You know what's great about ambition?
You can't see it.
Some things look ambitious, but looks can be deceiving.
For example, a runner could be training for a marathon,
or they could be late for the bus.
You never know.
Ambition is on the inside. So that goal to be the ultimate soccer parent?
Keep chasing it. Drive your ambition. Mitsubishi Motors.
Welcome friends to High Rollers Presents The Curse of Strahd. A gothic horror adventure of chills,
thrills, and many blood spills. I am your Dungeon Master, Mark Humes, and the players joining
me are as follows.
Chris Trott as Jesper the Vistani Bard Kim Richards as Shadows Beyond the Veil, a
tabaxi cleric Katie Morrison as Rose Vanandi, the Human
Ranger Tom Hazel as Xeros Mistan, the Dragonborn
Fighter Rhiannon Gower as Zeke Mistan, the Dragonborn Fighter, and Rhiannon Gower as Zeki Mistan, the Dragonborn Sorcerer.
The party have fled to Vallaki in the wake of Xeros and Zeke's packs and the destruction of St. Andral's bones. The party rushed to a nearby Vistani camp and found it to be not
only to be deserted but the site of some bloody massacre. Dead Dusk Elves and a few Vistani
corpses littered the now empty camp and tensions were high
and the party found themselves at odds over the dragonborn siblings recent decisions attempting
to rest after a long night the party were interrupted by a force in pursuit and whilst
many of the followers were dispatched the party fled into the southern woods will more pursuers come
after them where do they go now and will xeros and ziki be able to keep up their promises to other
worldly beings that is where we join today uh as to set the scene before we... Well, let's discuss map first.
So,
you guys are currently just south
of the Lackey, just outside the
Western Gate, headed
through the woods.
You guys are going to need to
let me know where you want to go.
And also, there
is, you know, this is a kind of
travel exploration element to this as well.
Uh, I can tell you guys that depending on how quickly you move, you'll be able to cover a certain amount of hexes.
Um, so you really need to pick a direction and then basically we'll figure out where you go, what might happen along the way.
This is very much going to be down to you guys.
Um, but to set the scene scene the group of you have managed to
flee into the thick woods um you leave behind the hill where the vistani camp was located
uh rose is currently leading the way um and you've all had enough time to catch up with each other
and make sure you're all traveling as a group again um but you are now
in in the wilds uh rose can lead you she seems to know her way around the woods and can avoid
most of the most difficult terrain um but you still need to have a destination of where to go
and everything else it is about 1 ppm in the afternoon, so whilst there
is sunlight beneath the
darkened boughs
and canopy of this woodland,
it is still quite dimly lit.
As mentioned before, in
Barovia, there is no real
sunlight. It is all this
dismal grey
sublight, this kind of
wearisome foggy-like day uh which means that no real
sunlight um can be found anywhere uh and yeah that's that's where we begin this is this is
kind of really onto you guys um rose you don't know the terrain you don't know the locations
but navigating a wood is easy enough you do know that
there is definitely a river to the west um that you think travels south just your general awareness
of the terrain and things like that um yeah uh there was a couple of devils left over from the
last fight uh that seemed to retreat and go and find you're not sure if they've gone to find
reinforcements or report or
what it was they were doing but
they have vanished for now
they've definitely gone for reinforcements
haven't they
I think we should assume that they have
yeah most definitely
given that we
just seem to keep
running into trouble
I guess I guess that Rose will probably just seem to keep running into trouble.
I guess that Rose will probably turn to Jasper since he kind of knows the areas a little bit better
and ask him what direction would lead us the furthest away
and that she can help them navigate the woods um but we need a rough direction
uh so we're literally in the the thick of it there yeah right you are you are just south
right we can travel through the woods if it's safer we can go through the woods. If it's safer, we can go through the woods.
I can lead us.
That's fine.
I wish it was safer, but we should probably get back on the path.
Maybe we've lost them now.
But I think we should get back on the path and cross the bridge.
I think it's safe to assume that people will be looking for us.
We don't really blend in very well.
True, but the things of the night don't discriminate either.
And what lurks in the woods could be even worse.
So our safety is probably in having visibility I don't
know what's around every tree you could definitely double back and try and get
back onto the path you don't think it would be too difficult um the roads are open um yeah you can definitely try and do that
from there i suggest we follow the stream south maybe uh or we follow the path directly west
i think that's in the dark of Argolbastrovort.
Argostelervolti.
Argost.
Argost.
Wow.
Pronouncing some of these local names.
Do some shopping.
So it's up to us really but
according to
the readings of Taroka
the dragon
statues that is
where the next clue lies
oh yes
Argon Vostholt
I'm with you now.
That's exactly how I pronounced it.
Yes, I'm learning from you.
I have much to teach.
I have much to teach.
What say you all?
Did you have any interest in tracking the Vistani who left the camp?
No.
Nahari?
Not really.
Much as I'd like to see them, I don't want to bring people to them.
To be honest, we would only bring danger
to other people at this point
we are wanted criminals
for just existing in this
very bizarre
land
and how many days until
Strahd comes for
Irina
or she has to be placed at the castle And how many days until Strahd comes for Irina?
Or she has to be placed at the castle?
We need to consider that as well.
If you're referring to the ominous threat that Strahd made over the town of Barovia,
it's within the next 24- 36 hours she's supposed to be
at the castle
that won't come with any repercussions
if we don't do it
consequences what
Argonvost Halt it is
are we going together?
I don't think that's our decision to make.
I think it's up to everyone else to decide which way they want to go.
But that's where I would like to go.
I mean, I'm assuming that you are referring to the dragon siblings.
I'm not going to speak for them.
Irena and Ismark are slightly off to the side,
just kind of keeping an eye out, looking around.
Dragons.
I'd like to carry on traveling with you.
I know I can't be the person you want me to be right now,
and I'm sorry for that.
I truly am.
But I don't want what we have to end.
I want us to continue going forward.
All things come to an end.
Just for the record, Katie hates not being friends with Rhiannon in campaigns,
because God, it's hard! Katie hates not being friends with Rhiannon in campaigns because...
God, it's hard!
Wait, why is it easy with me?
Specifically Rhi.
Because it's you.
But Rhi's like a little sweetheart.
I'm not even roleplaying this campaign.
Just the cutest.
Yeah.
I would let bygones be bygones
because survival
is better together.
But I still don't know
what you two
truly have done
and what is coming.
And if you're with us,
you're a threat.
I understand.
If you feel threatened, then
do what you need to do.
I'm not threatened by you.
I'm threatened by
the one you made a deal
with.
I'm threatened by the one you made a deal with
our goal still remains the same
I guess it is
until it's not
until then sure
stay with us
maybe we should continue on the path
and then when you feel
like you're ready to tell us a bit more about
what exactly the smaller details are then please let us know it will allow us
to keep an eye out as well
Okay.
How about this?
In the interest of transparency,
are any of our lives in danger because of the deal you've made
directly from you two?
My deal was to destroy Strahd
and Barovia would be mine if I succeeded.
If I failed, I'd return to where I came from.
And you, Zeros?
You three are safe.
I want to know more.
The deal doesn't affect you
not good enough answer the question
trees creak
wind rustles through the
boughs
you can hear very faint animal sounds in the distance.
The midday sun passes overhead.
Katie, you would probably guess you have maybe something like six hours before nightfall.
You suspect it's around noon-ish.
As you slept through the morning.
Is Mark and Irina kind of returned from where they have been?
Yes, are we ready to leave?
We can discuss on the road
but we can't stay here
there will be reinforcements and who knows
what else in that forest
we should keep pressing on
Yes, you're right I say we head for the path else in that forest. We should keep pressing on.
Yes, you're right. I say we head for the path.
Double back.
Cross the bridge.
Alright.
Because I have no sense of direction.
Yeah, so, uh, yeah.
Rose can definitely lead you back. rose knows forests well enough that she
cannot get lost unless there's magic involved so it's not hard for rose to double back and
start leading you uh along questions i have as a gm uh what kind of pace are you guys trying to
move out are you guys trying to be stealthy are you trying to move as quickly as possible
you know what's the do you want to try and keep a balance like what's the
what's the plan here as part of that you just mentioned that we had a sleep in the morning
so it's the afternoon does that mean we've had a long it was interrupted no you it was interrupted
you started okay yeah yeah because that's when they attacked you was uh it was about halfway
through the long rest i thought it was yeah halfway through the long rest. I thought it was, yeah, halfway through the night, so...
Could that be a short rest then, or no?
No, the way you guys...
The time's been fucked up,
because you guys have been sleeping when it's daytime,
and so far you've always been active during the night times.
So you arrived at the Vistani camp at, like, dawn,
and then you took, like...
You had, like, about an hour, two hours of conversation, then you took like you had like about an hour
two hours of conversation then you took about
four hours of a long rest
I penned it around about midday
so and you didn't get the full
benefits of the long rest you only got a short
rest which I believe you took
AF
yeah
and it's the what doesn't help is the
fact that there whilst there is light
it is this dismal miserable gray you don't british it's kind of thrown you off you know
massively in terms of sleeping schedules and things like that british summertime in it
july and it's raining yeah so yeah so so the question still remains, what kind of pace
do you guys want to move at?
Are you going to just try and stick to the roads
wherever possible?
So I think the plan was to go back to the road,
cross the bridge, and then follow the river south,
right? Yes, that will definitely
that will
there will be pros and cons, whichever way you
take it. Travelling through the wilderness,
it's much more likely that you will encounter trouble,
just because it's harder to see where you're going,
and the woods are full of all sorts of things.
Travelling on the road has its own problems, in that you will be easier to track.
Like, if there are pursuers after you,
they will have a much easier time following you on a muddy road than through thick woodlands.
Any creature that is flying will be able to spot
you easily. They will easily
be able to find you and spot you
if you are travelling out in the open.
But you also
won't need to do things like cross the river
by foot. You can
just cross the bridge and things like that.
Chris Trott, you have your hand up.
Yeah, fine. So, looking at burning question. Yeah, I'm fine.
So, looking at this map, right?
Yes.
I'm just going to...
If we went down here, which is my plan,
would Jesper know if this is traversable, this hill?
The hill, yeah.
