Would you like us to roll initiative, Mark?
I would, but I have a lot of NPCs
that I'm currently writing their names down for.
Let's roll initiative, guys.
Please do roll it.
You ruined it.
I was going to do a big thing out of it.
No, it doesn't count for anything.
I was trying to fill dead air.
I'll do it again.
Why are you going again?
Well, I just, you know,
if you want to do a big thing about it,
I'll re-roll initiative.
Well, let's crack on with the second half of this episode by rolling initiative.
Whoa!
Can I re-roll?
No.
Damn it.
So, Ayla.
16.
Quill.
11.
Nova.
16.
Who out of the two of you has the high dex bonus?
Yours is 18?
Yeah.
Plus three.
So, Ayla's higher.
Lucius. 18. Sentry. 21. has the high dex bonus yours is 18 yeah plus three so ayla's higher uh lucius 18 century 21
damn big rolls big prizes 15. you know what big rolls mean
big rolls mean prizes big rolls mean big prizes big brawls mean big points oh awful for the boys what I don't know I'm too jet lagged
for this
I'm fine
I'm drunk as coffee
and then
finally
the big boy
yeah
I'm jet lagged
he's got
whatever he's got
okay
and she's been working
since like
so
I've got no excuse
I'm good
I'm fine
the smaller guardian
will
having seen that you guys are approaching,
he's going to go 5, 10, 15, 20.
So he's just continuing his run.
He's going to basically...
It's like pointing as they run past.
He's going to dash.
So he basically uses his full movement to run across the thing.
And you can see him beginning to set up his arm bow.
So he kind of like crouches
he gets into the rocks and begins setting that up but that's his turn um bow sentry you're the
first one to go after the little the little guardian okay um can i shout at them um hi
is is this after you you guys uh the the humanoid size one with like the six eyes
just like looks at it,
and it's, like, chasing after them, roaring,
and you can see it's, like, with its claws kind of scratching,
and he's just like, yes!
Do you need help?
He's just like, in six seconds, he's probably just like,
and then that's probably enough time to get the conversation out.
They look like they were running from this thing.
And you're maybe like a couple of hours away from Callie's rest still.
Okay.
We could run too, guys.
We could run too.
Just saying.
Yeah.
So after Central, you just shout it out, actually.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I think I'm just going to ready an action.
Okay.
Would you like to move before you ready an action?
Or do you want to stay near the back?
I'm going to stay near the back.
Okay.
So what is the condition for your readying an action?
So normally it's like if it does this.
If the wyvern attacks us, I'm going to charge it.
Charge it, yeah.
And then attack.
Okay, cool.
So after sentry, it goes to Lucius, actually.
Oh, pith.
I'm going to work with Nightcloak here.
Blur me.
Okay, so you're going to use its cloak form to cast Blur.
Yes.
Okay.
So you watch as Lucius's form begins to move rapidly and it
becomes like a blur like an image you
can't quite focus on as his whole form
shifts and seems to where he exactly is
you're not quite sure would you like to
know anything else I will move yeah sure
away from the big wyvern.
Okay.
Okay. That way.
Sam's coming in to fix stuff.
No worries.
So Lucius, that's your turn.
So you move away.
You cast Blur on yourself.
Ayla.
Can't see for the trees.
I'm going to follow
this little...
Wait, no.
How far is he from me?
A little wide.
Uh-oh.
Uh-oh.
Is it a wagon?
How high up in the air
is the wagon?
How high is he?
I would say that right now
he's kind of...
Because he's just come
out of the woods.
He's about tree height, so he's about 15 out of the woods, he's about tree height,
so he's about 15 feet, 20 feet up in the air.
Yeah, and I can't reach that shit.
Boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop.
I'm going to go follow this guy.
Okay.
But I'm going to shout to these guys,
leave the wagon there.
Do not bring it closer right now.
Okay. Okay. Because then you're bringing children. Leave the wagon there Do not bring it closer right now Okay Arvel is the one
Currently guiding the wagon
Him and Valor are the ones on the wagon guiding it
So if you tell them to just stay where they are
They'll stay where they are
Valor stay back
So that's Aayla's go
And I will ready an action
If it's within my range and it is attacking attack it back
okay back Nova
Dungeons and Dragons I will wait no that was Nova you're a rage as a bonus if it
is my this is my thing remember that if you say with a with a ready to action
you pick one thing okay so can't rage and attack it
So you just attack, okay
So Nova
That was Nova reacting, that was not Ken
So you just, that's it, you're done
But I would also like to
Move away, so 30 foot
Towards sentry
5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30
So you can basically get like back here
And then
Ready an action
to
heat metal
if it attacks
any of my
party. Okay, sure.
So
Valor will just
as suggested, she's like
Arvel, stop, stop, Ava says to stop,
and she's basically pulling on the reins,
and the horse kind of pulls back,
and the wagon shifts ever so slightly.
The horse isn't reacting badly to a...
It does not look calm.
But it's not the horse's go yet, so.
I'm gonna move my mic.
Check it, it's buzzing.
Is it buzzing? Or silent. Yeah, it's all plugged in move my mic. Check it. It's buzzing. Is it buzzing?
Or silent?
Yeah, it's all plugged in on my end.
Sorry.
All right, is that better?
Yeah.
There we go.
So the horse, yeah, right now,
Vala literally stops the horse.
That's her action is to basically stop the horse from running
and keep it where it is.
Santa will basically...
She looks around and she's like,
what do we do?
Are we fighting this thing or should we run?
We'll see what happens.
We cannot run it.
Okay.
So she will hop around to the front
and just do the same thing as everybody else,
just ready in action.
After
everybody else almost, it is Quill.
Okay, so
looking at the horse I'm
right next to,
what's it look like?
Is it just going to start?
Give me an animal handling check.
Okay.
16 plus
3, 19
This is like a very
This is like a work horse
It's like a field horse
This isn't a war horse
If that wyvern comes near it
It's probably going to panic
And it's not particularly sturdy
It's still a horse, it's not like a cat
It's not going to fall down if it gets hit With rays But it's not particularly sturdy. It's still a horse. It's not like a cat. It's not going to fall down if it gets hit.
Right. You know, with rays.
But it's not a war horse. This thing's
probably going to panic. Okay.
Unless somebody can keep control of it.
Like, you can keep control of a horse,
but it just requires the person to make
animal handling checks to keep it calm.
In that case, I'll yell to Arval
to turn around
the horse. You need to get the wagon out of here
before it bolts somewhere.
It's like, okay.
Aayla said stay.
You're saying go?
Well, no, go backwards.
Right, okay.
Okay, so you say that.
And I will put down a spiritual weapon.
Where would you like to place it? I would like to place that. Ooh, it's a spiritual weapon. Where would you like to place it?
I would like to place that.
Ooh, it's a little hammer.
So can I place it anywhere within, what, 60 feet?
I believe so.
I'll just place it like 10 feet in front of me.
Okay.
And that will be the turn, I believe.
Okay.
I forgot about Tracker, which is this guardian.
On his turn, he will...
He's going to run up here.
He turns around.
He's just like,
you all need to get that horse and wagon out of here right now.
This thing, it's gone crazy.
It's going to attack anybody around it.
Get out of here.
That's what I said.
And he turns and he pulls out his longbow
and he's going to take a shot with the longbow at the creature.
But he's like turning.
He kind of has to turn really quick
as he's talking to you.
He snaps the arrow and it just thunks into a tree
because he had to spin too quickly to get the shot.
Okay.
That's his go.
Arvel will attempt to get the horse
to giddy up and get out of here.
But you can see Arvel's already losing control of it.
It's like whinnying.
It's pulling back and he's like, come on, girl, come on. And it's like trying to get it, but you can see Arvel's already losing control of it. It's like whinnying, it's pulling back, and he's like, come on, girl!
Come on! And it's like trying to get it, but
it's not turning, it's just kind of panicking
where it is. He's like, I can't
control her!
The wyvern. The
ferric wyvern. Ferric wyvern.
Ooh.
No, not that way. It comes straight towards us.
Okey dokey.
Go that way.
So, it flies, and you can see, like, it almost scans its head around.
It sees the two smaller targets, or the two targets off to the side,
but it sees a big clump of you together.
And you can see its eyes are bloodshot, its muscles taut and strained.
As it begins flapping overhead about ten feet above
pretty much all of you around that area.
It swipes down.
It lunges down with its head
to bite towards the guardian,
the one that was kind of telling you to get out of here.
And then its tail is going to swing around
and try and hit Quill.
Oh, cool.
This big, heavy club of a tail.
Yay.
That's what I wanted. You bite. this big heavy club of a tail. Yay. So.
That's what I wanted.
He bites.
You see it just clamps its jaw like the guardian manages to get one of his arms up
and the jaws just clamp around it
and he's just like grunts loudly
as he is bit quite severely by this huge jaws.
Okay.
There's some ready actions here.
There is.
They'll go off. So they go off, but its turn still goes off. Okay. There is. They'll go off.
So they go off, but its turn still goes off as well.
Natural 20.
I'm not even joking, dude.
I'm not even joking.
First natural 20 of
2019.
Yeah, and it's against me.
That's going to be
60. You're so squishy.
20 points of damage as this clock-like tail slams into you.
How are you this squishy?
Can you make a strength saving throw, please, Quill, as well?
11.
11. You are also knocked back.
Oh, good.
Am I launched at the same time?
10 feet away.
You're not launched back.
It just kind of slams you to the ground as you kind of try and move out of the way,
but this huge, heavy, mace-like tail
just slams into you, sends you sprawling to the ground.
Jeez.
And for chat's benefit, by the way,
I'm no longer doing injuries on critical hits.
I've changed my mind on that.
Okay, question mark.
Yes.
Meek, using Night Frost's abilities,
does that expend my spell slots?
No, it has in the description
that it can cast each of its spells once per day
and then you long rest, you get them back.
It's like charges.
So, readied actions. Who had a readied action?
So I believe Sentry did, Nova did.
Ayla, it was if it came near you,
so yours won't quite go off.
You said if it was
with a reach, yeah, exactly.
So Nova and Sentry, ready to action to go off
cool so mine was heat metal um i guess i'd target a very obviously metal-y bit yeah uh and it works
like there's enough metal in its part like it's got these metal plates almost grown like scales
but they're made of pure iron and you can target like a cluster of those and do that and i don't
believe is there a saving throw d8 i don't believe, is there a saving throw?
D8.
I don't believe there is on heat metal.
A constitution, if it's an object, you can drop.
No, it's not.
So just damage goes off.
It just goes off.
Century, you'll move up.
So 5, 10, 15. Allura would be proud.
Would you want to get right next to it?
Yeah, why not?
Okay, so you can move up to it,
but this thing is flying 10 feet above you.
So you can't make the attack with your axe, unfortunately.
It's kind of like flying 10 feet in the air.
12 points of damage.
12 points of damage.
