See kraken.com slash legal slash ca dash pru dash disclaimer for info on Kraken's undertaking to register in Canada. Welcome back everybody to part two of Hyrule's Aroes.
You join us as our team are still engaged in their battle to disable the Fenrir as well
as fend off the creatures that are fighting outside it.
The Astral Dreadnought and an Astral Kraken.
Sensing an immediate threat,
Asiyaska had to leave them to go and help others in their fleet,
leaving them to deal with both the Kraken and the Astral Dreadnought.
Kelek Adkalar raised up the Spear of Oracles,
and from it summoned forth the spirit of Euhandrius,
the Tempest Dragon that sought out their help
and aided Quill in his quest to reclaim the Valley of Storms long, long ago.
And as such, we're joined by our friend Ravs,
who is playing the role of Johann or Slash,
who we're going to play once again.
You leave us as the battle outside the Fenrir is looking ropey.
Heals have taken place, but the Kraken is not as injured as it could be,
and it is very quickly dealing high amounts of damage
to the Stormchaser and its team.
We were just laughing at how one team is like,
oh my god, and we're going here, kitty, kitty, kitty.
Yes.
Meanwhile,
meanwhile,
inside the Fenrir, our infiltration team,
things are mixed
at the moment. It's great.
Still not entirely sure where to go.
They have begun to sort of unravel
the secrets of the ship.
They have encountered a displacer beast
seemingly free of its cage
and uncorrupted by Hadar in a storage room.
But Nova Vija has managed to locate what they believe, what she hopes to be some sort of records or research or data bank system or area.
And that is where they're heading now. But in doing so, has triggered a ship wide alarm.
a ship-wide alarm um so jumping back to the infiltration team as this alarm blares the displacer beast kind of like looks up kind of goes into a defensive hisses and just backs off into
the shadows like just almost like fleeing away from the door from all of you um hope is somewhat
sad like no um but you hear heavy footsteps echoing,
probably still a distance away,
but you can hear the sound of foes incoming.
One of these hatches leading from the storage chamber,
some sort of tunnel system,
a Jeffrey tube.
Yeah!
Which is used to transport goods around the Fenrir,
is opened.
What do you guys do?
Get in the jackey's tube.
Get in the tube.
Get in the tube?
Get in the tube.
Get in the tube.
When you make your way towards it...
Close the tube behind it.
Okay, well, brief seconds.
When you move up towards the tube,
there is a kind of faint glowing and a kind of disk of force
sort of lifts up into the air under your feet and begins to load itself
into this kind of big tunnel.
And you can feel that there is this magical force
pulling from inside it.
If you'd like to try and close it,
I'm going to need somebody, probably Ayla,
as you're the one who suggested it,
to make a, let's make this acrobatic,
to try and grab the thing quickly
before you are pulled along.
We're all going to need to hold on Because this is probably going to go fast
Unless you would like to have one of the NPCs
Do something specifically
Remember they have their various uses and tools
I think none of them are strong
17
It's acrobatics not athletics
17 is not going to be quite enough
Because this is moving very very quickly
If you would like
I can have Scout use one of his tools To try and do it he has got his grapple gun yes all right so
that'll be one of the use of scouts we do that yep yeah so one use of scouts ability he's going
to fire his little grapple gun it like latches so you try and grab it ala but the disc is pulled
away at the last second and quick thinking scout pulls this little grapple gun fires it latches on
and then with the force that pulls it shut behind you um as he then has to let go of his grapple gun that's gone now um but
he goes uh you are whisked along at great speed through the fenrir uh you travel what must be
hundreds of feet in a few seconds um and eventually the disc comes to a stop as it is almost you follow along you go up you go down you
go to the sides in these kind of erratic movements and eventually you are lowered down into a large
kind of circular room like a cylinder like a squat cylinder and you can see that all around
you there are these similar looking consoles all carved in runic magic magical crystal but you can see uh that all around you there are these similar looking consoles all
carved in runic magic magical crystal um but you can also see that there are strange devices
hanging from the ceilings um these almost look like cabling uh but woven of at first thought
like it takes you a second you're like what is that made out of um and then
nor fear uh with super you know very clear vision not quite as good as quills but pretty good uh
i think that's hair and you can see that it is coils of hair wrapped with magical crystal
with metal all intertwined to create like a cabling system. It all seems to go down.
The circular chamber you're in,
there is actually a lower section
with a huge giant stairway leading down.
There are maybe some other exits from this room,
but it does seem that everything is funneling down
to something below you.
So I guess, again, like,
trying to get Team Tiangong and Scout to help read some of these displays.
The runes up above? Okay. It will take some time, but they can do it.
I'm kind of intrigued by the hair cables. The alarm is still going off here, by the way.
I'm intrigued by the hair cables. Connection's a bit hairy.
Nice. What are you going to play through? You can send the npcs to do stuff as well are any of the cables can you touch them like are
they within touching reach oh i'd say if somebody gives you a boost yeah if a little hope kind of
boosted you up you could probably reach one they're kind of hanging from the main ceiling
and then they gather towards this kind of central chamber and then they lead down
but you could definitely lift up and like, you know,
touch one that's coming out of the ceiling, I'd say.
I just feel like Avatar style.
Actually, no, because the ceilings here would be like 20 feet tall.
So no, you would have to fly up.
Yeah.
I could yeet.
No.
No, I'm not going to yeet.
I mean, Nova can also levitate, but sure.
I just feel like I'm going to touch it
and it's going to absorb my face
and suddenly I can see the matrix or something like that.
I mean, that's your assumption.
Sure.
What would you like to do?
So I'll set Tiangong and Scout to start translating.
These symbols up here.
Yeah, okay.
So that's those two.
I actually kind of want to touch the cable.
I want to touch the weird cables.
So if Ayla can yote me.
20 feet to throw a person.
I mean, it's possible, but it's not easy.
A combo yote levitation.
If you use levitate, you can just do it.
I'll levitate.
You can just do it.
You don't need to be yeeted if you're going to levitate.
It's more fun to be yoted.
I mean, if you want to be yoted, you can be yote.
It's fun, though.
And Ayla's right there.
You can be yatted.
A little yote, just to get me going.
What is Ayla and Hope and Northy going to do?
Good question.
You do have the staircase leading down.
You also have some other exits from this room.
Yeah, I think just scouting out exits.
So Norfey is focused on that?
Yeah, and seeing if there's anything coming in our direction.
So keeping an eye out, finding...
Okay, in that case,
that's a couple of different tasks.
Norfear will scout the exits.
Hope is basically going to
basically be lookout
and, like, try and be aware of anything.
And then up to you
what you want to do.
Can I try and
go towards where the cables are going?
Yeah, down the stairs?
Yeah.
Yeah, sure.
All right.
So, a couple of different things here.
Norfear begins to move out.
As soon as she touches darkness, Norfe vanishes melts into the darkness uh that was would
have been with past without trace still up i think that she's currently at uh that would have been
29 plus 15 oh my god that's like 43 yeah oh my god she's's never been this old. Does she exist? Incredible.
Hope basically trots
a little canter up to one of the doors and she's
poking her head around like, listening,
hello. Scout and Tiangong
begin analysing it and they're kind of having a little
nattering conversation as they're kind of analysing these
wall things. You levitate
up, Nova, to these
hanging braided
braided coils.
The hair is beautiful. Now you see it it you thought it was maybe like golden wire now you can see it's this beautiful golden hair
like completely untouched by hadar or anything like that mixed in with metal like worked very
fine silver and electrum and platinum and then crystal as well. Almost like jewels embedded into it all.
And you want to touch it?
Whole of this side of the table
is nodding their head.
It's just a question like, and you want to touch that?
Yeah.
And set off more alarms?
First things first.
Like you make an intelligent saving throw for you.
Oh, yeah, baby!
A good one, right?
Part of the ship, part of the crew.
Thomas has given me his...
I primed it.
All right.
Roll it and let's see.
It goes once for four.
That's...
13.
Perfectly average.
13.
It's a double digit.
That's true. You're going to's a double digit. That's true.
You're going to take 16 psychic damage.
As your mind, as you touch it,
immediately so much noise and images flood your mind.
And you get, like, you see screenshots.
It's like something blinking,
like a thousand different movies playing in your head at once.
Sweet.
And you catch maybe glimpses of one or two, blinking like a like a move a thousand different movies playing in your head at once um and you
catch maybe glimpses of one or two and you think you recognize other what must be other parts of
the fenrir like you can see a unit of giants with like magic weapons and and things and swords and
axes and bows and crossbows marching in columns all hadar corrupted in a purposeful way a red
light flashing on behind them you see another part of the ship which just looks completely broken and uh decrepit and and like it's been damaged
and damaged and fall apart you also hear voices you hear all like different voices in all of these
different tongues speaking a language you don't understand um just thousands of them at once and
it's enough like you quickly let go just from the shock of it. Like, you could hold on,
but again, you would need to make that thing.