I don't know if you would know how traversable it is
because Argenvostolt is not an area you've really been to before, i don't know if you would know how traversable it is because argen vostholt is
not an area you've really been to before i don't think you've heard of it you've heard the stories
but you've never visited it you've always stuck to like the main towns and the roads so i think
yesper's knowledge of of barovia is mainly limited to krezik valaki bar, Barovia, the villages, like the Vistani areas.
Any of the more dungeon-y kind of
environments, like Argenvost, Holt, the
Amber Temple, which I know Chris Trott
knows about. I don't think
Jesper, he knows the legends of those
places. You might know some vague things
about them, but not any details or specifics.
Well, I kind of know it's just
in the specific... You know it's there.
Yeah, exactly. You think you know how to get there, but you don't of know it's just in this facility you know it's there yeah exactly you you
think you know how to get there but you don't know if it's traversable or how difficult it would be
to climb up and things like that okay i'm just gonna yeah that's my the plan i said initially
was to follow the stream because i think that's something to follow get back on the road and
follow stream but i just want you guys to be aware that
both both ways have pros and cons uh and yeah you need to set a travel pace as well which is
how fast you're going to be moving 500 feet a second can you do that i'm a dragon man
does the dragon man have a racial ability that says move 500 feet a second?
Yes. No.
That's a lie.
I mean, you're a liar.
I think we kind of want to move fast away from this camp, but then I guess once we cross the
bridge we can like start slowing down again, right?
I mean, that's a decision for you guys.
I'm not. I've given you the information.
It's now time for a decision.
I'll roleplay what I just said.
Blah, blah, blah.
That was a lot of words
for the dragon.
That was way too many words for Zeros.
He wouldn't have said that.
Move fast, go south, slow.
There it is.
Slower, but not that slow.
We should maintain a good pace, I think, out in the wilderness.
I can try and cover our paces for maybe an hour or so,
so that we can go in a different direction.
They might not track us
at least which direction we've gone from this
camp.
Sounds smart.
We can still run around on the spot
to create loads of footprints in all directions.
Everyone pick a direction and run!
I will
just before we move off,
I will cast Pass Without a Trace on us
so that whichever direction you go in,
we don't have any tracks.
For one hour, you will not leave any tracks, basically.
There's nothing for anybody to track you with.
Cool.
And you want to stick to the plan,
so you're going to move at a normal pace?
At a reasonable pace for the first hour,
at least so that we can get some distance between us and them
where we're not going to be leaving evidence behind.
And then we can adjust from there.
Yeah, sure. Reasonable.
All right. And then you're going to basically follow the road.
So if you move at a reasonable pace,
you can travel 12 hexes within an hour.
So you would go 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8.
You would basically arrive at Argenvostok in an hour,
leaving no physical tracks of where you've been.
Oh, I thought this was way bigger, this map.
No, so each hex is about
a quarter of a mile, and
you can cover about three miles
in an hour if you move at a normal pace.
Man.
That's like forced marching.
You guys are not stopping,
just pushing forward
as much as you can.
It's only an hour.
Yeah, the only thing that you note
just before you arrive at the base of a tall, sloping hill
is along the road near the side of the woods,
as you are travelling,
Rose, you would be the first person to spot this.
I'll draw, like, a little X or something on the map
so you know where it is.
Here, you find the body of a Barovian man
dressed in what appears to be maybe woodsman's garb,
carrying a hatchet, a vest, like a woolen vest,
sturdy boots, that sort of thing.
There's a small backpack
full of
lumber and
berries, things from the forest.
The body has
clearly been torn apart by wolves.
Large wolves
at this.
Bite marks.
Claw marks.
Would I notice
if it looked similar to
the kind of wounds
that would be inflicted by a werewolf
you move
closer
your boots squelching
into thick mud of this unworn
track rain
pattering down around you and as you examine closer
the various claw marks and bites across the man's body seem to almost expand and contract with
a breath as you kind of look at the body your vision begins to blur around the signs you begin to see the face of
this barovian man almost take on elements of your brother's face as the wounds bear a startling
resemblance you see maggots and grubs infesting these wounds biting chewing consuming flesh as it does and the wretched stench of decayed flesh
and wolf pelts overwhelms
you
you take a deep breath
and when you look again it's just the body of a normal
Barovian man, no one you know
but yes
these were no normal wolves
that did this
I will probably move away quite that did this.
I will probably move away quite
quickly and turn to
Shadow and just
say to her, not so
that anyone else really is going
to hear, but just say to her
it's
almost the same.
It could be.
We should keep moving.
Are you
okay?
It's just
this place playing tricks
on my mind again.
It's fine.
You are
stronger than that.
And
I am here for you if you need it.
Thank you.
We should keep going.
And I'll just probably keep marching.
As you continue on,
soon the
wooded path that follows along the side of the riverbanks
it opens up into a much bigger valley uh the earth on the western side really begins to ramp up
becoming quite a tall imposing hillside um not forested rocky, covered in thick shrubland.
And at the top of this
valley, you see, looking
down,
perched like a
mansion, almost like an estate.
You see
high above the river valley
a quiet
promontory upon
which looms a
sepulchral mansion
its turrets are capped with fairy tale
cones and its towers
lined with sculpted battlements
a third of the
structure has collapsed as has
part of the roof but the rest appears to be
intact and you can see a large
dark octagonal tower
that rises above
the surrounding architecture.
There is a
quiet,
thick fog that rises
up from the river valley and
seeps up to the hill towards
Argenvostolt.
Making your way up this
cliffside will be
possible, but not easy um
okay so do we need like climbing tools or anything like that climbing tools will definitely help um
this is definitely going to involve a physical climb to reach the top of this this hilled area um but you'll be approaching the mansion
from its eastern side
if you do so um it's not
impossible it's not particularly difficult
the fear here is that uh
if somebody slips or trips
you may lose equipment you may lose
energy um you may just
expend a lot of energy trying to climb up here
uh
depends on how successful you are.
But certainly
climbing equipment will help.
Are you a cat who is
good at climbing?
Oh, okay. If you've got climbing speed,
then you are fine. You can move up
this without much hindrance.
Cool.
Can I use primal savagery as a way to make my claws
longer so I can go, go, go, go, go
Yeah, I'll definitely let you
have advantage on any athletics checks
for sure, if you use
because that's a cantrip, right? Primal Savagery
So
everyone else, because
you know, there is an effect to this
you watch
as Ziki kind of closes her eyes for a moment,
and the earth around Ziki seems to darken in colour,
almost turning black and wisp-like at points.
And you watch as her claws,
which were already quite longer than you ever remember them being
the claws seem to grow and become
jagged like that of some
sort of beast
her fangs elongate
almost
like those of the creatures that you've
encountered thus far in Barovia
and her eyes
black irises and
shadows begin to emerge around the whites of her eyes, black irises and shadows begin to emerge around the whites of her eyes.
Cool.
Great.
I just climb like a cat.
So Shadow begins making their way up alone.
Ziki, do you want to try and make a check to climb up?
Yes, please.
Sure.
So, athletics, but you have advantage.
Cool, cool, cool.
So, that is...
Nine total.
Nine total.
So, you're going to be able to do it, but it's tiring.
It's exhausting work.
Even though you've got these claws, it's not something you're super used to.
And the physical effort of
scrambling up this is
tiring. It's exhausting.
It's going to cost you one hit
dice to make your way up this hill.
So mark off a hit dice.
If you don't have any hit dice to spend,
let me know, because then that
becomes something different.
Okay. Where do I find
those should be just on the cat sheet next to you just click short rest you'll
come up yeah sure yeah okay and you'll see how many I've left I've got none
left oh let's hope you don't fail the check then. Short rest. Here we go.
Okay, cool. Spend a hit die.
Cool. Darn it.
It doesn't actually show up, does it?
That's really interesting.
You have to click on your portrait.
But also, if you click short rest,
it'll show how many that you've used.
Yeah, it shows how many you've got and used.
Cool.
So Ziki begins slowly making her way up
off the shadow
as her claws dig in
and as she grips onto rocks,
parts have begun crumbling down
as the earth is disgorged
as she begins making her way up.
Yeah, I'm going to try and climb.
Shadow, before I go, can I have cast resistance her way up. I'm going to try and climb. Before I
go,
can I have cast resistance
on... I don't know if it'll help
though, actually.
Resistance
on Rose, it kind of adds
a d4 to a saving throw.
Yeah, you can do.
I mean, yeah, you can do.
I'm going to say you probably won't be able to do much more than that because you did say that you were just going to climb straight up, but yeah, you can do I mean yeah you can do I mean you I'm gonna say you probably won't be able to do much more than that she did say that you were
just gonna climb straight up but yeah you can cast resistance sure oh you got
a d4 cast resistance so you kind of summon the golden light that you have
used to cast your spells in the past casting rose in a warm glow rose did you
say you wanted to try?
Yep.
So, athletics checks for you as well, please. If you have any climbing gear,
let me know if you have a climber's kit
or anything like that.
No, and I rolled a four, so that's an eight.
Ah, so the same thing.
You still climb up.
It's going to slow you down.
This is the other thing. Not only is it tiring,
but this is slowing you down.
You're climbing up this space much slower than you would have normally.
If you've got any hit dice, you lose one of them.
If you don't have any hit dice, let me know.
Yeah, I've got them.
Okay, so spend one hit dice as you begin making your way up.
Given the pace that Zeke and Rose have already set,
climbing up this hill is probably
going to take at least another hour or so.
Just because they're constantly having to
stop, find secure points
to climb up.
Shadow, you can just zip up there
much, much faster. It takes you like 10 minutes
to reach the top.
Can I help in any way by
setting a path?
The path doesn't really make a difference
because you've got claws.
You're not leaving pitons or ropes
or anything like that. You're just kind of climbing
up there. You can try and
take the help action, but obviously if somebody
fails and you're trying to help them, that might have
consequences for you.
But you can certainly try.
So right now, Jesper, Zeros,
Ismark, and Irina are still at the
bottom. Yeah, I'll have a crack, and I've
got 50
feet of rope as well, so
I think if I do get a decent height up,
then I'll throw a rope down.
That will help anybody
who goes after you, basically.
