Last time, our heroes have been spending some time in the free city of Porta Sovrano in the Hawk's Dawn Archipelago,
a series of islands not far from the continent of Voxar.
While spending some much-needed time to recover, the party were asked to help clear out A group of gnolls on behalf of
The Vintare Solorenze
A sisterhood of the vine
A small monastery of winemaking nuns
On arriving at the monastery
However, it was clear that things
Had escalated before the party's arrival
The gnolls had completely overrun
The vineyards and now wield
Strange magic
Magic that the party have encountered before
and those touched by Hadar, the Crimson Star.
And we begin in the middle of a combat
in a fresh, brand new round.
In a fresh hell.
So welcome, everyone.
I hope everyone remembers how to play Dungeons & Dragons.
As we begin with Ayla, let me set the scene.
So you are currently mainly around a dirt path that leads through the thick,
grassy, thick vines and vineyards of this monastery.
The vines are very thick and tall enough that you can't really see through them.
Ayla has dashed off down one of these kind of corridors
uh of the the vineyards itself chasing after one of the knolls um several of the others have then
started began begun to swarm around the rest of the party one used some sort of strange magic uh
to create some sort of dense sphere of blackness that tried to suck you all in and was then obliterated
by Quillicad Calar
with a very intense
guiding bolt.
But there are still enough of them
Yes, there are still enough of them around
to cause some harm.
Nova also has
her hologram, which is
a specter, effectively using one of her things,
Morn, who is currently engaging one. effectively using one of her things, Morn,
who is currently engaging one.
There's a little bit of cover.
The vines themselves, if people duck behind them,
they do block line of sight and provide cover as well and things like that.
And we begin with Ayla, who is, yeah,
darting down in amongst between these two rows
of grape-laden vines and trellises.
So, I will...
You can see one of them is running away from you.
Yeah, he's not going to get far.
I'm going to go after that boy.
Probably not.
I thought you were.
No. No escaping!
So you go charging after him.
He's not. He's like 15 feet
He's 15 feet away from you
So you reaped him in a few steps
I think for Ayla
A few bound
Yeah
Sorry I'm just loaded up
My character sheet
After my computer
Issues
What's the initiative order
Just so we can
Get our brains ready
Initiative order is
So it's Ayla
Then it's one of the gnolls will go.
So in terms of player order,
the next one of you to act is Lucius,
then it will be Nova, then Sentry,
and then a bunch of gnolls,
and then Quill is basically the end of the initiative.
Yeah, I rolled that.
It's being plus nine.
That will hit.
It's being plus nine.
So with Mourn, by the way, Kim,
while Katie, yeah, just roll up your damage, Katie,
because that definitely hit.
19 plus nine as well.
Those will both hit.
So if you just roll up the damage for those two attacks.
Kim, for Mourn,
to make it easier on me, if you don't mind,
can Mourn just go after you?
So take your turn,
and then Mourn just goes immediately after you finish your turn.
Yeah, boy.
Because that's...
If I have to add another creature into the initiative,
it's going to be a pain.
I don't want to blow your brain.
No, I don't think that's probably how I'm going to
rule it for the future. Twelve damage on the
first. You cave
his head in. Oh my god!
Nice.
Squelch.
Yeah.
You run up
behind him as he desperately tries to flee
and with one fell
swoop of the hammer it comes crashing down
on his back of his spine
and you just hear something snap
oh
tasty
so can I
have I heard
have I heard
some of the other gnolls that are in the row below me?
Well, you don't know if there's necessarily any in the row below you.
Enough to go to the end of this row and peak round.
You can definitely do that, yeah, for sure.
You haven't heard anything.
You've heard like the...
And then screaming from back where your friends were.
Well, I can see Lucius. Sure.
From where I am.
So I can see if he's been doing stuff.
So I took two, so five, ten.
15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45.
So I will move around into the end of this row here.
Okay, so you kind of round the row.
Yeah, you can see at the end of the row, you can see another one
that appears to be pulling out various little hatchets
to throw, and is kind of
using the Viner's cover, kind of darting
and throwing at something you can't see
around the other side. Sweet. Perfect.
After Aayla,
one of the gnolls looks to be more
in control of
the situation than the others
and kind of hisses, looking back at the ripped apart body of the mage that was accompanying them.
And it just kind of crawls out in this kind of yappy dog-like voice like,
ah, hurry up, kill them, quickly!
And it will make a few attacks of its own.
And then it will also incite a rampage,
a few attacks of its own, and then it will also incite a rampage,
causing the
one that is fighting
5, 10, 15, 20,
25, 30.
Yes.
It will, in fact,
actually what he'll do is he'll move here
and then he'll do it. And he'll
command the one fighting Quill
to make a swing with his axe.
Oh, shit.
Luckily, that's only an 11
to hit.
It doesn't hit.
Yep, didn't hit, but reused
the reaction, so
he swings twice, but Century
kind of gets her arms and shield
in the way, avoiding the blow.
And then the actual
leader, the pack lord,
will take two shots with his longbow.
At Lucius,
one of them will be
for a
16 to hit, Lucius.
Yeah. E.
Six points of damage as an arrow kind of streaks past you.
You got the
shield.
You activated the shield last time. You did you activated your barrier ring.
My trap card.
Because I remember Quill went.
It's only 14 but it still hits him.
Ah.
Ah.
I mean.
I forgot your AC is so garbage.
It's almost like he's a sorcerer.
He can't wear armour, unlike you, Birdman.
It's too heavy for me!
For your cheek, Birdman.
He'll take another shot at Quill as well.
This one will be a 17 to hit.
Shit.
That hit?
Yeah, that hits.
It takes six points of piercing damage.
As the arrow comes flying out. That hit? Yeah, that hit. It takes six points of piercing damage. Okay.
The arrow comes flying out.
I said I had piercing damage for a second.
Sorry!
I heard piercing damage.
Did piercing damage.
That's how it was streamed.
It's like Rampage.
It's a strong flow.
Yep.
Lucius.
Lucius is going to...
I moved.
Lucius is going to do what he was going to do anyway.
Okay.
Which is a...
I wait with bated breath.
I'm going to cast
a vitriolic sphere,
which is 150 range
and 20 foot radius.
20 foot radius, you say?
Hold on.
Uh-oh.
Maybe not about there. That's great, though.
Can you move that down until
I'm not hitting myself?
Crikey.
Yes, so I'll get those three
with the vitriolic
sphere, please.
Dex saving throw, I believe.
Nice. Each creature in the area
must make a dex saving throw of
16.
16. So I'll do the
gnoll packlord first.
You're alright there, Tom.
Yeah, I'm fine.
16. Gnoll failed.
The packlord failed, and then the
two regular gnolls... This is acid, by the way.
Okay.
Is it DC 16, did you say?