But, like, from that brief touch, you're like,
ugh!
Like, it's like information is being passed down these cables.
It's just whether or not...
I have a thought of, like, trying again,
but maybe trying to input the command shields down.
Mm-hmm.
Like, if we could...
Yeah, no idea if we control it.
Can I communicate with tiangong and
ask the giant word for um shields down uh tiangong will tell you um it has been some time like i said
this dialect here is different to what i the giants that i have met they it is different but in
mine it would have been,
he'll tell you, I'm not going to do it
because you know me, I'm terrible at making it up.
They, sorry.
They will tell you a phrase that would be that in giant.
I am so not immersed right now.
I need the word.
What's the one I always say?
That's how you did this, you got Garak.
That's for us.
There you go.
That's for us.
So it's probably not going to work,
but I'm going to try because of the desperation of the situation.
I will touch the cables again.
Intelligent save throw.
And try and make the Vass for rack for 19.
Plus three.
You are.
You're able to kind of resist.
Like, it doesn't quite, you're more prepared for it.
You maybe catch a couple of other flashes,
but it's still so hard to process
at all. And you
think those phrases
make a
just roll
d20 plus charisma.
9, 10, 11,
12, 13. You hear a giant, a kind of deep masculine giant's voice.
Dork or not dork.
You just hear this like, almost like a denial.
Meanwhile, Hela, you are making your way downstairs.
You see like Nova float up.
Ow!
You kind of make your way downstairs,
and kind of coiling around,
you couldn't really see it from the top,
because the top of this thing is almost like a platform itself.
As you make your way down,
you see an enormous container,
like a tube, a glass crystal tube in the middle,
filled with a liquid,
and there is something inside it
and the cables are attached to this chamber
oh shit it's the big one
fucking Jenova
Jenova
Jenova
Jenova
too busy being
frazzled
is this telepathic
I'm touching into the matrix.
No, no, no, no, no, no.
Would I know, or am I matrixing it?
Yeah, I think whilst you're holding on to it,
there's too much noise.
You don't hear the thought.
What'd you do, Ayla?
You can almost see, like, a pulsing glow.
There is something glowing,
or maybe the light's shifting
because something's moving inside it,
but, like, there is there is like a dull glow
and it is kind of reflections.
All the cables, yeah. They're all going into that.
They're into like the top of it.
It's nasty.
How big is
the... Big. Yeah.
Big. It's like 20 feet. And there's
a floor below it. Is there
anyone else on that floor? Can I have a
scout and see if I can see anyone?
I think that you would need to scout.
Like, you see there are bodies.
There aren't people, but there are bodies.
Right.
There are the desiccated kind of skeletons, and they look old.
These must be, like, hundreds, maybe even older than that.
But there's some element of preservation that's gone on here,
because if these things have been 1,000 years old,
they've remained intact enough
but you see skeletons of giants um strangely like richly clad giants you can see the elements of
almost like long coats um but very well kept and well maintained you do see weapons and things like
that around them as well um you also see uh bodies of mind flayers which you have encountered before
you've encountered illithids before um You see other creatures like Illithids
but mutated Hadar corrupted versions of them.
And you see that there is a bloody,
a bloodbath happened here.
Fighting over what, and it looks like,
I'd say to Aayla being a trained warrior and hunter,
it looks like the giants were defending
the thing in the middle
and the others were on the outside attacking inwards.
And it looks like there was a battle
to defend
whatever was in that container.
Interesting.
Okay.
I will go back up,
ask for a report from Hope and I guess Northere.
Sure, you make your way back up.
Hope will turn around and say like,
nothing yet, but the footsteps are getting louder.
Whatever we're doing here, we need to do it quick.
Northeer will say, there's a few other exits,
there's corridors, and I think some stairs
leading up to another floor.
We could probably make our way to another area,
but I couldn't go too far.
I didn't want to separate too much.
We need to be here.
This is where we need to be.
All right.
Down there, there's a giant tank.
There's something in it.
I think that's what's controlling this whole ship.
Okay.
Do you want, should we get Nova?
She's up there still.
Nova.
Is she done now?
Yeah, I'd say at this point,
like, you kind of have that, like, denial command.
Nova, Nova, Nova, Nova.
I'll come back down.
Giant tank.
I think whatever's in it isn't controlling the ship.
The hair leads to the tank.
Scout and Tiangong will come over. In our estimation, what we can determine from these
glyphs, we do think that this seems to be some sort of knowledge repository. A library
of sorts, but unusual. We keep seeing one word. We're not sure if this is a name or
perhaps a phrase that doesn't have
a direct translation. What was it,
Scout? There's something here
called Mimir? We don't
know what that is. Mimir.
Can I do
a
history check?
I'm going to say there is no point. There is no
way Nova could, there's just no way
you could know what this is. That's fine.
I'd say if, yeah, Tiangong doesn't know what it is, then.
Tiangong will even say, like,
my contact with the giants was limited.
Tassadar and the others spoke more with the giants than I did.
They were defending this, whatever it was.
There was a battle here.
They defended this tank.
But I don't know what that means.
Are they protecting their lore
and their brain thing that's in there,
or is that a way to control things?
If the giants died to defend this tank...
You hear Hope...
Destroy the tank.
You hear Hope scream.
I think they're coming!
I can see some lights.
I can try and hold them off as long as I can,
but whatever you're going to do, do it quick.
Ayla, smash.
Okay, I will smash the tank.
Hope is going to conjure a wall of thorns
to try and basically block this thing,
but you can even see down the far end of this corridor
that she's facing, you see silhouettes
and just these silent, hulking forms
making their way lots of them.
Ayla, are you going to head down to break it,
or are you going to break it from up top?
Can I reach it from up top?
Yeah, it's kind of got like an armoured plate on the top.
You would have to at least go partially down.
You'd have to be able to look inside it
to get a good swing.
Sorry, how big?
I'm guessing it's big.
It's massive.
It's like 20 foot across.
And like, how big is a pass guessing it's big. It's massive, it's like 20 foot across. And like pass, how big is a pass ball?
It's probably not as big.
Are you gonna try and get in? Seems to be made of glass.
No, I was thinking it's probably not gonna work
because pass ball is 30 foot range.
You can choose the dimensions up to five foot wide,
eight foot tall, 20 foot deep.
So that's probably not big enough.
I was thinking of basically creating a hole
at the bottom of where the tank is,
and then so it just drops.
Yeah, Passwall would not be able to do that.
You could create a hole in the tank,
but you wouldn't be able to create a hole underneath it
to make the whole thing drop out, no.
Blast it.
We're just gonna give it all we got.
It does look like the glass is incredibly thick, yeah.
Incredibly thick, yeah.
Okay, I will use one of the charges on my hammer
and float so that I'm halfway between.
So you're gonna kind of jump down halfway.
Sure. Start taking it. Rage and gonna kind of like jump down halfway. Sure.
Rage and then start taking some swings. Start taking some swings.
So the first thing is as you get about halfway down
and you finally kind of look into this tank,
you see what is in there.
Like actually getting a proper look into it.
It is a giant's head severed at the neck
but attached with all these kind of like cablings into it,
floating in this suspended fluid,
and it turns and looks at you,
and in giant world speaks, it says something in giant.
Didgorth Rothmartnor.
Don't understand you. Alfheim.
Identity. Oh.
Skal.
And then it speaks elvish.
Identified.
Alfheim Elf.
Freya variant.
Why are you aboard the Fenrir?
I need you to drop the shields.
You are not authorized to give commands to the Mimir.
What is your purpose aboard the Fenrir?
The ship has been compromised.
You must escape now.
It has been corrupted.
No, it hasn't. It's under new ownership. I identify numerous Hadar signals aboard the
Fenrir. The ship has been corrupted. Yes, it has been. And you must drop the shields.
You do not have authorization to afford them any more. I don't, but I'm not on Hadar's
side. Look at me, I'm not corrupted.
I'll find Varian Freya makes a compelling argument.
Make a...
Oh no.
No!
No!
Persuasion.
No!
Freya, Varian.
What is your persuasion?
Not great.
It's zero, it's zero. Oh, okay. Let's see what you roll. Um. Susie said, let me do it. Zero, zero.
Oh, okay.
Let's see what you roll.
14.
14.
No.
That's it.
Well, it's good.
You have to drop the shields.
Or you will lose.
I identify several other life forms.
They're with me.
We are fighting Hadar.
I identify that the Hadar-controlled species
are currently operating the main ship's weaponry and cannons.