Yeah.
Just athletics, is it?
It's straight athletics, let's check.
14.
14. It's enough.
It's not the fastest going.
You're not as fast as Shadow, who is just
skirting up this cliffside
without much issue.
But with just pure raw strength you can just
reach up and sure um but yeah you manage to climb up it doesn't doesn't tire you out you don't lose
any energy and if you want you can begin sort of leaving a rope behind you um to help um is it just
the rope or do you have like a climber's kit as, or do you have a climber's kit as well?
I don't have a climber's kit, but I guess if I, at certain checkpoints...
You could secure the rope to yourself.
Yeah, well, I was thinking of also just securing it around...
Like, if there's a small, I don't know, tree stump or something,
I can tie it around that, or like...
Cool, make a nature check for me.
Nature? Oh, God. I'm one natural world nine and one that see how your knowledge of the natural
world so you you find what you think is like a secure like rock outcropping and you try and tie
it around that as like a checkpoint and then continue on with the rope um but we'll see how
well that holds up uh see if your knowledge of the terrain is enough. Yeah, I mean, I'm still holding the rest of the rope as well.
So I guess it's not a one-way road.
But we'll see.
Ismark will probably look at Jesper.
Should Irina go up next now that Zeros has dropped the rope for us?
I worry that she will not be as...
Let me go first.
Make sure it's safe.
Alright, friend.
Three of us are safe.
I think I can manage this, Mark. You really don't need to worry
as much.
You think I'd kill you with a rope on a hill?
Well...
Let's find out.
Not him.
Because he was in the three that you said that you weren't.
Oh, great.
So, make a athletics check, Jesper.
Give yourself a plus two bonus for the rope, so add an extra two to whatever your result is.
But if you fail...
Oh, eight's the total?
Okay.
No rollers tonight. okay the rope as you are climbing the rope
just the rock that it's attached
to can't quite fully support your
weight it's brittle chalk
and as you kind of pull on it it just
snaps and kind of falls apart
but zero still has some of it
and your own ability
to climb prevents you from
falling particularly badly,
but it's still going to cost you energy.
It's going to cost you a hit dice.
Sure.
Do you have any left?
I have one left after all this.
There you go.
So, yeah, you begin climbing your way up the rope,
your foot kind of scraping against the wet rock and the shrubland as you manage to make your way up.
You're all beginning to make your way up. You're all beginning
to make your way up the side of this cliff.
Ismark gestures and Irena
attempts to follow
as you do so.
I have to get Irena's stats up because
I can't remember what her stats are.
She'll do it. It's fine.
Athletics.
Not so hot. Not so, bop, bop, bop. Athletics, not so hot.
Not so hot at athletics, unfortunately.
So this is...
I'll do it as a proper roll.
Here comes that nat 20.
Oh.
Unfortunately.
Seven.
Eight plus minus one. Everyone's rolling around the same except zero yeah hi so very much like the
rest of you uh irena just stumbles it's exhausting tiring work um she manages to follow up with the
rope but yeah you can again moving at the same sort of pace as a lot of the others, as Jesper, Rose, Ziki,
just slow going.
The wet rock side, the heavy winds,
just the exhaustion of your constant fleeing from place to place is taking its toll.
And Irina struggles to make her way up as well.
And then last but not least, good old Ismark the Lesser
makes his own way here we go
who also struggles sevens all around sevens all around um it's marked the last one to come up
having a lot of the kind of footholds you guys have used have broken away he has to make new ones
um and again really slows it down it's mark seems to suffer the most from this travel um it seems that the constant keeping watch the constant um battles
and everything else have finally kind of taken its toll um and he looks quite exhausted uh by
the time he reaches the top uh about an hour passes on top of the hour you've already spent
traveling um so it's about two hours from when you left off
in the woods when you
come to stand
in the
courtyard of Argen Vosthol
and I now
have to try and find
figure out where we are
we're all the way to the east of it now
what even is
don't worry about the maps just yet I've got to We're all the way to the east of it now. What even is?
Don't worry about the maps just yet.
I've got to scroll along a very long list of pre-done maps.
Oh.
Very well.
And also, we're not at the main
entrance of the thing as well.
No, you're on the back end.
Scuppered.
The predetermined plans. Scuppered. The predetermined plans.
Scuppered.
I'm just going to
Kool-Aid man smash through the main door.
Oh yeah!
I'm going to,
as I get to the top,
just
stink eye Zeros.
Sure.
You can do that.
You're too heavy.
You're too weak.
You're a piece of shit.
Your dry skin
is scaly.
I can see your dandruff from here.
Wow, what absolutely incredible role-playing
are you guys doing right now?
Whilst the DM desperately tries to fucking get all your tokens on this.
At least I've got hair.
Wow.
You should have done this.
What was that?
Your very presenting voice.
Nice accent.
None of this is canon.
None of it.
I'm just biding time.
Are you sure?
It sounds like it is.
This is what Jesper's imagining in his head.
You know when you have like a fake argument in your head to people.
And you're winning.
You're a poo-poo head.
No, you're a poo-poo head. No, you're a poo-poo head.
Oh, yes, sir.
I am inferior to you in every way.
Yes, I told you.
I am very smart and funny
and I have the best zingers in the world.
I made a mistake
making this deal. I should have always listened to you.
Also, you're handsome.
Fuck. Why are you guys like this? I'm trying to do things
Campaign has almost killed us so far. So we have to we have to do these things have some fun in the middle
Yeah, yeah,! No fun allowed!
Can we have a long rest?
I don't know, can you?
I can't rest.
Absolutely.
Is it like that thing when a teacher's late
to class and after 15 minutes you can
leave? How long does it take for Mark
to get the map prepared? If he takes
too long, can we get a long rest?
Legally, we're allowed to leave. I had other maps prepared! the map prepared if he takes too long legally you're gonna get a long rest legally i had
other maps prepared i didn't necessarily expect you to come on the other side of argon vost
hall or okay right well you should finish the time by the way yeah was there a puff
the whole time by the way way? Oh yeah, because there was. Absolutely, there's another puff.
Of course, the picture to the front of the building.
And Chris Trott knew that,
but he decided to ignore it anyway.
That's why some of you have lost your dice.
Blame Chris Trott.
He said both sides had pros and cons.
I said both Ruth had pros and cons.
So, you make your way up the back side,
and you emerge behind the mansion,
this broken, ruined mansion.
You can see that one side of it,
the southern side of the mansion,
is particularly worse off compared to everything else.
But yeah.
See, there's a door right there.
It's wide open.
These squares, by the way, are 10
feet, these squares. These squares are all
10 feet each.
So it's a huge place then.
This is a very
large mansion, yes. This is
particularly big.
Yeah, coming from the back entrance, yeah, you see these kind of broken buildings.
You can see that there is this large tower at the back.
There do appear to be windows, in actual fact.
We'll kind of have you guys kind of all start sort of you know quite far away at this
point um but as you are approaching you can see yeah these uh small windows no light sources
inside uh but it is midday so you know the light is beginning to dip now uh as it's around about
sort of three four o'clock um by the time you reach the top. There appears to be a graveyard
connected to this mansion as well,
which is this area up here.
Cool.
And then there is an octagonal tower
or like a strange-shaped tower
connected to that graveyard.
Let's go hang out in the graveyard
and be a bunch of goths.
Yeah.
There's three guys there in the middle.
I know if you get closer.
I'll look through a window.
Three guys chilling by the graveyard.
A bunch of goths.
Yeah, I'll have a peek through a window.
Well, you'll need to move closer.
Yeah, sure. What about the rest of you?
What's everyone else doing?
Whilst Xeros does this.
Oh no, be careful.
Ismark obviously goes with his bro.
Ismark is just like, sup bro, let's go.
We're going arm in arm.
Wherever Zeros goes, Ismark goes.
Yeah.
Love that guy.
We must proceed with caution.
What's everyone else doing?
What was it that the the readings gave me
I'm just recalling my memory
one second that's a sticky note
yeah I can't remember what the
hang on let me go back to my book
a sword
so while Seiros and his mark stand
forward the rest of you kind of huddle around
in a circle trying to remember why you came here in the first place.
A sword of sunlight.
Specific details.
Specific details, yeah.
A fallen house guarded by a great stone.
Dragon, look to the highest peak.
Right.
The beacon.
Look for anything. Look for The beacon.
Look for a beacon. Beacons are lit.
Look for the beacon of
Argenvastolt Argos.
For short.
That's how they call it.
Alright.
So what are you guys doing?
We're here now.
This is certainly the place.
Power of strength. a weapon of vengeance we're looking for a sword of sunlight that's what we're looking for
do we think that the tower might be a good place to try all right now the
decrepit Zeki what do you what are you doing? While these guys are conversing.
Uh, you might go and have a look at the rubble over here and figure out what happened.
It's a lot of damage.
Yeah, so you're kind of at the same, so that like, as Zeros and Ismark move forward,
Zeke moves forward about the same amount. Uh, Irina
will go with, uh, Zeki, so she's not our own,
and then the cabal of what the
fuck do we do, uh, kind of huddle
up and are chatting about their plan.
Hey! Hey! Um, what?
Hey! That's what you're doing! I know! We're on it!
I'm just the one who took the frickin' notes
on what the frickin' house has!
That's what I mean!
Zeros and Ismark, as you
approach this back...
Almost looks like a cathedral
in a way, or like a small chapel at the
back of the mansion. And you
peer through broken windows.
The shattered, coloured glass
scattered amongst weeds
at your feet. Inside,
you can see cracked wooden pillars
support a wooden U-shaped balcony that overhangs a stone-walled chapel.
Narrow archways lead to spiral staircases that curl up to the balcony,
and a door set in the north wall has a wooden beam barring it at the east
end of the chapel is the stone altar which is flanked by a pair of iron candelabras
the altar is carved with a rising sun bas-relief and tall arching windows set with panels of
stained glass decorate the walls ones that you are staring through.
There is a thick
fog which has filled this room
and you can see what
appear to be three corpses
in shattered chain mail
kind of almost like knights
kind of
praising the altar, kind of
sat unmoving
their swords kind of
planted into the ground.
Ah, okay.
Definitely corpses, or...
Make a perception check.