So you begin to watch as these scales go red hot.
The creature begins roaring
and it's still kind of keeping its wings
beating, but you can see that it's obviously pained
by this hot series of
scales.
The horses go. The horse will
make a wisdom saving throw.
The horse
breaks
free of the wagon.
And just is panicking. It's in its place. So it's like pulling itself free out of the thing and it, good. And just is panicking it's in its place.
So it's like pulling itself free out of the thing
and it's panicking. It's not run off yet,
but it's spooked.
Easy girl.
Easy girl.
The little guardian
with his little position of cover gets his little
hand crossbow out.
He looks over to you, Aayla, and he's like,
you guys should get out of here.
This thing's gone crazy.
Get it on the ground. We'll take care of it.
Okay. He's like, I like your
spirit, lady.
He fires this little crossbow bolt, but it just
hits into this kind of armor plating around the
wyvern and doesn't quite penetrate in.
He's like, ah, goddamn this thing.
And he begins reloading.
After him, we go to Sentry.
Okay, I'm going to Flame Lance it.
Okay.
So you're just going to point it straight upwards.
Straight up at it, yeah.
Okay, so it would normally be a line like this,
but it's going up in the air,
so I'm not going to bother putting those down.
So give me the details for this.
So it is a 30-foot long by 5-foot wide line of fiery energy,
so you have to make a DC 13 dexterity saving throw.
Done.
That is a zero.
Cool.
And then you make...
Wow.
And you take 3d10 of fire damage.
So roll that up for me.
Here we go.
Let me grab my d10s.
Last one.
Thank you all.
Nice.
Is that...
That's a d100.
D10.
That one. got it. 11. Is that 10? 10.
21. 21 points of fire damage.
So with that you watch essentially, and you take some cold damage I believe as it sucks the heat from your body system.
1d6 of cold for me. I'll roll that for you.
That's 4 points. So you kind of raise
your gauntleted arm up and you watch as
the wand-like protrusion
begins charging, glowing with this red heat,
drawing the heat from your own body.
As you fire this beam of
hot fire, it streaks up,
cuts into the creature's body and you can
hear it kind of howl,
this kind of...
as it kind of takes in and its wings begin to beat in these heavy rhythms
as it roars back and it looks down
and you can see these bloodshot eyes train on you.
At the end of your turn... Is that the end of your turn? Sorry.
I don't want to move anywhere.
Can I move?
You've used pretty much...
Actually, no, because that was a different turn,
so you could have stood it.
You can circle around it.
As long as you don't go ten feet further away from it,
you're within its range.
I think I'll stay where I am.
Okay.
Yeah.
Okay.
So you stay where I am.
At the end of your turn,
it's going to try and hit you with its tail
using a legendary action.
Bring it on!
That is a natural one,
so that is only a
eight to hit. It does not
hit. So you raise up the shield of
Solvin and you hear this loud
as it kind of sends these vibrations, but
you stand your ground firm.
After Sentry, we go to Lucius.
Oh, God.
Thiasca, what do we do?
Eh.
Ah.
Ah. Ah.
Ah.
No.
Acid.
Yes.
What?
Chromatic warp.
Okay.
Just at first level.
Okay.
And it's just a spell attack.
Yep.
15 plus five is 20.
20 hits.
And it's eight.
Eh.
Eh.
Six.
Three. Eleven. Three.
Eleven.
Plus.
That's it.
Eleven points of acid damage.
So with this, as the acid slams into it,
you can see it begins melting away at some of its flesh and bone.
And it howls.
It's kind of like,
it begins to burn away as it just gets this
and it turns
and it's beginning to assess the threat.
Dicromancy? Yeah.
So how much damage would that be?
That would be...
It's...
When you explain how the Dicromancy...
Charisma Modifier. Yep.
And my level of the spell
which is a 1 plus my charisma modifier
which is
a plus 3
so 4 total
it's a 4 total
as you hit it with that attack
you can see that whatever kind of
primal survival instincts it's built up
trigger as it begins to feel threatened, and it inhales.
Uh-oh.
And this cloud of purple venom erupts out in a 15-foot cone,
which will basically hit, and it will try and hit as many people as possible.
Mm-hmm.
Are you all right, Tom?
No.
I don't have a lot of health left.
Century,
Santa, Quill, and the horse.
I'm not horsey.
So that will be a constitution
saving throw from Century and Quill
and Santa and the horse.
The horse fails, as does Santa.
Fourteen?
Fourteen. What'd you get? Eight.
Eight? Okay. What'd you get? Eight. Eight? Okay.
So,
you both take,
rather than,
I'll roll it just to be fair.
That is going to be
24 points of poison damage.
Whoa!
The horse collapses.
That was close to, like, instant death.
Can I ask, what are the rules on instant death?
You have to go below your hit points.
So basically, if you go from zero to your...
If you go to your negative value of your maximum hit points...
You haven't.
Right.
So let's say your hit points were 32.
If a single attack put you to negative 32 or more hit points, that's it, you're done.
If that was six more...
It would have been done.
Done.
So you're on zero?
I'm on zero, I'm done.
Constitution saving throw, please.
18.
18, you're fine.
So you watch as this cloud of poison just washes over the horse.
The horse just collapses, as does Quill.
Santa is, like, barely standing.
She's, like, coughing.
You can see, like, blood's kind of, like, coming out as she coughs.
She's trying to get the smoke out of the veins, out of the air,
but she's just, like, reacting,
and she's, like, blindly holding up her fists,
ready to launch some attacks.
But, yeah, and this thing is still flying about 10 feet above.
So that was a reaction into Lucius's damage. You can still
move if you wanted, Lucius.
I guess my spiritual weapon
disappears as well. It does, unfortunately. The concentration
goes. There's still a cloud there. The cloud
quickly dissipates. It's like a breath weapon.
It's like a... I'm going to move up to Quill then.
Okay. It's a blurry form.
Blurry form.
A smudge. Yeah. Okay.
After Lucius, we go to Ayla.
Okay.
Can I shout at Sentry to hold her shield out?
Okay.
Because I want to use it as a springboard.
Okay.
To get the dragon.
Watching Wonder Woman?
Yeah.
It's very Wonder Woman-esque.
Yeah, like throwing up on the shield.
Yeah. I want to do that. I really want to-esque, yeah, like throwing up on the shield.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I want to do that.
Okay.
I really want to reach it.
Okay.
So first I'm going to rage.
Okay, you're going to do that.
So, Century, if you do this, it will just cost your reaction to do it.
That's fine.
So you can spend your reaction to basically give Ayla a boost up.
Yeah.
That's cool.
Sure.
Okay.
Okay, so I'm going to rage.
So you rage.
That's bonus action.
Yep.
And then I'm going to run at it. Okay.
So you're going to make me an athletics check to do a running jump.
And can you make me an athletics check to see how high you can help Ola get, basically?
Oh, no.
11.
9.
9.
Okay.
I will say you can make the attack.
You can still get the distance, but it is uneven, so it's going to be a disadvantage.
Oh, well.
The attack's going to be a disadvantage.
Okay.
Now, I would say this most definitely counts as a reckless attack,
but it's your choice whether you use that ability.
So it's a disadvantage, you can make it a normal attack roll with reckless attack.
I'll make it a normal one.
Okay.
I rolled that first.
Okay.
So, 22 to hit.
Hits, for sure. Okay. And dexterity. Yes, I, maybe... 22 to hit? Hits, for sure.
Okay, and Dexterity save. Yes, I will make that now.
Three, four. 16 on the dex save.
I zap it.
For...
Eight damage then and...
Okay. Two lightning damage halved It was four
Two
Two
It's improving
But it was half the one
No no no it was four
Oh it was four
Oh okay
Oh my goodness okay
Shocking
It's a record
So you get sprung up in the air
But it looked cool
The way that sentry throws you
It just slightly unbalances you
But you still manage to bring this huge hammer
Down into its face, kind of
snapping. You feel one of its fangs break
off, several teeth break
as the hammer slams into its head
and it kind of reels back.
It does actually land on the ground now.
It kind of lands on the ground as you've
smacked it. You fall. You're going to
take D6 points of falling damage because you're technically
falling 10 feet for one point of damage
as you land on the ground. Afterla we go to nova uh what does stable mean creature becomes
stable means you don't do death saving throws yes i would like to run up to quill and uh
put my hand on his beak 15 20 and cast spare 20. And cast Spare the Dying. Yep. Okay, so you cast Spare the Dying.
Cool, you are no longer making death saving throws.
Can I try and pull him back?
I think I've got like five.
You've got five.
Make a strength check for me.
Just straight up strength.
A big burp.
I mean, he's quite light, but...
Zero.
I was planning on doing that.
Can I aid as a bonus action?
You didn't do it on your turn.
Sorry, dude. You've got to try and say
on your turn that that's what you want to do.
And with a zero, you weren't going
to help. You're tugging and trying to pull him back
but you just don't have the strength.
At least just put your hands there.
Yeah, you put your hands under him.
And then bonus action, heat metal again.
Yes.
Eleven more points.
So you can see that the fire is beginning to mow away
and you can hear hissing of sinew
and bone and the creature is
on the ground now
its neck snapping as this kind of giant
snake-like worm head
kind of whips around its tail
beating behind it and its clawed wings
kind of digging into the ground.
After Nova
it's at technically tracker's go
so he turns around he's like hey
you guys are pretty good in the fight um and he will because he's only got he's only got a long
bow dribbling a little bit the only thing he can do is disengage and move back because he's got a
long bow he can't really shoot it so he's just going to back off like while you're you're
distracting it and tries to take aim. To us it looks like he
complimented us whilst running away.
No, he's very clearly backing up
with his bow drone. He's not running away.
Great.
Okay, Valor will
I guess seeing that
the horse is now unhitched and unconscious
you guys are at quill.
Valor will magic missile.
If I can find some d4s.
Ah, hell.
Did the short one get a go?
Yeah.
Yeah, he did.
He shot and he missed.
Oh.
Wow.
So you watch as Valor's magic missiles
don't seem to have
a huge impact
they kind of
pummel into its body
but it's already
kind of like
whipping its head
around its wings
or almost kind of
protecting it as well
as it reaches its wings
up to defend itself
after that
Sana
is going to
attempt to attack it
three times
yes
miss
kicking
miss
I rolled three sevens
seven seven seven that's lucky for you so she goes up Miss, miss. Kicking. Miss. I rolled three sevens.
Seven, seven, seven.
That's lucky for you.
So she goes up, and you can see her kicking into its body,
but the armored form of the wyvern is just absorbing the blows, and you can see that she's also coughing and spluttering the poison,
obviously working its way through her system.
After Santa, it is, I I believe Quill
You are done but you're not making
saving throws so you're okay
Arvil will take a shot with Evangeline
Arvil
At two he will action surge
This time he hits
For six points of damage
Bam
You can see now that the Wyvern is like
one of the bolts embeds into its body.