Get them to stop.
They're killing every other race that's outside.
Calculating.
My control of many of the ship's systems has been limited.
I do not have full access to the ship's systems has been limited. I do not have full access
to the ship's barriers or weapons,
but I would potentially be able to assist
Freya-identified Alfheim elf.
Please, anything you can do.
Beep, beep, beep.
And he kind of like sits there
and it blinks its eyes.
Beep, beep, beep, beep.
The head blinks its eyes a few times
and then it will look at you,
and you begin to feel a presence trying to get into your mind.
Do not resist.
I don't think I even could. I'm too dumb.
Let's be honest.
In your mind, Ayla, a map of the Fenrir begins to take shape.
Oh, shit!
You begin to see a pathway being illuminated by this Mimir
as it illuminates a pathway not too far from here
down into what you now come to understand.
And suddenly all these giant runes, you can read them.
You can now speak giant.
And you begin to understand all of these systems
and it leads you down into,
and what Scout and Tiangong mistranslated as nourishment
is power.
Power.
And that is the engineering department.
Okay.
Mimir is like, Mimir will say to you,
I will open the way to the engineering department
and I will seal the bulkheads behind you,
but you do not have long.
Multiple Hadar-based organisms are en route to this location.
Thank you.
Destroy this ship.
Do not allow Hadar to infect greater parts of the galaxy.
We'll try our very best.
Thank you.
Okay, team, go.
All right.
He's holding them off.
Yeah, I think, yeah, we'll go.
All right. Go, go, go. As we go, I'll be like. Yeah, I think, yeah, we'll go. All right.
Go, go, go.
As we go, I'll be like, Nova, he's in my head.
I've got a map.
That's really useful.
I can speak giant now.
That's really useful.
It's very useful.
I'm very jealous.
I'm kind of freaked out.
I wish I could speak giant.
I mean, I can teach you.
I can't teach you.
I'm a terrible teacher.
I saw rocks at people and they didn't learn.
The passageway that opens up is a narrow crawl space.
For you, for a giant,
a giant would never be able to fit down here,
but it almost looks like it's almost like a maintenance thing
that maybe like a construct or a smaller creature
would have been sent down.
Mimir opens it and you watch as this hatch
kind of like screws open as it kind of spins upwards
with telekinetic force and it opens.
Hope is, you can see giants hacking at these
walls of thorns and hope is like she's like panicking and freaking out and she's trying to
think of what to do but unable to use her drudic magic anymore before suddenly the doors these
metal balls slam shut uh blocking the path but you then see as a big fist that impacts into the metal and you begin to see heat
almost burning through it and you see fire giants completely corrupted by hadar pulling their way
through um the others will rush over to you as you guys descend into these tunnels and begin making
your way towards engineering and power uh meanwhile we jump back over to our Stormchaser team. Oh, damn, that was cool.
So, as you are fighting,
those of you who have a mental connection to Thalia,
hear Thalia.
Stormchaser, I've got a bit of a problem here.
I'm gonna need some help.
Me and Tassadar, we can't shake these ones behind us.
And you watch as the twin star Tassadar and the't shake these ones behind us um and you watch as the
twin star tassadar and the two vessels that are accompanying these astral starfighters
are being pursued by what looks like 60 smaller hadar like almost like little uh like uh
organisms kind of like uh beholders that have got like these long trailing kind of like wings
behind them and claws,
almost like these little vessels.
They're smaller than the astral starships,
but there's dozens of them.
There's 60, 70, 100 maybe of them.
And they're swarming, trying to get the twin star.
And they just can't shake them.
Every time they try and move,
they just get pulled away and everything else.
I've got it, Thalia.
Swing them by me.
All right. All right. We're coming your way. And they begin to make it away and everything else. I've got it, Thalia. Swing them by me. All right.
All right, we're coming your way.
And they begin to make it away.
Araya's like, Captain, do you need me to do an intercept course?
No.
Just line of sight for me.
All right, line of sight.
Do you need to get a certain range?
Within 60 feet.
Okay.
In that case, can Araya make a check? Can Howard make a check? Can Lookout make a check? within 60 feet. Okay.
In that case,
can Orion make a check?
Can Howard make a check?
Can Lookout make a check?
And can the crew please make a check as well from Ravs?
13 for Orion.
13 for Orion.
Oh, Howard.
19 for the crew.
19 for the crew.
Yes.
Finally.
Are you real?
Oh my God. Kind of makes sense for Howard.
I got one.
No, I got three, sorry.
Okay, one and three.
Partial success.
Half the crew did succeed, half did fail.
Oriah's going to be able to get you there close.
In doing so, it is going to prevent your Handrish
from being able to block the Kraken.
The Kraken is going to be able to attack the Stormchaser this round.
Fair enough, fair enough.
So we jump straight in with Danica.
Danica is going to focus
on the Kraken
now that she's finally able
to finally attack again.
She's going to do a fiery blast.
She does hit.
She doesn't have any healing.
Does she?
She has basically a self-heal
but only when she goes down.
Okay.
That is going to be
good damage.
17, 18, 19, 20.
22 points of fire damage.
Nice.
I thought I was gonna do that.
So you watch as she kind of unleashes a blast of fire
up at the kraken itself, trying to burn it away.
We then go to Johandrius.
Okay, let's get a little rolly here for her.
That lightning breath comes back.
Ooh, lightning breath's back.
Ooh, again, nice work.
And no blessing.
But lightning breath every turn, why not me?
All right.
Really cool.
Also, I mean, if you do want to do anything different,
like you can interact with your strength
and stuff like that, don't feel like,
I'm here to go, lightning breath every turn.
That's true.
No, I'm gonna save that this turn.
I'm gonna use another legendary resistance if I can to
Yeah, absolutely, yeah, sure. Absolutely.
I mean, it makes sense that you're another huge dragon.
The kraken is slightly bigger than you.
You are only a partial spirit, but I'd say you're able to break free with your lightning
powers.
All right.
I'm going to do my best to try to position myself again around.
I'm going to say this time, yeah, you can position, but you're not going to be able
to block the storm chaser just because of the crew.
Just to try to get a bit more in its face.
Yeah. You can definitely get in its face yeah yeah and i'll i'm just gonna
go bait some claws this time yeah i love it try to chew off some tentacles yeah i love it all right
so bite first attack dragon all right uh that is a 13 plus bite 26 26 is a hit okay let's roll the claws as well first that's a 25 25 hits nice nice nice
and that is a that's it
okay sure Okay, so 2d10 plus 7.
Where's my d10s?
This is my d10s, right?
Yep.
There's another one there.
Oh fuck, I fucked that.
This is a hard to read dice.
It's really hard to read.
Do you want different dice?
Yeah, I'll just use some different dice here.
Yeah, okay, let's do that again.
So that first one was a six.
Okay. And this is a...
What is that? Is that a one?
I don't know.
What is that? What is that?
Why is that one so hard to read?
Uh...
I can just add it up!
Seven...
14. 14 points.
Plus another d10 for lightning as well.
Oh, d10 lightning as well.
So it's 2d10 plus seven, then plus a d10 lightning.
Yeah.
Five.
All right.
Okay.
So the bite kind of sinks in, lightning crackles up and down the tentacle, probably biting
into one of the tendrils.
And then both of us, 2d6 plus seven.
That is a eight plus seven.
That's so hard to read.
I know, I know.
They look nice.
Yeah, they look very nice.
Eight plus seven.
And what's that?
Three, seven, 14.
Number 14. Yeah.
It's just like.
You see your hand just now tearing into the kraken physically, and it's now trying to
slap him with the tentacles.
You know, it's this real colossal battle between these two beasts.
No, not that kind of slapping.
Oh, okay.
That is me, I believe.
Yeah, if that is your full turn done, sir, we then drop down to, in fact, actually, no,
before we go to sentry, it's full turn done, sir. Yep. We then drop down to, in fact, actually, no, before we go to Sentry,
it's legendary action time, baby.
And with the storm chaser now vulnerable,
the kraken is going to unleash a lightning storm of its own.
Well, actually, no, this would technically be,
this would be like a radiant storm as it's an astral kraken.
So it is going to make,
it is going to fire three bolts of radiant astral light.
It can strike any target within 120 feet.
It is going to fire two at the storm chaser itself to try and break through its shields.
And then it's going to fire one at Yohandrius.
The shield is so low as it is.
Yep.
Yohandrius, that is going to be a 19.
A 19 does not hurt.
You spin out of the way, flying out of the side with your great wings.
That is gonna be a 23 to hit the Storm Chaser's hull,
which will, and then a 27 to hit Storm Chaser's hull,
which will.