I've played just enough darks.
You're in Barovia, of course it's not.
Oh, that's definitely a dead body.
You can't hear them.
You don't hear any breathing.
You don't hear any talking.
They don't appear to be moving. They're dead.
They're dead.
You can see, like,
in fact, you do see, like,
their bodies seem to be
desiccated and sort of like thin and gaunt.
Their skin long sort of lost much moisture and turning like a leathery pattern.
The armor looks rusted.
Can I join and...
In a second.
I'll move.
Sure.
Okay, fine. I'm going gonna start moving up yeah well I'm a
collection of allies and believable
what do you be wary of those two you heard his wording, right, Zeros? In particular. Us three are safe.
He only said three of us are safe.
That's all I'm saying.
As Jesper delivers this warning,
and you pause to look in his direction,
his black, draconic form standing near the windows ziki
uh making your way towards the kind of broken buildings it does look like a lot of damage
um this looks like something ripped these towers apart uh the stone has been broken by great claws
and something of immense strength but the room that it seemed to have been
connected to, you think, may have once
been
maybe a ballroom?
You can see that the
rubble strewn throughout much of this chamber
is caused by the partial collapse of the rooms
above it. There's a pink marble
floor. Fallen chandeliers
lie amid broken chairs
and other furnishings.
And as you draw closer,
make a perception check.
Okie dokie.
Bum-ba-da-bum-bum-ba-ba!
Oh my god.
That is a seven total.
So the mist and the fog that had
risen up from the river valley and is
now kind of like rolling up into this
mansion area.
It's filled where the walls have been
torn down. The mist
has just filled this
open-aired ballroom now that it's
been partially ruined. It's very difficult
to see anything inside apart from the
remnants of broken furniture and things
like that.
Irina kind of nervously looks
around, cautious.
I've heard tales of this place when I
was little. They say that it's
haunted by knights.
They were once
enemies of
the devil. They
worshipped a dragon, a great silver
dragon, but now they are
tormented spirits.
I've always, this place has always given me a dragon, a great silver dragon, but now they are tormented spirits. I've always...
This place has always given me a slight...
It's given me more creeps than anywhere
else in Barovia.
She kind of looks at you
kind of worriedly, but also
doesn't want to leave
you on your own kind of thing.
It's okay.
We'll head back.
We won't look any further.
I was just curious to see what could have caused such devastation.
It's like it was such a beautiful home.
I think that it was...
The stories, anyway, are that...
Well, it was attacked by the forces of the devil.
The spirit of the dragon... it was... the dragon was slain
by the devil and then its body was animated by dark magics. That's what tore down the
walls. Its body taken to Castle Ravenloft. Its body is smashed through these areas, breaking much of the keep.
But the spirit of the dragon
is supposed to live on in this hall
as well.
Powerful, powerful
enemy.
Sounds awful.
Yeah, well, let's head back.
I don't like this.
Sure, okay. So you andna want to start heading back shadow do you move up towards ismark yes please well uh there
can i see what the the window look through the window and i guess i'll go up to zero and just
be like see anything interesting something you'll enjoy. Three bodies.
Wow.
Something you often leave behind.
Can I look through
and...
You're a grave cleric!
Yes, and you're a killer.
Sure.
So do you actually move all the way
up to the window and stick your head in?
Because trying to see it from outside is difficult.
Well, I can see the three...
Can I see the three figures?
You can see the three forms, yeah, vaguely. The mist obscures them though.
It kind of half-hides their features.
Can I cast Eyes of the Grave, Which means that I know the location of any
undead within 60 feet.
Yeah, I've got two more.
You've got two more uses of it?
Yeah, you focus
and
your eyes begin to adjust.
Xeros, you watch
a shadow's eyes, the cat
yellows turn black and just a thin slit of gold.
And as you look, Shadow, you see the dark spark of un-life rests within these three forms.
But they do not seem to have
reacted.
You can also make a religion
check for me as you look in
the room.
D20 plus 3.
That way a 5!
Oh my god.
No idea.
This room appears to just be full of
some sort of Barovian relief.
You're not sure if you recognize it as any
deity or
power that you are familiar with.
But yeah, these
creatures, you don't know what they are,
you don't know what kind of undead they are,
but there is definitely a spark of
unlife in each one.
They are not quite
bodies. They still
have life in them.
Needless to say, we should
be extremely
careful.
Hmm. Okay.
They're so
tiny.
Well, zoom in, because everything's 10 feet, so...
I'm trying to think of an actual entrance, then.
It's so adorable.
Well, the area that ZQ was investigating is open to the elements.
It looks like you could make your way through that ballroom.
Alternatively, you could make your way around the whole building and go towards the front. You could also try and climb this fence for what appears to
be a cemetery. It's about seven foot tall fence. You could try and make your way in through that.
Out of curiosity, what does Zeeky look like with my eyes of the grave?
Oh, that's a great question.
How long does it last for?
Like a minute?
Or is it like you activate it and then it's whatever you happen to be looking at?
It says until the end of my next turn as an action.
Oh, yeah.
In that case, you have enough time to glance around.
Let's see what your range is because you would have been about there.
60 foot.
Yeah. 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35. Glance around. Let's see what your range is because you would have been about 60 there Yeah, five to five ten fifteen twenty
Yeah, you glance over towards Ziki where you can see her and I rena are slowly making their way back to the group and
It's a disturbing image because whilst there is not the spark of unlife within Ziki herself
undeath clings
to her
undeath surrounds
her like a shroud
there is also an
element of
warding against
undeath woven into
it but there is a strong sense
of a very dark power that encloaks
Zeke now.
So,
I'm assuming you will gather. I don't know whether you want to stand where
Xeros was. What's the plan? Where do you want to move to? What do you want to do?
I think without even
thinking about it like having just caught a glimpse of ziki i think shadow's immediate
reaction would just be to hiss and like my ears would go flat and all the fur actually no i don't
have fur i'm a skinless cat but um my hackles just raise up yeah furless
skinless cat
skinless cat Jesus Christ
I think if Shadow does that
then Rose would immediately walk over
to her
and ask her
what's wrong what have you seen
Shadow
nothing nothing it's What have you seen? Shadow?
Nothing.
Nothing.
Shadow?
It's... I think just being next to Xeros...
You know you can't force your ears to not be flat when you're not...
You can't do that.
Something's wrong.
I'm just going to stumble away.
Like, just stumble away a bit.
Oh, I'll follow it.
Yeah, grab Rose and I'll just mumble be mumbling the dragon she's she's undead the power there's so
much power if I've never seen it's darkness she wears the cloak of darkness
just mumbling
not even making sense really
I think you'd get fear
like just fear
Shadow
are we in danger
from this
I don't
I don't know
you know Ziki
she does have good intentions I don't know. You know, Ziki. You know, Ziki.
She does have good intentions, but it's wrong.
It's all wrong.
She's undead.
She wears the mantle.
She's not undead.
Sorry.
As a point, you would know she is not undead herself.
Okay.
There is power there.
There is undeath there that is holding her,
keeping her alive, but it is powerful
and it is strong and I
am scared.
So,
Jesper, what are you doing? What's
Xeros and Zeke doing?
Oh,
I mean,
yeah, once she starts hitting, I think I know straight away
like what she
I know what her eyes do I know she can
see undeath and I know that she
just looked at Ziki so I'm
heading over to her
I guess
as a cautionary thing like
if the cleric who
is trying to take down undeath has just seen mega undeath on ziki
then i'm gonna go over it's just a precautionary like if she attacks you know sure do you draw do
you draw he who grins uh no but i'm like ready for it uh you've got like your hand on the on the hilt.
Yeah.
I think you would see I've turned away.
Shadow's turned like she as soon as she got control of herself
she pulled back and
moved away.
Like almost like she didn't want
Zeke to see
her reaction.
What about Jesper?
What about Zeke?
What about Rose?
I know Rose is like
attending to Shadow a little bit, but
is there anything else you want to do?
I've seen my over here
some of that, because I'm nearby.
Sure, yeah.
Yeah, you're within like 10 feet.
We've been
assured by Zeros that
they won't kill
us.
So, we still have a sword
to collect for now, do we not?
Shadow, you said that
she has undeath
around her, but she's not undead.
I think
let's just keep
an eye on it. Occasionally
check, see if it gets any worse. See if it gets any worse.
See if it gets any darker.
But for now...
It just took me by surprise.
I didn't expect to see that.
It just...
It scares me.
She's being kept alive.
Irina makes her way towards
the second group
as it were, towards Shadow,
Jesper and Rose
Is everything alright? What's wrong?
She kind of calls out
you see Ismar kind of like making his way
towards his sister
and making sure that she's okay but
Irina is just like
I'm not sure if we should
linger too much. If nothing else,
we should find somewhere to
get out of sight.
But are you alright, Shadow?
I'm fine.
Just a shock.
I saw something I did not
expect to see.
I will be fine.
The mist can do that.
I'm glad.
We need your help, Shadow.
We need you to protect us from these creatures.
There are three of them in there, in this building.
They are undead.
Irina looks in the window.
I don't see anything
and when you look back the three creatures that were in there
are no longer there
motherfucker
yeah
so
Irina
from your vantage points back there
have you seen a way in
well Zeke
there seems to be some sort of
broken ballroom perhaps Zeke and I were looking at it it's open to the elements
it's full of mist but it looks like it leads into the building if not there's a
way to walk around it to get to the main entrance those look like the most
obvious places to enter from in terms of my
Belief I say we had there now
Okay Be careful. It's more. It's Marcus. Just like yes, we should definitely get out of sight
that
Fiona woman there was that flying creature does those little devils if any of of them are flying around, they'll spot us out here
easily enough.
Let's head inside.
You begin sort of like leading Irina away.
Zeke and Zeros,
what do you guys do? Is everyone else just gonna
group up and begin making your way?
I think so.
Yeah. Sure.
Alright. Well, you guys I mean you know
take it in sort of like have everybody
move their speed and then
you tell me you know what you guys
are going to do you can see the broken
ballroom as I described it before
there's all sorts of rubble but it's definitely
there are parts of it which are open that you can step
into
yeah
cool yeah I'll head up by about 30 or what everyone else is doing that you can step into. Yeah.
