Welcome back to Aroes.
Last time, the party have arrived at the Temple of Hesper, where deep inside something is conjuring the power to create powerful storms
that have ravaged the land of Voxar.
Reuniting with Johan, an ally who seems mysteriously connected to Quill
and the Valley of Storms itself,
they make their way inside and discover that they are
not the only visitors to the temple. A group of Valkyrian agents have slain a Sphinx guardian,
but before examining any details further, the group came under attack from corpses infused
with lightning magic and two powerful stone golems. After dispatching these enemies,
the spirit of the Sphinx, calling herself Zuhemi,
appeared and instructed the party that they must gain access to the Winds of Ascension
and complete trials to reach the inner sanctum where many answers will be found.
The very last thing, and I will cut back to all of you guys, the very last thing was after
exploring several parts of the temple,
including finding a magic book in a library,
you also discovered a chamber which seemed to contain wind pipes
or pipes built into the walls of the temple
that should have some sort of natural fresh air blowing through them.
Nova, using her ability to see through walls witnessed that a strange
young girl dressed very oddly seemed to be commanding something in the room beyond with
heavy chains hanging down from the ceiling after a bit of deliberation the party opened the doors
and found two large constructs magitek constructs advancing towards them these constructs
are uh maybe sort of seven eight feet tall humanoid roughly in shape but also with elements
that resemble a crabs they have these large armored carapace backs four arms and eyes on
little stalks coming out of helmed head sections.
And they
just march into the room and
we are beginning fully with initiative.
Now, I haven't quite put you
exactly where you wanted to be on the map, so if you want to do that
now.

So the room you're currently in,
there are four murals set onto the walls.
There appears to be a small shrine,
but also in each corner,
there are these pipes that are shaped almost like giant horns.
And they kind of seem to lead up into the walls and ceilings of the temple.
The two guardians have just emerged from a set of double doors
and you have a corridor
behind you and a corridor to the south.
The double doors lead
into a room you've not been into, but
Sentry did spy it using Echo.
Alright, let's go around
and do initiatives. Lucius, what did you get total?

these two automatons,
they are very clearly Valkyrian
Empire in nature. They have been
constructed in a similar way that you've seen
other mechanoids and creatures
built by the Empire in the past.
They bear the
Valkyrian symbol of the
stars and sword,
and they just march their way
in. Their little crab-like eyes seem to scan the room, and detecting several stars and sword and they just march their way in their little kind of crab

they split off one goes
towards Johan the other goes straight
for Sentry
bloody cramps
the heavy metal boots slam into the ground
and yeah they will basically
the first one
Sentry reaches for you two of its giant
arms uh try and uh
kind of claw you kind of
these giant pincers uh come down
whoops uh i'll throw that into my thing properly
uh that is going
to be a
22 to hit
just about yep just about hits
now this is on century johan i'll get to you
don't worry i'll get to you in a minute.
And then the second core is a 12, so that doesn't hit.
That's a no.
So that is going to be 10, 14 points of damage total.
10 normal and then 4 force damage.
As the core kind of grabs you
you feel like this vibrating magical
energy through its arms
almost as if the whole gauntlet is powered
with some sort of magical energy
and then finally for its last action
as it's kind of trying to grab sentry
with these giant claws one of its crab
like eyes looks over in Nova's direction
glows brightly
and a purple beam of force
fires towards Nova.
That is a 23 to hit you, Nova.
Might do a little bit of a hitty.
Might be a bit of a hitty.
It's going to be
14 points of force damage.
Lord. As that strikes into you and then johan
the same one tries to basically do the same
thing to you it's going to make two claw attacks against you
to start with
the first one is a 25
that'll do it yeah

As both claws hit you, Johan, one grabs you from either side.

as these two claws grip you firmly

and I feel that this is going to be somewhat irrelevant to you

As both of these claws grab you and pick you up,
you just feel lightning energy course through the methyl arms and body
from the carapace into your body.

So you take eight lightning damage as these okay you feel this shock of
energy run through your body um and then that was its third action uh so that is their go uh they
just continue their assault uh who is in that room uh nova as the only one who's currently not

kind of step out of the corridor and then to the side okay fair enough so you would still get the
attack of opportunity okay in that case i'll stand in the corridor just outside the room in front of
lucius and i'll do a beacon of hope so uh for the duration
each target has advantage on wisdom saves and death saves and you will regain the maximum points
from any healing so that's my action one action okay nice that's pretty you might be thinking a
prayer of healing i think and i may as well do a bonus action

these upgraded versions of that machine,
the very essence of the magic itself,
you see their carapaces,
these kind of like crab light armored
backs glow with a series of runes um so the damage is half so what was it sorry again i'm i'm trying
to keep track of stuff so they take three damage each um and you take the other three from both targets
you take six fire damage
as it sucks it in
and then there's a blast of magic
back
got it
you get to make a deck save against that

that's for the first one
and then for the second one
because they're both using the same thing

of acid, he's going to use this prismatic
gauntlet to try and absorb it.
After using
the prismatic gauntlet on
dichromancy to spend some of those charges
before that as well.
Let's go through this as

So as an action, you
cast Chromatic Orb Twinned,
right, on both targets.
Right? So that's your action.
Then, is...
Dicromancy just happens when you cast a spell, so that
would happen immediately. You would then spend the points
to do the extra damage. And then if
they reflect it back at you, because you've seen them
happen at once, maybe they can't do it multiple times, you don't
know, you're going to reaction use the prismatic alternator gauntlet
to try and absorb them in.
Absorb that acid back in.

Well, let's start with the main thing, which is making two attack rolls,
one against each target.

launch them forwards,
you see that the runes on the carapace
of these creatures' back is already
glowing, and it's cooling
down, so the acid orbs just
strike them both and just
coat them in acid. Whatever
spell reflection ability they had
was used up on the
spell from Johan.
Oh, cool.
So they don't reflect it back
at you, so unfortunately no alternator gauntlet,
but very, very cool. Lots of damage
as the acid kind of
begins to see it pit and melt parts
of the metallic shell
of these creatures.
Sentry.
Nice. I'm going to
channel divinity, and I'm going to channel divinity
and I'm going to do nature's wrath
on the one in front of me.
Okay.
What does that do?
So it causes spectral vines to spring up,
reach for a creature I can see within 10 feet of me
and that creature must exceed on a strength or dex save throw
or be restrained.

Strength or dex. Yeah. So it just says strength or decks or like do you get to pick or is it yeah so it just says strength or decks yeah it's choice okay oh it's choice okay in that case
that is a total of uh 17 for me oh just succeeded just succeeded was it dc 16
a 15 15 yeah so you watch as the spectral vines try and wrap around the giant crab-like creature
trying to hold it in place, but its just immense strength
kind of rips through as its giant pincers rip and tear at the spectral vines,
pulling itself free away from their force.

Can I cast Shield of Faith as a bonus action?
I believe you can, yeah.

you can see it partially illuminates this invisible cage that's been placed.
There's like walls on either side at the moment.

saving throws you just manage to kind of throw yourselves away as the force is kind of curved
back inwards the other creature will have to make a deck saving throw.