That is gonna be 22 points of radiant damage
to the side shields.
Okay, so 10 gets through.
And then another 22, this time straight to the hull.
And that, my friends, unfortunately, is a mishap.
That is. So that's what? 32 damage to the actual...
It can be bad.
So sorry, was that minus 32 to the hull?
22, after the first 10 goes through.
So it's 33 total, but from the two attack.
So there's no shield anywhere.
No.
No, that's the shields, and then it goes through to the actual... So there's no shields anywhere. Is the storm chaser on 2 HP? No. No, that's the shields,
and then it goes through to the actual...
Okay, okay.
So there's no shields anywhere, right?
It's 9 on the front.
9 on the front.
They hit the side.
How much HP have you got then on the whole?
271 minus 22.
Oh.
Oh.
49.
249.
249.
Okay.
Okay.
And a mishap.
A really bad mishap.
Oh, no, it's a really bad mishap.
Oh god.
Are we Titanic-ing?
The radiant energy burns through
like a laser blast from another astral ship
and it strikes the engineering compartment.
Oh no!
I need Howard to make a dexterity check.
Oh no! Howard!
Go on, my boy.
He's dead. I should have have said anything. Not a two.
Two.
So, two things happen.
Firstly, the engine's core is overloaded.
At the start of every turn, oh, sorry, now, at the start of every turn, everybody is going
to take, I'm just going to use the flat damage actually, everybody on the storm chaser takes
ten points of damage.
And the ship gains one strain. If the ship gains seven strain the ship crashes is gone
the ship is done oh god the hole when it strikes the engine howard is knocked out of the storm
chaser oh as the whole, rips through the apartment,
Howard, who was in engineering,
is kind of thrown out,
and you see his body fly out into astral space.
Howard is not particularly tough.
With the damage from the engineering,
Howard unfortunately freezes in astral space.
Oh!
You might still be able to save him,
but he is unconscious.
Unconscious, okay.
I'm gonna give him a round.
He's brilliant, he's like a little hobbit.
He's perfect.
Best point.
He helped bring Nobita back to life.
You don't need to care about these guys.
He helped bring Nobita back to life.
Does he float by my attack opportunity range?
What?
Do you want?
Can I give him a little wing tap back on?
You could probably kill him.
I think so.
I think he's going to die.
At this point, any kind of harsh force will probably bite him out of the air.
I was going to shove him on my tail.
He's in my belly now, it's fine.
Unfortunately, with that legendary action concluded,
it is now Sentry, then Quill, then Lucius.
So Sentry, you're up.
We put him in there because we thought he'd be safe!
He didn't know anything was going on outside.
It was like a...
It was the roll.
There's a D20 roll, there's a table and stuff.
In some ways, it's the perfect one.
Like, you know, if shit happens.
Can I run down to engineering?
You absolutely can, yep. the way this shit happens. Can I run down to engineering? Um...
You absolutely can, yep. If I...
Do I have enough movement?
If I jump off the ship and then get Howard,
can I Misty Step back onto the ship?
I would say yes, but you will take the damage
from going into Astral Space.
Worth it.
All right, okay.
This man must be a really good cook.
Sentry just fucking runs down. He's precious.
He's gone through a lot.
There is a chunk of the storm chaser missing, and you can see the environment protection
is flickering as Zarya's enchantment, almost like it's broken and cracked, and you see
Howard's body just tightened up, shivering, floating away, getting further and further.
The storm chaser is moving at the same time, so we've got to imagine that this is happening
very, very quickly as everything happens um you see that there are a
couple of injured members of the wolf pack who don't look good taking damage the engines the two
elemental engines one of them is ruptured and fire is just coalescing across the like the engine room
is on fire it is burning at this point um and everything is blowing apart and you just leap out you take 25 cold damage instantly
um you grab uh howard's unconscious body and misty step back into the engine room
but i'd probably say that's probably going to be a dash that's going to be the full turn i think
that's going to be a dash down get to the edge teleport back that is going to be the full turn
yep all right holy shit meanwhile on the deck after centuries that is going to be the full turn yep all right holy shit meanwhile
on the deck after centuries i'm going to use the kraken's last legendary action we got max
danica protector lucius quill and your andreas up there right uh yeah
danica was the last person to attack, so it's going to technical attack Danica.
She is going to use her fiery shield. That's only a 19. She boosts her AC to a 20.
Okay, good.
I rolled a 2 to hit.
Nice.
She's going to do that, which also means that the Kraken takes 10 fire damage as she
kind of.
Well, that's good.
That's a reaction, right?
That is her reaction. That's basically her reaction. Done. Cool. We then go to Quill.
Uh, do I know what kind of, uh, what it would take to repair these engines?
Arcana check.
I am pretty arcanist.
Um, but also is the fire, like...
Uh, sorry, yes, don't forget at the start of your turn, Sentry, you would have taken 10 points of damage.
You also take 10 points of damage.
Oh, shit.
Okay, yeah.
So...
It's probably still worth trying.
Yeah, sorry.
The fire, though, in the engine room,
is that, like, going to...
Is it so bad that it's bad?
Yeah, it's spreading through the ship.
That's kind of representing the strain.
Like, that is going to increase every round.
And if that Kraken hits and causes another mishap,
that potentially may give you
another strain on the ship.
The Stormcheater is in bad shape
at this point.
Even if the hull isn't necessarily
as damaged as it could be,
it is getting worse.
Is that a fixable mishap?
Yes, it is fixable.
Okay.
Well, I want to go down to repair it,
which I presume is an action.
If I Shield of Faith myself, is that going to protect it all from fire?
It gives you the plus two AC, I'm afraid, but no, it's not fire resistance.
All right, in that case, yeah, I want to...
All right, you rush down there.
The two-injured wolf pack or the three-injured wolf pack, kind of like, Mr. Quill, and they
can come and help you.
But yeah, it's an Arcana check.
It will tell you the dc yeah uh it is dc uh dc on this one is 21 it's high
oh my god i have plus eight my portent my highest point is 12. so i you can't do it no i can't i'm
one low i'll say 20 12 plus eight oh yeah you'd be one low. Oh, yeah, fuck. So I don't have enough, so I have to roll it. Yeah.
In that case...
Roll well, then.
Oh, yeah.
Give me my god dice.
No, no, no, no.
I've probably touched it.
You have touched it, and I did see some bad roll.
Prime dice, take three.
Go.
Prime dice, take three.
No.
No!
I touched it.
Oh, it's a 17.
I was going to say, how much did you roll, and how much did you fail it by? Because that matters in this case. 17, I got. 17. I was going to say, how much did you roll
and how much did you fail it by?
Because that matters in this case.
17 I got.
17.
You don't make things worse.
This is more complex than you realize.
I don't make stuff worse because I go down
and I just sort of do this.
I don't touch anything.
You and the wall pack are trying to figure out
how to fix this and you're just like,
oh, we're not sure.
All right, that is going to be your full turn,
unfortunately, Quills.
Yeah.
Lucius, Lucius.
Thalia swings, and Thalia, Tassa, and the others
are coming this way,
bringing this swarm of enemies towards the Storm Chaser.
Oh, yeah, that as well.
I'm going to quaff my supreme potion.
Okay.
Quaffy, quaffy.
Yum, yum.
Oh, that's a hell of a heal.
Four, four, four. 25. 25? a hell of a heal. Four, four.
25.
25, you get 25 HP?
Plus.
Plus 20, so 45 HP.
Ooh!
Ooh, that tastes good.
Da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da.
Da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da.
Ah-ga-ga-ga-ga-ga-ga.
No one else has one more of these, right?
No, I think they're done now.
No, they're done.
So, as Thalia is flying past with her squad,
I want to hold my action until as many as these-
I'll say that it's gonna happen on your action,
like you can just do it now.
I'm gonna prismatic spray these fuckers.
Ooh!
It's what, 60-foot cone?
60-foot cone, eight multicolored rays flash from my hand.
Each ray is a different color and purpose.
Each creature in a 60-foot cone must make a deck saving throw
for each target roll of D8.
That's too many rolls.
You said there was 100 in there?
There's like 60, but they are kind of like,
they're not small, they're probably about medium or large size,
but you're going to hit enough of these things
probably to make a difference.
What I'd like you to do is,
I think these things do like 10d10 damage, right,
on their rays, their 10d6 types of rays.
Roll 10d6 for me.
I wanna be the one that gets petrified
and just drops like a stone.
There's gonna be a few of those.
I'm not gonna roll all these individually
because there's too many,
but I just wanna kind of get a general idea
of how much damage those.
They just stop.
No, they wouldn't even stop.
They would just keep going in the direction
they were going.
They would just, they would just BIM.
Mine rolled so bad, I'm sorry.