Oui, oui. Okay, so
the one on the far right
who's kind of hiding half behind one of the vineyards
does manage to kind of successfully jump back
and avoid some of the damage.
The other two will take the full amount.
Right.
What is the full amount?
Oh, my God, 10d4.
Oh, wow. And then 10d4. Oh wow.
And then 5d4, so half that for...
Oh wait, no, it is...
Creature takes 10d4...
I think it takes some more on its next round, doesn't it?
Yes.
So 19 to 2 of the gnolls, and then what, half of 19?
9.
9.
9 to
this one.
So next round those that hit will get half again
and the one that missed
gets nothing.
And die commencing please.
That's pretty good.
Who would you like to affect?
What target does your...
What do you do?
9 points to Who would you like to affect? What target does your... What do you do? Nine points
to this one, please.
The one fighting sentry.
Yes, please. The one fighting sentry.
I got you.
Nine points to the fifth level spell.
Oui, oui.
Oh my god.
So you cast the Vitriolic sphere at 5th level
yeah so like a streak
as the acid kind of this
ball of acid erupts
near the ground and just showers
these three gnolls with globules
of this orange coloured viscous
material you can see them patting at their
fur and it burns and sizzles away
leaving these bald patches
and then a streak of
orange comes flying out of Lucius' hand
to hit the one in the back that's currently fighting
Sentry as well.
Would you like to move or anything else?
Nova.
Can I
move over
to
this boy here?
So I'm going to go to the gnoll that's closest to Quilek.
And I would like to attack with Tiangong and Green Flame Blade it.
Nice.
I can't say that one.
You have to say it slowly.
You can't say it quick.
Green Flame Blade.
So I need to one of these. So I need to...one of these.
So I need to roll a d20 plus 9. That's 21 to hit!
Yeah, that hits the gnoll, yes.
And then I roll...
The green flame of the sword carves through his shitty leather armour.
So my first attack...so the Tiangong attack does 11 points of damage.
Yes.
And... And then...
You get some bonus damage.
Green frame does 3 points of damage.
Green frame braid.
Green frame braid.
And then there's not another target.
You would be able to get another target with it,
but you don't.
The second with 1d8 plus
five but there's no one here the original target takes the bonus cool um so you've moved a little
bit you've done an action anything else um no i can't do anything else um century yeah oh can i
um do mourn stuff please um oh yes so mour Oh, yeah. Morn needs to do things.
So I'm sorry, Sentry.
So I would like to order Morn to stay where he is,
but he's going to attack the gnoll that's nearest to him using...
Yep, there's one right in front of him.
He looks very confused that he's fighting, like,
a blue version of himself that doesn't seem to really be there.
So I need to roll with disadvantage, though,
because it's sunshine and he's not a very sunny boy.
So my first roll is a 16 and my second roll is a 25 to hit.
So 16 to hit.
That will hit.
So that is now 3d6.
Oh, God.
Damage.
No action.
That's my thing.
It's like non-ull on null action. That's my thing. Which is... It's like null on hologram action.
Seven points of damage.
And can the target make a DC 10 constitution saving throw, please?
Failed.
So its maximum, hit point maximum is reduced by that amount.
The same amount, yep.
By seven points yeah
yeah i mean these guys and he dies if it gets reduced to zero so yeah which yeah it's more
useful against players than it is against monsters yeah monsters don't tend to really
worry when they're at zero hit points they're dead sentry uh you currently have one of these
creatures in front of you um they wield a pair of hand axes.
And they're very reckless in the way that they attack.
They're kind of just constantly swinging.
Yeah.
Alrighty.
I'm going to go for a Whack-a-Whack-a, please, with my Lady's Rose.
Okay.
So you just swing...
Yep.
Swing Lady's Rose.
That's a hit.
25 to hit.
And I'm going to Divine Smite it as well.
So I'll just do the 1.
Level 1 Divine Smite, please.
2d8 plus 5.
And the d4.
And don't forget the weapon damage as well.
Yep, so that is...
And another d8 as well.
And a d8.
And a d8.
I'll chuck him over here.
Cool.
Is that right?
Yes, because it's a d8 for the base weapon
and then 2d8 for the Divine Smite
plus 5 because of your strength
and then a d4 for Her Majesty's Rose.
So that's 23 points of damage.
Damn. Nice.
You watch as this
gnaw staggers back
barely on his feet, clutching at this
gaping wound across his chest
that the thorns of Her Majesty's
Rose has torn through its flesh
and it's swaying. You can see
that a stiff wind is going to knock
this guy over at this point.
That's me.
Wow. Gust. see that a stiff wind is going to knock this guy over at this point. That's me. Just go, wow.
Gust. Just blow on him.
I recommend you do, but yes.
Yep.
Would you like to, anything else? You got your second
attack? Got my second
attack. Yeah, why not?
Let's do another attack then. Let's do it.
Okay.
If this hits, it'll just finish him off basically eight plus
nine yeah that's still gonna hit that's what 17 cool 17 yeah and then i'll just do the standard
don't worry about don't roll don't worry damage don't worry about rolling damage he had one hit
yes you just kind of plunge the sword
through and just finish off this
gnoll, tearing at his throat as
the lifeless body just slumps to the ground.
And you can hear all the other
hyenas begin to kind of
howl, almost. It's more of a
kind of screeching, howl-like
scream
as they're beginning to get cut down.
Is that all you've done, Century?
I'm going to move in here.
Just a little bit out of the way.
Duck into one of the
rows of the vineyard itself.
Yeah.
Okay, yeah. You lose sight of...
You can see your companions fighting, but you lose sight
of the other gnolls for the time being.
Okay.
And they begin their assault.
Rip me.
Let's move some.
I believe.
Goodbye everybody.
I believe it's at the start of their turn they take damage, Lucius.
Double check that.
The end of its next turn. The end of its next turn the end of its next time okay so
they take nine damage they will yeah yeah yeah I'm gonna make that fourth
level one because I did 10 d4 you were here they weren't you? Or were you in here? I was in there, but I was doing the lighting thing.
Okay, okay, okay.
Right.
I think that's everybody.
So they all begin moving up
and then they basically begin
coordinating their attacks in a
more controlled manner.
Quill,
they are going to attack you. Two of them are going to attack
you for sure.
I see you
annihilate their mage.
Bye-bye.
So...
We'll see.
Each one makes two attacks. The first one hacks at you
with its first hatchet for a
seven to hit.
The next one is at a eight
to hit.
Alright, that's the first one. The next one is at a 8 to hit. Alright, that's the first one.
The next one who comes
rushing up from behind
also swings at you.
For a 6 to hit.
That was a natural one.
So far I've rolled a 2, a 3 and a 1
for podcast listeners.
And then the last one.
Oh, a 13 to hit.
It doesn't hit!
Oh my god!
All of these hatchets come
swinging in, these violent blows.
Oh shit.
