back the fuck up. Congratulations.
Sanna is looking pretty hot at this point.
So I think Sanna is actually going to basically run around sentry and start
and she's going to dash over to Lucius
and just kind of take a moment to try and get her breath back.
Yeah.
That is the NPCs.
At the end of the turn, we've got two in combat and Vanya,
so it's going to take a little bit of damage off of its main body HP.
Do they do damage to the armor or the body itself? They just do damage to the creature.
I'm not trying to track their thing.
They're finding like...
But it's like small amounts of damage.
We're talking like about five damage.
They're like chipping away at like its weak points and joints and things like that.
If you want them to do something different,
you just need to tell them what you want them to do.
If you want them to try and attack the armor,
they'll try and attack the armor and stuff like that.
Because that's another way you could tell them,
go for the armor to try and break it, Lucius.
If you feel that you've weakened the armor enough,
you could use them to try and break the armor.
And they kind of have guaranteed damage, right?
They never miss with their attacks.
They just don't do very much damage.
I feel like their positioning in the initiative,
if it grows back on its turn and they go after it,
it might be more beneficial for us to tell them to get the armor.
It only grows back after it's been destroyed as well.
Like you basically chip away.
It doesn't regenerate every turn.
And then we go to Lucius.
I think that we are wrapping up near the end of the episode as well.
So Lucius.
Lucius poops himself.
Okay.
Now I'm going to emerge from the rock
with my eyes glowing multiple colors
and emanating prismatic energy.
Boo!
As I turn on my prismatic mastery.
Okay.
Which costs six sorcery points.
That's a lot of points.
But it's going to last for a whole minute.
And basically I get resistance to all damage types.
That's true.
For a minute. And also I get to fire my dichro man see every turn at my sources level
plus my charisma so I'm gonna make sure free bit of damage I'm gonna move closer
to it now okay so my 30 foot of movement as close as I can yeah yeah I'm good I
wouldn't actually go around there
that's me and then oh yeah that's my egg that's an action that's an action to activate
would you consider oh and here we go me quickening a spell with prismatic matic mastery it's not a spell it's an action well i'm going to cast a spell
Well, I'm going to cast a spell.
It's going to be a Chromatic Orb.
At what level?
I'm going to do it at level five to begin.
Let's not go crazy.
All right.
My next question, are you targeting the head, the body, or the tail?
I'm going to target the...
I'd say the tail.
Okay. Because that's closest
right now to our
two MCs
and I don't want to
blast Nova
okay
accidentally
so
that's nice
thank you
that's nice
and what damage type
are you doing
I'm going to do ice
okay
why did everyone look there
no that's good
that's good shit
14 plus 13
so 27.
27 will just hit.
The tail is still armoured, but not quite as armoured as his body now.
Oh, it's a separate AC.
So the tail strikes with cold energy.
Go ahead and roll cold damage.
Yeah, I'm rolling it on here because there's so many d8s.
It's 33 because of my adept ice points of 33 points of
cold damage the chromatic orb slams into the tail you see the this doesn't affect the armor by the
way because it's cold damage i'm doing it directly to its its internals it's like the freezing of its
internal body temperature so it kind of bypasses some of the armor but as i said it will build up
and it will potentially become resistant to it as it goes okay does my diagram reach from here or no um
what's the range on documentary 30 feet i think no fighting i'd say it's just out all right i'm
going to slam it to the back of morgane okay nice i'll mark off one of my boxes actually can i
I'll mark off one of our boxes.
Actually, can I... Can I mark...
What?
There's no line of sight for dichromancy.
I know.
I just wanted to use a line for the first time ever.
Can I slam my dichromancy of ice into the crater next to me
to try and...
Oh, that's a good idea.
It's a great idea.
I love that.
Absolutely.
Freeze it.
He's in love with that.
It's still difficult terrain,
which isn't a massive
thing to worry about but yeah it doesn't no longer cause us any any harm cool nice in fact actually
no it there's no difficult train either it just kind of like the bubbling pig it's a perfect
terrain yeah for walking um perfect anything else on your turn no i think that's plenty all right
before we go into the thing because unfortunately i think that's where we're gonna have to end it
but a couple of things before we go into the next round.
Lucius, you receive a call.
It is from Danica.
Lucius, we've engaged Stormwing.
They've engaged Surge Scale in the other team.
We are currently, the Vitoculus is reporting
that we've dealt about 10% of its vitality.
The other team will report, sorry, 20% of its vitality.
The other team have dealt about 10% of its vitality.
So Danica's team is currently at 80%.
The other team is currently at 90%.
Sure.
I can't respond right now.
No, but that's, well, you can respond for free.
You'll know our status in six seconds time.
Nice.
And that is where we're going to have to call
this episode
what are we calling it
I think we will
think of a good name
Kim will probably
think of a good name
Tom will think of a good name
entirely up to me
Blasty Blasty T-Rex
Blasty Blasty T-Rex
please don't call it that
no
what about
The Lost World
no
Chris Pat
just call it
Da Da Da
it doesn't move
do you know my favourite
damn
it's my other favourite
Jurassic Park voice
so it's
Mr Desk
damn
that's the name of the episode
clever girl
they can open doors
clever girl
yeah
or just
go with jello spoon
these are all visuals yeah sorry I need everyone to know Or just go with Jell-O spoon.
These are all visuals.
Yeah, sorry.
I need everyone to know that my mum's favourite part of that movie is when the guy gets eaten on the toilet.
Yeah, great.
You know what's really interesting?
In the books, that lawyer character, he's actually one of the good,
he's a really good guy and he's really nice and he helps everybody
and I think he survives a little longer,
but he's like a genuinely one of the rare good dudes in the book and they made him an asshole in the film
michael crichton must be pissed the book also has camouflaged t-rexes like they literally like
they can damn more book versus movie it might be lost world i think it's lost world yeah they
have camouflage is crazy and lost world i mean they do get like pretty fucking weird because
they they splice them with, I think,
frog or cuttlefish DNA, so they can
blend in. Cool.
Don't give them ideas. Random fact.
Anyway, hey, thanks for watching
so much. Take care.
See ya. Bye. you