23.
23.
You damage those that are struck by the damaging rays
of the different force types. A couple of them are just banished from existence, a couple of them turn to stone.
You do kind of like the scattering, not a couple, this would be a fair few of them.
You do enough to get the pressure off Thalia and Tassadar and the fighting team.
Combined with like, they then almost take that moment as you just
this multi-colored ray of light just streaking across the side of the storm chaser
engulfs many of these smaller creatures.
Thalia and Tastar use that moment
to almost like barrel roll back
and just unleash a hail of fire.
Is it called?
Koi Grand.
A Koi Grand roll.
Yeah, I can't remember either,
but the X-Wing maneuver, yes.
Yeah, boy.
The Koi Grand turn or something.
Or in Star Fox terms, a barrel roll.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's a big turn.. Or in Star Fox terms, a barrel roll.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
It's a big turn.
But they turn around and just blast enough,
and enough to get enough off their back that they are now free again,
and they just hear a kind of like,
good one, Captain, nice light show.
And then the twin star flies past.
Our ship's on fire.
Get up with that, can't help much.
Tassadar will probably be,
I don't think you have Tassadar on mental communication.
No, we don't.
But Tassadar probably is sending a message to look at,
like, tell them to try if they unhook the biocoupling enchantment and attach the forward energy phasing enchantment.
Separate the saucer.
Yeah, basically.
I guess you'd also hear this, right?
Being in the...
I'd hear Thalia, but not Tassadar.
Tassadar's doing it on the system
where she forwards it
yeah
alright Lucius
Granger anything else
I think that was your
full turn basically
I've heard a section
supreme
oh you would have
heard the ship's on fire
yeah
yeah actually
no one would have
heard that
you would have heard
there's a big head
in the tank
yeah yeah
it's talking to us
let crack on
let crack on
yeah no
we're cracking on.
You broke free of the grapple, didn't you?
I broke free, yeah.
Astral Kraken, or in short, Ass Crack.
Quill.
Yeah.
He's already down in Engineering, hasn't he?
I'm down in Engineering. He's faced it there before.
I'm going to do one on Lucius, one on Sentry.
Down in Engineering.
Down in Engineering as well.
So it's just Lucius, Max, Protector, Danica, and Johandrius.
Yeah.
D4. Yeah.
Oh, I guess with a counter as well.
He can do that.
Uh, we'll do...
So this is going to be on Max.
Max is going to tank these.
Oh boy.
Good boy.
Well, the first one he's going to tank anyway.
It will hit him.
So he's going to take 20 points of damage,
but he takes that like a boss.
Thanks to his healing earlier as well.
He's barely untouched. The second one is going to go towards... Quiddyboy.
I'm in engineering. You're in engineering, sorry, Protector.
That is going to probably... You did heal Protector, so it's going to damage him, but
it's, again, he's looking pretty badly hurt. And then the last one is Protector again.
And it will hit him.
Oh no.
Putting him very, very close.
He was nearly done, but like that 20 damage each.
You watch as he's like crumpled down.
And I'd say that like, you know,
they're doing their job of like,
they are basically like all of the Wolf Pack
are still alive on the deck.
Danica hasn't taken much damage
because like Protector and Max are basically
just tanking these blows,
like running in
and trying to block them as best they can,
just absorbing this damage from this beast
if they do so.
Any parts of Max's armor breaking away?
No.
But I am going to say
that because they got attacked,
they are grappled.
So Max and Protector are pulled away,
but it means that they can finally attack back as well.
So they're going to actually make some attacks back.
Both are going to hit,
and they're gonna do 20 points of damage
between the two of them.
Nice.
The kraken at this stage is now beginning
to look pretty badly injured.
That blood with the red worms is just flowing out
of the kraken as well,
and the black icarus blood with these red worms
is flowing out, and Kraken as well. And the black Icarus blood with these red worms is flowing out and it is looking weakened.
But as we end the Storm Chasers round in space,
those of you on the Storm Chaser,
things are dire enough for you.
Looking up at your allies,
the Valkyrian fleet is being decimated.
The Fenrir's weapons, which have been firing this whole time,
like attacking your friendly ships,
they are not wiped out, but they are in bad shape.
Most of them are disabled or crashing.
They're being swarmed by these other ships.
Siaska is like desperately trying to fend off as many as she can.
And this is the point where unfortunately we have gone on long enough
where Kallus and the others cannot wait.
Now you might still have time to disable it
before they're able to fully destroy the Astoria or the Tassadar,
but you see pulling themselves out of,
sort of from, you know, almost warping in,
kind of coming in at high speeds,
you see the immense Astoria and the Tassadar
and hundreds of other ships
are now having to join the fight to reinforce what you've brought along.
Oh, boy.
Okay.
And you see the Fenrir's guns having to join the fight to reinforce what you've brought along. Oh boy. Okay.
And you see the Fenrir's guns turning towards the Tassadar and the Astoria. Now,
you might still have some time, but it is now in the later stages of all of this. So
infiltration team, we come to you.
Go, go, go, go, go!
I am going to make a quick roll.
We'd like to sit down for a cup of tea. Yeah. We come to you. Go, go, go, go, go. All right, I'm going to make a quick roll.
We'd like to sit down for a cup of tea.
Yeah.
And a chat about our feelings.
It's healthy, it's healthy.
Yeah, you should do that.
Maybe not right now.
Oh, I think now is perfect.
Now is good? Okay, go ahead then.
You begin making your way down,
and through the map that Mimir gave to Ayla,
you are able to work of work your way through
these maintenance corridors some of them are large some of them are small but they it's like a
labyrinth of these corridors and if it wasn't for this map given to you by Mimir you would be lost
hopelessly lost down here but you eventually come to a point making your way down where to you Ayla
basically the corridor um it looks like one corridor on the map,
but as you arrive, you realize it's kind of split
into three different kind of sub-compartments,
and it seems to be that you are almost,
you are very close to this engineering system.
And Nova, as Ayla maybe describes the map to you,
you begin to get the sense that kind of like the Storm Chaser,
this probably uses elemental power here fire and frost equally um combined in some way to power this immense ship
and you are now heading through a section of the ship which is directly connected to these power
systems and you see that one kind of part of this corridor is completely sealed off like there are
these thick heavy metal doors that kind of seal it off.
There is a side section,
which you can see allows somebody to pass through and reach the other end
where it looks like there might be some controls
and things like that.
It's hard to see.
It's quite long.
It's probably about 600, 700 feet long.
That space is roastingly hot.
Like you can see it glowing.
It is enshrouded in like in,
in magic to kind of keep the hate vented away. The other side is very similar, but it is
full of cold, um, and full of ice. And it looks like there are control systems built
in. Um, and knowing what you know of giants, there are frost and there are frost and fire
giants. They would be immune to this kind of environment. What do you guys do?
Well, I've got Arcane Gate,
but that was going to be our escape route.
We need an escape route.
I have Passwall.
I have Dimension Door.
I can Misty Step.
Misty Step's only going to get you so far, Nova.
How far does Dimension Door go? Quite far, and I can take one person with me. 500 foot.
Scout's like, I estimate that that's maybe 700 feet long, these corridors, they go down a ways.
It's better than taking 700 feet worth of whatever this is.
Would that get me to any sort of control?
No, looks like they're at the far end and this
is like nor feel like peering through scouts like telescopic vision um and can i choose like fire
side ice side because i maybe i have this suit on that helps with cold damage uh it helps with
environmental this is like straight up cold yeah this is yeah the resistance is only partial i mean
there will still be some effect um yeah i I mean, you might be able to choose.
You might have, there might, like,
you're not sure if those two, it leads to the same place.
Like, they might be two separate control systems down there.
Am I still, am I, like, still connected by mind to this?
No, no, it was like they've given you the information
to read giant and to analyze the map,
but it's not like a telepathic communication.
Is there any writing anywhere that would indicate what the switches are?
Yeah, they're basically like,
the blocked kind of corridor
is like an emergency maintenance access
for basically non-fire giants and frost giants.
The controls are like a door release.
One will unlock this door,
the other will unlock the other door.
It doesn't say which one is which.
So there's an emergency one.
There's like two controls.
You assume there are two doors on either side
of this central corridor that you need to get down.
And these are crawl spaces as well.
These are like tight, kind of narrow kind of spaces.
They're almost like, you're kind of almost going down
like vents more than necessarily
like an actual like walking space
And yeah
You just know that these controls are for this emergency hatch like basically opens each end one will open one end one will open the
other end
Hope will probably say like Nova but we need you to disable whatever is at the end, right?
Like you I don't know anything about this this stuff
Yeah, I just don't know anything about this stuff.
Yeah, I just don't know how to get there.