I actually forgot that you will get to move.
I moved him.
I've got three.
I was so lucky.
All of these attacks come swinging in but
none of them hit
none of them actually impact on you
unbelievable
Jesus
one fight in Mourn we'll try and swing at Mourn
twice
for a
14 to hit
and a 11 to hit and a 11 to hit.
14 is?
That's 6 points of
slashing damage to Morn, so half to 3.
He dissipates into the ether.
No!
He took a while though.
He took a fair amount of damage.
That was not bad.
So what I'll do then is,
what I did is I rolled 2 attacks at once. I'll move this guy.
He'll just move to here, but he won't make his
second attack. Well, he does, but it's like
11 to here or something like that.
Yeah, Morn had
DC 12, so.
Okay, nice.
So Morn is now gone. Delete.
Bye, Morn. And then
Lucius, one of them comes rushing up after
hacking apart the hologram,
but then one also leaps from the side in front of you and will take two swings at you as well.
See, now I can hit.
21 to hit.
Yeah.
And then an 18 to hit.
Yeah.
Oh, no.
I actually have to roll damage on some of these now.
So you've got 4 HP.
Yeah.
You've got 4 HP?
roll damage on some of these now.
So you've got 4 HP?
You've got 4 HP?
That's a shame because you just took 12 points plus 3
15 points of damage.
And then
the second attack hits you when you're down.
These gnolls show
no mercy.
These gnolls absolutely show
no mercy.
As soon as you drop, the axe impacts
into your side and you fall to the ground
tucked between these two vineyards.
It just lets out
a like, and it slams
its hatchet down again.
Sensing that it's
probably weakened you, it's going to use its rampage
ability, which is when it reduces a creature to zero,
it can use a bonus action to move
up to half its speed and make a bite
attack, and it will do so by going
one, two, three.
Damn it. Zach, how many failures
does that count as when I'm hit on the floor? Two.
Two. Because it's a crit.
Because it was within five feet
of you, it's technically a crit, which is two death
saving throws.
Yay.
Well, I've got
some good news for you, though. It's Quillicad
Kalaz's turn next. That's not good news.
Yeah, but I've got two dudes next to me.
I've got three HP.
I don't have Expeditious Retreat.
That's a shame.
Yeah, I can...
I can action...
If I action dodge, I can avoid
all of their attacks, right?
Action dodge, basically, well, you take your
action to disengage, and then...
Disengage. Yeah, disengage, yeah, that would allow you to move,
but that does take up your action.
That's okay,
because I can bonus action heal.
Healing word. You can.
I mean, at this point, yeah, like,
you don't see Lucius go down, but you
hear a kind of, you know,
wet noise, and then this
gnoll comes rushing out from where
Lucius was. I mean, my perception's
so high, I know that wet noise is Lucius.
I'm not
saying that you don't.
Okay, so I disagree.
When you round the corner, you see
Lucius on the ground
bleeding badly.
I also just realised
Trot, I need you to roll a constitution
saving throw please.
Is this your
first one?
16.
Nah, he's had them before.
I managed to get out
of all of them.
True.
And then finally
I do a...
I'll do fourth level
actually. Fourth level
healing word.
Boom. You heal for 14.
Thank you. 14 hit points.
And your
death saving three count is
reset.
That's your whole turn, isn't basically Quill because you action disengage
action moved
everything goes at the top
Ayla the thing that you were going to fight
runs off but you see other things
come running around corners and all sorts
of goody
in between these vines no I'm talking about the things that you're already
fighting things that you're already fighting.
Things that are already there.
So, I can... Yeah, I will...
Can't reach him!
You can reach him, 45.
I think she can just reach
the leader one.
Perfect.
You can see the names, yeah.
This is 45.
I've just moved 45.
Okay, I thought you could reach him.
Oh, you can't reach him.
That's a shame.
I will...
I have a bow, sir.
I will pull out my bow.
You do.
So as you're running, you kind of put the Howling Tempest away and pull out the longbow.
Yeah. I'll pull out the longbow instead, which is with the magical arrows.
Was it a plus one to hit with the magic arrows?
It's plus two for the magic arrows. You only had 20 of them.
I don't know how many you've got left.
I've been marking them down, but I think I still have double digits.
I think you have enough. Yeah, I think you still have double digits I think you have enough kill
kill
destroy
that will hit
17 plus 10
to hit
so 1d8
plus
4 no 5 6 actually plus 6 because of magic so So 1d8 plus 4.
No, 5, 6 actually.
6 because of magic.
So 6 plus 6 is 12 damage
on the first hit.
Yep. One arrow comes flying out.
Kind of impacts into his back.
So 20 to hit.
And then...
That will also hit. 7 then... That will also hit.
Seven damage.
Another seven points.
Enough to both arrows
kind of thud into the pack leader's
back, and you see it kind of...
Another one!
It kind of twists in an awkward,
painful way.
Quick!
Kill them all! Take them to Baraz!
He must be fed!
Uh, is that your turn?
That's me. I'm done.
Okay.
Ah, shee!
I misread their rampage ability.
Technically, all of the gnolls
that could see Lucius went down should have been able to
move and make a blind attack. Oh well.
Oh well. Oh my god.
The leader will turn
and basically move to
here, and he'll attack
Will.
Jesus.
What?
And also, Tom, roll the d6 for me roll a d66 I've got 18 on my portent yeah that's for his insight rampage ability doesn't come back that's okay
he'll make my acid go off the second part? Oh, no, it didn't.
So was it 5d4?
9 damage to those two.
I'm going to roll again, 5d4.
Oh, I thought it was half of what you previously did.
No.
It says 5d4 instead of 10.
You roll 5d4, yeah.
You roll a new 5d4.
So that's a 14.
Alright, okay.
This guy... With Aayla's long shot and our attacks, he died. so that's a 14 alright this guy
this guy with Aayla's long shot
he died
you would have killed him with the acid
oh he doesn't attack me
I live again
I don't get cocky about it
the only one that got hit was F
because C
didn't get hit by that
so what was that 14?
14 please he also dies because C didn't get hit by that. So what was that, 14? 14, please.
He also dies.
Oh, yeah.
He melted.
Yeah.
Which I believe, if you had remembered,
would have retroactively meant that you didn't get knocked down.
He wouldn't have been there to do those attacks against you.
So you need to try and remember that
at the end of the turn.
Wasted a healing word. So that's fine.
Yes, that's fine.
You need to remind me
at the end of their turn, they take more damage.
To be fair, you would have got it.
That's true, yes.
But yeah, that's true. He wouldn't have moved.
So very true.
Very, very true.
Well, because that guy died
Lucius
it's your go
is it
I didn't get to go
I might go again
yeah
I'm confused
okay
you're thinning out their numbers
very quickly
that's why
thin out their numbers
yes
yes
the move would be
there is one next to me
which is
E
null E I'm going to cast armor of Agathys you can run if you want the move would be bad. There is one next to you, which is E. Null E.
