The party have recovered three of the artifacts
necessary to help them defeat Strahd.
But with Madame Ava and Jesper gone beyond their reach,
the party have no way of knowing
what else fate has in store for them
within Barovia. Meeting with Esmeralda and with turmoil and despair at their heels, the party
head to Krezik for safety and a chance to regroup. They meet Alvarski, a strange young man haunted by
something, as well as the abbot, an even stranger figure who has celestial beings at his command,
and the whole town of Krezik as his devoted followers.
The Abbot claims to be a righteous enemy of Strahd, and wishes to help the party assault Castle Ravenloft and stop Strahd's plan to escape Barovia,
but asks them to do one thing for him,
recover a young woman, someone precious to him, from a kidnapper who escaped into the northern woods
the northern woods are hunting grounds for werewolves in search of the girl along with
esmerelda irena and ismark the party finds signs of battle as well as a young terrified man who
claims the girl is more than she appears as is the abbot uh and that my friends is where we are this week that brings
us pretty much up to date uh in terms of exactly let's probably a good idea actually is to have
everybody just kind of reintroduce their characters a little bit just kind of say who they are what
you're playing their general kind of gist or something we know something important to know
about them.
Just because it has been a while, we might have some new people in chat.
And also, it's a good reminder for all of us as well.
And also, it gives me time to tweet that we're live.
Okay, Chris Trott.
Me?
Tell us, yeah, who you're playing.
Tell us who you're playing, what you're playing,
all your fast race, all that stuff, and all your secrets.
Well, some of your secrets.
I'm playing a character called Alvasky.
And Alvasky is a strange monk
who seems to keep his words relatively short.
And when he does speak, they're very weird words indeed.
Sometimes completely oddball and curveballed
and other sorts of balls.
Squash balls. Squash balls.
Squash balls sometimes.
I've only recently joined the party
having been under the
abbot's
guard, I assume.
And I have ventured out
on his wishes to join the party
to help find this wife.
This bride
to be
and that's all you really know about
other than some people have seen some stitch marks
anyway moving on
yes
I believe the only
person who has seen those up
close was
the Maya and Rose
I think
Tom Maya did, yeah.
Both Meyer.
Yeah.
Meyer, Meyer.
Yeah, technically both Meyer and Moatbow.
Well, speaking of the Meyer, Tom and Rhi.
Tom, lead us and then Rhi, follow us up.
Tell us about the Meyer.
We could both talk at exactly the same time
and say exactly the same thing at exactly the right pace.
Right, Rianan?
Yes.
Yes.
No, okay, so no.
I am playing the Maya, and Rhi is also playing the Maya,
a tiefling that has been split in half, undead, torn asunder.
in half undead uh torn asunder uh growths of mold and mushrooms infect me while reemire is i'm all like insect hives and bits of wood and maggots and bugs and webs lovely stuff
yeah and we have uh we have a telepathic link with each other
because we are essentially the same being
born from the land of Barovia,
a dark curse on everyone.
You are a manifestation of this kind of, like,
the land itself.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And we also have some curveballs and golf balls
and stuff to say as well.
Oh, you've got balls too? Nice.
We've got big balls.
Nice.
Three. Giant. balls and golf balls and stuff to say as well oh you got balls too nice we got we got big balls giant i mean i don't want to use the term speaking of big balls i i was just like is there another way that i can reference this kim tell us about dog's body i segue hi i'm playing
dog's body and he's a perfectly normal human man
who's misplaced his top.
Thank you.
No.
Do you want to give us a bit more detail on that, please?
Dog's Body is a Scourge ASMR, and he is a blood hunter.
Order of the Lycan...
He's a werewolf.
Well, he's not a werewolf.
He's a kind of werewolf. He has been afflicted with lycanthrope. He's a werewolf. Well, he's not a werewolf. He's a kind of werewolf. He's been
afflicted with lycanthrope but has
managed to kind of channel it into
a boon rather
than a curse. Healthy ways.
Yeah. Totally healthy ways. And he's a
totally healthy man.
And his
accent changes
because.
And his balls are furry.
Next up.
Yeah.
Strong good boy.
Big furry, strong good boy.
And then last, the equivocal, the movie trope final girl,
the only survivor from the original party, Katie.
Tell us about Rose.
Rose is fed up. Rose is is done she's done with this shit
no um rose has got one more job left to do she's got one big job left to do a monster slayer ranger
and um yeah only member of the og party left um having lost her close companion shadow and now lost a friend yesper the dragons
went along the way but she wasn't as close to them so you know we had dragons good who knows
but yeah she's pretty dragons she's pretty done i don know. It's pretty depressing for old Rose. I also have at least one kind of final request from Shadow,
who has been transformed into a vampire by Strahd,
and who was very much a priest of not being undead,
has basically gone, please come and kill me.