Scout says, I can probably resist the fire for a little bit.
Like, I'm mostly metal.
I can go down.
That's not the problem.
I can, I'll do it.
But there's two corridors and we need to...
Maybe if...
North is like, I mean, I can try as well.
I mean, I'm pretty quick.
Does anyone have any kind of resistances that...
I use my spell to get us here.
No other spells at all?
Nothing.
I've used all my limits of the protection from energy spell.
We just got to do it then.
I'm just going to have to tank it.
Well, that's one, but what about the other?
I mean, personally, I don't think we should send,
I think even if you've got magic,
what if you get trapped there and you can't get back?
I don't know what to do.
Sorry, I'm struggling personally. This is Kim's me. I'm struggling to just visualize the setup. Yeah. Imagine you've got a central corridor
that's blocked off both ends, right? Heavy, thick metal doors. Maybe you can get through them. Maybe
they can be lifted. Maybe they can be forced open. You don't know. On each side, there are these
small vent tunnels, one with fire, one with frost yeah at the far end of each there
appears to be some sort of control system within that area within that vent-like area so can i just
get through the door can i try and get through can i try it certainly can try yeah you can certainly
try we'll take yeah i mean it might take time but you can certainly pass pass wall on the door
you can pass one of them yeah do it one of them, yeah. Do it. One of the doors.
Yeah.
I'll pass wall one of the doors.
Okay.
So you kind of conjure the magic
and it carves out this square space
and this thick metal door does fully carve it through
and you do have this now one open space.
Looking down, there is an identical door at the far end.
Okay.
Run through and I will try everything that I can
to
Okay.
Hammer
Athletics check.
Well this
I mean
I mean hammering it
would
I mean a hammer itself
this would be like
opening it
ripping it open
it will be an athletics check
to try and force this door open.
Scrolls are one and done aren't they?
So that's
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Um
I will rage
to try and give you advantage
that's a natural one good luck for that advantage that's a 10 plus my athletics 23
it's not gonna be enough with all of your strength ayla like if you can't open this door nobody's
gonna be able to force this door open this is is like, you're talking tons, tons and tons of weight,
heavily sealed, enchanted with giant magic.
This is, I mean, this would have been nearly impossible.
This would have taken a god to break down.
Old doors.
Anything else that I can,
can I just keep trying to like hammer into it?
I'm gonna say that this is a,
like if you can't break it with your strength,
like, I mean, you can keep pulling and pulling,
but you're not going to get any stronger, right?
You're not going to physically get any stronger.
Maybe I'll do it.
Wait, if it's a strength-related check, can I make it 25?
You can make it 25.
Unfortunately, that's still not going to be enough.
This is an extremely high DC.
Probably nearly impossible to force this door open.
It could have been done. Like, it could have been done, but you've achieved feats of this door open. It could have been done.
Like, it could have been done.
But you've achieved feats of this strength before,
but the circumstances just, yeah.
Can we see beyond it if we can...
It's solid and like a bulkhead door.
Think of your classic sci-fi Star Wars door.
Can we see the vents with the...
Yeah, it's kind of like slightly clear.
Like the sides of this corridor
are like ever so slightly transparent
and you can see
this magical workings.
One is just like,
it's like an inferno
and then the other one
is like completely
frosted and frozen.
How far away are they now
that we're down
past the first door?
Then the controls?
Yeah.
Yeah, they're still,
they're beyond where the doors are.
They're like,
they're further down. Still beyond where the doors are. They're like, they're further down.
Still the same distance
further down.
Yeah, it's about 700 feet
from where you were originally.
The same.
So it's the same
from where we are now?
Not the same from where you are now,
but you're obviously
blocked off.
But if we can see the space,
I'm thinking.
No, you can't see it.
No, it's like,
it's kind of like
off to the,
like the door is blocked
in the field of view. I'm guessing, hmm. It's like, imagine like, you can't see it. No, it's like, it's kind of like off to the, like the door is blocking the field of view.
I'm guessing.
It's like, imagine like, you know,
those tunnels in the aquarium, right?
Where you go through like a tunnel
and you've got like the glass around you.
You can't see like past a certain point.
I'm trying to think if we can use a spell to get control.
Yeah, I mean, yeah.
You could certainly like probably get closer in.
To get closer.
But yeah, yeah, absolutely.
Like you could misty step in or something like that.
Sure.
So what was the distance
between the first door
and the second door?
I would say,
I would say that you've probably
got at least another sort of, like,
300 feet from where you currently are,
but you can't see
the exact space to get into.
You could go into here
and then you could literally
teleport from, like,
where you are now
into one of these vent spaces
and then you would have 300 feet to go rather than the full 700. um so i've got vortex warp but it teleports
another creature it says a creature yeah for what what does it do um it teleports a creature
30 feet basically how i was i was thinking can i affect the door with it? No.
You can put someone else in with only 300 feet of distance. Well, I've got Vortex Warp, Dimension Door.
Dimension Door is the better one because it goes further.
You have to see where you're going.
You have to see it.
Vortex Warp, it's the same again.
You have to see it.
All my spells are line of sight.
What's the plan, team?
The only thing we can do is tank the fucking damage then.
There's nothing else.
You teleport yourself from your current location
to any spot within range.
You arrive exactly at the spot desired.
It can be a place you see, one you can visualize,
or one you can describe by stating distance or direction,
such as 200 feet straight downwards.
That's Dimension Door.
I would say...
700 feet that way.
Yeah, there's a little risk to it,
because it's like, oh, we're going to go like,
you're halfway through,
you can't see it.
You're like,
I think it was about like,
you know,
a 90 degree angle at this
to 700 feet,
but you could do that.
Yeah, I'd say so.
So I can take myself
But keep in mind,
those doors weren't listed.
There's a 50-50 chance
that the bit you teleport to
is the door you pass walled.
So it's a 50-50% chance
which door you get. With my rolls. Fuck it, let's do it and tankalled. So it's a 50-50% chance which door you get.
With my rolls.
Fuck it, let's do it and tank it.
If it's wrong.
Can you get us back out quickly again if things go shit?
Not if you've only got one dimension.
If I do, I can't use Arcane Gate.
So there's Arcane Gate, but that's two charges.
I have three charges.
Okay, okay.
So I can if it's the worst.
Norfeel will probably say, as this debate is going on,
remember, we all knew the cost when we came here.
Yeah.
If we can't get out, but it means that Nova,
you have to get to this final area.
If you have to send one of us, send me, send Scout, send Hope.
Ideally, send me.
The Dimension Door, I have to take someone with me.
It has to be me.
What about this Vortex Warp?
You can send us a short distance, right?
It's short, though.
Yeah.
I can make that 300 feet.
I can run 300 feet.
I'll do it.
I'll be all right.
I'll do one.
Vortex Warp is only one person.
It's up to you. Send Aayla or send someone else.
But I don't think we can risk you.
Because you might need that Dimension Door for enough...
We still haven't got to this place. You might need it.
Or if we get the wrong door now, maybe we need it to get the other one.
Aayla or Norfair.
I have more hit points than Norfair,
but I don't know how long I'm going to have to be in there.
I think it might have to be Norfair.
It's Nova's choice.
Nova's the one casting the spell.
And she's just going to have to live with that.
I think I'll send Norfair.
Norfair will just nod.
Won't say anything.
You cast Vortex Warp.
Which side?
Do you want fire or frost?
Before she went,
does Norfear have a preference?
She would say... Does she still have cold...
Oh, no, it wouldn't.
Yeah, she would have, like,
she'd probably say,
send me on the cold side.
That's probably...
I've probably got a better chance with that.
Yep.
All right.
Okay. Shit. All right. Okay.
Shit.
The space around Norfyr warps,
and then she appears in this kind of tight kind of space,
and she kind of shivers for a moment,
and then the last thing you see of her,
because your vision is kind of blocked by this heavy bulk door,
you just see her sprint.
Time passes.
A few seconds.
A few more seconds.
I need Nova to roll a d6 for me.
This is the 50-50 chance.
On a one to three, it's the correct door you need.
On a four, five, six, it was the door you previously passed, Walt.
I'm sorry, Trump.
It's all right.
You're only killing someone really precious to me.
Yep.
Uh-oh. That precious to me. Yep.
Uh oh.
That's a six.
That's a six.
That's a six.
You hear a kachunk.
You watch as the door with the password on it slides open and you just hope like, no! After a few seconds, a very icy looking Norfea will walk back into vision range. You can
see her skin is turning blue. She just put her hand on the glass.
Tries to make her way to the exit, but about halfway just...
How far is she? How far in?
350.
The door remains closed.
Can I save her or is she gone?
A few seconds go past.
It's up to you.
