Starting point is 00:01:23 Welcome back to Erois. Our heroes have been making their way through the Temple of Hesper in the Valley of Storms, seeking to put an end to the powerful storms that have dominated the land. Here they have been set several trials and encountered powerful enemies. After resolving the trial of Aeons, the party took some time to rest, but were rudely interrupted when an image of a mysterious woman appeared in front of them. Zarkira, ally of Calus Valkyrian and commander of his armies, proposed an alliance of sort, offering key information on how to destroy the Tempest Dragon at the heart of the temple and ensure it would not escape to cause havoc for
Starting point is 00:02:04 both sides of the coming conflict. Though this offer was laced with threats, Zarkira was not given what she desired. The party refused, with Nova, and I think maybe Aayla, telling her that if she was so desperate, she should come and resolve the matter herself. With a completed rest and short discussion about the encounter with Zarkira, the party moved on to the second trial, the Trial of Power. Here, they battled against an enraged and corrupted sphinx called Kuratas. Split up, they coordinated to bring down Kuratas and solve the trial, setting his spirit free and to rest.
Starting point is 00:02:39 They were rewarded with a blessing of magic, and now the party must make their way to the inner sanctum and face the Tempest Dragon once and for all. And that, my friends, is where we begin. We're gonna die! You had just finished...
Starting point is 00:02:59 I don't like that one specific detail brought out there. Yeah. If you're so concerned, do it yourself. That's what we told her. That's what we told her. That is what we told her. It is, yes. The last trial, the trial of power
Starting point is 00:03:11 ended with you remaining in the kind of shrine area that the Sphinx had occupied. And you heard the sound of grinding stone coming from below in the main temple where you had come from. This powerful wind current that had lifted you up into the trial areas now seems to be offering a way back down into the main temple body itself.
Starting point is 00:03:38 You had all gained the benefit of a long rest and now are coarsed, you know, infused with this blessing that you were given, which gives you the benefits of a hero's feast as well as the lingering effects of the Trial of Aeons as well. What, my good friends, would you like to do? Yeah, so for everyone's benefit and audience benefit, the
Starting point is 00:03:59 boons that we currently have is advantage on age saves, I don't know if that's going to be a thing in the next fight. 1d8 to initiative and a mote of advantage, or as we like to call them, the other thing. Inspiration. Inspiration. We've got one inspiration. And the other thing was immune to poisoned and frightening, advantage on wisdom saves,
Starting point is 00:04:28 and also plus 11 to our max HP. So we're pretty tanked after these trials. Benefit of the Hero's Feast, yes. Very good spell. Yeah. Which means the next one's going to be a breeze, right? Yeah! Yeah! Nothing to worry about.
Starting point is 00:04:44 It's going to be fine. So... No sex to doubt. I'm slamming the X button right now. Is everyone feeling rested? Is everyone ready to go? I mean, it's the last thing. It's what we're here for.
Starting point is 00:05:00 We're blessed by all these trials. I mean, Zarkira calls it the hardest thing ever so i mean we need to be already we need to all be together as a team to do this so um i wonder given just the things that zarkira said to us and also just given the nature of the trials that we've faced here today these few days, however many days, it feels like we've been here a long time I feel like this isn't going to be
Starting point is 00:05:34 a straight fight, I think we should keep in mind that there may be another way to approach this there may be another way to release this dragon from corruption so just I guess keep an eye out for that rather than just hitting the thing. I mean, hit the thing, but also think about why we're here.
Starting point is 00:05:55 I'm going to need you to be real clear on when I should and shouldn't hit things. How about you hit the thing while we figure out stuff? Yeah. Zarkira wants us to either destroy the creature or finish the spell so that she has full control of it. That cannot happen. We cannot let Zarkira win this. We have to break the spell completely on the dragon.
Starting point is 00:06:22 Let it be free and on our side. Is there anything you can do as a way to hair? Just so that... Yeah. In advance? Quill? Sorry? What? Is there anything you can prepare in advance?

I'm wary of using too much of my magical energy before we go in there.
Starting point is 00:07:01 Just so we're on the same page, Quill, I mean, this is your trial with Hesper. Are we looking to Just so we're on the same page, Quill, I mean, this is, you know, this is your trial with Hesper. Are we looking to kill the dragon or are we looking to free it of corruption? What should we be aiming for? Freeing it, completely freeing it. Like I said, Zarkira wants us to kill it
Starting point is 00:07:20 as one of her options, and we can't let that happen. Maybe the dragons will like us a bit more if we save a dragon bonus points right i don't want to think about the dragons i mean it's also worth us contemplating not delaying anything afterwards we could revel in our victories or our failures however zarkira is going to act immediately based on what we do afterwards, and I think we need to protect those that are in danger after that.
Starting point is 00:07:53 Very true. You're all my priority. I'll do whatever I can to make sure we get through this. Even if we send out messages to those that are close to us and potentially a threat to Zokira or just a bargaining chip that might be worthwhile they can prepare themselves just a thought so you guys fought a space space worm and you've met other dragons who are you people busy busy people well technically the dragons did come to us but then we were kind of in their space
Starting point is 00:08:36 so it's it's sort of a 50 50 meeting i suppose we accidentally ran into some dragon people. Purely accidental. It happens. It's confusing. And you're also here. Well, I guess you've proved you can handle yourself. So this should be easy then,
Starting point is 00:08:59 if you've met some other dragons, surely. On the word easy, a peal of thunder does kind of ripple through the temple. We didn't actually fight the other dragon people, so, you know. Thankfully. We don't know what power they possess.
Starting point is 00:09:22 Anyway. Let's all look up and go down look up to the optimism and go physically down right okay I understand make sure not to mix the two up that's right don't look down wait I'm confused.