It turns around.
At the end of Arvel's turn, it will attempt to,
Ayla, you hit it.
It's gonna try and tail attack you.
At the end of Arvel's turn, that's gonna be a 24 to hit.
That might hit.
Okay.
But it'll be half.
It will be be because this is
bludgeoning damage
that's going to be
ten
so half to five
and can you make
a strength saving
throw please
oh natural one
natural one
you are knocked prone
so you're knocked
prone onto the ground
as this tail collides
with you
and then at the end
of Arvel's go
it's the Wyvern's go
so he used his last
legendary action on Arvel's
I'll see if his Poison Breath
recharges. It does not.
So he will.
He will.
Hmm.
He will. Move around here.
Keeping in threat range.
Basically, he kind of lifts
up into the air with Aayla below him.
And then he will attempt to
Concealing you two over its prey
He's going to attempt to bite and tail attack Lucius
Am I its prey?
He does have disadvantage
Well you're like a feathery poultry thing
Yeah but there's a horse right there, it's bigger
Yeah, you're both its prey
It's a big meal
So Lucius, that is going to be a 12
To hit you with the disadvantage.
It does not hit you.
Okay, so it tries to bite you,
but it bites into the half-blurred image to the side of you.
Nova, a big tail, tries to hit you.
25.
Yeah.
Shield's not going to do anything in it.
That's 10 points of bludgeoning damage and a strength saving throw, please.
Must have done a hell of a roll against me.
Yes.
It was a crit.
So, yeah, good point.
14.
I need to make myself look more inevitable.
You're not prone.
Can someone prone me?
And then it was 10?
Yes, 10 points of bludgeoning damage.
There's a lot of people on the ground now.
Yeah, that's Aayla's on the ground, Quill's down, Nova's on the ground,
Horse's on the ground who is on the ground
With that we go back up to Scout the little wolf the little guardian
He will make an attack for 15 just hits
So this is going to be with sneak attack
It's not bad actually
attack.
That's not bad, actually.
Yay, go tiny guardian.
That's another nine.
So he watches his bolt, he kind of takes careful aim,
fires, and it just gets underneath
into the Wyvern's body underneath it.
It's part of its armor plating.
Snaps its head
round, but doesn't seem too concerned.
Then we go to Sentry.
Quick question. Yes.
Because I got hit, do I need to make a
concentration check? Yes, you do, yes.
So it's a constitution saving
throw and the DC would
be 10. Deconstitution
saving throw.
17. Yeah, you're fine.
Keeps the spell.
And I didn't hit Lucius so you don't have to make it for
blur. Wicked.
Sentry.
I'm going to call to Sana and say,
I'm going to try and bring this dragon down to the ground.
When I do, can you try and hit it for me?
She's like,
Try.
We need to take this down.
Yep.
So I'm going to cast Ensnaring Strike.
Okay. And try andsnaring Strike. Okay.
And try and pull it down.
Okay.
Ooh.
So it's ten feet up in the air
and Ensnaring Strike
is on a melee attack
or is it a ranged attack?
I think it's on your
next melee attack, right?
Oh, it is a weapon attack.
Oh, I can't do that.
So you can still try
and you can make a jumping attack
like Ayla did.
You can try and do like a jump.
You can...
Maybe.
I don't know. You're like 60, aren't you? The other. You can try and do like a jump. Maybe. I don't know.
You're like 60, aren't you?
The other thing you could try and do is you could try and throw the axe.
I could throw the axe.
I'd say you can try and throw the axe.
It'd be a disadvantage because you're not proficient.
It's not a weapon to try for throwing.
It's worth a try. Okay, so you cast and staring strike and then you're just going to...
Throw the axe, yeah. Okay, sure. I'll let you do this.
Dedication. I like it. Okay. So disadvantage. So roll 2d20s take the lowest i hope this hits because
if not someone three turns over is about to get an axe to the face yeah and then stuck to the ground
four plus the attack bonus you know what i mean yeah six yep so 10 total um no so the axe you
kind of throw it it sails just past the wyvern, lands on the other side.
Yeah, you can put the...
Oh yeah, I'll put that there.
It'll literally land on the opposite side to Sentry, yeah, so about there.
So the axe like...
just sails through the air.
Okay.
Anything else you'd like to do?
You could move round, because you've not moved.
You'd still be in his threat group.
Yeah.
You won't get through it.
Just step on my body.
You could go under him.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Literally, you could just run.
Well, you could run underneath him, actually.
Run under him, slide, and then pick up the axe.
Pick up the axe.
I'd say it's a bonus action.
Oh, no, bonus action, you cast a spell, so you can't pick up the axe this turn.
Okay.
But you're playing it.
So it's right next to it.
So after Century does her cool slide maneuver,
we go to Lucius.
Lucius is going to panic,
get a potion of healing out of his pocket
and put it in Quill's beak.
Oh.
Regular healing?
Regular healing.
That's going to be five, seven hit points back, Quill.
You know, when you were like,
oh, does anyone want to do anything?
I was like, there's something I really need to do
in Ironwick. And the thing that I need to do anything? I was like, there's something I really need to do in Ironwick.
And the thing that I need to do is buy potions.
Yeah.
We've got to go.
Ayla.
It's like right above.
Half movement.
Can I skirt around the back?
Yeah. I can't quite see where you are.
But I still can't reach it with my...
You can try. It'd be a jumping attack.
You'd have to make, like,
you'd have to do a jump,
which would be an athletics check,
and a standing 10-foot jump.
I mean, you've got,
you're, like, what,
nearly six foot or so.
Can I try and do a sentry boost again?
Yeah, sure.
Yeah.
If you're willing.
Sentry would have to give up a reaction, though.
That's the only thing.
It's up to you.
That's cool.
No, we can do it.
Should I try and do that?
Yes, you give the thumbs up.
Sentry, thumbs up back. Yeah. Okay. You're like Sonic you. That's cool, no, we can do it. Should I try and do that? Yeah, so you give the thumbs up, Sentry thumbs up back.
Okay.
You're like Sonic and she's like a bouncer.
Yeah.
So athletics check, athletics check.
Ah, for fuck's sake!
You know you have advantage on these two.
You rolled the same again!
Oh wait, I do!
No, this is freaky, they both rolled two.
11.
Okay.
11.
11, still at disadvantage.
So that's not enough and Sentry didn't get enough
to boost you, so you can still make your attack.
I'm gonna reckless again.
Okay, so just straight attack roll then. Not enough advantage.
Alright, no, I'm not gonna hit with this.
At this point you're just standing on her shield swinging a hammer around.
It's like, ugh! Ugh!
I'm gonna get a spider off the ceiling.
It's like, it's 10 to hit, it's not gonna hit.
Okay, yeah, 10 doesn't hit.
Yes, I can make a dex hit on through. That is a 11.
So he fails!
Fails.
Takes full damage.
One!
So one damage.
Okay.
I'm really doing well.
At the end of Ayla's turn,
it's going to try and hit you with its tail for 15.
No.
Doesn't hit.
I'm at 17.
17.
Damn.
Look at that AC.
So that's the end of Ayla's go. Nova?
Can I
cast Levitate
on Sentry?
Yes, you can.
I'll go, you're going up!
And you raise her, what, 10 feet up?
Yeah, well, I guess above.
Basically bring it up in line so she can melee attack.
Yeah.
I will say that, would you let her pick up her axe first?
Yes.
Because it didn't sound like you did.
Can I hold action?
You could hold an action until she grabs it and then lift her up.
Can I still bonus action my heat metal, though, if I'm holding an action?
Yes, because you would go, on your turn, you go,
I'm going to bonus action heat metal,
and then I will hold my action for when Tentri picks up her axe to levitate her.
I will do that.
That's the way to do it.
Okay, cool.
So bonus action, roll your heat metal down.
Can I stand up as well?
Yes.
Somebody can do that for you.
Ten points.
She was next to Quirrell, so just make sure.
Ten points.
Yeah, this thing's looking pretty beaten up.
You can see its muscles beginning to burn and smolder.
And then, yeah, I'll cost Levitate
when Sentry's picked up cracks.
Okay.
At the end of your turn,
unfortunately, sensing it is quite weakened,
it is going to fly.
No!
So that's going to move over to about here.
Oh, so it's back up a bit.
Do any of us get a turn?
Oh, yeah, do we get attacks of opportunity?
No, it's using its Legendary Action to do this.
Yeah, we'll go about here.
Yeah, so it moves itself.
It begins flying away.
It kind of defensively flies away at the end of things
and feeling this kind of pressure building up against it.
Actually, no, because...
Let me make an intelligence check for this thing.
Yeah, okay.
So instead of...
I'm going to change where it was.
Right.
No, where was it?
No, it was in the middle of us.
It was in the middle there.
Okay, perfect.
So it will go...
Oh, right behind... It's going to eat my there. Okay, perfect. So it will go... Oh, right behind...
It's going to eat my face.
Nova.
Yeah.
Why?
Yes, because as Nova's holding the dagger, concentrating,
it kind of glances over and there is a recognition
that this creature is doing something to it.
It knows that it's doing something.
So it flies over.
That's the last of its legendary actions.
But I'm so cute.
So that was Nova's go.
Tracker will take a shot with his longbow.
I roll a three.
He misses.
Oh, come on.
Yeah, he's not very good.
Guardian's the worst.
He's old.
Leave him alone.
I'm so old.
I mean, I can't use that excuse all the time.
In real life.
What would Valor do?
She can still magic missile, actually.
She will magic missile.
Oh.
Rubbish.
Come on.
Really bad.
That's like a five, six points of damage.
I rolled three ones.
That's real bad.
So she, again, she kind of channels this purple energy,
throws out these three orbs as they slam into the creature.
And you can see it's like wings are beating slower.
Its tail is kind of flopping around.
It's disorientated.
It does look very badly injured.
After Valor, it is Auroval.
Auroval.
Daedalus. Misses. And he used his action surge. Did I miss a turn? Damn it it is Arval. Daedalus.
Misses.
And he used his action surge.
Did I miss a turn?
Damn it, Arval.
No, sorry.
You go now.
Okay.
So I'm laying on the ground next to Nova.
It's directly above me.
So I'm not in its range for it to ice me.
Like, it doesn't get... Oh, no, it can.
It's got a ten-foot reach.
Do you want to stand up?
Not really.
I feel like laying down.
I'm further away from its mouth.
Yeah.
I...
No.
I'll stand...
You're next to Nova, so you're on, like, this one, yeah.
Directly next to Nova, underneath the dragon on like this one, yeah. Directly next to Nova underneath the dragoon.
And I will level three
guiding bolt. Level three guiding
bolt!
Oh my god.
It looks like every other time I've
cast it, but much brighter. Okay.
And I know I can do it at level four
and higher, so every time I do it, just
even brighter.