Please, this is the worst.
I also can consider myself a priest of not dying so no no no not necessarily of dying
of being turned into undead shadow was very anti-undead and has now become a believer too
yeah i hate the undead they suck and now i am one it sucks come kill me please thank you
she's on a quest to put shadow to rest put shadow to rest but you are all obviously all
all bound by another greater cause which is that strad von zarovich the vampire lord of the realm
of barovia has insulted harmed opposed all of you in some way um but you have also learned that through the abbot
that
and I'm not sure if I think
Xeros did mention this though not in full
that Strahd plans
to escape Barovia
which would be very
bad. You don't know
how, you don't know why
but that has definitely been
conveyed to you and you know that something
is happening in castle ravenloft uh he's also seeking irena also known as tatiana who is
traveling with you um who was a barovian woman who has awakened to this knowledge that she is the
same soul that has constantly been living separate lives,
centuries and centuries, reborn, reborn, reborn.
And that Tatiana was the kind of object of Strahd's desire.
He greatly desired Tatiana.
He saw Tatiana as his,
even though she was married or to be married to his brother sergey um but strad
greatly desires tatiana and has pursued her quite relentlessly um although sometimes uh he's been
distracted by other things and yeah that is where we are you guys find yourselves on a quite gentle shore uh around a large lake at the center of
which is an island with a collapsed ruined tower uh a bitter memory for dog's body and rose the
only two who would reckon and esmeralda uh who would actually recognize it, having escaped from there after being chased by a big watery face of Strahd himself.
But you are currently on its kind of northwestern banks
where a young man, a young Barovian man,
wearing kind of white vestments, covered in blood,
looking very shaken and scared,
has kind of been telling you what happened to this girl he
was traveling with vasilika uh this woman that the abbot greatly want greatly desires to have
returned to krezik um and he imparted a story to you that they'd been traveling they were attacked
by some wolves and this vasilika girl tore them apart with her bare hands um and then after kind
of getting him to safety at the shore and telling him to stay there and and be be safe she then
proceeded to travel somewhere into the hills you don't exactly know where she's gone um but
somewhere into the hills but definitely more going on the seams mind i will also point out
alvaski very seemed to react very strangely to some of the revelations that the boy gave away
uh certainly about how uh the abbot was more than he seemed and that you know vasilika is more than
she seemed and things like that definitely seem to trigger something in alvasy uh you have irena uh ismark and esmeralda all traveling with you
that is a great summary of where we are so now i'm great i hand it over to you summary let's go
um didn't uh you say there were wolves imminent in the end of the last episode
i said you heard the howling of I said you heard the howling of wolves.
Yeah, you definitely heard howling of wolves.
So what would you like to do?
Some of us are in the forest, aren't we?
Like looking out.
I think it's...
Who is it?
We were sat with Esmeralda, ready to jump out if stuff went wrong.
And that's when we were scanning Alvarski
and then deciding whether or not we actually like Alvarski or not.
I think we determined, no, we're not really a big fan of Alvarski.
Does not seem...
You got the sense that Alvarski is not quite natural.
There is definitely something...
Too many people in one body
was, I believe, the kind of idea you came to.
You guys are in the woods with Esmeralda. you're kind of on the very far edges of the shore like where there's this kind of shale
uh kind of slope that leads down to the you know the lakes waters you guys are currently up in the
trees watching this this whole affair from above um so you guys would definitely hear the howling closer to you
uh the rest of you on the beach which i believe is is irena is mark uh dog's body alvaskian rose
you guys are all down there with this young lad um and i can't remember his name i did give him
one it's been like three four weeks dwyer thankyer. I was like, I couldn't find his name because I probably made it up on the spot.
So I couldn't find it.
But, yeah, so you are down with Dwyer on the shores.
What would you like to do?
What do I – what's my voice again there we go there it is that's it um
i appear to be hearing the sing song of my well i don't really want to say brethren but
them wolf pricks they're coming.
See, Dwyer, the young boy, has just kind of pulled his knees up to him and just kind of sinks down to the ground.
And he seems a little bit too shocked and kind of bewildered
by everything that's happened to really seem to have any kind of mind
of what to do or where to go.
You just see him kind of sink down, hug his knees,
just kind of start shaking, just like,
no, no, she's going to protect me.