Starting point is 00:09:49 Lead the way, champion of Hesper. Yeah, before I do, I will cast aid at 4th level on me, Lucius, and Johan. Okay. Lucius and Johan. Okay. Which means you will gain 15 to your maximum hit points.
Starting point is 00:10:13 So you'll have 26 increased from the Hero's Feast as well. 15. It does stack. An extra 15 on top of the 11 you already have. Almost 100 HP I've got 112 quick DM question
Starting point is 00:10:32 how quickly can I deal 100 points of damage is the question bring it on bring it on not them bring it on to me if i if i twin spell haste can i have two people hasted while concentrating uh i believe you can because i believe haste only normally targets one creature
Starting point is 00:10:59 but if you lost concentration you would lose it on both targets. On both, of course. Yeah, okay. Good to know. Nice. Very interesting. Just remember that when you lose haste, Ravs, whether through loss of concentration or spell ends, it does stun the people. So that is a downside. Hey, don't bring it on to me.
Starting point is 00:11:18 Don't bring it on to us. No, that's fine. I retract my statement. It's just a reminder that there is a downside to haste. Which I always forget about as well. So I'm saying now so chat and you can hold accountable. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:34 So when the spell ends, the target can't move or take actions until after its next turn. So it's pretty, it's basically you're out for potentially a whole turn. Right. Well. Right. Well.
Starting point is 00:11:48 Okay. Okay. Let's not do the metaphorical looking at, well, let's not physically look up and go down. Let's actually look down and go down. But mentally look up. Optimistically, like Lucius was saying. Okay.
Starting point is 00:12:01 Everyone ready? Ready. Ready. Ready. Yeah? What? Yeah. Perfect.
Starting point is 00:12:11 No, great. Everyone, let's go. Cool. You, yeah, you guys make your way back to the golden disc and the kind of opening hole that seems to stretch down this kind of long air tunnel. And as you step into it, the wind current, as you all kind of step in and begin floating, the wind current slowly drops
Starting point is 00:12:30 gently lowering you down back into the large main temple of Hesper, still ruined as it once was when you first arrived and you can hear the storms outside growing more and more violent
Starting point is 00:12:45 raging as thunder and lightning flashes echo from the entrance but where there was once at the very back of the temple a giant statue of hespa the base of it has now opened up to reveal a kind of corridor leading deeper into the mountains so deeper and deeper away from the entrance of the temple itself I'm waiting to see if there's any I'm assuming you guys step in there but if there's any I'm following Quill I think we're all following quill yeah okay yeah we're
Starting point is 00:13:31 pretty much taking his lead sure well if quill steps into the corridor begins making his way down after a short distance the corridor which is maybe about sort of 10 feet wide um seems to stretch on you can see that the corridor has a set of statues on either side in alcoves then 30 feet down there's another set of statues on either side different figures in both in in in all of the alcoves and then after that second set of statues the corridor becomes filled with a thick gray fog that seems to crackle with black and purple lightning very similar to the corrupting lightning that you've seen uh elsewhere in the temple um but you see these yeah there's this uh like corridor leading down alcoves on either side about 30 foot apart with two figures each and then the next set and then the fog immediately starts after them.
Starting point is 00:14:27 As we pass some of that goo stuff, I'll be like, sorry about the whole attacking you on crazy gooey lightning thing. Quill. It always came over me. It's the corruption. It's the kind of thing that's now affecting the dragon. But we found a way to remove it from you.
Starting point is 00:14:47 Maybe it'll work for the dragon too. Fingers crossed. What do you want to do, Quill? This fog is so thick you can't see beyond it. It's almost like a thick grey wall of mist that crackles with power and is blocking your path.
Starting point is 00:15:06 What's everyone else doing as well? Not just Quill, but is anybody else doing anything? Examining anything? Anybody wants to take any actions? Walking with trepidation. Could I use my storm guide to try and part the mist?
Starting point is 00:15:24 How does it work? Let me know. You can control the does it work let me know uh game but you can sort of control the weather behind you if it's raining you can stop the rain uh if it's windy you can use a bonus action each round to change the direction the wind blows so just sort of like part the wind right down the middle try blow the the mist there's no there's not a super strong wind at the moment in here but uh if there was a wind, you could definitely control it. But right now it's almost still air. I mean, you can see the fog is moving and shifting. And I would say that, yeah, probably Ayla, Kilek, Johan
Starting point is 00:15:55 would all recognize that this is fairly natural looking fog, but it just has this corrupted magic flowing through it. But yeah, there's currently no wind for you to control, unfortunately, Johan. It's just still air right now. It's a bad time to not have any wind spills. This isn't going to hurt us, is it? This fog
Starting point is 00:16:17 will have any corrupting influence on us. We don't want to walk into something that's going to make us as bad as this dragon. The healing magic seemed to help with the corruption perhaps. Some similar type of thing. Can you
Starting point is 00:16:38 heal some mist? Is that something that you can do? I'm going to look around at the wall. I mean, maybe? Nothing is impossible. Can I cast light on my hand and just move it towards the mist and see if it
Starting point is 00:16:58 dissipates with that or... It doesn't dissipate and as you get closer and closer to the mist quillill you can definitely feel that there is uh there is some eldritch power there it begins to kind of crackle the air becomes uh like ozone um and you know how how far are you going to go are you going to actually stick your hand into the fog or well it does not seem to be passing. Okay. But when you walk, as you get closer, yeah, you do notice the statues have various figures and things like that,
Starting point is 00:17:30 but they don't appear to be doing anything in particular. They don't appear to be gesturing in any certain way. The fog almost seems to be emanating from something further down in the corridor and is filled up to this point. Okay. Can I use Gust then? Gust is like five feet.