Cool, yeah I'll head up by about 30.
Or what everyone else is doing.
You know who follows you?
Oh yeah!
Bro time! Oh it's my boy!
Love that guy!
Love that guy, you're not gonna kill him.
And Irina kind of follows just behind her brother.
That's cool. 20, 30.
Yeah.
Each square is about 10 feet.
Okay.
I'm following Shadow.
Yeah, you guys begin making your way up.
Are you guys trying to be stealthy
or are you just trying to move cautiously?
What's the plan here?
Yeah, hearing is about the the people that the creatures that fly around and look for us
I'm kind of wanting to get everyone. I'll sure everyone in quickly
Okay, yeah, so you just kind of pushing everyone forward sure well you guys take a step
Okay, so zero if everyone else finishes moving and then I will describe what Zeros sees
yeah so I've just stepped over the rubble a little bit
onto
I guess what is the floor
of the building but there's no walls
yeah there's no
the walls have all been broken down there are some parts
of them some you know broken columns
and sections of wall here and there
um this mark obviously follows up and Irina Parts of them, some broken columns and sections of wall here and there.
Ismark obviously follows up.
And Irena will also be behind a little ways.
The three of you are kind of lingering outside as Zeke, Zeros, Irena and Ismark will head inside.
Zeros, you were the first to notice, you and Ismark, what Zeke didn't see before is as you begin making your way into this room
and the thick fog
that had rolled in, the
whiteness of the fog hid
something that you now encounter
because as you step, your leg
catches on a thick
white
web strand that stretches
from wall to wall and rubble
to rubble and as your body
hits the web and you send little
vibrations down it, you begin
to see dozens of pairs
of eyes.
Oh, God.
Let's roll initiative, everybody.
Oh, we have nothing
left. I have nothing,
yeah.
That's very unfortunate. I am very sorry to hear that.
I've also wasted a nat 20 on initiative. Brilliant.
Ah, that's good. Kill them before they even move. That's a good turn.
With what? With what, Tom?
Andrius!
Oh yeah, you got no spell slots.
You gotta take a flame, right? I miss being a warlock.
Let me just make sure I add good old Ismark the Lesser.
Save this encounter.
Run encounter.
Right.
Zeke, you missed Anne.
Total initiative, please.
16.
16.
Jasper, total initiative, please.
20. 20. Shadow Beyond the Veil. total initiative, please. 20.
Shadow Beyond the Veil.
Total initiative, please.
Rose
Fernandi.
11.
Deiros.
14.
And then finally,
dear sweet, lovely
Aireena.
19.
Pretty good speed all around.
Shadow, you see these creatures as they lurch from their hiding places high into the ceilings, hidden in various pieces of rubble
caught on this white webbing, as many of them begin to appear.
Oh, they're not small then.
No.
They're really quite big.
They are very big.
And you notice there are
a lot of them.
Shall we just...
No.
It's nine.
It's in the module.
Yeah, shadow. There do appear to be nine It's in the modules there Yeah
There do appear to be
Nine giant spiders
That come skittering from
Beneath candelabras
And rubble
The webbing itself disguising
Them they're all made from this sickly
Grey white
Flesh that kind of blends in with this environment.
Ugh.
Oh my god.
Shall we?
Ugh.
Yeah.
I'm...
I'm gonna go.
Yeah.
I'm gonna...
I'm not even gonna attack you know
I'm just gonna run a full
60 foot of
pissing off out of here
this ain't happening
yeah no by 60 foot so
5, 10, 20
is that what I'm doing that right
no it's 10 foot is the big
squares that you can see so there's
each square is broken up into four or five squares.
Six of the big squares, yeah.
One, two, three, four, five.
Goodbye.
Sure.
So Shadow just turns.
The rest of you see Shadow just turn and run.
Just bolts it.
I hate spiders. I hate spiders.
I hate spiders. Jasper.
Well, not a very good cat, are you?
Cats love spiders. I hate them. They eat them.
Hell, that's a milo.
Shadow, what's in there?
Shadow, wait! Spiders! And then...
I'm going to hold my
action.
If a spider comes within the vicinity of me
I will attack it
But I'm going to kind of be a defensive post
If everyone else is leaving
Through the same way Shadow is
Sure
Do you call out anything
Or are you just kind of taking a defensive position
Are you trying to instruct what other people do
I'll defend you
Okay So Jesper, after your turn taking a defensive position. Can you try and instruct what other people do? I'll defend you.
Okay.
So, Jesper, after your turn,
Irina will basically do as you've suggested,
and she will move to basically get behind you.
Five, ten.
Some of this is difficult terrain,
but I'm not going to worry about it too much.
She will basically get to about here,
draw her rapier,
and then basically ready herself for the same thing so she'll move out
but she'll take a ready action that if anything comes near her
she'll take a swing at it
Ismark
this is a fucking spider
he's going to attack and then he's going to run away
because he's Ismark
Ismark
so he swings
twice with his long sword and then once with his hand axe um his first
attack is going to be a miss i believe uh yes he swings once but the spider is more agile than he
was expecting he swings twice scoring a hit uh this is d8 plus three uh four six points of damage to the first one um he gets like a deep scoring mark as
the thick kind of white fluid spills out of the spider's body as it strikes it that kind of
noise uh as it's struck and then finally he will swing with his little hand axe
uh which does hit uh for d6 plus 3, 4 points of damage.
But he is currently
surrounded, so he will basically
just take a small step to
try and get him into a position,
but yeah, he can't move without being attacked
at this point.
Zeke, you missed that.
I think
Ziki's going to move back
a couple of squares.
Actually, just the one.
So I think for that area you're
moving in, by the way, Ziki,
that's difficult terrain. All of that
rubble is kind of hard to move through,
so it's just double movement to move
through it.
Shadow kind of had an easy path to get out,
so I didn't worry about it too much.
I think you were in the thick of that difficult terrain there.
Cool.
Ismark is 100% a himbo, by the way.
It's my favorite character trope of all time.
Ismark is 100% himbo.
Himbo?
He would be played by Brendan Fraser.
Oh, that's nice. I like that. That's cool.
Alright, Zeeky.
Yeah, I'll move back and do the same. Ready an action, if one attacks me, I'll attack back.
What are you attacking with? Just a melee weapon, or do you want to cast a cantrip?
I will cast a level 2 guarding bolt on one of them okay so if you ready in action
to cast a spell this is something that we've never quite got right technically you're concentrating
on that spell so if you get hit you might lose concentration on it um okay that's something that
we've that we've been doing wrong but it's how technically that works but yeah so if anything
gets within i mean guiding bolt technically you could just cast that now because it's a ranged spell.
Because you can see one of them.
So, I don't know.
Or do you want to do like a Primal Savagery or something like that?
I'll pop it off now.
I'll pop it off now.
Okay, sure.
All right.
Do you want to go for the one that is Marcus pointing?
Yeah. Sure. That's an unnatural 20. it off now okay sure all right do you want to go for the one that ismark is pointing or yeah
sure uh that's a unnatural 20. two hits nice yeah that will definitely hit this uh this spider it's the radiant uh glowing light of lalira streaks from your hand um just to check you know that
this one fighting is mark this That one, yeah. Yep.
Yeah.
So that'll be five decent radiant damage?
Oh, I love it.
Yep, that sounds like going well to me.
With a blast, this spider, the radiant energy of Lyra,
just disintegrates enough of its body that its lifeless husk falls to the ground.
As it just is erupted into pieces by these
streaks of light streaming from
your fingertips.
As it rinses through it. Anything else?
That's one. No, that's me good,
thank you.
Zeros, Miss Dan.
Wielder of
he who grins.
Now that Ismark is clear,
I will probably
510, so I guess that's
double movement on difficult
terrain, right? Yes.
Yeah. So I can get to
here, so just in front
of Ziki,
and I guess
if they all start bunching up and rushing towards oh this is all an
open area isn't it so they won't just climb through this small gap no no yeah there is definitely a
big open area to the south and these things don't seem to be bothered by the difficult terrain the
webs the the rubble doesn't seem to affect them too badly okay well yeah if they get if they get
close uh then, yeah,
just regular old attack. I was thinking about
breath weapon, but then it's like, if they
bunch up, oh, breath weapon, but it's kind of weird
to determine what kind of stuff it is. You can't, also, you have
to, with a readied action, it's like,
if they do this, I do this.
Not, if they do this, I do this. If they do that,
I do that. It's one or the other.
Okay, yeah.
Well, I've got some good news and some bad news the good news is that they are definitely
going to be coming towards many of you that have readied actions the bad news is is that there is
a lot of them and they come swarming towards you they're all coming yeah bad news is that it's all
of them i'm interested to see if they stack in the same space. They climb on top of each other like a totem pole.
Spider sandwich.
Delicious.
Crunchy.
With you as the meat.
Oh no.
Oh god, his mark is getting
swarmed.
Oh boy.
Some of them are going to have to dash.
This one will dash.
Oh, he's going to dash.
Oh, hi.
It looks like I stood in the wrong place.
None of them are within five feet of me.
I haven't even gone yet.
No. Sadly, Rose was
out of the
slow initiative
has resulted in the slow initiative as
resulted in a...
Slow initiative gang.
What a quandary I'm in.
Two on Ismark, two on Zeke.
Who do I save?
Oh, look.
There's two on Jesper.
Save me.
Ismark or Zeke?
Oh, God, there's's more When will they stop
There's a lot of these things
So
Ismark is going to get attacked by two of them
Rose is being attacked by
One of them I think they don't have reach
And Jesper is being attacked
By one of them as well
So I will do my
attacks against the NPCs first.
So the first one against
Ismark tries to web him.
It shoots strands of webbing
out of its mouth to try and bind
him up.
That is going to be a 17 to hit.
I believe that hits Ismark. Yes, it does.
So Ismark's arms and legs all get stuck by these thick webbings,
and he is now restrained.
Yeah, and he seems to be struggling against it.
And then the second spider using this goes to bite him with advantage.
Oh, but that advantage is pretty bad.
So as it swings down,
Mark manages to get enough of his arm free
to kind of like put the sword in the spider's mandibles
and kind of hold it back like Samwise in Lord of the Rings.