So I do a spell attack
yep
it's
it's
13
13
okay
well I've sent a flare up
so John knows what it is
bright missile
kind of
scorches through the air
it sails past its wing
which it just barely
pulls out the way
as this guining bolt just launches into the air.
Yes, I can see it now, yes.
Firework shell.
In that case, I will blade ward myself.
No, I can't.
Carry on.
Continue.
I don't want to run away.
Santa should have gone before you.
She basically runs and tries to make a big leaping jump
with her beast walker because she's got, like, rabbit legs.
Bunny legs.
So she will try and make a jump.
Natural one.
Like, all of the NPCs roll so bad.
So she kind of trips at the last second and, like, stumbles
and doesn't quite make the jump.
Hits into me.
My arm moves.
Slams down.
Yeah.
What a shit show.
It's a whole chain of disaster.
Thanks, Sana.
God damn it.
Wyman's go.
Oh, no.
If it recharges his breath weapon.
Doesn't.
It will make bite and tail attack against Nova.
Cute.
Sensing that she is the big threat.
I'm not.
Well, to it, you've got this burning.
It doesn't like it.
23.
You're just burning it.
Yeah, that might hit me a little bit.
23 hits.
So we're going to take eight points of piercing damage from the bite
as its giant jaws slam down.
Check the mic again.
Is it really?
It's okay.
Is it okay?
Okay.
Okay.
And then the tail is a 25.
Yeah, that hits.
Oh, boy.
Sorry, no.
21.
That hits.
Ooh.
Let me just...
I just want to double check shield.
Shield is plus 5, though, isn't it?
I believe so.
In which case, carry on, attack me.
That's going to be 10 points of bludgeoning damage
and the strength saving throw.
And that's going to be two concentration checks, please.
10 to that last one.
So that was the strength saving throw, so you're not prone.
No, no, no, sorry, the ten points of damage.
And then the strength saving throw is eleven.
So you're not prone.
And now make two constitution saving throws for your concentration, please.
Constitution.
Five, six, seven, eight.
Actually, you don't need to make them.
And then twenty.
Okay, so the eight, the levitate drops.
But I didn't do that.
She hasn't picked up her axe.
No, that's true.
Okay, so the heat metal fails because you rolled the eight.
Well, I was already going to give that up because levitate.
You're going to cast that.
So the heat metal goes.
That's that turn.
Yeah.
And then that's it.
So the heat metal spell goes.
Yeah.
Okay.
Sentry.
I'm going to pick up my axe.
Okay.
I will cast levitate.
Okay, levitate is just straight up.
It's not fly.
So you levitate 10 feet up in the air,
and now you look across the way at the Wyvern.
I didn't plan for this.
At the end of Sentry's Go,
the Wyvern will make another tail attack.
On who?
You.
Cool.
That is only a 11.
That doesn't hit.
Doesn't hit.
So you throw yourself
roll out of the way
as this table slams
down on the ground.
After Century Scout.
He technically should
have gone first.
That is a
11 to hit.
Fails.
Oh, my God.
Jeez.
Ayla.
OK.
Sorry.
No, Lucius.
Sorry.
Sorry.
Sorry.
Lucius. I'm going to ask Night Frost polla. Okay. Sorry, no, Lucius. Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry. Lucius.
I'm going to ask Nightfrost politely.
Yes?
I think we need to go bow form now.
Bonus action.
Okay.
Please.
Please do that.
Please.
Okay.
He, as you're trying to speak to him,
you just, you kind of open the connection
and there's just babbling.
It's just like, fighting, fighting again.
It's just like the war, not again, not again.
And just whatever request just isn't hitting him.
You still have a bonus action to request.
Yay.
He has a freaking ability to tether something to the ground.
Really?
He does.
Anyway.
He's not very sane.
Who is?
All right.
What would you like to do?
I will do another
chromatic orb.
Yeah.
Melf's acid arrow.
Melf's acid arrow.
Okay.
Screw it.
So that is a
spell attack.
18 plus 5, yes.
It's 4d4 acid.
Yay!
And then I get 2d4 at the end of his next turn.
Melph, keep your dice.
Somebody give him dice.
Somebody give him d4s.
Here's 4d4s right now.
There's a whole tray here.
6.
8.
11 points of acid damage.
Diachromancy.
That is a level two, plus three.
Five points of acid damage.
So, describe to us how this acid arrow kills it.
Yeah.
Okay.
Excellente.
I do the motions of drawing back a bow,
and as it does so, acid spills out from a gem, forming an orange bow.
Fantastic.
That forms, and I ping it, and the arrow, as it goes, my eye blazes with an orange glow.
It sends another burst of orange energy into the arrow as it pierces.
And it just streaks through.
The acid burns its way through the metal.
The heat metal has been weakening over the
time and your various attacks have been
slowly chipping away at and it just
burns through the creature's chest just
as it looks like it's beginning to pull away
at the end of your turn as if it was about to run away
and it just pierces
through its body and it just
bam! It does
pretty much do this Nova why don't
you give me a dexterity saving throw. No!
I'd say you're just out of the way. 18. You just you could have like roll you
like rolly polly roll like you keep rolling as this thing slams down into
the ground you kind of tumble into Santa who like helps you up picks you up off the ground as this thing just like. Can she pick me up like bodyguard style ground. You kind of tumble into Santa, who, like, helps you up,
picks you up off the ground.
It's this thing just like... Can she pick me up, like, bodyguard style?
Yeah, she kind of scoops you up.
And I'm just holding on to her like,
that was almost really bad.
And then she's like,
and just blows the cuffs up on you, like...
Yay!
And with that, we're out of initiative.
Oh!
Oh, well! Am I still floating? You didn of initiative. Oh! Arvold!
Am I still floating?
You didn't tell me that we're in there.
Arvold was just like,
I ain't never seen one of these things,
but what the hell is that?
It's a wyvern with iron.
It's a ferric wyvern.
And this guardian with the six eyes is like,
couldn't hit that damn thing if I tried.
I really must be going feral.
He just kind of holds his head. You're a
guardian? Yep. He's a guardian?
Hello.
I'd like to think Sentry is still floating up.
Sentry's like floating up in the air.
Sentry, do you want to come down
or are you enjoying this? I want to come down
please. The little guardian is
like looking up and he's like, wow, look at that one.
She can fly, track her!
No, no!
Gently, gently place you.
I think like Arvel and Sanne are checking the horse
to see if it's still alive.
Trying to think how many rounds went by.
Probably dead, isn't it?
Quite a lot of red.
Oh.
Oh.
Oh.
Rations.
Yeah, the horse is just like, it, like, it just looks really sickly.
Like, it's, like, life's been, like.
What was the horse's name?
Liddle?
You don't know.
You didn't ask.
Yeah.
And so, with that, like, yeah, the wyvern just lands.
And you can see, like, this weird, like, metallic pattern through all of its skin and body.
And you are left doing things.
I'm going to go over and kick it.
Okay. Aayla's kicking it. Anybody else?
Didn't stay on the damn ground.
Stupid wings.
Thanks for your help.
Man, that thing really
came out of nowhere.
How long have
you been here?
He looks over, he's like ah another guardian
Good to see ya
Hi I'm Sentry
Tracker that's Scout
Hey I'm Scout
And he kind of like raises his little hands
Asking me how long I've been here
Too damn long
This must be my 5th year
Oh I see
He gives you a look
He's like, he gives you a look.
He's like, yeah, fifth year.
Okay.
And Scout, the little one kind of goes quiet.
He's like, what about you?
How long have you been around?
I haven't seen you around before.
I've been inactive for about three, 400 years.
Active for 13.
Wow, and Tracker's looking, he's like,
yeah, you strike me as one of the older models.
You've probably been around a little while.
Scout's pretty new.
He was built just before the war.
He's a bit untrained, so he's pretty young.
Me, I was probably about the same time as you, I imagine.
So what have you been doing out here?
Oh, well, we've got a little place
up in Kaylie's Rest.
Me, Scout, and three others that we've
found, banded together.
Been surviving, building ourselves a little
life of what we can, trying to do
what we can.
Me and Scout, we help some of the hunters.
We go out into the Iron Will to track
animals, kill monsters.
We thought we were going after some sort of razor bear,
but turns out it was this thing.
Ferric Wyvern.
The other hunters didn't stand a chance.
They were slaughtered.
But me and Scout, well, we're made of tougher stuff,
so we managed to get out of there.
A few dints and scrapes.
Nothing we can't fix.
So have you been working in Kaylie's Rest all this time?
Not the whole time.
Scout's like, well, for me, most of my life.
Tracker's like, yeah, sorry, kid.
I forgot that you're pretty new to this.
Most of the others, they're pretty new.
Chip and Sweep and Scout,
they're all pretty young, so they've mostly been
in Kaylie's Rest. I found them
wandering around in Savona, but me,
I've been traveling for about five years now, so been all over the place.
There's more of you, then?
Oh, yeah. Well, not, there's a few more. There's three more in Kaylie's Rest, and I'm sure there's
plenty more of us across Savona and Erois, but problem is, us guardians, we were built and kept
all over the place. Some of us were soldiers, some of us were assistants. When everything happened,
a lot of us either chose to shut down and got lost and forgotten about or stored somewhere funny.
Me, I woke up in a forest. Turned out the whole landscape had shifted around me. I'd been buried
under a huge pile of rocks and rubble and dirt and got dug out by a quarry team looking for iron.
So you said you've been
active for five years?
About that, I reckon. What's your name,
fella? Oh, I'm Quill.
Nice to meet you, Quill. Tracker.
Tracker, and what was the...
Ah, my name's Scout!
You can see he's kind of got like a
halfling build to him. He's like really small.
He's got like this little kind of like dagger and this little arm bow.
I'll hold a hand out like, oh, nice to meet you.
Oh, go for the other hand.
Yeah.
No problem.
So do you know why you were woken up?
Why you were reactivated?
Oh, me?
Tracker reactivated me.
Found me in a junk shop.
Some guy thought that I was like a suit of armor or something.
Oh.
And Tracker's just like, me?
Well, the people that, when they uncovered me, must have done something.
Just rebooted, got back up.
Oh, okay.
Been offering my services.
I mean, by the name as the name implies, I used to be a tracker back in the old days.
Serving the Starborn Alliance.
Yeah.
Hey. And he looks over, he's like,
you're, he looks at the shield, Solvin, right?
Yeah, yeah.
Thought I recognized you, Sentry.
Yeah.
I remember hearing about you.
We did a little tour over in Solvin once.
I learned some tracking techniques while I was there.
They were making a big fuss about you protecting
the family there for a change.
You were like top of the line.
Yeah, I'm the royal family's guard, yeah.
Well, fancy that.
Never figured I'd meet a celebrity in my time, but great to see you.
A celebrity?
It's a celebrity.
Oh, she's one of the top class models.
One of the best designs ever made in Solvin.
They were famed for their guardian designs.
All their weapons and technology.
So are you from Solvin?
No, not me. I don't even know where I'm from.