I'm going to cast
Armor of Agathys. You could run if you want.
Or you could disengage and then move.
Yeah.
Not gonna.
I'm gonna cast Armor of Agathys
on myself at level 1.
Yep. Gives me 5 temp HP.
And if anything hits you, they
take 5 cold damage. Indeed. And then anything hits you, they take 5 cold damage.
Indeed.
And then that's it.
That's kind of it, really.
Yes.
Sacrifice?
In terms of what?
Cold?
Does that count for that?
I guess it will.
Yeah, okay.
I will do it on this gnoll.
Okay. So, level 1.
5.
5 points of cold damage
So as you conjure the armour
A piece of blue ice kind of rockets forward
With your dichromancy, your blue eye glowing
As it impales this remaining gnoll
Who kind of like takes it
It's just like, you're killed back, I kill you
Please
Don't
Nova
Just screams at you.
I'm going to move
in between
the two
lololololols.
You technically can't move through a creature's
space like that, unless you were like
shoulder barging them out of the way.
Then I go here.
I will go next to them in a slightly different route.
I would like to cast Hexblade Curse on Null A.
Let's call him Adam.
And then I'm going to attack with...
What about Charlie?
No, he's A, so he's Adam.
Charlie can just hang out.
Okay. And then I'm gonna attack with Tiangong and
green flame
blade it.
Okay.
So, I'm gonna attack
A. Green flambe.
That's a hit. That is a 26
to hit.
That is a hit.
Which then is
1 d10 to hit. What does it hit? Which then is 1
D10
plus 9.
So...
Wait, no, sorry.
Was that the D10? Yes. Okay, so 12
points of Tiangong Slashu damage.
Slashu.
Yeah.
I'm assuming you're using Tiangong
2 handy, that's why it's a DK.
Yes.
And then, so Green Flame Blade on Adam
is 1d8 plus my Hexblade Curse, which is 4.
Hold on.
1, 2, 3, 4.
You all right there, Mark?
So that's 5.
That's 5 points. Kim's saying a lot of things i'm just saying okay yep so the green flame royals on tiangong yep um and 10 points of green flame on charlie
charlie
i'll stay uh uh well hang on why is it plus 9
because you don't have your hex blade on that one
oh yeah sorry so yeah take off
4 points for that so sorry
yeah you know my B
I'm so happy about that
trying to break the rules are you
trying to break the rules I see
sounding like a Minecraft villager
when you did that
6 points on Charlie
the green flame washes over one of these gnolls and then as you sounded like a Minecraft villager when you did that. Six points on Charlie.
The green flame washes over one of these gnolls,
and then as you kind of pull Tiangong free,
an arc of it reaches over and begins igniting one of the other ones as well.
And you can see that they're very much in a panicked frenzy.
You don't think that they're attacking you out of a kind of like rage.
They're just kind of attacking you because if they don't, they think they're going to die. They're just like,
they're kind of looking all around, seeing their
numbers dwindle and they're just
trying to kill whatever they can.
A very accurate observation,
Knowles.
I'm going to move
up to this boy
and then I'm going to
attack him.
One of the ones fighting Nova.
Let us see.
Yeah.
So I'm going to go for him.
Sure.
28 to hit. First one.
And then I'm going to roll
my attack damage.
So we'll do that one and I'll divine
smite at level 2 on this one as well.
So that's 11 standard damage. So we'll do that one and I'll Divine Smite at level 2 on this one as well. So that's 11 standard damage. Another 2d8. It's probably a good idea to roll the Smite damage separately because it's Radiant as
well.
Yeah. So there's that one. Ooh, 5.
So as you strike at this one,, the two now fighting Nova and Sentry
both look heavily, heavily wounded,
but they're on their feet.
And very much like cornered animals now,
they're just lashing out with weapons
as much as they can
in a kind of desperate need to survive
as you lash out at them.
So that was your first attack.
Yep, and I'll do it again.
Okay.
Number two.
Thirteen to hit number two.
That does not hit.
This one is kind of death of panic,
manages to duck the blow
as the sword kind of sweeps over its head
where you were kind of aiming for almost decapitation.
This thing just manages to duck
more through luck than anything else
as the blade swings overhead.
Anything else?
No, that's me.
Good. Thank you very much.
Okay. Lots of attacks on Nova
now as these things are
desperate to slay the one
that is burning them with the green fire.
So each gets two attacks.
So that's going to be
a
23 to hit.
Yes.
The next attack will be a
11 to hit.
No.
Next attack will be a 18 to hit.
17, sorry.
17, yeah, exactly.
Okay, so it's still a hit.
And then the last one's a natural 20!
Oh, piss.
Right.
So, three hits. Each one
is a sneak attack as well. The first one
is a sneak attack and then the next attack won't be.
So this is 3d6
plus three for the first one.
So that is 11
points of damage.
Followed by 7 points of damage.
And then the next one, because...
Oh, right, hang on.
Okay, so the way this would have gone
is the first one that hit you would have been a sneak attack,
which was the correct amount of damage. the next one is on the new target but i'm just going to add uh was
from the new target but i'm just going to add 2d6 for their sneak attacks this was their first hit
so i had another nine on top of the seven yes okay it's the order of the attacks matters here
because it can only sneak attack once per turn. So the crit isn't a sneak attack.
Yep.
And then the last one, which is the crit,
is six plus one plus three.
Ten.
That was my fault because I should have rolled,
then done the damage, rolled, then done the damage.
Because the sneak attack can only happen once per turn.
So basically I saved you from a crit sneak attack is what i'm doing now okay so you've got
that all so it was yeah yes like nine there's eleven nine seven nine and then the last one
ten yeah ten yeah yeah oh sorry yeah said that. I think it got missed.
You're still standing.
I'm still standing. Still standing.
I'm still standing.
And then the last one just chases after...
Actually, no, it wouldn't go after Lucius
because you just surrounded yourself in ice.
It goes after Quill.
What? It would. It's another couple of times armor of ice i'm
technically here by the way thank you okay yeah oh even better there's even more reason for another
double dodge here we go uh 13 no 13 to hit 21 no damn it damn it it! No sneak attacks.
It doesn't have any allies
within the area.
Four points of damage.
I'm down.
I'm done, Zoe.
Did you dodge?
No, you didn't dodge.
He disengaged, which isn't the same thing.
When he reduces a creature to zero hit points,
this gnoll goes on a rampage,
and he goes after Lucius.
Where were you, Lucius?
Just move yourself to where you actually were.
I am there.
You are where you are.
Okay, so he will make a bite attack against you.
He's going to take damage,
but he's in a kind of rampage.