You might have a few seconds to do it, maybe.
Needs to be now.
I have to go to the fire one.
We have to go.
Can we get her?
I can't do both. I have to go to the fire one. We have to go. Can we get her? I can't do both.
I have to open this door.
If you, any more talking
and that's gonna be another round, I'm afraid.
Oh, for fuck's sake.
I mean, you've got a few seconds here.
Yeah, I know.
Two people's control.
I would say Ayla, go.
I really want an arcane gate
and fucking get Norfair out.
But that's our ticket out of the ship.
We don't have a way out of the ship otherwise.
Well, the other thing is arcane,
I need to see,
I need to see
where I'm going.
So I don't know if I can arcane gate.
You can get Norfair's body,
but you can arcane gate to the other door.
Hope will just put her hands sort of like around you, sort of like hold you. So I don't know if I can arcane gate. You can get Norfas body, but you can arcane gate to the other door.
Hope will just put her hands sort of like around you, sort of like hold you.
Can you heal her?
I can if you can get her, but you don't have time.
I'm, I'm-
Nova. Gone.
Think about what's happening out there.
A lot of other people are dying too.
We have to go.
We have to go.
Dice really fucked us there.
It's 50-50, man.
I'm going up the fire.
Yeah, I mean, Ayla, this is going to take a ton of damage,
but you are Ayla.
This is going to be like 150 points of fire damage.
But you get there.
That's one way.
Oh, one way.
If you go the full 700, because I don't know if Nova can teleport you halfway again.
I can't get there and back again. I'll die.
I mean, if you're damaged
now, Hope can heal you now before
you go down there.
If she healed me to full, I'd get there and back. I'd say she can heal you now before you go down there. I would, if she healed me to full, I'd get there.
I'd say she can heal you to full.
If she heals me to full, I'd get there.
That'll take up all of her healing,
but she can heal you to full.
No, she has the heal spell.
She'll cast the heal spell on you
and she can get you to full, easy.
I have 288, so I'd need to get to 300
to be able to tank the whole thing.
Yeah, she can do that.
I'll do it.
It's the only way, so do that and then i'll be on 30 i mean also i say no you're not barbarian but uh yeah i mean you can just rage
and just pummel through this thing and just run you've also got faster movement as well
so i do have faster movement i have 45 feet per in that case maybe like maybe like 120 damage then
so one way.
So you reach the end, you find like these levers,
like you have like this heavy, big,
and it's a good job that you and Norfra are doing
because it does take some force to pull it down.
And you watch as the other door slides open.
And then Aayla, yeah, you just kind of burn back.
And Aayla comes back like skin charred
and things like that from the flames.
But you do make it back, but heavily, heavily injured.
So.
That'd be 121, 120 back.
Okay.
Yeah.
Is Hope healing me before I go?
Yes, she will.
Or is she gonna heal me after?
She can heal you, she'll do whichever one you want.
Wait until like I'll go, I'll do it,
so 240 damage, and then she can heal me.
And then you come back and she'll heal you for 70.
I can't get that much damage on one.
No, that's fine.
With that...
Well, I mean, if we're in a fight... So, because I want a couple of things here.
With that tough decision,
you are able to make it beyond this section.
And as you do, you find yourself in this engineering system.
There are giants, corrupted Hadar giants here,
but you can see a system, an alia,
you can read it that it is basically like a control system.
Do I know exactly what to do?
If you and Nova get there,
you can disable these barriers now.
Right, do it
Scout and Hope
can hold off these giants
but then it's gonna
come down to like
what happens next
what
how much does Hope heal me
she can heal you for 70
and then she can heal you
for another 30
but then she will be
out of healing
so she can heal me 100
she can heal you 100
but then she's out
I have a superior healing potion
that's fine
no that's fine
100 gives her a
I'm good
um
it's just enough that if I need to fight I can fight so with this No, that's fine, I have. That's fine. 100 gives a... I'm good.
It's just enough that if I need to fight, I can fight.
So with this, you rush forward.
Hope will use the last of her magic to conjure swarms of fey creatures
like butterflies and sprites and things like that,
which just descend on these Hadar giants,
clouding their vision, confusing them,
making them sort of fight enemies that aren't there.
Scout throws smoke bombs and like flashbangs,
like throwing as much of equipment as he can
to just try and distract them
as the two of you rush forward.
Aayla, suddenly this system of magic and crystals
makes perfect sense to you.
And Nova asking, show me this, show me this.
The two of you work together
and eventually you hear this kind of
as you begin to see these great brass spheres. And there's maybe like 10 of them on each side,
20 in total, each one glowing with elemental fire,
very much like the storm chasers engines,
but multiple of them powered by these immense elementals,
you watch as these spheres seem to like something,
like glyphs on them stop glowing.
And then you watch as an elemental fist of fire bursts from one of them, from another one,
a frosted like elementals face begins to pull
as the elementals themselves, no longer being contained,
begin to break free of the Fenrir's engines.
The giants now have another threat to deal with.
And they begin turning around as the elementals descend on them,
giving you guys a chance to try and at least escape to a nearby exit.
Storm chasers, you guys are outside.
The kraken continues to pummel you.
We don't have, unfortunately, any time to do a round here.
You guys continue fighting the Dreadnought
as the storm chaser is slowly breaking apart,
but then you see it.
A few moments later, you watch as there is almost
like a flickering, like an air bubble pops
around the Fenrir, but almost like a rippling effect,
like glass has been shattered around it.
Fenrir, but almost like a rippling effect,
like glass has been shattered around it. And you see that the shields are now down.
Nova.
Everyone who has the telepathic bond would hear,
Nova Tethalia, shields down, you're up.
Green squadron commencing attack run.
And you see as the Tassadar and the Twinstar move around
and they blast now that the
shields are down you almost actually know you will also hear rain say like uh thalia we're giving you
an opening as the main cannon of the astoria fires an immense blast of magic tearing a hole in the
side of it not enough to destroy it but enough to create a great hole for the twin star and the Tassadar and the other ships to fly in.
Very cool.
I need two last rolls.
Not me, I'm out.
Okay.
I like volunteers.
One is gonna be for Thalia, one is gonna be for Tassadar.
Let's put them all on Rez.
I'll do it.
I'll kill your NPCs.
All right, Rez, if you would like to roll Thalia.
I'm not rolling. I can't.
My rolls are so bad.
Someone give me a wedgeable d20.
You take whatever dice you would like, Ravs.
I'm gonna put the ball in front of you.
Yeah, okay.
Who is gonna roll Potessa?
Yeah.
I like this one.
Tom, you're good at rolls.
I volunteered myself.
Well, let's have Tom do first, because I'm gonna be last.
So are you Thalia?
I'm Thalia.
Okay. I'm a girlfriend.
Yeah, that's huge.
Tassadar, 17.
17.
All right, I'll tell you the respects once I know this one.
No pressure, Rhett.
Oh god.
Ooh, 16.
16.
A few moments go past, and the storm chaser, Quill,
you may be able to get the engines fixed,
but it is dire straits as the Kraken is tearing into the hull,
fending off Max and Protector,
and basically Protector is on his last few breaths.
Max is trying to protect him,
and Danica fending off the tentacles.
Lucius blasting it with magic. Everything is just happening all at once. Sentry's still probably cradling and trying to protect him and Danica fending off the tentacles, Lucius blasting it with magic, everything is just
happening all at once, Sentry still probably
cradling and trying to heal Howard
trying to get him back
when you just see
an explosion
erupt from the middle of the Fenrir
and that explosion cascades and
cascades and cascades all the way
down the ship and then you see the
Twinstar and Tassadar ship
launch out the other side.
Nice.
Hell yeah.
We gotta go.
So, those of you who are on the infiltration team,
you run and you find a section of the ship,
maybe one of these gun ports,
the giant in it having been killed by some stray fire you manage to crawl
out probably climbing out onto the gun barrel itself as you storm chaser prepares to try and
pick you up uh i think that you have suffered enough you are able to reconvene with your party
completely as the fenrir explodes in the sky above Entropis,
the Hadar forces, there is still numerous ships.
The Valkyrian fleet begins to now try and pick them off,
trying to clear a gap in this immense kind of force that's surrounding you.
But to create a hole to get down to the planet,
they are doing everything they can to stop you.
Does anybody have anything they could do or would like to do to try and create a space?
Is the Kraken gone?
Kraken is...
We'll say that the Kraken has been defeated, yes,
or has been fended off with the support fire
from the Twin Star.
Exploded as part of the Fenrir.
But the Storm Chaser is in bad shape.
Prismatic wall. Sort of like at the front of the ship almost bad shape. Prismatic wall.
Sort of like at the front of the ship almost
to like try and create a barrier.