Just got built, put into the army.
The name Tracker, I mean, there was about seven Trackers in my unit.
We just used to call each other by numbers.
I was number four.
So Tracker Four.
Tracker Four, that's me.
These days, just go by Tracker, though.
Most people don't really get the numbers thing.
What happened to the other trackers?
Don't know. Never found them.
Okay. While this is all going on, by the way, I'm casting Prayer of Healing.
Okay.
It's like a ten minute thing.
Yeah, sure.
What does that do?
It's six people within range, 2d8 plus my spellcasting, healing.
So who are you healing?
Who are you healing?
Well, myself.
Yep.
Then myself.
Just for once. Yep. Then myself.
Just for once.
Oh.
So I think Nova, Sana, Aayla.
And did Sentry take any damage?
I think everybody else pretty much didn't get hit, so.
Yep.
Me, Nova, Sana, Sentry, Aayla, Lucius.
I'm fine.
Not Lucius.
Wow.
Horse dead.
Horse is dead. Yeah. The'm fine. Not Lucius. Horse, dead. Horse is dead.
The two guardians look pretty beat up.
They look like they've had some dinks and scrapes as well.
So if you've got one more, you can always choose one of them if you wanted.
Valor and Arval are fine.
I'm doing some healing. Which one?
Heal the kid, and he points at Scout. He's like, no, come on,
Tracker, you're more beat up than me.
I mean, I've got to pick one. I've got ten minutes.
The older one's like, heal the kid.
Oh, okay.
Scout, come here.
Come here, little scout.
Scoot over.
Okay, and then, yeah, I guess after the ten minutes, I'll do that.
Okay, great.
So everybody, seven, plus seven, 14, plus my spellcasting, which is something.
Wow, been a long time since there's been any magical healing.
17 health for everybody.
Oh, we just haven't been around any, you know, clerics or priests or healers
or whatever you want to call them these days, I guess.
That's not what I am.
Whatever you are, we've been having to look after ourselves for a while, so.
Right.
How do you do that?
Well, not really by much, just repairing it every can, getting some sleep, getting good rest, patching ourselves up when we can.
Okay.
Just, you know, the old-fashioned way.
This is fascinating.
We're trying to get back to Kaylee's rest.
Would you be able to help us get back our...
Oh, sure, yeah.
Yeah, no problem.
Yeah, we can...
Me and Scout can probably help pull the wagon a little bit,
and, well, when we've got to go back anyway,
our place is in Kaylee's Rest,
so the others will probably get worried where we are.
We've got to report back to what happened to the Hunter's crew, so...
We'd love to meet the rest.
I mean, I'm fascinated.
I've got so many questions.
Sure.
Guardian in our place is always welcome.
That's the thing I've always tried to make it available.
If any guardians get found, they're always got a welcome place with us.
Hey.
Sorry, Lucius.
Nice to meet you, Lucius.
Active 24 years.
They might have enough salvageable parts for Echo.
Yeah.
Your Echo's damaged?
Yeah. Oh, sure, we've
got plenty of parts. I know a few.
I've been repairing mine for a while now.
I can give you some tips. Oh, amazing. That would be so
helpful. Thank you. Of course.
Nice to meet you, kid. Hi, I'm
Nova. I feel better now. Excellent.
Well, yeah, sure, you can watch if you want.
I should probably warn you,
some of the others can be a little strange.
Smasher in particular, he might seem a bit
intimidating. Smasher? Yeah.
He sounds cool. What does he do? He does sound cool.
What do you think he does?
Trax? Nope. Okay.
I'm gonna assume Smashing then. Yep.
He was an old, what they call
a vanguard guardian.
Basically they'd stick him at the front of a
front line of soldiers, give him a big shield or a mace or something like that,
and, well, his job was to break enemy shield lines.
He's a crazy guy.
Pretty damaged now.
It doesn't speak much, but...
Okay, and how old is Smasher?
He's pretty young.
He's older than Scout, but he was kind of...
I mean, those Smasher units,
they used to burn through those things during the war, so...
I see.
Lots of them got built.
How many years were you active before the Sundering?
Tracker goes quiet, and Scout kind of looks at the ground and scuffs his feet a little bit.
So you were active five years since?
Yeah, I was active for about ten years.
I was a vet.
Oh.
I see.
Don't worry, I'm fine. I just... vet. Oh. Don't worry,
I'm fine. I just...
My time's coming up, that's all.
Do you have a protocol in your little
unit?
We can talk about that later.
I don't want to get into it right now.
It's very rude. My apologies.
It's fine, but let's not talk
about that now.
Listen, let's get back. I need to report that this thing's out here anyway.
Do we need to do anything with this?
I mean, I'd be impressed if anybody could move that thing by themselves.
Move, I just, okay.
That's fine.
When we get back, I'll tell the Harvest Guard that it's out here.
They'll send somebody to come and collect it,
probably take it apart for parts.
Sorry.
What do they call it for them, these
folks, organic folks?
Harvesting? Yeah, harvesting. That's it.
Hmm. Nice.
What's your name, kid?
Ayla. Nice to meet you,
Ayla. Kid. Ah, sorry.
Do you call everyone kid? Kind of, yeah.
Amongst my kind, I'm pretty old,
I guess, so call everybody kid.
I picked it up from your kind.
Well, you know, you organic folks.
They like wild elves in Kaylie's Rest?
I can't say.
There's a few of them I've seen around, but Kaylie's Rest is complicated.
I'll tell you about it on the way.
Okay.
And as you go begin picking up your things,
Arvel and Valor are just kind of like tending to the wagon
and kind of letting you guys have the conversation.
Sanne is just like coughing up.
Yeah.
But she's obviously healed by the prayer.
But you guys begin making your way,
and Tracker turns around and he's like,
yeah, Kaylee's rest.
I mean, it used to be a pretty welcoming place.
Everybody there was always treated us fairly okay.
Used to be.
Yeah, well, I mean, there was always trouble. You okay. Used to be. Yeah, well,
there was always trouble. You get some thugs, you get
some lowlifes coming into town, think they
can pick on the guardians, but
we normally deal with those, or
Smasher does anyway. Okay. But
lately, the Church of Palor
is getting a bit, I don't know, funny
in the town. They've
started, some of them have started saying that
outsiders don't belong and that we should move
along to another city and putting
pressure on us, but not just to us guardians,
to pretty much anybody that doesn't,
isn't from Savona, so.
Okay. It seems to be a bit of a
little riff going on there, but nothing
too bad. Seems to be a running theme across
most of Savona at this point.
Yeah, the problem is this, the people here
were hard workers back during the war.
I mean, I was stationed out here for a while,
and they were a loyal lot, hard workers,
but they made this land.
They made it successful, and, well, you know,
over the years, over the, what, centuries now, I guess,
they've kind of come to see it as theirs,
and they don't like people coming in
and taking what they think they've worked hard for, so.
Hmm. Well, we're in a habit of proving people wrong. Ah taking what they think they've worked hard for so. Hmm. Well we're
in a habit of proving people wrong. Ah
great! Well that's what I like to hear.
Someone do that?
Sure. Don't get me wrong.
You're not gonna get into a load of trouble.
Kaylee's rest's a big place. We've managed to
get by just there fine so.
Nice. Anything else you
guys want to know? I have a question.
Of course! Um
have you heard of the Prime?
Tracker looks at you really curiously.
I mean, I want to insight check the language he says.
Scout is just like, he's just like, Prime?
Nah, I've not heard of that.
Tracker's like, what are you talking about something like that for?
And that's, well, I mean, I've heard the stories,
but that's a myth, right?
Well, I had this strange vision,
and I was told to find it.
Is it real? Does it exist?
Tracker waits.
There's a beat as he looks at you,
and then he's just like,
ah, it's just an old story, kid.
You know, it's what they used to tell us. I think it's a way
to give us guardians a
peace of mind, you know. Something to believe in
when we're turning feral, that's all.
Who is the Prime?
I don't think the Prime is anybody.
I think it's just an idea.
It's just an old story. Don't trouble
yourself worrying about stuff like that.
Don't get your hopes up.
I very much believe in
it myself. I, uh... No, really,
kid? What do you know about the Prime, huh?
Well, I touched Echo
and I saw it myself.
It's like he stops in his tracks
as you're making your way down this dirt track, and he's
kind of got the wagon under his arms and he's
pulling it, seemingly not getting tired.
Valor and Arvel do get off, so he's not pulling them as well.
He stops.
You've seen it?
Yes.
The golden wings?
Yeah.
Quite beautiful.
That's all right.
Maybe I should talk to you guys later, but...
I mean, I've had that dream, but...
Well, I thought it was part of
you know, switching
off. Oh, you've had it too?
Yeah. It's not
the same, but I've seen the one
with the gold wings. I've heard the same
message, find the prime. What was your
version like? Uh, it was
different. It was back when I was with
the unit, the other trackers and me.
We got caught in an ambush.
It was a time when I was pretty close
to getting wrecked and destroyed myself.
I managed to survive
and some of the others didn't, but in this
time, as everything was happening,
the whole war just
stopped. The battles,
the explosions, the magic,
it all just came to a standstill except me. And out of the explosions, the magic, it all just came to a standstill
except me. And out
of the heavens, this golden
guardian descends with these wings
and told me,
tracker, find the prime.
I just thought it was part of going
crazy, you know? But if you've
both had it, and an organic?
Well, I saw the memories
of what, uh, the memories of what the country
saw. Oh.
Still, pretty weird.
Very real. Felt real.
Well, I mean, I've always
heard the stories. I mean, the Prime's supposed to
be this figure. Saves guardians.
Stops us.
Takes who we are and protects us when we go
Pharaoh, but I just
didn't believe in it.
Well, you are. You are 15, and you haven't given me any signs of...
Oh, no, I've had the signs, kid.
Some days it's easier than others.
Some days it's like one minute I'll be there, the next minute the guys are telling me it's been four or five hours,
and I don't remember a damn thing
it's just like when I was shut off
they just say that it just stops
I don't know
some days it's better than others I guess
I've kind of accepted it though kid
don't worry about me this is what we're built for
this is what happens as long as I can
do what I want until then
hey that's fine by me
anyway enough talking about this.
So what brings you to Kaylie's Rest?
Why are you guys coming here?
You must have plans or things you want.
Well, I mean, I'm not sure you saw what was in the wagon,
but it's not a good reason we're coming down here.
Ah, I've got to, what, bury it?
Well, yes.
I suppose uh
Sana will be
departing from
our group
when we reach
Kaylee's rest
but
we're
she kind of
turns around
and Sana's
now holding
Estelle
who
throughout that
whole Wyvern fight
not a peep
or a reaction
just sat there
just waiting
cold eyes
okay
um and she's
kind of like
Sana's kind of like
carrying her
and she's like
yeah I'm gonna have to make my ways off
Pretty soon as soon as we get in the gates
I've got to take this one back to my mom
Yeah, um
But no, we're just making our way to Cady's Rest
In hopes to eventually get to Gold Terrain
Oh, it's the big city, right?