Starting point is 00:17:48 Double as strong. Well, yeah. Yeah. If he creates wind, I can Stormguide at 20 feet with Stormguide. Okay. So in that case, yeah. So Quill, if you summon this Gust... I can also cast Gust with the Howling Tempest,
Starting point is 00:18:03 so I could assist if I i so the three of you together so ayla using the hammer quill summoning gust with magic and then johan almost beginning to control and enhance and amplify that wind kind of 20 feet sections at a time um you can part the mist and clear it uh how are you guys going to move ahead and then have the other three kind of follow behind you tightly packed? Or are you going to try and move together? Coordinate this. The mist does seem to be rapidly
Starting point is 00:18:31 refilling the area that you clear it from. It's almost beginning to filter back in. Could I be flying and gusting the ground so it surrounds, not flying super high, but hovering by the party and flapping gusting the ground so it surrounds like in a, not flying like super high but like hovering by the party and flapping downwards so the wind kind of
Starting point is 00:18:49 surrounds and coats the wall. Coral's only about 9 feet high so you can be kind of like flying at the top of the corridor but yeah it's going to have the same effect as gust really. You can move forward but it's going to be tightly packed. Because as Johan is diffusing it it then quickly begins seeping back in
Starting point is 00:19:08 but I think between you and Ayla you can both rapidly keep these conjuring these blasts of wind to keep the fog at bay if you want to it's a 100 foot radius sorry not 20 foot for the wind in that case you clear a much wider
Starting point is 00:19:24 alleyway almost create pushing the fog to the side um but yeah so it clears it's slowly refilling um but you can move down you see as you move down the corridor there are more and more of these statues um there are two as you move down that uh quill and nova would recognize or fact, most of you would recognize one of them. The third pair of statues, Quill and Nova, you recognize the woman that you had seen in the past during the Trial of Aeons. You see a high elven woman with quite prim and proper cheekbones,
Starting point is 00:20:02 like very regal looking, long hair, dressed in scholar's robes. You recognize it as Evian Elanastu, who was the arcanist you met in the Trial of Aeon's Past. There is an inscription on the base as well, which has their name written in common. You see various other statues. If you move further down, the next set of statues, one of the figures appears to be Phaedrus Celador,
Starting point is 00:20:28 who was the arcanist that conducted the Trial of Aeons as well. And these all seem to be statues of individuals. And there's multiple different ones. You see like a gnome, a dwarf, various different elves and humans. They all seem to be people who have achieved great things, either for the Church of Hesper, or mages who have unlocked, you know, who have had great accomplishments
Starting point is 00:20:51 and have been kind of acknowledged in this corridor as you make your way down there. Do you guys stop and pause at any of them, or are you just going to keep going? I guess I'd probably pause at the um elasto statue and um just uh tug on lucius's uh cloak and be like look lucius um she's what no ow please don't hit me, ow. This is your great-great-great-great-great-grandmother? Great-great-great-great-great-great? This is the lady we saw in the past.
Starting point is 00:21:36 She's beautiful. I see where I get my looks from. I mean, what about your voice? There is an inscription. get my looks from. I mean, what about your eyes? There is an inscription. So it reads Hyarcanist Evian Elanasto Mistress of the Illusory Arts
Starting point is 00:21:56 Scholar of the Unknown is what the inscription reads. What does it read for Phaedrus? Sorry. For Phaedrus it reads, High Arcanist Phaedrus Celador, Oracle, Master
Starting point is 00:22:11 of Time, they who found themselves. Cool. In order to be permanently celebrated like this, she must have done some potent work here. Been part of something important. Have you not heard of her before at all? I mean, even with your sorceress teachings, an illusionist this powerful to be celebrated by Hesper in his
Starting point is 00:22:46 own temple. Strange that teaching wouldn't reach you. It's absolutely, it's been taught to me, but family stuff is quite early on in an elf's life, where you're learned about where you came from and everything that's happened before you, and you should be thankful for everything
Starting point is 00:23:02 that you've got. Stop drawing on the walls, Lucius. And focus. I got that a lot. And unfortunately some of this stuff I'm showing more appreciation of now. Definitely. Yes, some of it was
Starting point is 00:23:18 forgotten. I mean, judging by Nova, I think, and Quill, judging by the amount of statues here i mean evian el anasto would have been very very long time ago you know we're talking pre not just pre-valkyrian war but long before that as well this would have been in the early days of eros almost you know from judging by generations and things like that so yeah we're talking a very very distant ancestor of lucius's but with the combined gusts from the howling tempest and and johan's storm magic and johan's almost you know quill is you were following quill when you stepped in here but as johan is the
Starting point is 00:23:58 one parting these fogs you know by the wind generated by ayla and Kelek, Johan is beginning to not quite glow, but you begin to see a kind of aura, a very hazy, magical aura beginning to emanate around Johan as he takes every single step towards the end of this corridor. It seems to get brighter and brighter and almost becoming like a guiding light, like kind of leading the way splitting this corrupting fog as he steps forward until eventually you come to a small antechamber
Starting point is 00:24:33 a huge pair of doors fill the wall ahead on the front of uh on the floor in front of the door you can see a sort of carved engra engraved, arcane circle with small tubes of air in the bottom of it, very similar to the stone basin in the main temple. The circle is then ringed by eight smaller circles, each one containing the symbols
Starting point is 00:24:57 of the different schools of magic. Do you see this? Johan, what spell are you casting? Dude, why are you glowy? You're really glowy and shit. What? It must be a side effect of the mists. I suppose I'm at the forefront of it.
Starting point is 00:25:22 So you're not willingly doing this? You're not willingly doing it. You're not buying it. Must be some form of spell down here. Honestly, it's just... this happens all the time. Honestly. It happens all the time. It's just magic stuff, Lucius. I'm going to say this with the greatest of respect. When are you gonna start being honest with us? The truth is... I really do not know.