So 11 to hit. Nope, but he's in a kind of rampage so 11 to hit
nope but it's 5 damage
I think that only applies if it hits you
oh yeah if it hits sorry
so he just tries to bite you but you leap backwards
as the hyenas the gnolls
jaws just kind of clamp shut
um
quill make a death save
and also a constitution saving throw
constitution saving
throw
11, that's a pass
you succeed, no injury
now a death save
oh a death save, I just automatically marked
it as a failure
well we'll see
you got ahead of yourself.
Yeah.
All right.
Ayla.
Hello.
Hello.
You can see that this battle has gone very south for these gnolls.
However, in their desperate attempt to just try and survive,
they are inflicting some pretty nasty wounds on those around them.
Pretty gnolly wounds., gnarly wounds.
Some gnarly wounds.
I will run over to Quill.
Okay.
I mean, he's got two more rounds.
I'm good.
The thing is, I know he has his portent so I know he's at
least got one success if he needs it. I could roll a one mark. Can you portent on a death
save? I guess you can, it's a saving throw. I think I can portent any roll apparently. So on my screen this gnoll is in a different square than your map.
Oh.
Yeah.
He's there.
Yeah.
Can I...
I want to attack but I also want to save!
I will...
Protect or attack?
I will attack.
Smash. I will get my hammer out and I will attack. Smash. I will get my hammer out,
and I will attack this gnoll that's attacking Lucius.
Okay.
You can do that.
You're attacking Eric.
That's fine.
Eric deserves it.
Sure, he does.
That's an it plus 9 hits.
So, 17.
Still hits.
And then a...
Hammer comes smashing into his side.
5 plus 9.
That's not going to hit.
14 is a miss.
So, the first blow connects, but then it manages to kind of throw itself to the side, avoiding the second follow-up attack.
Eleven damage with the hammer.
Can you make a saving throw?
Oh, yes.
That's lightning.
Are you raging?
I think you are raging.
I am.
Yeah, I raged at the very start of the battle.
Fail!
Yep.
Six points of lightning damage, please.
Blasted.
Six points of lightning damage.
Blasted.
You can see, yeah, like the others,
it's been reduced to kind of swaying in the wind,
very clearly heavily injured,
but is now just frothing at the mouth in a kind of desperate need to attack like a cornered animal.
Anything else?
No, I think I'm just going to make sure
that I'm standing protectively over Phil's
dead pod.
Not dead yet.
Dying.
So he's not been stabilized just yet.
Not yet.
I used my attack.
And there is a gnoll
in your way.
Oh, bugger.
Well,
we have to deal with this gnoll. So...
So...
Hmm, how can I do
this without... Disadvantage.
Well, I was going to say, yeah, don't forget
if you cast any sort of ranged spell,
because it's right next to you, you will have
disadvantage.
You know what, just carry a weapon.
Sadly, that does not do damage.
Have the trident.
So, I'm going to attack with that.
I think.
Sure.
So let's give that a go. Why not?
Oh, that's a two.
That's a nat one is what that is.
That's a nat one is what that is. That's a natural one, actually.
So you thrust with the trident,
but this is a weapon you are not used to wielding in the slightest.
Get away from me!
I also think technically you would have been disadvantaged with the trident
because I don't know if you're proficient with it.
You want to see if I can get it worked for off?
No.
I mean, no.
But I'm just saying, technically.
Yeah, you try and swing with this trident,
but weakened as you are, low on hit points,
and also not being very well trained in the martial arts,
this blow goes wide,
and the gnoll simply leaps to the side.
I'm going to shout over the vineyard grape walls.
Quill is down!
Someone needs to get to him fast.
Excellent.
Perfect.
They know that.
Icecorp loud.
That's the death squawk.
What was that?
I think I'm going to attack
boys again.
I'm good.
You're going to attack these two? Yeah, so I'm gonna attack my boys again. I'm good. You're gonna attack these two?
Yeah, so I'm gonna swing to
and gong at
Adam.
See where all my good luck's gone today.
Um,
so that's a d10.
Don't even roll the roll
damage, Kim.
Don't roll damage.
In which case,
I heal myself.
Yeah, green flame bladed, so I need to roll for...
Charlie's down too.
No, you don't need to roll because it automatically hits the
other one, right? It just does d8 plus
charisma mod damage.
No, they both had two hit points.
Okay.
I heal for 14
from my Hexblade Curse.
Nice. Wonderful.
You still have your movement.
Would you like to move?
I will have a little stroll.
5, 10, 15, 20, 25.
Go for a little stroll.
5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30.
Yes. Yes.
Right next to you.
So I run over next to
Quill's squishy body.
You're reaching out
as it goes to Sentry's turn.
No, I know.
I can just look at you.
They're just going to watch me die.
They're just going to stand around you in a circle. It's like a nice little show. Hello. How's it going? Just looking watch me
Okay, yeah don't nice I love it
There's so many people like it's fine. Oh wait. You got another death save next that with me
Yeah, oh, I should pretty stabilize you though, haven't you? Yeah. Oh, I should probably stabilise you though, shouldn't I? Yeah, let's stabilise the bird.
No, no, no, Reed, you do what you want to do.
Nah, because he's got to make saves next go.
He does have to make saves.
I mean, if you stabilise me, he'll hit me again, right?
I'm dead, I don't know why I'm interrupting.
Make your move.
No, because I'm between him and you. I'll be fine.
Yeah, I'll stabilize the boy.
All right.
How are you going to stabilize the boy?
So I'm going to use my Leon Handy Hands,
and I'm going to give him some stuff.
I'll give you 20 points.
Oh, my God.
20 hit points.
Jeez.
Wow.
20.
Yeah, Leon Handy Hands is good.
20.
I think Century's actually on you. I've 20. I think Sentry's actually on you.
I've got 45.
Yeah.
I think Sentry's actually on you.
I brought you back, Lucius.
I mean, you were on three hit points at the same time.
You were on three hit points for like two goes,
and I was like, can you heal yourself?
But then Lucius went down.
I was going to heal myself, but then Lucius went down.
I want to do damage. I was going to heal myself, but then Lucius went down. I want to do damage!
I destroyed the mage!
I wanted to have the necessary powerful spell to annihilate one target.
Yeah, but that guy...
That was last week, Tom.
That was last week.
Anyway, the last remaining gnoll.
The only one left.
What will he do? I'm gonna roll
a wisdom saving
throw for him.
I'm gonna make a saving throw for him.
Peace, Elf.
Oh, wow.
There we go.
Alright, 15, yeah.
So he becomes a foot.
He, kind of frothing at the mouth still,
you can see his axe is kind of slick with blood and things like that,
just kind of looks around and is very clearly surrounded,
drops its weapons and just lays on the ground.
It just drops itself to the ground in a very kind of placated position,
kind of put its hands out
and it's like, please, please.
We were told to kill.
Not my fault.
Not my fault.
Surrender.
Don't go anywhere.