Up to the north
I've not gone that way myself yet, but
I've heard about it, lots of trade comes through
Nice Oh, well, if you're just passing through I've gone that way myself yet, but I've heard about it. Lots of trade comes through.
Nice.
Well, if you're just passing through, Kaylie's Rest is a pretty good place to do it.
Lots to see, lots of nice places to visit.
The Queen's Plaza is really nice.
I sometimes go up there.
It's nice to kind of be amongst the gardens and stuff like that.
Okay.
Nice.
What about yourself?
Ayla, was it?
Hmm.
Any plans in Kaylie's rest?
Nope I don't think there's anything there for me
But just traveling with these guys
You non-guardians
A strange bunch
Don't you have something you've got to achieve
Something you're working towards
Goldthrone
So then we can find a skyship
And go elsewhere.
Oh, where'd you want to go after
then? I thought you said you weren't getting on
no plane. I don't want
to. What's a plane? But
need to go at some point. So where
are you heading if once you get on the skyship?
Somewhere that has a library.
Gustaven.
Well, there is.
Arvel did mention that the Temple of Hesper has...
A library.
A library.
No, no, it won't happen.
No, I said it was the closest thing they have to a library.
Don't begin your hopes up.
Well, if we go to Caeli's Rest, it's worth a try.
Sure.
I'm heading there.
Nova's heading there.
You want to head to the Temple of Hesper?
Yes.
Good luck.
What would you mean?
Just the, what do they call him?
The Dean?
He's a funny fella.
I like him.
The Dean of the Temple of...
Yep.
Funny.
Crazy funny.
Crazy funny.
Yep.
Makes me laugh.
Like, ha-ha laugh?
Yep. Or, oh no laugh? Ha ha laugh or Oh no laugh
A little of both
Okay
So are you saying we're not going to be able to get in or
I don't know, maybe
He likes us better
He likes us well enough, lets us come in and read sometimes
But I tell you what
Some people he really don't like
Arakokra?
Not that I can tell, he's not, what do you call him, racist Uh huh times but I tell you what some people you really don't like Aarakocra not that
I can tell he's not what do you call him racist uh-huh he doesn't like idiots
what really the fight no what about you kid hi what yeah what about you what was
the question why are you going to Kayleigh's Rest?
Ah, libraries.
Wow, you're a bookish bunch, huh?
I like books and I hold up my book bag
and like all my scrolls and stuff.
Do you like books?
Nope.
Okay, I have also, I have loads of questions for you.
Can I draw you?
Can I draw you?
And I point at both of them.
Scott's like, yeah, sure.
And then he's like, you want me to pose?
And he like makes like a really heroic looking pose.
I'm gonna start like sketching already.
So he stops in the middle of
the road as everybody else is walking
and then you start sketching and he's like we gotta
catch up and then he runs and then he takes the same pose
again.
He's like and you're constantly like
track is like
ah look at that.
Good to see the kid making friends.
I'm just going to be bombarding him with questions as well.
Scout is as excited to answer your questions as you are to answer them.
What do you ask him?
Just everything about like, you know,
his activation and what his kind of purpose is.
Oh, I'm a scout.
My job is to find stuff and then tell others where it is.
And then sometimes it's kill something out in the dark.
And then sometimes it's, you know, go and spy on the enemy.
And I used to do that all the time. I'd sneak up and we'd be like, oh, there's enemies here and here and here.
And I'd draw a map and then we'd come scootling back and then I'd tell everybody.
And then we'd go in a second and we'd have a night attack and I'd like break into their tents and we'd be killing starving soldiers.
And then I'd shoot them from across the way.
It was great.
Awesome.
I'm literally furiously trying to write everything down
while I'm sketching them as well.
And I guess just the same with, you know,
He's like, hey, check out my bow arm.
Look at this.
Oh, my God.
You always had that.
Yeah, that's what I was built with.
Yeah.
And just, yeah, just the same sort of, I guess,
like just trying to get his history and like where he fits
and any kind of like lore.
So to break it down in a more thing,
he is much younger than the other ones,
so he doesn't have a lot of memories.
The only thing he really remembers is being built,
and he was built on probably on,
he was probably built on Gisela,
what is now known as Gisela.
He calls it something different.
But with a map, he kind of says, like, yeah, I heard that they called it this, and he changes it.
And he was built there, and as soon as he was built, they literally, like, were, like, packed him onto a little wagon.
They sent him to a battle, and then that's all he's ever known is, like, various battles where he would be told to go off and scout enemy lines and troop movements and stuff like that.
And that's all he knew.
And he was only in the war for like three years.
And then the Siaska fell.
He remembers that.
He remembers a lot of turmoil.
He remembers the Sundering.
And then that's it.
He doesn't remember it until he woke up like a couple of years ago.
So he's only like five.
He's like a wee bab.
A wee bab.
A guardian bab.
A guardian bab. So yeah. So you're talking He's like a wee bab. A wee bab. A wee bab. A wee bab.
So yeah.
So you're talking to him about that.
Yeah.
Anything else along the way?
Do any of the wild elves have tartan in Kaylee's dress?
I don't know.
What's tartan?
This.
I'll show him my piece of tartan.
I mean, I've seen wild elves with different clothes and stuff, but nothing like that.
Seen a few wild elves around.
There used to be a few more, but I think they must have gone somewhere else or something.
I've not seen them in a while.
It's kind of hard.
Like, we just kind of keep to ourselves.
I don't know all the ins and outs.
You're probably better off asking people in the town.
There's plenty of temples and shops and places to see.
There's also the council buildings in Queens Plaza, if you want to speak to
anybody more of an authoritative
mayor. He's an alright guy. He gave us
our little house, so...
Yeah.
You said you were going back to the
field warden once you reached Katie's Rest.
Would you mind if we
joined you? Sure.
If you want to. To give our account of
what we saw on the road as well. I mean, you don't
have to. I mean, sure, if you want to. I'm sure
Malika will be happy
with my report. I've been working with her for a while now,
so. Okay.
We're doing a whistle-stop
tour of every Harvest Guard at this point.
Sure. Alright.
Well, here we are.
And obviously you've been talking as the journey's going on.
You can see, kind of, on the road in front of you,
it's kind of built onto a hill.
So it's kind of got like a tiered kind of development to it.
Big stone walls with big fortifications.
And you can see three primary gates.
There is the gate on the road you're currently in.
There is a gate with a road leading to the east.
And then another one at the far end of gate with a road leading to the east and then
another one at the far end of the city which leads to the north towards gold throne and you can see
that it's kind of built onto one kind of gentle hill and then there is a kind of like bit in the
middle which is a little bit more elevated as well and it kind of gives these kind of beautiful views
of the savonin countryside around you can see the iron willed off to the west with the auric mountains and then
you can see uh the east coast of savona as well um and as you begin approaching there is a large
gate like a portcullis gate um and you can see that there are traders and market people coming
and going there there are guards you can see harvest guards with the orange uh red and yellow
kind of uniforms um all
with this kind of thing unlike rose hall they all look more like a professional military here they
have like tabards they have matching armor but you can still see little flavors where they've
been allowed to personalize things some of them have like little scraps of cloth or like fur
mantles some of them have got like um hats they're wearing like straw hats or stetson hats and chewing
on like long pieces of
straw or smoking they also seem to have a very eclectic bunch of weapons whilst their armor is
quite uniform their weapons are very individualized some of them seem to have taken things like
hand saws and turned them into axes some of them have taken things like farming sites and made them
into more military usable weapons instead of pole arms or
gaxes.
And so they've developed those. The guards
on the gate are kind of checking
the wagons as everybody comes and goes.
And you can see that there is
also with them, standing
inside the city but kind of stood
on like a little elevated wooden platform
is a man
in long white robes
emblazoned with this symbol.
This will be fun to describe for the podcast.
This will be fun to describe. So it is a armoured hand
facing palm outwards, surrounded
by flame. Okay. And he's
wearing this and it's like emblazoned onto his tabard.
There are two knights in full
plate armour with great swords stood beside him. As you approach, you can go, it's like emblazoned onto his tabard there are two knights in full plate armor with
great swords stood beside him um and as you approach uh you can guys can have that actually
you guys can hear him kind of preaching like and the lord of light blessed this land for our people
to prosper savon and land is good land it birthed the empires of Erois. It fed our
armies when Starbane attacked
and it is our people that have worked
these lands.
This is not a place for you, travelers.
By all means, stop here. We
welcome you with open arms, but leave
this land to us. This is
Pallador's land. We are Pallador's
children. And he's kind of preaching
and proselytizing
as you make your way through.
There is a
definite look as you guys enter.
And the
priest almost makes an overly... He's like,
Welcome, travelers! Come
enjoy Kaylee's rest.
But remember that this is our home.
Treat it as an honored
guest.
And there's kind of an imply of like, you know, you're welcome, but you're visiting.
That's the kind of impression that they're giving.
Like, you are visiting our house.
You treat our house with respect.
Guards kind of stop you.
There is a brief exchange of words.
Arvel speaks to them.
He hands over a piece of paper. they check the wagon and are like very sad
and then there's an exchange of things
Who's pulling the wagon?
The Guardian
He's been pulling it the whole time and he just doesn't seem to get tired
Sweet
Just love the horse
So he pulls that in
Santa, when you get inside the city
you can see that there is one long
street that leads up towards the main central plaza Uh, Santa, when you get inside the city, you can see that there is one long street, um,
that leads up towards the main central Plaza where they call it the Queens
Plaza,
which is like a central area.
Um,
you pull the wagon over Santa stops for a second.
And it's like,
well,
listen,
I don't want to keep you guys from everything you've got to do.
Um,
and also I think that this is probably going to be easier if I just go and
see Galen's wife by myself.
I'll take aelle with me.
I can take the body.
Well, it's been
good fighting with you all.
Thank you for your help as well.
I don't think I could have rescued
Estelle without you.
We couldn't have done it without you.
You guys are tough.
You could have done anything. You could do it without me, don't worry
Listen, if you ever need a mercenary
I'm available to hire
Let me finish up some business
I'm going to go home, I'm going to go visit the Iron Burrow
And maybe I'll come to Goldthrone
Find you there
That would be wonderful
Nice, and she kind of like gives you a nod
She goes around like, shakes hands
And she's like like gives you a nod she goes around like shakes hands and she's like
she like shakes it hand properly lady yeah i don't think i've ever been called that in my life
uh no she like pulls you're a big old squish yep she's she gives you a big squish because
you're small and she is big uh she kind of like picks you up off the ground yeah um and you can
feel like yeah like her uh i guess like most of her body is big. She kind of like picks you up off the ground. Yeah. And you can feel like, yeah, like her
I guess like most
of her body is like normal. It's not like furred or anything like
that, but she's obviously quite strong and she kind of lifts
you up on the ground. Her ears twitch like a little
bit, her little white ears. Give her a little kiss on the cheek as well
before she falls. Oh, okay. With that she's
just like, where was that the other night? And then
she puts you down. I think I was
dying. So was I.