Starting point is 00:25:59 I find that answers might give you some sort of comfort, but I truly do not know the meaning of this. I've told you, my mind has been clouded. Ever since this storm has come, I do not know. I wish I had truths to share with you. It's almost like a very bizarre déjà vu. Like when I saw Phaedrus. A memory of them came rushing back to me. When I saw...
Starting point is 00:26:38 Zarkira. I felt fear. And now I'm glowing, I suppose. I'm not quite certain. What about this corridor, surrounded by all these master arcanists? Do any of them bring you any memories? Just like with Phaedrus, Johan, it's that kind of... Yeah, strange sense of déjà vu.
Starting point is 00:27:03 Faces you recognise, but no idea why. Kind of like a stranger you may have passed in town. It feels quite similar to that. You know, I've seen their face, but I'm not quite certain who they are. I worry. Do you feel okay? You don't feel dizzy or faint? Can I touch your forehead?
Starting point is 00:27:32 Are you feeling hot? Are you warm? How are you doing? A little bit chilly, I suppose. A little chilly. It's almost like sentry. When you touch your hand, it's almost like... It's like placing your hand against a statue
Starting point is 00:27:47 in a thick mist. It feels clammy almost, but there's a warmth there as well. Something shrouded in fog or air. Moisture. As if he's been at sea. Are you okay? Do you need a warm blanket?
Starting point is 00:28:07 I've got a spare cloak. Shall I wrap you up? How about that? You're a bit clammy. You're too kind. A fever? A sentry. I think I'm okay. Okay.
Starting point is 00:28:20 I think I'm okay. Well, give me a shout. If you feel unusual, if you don't feel right in any way, I'm here. Just put your hand up and go, sentry! And I will come rushing. I will. I will. She will, by the way.
Starting point is 00:28:37 You better. Yeah. I'm worried that this clouding has been intentionally placed upon you, Johan, and that you were part of something that happened here. I don't know why you've been left. I'm glad you are, don't get me wrong, but you've been left
Starting point is 00:28:55 here on your own, alive, for so long. Why? Unless you've sacrificed something in order to stay alive and stave off the evil for now it must have been something from that Sarkira woman we saw
Starting point is 00:29:15 I don't know that reaction was much more than seeing Phaedrus it was an intense fear. It's why I covered behind the pillar. Maybe she done this to me. Right. But if you can search, keep trying.
Starting point is 00:29:38 Not too hard. Not too hard. I know what that's like. Stop it. Try when you can. Let's focus on the task ahead as well. The task ahead is a pair of steeled stone doors. The only thing of note in this antechamber is this kind of engraved stone circle on the floor.
Starting point is 00:30:00 Very similar to the basin in the main temple. There were pipes of air leading to each school as well right the stone circles with the schools of magic just seem to kind of be on the outside of the larger ring it doesn't have tubes of air connected to them or anything like that
Starting point is 00:30:20 you can feel a faint breeze coming from the kind of holes in the bottom of the arcane circle. Okay. Is this a case of just like with the last trial, casting every school of magic we can find? Or, I mean, again, Johan, any memories of this?
Starting point is 00:30:50 Okay, okay. Can I conjure mage hand, which is conjuration, and have the hand touch the relevant circle? Doesn't, No reaction. No response there. Unlike when with the crystals in the Trial of Power, it doesn't seem to react.
Starting point is 00:31:14 Was it mentioned that this dragon was sealed off? Imprisoned? I forget. Is the door open? Is it unlocked? The door is closed. No, the door is closed. I mean, there's no handles. There's no handles Is the door open? Is it unlocked? The door is closed. No, the door is closed. Yeah, it's...
Starting point is 00:31:27 I mean, there's no handles. There's no handles to the door. It's just... You can see this large stone pair of doors set into the wall, almost carved from the stone itself. But they're shut. What if we push real hard?
Starting point is 00:31:39 Yeah, if we just push it, does it just open? I'll try. Like pushing against a mountain. You know, it's like... Is there a center to it, this glowing circle? It's not glowing. It's just engraved in stone.
Starting point is 00:31:54 But there is a center, yeah. You can see there's symbols of Hesper in the middle of it. Am I still glowing? Vaguely, yeah. But it's dimmed down now that you're no longer controlling and pushing the fog away. Okay. And you said it's a little... There's a little breeze in the storm.
Starting point is 00:32:15 Yeah, there's a little breeze, yeah. Okay. Can I move up to the edge of it and try to, like, pull this wind up? Mm. So as you do and you kind of conjure that wind uh using the the storm powers the wind becomes much stronger and you can feel it kind of pushing up uh very similar to the way that when you activated the wind shoots in the main temple when you activated
Starting point is 00:32:36 that system the stone basin was filled with air and it's all angled so that the wind currents are centralised around a single point in the middle. Quill. This might be for you. This next step. Okay. Stay close to me, I don't want to go in here on my own. Definitely don't want to go in here on my own. Okay.
Starting point is 00:33:02 I'll walk into that whole hot mess cool you step in and the wind's kind of uh you know your cloaks and your your feathers are all ruffled by the pressure of the wind as it surrounds you and as it does the kind of whistling wind that surrounds you kind of turns into a single, pure note. Almost like the most perfect note you have ever heard. And all around you becomes still. Your companions, mid-movement, just seem to freeze in place as if time stops around you for a moment. Time stops around you for a moment, and you see, stood in front of the doors,
Starting point is 00:33:55 a older, white-haired, beard speckled now with more white and grey, figure in white robes with one celestial, angelic wing, the other one now gone,. Wilted, faded. Clutching a staff. One eye glowing as Hesper turns around. You've made it. This is the last step. It was close for a while.