Stay there.
And I'm going to kick his weapon
if he had one to the side.
Yeah, he had two axes basically.
I'm going to kick him away from his boot.
Yeah, I'll put my boot on his back
and press him down into the ground.
Please, no more.
No more kill.
No more kill.
Peace, peace.
He could be useful.
Maybe we shouldn't do anything right now.
But just so you know, you, that we have the ability to squish you at any moment.
Yes, very strong.
Strong, strong, strong ones.
No trouble.
No trouble.
Let live.
Let live.
Who is Baraz?
Baraz is leader,
but was runt.
Came back strong after leaving.
Brought packs together.
Gave us, told us to find food.
Gave some of us powers.
I tell everything.
He has taken the house of red liquids.
He has taken it. The red water. The house of red liquids. He has taken it.
The red water. The house of red liquids.
The wine. The red water, yes.
Oh, the wine. That makes sense.
Yes. I'm with you.
With you.
Can you lead us?
Nah.
He just kind of like shuffles around on the floor like, they will kill me.
I can show you.
Show you where no
no no no no let live if you were to pay barriers yeah yes how many more of many
many packs
we could if we were to meet this barris
what would we find what is what is he like
he is
he only wishes to feed
he craves
food he consumes
food like none other
no matter how much we give him
he wants more always more
he
those who bring him the largest food are blessed with gifts How many of you are defending him right now?
And they are protecting the house of the red berries. I do not know how many he has, but he has guards and they are protecting
the house of the red water.
And then others have gone back to
the caves.
Now looky here, you. And I'm going to kneel down
and just try and be intimidating
as much as I can.
Okay, it's... When you get down to its level,
I mean, in the heat of battle, this
probably wouldn't have noticed. I mean, this thing stinks.
Its fur is matted and soiled,
its breath is rancid, like
rancid meat. It looks quite
starved, as if it's not eaten food
in a while, and it has this wild
look in its eyes.
And it has, like, the, yeah, like a face
of a hyena, kind of like the striped pattern
of a hyena, but it's bipedal, like a
humanoid, like it walks on two legs and
has hands and arms.
Its leathers that it's wearing seems to be like
some sort of tattered animal hide that it's
made itself.
How did you listen to me?
Just, I've got
something to tell you that you're going to
hold on!
I'm going to turn around and start gagging
elsewhere
I need someone else to do it
thoroughly unpleasant
can someone tell him to cause a distraction
for all the guards
outside of this person
he's not going to do that
why would he do that
I have an idea.
We could...
Hold on.
I'm going to use the messenger ring.
We could get some food and poison it
and get this gnoll to take it as tribute to this Baras Baras.
So if he eats the tribute and he poisons and...
That could work.
But we need to convince...
How much poison do we need?
Probably a lot.
It might also
not be like us,
you know, who could be otherworldly.
We don't know what it is.
Could be undead.
Small concern. You all look like shit. you know who could be otherworldly we don't know what it is could be undead small concern
you all look like shit
not being in an offensive way
you don't look very well
you've been a bit beaten up haven't you
yes
are we in the best position
right now
well we're in a good position
to start poisoning food not to raid this guy's
cave or wherever he is.
Red house. Red liquid house.
And attack him.
Should we find some way to
get a storage
of food?
I'm sure we can do that.
The nuns probably have stuff.
I think that we shouldn't let this guy
get near any of the other ones right now.
New party member?
Absolutely not.
He needs a wash.
I'm assuming you're all talking messenger ring still.
Still messenger ring.
I'm not bathing this
just for your benefit. Can one of the stronger people of this party I'm not bathing. Still messenger ring. I'm not bathing this.
Just for your benefit.
Can one of the stronger people of this party hold him, make sure he doesn't go anywhere?
I will.
His smell doesn't bother me.
Perfect.
It's kind of like wriggling under Aayla's boot.
I can't smell him anymore.
Please, please let me live.
I will go to the hills.
I will not trouble.
No more trouble.
You have one more task that we need of you before we release you.
We will give you a fair chance to live, okay?
This is your only shot.
It's to stay with us and do as we ask.
What do you want?
What do you want?
That, first of all, you need a bath
of some kind, because honestly,
if you're going to be around us...
What is bath?
You know, washing. Washing yourself?
You've done that. What is this?
What? You go into a body
of water, and you cleanse your
fur. Swim.
Fur? What?
Why would swim?
What? There is no river or lake here.
We'll show you. Don't worry. What do you speak of?
Don't worry. We'll figure it out.
And then we'll set you on a task
and then you will live. Okay?
This bath is not task.
It's part of it.
It's a multi-step procedure.
After this, you will survive.
I look very confused. You're saying things it doesn't understand
If you do what we say
It's common is broken at best
If you do what we say, you live
If you try and escape
You die
Prisoner?
Yes
It kind of looks like it is droop a little bit
You did try to eat me alive.
Just so you know.
It doesn't say anything more.
But it looks like it's not going to
give you any trouble immediately.
Good.
I go to Pat and then remember
how disgusting he is and then don't.
Where's the closest body of water
so we can clean him up?
We're doing that first, right?
No, no.
It's absolutely revolting.
Okay, Lucius, let me ask you this.
Do you want to go all the way back down the steps
where we came from in the first place?
You know the ones that you struggled to get up in the first place? Yeah. And then come all the way back down the steps where we came from in the first place. You know the ones that you struggled to get up in the first place? Yeah.
Well, this is a vineyard, right? And then come all the way back
up the hill.
All the way. If this is a vineyard, there'll be
this. You've not seen
any rivers or anything. You've not seen any
rivers or anything.
There'll be a way to clean these grapes
for preparation for wine.
Probably in the winery. What's the second
part of this plan?
Again, like Nova says, some form of... for preparation for wine. What's the second part of this plan?
Again, like Nova says, some form of... We just kill him, right?
We just kill him.
But we need a way to get to the Baraz, right?
Is the plan to poison a bunch of food
and hope that he picks it up?
I say either the poison method,
or we use him, this little
gnoll here, to say that
there are intruders, everyone should go
to a different place and then
we sneak in.
You know, he calls a ruckus.
If he's clean, then that's going to cause a problem.
Okay, fine. Maybe we
won't clean him.
All the other ones, they're dirty.
I have an idea. So so what if we again with the
food plan what if we present him with food but i put echo in the food and then when he eats echo
i then transform it into elko inside him oh wow would that not kill Echo as a point
this is an awesome idea
but when you don't transform
Echo into Elko you have to
summon Elko which comes from the matrix
oh it comes from me
exactly it's Echo's spirit
but bound in a new form
it's not polyp
what if he eats me
you're way too big for a meat.
You've never managed.
We don't know how big this creature is.
He might chew.
If he chews, then everything is ruined.
What if he just crunches your feet off?
Then you have no feet.
Yeah.