Quill, she kind of
gives like a nod, holds her hand out.
Faking hand. Look after yourself.
Quill, like, try not
to get killed all the time. Yeah, hopefully
I'll see you in Goldthrone, but if not, you'll see
these guys. Please do.
You know, uh, yeah.
Get some armor or something, man.
Yeah, that's the next stop.
And then she comes to Aelin,
she's like, it's been cool fighting alongside you.
You too.
Take care.
Take care of these chumps.
And she kind of gestures to everybody else.
I'll try.
Century's fine.
Century can look after herself.
Century's definitely fine.
Cool, well, I might come find you in Goldthrone.
Maybe we can have that drink.
And then she's like, gives you a little tip of the hat.
And then she's like, okay, come on, Estelle.
She's like, very good, let's go.
Let's take father's body back. And then just then she's like okay come on Estelle and she's like very good let's go let's take father's body back and then just
you see Stella almost suppress
a shiver like
picks her up and a
horse is brought out by the guards to take the
wagon the rest of the way
and she gives you up
did we save her?
I don't know
she's alive though I guess that's a good thing.
I guess.
Lucius, you begin to hear the murmuring in your head,
the alive, but to what level?
To what extent?
Have I drained too much of her?
He stopped me before I could kill her.
Was he sympathetic?
Or simply acknowledge that the experiment failed?
I knew what you're trying to do here,
and it's okay, Nightfrost.
Using commas
instead of periods so that you can speak
more. That's very clever.
Yes.
Cleverness. Cleverness.
If only I'd been clever
like Tiangong.
Has Tiangong ever done
such a thing? Oh, he was the greatest
amongst us. One of the best. the greatest amongst us One of the best
They were one of the best
They were powerful
They were wise and cunning
They were just tricked
Tricked like all of us by Starbane
They were all tricked?
Yes, all
And of all absorbed people?
There was one, perhaps two
Equal in power to Tiangong. They were a
council. They were our leaders.
They told us it would be
fine. They told us that Starbane
would help us. Did he trick me?
Was I tricked? Betrayed?
And then it
goes quiet again. Yep.
Was that all in your head
or? Yeah, it was all in just Lucius'
head that time.
The city of cady's rest itself is extremely busy you can see that there are shops there are buildings all over
the place and they all kind of have like an eccentric uh style to them there's the architecture
doesn't really make sense there's no uniform style everything seems to just be built to function
and that varies quite wildly
so it creates a very ramshackle city.
One of the things that is placed is there are
notice boards
kind of on every major street and on each
notice board there is a map of the city
with some key features located.
It's mainly with just symbols.
There we go.
He loves a map.
So you can see there is
There's the south road
Can we get it in the middle?
Just put it on the map count
Smaller though
So there is a north road, a south road
And an east road
There is a walled off section of the city with something called
The, I can't remember what I called it
Flame light
Flame bright abbey
I wasn't sure if it was flame light Flame Light. Flame Bright Abbey. Flame Bright Abbey.
I wasn't sure if it was Flame Light or Flame Bright.
Oh, and that's with the symbol.
Yes, of Paladar.
Are these symbols the symbols of the gods?
Yes, so they are all the symbols of the gods.
In fact, very correct.
Ayla, you would probably most easily recognize
Atelicus, which is this one,
who is known as the Earth Warden
and is generally regarded as kind of a patron of wild elves. So what is that?
It's a spear tip with
stag antlers and then foliage around
it.
You, have you
seen Iconocloid Hesper before?
I feel like
Arakokra homelands would have it.
So Hesper's symbol is of an
open tone with an eye and four
wings.
Everybody would recognise Siaskaesper's symbol is of an open tone with an eye and four wings. Yeah, I'd have that one if you like. Everybody would recognise Siaska's symbol, which is of a half circle with stars above it.
Which you would all recognise.
Where do we go?
So they're on the maps, so they're like a type of specific buildings.
So this map is on a...
Another one you recognise, those of you who met the knight during the evening,
Calara, so that was his symbol that he had on his armour and shield.
That was the green lantern style.
It was, yeah, it's a lantern with a single star.
It was green lantern.
That was green.
Yes.
And that is of Calara, who is the goddess of death and the dying.
And they are...
Every god is on that temple. Some of the symbols you don't of death and the dying. Every god
is on that temple. Some of the symbols
you don't recognise because you've not...
All the ones that you know of.
There are symbols that you don't recognise
because they're probably gods that you've not interacted with, unless
anybody wants to make a religion check.
Yeah, fuck it.
It seems like something Nova would maybe have read up on about,
but we'll see. It's caught.
Okay, re-roll it then.
Nice.
17. 17, yeah. You know the other
three symbols as well. So this one
of the heart liar, this is of
Sayana. So this is actually who
Rosalina was a patron of.
She's the god. She's known as the Songheart.
She's goddess of
joy and life, of
trickery as well. She's kind of known as a bit of a prankster, good luck, stuff like that.
How did you make these, Mark?
Nina made these for me that I came up with the designs.
Oh, really cool.
This one, Nova.
Make the waves more angry.
I changed that.
So this one, Nova, this is of Zephia.
She is known as the Storm Chaser.
She's kind of a patron god of the orcs, but loves adventure,
loves sailing, treasure, battle.
Oh, so that's a cutlass and...
Cutlass and waves, yeah, a series of waves.
Known as very fickle
and probably the least good of all the star-born children.
She kind of is very much her own thing
and does what she wants.
And she has powers over storms and sea
and that sort of thing.
And then the last one you recognize,
this is of Valena,
who is the patron of the forge,
but she's also known as the forge mistress,
but also of life and healing,
nurturing,
all that kind of stuff as well.
Okay, so there you go.
Really cool.
All of these are the thing.
And they're all represented on the map itself,
so you know where their temples are.
Other buildings are not really
noted down, with the exception of, which I
didn't put it on the map because I didn't have a symbol for it,
is the main sort of administration
offices, the council offices, which
is all in the centre near the Queen's Plaza.
As is
the mausoleum of Queen Cayley,
which is at the very heart of the
city itself. Mausoleum of Queen Kayleigh, which is at the very heart of the city itself.
Mausoleum of Queen Kayleigh, okay.
And we're coming from the south road?
You are coming from the south road, yes.
So you pass by a long building which bears the symbol of Valena,
the Forge Mistress,
and that building appears to...
When you pass by it,
the Temple of Valena is a short, squat,
but lengthy building that stretches along the side
of the main street. Inside, behind tall
and thin glass windows, you see rows of
dozen wall benches with hard-working
artisans. Behind the artisans is
an indoor terrace where priests give out food
to impoverished-looking folk and
children. And that's the Temple of Valena.
Oh. Weren't we getting
something sent to the Temple of Valena?
Or was that in Goldthrone?
We were getting Goldthrone. The Wyvern Armor.
Yes. It was being sent to
Arvel's address in Goldthrone.
Dacer.
As you're making your way there, Tracker and Scout
accompany you. As you get,
as you're walking down South Street, Tracker turns around
and he's like, Scout,
why don't you go and just check in with the others,
let them know we're okay, I'll go deliver the report to Malika,
and I'll take our friends here around the city,
they can keep an eye on me if anything happens.
And Scout's like, only if you're sure, Tracker,
I don't want you going quiet on us again.
He's like, I'll be fine, Sentry will understand what's going on.
Yeah, go on, kid, go back and let the others know what's happening,
and then we'll come find you guys later.
He's like, all right, boss.
Nice to meet everybody.
Hope we see you later.
We will.
See you later.
Goodbye, Scout.
He waves with his crossbow hands.
Don't be careful with that thing.
That's fine.
I know what I'm doing.
Okay.
And he runs off.
I'm sure.
Tracker's like, that kid does not know what he's doing.
He's shot way too many people.
Okay, cool.
So where do you guys want to go?
I'll happily take you around.
I know the city pretty well.
Anywhere you need to go in particular?
Well, I mean, I guess it makes sense
at least for someone to go with you
to the Harvest Guard.
Ah, sure, yeah, no problem.
Where would she be?
Well, she'll either be at the council buildings up in the Queen's Plaza
Or maybe she might be down East Street near the Harvest Guard barracks themselves
Well, Queen's Plaza, centre of the city
Yeah, sure, it's a great place to see
Alright, come with me
You can make your way down to the Queen's Plaza quite easy
It takes you a little bit of time walking through the streets
And like I said, it's very eclectic, it's very busy it's very crowded. You do see
a pretty good mix of races as well
it is primarily humans
and dwarves that you see
many of them wear kind of simple
artisans gear or farmers
outfits. You do see a few who are
a little bit more well dressed, they seem to be a merchant
class which seems to be the highest class
in the kind of town. You don't see
like nobility, You don't see people
in full riches and carriages.
Dressed as well as Arval was
before this entire thing.
So Arval kind of blends in quite well.
Before he went there.
You see a mixture of half-elves,
you see a few other
races, kind of all scattered
around, really. Some of the stranger ones
that you see is you see a
couple of goliaths i'm looking far less intimidating than the last one you saw yeah um you see probably
a couple of ganassi um you probably see some earth ganassi to earth ganassi uh there are beast walkers
of all different types so the beast walkers are like sanna these some of them are more bestial
than others some of them are like sanna where they only have a couple of traits,
ranging from wolves and bears to rabbits to foxes,
all different kind of like ears and tails and fur and fangs, all sorts.
Okay.
Yeah, and it's all very varied.
Nice.
And no one is particularly acting untoward to anyone else?
Not yet.
Okay, not yet.
That's good.
That's good. so you make your way
through and as you arrive the you notice that there is an incline leading up to the queen's
plaza and when you reach it you see pretty pretty impressive sight before you a beautiful round
building of polished stone decorated with beautiful gardens of vibrant blue flowers
rests atop a small hill at the very heart of the city. Paths lead up to
the rounded mausoleum from gates, weaving through gardens and past statues of a graceful young woman
in flowing robes and carrying an open tome. And then the Queen's Plaza is built around that.
You can see that various buildings, these buildings look quite rich. They look quite well
maintained. You also see a very large not quite a cathedral but a very large
church to see asuka with her symbol blazed on it and it looks directly onto the memorial yeah i
mean actually looks directly onto it that has a large glass dome at the top of its uh of the
building um with like gold and silver um metal bars to kind of keep the glass in place.
And the glass looks up to the open sky so people can see the stars.
Tracker points out, he's like, well, that there is the mausoleum of Queen Kaylee.
She's kind of a big deal.
It's the whole reason the town was founded.
It's why it's called Kaylee's Rest.
I'm not much of one for history, but that's pretty much what I've picked up on. You got the temple to see Aska there, and then
here's the council offices.