Starting point is 00:34:21 Those trials you set, by the way, they're tough. Really tough. They weren't entirely set by me, Keylike. They were the guardians to make sure that whoever came here was ready. You'll need to use what you learned during them. And this, your gestures to the door. Okay. Ah.
Starting point is 00:34:50 I'm sorry about all the people you've lost along the way. The people we met in the trials. All these statues. You must miss them all greatly. I am... Keelec. I may appear... humanoid to you. I am... Keelek, I may appear humanoid to you,
Starting point is 00:35:09 but I have lived a very long time. I would have... Immortal life is a difficult thing for me to fully understand. I appreciate these people while they live, their successes, but I cannot mourn their loss. It is inevitable.
Starting point is 00:35:25 This is something that an immortal being learns. Your kind pass from this world. They begin withdrawing into the sides of the mountain itself. Just going to be standing there holding the one light. I knew that would work.
Starting point is 00:36:53 Fantastic. Well done. Yeah. Okay. Good. As the doors open, flashes of lightning, the rumble of thunder, and the smell of ozone shock your senses.
Starting point is 00:37:12 As you look upon the creature restrained at the center of this enormous space, giant chains of blue energy space. Giant chains of blue energy cross the body of a dragon. A larger dragon than any you have ever seen.
Starting point is 00:37:36 Its scales appear to be a myriad of colors. White, silver, various shades of blue and gray. But each scale is almost like a miniature storm cloud it shifts and moves in color and pattern lightning arcs across its body with each labored breath but things are very clearly wrong with this being deep wounds cover its body, and shards of black metal and crystal embedded in those wounds are covered with strange glyphs. They stick out like broken blades.
Starting point is 00:38:14 Each wound has sealed around these fragments, and the scales of them have turned black and midnight blue. The lightning that flashes over those scales are white in stark contrast dark pools of crackling black energy ooze out like blood and form oily puddles around the chamber the large chains of magic flicker as the dragon roars and thrashes its body around it almost seems to break free for a second before the chains reform and bring it back into its restrained state you can see its face twisted in agony one of these shards embedded in its eye completely covering the side of its face as it just roars and cries out in agony the thunder booms once more there's the tempest dragon roars
Starting point is 00:39:07 it seems to kind of surround the chamber you can see thick gray fog overhead forming like a storm cloud above and as you step in if you step in the doors will begin to close behind you and that my friends is where we will roll initiative ah oh boy I wasn't expecting
Starting point is 00:39:38 a chained down dragon this is weird okay I have some more information for you once we have initiative sure everyone gets plus eight on their initiative rolls remember oh you're right that's one d8 I rolled a natural 20 y'all so I got 22 nice so key like total 19 or is that 20 I'll just go down to give you your titles. 26 total for Kelec.

Three creatures almost begin to phase out around these dark black crystal blades that are embedded into the dragon itself they become like formless black nightmares swirling masses there's a vague humanoid, but it's obscured by this
Starting point is 00:41:05 kind of writhing mass of darkness. They're semi-transparent. They don't seem to fully be within this realm as they begin to emerge. You can see the dragon is straining against these magical chains, which honestly look like they could break at any moment.
Starting point is 00:41:22 They look ready to just completely... The magic seems to be ready to become completely undone. Johan, memories begin to stir. I will tell you now, Johan, that you
Starting point is 00:41:41 can take up to three other creatures and enter the dream of this dragon. You are able to take up to three beings into the dragon's dream. Only you can take them, and you're not sure how to take people back once you are inside. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:02 But I will tell you that information now. Oh, shit. So, Kelek, very suitably, you are first. So, looking at these chains, like, they're
Starting point is 00:42:20 just ready to break at any time. I'm mainly focusing on these weird, amorphous blobs that have just appeared, and also all these lightning blobs all over the ground and covering the dragon. I kind of want to cast... The pools of black
Starting point is 00:42:35 oily substance are very similar to the ones from the Trial of Power. These kind of pools of crackling magic. They don't look particularly harmful. In fact, they kind of almost radiate energy. They are all kind of bled out from where the dragon has been stuck by these kind of black crystalline shards
Starting point is 00:42:55 that have covered in magical glyphs. Okay. Can I cast Aura of Vitality? Yes. So within 30 feet of me, any creature I can choose with a bonus action gets 2d hit, 6 hit points. I guess for this first one,
Starting point is 00:43:16 I want to try and heal the dragon in some of the wounds in some way. So the dragon, when you reach out with the healing magic to try and heal the dragon, the magic will almost instantly be absorbed by one of the three shards
Starting point is 00:43:34 that are sticking out of it. Okay. I tried removing the corruption, we need to destroy the shards in some way, it's taking all of my magic away. It's not taking it. It's absorbing it like the healing would be basically
Starting point is 00:43:51 assigned to one of the three wounds that these shards are attached to. It's not negating the healing, is what I mean. But it's not going to the dragon? I mean, it is, but it's just there are these three epic wounds. You can't just heal its hit points as one total, is what I mean.