It's like, a little help, my friend!
As he's like struggling against it.
Rose, one will attempt to web you as well.
That is a 16 to hit
yeah you are restrained by thick strands of webbing and then jasper one attempts to do the same to you when i get attacked on it first or no oh you no so you get those i found this out
i looked into this they happen afterwards
so readied actions always happen after the thing that triggers them um so if you say like if it
comes near me i attack it comes near you does its thing and then you get to attack it basically
uh so but the web is only a 10 to hit you yes butper. No, it doesn't hit. Alright, so you are not restrained as this webbing
kind of shoots around you, these thick
strands.
That is their go, so now readied action.
So I believe, Zeros, you are not
technically within melee range of one.
No.
I didn't quite get close enough to you.
Zeki, you already cast yours, so Jesper,
yours is the only readied action that goes off.
Right. So you get one attack.
Will you allow me to do a
Bardic Flourish?
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. You make an attack
and if you can do anything on attack, you can still do that
as normal with your reaction.
I will do a Slashing Flourish, which basically adds a
D6
to damage if it hits
anyway. Sure. So here's
the Rapier. That's a
10 to hit. 10 is
not enough. It puts a thick spindly
white leg in its way and you kind of
have to throw your weapon, kind of
throw yourself back, throwing your aim off
as the swipe goes wide.
I will attack with the dagger.
With a readied action, you only
get the one attack. So you just get
the one attack action with a readied action, you only get the one attack. So you just get the one attack action.
With a readied action.
Rose!
Rose Vanendi.
How do I get out of the web?
So, you can use
an action to
break yourself free.
You can try attacking the webbing as well.
You can actually physically try and attack it
whilst you do so.
You have disadvantage on attack rolls.
And attack rolls against you have advantage.
Yep, so just try and break free. It is a strength, it's athletics or strength check.
Eight.
You pull and stretch nothing thick webbing keeps you in place do you have any spells or
anything you can do as a bonus action nope okay uh unfortunately i've got you are sweet
um i'm guessing that i'm complete am I completely bound? Or can I shoot?
You are restrained
So no you can still make attacks
But you just used your action to break free
So you can't attack
So whilst you are restrained
Your speed is zero
Attacks against you have advantage
Your attacks have disadvantage
You have disadvantage on deck saving
Shadow be on the veil look at these sad faces huh
nothing I'm gonna for the good it's gonna pop myself there. And then can I toll the dead against
Eenie, Meenie,
Miney, Moe?
Sure.
Yeah, screw it.
This bottom one that's sort of skirted
the edge of the rubble.
That one does look like it's coming for you.
C-14.
Do you see what type of saving throw?
Sorry, Wisdom.
Wisdom 14.
That is a 12.
Good.
It has not taken any damage,
so it does the lesser damage.
2d8.
Sure.
1, 2,
bong!
8 points of damage. I rolled a natural
1 on one of them. 8 points of damage. I rolled a natural one on one of them.
Eight points of damage as you...
This dolorous tone rings out across the open field and you see one of the spiders kind
of shudder with the noise, but there's not quite enough to bring it down.
Anything else on your turn?
You still have some...
You still have 25 feet of movement.
Bonus actions.
I got none that can really do anything impactful. Got no healing, got nothing, but I'm gonna move a little bit more because there's bad boy. Don't look at him. So you carry on. I just move myself 25.
Yes, but followed by Irina, then Ismark, then Ziki, then Zeros. Right.
I will attack again.
This time with a defensive flourish if it hits.
So let's see.
Do you want to like... I was literally going to say,
do you want to Bardic Inspiration yourself?
I don't know if you can do that, but...
I will be spending my remaining Bardic Inspiration
to be doing the defensive flourish, so I wouldn't have had enough to do that, but... I will be spending my remaining bardic inspiration to be doing the defensive flourish,
so I wouldn't have had enough to do.
Right, okay, I see.
But you don't spend it if you didn't use it.
I don't have any inspiration myself either.
No, it's a bonus action to give it to somebody else, though, isn't it?
Yeah.
I've got that one anyway, Mark.
You swing the...
You're trying to have him to kind of...
Dancing around to avoid being caught by these spiders
Which means that you can't quite get the position to make a strong bow
Do you only get one attack when you make an attack or you don't have extra attack? You're right. I do get a second attack
Dagger so here we go ding dong 23 seven points of piercing. So there you go. Yeah, see
So yeah this the second offhand though
there you go yeah see uh so yeah this the second offhand though comes striking in and the dagger manages to scratch along the giant spider's face uh as it does so carving a deep line and this
thick white milky fluid begins to erupt from it oh my god
uh oh you know anything else that's uh you've attacked twice, bonus action, anything?
That's it
Unless I want to face a hit
to run away but
I'm useless at range at the moment
So
That's the end of my turn
Irina will try and come
to your assistance
She brings her rapier forward and she's going to
attack
D20 plus 5 brings her rapier forward and she is going to attack.
D20 plus 5 for her rapier. It's a natural 1.
As she
kind of stumbles on a rock
and some webbing.
As she does so.
I don't even think she has action surge yet.
No, she doesn't.
She doesn't even have action surge yet.
So yeah, she just strikes but it goes
it goes wide um as she does so we're so uh we're so dead you guys are so pessimistic uh
we have rolled so many natural ones
ziki's already killed one so yeah he's gonna save the day along with this guy it's
everyone's favorite it's it's Mark the Lesser
he's restrained but he doesn't care he attacks anyway he's just like he doesn't
even think to break free just tries to swing a bunch of times with his weapons um so he gets disadvantage that's not great that one is the
missed one three two second attack uh 16 hits 10 points of damage to which one would this be
b c e this is giant spider e 10 points of The blow, even though he's kind of caught by the webbing,
brings the sword down in a hefty strike
and then with his last attack, he attacks with the hand
axe for another
hit. That's
16. D6 plus 3 for another
4 points of damage.
As Ismark is just like,
we can take them! Come on!
He's just flailing around with his weapons.
Spinning around as he can. Ziki missed then. We can take them, come on! He's just flailing around with his weapons,
spinning around as he can.
Zeke, you missed, Dan.
I would like to sacred flame the one in front of me, please.
Okay, is that saving throw?
That is a dex save, please.
All right, dex saving throw.
That's three for these.
16. Ooh, yeah, that's a fail on my half. Alright, dex saving throw. That's three for these. Sixteen.
Ooh, yeah.
That's a fail on my half.
The flame kind of erupts but the spider leaps backwards
before kind of throwing itself
forward in a secondary attack as the sacred
flame goes past. Any bonus action
or movement you would like to attempt?
I would like to convert
sorcery points, please.
Sure. Put one of my sorcery
points into my level 2 slot, please.
Okay, so you get a level 2 slot
back.
Zeros.
Mistak.
Okay, so
I want to...
So Rose and Ismark are both
bound by webs,
and you are surrounded one at the moment which one
is binding is mark right now because i can't get to rose on this turn um technically it doesn't
matter like once the web comes out of them it's kind of stuck him to the floor like a world of
warcraft spider it's not like attached to a spider anymore yeah there, there he is. Oh, there he is. Okay, fine.
He's got that dreamy curl.
Hey, it's Brendan Fraser.
Have one.
Have one.
Mummy Fraser.
Time to leave.
Yeah.
I love it.
Moving 20 feet
so that I'm in range
of three of these nerds.
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
They pay attention to you
as you're like...
And I also want to...
So I get a double attack, multi-attack, which, yeah, you're right.
You get an extra attack on your turn, so ready action doesn't drop.
No extra attack.
Pretty cool.
So, yeah, multi-attack, and I'll do a sweeping attack as well,
so it will hit another creature within five feet.
Well, let's see. Let's see what happens.
So on the first attack, he who grins,
I'll bonus action fire it as well.
So as a bonus action, you speak this infernal word
and the two blades ignite into flames.
The spiders do not seem to like that.
You kind of hear like a...
Oh, really?
Good.
Nice. So,
he who grins the first attack
is a...
It's a 12.
Flies over the head of one of the
giant spiders.
They're AC 14., so you came close.
Okay, and the second one, a 29.
Yeah, that one hits as you bring the sword
plunging down into the creature.
Which one are you attacking? This one?
The one that is on Zeke right now.
The one that's on Zeke, yes. Okay, so that is on Ziki right now. The one that is on Ziki, yes.
So that is
H.
So that's 13 points of slashing damage
and then 4 points of fire damage.
17 total damage.
With one blow, you nearly
rip half of this thing's legs off.
The fire singes one side of it.
It's still standing, but heavily, heavily
injured as He Who Grins connects with its body,
spraying white fluid everywhere.
So do I get any fire bonus from a sweeping attack as well
with the fire sword?
No, the sweeping attack says what it does,
so whatever that is.
So that is a D8, so six damage to the one.
I'll go for the one that's next to Ismark.
You make my life difficult, don't you?
Six points to that one, sure.
So you kind of spin the blade around
and stab it into the creature on your side,
this giant blade spinning around in your hands.
Then the spiders go.
Boy, howdy, is there a lot of them.
Oh, no.
And I'm in the middle of all of them now.
Well, not all of them. A lot of them.
I'll stay there.
Where did Shadow go?
You go, where is it?
Shadow fucking just...
Shadow just fucking run.
I don't like Shadow. Shadow will survive. He's 60 fucking wrong. Shadow will survive.
Shadow will survive.
Everyone else will die, but Shadow will live.
I'm exactly where I need to be.
I'll tell the tales of you.
Right.
Spider Bee.
Let's see if it recharges its web.
It does not.
It will attempt to
bite Jesper. Normal attack. charges its web it does not so it will attempt to uh fight yes but uh normal attack uh 14 to hit
you yes but nope nope so you duck kind of shoving your blades in the creature's mouth
as you do so um spine of c which is this one this one still has its web. It will try and web you.
Misses.
You kind of leap to the side
as the web spreads across the floor,
avoiding its sticky substance
and preventing you from getting locked into place.
The one next to Rose will try and bite her
and it has advantage
for a 14 to hit Rose.
No.
No.
So you managed,
even though you're kind of being restrained,
the bow kind of comes up into its mandibles.