What if he crunches your head off?
Then you have no head.
That's also a good point.
I appreciate the blue sky thinking here.
I think we need to be more creative.
It's very good.
I'm trying something new.
Perfect.
So what are our options?
Quill, you're the most intelligent.
No offense to everybody else.
But you do lead us in these times when we are
you know at a
impasse we have great ideas from Nova
this guy said that
Baraz was looking for the berries
right and we're in a vineyard there must
be some place they haven't touched yet
we must be able to gather a huge
stash of food
maybe if we can find a way
to poison it,
can we poison it?
How would we do that?
There was a whole kitchen
that we talked to the nuns in
back when we first...
The big kitchen.
Remember when we talked to the Abbotess?
Big kitchen.
And the Abbotess might know as well.
I think we should just go there.
Yes.
Should we go there as a first point?
And we can recuperate.
I'm sorry, I'm just not intelligent enough
clearly to know this.
Quill, you make the decision.
You're clearly more intelligent.
I have an idea.
I think we should go back to the Abbotess.
Now that's why we have Quill as our leader.
He comes up with such great things.
I know.
I'm gonna pick up Nullboy and...
I think I have Roup on me.
Bard should not be leader. Metal Woman should be leader.
Or Flamehaired Woman should be leader. Strongest.
Yes!
Yes! Bard is weak off she's going back
down the path to where the monastery was
clearly is the superior
one yes I'm joking
this is so dumb can we take him back
now can we just
can we just go and then you can have a nap
let's go
you'll feel better after a nap
I've done a tutor I'm out
we'll go back there
you guys make your way back
moving some stuff around here
you guys travel back up the way you came
you head up the
pathways leading between the vineyards
Aayla and Sentry cajoling your
prisoner as you go.
Yeah.
And
you manage to make your way back.
I think as you arrive, you can
see that in the main chapel
the abbotess and
the nuns have started trying to
reform the
barricades as best as they can but they're kind of limited on
supplies they only have like wooden pews and beds and things like that um and they're kind of
reinforcing the door re remaking the the you know the bar that sits behind the doors and keeps it
shut and things like that um as you approach they see you coming coming and the Abates herself will kind of rush out
along with Sister Meredith like,
ah, you've returned.
Did you find the other girls?
You have come back very quickly.
We found a lot of gnolls.
Yes.
Some with interesting new powers
that gnolls normally don't have
however
like I mentioned yes
well there's a
big one called Baraz
who everyone is
sending food towards
no she doesn't actually say it that way
but this is all stuff that she told you before
she knows all this
well
basically we had to told you basically we
had to come back because um there was a bit of a beating taken here so we want
to heal up get our strength back of course yes that they are this normally
a knowledge is not a problem for us and the guards. You can see now why we were so quickly overrun.
They are not normal.
Some of them are rather mundane, but some of them are strange.
This is magic. I've never seen it before.
Ah, please do not bring that thing inside here.
They've caused so much death and destruction already.
Why? If you intend to keep it as a prisoner, I worry that... side here they've caused so much death and destruction already why if you
intend to keep it as a prisoner I worry that well say Anna would not want you to
kill it if it's surrendered but this is a holy place we keep it in the outhouse
or something or what is your God teach well certainly not that we should be
killing it if it's surrendered
Sayana is ultimately about
bringing light and joy
but also these things have
the other sisters
it will terrify them
this thing killed these creatures have killed
our gods
they tried to kill us, tried to eat us.
I'd rather that it wasn't brought into this...
This is a sanctuary.
This is our safety.
I don't mind keeping it for a sense.
The outhouse, we could lock it from the outside,
keep it in there if need be.
But I'd rather that it wasn't brought inside.
I'm sure you can understand.
That's fine.
I don't have a problem with that.
Let's put it in the outhouse.
Thank you.
Thank you.
It won't get out, right?
You're quite strong.
Well, if we tie it up.
We have some rope and things like that.
I'm sure we can bind it and tie its hands behind its back.
That sort of thing.
That sounds good. Let's like that. I'm sure we can bind it and tie its hands behind its back. That sort of thing. That sounds good. Let's do that.
And yes, if you need to recover,
of course, come in.
I'm assuming that you did manage
to kill all of the gnolls that you found.
None of them got away or anything. Yes?
This is the only survivor, yes.
Thank goodness.
And she just kind of like nods her head.
And yeah, you guys can take a...
What do you want to do?
Do you want to take a long rest or a short rest?
Or do you want to formulate your plan?
What's the plan here?
I would like to ask the Abbotess if she has any poison.
Poison.
Right.
Okay, you ask the nuns if they have any poison. The Abbot Right. Okay, you ask the nuns
if they have any poison.
The abbotess is like,
why on earth would we have poison,
Eganasi?
This is a monastery of Sayana.
I mean, no.
Well, first of all,
we would like not ideally poison any rats.
We would catch them
or we have a few cats
that normally take care of the problem,
but no.
I'm sorry, my dear,
we don't have poison here.
Perhaps, if anything, any rat poison that we did have would have been stored in the
winery, but
we don't have any here.
We have an idea.
I'm not sure it's the sort of thing that people
would just have on them.
Well, you might have
a little bit of ingredients that i could use like
maybe a bit of uh i guess i don't know soap powder or cleaning product or things like right
keep in mind fancy universe kim they don't have like dettol or bleach i mean like cleaning products
i mean like lye or something like that you know that you make right yeah they don't they don't
have lye they have soap they have soap they have bars of soap and like that Right yeah they don't have lye They have soap
They have bars of soap and things like that
But they don't have harder chemicals
Like lye and stuff like that here
Could I do like
I don't know some sort of check
That maybe I could MacGyver something
The M&E is going to say
Yes
But I'm going to say this would be
very difficult
you are trying to engineer a poison
out of ordinary things
even if you do succeed in making
something it's not going to be
lethal it's going to be
uncomfortable
at it's best
she's using Mr. Sheen
right okay yeah of course yeah the famous comfortable at its best. It will... She's using Mr. Sheen.
Right, okay, yeah, of course, yeah.
The famous adventurer Mr. Sheen and his magic cleaning product.
The adventurer
Mr. Muscle.
I appreciate the idea, but yes,
you are going to need, if you don't have any poison
on you, making poison
here is very difficult.
What if I just use a gone-off
healing potion?
Am I tracking
potions going off now?
Is that something you'd like me to start doing?
Dangerous game we're playing.
I didn't think so.
I'm just having a look through my equipment
seeing if there's anything I could, I don't know,
grind down or something like that like that
No sequester scroll
Yeah, let's grind down the sequester scroll and feed that to him
So you guys need a long rest short rest
I'm good
What sort of time with a long rest get us to? Yeah.
It's eight hours, isn't it?
Well, it's eight hours for a long rest.
Yeah.