Starting point is 00:44:09 Okay, fair enough. Think of it as having three hit point pulls. Sure. Yeah. So that's my action bonus action, and I will, I think... Starting point is 00:45:57 It's not language. It's like components of a spell. Almost like... Not components, but like... Funneling magical energy like you would carve runes on a wand or carve runes on a magic sword it's like an enchantment um but you can't read it it's got that would be something like the identify spell or i mean to understand what it does it would require something like the identify spell or or something like that. Yeah, I've got that, but only as a... If we could just take ten minutes so I could cast a ritual,
Starting point is 00:46:30 that would be great, guys, if you could just deal with... What I'm going to do is fire a tentative Eldritch Blast at the Shard. Starting point is 00:47:13 the shard seems to kind of reverberate with the violent action, and the area that Keylight had healed suddenly becomes black again. Okay. Not that. Not that. the opposite of that sorry quill um and then so there's three um nightmares as well like or like kind of nightmarish you can call i think nightmare is a cool thing to call them we can call them nightmares uh yeah there are these three writhing things okay um can i shoot a second tentative beam at the nearest nightmare
Starting point is 00:47:53 so that is a natural one so uh plus nine is a ten so second one goes just your aim is off it strikes up towards into the the mist above you duality of these dice and by the way i've gone back to using our gemstone dice i rolled a natural 20 on the third beam again rolling damage the beam has no effect it's almost because it's partially see-through the beam passes through it does strike it but it just uh as if it's not quite of this world uh oh yeah i see okay anything else over i have my theories about what's going on here but um i don't know you guys can call out to each other in character you You can talk in character and be like, I think it's this. But if not, it's Sentry's Game. Okay, so think about the trials that we've been through. We've seen the corruption before.
Starting point is 00:48:54 I have a feeling that these nightmares might not be a part of this plane. And do you know what? I'm going to get near one. I'm going to go near one. Starting point is 00:49:29 Can I move up to here to where the dragon the and try and get a closer look at the glyph on the dragon's leg maybe try and do like a medicine check on it and see if i can maybe see if pulling the glyphs out would do anything ah then you make a check for that. So where these wounds, where these kind of shards have embedded into the dragon's flesh, over years, the dragon's body has tried to heal around them, and it's actually kind of fused around the shard. And where these corrupted black scales, almost like an infection, has spread out around the wound,
Starting point is 00:50:04 it's become incredibly hard and thick. You don't think you'd be able to pull that shard out. Even with Aayla's strength, you don't think you'd be able to pull that shard out until the healing has been, or like, you know, it's been healed in that area, you think. Okay. Starting point is 00:53:24 you begin to see the lightning building in power. Ayla? I'm going to go over to Johan, and I will use my bonus action to rage, and I will hold the rest of my action to attack one of these things if he transports me close enough to them.
Starting point is 00:53:50 When? If and when. Because I know I can't do anything else just now. Sure. Okay. Lucius. I'll do very similar. I'll move up in range of Johan. Okay, so the way that the held action works is as soon as you are next to johan
Starting point is 00:54:06 johan's held action goes off which is the three of you find yourselves as you kind of get within johan you can see concentrating and johan you kind of reach out and your consciousness connects with that of the the writhing enraged dragon. And all four of you feel yourselves kind of pulled in to another plane of existence. Spatially, it's the same as the current location you're in. The visuals are very different. The dragon that kind of rests before you is kind of clutching its own mind it's not
Starting point is 00:54:48 bound by chains instead it's kind of clutching its own mind uh kind of tossing and turning enraged and you can see around it you can see forces of valkyrian's army slaughtering civilians and innocents you can see lich phaedrus just decimating students and scholars of the temple itself all of these horrific images kind of becoming reality around the dragon taunting it um with terrible horrible things that have happened and all the while there is this kind of malevolent presence in the space, this kind of dark entity, feminine in nature, that looms over its all, whispering, Yes, give in. Join me. I will make it go away.
Starting point is 00:55:35 I can save you. It's a kind of prevalent whisper that's constantly going on. That's you. So, Lucius, now you get your action as you emerge in this other space. I believe Aayla's goes first. Oh, that's true. You emerge in the space where you are. There is, but you have no range to it.
Starting point is 00:55:53 You are not close enough to make a melee attack next to it. So you basically emerge in the same space, unfortunately. He doesn't teleport you any closer. Right. So I will do my action then which is to chromatic orb going to twin it and hit the two closest nightmares are they nightmares now or are they like scenes they look so they are beings you can see they're not scenes um they are presiding over the scenes so you can see that they are almost like puppet masters they are not scenes um they are presiding over the scenes so you can see that
Starting point is 00:56:26 they're almost like puppet masters they are a bit more they are more together they seem more real these kind of long tentacled monsters with these uh like six or seven eyes and they're just kind of reaching these tentacles out and making the things, these images, these nightmares appear around it. And they seem to notice you. They kind of sense you there, these kind of alien-looking minds twisting and looking in your direction. All right. But yeah.
Starting point is 00:56:53 As I cast this acid, by the way, at fourth level, twinned, I'll be shouting to the dragon, do not give in, we're here to save you. And I rolled a 26 on the first one. That is a hit against the first one. And it's like 19 acid damage. Correct.
Starting point is 00:57:18 Again, it's 22. And I seem to strike it. 22 on the second one is also a hit and it would be 19 damage it's the same damage for both attack rolls unfortunately different attack rolls get the same damage that was a good roll
Starting point is 00:57:34 it was unfortunately and then Dicromancy yeah so that's 8 points to the closest one the closest one is yeah yeah they both seem to be struck by these and then yeah they just points to the closest one is. Yeah. They both seem to be struck by these and then they just

Starting point is 00:58:37 This long, stretching tentacle. Right. We need to get rid of these nightmares. Well, as useless yells that, this one moves to... Useless. Useless. Lucius.
Starting point is 00:58:55 That one doesn't move. It's going to attack the Freudian. One of them kind of just drifts over towards you, Lucius. And the other one is going to move closer to the middle. So the one next to Nova and Johan is going to make two tentacle attacks, and it's going to target Nova with both of them. That is a 26 to hit Nova. And then a 19 to hit.