You kind of wrestle it,
push it away from you
as it tries to snap its big jaws down.
Spider E, which is injured by Ismark,
tries to bite him.
It has advantage.
That's a natural 20.
There it is.
All right, so that's 8, 3, 11.
To be fair.
18 points of damage to Ismark the lesser.
But then Ismark must make a constitution saving throw.
It's a natural 20.
So you see this spider bites down on Ismark's neck
and this thick fluid kind of injects from these tiny teeth.
But Ismark manages to like thrust the axe
and shove it off before the poison reaches his system.
He still takes half damage, unfortunately,
and it is still a crit, so it still does a lot of damage
uh 16 26 13 more points of damage to ismark so he manages to kind of avoid a ton of the
poison going into his system but still a grievous blow um as it lands. The one next to Sensing Weaker Prey,
the one next to
Zeros and Ismark
will attack Ismark as well
with advantage.
Missing. Ismark manages to
keep it at bay.
The next one will try and web Zeros.
20 to hit you, Zeros.
Ah, shit. Okay.
You are covered in sticky goo.
Goo.
The second to last one
will attack Zeros
with advantage for an 11.
You know what? Honestly,
only one of them hit.
And then Ziki, one of them tries
to web you. It's not bad, is it?
19 to hit Ziki.
Two of them hit.
Yeah.
You are webbed, my dear.
You are restrained.
Okay.
And then Rose.
Rose is done.
Hi.
Hi.
You are still bound by the webs.
The dark web I'm going to just try and shoot with you will
advantage and a key to have double disadvantage but that's not a real thing
that's a think was but why not so because you're first of all you're
within five feet of an enemy so you have this i was gonna shoot one that wasn't within five feet of me no so i got that wrong you still okay well
then i don't shoot then i will try the thing is you you have disadvantage on attacks because
you're restrained anyway so you'd have disadvantage on any attack but or you can just try and free
yourself uh can i shoot the one...
You do have a melee weapon as well.
You can pull out.
I'd still be at disadvantage.
That's true. You might as well shoot then.
I'm going to shoot the one
that's attacking Jesper.
Okay.
Can I first put Slayer's
Prey on it?
And then I will shoot as a bonus
action and then
I'm not going to hit it so
That disadvantage really fucked you on that one
10 it was the total
It's 12 I think isn't it?
14 just
If it's 14 that's a hit
14 hits it even with the uh the arrow strikes into its flesh
forgot i had man if you can hit on a five fucking roll um damn 75 percent
hitting yep so you strike man man roll so there's something about th Thursdays and roll 20 that just
it's not that it's me and roll
20 full start
you've had some good ones on Sundays but
Thursdays in particular
well that's the base damage
right so what's the total
5 and
then
1d6
5 extra
so 10 altogether
that's the first shot
can I shoot it again?
you absolutely can, see?
it plays out
hopefully, nah I'm not going to hit that time
oh no
oh no
fucking balls
seriously
I might just lie down and let Rose go because sure you can do that if you want
because the arrows flies over in the dark side Rose join us yeah just roll
physical dice you may as well.
Like, no one's gonna judge you for faking it.
Bye, er...
So I'm gonna move into range of the one that was attacking me.
Okay.
Hold on, 5, 10, 15...
This one.
Is that enough?
15...
Er, 20. So I've moved 20 feet.
Okay.
And then can you make a wisdom save?
DC 14.
Watch him roll on that 20.
10.
Okay, so that is 2d12
because I heard it first.
18 points of damage.
The bell resounds again.
Doom.
Doom.
And this spider just flops on its back
and its legs curl up
as its body shrivels and withers away.
Dead.
Nice.
Dead.
Anything else, Shadow?
If not, Jesper?
Carry on.
I'm done.
Jesper.
Attack, attack, attack. It's one on me 22 to hit there's one on me
and you hit that one hit it i'm gonna use slashing flourish this one or this one chris
drop the one that's directly in front of you okay yeah yep yep the one one directly in front of me that's eight points of damage to that one plus five
for my oh cuz you're gonna use your flourish oh this thing staggers barely
able to keep itself standing but still standing I'll get my little Pokey boy out.
Nine.
On me.
As you kind of strike upwards it just goes wide
as it stretches up.
Reeling back
from your first blow causes the
second to miss.
Anything else?
Damn it.
This is bad.
Maybe we should run.
I call out.
Irina will not run.
Instead, try and monopolize on the fact
that you've heavily weakened this one.
And she will try and strike it
for 21.
Nice.
D8 plus 5.
6 points of damage.
But because Jesper had weakened it so much,
it had 3 hit points left.
Nice.
As Irena kind of plunges into the thick abdomen,
this bulbous body, pulling the rapier free
as it kind of shudders, twitching its legs
before it thudders to the ground.
And then it's like,
come on, you'll need to get three of these webs!
Or like, we need to
help Rose! She calls out
his mark.
He's showing
the old cats in classes on them.
I put a mask
and a tie on one of them just so he can identify
them easier.
His mark for Lester
will try and free himself because
he's very badly injured.
So he will try and break
free with a strength test, which he
passes just barely.
So he is no longer webbed.
What a boy.
He doesn't really want to risk
a lot of attacks, so
he just stays where he is.
But he's now free of the webs.
Zeki.
Um, I would like to try and break free, please.
I want to break free.
Oh.
Yeah, sure.
No.
No, I'm staying here for a bit.
Yeah, so you try and pull at these webs and these strands,
but it's just so sticky and thick,
and your hands and claws get stuck in it.
You have to pull those free, but yeah, you just cannot move.
Bound you solidly.
Zeros.
I'm going to keep double...
Oh, God, while I'm bound, though, at disadvantage.
You are at disadvantage.
Can I use my entire sword
to, like, bonus action break free
rather than...
You can attack the webs.
Oh, but that would be
the entire turn anyway, right?
It'd be one of your attacks.
You've got two attacks.
Sure.
I'll try and ignite the webs
that are currently surrounding me. That seems safe.
Sure.
With one attack and then...
So you make an attack roll?
Let's see.
Disadvantage?
Let's see.
Oh, disadvantage on the webs on myself.
Yeah, still, it's all attacks.
20 is the lowest. With one swipe, you just cut these thick strands,
and the fire from He Who Grins spreads up the webs,
burning the rest of them away.
You are no longer restrained.
Wonderful.
In that case, I will use a second attack,
I guess on Top Hat Boy, which is above me,
and next to Ismar.
Sure.
And it's just a regular attack.
Natural one.
Baby.
So you focus so much on trying to burn away the webs
that when you go to strike, you're just too slow,
and the spider kind of dodges to the side as it does so.
Anything else, Zeros?
Are you done?
You're done, Zeros.
That's me.
I am free, though.
I'm happy.
All right.
The giant spider at the top will try and attack Irina having she has just reached forward and injured
its friend
That is gonna be a 13 to hit Irina which I don't believe is high enough she manages to parry its mandibles to the side
Rose one is going to attack you. You are still bound.
So advantage.
That is a 22.
Can you make a con save for me, three?
Please.
Please.
It's going to be eight points of damage
and then a con save.
11.
11 is just enough to pass.
Holy crap!
I thought you would roll the 10 and that was the failure.
So take 8 points of piercing damage as it bites into you and then you're gonna take
half poison damage and you are not poisoned.
So you take 6 points of poison damage. Their attacks aren't
great. They are missing a lot. Like, it's not as bad
as... I mean, I am rolling
pretty badly. Like, when I've got advantage
and a plus five to hit, if I'm missing you guys,
it's generally I'm rolling below average.
Yeah, I know.
I'm just saying, it's not nearly as terrifying as it
was.
So, yeah, so that was eight piercing
and then six poison rose for you from that one.
Yeah, I might take another one, I might.
Yeah.
Luckily, they're all focused on Ismark the Lesser right now,
who they no longer have advantage against.
One of them will attack Ismark for 20,
which is going to be a hit.
Damn.
He takes seven more points
and then a constitution saving throw.
Shouldn't that spider need more pairs of glasses?
That's a good point. I'll work on it.
So, half damage from the poison for another four points of poison damage.
Ismark does not look good.
He looks very injured and sickly um as these spiders swarm around him
b that was d that one
i'm trying to track i have a lot of different spiders
you're no longer webbed are you um xeroseros? You've burnt away from it, aren't you? No, I'm free.
14.
No.
The next one against you is a 14 to hit.
No.
And then, Ziki, you are still webbed, though, aren't you?
I are.
Om nom nom nom nom.
That's a 22.
Yeah.
So that is six points of piercing damage.
Can you make a con saving throw for me, please?
Okie dokie.
Popping up a fan on this plus five.
Oh, wow.
That's a six.
That's a six.
You take nine points of poison damage and you are poisoned,
which means you have disadvantage
on attack rolls and ability checks.
Oh boy.
I feel like he's just ready to...
You're not poisoned. You're not poisoned, you just take the damage.
Okay.
And finally, Rose Vanandi.
We should be able to finish this fight.
You're getting rid of him quickly.
I should be able to kill you by today.
No!
You guys are going to win this fight.
I was not worried about you guys winning this fight.
No, I know. Nor was I.
Can I take out my blade and try
and free myself yep so you make an attack roll still at disadvantage but
you can attack the webs they're not particularly hard to hit but it's just total
14
that's a hit against the webs so roll damage
as you try and cut through them
you're not doing any fire damage
are you with your blade are you
no
8 damage 8 damage is enough you cut
through oh thank god swift swipe of the the um short sword uh using your dexterity to kind of
cut at the right points the strands kind of snap and spring and you are no longer restrained
um if you have extra attack you can attack with the short sword again.
Can I stab the one in front of me?
Yeah.
Please.
What was that?
Nice.
17 plus 7.
That's a hit.
That's a hit.
Yeah.
Oh, my Christ.
Five
plus...
Wait.
Slate thingy.
Thingy.
Oh, that's right,
because you can move it,
can't you, as a bonus action?
You can just put it
onto a new target.
Yep.
Plus five, so ten
all together.
Again.
We should have...
When that other one died,
I should have asked you
which one you wanted
to move it to.
You tell me which one
you want to move it to.
But makes sense. Makes sense.
So yeah, you stab forward.