But, you guys, it's probably about one, two o'clock now,
so you'd be looking at, yeah, like eight,
sorry, at like nine, ten p.m.
So you'd be looking at, it'd be late in the evening.
Evening's good for sneaking.
That's good sneak time.
Ask Century.
Sneak time for them, too.
Queen of sneak.
What's a gnoll sense of smell like?
Wait, what?
What was that, sorry?
What's a gnoll
scent and smell like
I mean you don't know
how would a scent you know that
you tell me
in gnoll juice
I was going to say if they can smell really well
then sneaking won't
I don't know like we'd have a hard time trying to sneak around if they could smell us.
Yeah.
For sure.
Yeah, you absolutely would.
I don't know if...
I mean, unless you guys can tell me why you guys would know how well a gnoll smells,
if any of you have encountered gnolls much before.
It's got a big nose.
Would it be, like, more of an animal kind of huntry assumption?
Yeah, you could make a nature check, for sure.
You could make a nature check for me.
Oh, I'm good at those.
Are you?
Plus six.
I think I'm good.
Nice.
I'm not as good.
I'm doing something on another tab, so tell me what you get.
Like result-wise.
I have an idea, but it's kind of really nasty,
and I kind of don't even know if I want to say it.
So my first one, so it was a 12.
12?
You know that gnolls are very pack-orientated creatures.
They tend to be very nomadic.
They don't stick around much.
Most of the time, I imagine that you'd know...
What knowledge you have of them comes from when you're in the clan
Knowles do tend to kind of raid
Wild-elf settlements and things like that for meat and for supplies and weapons
But they are normally skirmishes. They normally try and run in grab stuff and then they try and get out
They don't normally stick around for any sort of length of time. Certainly things like tactics and magic
Normally very beyond them. This whole thing is very unnatural the Knowles stick around for any sort of length of time certainly things like tactics and magic normally
vary beyond them this whole thing is very unnatural for gnolls i would say you don't know
how well their sense of smell and things is um they they they have you don't you i'd say that
you don't know that they have any supernatural senses to detect people but yeah like a skilled
gnoll scout will be just as good at
tracking somebody as you are
or another kind of woods person would be
and stuff like that.
So, do we
want to take a long or a short rest?
I think that
short rest would probably be best
in terms of rescuing nuns.
We haven't used any hit dice or anything, right?
So short rest makes sense.
Short rest?
Sure.
He's got a few spells, but
I've got enough to...
A few bits and pieces.
That's alright.
It's better than 10pm.
Short rest.
Short rest. Done.
Short to rescue Short rest. Done. Yeah, short rest.
Okay.
Yeah, I mean, you guys complete short rest.
You guys can do your hit points
and hit dice and stuff like that as you need to.
The amethyst will
probably help you put your
gnoll prisoner up in the outhouse,
securing his hands,
tying him up, and then, yeah then they kind of nail a big board to the front
of the outhouse to stop him getting out
basically
we're all just rolling hit dice
yeah I'm trying to do some other stuff so
I kind of need you guys to
do things while I'm doing this
I think this might just be an old fashioned raid I'm doing this. Rolling all the hit dice.
I think this might just be an old-fashioned raid.
I don't know how we're going to poison just a bunch of food.
We need to find the food first as well.
I could...
I've got invisibility for up to three people.
Or I could turn into a gassy form and just gas my way in there.
Yeah.
Options.
Gas the food. myself yeah and then you turn
into a giant century inside him like yeah I get inhaled by him as a gas and
then turn back into myself and stab him from the inside out great idea Let's do that. Perfect. You just explode his lung when you turn into Nova.
I don't like that plan at all.
Oh, I do have expedition to treat.
I am rolling garbage hit dice.
I rolled really well.
While you guys are getting prepared,
the nuns take their time.
You can see they're still treating each other's wounds
and desperately trying to just reinforce as best they can.
Most of them, like I mentioned this before,
but only two of them really seem to be
any sort of level of fighter.
The Abates and then one of the other sisters
seem to be the other sisters, seem to
be the main fighters, but both of them
are nursing pretty serious injuries.
The Abates' leg looks like it's probably
broken, and then the
other sister has several badly damaged
ribs. Something
that will take significant
time to heal, or magic,
in the form of the heal injury stuff.
Yeah, and if you guys spend an hour, like you
wait for an hour,
your prisoner is locked up waiting
his task that you've told him that you'll do.
And then, yeah.
What do you guys
want to do after you've finished your short rest?
I have
two ideas.
One, I can make myself and two of you
invisible and we sneak
and then I guess
we stab
the other one is
in the absence of poison
I feel really bad
for saying this
we could do something like maybe
get the food and put some things in it that's a
sharp like um i don't know broken broken glass um oh god i feel really bad saying this
like maybe snap up a dagger or something and hope it gets stuck in his throat like a toothpick
that happened to me once it was really bad are. Are you okay, Nova? Do you need
more rest? I think
yeah, I hit my head real bad back
there.
We also don't know
how big this guy is.
True. And some shards of glass.
I don't know how gluttonous
this creature is, this person.
But he might catch on quite quickly
that it is, you know, compromised food
and will just stop eating it.
Also, he eats
everything that stands for it.
Yeah.
Invisibility it is?
I think that's the best plan.
I think that sounds like a good idea.
We could use the gnoll
to cause a ruckus slash distraction
for the guards at the front.
Maybe lure them at least out of the way for those that aren't invisible to get in.
And then the invisible people could maybe find a separate route in as well.
Or go in the same way.
Something like that.
I just don't think we can rely on this random gnoll to do anything in our favor.
He just needs to cause a noise,
I think. All he needs to do
is turn up,
and then the guards will see it as suspicious.
The fact that he's alive and
heavily wounded, and
all of his friends are dead.
But I mean...
But maybe he could get them
to go away. He could be like hey over there
and then they go with him and bye
I struggle to communicate to him
so relying on him to do a task
might be difficult
I say we just use him to
throw him
Ayla could throw him
in front of the guards into a bush
the guards go and investigate what's going on there
invisible people go in.
He doesn't even need to...
I'm kind of strong-ish, but I don't think
throwing a gnoll is in my
usual wheelhouse of things that I'm good at.
But
Aayla is right, though. If we
send him in as a distraction,
what's stopping him from just saying,
oh, there's people coming in, they're invisible right now?
There's people right there.
That's a great question.
And I'm going to let you guys think about that on the break,
because it's time for a break.
You guys can have a think about what you want to do.
We're so close to a complete plan.
No, we're not.
So close.
I think I can actually turn four people invisible.
It's me plus three.
Damn.
Very cool.
Yeah, if you're casting it, it's like a fifth level spell.
I'm sure it's quite hard.
So that's two, three, four, five.
Yep.
Sorry, I missed it.
Perfect.
All right.
Well, let's have a little quick break,
and then we'll finish formulating the plan.