And he points to a very elegant-looking building
to the side.
He steps in.
You can see there are a couple of harvest guards positioned
outside. Tracker steps up.
He's like, ah, Dylan, good
to see you. Is the Phil Wharton
in? He's like, yeah,
yeah, she is, Tracker. You need to
go and see her. You're okay? Where's your little fella?
And he's like, ah, I sent Scout back to the others.
I got picked up these fine folks
stopping by on the way to town
to help us out with a
fairy wyvern, would you believe?
No shit! A fairy wyvern!
I can't believe it! Well, you better
go and speak to Malika. Alright, yep,
that's what we're here for.
Hi. Hey, how you doing and speak to Malika. All right, yep, that's what we're here for. Hi.
Sorry, hey, how you doing?
Welcome to Kaylie's Rest.
Should give you the spiel.
Don't cause any trouble.
You won't have any trouble with us.
Okay.
All right?
It's good to know.
You're pretty sensible.
I mean, I could read out all the laws, but it's hard.
Just don't do nothing bad.
Well, Nova.
Huh?
Nothing bad.
All the laws, do you want to hear those?
I know how.
Probably don't have time.
Probably don't have time, sorry.
That's fine, well look, just don't do nothing bad.
Okay.
All right?
I warned you, now I warned you now.
We're not going to do anything bad.
All right.
Assuming the laws are basically the same as
everywhere else.
I guess so.
I've never been anywhere else.
Okay, well,
I guess we won't
accidentally...
Okay, fine.
We're good.
Cool!
Hey, you're a birdman!
Yes, I am.
You with the guild?
Sort of.
Cool!
Okay, then.
Nice!
Bye!
We'll go see Malika now.
Yep.
To give her...
It's that.
All right.
Sure.
Bye.
Okay.
Okay, thanks.
You guys make your way inside.
Jeez.
Yeah, you make your way inside.
When they say offices, really what it is is it's kind of a series of almost like tavern-like rooms
with long tables and chairs
uh with a few writing desks in between um and you can see that there are various people hard at work
most of them appear to be some sort of like tax counters they're like counting money like just
taking their time they're counting money and they're like writing in journals and ledgers and
noting down everything going on in the city there's a few people who are having meetings talking about various city affairs.
But you were brought to an office where a woman with her hair is silver,
not white, not blonde, but silver as her eyes.
And when she turns to talk at you, she kind of stands quite prim and proper.
She's wearing a very elegant Harvest Guard uniform.
The colors are a little bit muted and it's kind of much more military and professional and presentable.
And you can see hanging up on the wall behind her is an enormous spear.
And she kind of stands up.
Tracker, good to see you.
You've brought some strange folks to my office.
How can I help?
Oh, sorry, I thought Tracker was going to open on this one.
Well, I can do if you want.
Sure.
Well, Malika, these are some folks that I picked up along the way.
They helped me and Scout deal with a ferret wyvern.
I'm afraid the hunters you sent, they're gone.
We thought it was a razor
bear, went into its nest,
and this thing came out of nowhere, and it was huge.
The body's still out on the road.
It's a few hours out of town.
Me and Scout can take you to where your men
are as well, get their bodies back.
You can see how kind of stiff it is.
They just died.
Like that. Yep.
This thing breathed poison, claws,
it was bad.
It was exceptionally vicious.
And you all fought against this creature?
Yes, we saw the guardians run from the forest
with Wyvern in tow,
and we had no choice but to fight it.
All right.
We killed our horsey.
Hold on one second for me, please.
She goes to the door, closes it, so you're in the room with her.
She holds her hand.
Can you all make wisdom saving throws?
Oh, goody.
It's a zone of truth, isn't it?
17!
19.
Okay.
11.
10. 10? 6. 6. 17 19 11 10 6
So everybody who got below a 14 cannot tell a lie
I would like each of you to please tell me
Precisely what happened
Starting with you please
Are you lying?
No
Does anybody lie?
No
Don't try and exaggerate it.
I don't have a choice.
No, that's fine.
So the point is she asks everybody,
and then when all of your stories collaborate,
she's like,
I apologize for the momentary use of some magic,
but I needed to be sure.
Obviously a bunch of armed folks coming into town
and the report of death of my men,
I needed to be sure.
Well, certainly a great thank you for your service and to
Kaylee's rest. As there was
no bounty posted on the Wyvern, I'm
afraid that there is no money in it, but you have my
gratitude, certainly.
Well, we're not planning on resurrecting
it anytime soon. I didn't imagine you
were. Can I help you with something? You've
come here with Tracker, was it simply to
report on deeds, or? Well,
on one hand it
was to corroborate the story yes a wife is appreciated I was hope not that I
don't know not that I distrust tracker but I just wanted to be sure well we're
just being sure I was hoping there was a bounty as well but they hope if I had
known there was one I certainly would have posted it and we would have sent
some people out to deal with it make a persuasion check
for me Quill
persuasion 8
she doesn't say anything
else
well it's just
in Savona it seems like every time we go
to it seems like a habit of us meeting
the field warden so I feel like
it'd be best we make the first move this
time around rather than them coming to us
it's appreciated a stranger group
of strangers although not unwelcome
in Kayla's rest is always worth
a raised eyebrow
so I'm pleased I'm assuming you've met
my companions in other towns
yes ones in particular
Missy Steely Eye
in Ironwick
and Merrick Tallfellow.
Merrick is a very good friend,
and I'm assuming you parted on good terms.
Yep.
Good terms for us, yes.
Yep.
Good terms for you, and what does that imply?
We parted on good terms.
For you? Implying that people don't part parted on good terms. For you?
Implying that people don't part with you on good terms sometimes?
No, they almost always do.
Okay, that's true.
Zone of truth is still zoning, right?
It is still zoning, but he's not lying.
He's not lying.
Are you trying to make people suspicious of you?
No, the zone of truth is still going
She just kind of smirks a little bit
Well, welcome to Kaylee's Rest, I am Malika Dawnblest
I am the field warden here, placed in charge by the mayor
Unlike many of the other places you've visited, I am not the foremost authority here
I am simply the military
I do handle many day-to-day activities
But Kayid's Rest
is a big enough town to warrant having its mayor
who reports to the king in
Goldthrone. Oh, I see.
Well, we've made
a habit of finding ourselves
assisting in some way
in each place we go to. Are you asking
if I have any work for you?
In a roundabout way, yes.
Why are you asking for help?
Sorry?
Are we going to continue to be distracted from going to
Goldthrone? Well, true,
but just in case.
It might be something simple.
It seems that your group
is a little...
a disagreement on whether
I don't have any work
for you. There will be people within
Cady's Rest that I'm sure would love to any work for you. There will be people within Caelius Rest
that I'm sure would love to hire you for things.
I know that the priestess of the Temple of Calara
was asking for my help and I couldn't spare it.
You may wish to inquire with her.
But I myself do not have anything.
There may be individuals,
private individuals with problems.
But no, as far as I'm aware,
Caelius Rest is under no major issues.
There was a case of some missing girls,
but we've dispatched agents to investigate that.
I mean, was this...
Hey, we did that back in the other town.
Yeah.
I think she'll probably maybe see Nova open her mouth
and be like...
She does. And then she's like, let Nova open her mouth and be like... She does.
And then she lets Quill and Lucius, who are now talking.
And then we found the remnant ship and then we got Nightfrost,
which is what I've got now on my neck.
It seems we were pulled into that investigation somehow.
And?
And...
Dealt with.
It's fine.
The child is safe now.
Although more of a Although more of them.
One of them.
Estelle.
Estelle has been returned
to
Katie's rest.
She's currently on her way
back to her mother.
She goes over to her desk
takes out a
pencil
and writes something down
in a ledger.
I will go and
speak with the Sands family.
The father unfortunately passed.
Unfortunately passed.
The conditions of which were...
Died.
Yes, I gathered that. How?
Killed.
By?
Bad people.
All right.
I will inquire with the family.
I would recommend perhaps don't leave Kaylie's rest until I've given you my blessing.
Oh, my goodness.
I'm not going to cause you any trouble.
I'd just like to...
How do they put it in Goldthrone?
Cross my T's and dot my I's.
I'm not going to give you any trouble,
Wild Elf. I'm not like
the locals. Good.
Because
we're delightful. I'm sure you are.
At least she is, anyway.
We cause you no
problem. I won't cause you no problem.
I won't cause you any.
We have actually
solved a lot of
problems on the way
here.
Quite a lot.
Yeah.
And honestly I was
hoping for a little
less problem here
specifically like a
little rest.
Yeah we were
hoping.
Kaylee's rest is the
perfect place to get
it.
There are many fine
taverns.
You will be amongst
varied company. There are many entertainments.
If you're into this barbaric spell clash business, you can get yourself involved in that.
Which is very interesting.
I find it a little... it's a bit savage, isn't it?
Slashy.
It's a blood sport, it just... nobody gets hurt, well, few people get hurt.
How can it be a blood sport without it just, nobody gets hurt, well, few people get hurt. How can it be a blood sport without
that pain and bleeding?
Have you watched
any spell clash?
I've been fantasizing about it for days.
Perhaps you should go and watch a match.
I absolutely will. Good. I'm intrigued.
I'm homey savage all the time,
so I'm really quite intrigued.
There's a tournament being organized in Goldthrone,
and there are preliminaries.
A tournament? That sounds very sophisticated.
Yes.
Well, you can go and watch that.
There are performers.
There's a delightful Furbolg fellow at the Temple of Siana,
the Liar's Smile.
He's quite delightful.
I've listened to his music.
And there are many taverns and places for you to visit.
Wonderful.
And this is while we wait for your blessing?
It won't take long.
Let me speak with the Sands family. I will
inquire.
Talk to Stana.
The bounty hunter. Yes.
She was with us the entire time.
Goes back to her desk. Makes a note.
In very, very
precise looking handwriting.
She brushes her hair back. Well,
it seems that everything is in order here.
I thank you for your visit.
Welcome to Kaylee's Rest.
Can I speak to your paper people?
My paper people?
The people writing things.
About what?
I just want to see if there's been any entries
for my family's name here doing trades.
Oh, if you're looking for messages,
you'll need to head to the Messenger's Guild.
The Wayspire is just on the other side of the path.
Do airships touch down here?
I'm afraid no. The
last Sky City to pass was Gusthaven
several weeks ago now,
but the Messenger's Guild,
the Wayspire, will be able to send messages
if you need them. The Wayspire Guild.
Yes. Is your Arakoka friend not
a member? My apologies for assuming
you carry such similar
wares. I thought you might be a member.
Well, no.
We'll say no for now.
Also, I've just realised that we need to finish the stream.
Okay.
Because it's quite late.
I was wondering.
I didn't realise.
I thought you were just...
Nope.
So with that, we'll have to end things here, I think.
Yes.
Thank you so much to everybody who donated.
We will be back next week to continue on with
the rest