Ramming speed through all these creatures.
I kind of dig that.
That's pretty cool.
So you create like this almost like barrier shield
at the front of the storm chaser.
Probably Lucius would have to be at the prow as well.
I would be.
And just channeling it as a riot is just
all the colors layer up.
Just knocking every time a creature passes through,
just disintegrated by the prismatic magic
as you kind of pummel the storm chaser forward.
That's my level nine.
If Nova was to try and help with the engine problems and stuff,
could I help with anything that needs lifting or strength
in any way to try and keep it stable enough for us to get.
Absolutely, yeah.
Throw me a strength check.
Throw me a gymnastics check.
Absolutely.
Am I still raging?
Yeah.
You can choose when you rage, I believe.
When you stop raging.
It's a 25.
Yeah, 25.
I don't know what to do.
You are lifting things in place,
helping Nova get the engines back in place.
Maybe probably where the cannon is being disabled
by that Astral Dreadnought. they're trying to get that back working and it's
physically like maybe the kraken's blows have dislodged the cannon so Aayla is physically like
lifting the barrel of the main energy cannon up to like fire it in place uh I couldn't really
beg I could fly it I mean your handus, I would say that if you flew in
to a sort of bulk of these forces,
you could dissipate your spirit as a storm.
Like you could become a storm,
but that would dissipate your spirit.
I did wanna combo this up
because I wanted to do another whirlwind
at the front of the ship
and just sort of pierce through as I go.
But if Yohandrius is like flying into that
or into the ships,
I want to put the whirlwind on that as well
and try and, I would say,
but this would basically dissipate the spirit
that you put stored.
But you would, you alone with Quill's help
would probably be able to clear a space if you did this.
Okay.
I'll just turn around to everyone and I'll say,
good luck with Hedar.
Thank you.
Wait, you're going to be there, right?
Wait, who's that?
That's Yohandrius.
Oh, hey, Yohand!
Oh, cool.
He looks so cool.
Get in the spear, did you say?
Get in the spear.
I'd like to spear back.
Do what you got to do.
It's all you, Yohandrius.
I'm just going to have my wings start to crackle with lightning,
and I'm just gonna almost put them back,
because if I'm going really fucking fast,
I'm gonna fly a big amount of them and just erupt into the storm.
Yeah, you watch this erupt into this storm in astral space,
like this space-like storm,
like a nebula that becomes living with lightning,
full of lightning, and it just ripples.
And like most of the smaller Hadar creatures are just popped and evaporated.
Some of the big ships suffer mishaps and begin to crash.
All the weapons are disabled as you basically roll forward like a barrier
combined with Lucius's prismatic barrier and Quill's whirlwind kind of blasting enemies away.
You create this rolling, almost you guys are the tip of the
spear the storm chaser becomes the tip of the spear as the tacidar and several other valkyrian
ships fall in line behind you and follow you in uh lead the way storm chaser you hear callus's
voice kind of call out the astoria and the rest of the fleet will hold space above us to keep their forces away from us. We land on Entropis.
Make for the Tempest Keep.
As the Stormchaser leads to the tip of the spear,
and you head down to Entropis for your final battle.
Holy shit.
And that's where we're going to end today's episode.
Oh.
It's just a character death.
Oh, that's pretty horrible.
It's a part of your spirit.
Yeah.
That's two.
Oh, no, no, no, no.
Not me.
I'm just, you know,
actual Johann's chilling on a beach somewhere.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
It's the fate of the dice.
Oh, I mean, like,
it was the one,
the one roll I do that's high.
Kim.
Yeah.
You did nothing wrong.
You can't control the dice.
You are not at fault here.
Just the dice have been so shit today.
Nobody else could have tanked it anyway.
But hey, let me say this.
Even when the dice are bad, the story is still good.
Let's remember that.
A bad dice roll doesn't mean bad game.
Bad dice roll means really dramatic, cool stuff happened.
Sad stuff, but that's part of storytelling. That's what I was going to say. It's a rough choice. You did it. It was a rough choice. doesn't mean bad game bad dice moral means really dramatic cool stuff happened sad stuff
but that's part of storytelling
that's what I was going to say
it's a rough choice
you did it
it was a rough choice
kind of how I wanted
the story to go
but that's the thing as well
it was that choice of like
I could have arcane gate in
to get her
but then we wouldn't
have got off the ship
I'd say that yeah
that arcane gate
was why I didn't have you
make any rolls or checks
because we had that in the band
that's why I didn't have you
roll to escape
I was like you have that
you can just teleport
straight over to the
tunnel check
if you had gone
into that tunnel
you would have died
yeah absolutely
and I will tell you this
if you did not have
arcane gate
one of the other
NPCs was going to
automatically be lost
oh god
if that would have
been because it
would have been
they sacrificed
themselves to help
you get back
it was the right choice.
So think about that.
It was difficult.
There are never any wrong or right choices.
There are just stories.
It was hard, because you want to save them, and you can't.
And you fucking spocked me with the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the one.
I'm stuck in radiation land.
Like, oh!
And, you know, I'm sure that it's going to be a case of like,
oh, you could have done this, you could have done that, but we didn't.
And the important thing is, is we made a cool story.
Hell yeah.
Yeah, that's what matters.
We made a giant ship explode.
We had a dragon!
Yeah.
And we had a dragon.
So just before we finish, before this goes out,
because I don't want to cut this out of the episode,
especially for the podcast, a couple of quick things.
I want to say a big thank you to Ravs.
Yeah!
Coming back just to tie off that little loose end.
We knew that your hand was kind of maybe sticking around. He's bound, he's bound.
We've never seen so many recharges on a breath weapon.
I got really lucky on my breath, sir.
You did.
That was damn cool.
I assume my spear might be OP, guys.
I will say, you probably would be able to reclaim the spear,
but no more your hand.
It's mundane.
Yeah.
I'd say Elder Quill is still in there.
You can still have Elder Quill.
Oh, thank God.
The other thing I want to quickly mention
is just because I like to shout out.
So a little bit of when we were doing the Fenrir stuff,
the infiltration team,
I was using some of the mechanics
from my good friend Sean Tompkins'
Ironsworn Starforged,
which is really cool.
I love the Ironsworn RPG system.
It's very, very cool.
And I was using all the random tables
to generate those places in the Fenrir.
So that whole thing with Mimir,
that was two keywords I got from these random tables
that gave me an idea that I then developed.
Because I was like, oh, it was like,
immersed container was like what I rolled.
But it was in a lore or like library or database.
And I was like, what would the giants have on their ship? I was like what it was in a law or like library or database and i was like what would the
giants have on this i was like and i've been doing a lot more stuff with my friend joe and i've been
i was like oh mimir as like a head that has like all this knowledge and he's like an ai
that'd be really cool all right all came from the oracle oracle tables in here. Kim, the mythology nerd, knew, but Nova... I think I saw a few people be like,
ooh.
Was it because Aayla was Alfheim elf
that maybe swayed it?
And the giants knew of Alfheim.
A Freya class, whatever that means.
Swayed it towards, yeah.
If it had been anyone else,
they would have been more suspicious.
Yeah, you were the right person.
Maybe Hope would have been the other one
because the giants would have known the Archfey.
But the fact that it was an elf of Alfheim,
that Mimir would have gone,
oh, I know this.
I know who this is.
So that worked out.
Shut it down!
I'm glad I didn't, like, you know,
vent him into space now.
Yeah, I was, like, holding the hammer.
I was like, hey, if that happens,
but I am going to give Aayla a chance
of, like, this thing's going to recognize it.
Well, my thought was just shut the fucking,
shut it down.
Shut it down.
And that would have,
that could have worked as well
I mean not sponsored
but wow that sounds great
what's that name again
that name again is
Iron Swarm Starforged
you can actually get
the Iron Swarm rules
completely for free
off the Iron Swarm website
this is the sci-fi version
if you like stuff
like the Mandalorian
and Cowboy Bebop
and stuff like that
this is what this is
you can play it solo
you can play it with your friends
but the main thing is,
as a GM,
I find the random tables,
the Oracle tables they're called,
so good in this.
And they basically were
entirely how I did the Fenris stuff.
So, check that out.
That is going to be it
for this episode of High Rollers.
Thank you guys so much.
Thank you once again, Ravs.
Yeah.
Any time.
It was great.
Thank you.
I'm sure we'll have us back at some point in perhaps future campaigns.
Remember when we were at Mierski?
A bit different now, isn't it?
Yeah.
We're all grown up now.
Yeah.
With that, that is going to be it.
Thank you very much for joining us.
We love you.
Take care.
See you next time.
Bye.
Bye.
Bye.
Bye.
Bye. Thank you.