The short sword cuts into its thick white abdomen.
That inky, the white fluid spills out.
But yeah, you manage to strike a solid blow and you are no longer restrained.
Jasper is top of the round.
I will assist Irina attacking this one.
It's attacking her.
Here we go.
Big hit.
18 to hit.
That is a hit.
Piercing damage.
What weapon is it?
Is it rapier that you use as well?
So the two of you, between you and Irina,
she's kind of distracting it with her blow and then you kind of strike forward.
You carve through several of its eyes with the thin point of your blade and rip them free from its sockets.
As you do, Sue.
I will do it.
It's still standing.
It is, is it? Okay.
Dagger then.
23 to hit, 8 piercing.
Oh my god. just enough to kill it
as well, it had 8 HP left.
So as the first one blinds it,
it rears up, you step in
and with the dagger you just plunge it
into its chest several times
and kind of push it backwards
as it flops onto its side, collapsing
to the ground.
The other spiders now
all begin to screech and chitter.
Anything else?
Yes, bro.
I'm going to
move towards the
next
speeder.
Provide some assistance
or distraction
okay
uh
irena
will
i mean she's not
been hit yet
she'll she'll step in
and try and help out
as well
um she'll make an attack
uh to hit
which does
uh d8 plus 5
uh oh sorry shadow
yes for some reason
my encounter thing
didn't roll the way up. It should have been you before
Jesper. Go on, you take your go.
I'll do six damage.
Well, no, I was going to
attack that spider, but there's no point if there's
three butts on it, so I will...
I mean, there is absolutely still a point, because if
you kill it, then that's one less
attack being made against your companions.
Yeah, okay. Can you make a wisdom saving
through DC 14 please yes I read this attack didn't kill it so you're not
wasting any damage that is a 19 nothing I got nothing for you brother this one
does not seem to pay any attention to the Dolorous Bell.
I'll crate closer.
And that's it.
Tom, I like your improvements
to Top Hat Spider a lot.
Yeah, well, Mustache Spider
died and I had to put it somewhere.
His mark will
attack. I can't
quite tell what is on that spider.
The one above Ismark, but
he will attack that one.
He's no longer restrained. Ismark's first attack
is a miss. His second attack
is also a miss. His third attack,
however, with his hatchet, hits
for six points of whopping
damage.
Whoa, watch out.
Ismark's here. Watch out.
Ismark. Hey, man, Ismark has tanked
all of the damage of this fight.
He's just like
he's kind of stumbling around
his veins are all like puffy
from the poison in his system.
He kind of stumbles and like buries
his axe in one's head and then yanks it
backwards. But you can see he's kind of
drunk on poison.
Everyone's I'll be negative. head and then yanked it backwards. But you can see he's kind of fighting Poison. Everyone,
squish this
spiders. Squish them.
He's like
Rocky Balboa.
I can do it.
That was good for me.
Ziki.
Can I
try more savagery and try and claw
my way out of this web?
You want to attack the webs, yeah?
So make an attack roll.
Yes, please.
Whatever the spell is.
I don't really know...
Oh man!
I'm never getting out of here!
That's a seven!
You scrabble at these webs but you just can't...
Hang on.
Hang on, you have disadvantage first.
Uh, favored by the gods. Let's see if I can try that.
Sure, what does it do?
I get a 2d4 if I miss an attack roll or a saving throw.
Right.
Also, give me the total. Give me the big total.
It's a big total. 6...
plus... 8... give me the total it's not a big total it's a big total six plus eight seven six plus seven
eleven fourteen maths fifteen you tear into the web so roll damage
oh my god claws
Oh my god. These elongated claws.
2d10.
So it's 1 and 2.
You shred these ones.
Like, you just rip them off
and you're tearing them to pieces.
You are no longer restrained.
Zeros.
Unless you want to do any bonus
actions or moves, Ziki.
Nah, I'm good.
Alright, Zeros.
Okay, I will do
a regular attack against
Top Hat Boy, which is on Ismark.
And again, another sweeping
attack to hit the one that's
on Ziki right now.
Okay.
At least on the first
attack, anyway.
So 23 to hit.
19 fire damage.
29 points of damage
in total.
Jesus.
There it is.
Monopoly spider.
In a burst of flames
that spider just ignites
and stumbles back
screeching.
As it just stumbles back, collapsing to the ground.
The one next to Ziki
because of the...
Yep. That one looks...
That one staggers around on its feet, barely
able to stand up from the various
attacks it's suffered already.
Okay.
How's Zke looking?
Has she taken a lot of hits?
Rianna's giving you a kind of half-half.
I mean, half for Zeke is like
one health, right?
Sure.
Okay, yeah, I'll hit
the one next to Zeke
for the second attack.
This time a 20, 17 damage and 8 fire.
That's the one attacking Ziki, yeah?
Wowie.
This sword might be overpowered, Park!
Yes, Thomas, let me tell you something, it is overpowered.
You have made a pact with
Asmodeus, and you got a very cool
sword out of it.
It's great.
With one uppercut slice,
you cleave the spider in two,
and it just falls apart around
ZT.
Dwayne.
You split it in Dwayne.
Alright, the last few.
Three left. The last one will go the last one
will go for the one it senses the weakest which is rose does not have advantage that is a 14 to
hit rose no manages to deflect away uh a heavily injured one goes for poor old Ismark.
Misses.
And then the last one, which actually hasn't taken any damage so far,
will throw its fury onto Zeros in an attempt.
21.
Oh, it does hit. Okay.
All right.
That's going to be five points of piercing damage and a constitution saving throw.
Constitution save.
Sixteen.
Sixteen. You take half poison damage.
So you take three points of poison damage.
Neat.
I rolled like absolute trash.
So yeah, it bites into you, but you barely feel it.
It tickles you.
Yeah, my blood is more poisonous than what he just gave me.
It's more acidic, certainly.
Rose, only a few left.
Can I, seeing that Ismark is drunk on poison,
shoot the one...
Can I switch...
Can I switch that?
You can switch to your bow you'll still be
at disadvantage because there's an enemy next to you as long as there's an enemy within five feet
of you you have disadvantage on range i might not i might just stab the one in front of me twice then
sure yeah yeah absolutely still very viable and if you kill it then you can always jump never mind I suck distracted through your
clear worry for poor Ismark
the strikes
oh wait no that's a 14
that's a 14
7 plus 7
so
the second one strikes true
5
man plus 1 five man
plus one
oh my god
I literally hate this game
so fucking much
when do I get the fun coin mark when
when do I get it
technically these are
damage rolls so it
doesn't count
no the nat one on the dice there, and the low rolls before that didn't.
I'm out, this is bullshit.
This roll makes me die.
Actual bullshit.
Right, anyway, moving very swiftly on.
Yazpa. No, Shadow, sorry. It did the thing again. Shadow.
You know what I'm going to do?
I'm going to toll the dead
and I'm going to
toll it on the one that's attacking Ismark.
12pm or something, I keep hearing a fucking
church bell.
Dong!
It failed.
It failed.
That is 21 points of damage
on Ismark's
it had 6 hit points left
and you just dealt 21 points of damage
to it
as this bell just shudders and it falls
to the ground twitching
we get it you clock
anything else Shadow
if not Jesper
nah I'm staying here.
Sure, Jesper.
I'm gonna make quick work of this boy.
Can you finish off this remaining beast?
That's not a hit, no.
It kind of throws itself to the side.
Eleven? Good.
Just desperately swinging.
End it! End it! I'll just kill a spider every turn is fine I'm like an extra in the background of all
yeah I think so far shadow and Xeros have dispatched all of these spiders I think except
I got one like this Chad has not been at disadvantage or hit, though.
She's just...
Rose is normally at range, but she
just didn't get to go before I threw
webs on her.
Alright, Irena will...
Irena will try and...
The NPC will save the day once
again. 24 to hit.
Yay!
So, yes, Faris,
you keep this thing busy.
Irena comes in behind and just
starts stabbing it
in the back as you're keeping it busy.
Freeing up you and Rose
who are no longer fighting this thing.
Um...
Nice.
Ismark in his thing. Nice. Poison Stupa will run up next to his buddy and swing three times.
First attack is a miss, second attack is a miss, third attack is a miss.
Oh no!
His weapon is spinning through the air.
Steel trying to cut, but he's like fighting another spider that isn't there.
He's just like, I'm a good spider!
Oh my god.
Tiki missed that.
I'd like to level 2, guarding vault this boy and get him done.
Okay, let's see if you hit.
8 plus 5.
13 is not...
13! No!
It's not enough? It's AC 14.
No!
Shoo!
The guiding bolt sails through the air in a sweeping white trail.
I am loving life!
I hate everything.
It's okay, what's up?
We'll take it, there's no problem.
That's it, there you go.
28 plus 36, 46 damage please, Mark.
Jesus! 28 plus 36 46 damage please Mark Jesus
The second one also
Yeah the second one kills it
I was going to say the first one doesn't quite finish it
But the second attack definitely does
Oh boy
We did it guys
We did it
You did it
And we end today's session With the vanquished bodies of many spiders
and the now barren, empty ballroom.
And from inside this darkened manor,
you just hear this heavy,
the breathing of something old and large and ancient.
And that's where we're in today's episode of Curse of Strahd.
I need to rest.
Oh my god.
You need to rest. You need to rest and you need to rest
you need to rest and you need to not
roll roll 20 dice
and need to
roll 20
and wander into
evil spider dens
roll 20 is the worst thing that I think has ever happened to me
anyway before we end
we just want to say thanks to our sponsors,
Roll20, today.
That will never happen.
I object.
Big, big monies.
I object.
It's not going to happen.
The thing is, at least this time,
it wasn't like I was rolling like a god
and you guys were rolling really badly.
There's the fucking 20 for Jesper right there.
Here's all the good rolls. Here's all the good rolls.
Here's all the good ones.
But yeah, at least I wasn't rolling
like a god this week, unlike that
time in the Burned Castle.
They didn't hit us nearly as much as you'd think.
They could have done some serious
damage.
They could have done some serious damage.
Right.
Is Mark getting close?
Yeah, he's not doing great, the poor boy.
Yeah, seriously, thank you, everybody.