Starting point is 00:59:29 Exactly on. 19 is my AC. Both hit, unfortunately. That is going to be 11. 17 points of bludgeoning damage from the first one. And then 19 points of bludgeoning damage from the second one. As these two powerful tentacles kind of slam into you
Starting point is 00:59:47 feeling very real in this space and you just begin to hear these horrible whispers these kind of just like failure why did you let them die they're dead because of you voices kind of infecting into your mind
Starting point is 01:00:03 Lucius one moves up to you and does the same thing. Two attacks. That is going to be 15 to hit. Yeah. 15, so both hit. Unfortunately, both rolled 15s. So the first one is only 7 points of bludgeoning damage. That was a very bad roll on my part.

And then the last one, Sentry and Quill, it actually moves kind of closer, and you can see these kind of glowing eyes appear in the writhing mass. And Sentry,

At the end of the round that crackling lightning that was kind of all over the walls surges through only those who are on the material plane which is quill and sentry at this point I need you both to make dexterity

The path seems to surge through the floor, along the walls, along the body of the dragon. Not through the air, but actually along the stone walls and the body of the dragon itself.
Starting point is 01:02:20 Okay. As it just kind of surges through. Then everybody who is in the dream realm, you gain one stack of corruption, which means you deal an extra D10 with every attack. Extra D10 of damage with every attack. Nice. But you have a minus two penalty to wisdom saving throws.
Starting point is 01:02:40 Not nice. We also have advantage, right? You do. You do currently have advantage on this so it's minus two to the advantage roll yes so minus two to the whole save but yeah you get to roll twice uh keelik and kalar um so

Starting point is 01:03:37 so that heals for eight okay eight nice and then use my regular action to heal again uh i'll do a let's do just a second level uh i'll fly up to it and cure wounds and then fly back um sure yeah so a second level cure wins, which is 2d8. Starting point is 01:04:10 So yeah, you see as you begin to channel healing magic into this shard and the area around it, the wound begins to lessen. You see the black scales turning white again. And the shard seems to almost be kind of pulsing with power. You can see one of the nightmares, the one closest to Nova, as you are healing the shard, it begins to kind of writhe,
Starting point is 01:04:33 agitated. You can see it kind of... Not taking any damage, but it seems it does not like you healing this shard as you do so okay oh do we see anything in the mirror universe yes so the all of you guys the those of you who are in the dream see the area of the dragon where the shard is it doesn't seem to appear in the dream but you see this kind of
Starting point is 01:05:01 spreading white light uh begin to kind of coalesce around its leg. And you see the nightmare kind of writhing and shuddering as if finding something very uncomfortable and unpleasant. And it seems to be connected in some way to that spot on the dragon. Cool. Anything else, Keylike? Again, that's my entire turn. Bonus action and movement.
Starting point is 01:05:29 Nova, I need you to make a wisdom saving throw, please, with advantage. Minus two for the total roll. So my highest was an 18. Minus two is a 16 but plus 3 so 17, 18, 19. 19? You feel this kind of like corrupting influence like these whispers in your mind but

This central figure in our plane uh where where are they uh so one is currently next to you uh the the nightmares they've moved around so the ones on the map sorry the larger entity it's no the the there is no main puppet master these individual nightmares were almost controlling the visions there is almost like and it's nowhere like you can't see it you you can just sense that there is this presence in this space
Starting point is 01:06:30 like a god like a malevolent god watching over the whole thing okay um in which case um i I I don't know what to do so I'm just going to go I'm going to cast Blight on the nearest nightmare to me which is the one in front of me so can you make a con save of 17 please
Starting point is 01:06:59 17, the magic seems to wash over it and has full effect even though this thing seems to wash over it and has full effect. Even though this thing seems to be made of energy, the necrotic power seems to siphon its essence away. Don't forget an extra d10 damage at the end.

As you step into it, you feel this power flood through your body, and there's almost like this dark purple energy swirling in the golden matrix
Starting point is 01:09:32 as the energy mixes with your own. And yeah, you feel strong. You may add a d10 to any damage rolls you make, but you have a minus two to wisdom saves. Okie dokie. Nice. Minus two to whiz. Lovely. Nice.

Starting point is 01:10:07 So you see the wound around that shard has nearly fully healed. Not quite, but it's nearly completely filled. But something is anchoring this blade in place. Even though the wound, you look like you should be able to pull it free, there's almost like something is attaching it to the the creature's body uh in this realm anything else century um can i move one step back closer to quill just like just there yeah and that is then that is my turn done thank you johan. Starting point is 01:15:40 No, I wish They don't have resistances either. these aren't actually resisting but did you say 60 80 60 yeah because one took heart one took four anyone's then took half the middle one 200 damage spread across multiple monsters yeah um and i'm sure i am sure there is a wizards of the coast errata which says you cannot twin spell chain lightning somewhere but we're gonna say that it's allowed because that's what i said last time well twin spell yeah it literally says if you can if it's a spell targets one creature and chain lightning which is one creature one creature yep um damn i i'm sure there is an
Starting point is 01:16:21 he's allowed to have a big spell let him have his fun somebody does say that the errata does clarify it doesn't it doesn't work but it's fine if you sorcery points ramps it doesn't work again so there you go
Starting point is 01:16:39 I don't have enough sorcery points to do that again I'll use my tempestuous magic as well to fly ten feet away. Fly ten feet away without provoking attack of opportunity. So these bolts of lightning streak out of Johan's hands and just drain down power across all three of these creatures as the lightning jumps between the three of them. You hear these horrible, inaudible shrieks
Starting point is 01:17:06 that kind of just erupts through everything and kind of seems to kind of almost shatter parts of the world itself as it does so. Yeah, and terrible things happen across these three nightmares as Johanna unleashes this power. Anything else, Johanna? Is that the end of your turn? That's me.
Starting point is 01:17:30 Okay. For the lair action, two things happen. One, everybody in the dream, you gain another stack of corruption. So now attacks deal 2d10 extra damage, but you have minus four to all of your things. You technically had 2d10 on top of that. It would be only once. So you wouldn't add 1 D10 per
Starting point is 01:17:50 target. You add 1 D10 because it's 1 damage roll. So I should add the next one. 1 D10. Main! Another 9 points of damage. Hell yeah. Which is still pretty good.
Starting point is 01:18:03 So now, 2d10 extra damage, minus 4 to any wisdom saving throws you make whilst in the dream, those of you who are in the dream. Then I need, let's have Rhiannon roll a d6, please. Woo-hoo-hoo! Two. Two. Going through the list.
Starting point is 01:18:22 So those of you in the material realm which is uh sentry and quill the dragon begins writhing and smashing its body around in some sort of fitful dream some sort of fitful rage one of the chains breaks the magic of the chain around one of its wings snaps um and it begins lashing it begins almost winding up ready to smash backwards with its hand. Ayla. Oh. I feel like I haven't had a turn in ages.
Starting point is 01:18:55 This has been an intense round. It's been a very intense round. I would like to move over to the one attacking Lucius please. And give it the old one attacking Lucius, please. And give it the old 1-2 smackaroo. Sure. Please.

Starting point is 01:20:13 And then I have an extra 2d10 damage on each hit. To each attack, yes. Okay. So, first one is... 19 damage. Second hit is... 16 damage. And then my two extra D10 is another...
Starting point is 01:20:41 11 from the extra 2d10 overall. That's the first attack. No, that's both of them. Oh wait, yeah, of course, 2d10. Shit. 10 plus 8. So 18 more. And then deck save.
Starting point is 01:21:01 These two huge hammer swings you can see almost dissipating the creature as it goes that's a 19 on the deck save that's a success but 15 damage so half of 15 lightning the two strong hammer blows you can see kind of almost dissipating the thing's energy sending it parts of it almost scattering into nothing as these writhing shapes and tentacles seem to bear down on you. Angry, you can see it's heavily injured, but still standing.
Starting point is 01:21:36 Lucius. I just want to get in the way of Lucius. Yeah, you can't really give him any cover or anything like that. Yeah, this creature is also quite large, and with these long tentacles, it can't really give him any cover or anything like that. I spend one sorcery point and choose a number of those creatures up to my charisma modifier.
Starting point is 01:23:16 They automatically succeed on the saving throw. Maybe it means that they don't have to roll, but they'll take half damage, basically. So is it just Sentry? Well, Sentry's in a different realm. Yeah, they're in a different realm. So if I do it there,
Starting point is 01:23:31 is that going to hit all of them without it? Yes, yeah, it would. So you wouldn't need to be careful. I wouldn't need to do that, would I? Excellent. The plan all along. That's what I thought, though. I'm going to cast this there, apparently,

And then the other two would take 15 you can see the acid splashes over them um you know they kind of recoil from the forces this this orange liquid kind of splashes all over their black amorphous forms um but yeah uh as pantry it's around so just remember that the one closest to nova 12 acid damage at the start of its turn there's actually technically one extra point damage to all of them because okay one of them was a one sure do you get anything for the extra 2d10 damage uh he adds adds 2d10 damage to that spell. Two more. 2d10 extra damage. 2d10. So that is an extra
Starting point is 01:24:46 whole four. Wow. Wow. The lowest you could have possibly done. Well, no. Could have rolled two ones. And my Dyncromancy goes off as well at the end of all this. It does. Which one would you like to target?
Starting point is 01:25:03 The one closest to me please one closest to you eight more points sure the acid kind of sprays out everywhere covering everything in the dream uh the dragon roars in the dream sensing some sort of conflict around it that's too preoccupied by these horrific images being shown to it uh the creatures all do seem to be injured and wary uh but as it is their go the one with Nova will take damage at the start of their turn, and then they will make their counterattack. And then once we finish this turn, we will take a short break.
Starting point is 01:25:33 Nova, two attacks against you. That is a 22 to hit. I'm going to use my Hexblade Armor on this first one. I'm going to use my Armor of Hexes on the first I'm going to use my armor hexes on the first one and roll a d6 I rolled a 1 so your attack hits so that first one still hits and you take
Starting point is 01:25:53 24 points of bludgeoning damage as it slams down Tiangong barely able to protect you from it but you manage to roll out of the way of the second attack. Lucius, this one's going to continue attacking you as it seems to be the weakest. 16 to hit. Yes.
Starting point is 01:26:15 26 to hit. That's going to be 13 bludgeoning damage from the first one. And 18 points of bludgeoning damage from the first one and 18 points of bludgeoning damage from the second one Lucius is down the third one
Starting point is 01:26:35 you've had a long rest you go to one hit point noise noise noise so the book glows for a moment and then Lucius you fool yourself just barely still alive on one hit point as the power of the tome
Starting point is 01:26:52 tome of shadows protects you from that effect the one at the very back will just two of its kind of blinking red eyes will target Aayla with ranged attacks oh they've got ranged that is going to be 23 Aayla on the first one blinking red eyes, will target Ayla with ranged attacks. Starting point is 01:27:07 23, Ayla, on the first one. Yep. And then that is a... 22 on the second one. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. That's going to be 24 psychic damage.

As these two blasts kind of stag you back, sending these horrible images through your mind as they do so. At the end of the round, the dragon that has been thrashing around its tail whips round and attempts to hit

Starting point is 01:28:50 the effect of our vitality With that at the end of the round those of you who are on it's in the lair action the additional corruption um yeah uh that is going to bring us to a brand new round so we're going to take a short break because we are due a break for people to go pee and uh just grab a drink and all that stuff and then we'll be back to continue