She said that she would go and stop them.
And you just kind of hear him muttering to himself.
We need to get this kid out of here.
He's not in a good state. And them walls are gonna tear him apart.
Yeah, but we can't... we can't go back if she's still out there. We need to find her.
I have a feeling she's gonna come to us. Or, more specifically, him.
I have had no dealings.
Directly. Why would
she come to me?
I wasn't nodding at you,
Aldersky. I was nodding at Dwyer,
the kid.
She protected him, though.
That's what I'm saying.
She's going to come for him.
I don't think we need to worry too much about where she is right now
because she's going to come for him.
Maybe we move further away from the wolves.
It looks like she's very capable of taking care of them herself.
taking care of them herself.
Those of you in the woods,
the howling stopped a few moments ago.
You guys can make perception checks if you want to kind of like keep an ear out
or tell me your passives, I guess.
Probably more accurate.
Tell me what your passives are.
My passive is 14.
15 and 14.
Riemeyer, you do hear the sounds of something in the woods moving through them.
Something is maybe far off yet, but within hearing range um you can hear something uh down on the beach the
kid doesn't look like he's you're gonna have to either drag him pick him up carry him he doesn't
look like he's really going anywhere uh he just kind of begins walking back to the rock that you
found him at uh as if he's just about to just sit back down uh his mark definitely is kind of keeping his weapons drawn,
looking around, nervous at the
howling of wolves.
I think I'll just turn
to Esmeralda and just say
something approaches.
She nods
and will
let's see here
scaffold
Esmerala's stats
um
yeah she nods and will say i am going to circle around see if i can catch them off guard
and then she will attempt to in fact she'll just cast uh she doesn't have
normal invisibility on herself so she will just try and sneak into the woods okay so she see her
like kind of back off and kind of tiptoe away from you guys merging in with the trees uh you see her
for a little bit reemire tom byer she just seems to blend in with the foliage and quietly begins making her way off
are there any trees nearby yeah there's like a whole the whole there's a quite a thick forest
um which circles the lake so apart from this kind of shale rocky shore that you're currently stood
on with the boy those of you who are with the boy are on this kind of, yeah, like, you know, shale-covered, curved shoreline.
But up on the back, like, when you get further away from the lake,
it becomes thick trees and thick woods.
That's where you'd come from initially when you made your way down.
Alvaskan's going to go climb a tree.
Okay. Yeah, sure. I'm not going to make you make a cathartic check. You just make your way down. Alvaskan's going to go climb a tree. Okay. Yeah, sure.
I'm not going to make you make a cathartic check.
You just make your way up there easily enough.
Climb up into the trees,
probably near where Maya is currently hiding.
You make your way back up there and just climb up.
Sure.
Sure.
I think I'll cast
Pass Without Trace just to like
cover myself and Tom Meyer
so the two of you are under the effect of
Pass Without Trace
nice
are we fighting or are we fleeing
Rose what do you want to do
I guess wow where is everyone Are we fighting or are we fleeing? Rose, what do you want to do?
I guess it's... Wow, everyone...
Where is everyone?
I mean, you see Avasky run off and just start climbing up a tree.
Ismark watches him with a cautious eye.
Irina looks to Rose as that's who you were asking.
Well, I'm not going to stand and fight if people are hiding right now.
Well, I'm not going to stand and fight if people are hiding right now.
We should move back towards...
Back towards the village, the walls.
Get Dwyer safe.
And then see what happens.
We can't travel with...
We can't travel with him right now.
Okay.
Just get your silver weapons ready, yeah?
I'm going to kind of gently grab Dwyer by the arm
and just kind of try and guide him to where we're going.
I guess we're going to go back to the tree line.
As soon as you try and pull him away from this rock he's just like no no i have i have to stay vasilika said said to wait here for her and like he's he's resisting like he's he's not coming with
you like he's like no i have to stay here you can't wait here the wolves are coming no she's
gonna she said that she's gonna take care of them no
i'm not going
uh he's yeah he's just
clinging like to the rock unless like
physically pulled like you'd
have to strength check him away
like he he's pulling
against dog's body you know trying to
resist
going
uh the maya can hear alvasky to resist going.
The Maia can hear Alvasky muttering
to himself.
I'm not sure why they're trying to move the bait.
Oh.
The bait. I like it.
How much do I like it?
Really, how much do you like that? I kind of like it how much do I like it really how much do you like that
I kind of like it
yeah
I'm trying to get the girl
I'm trying to get the girl
yeah
this is so hard
to do
when three of the team are having their own little conversations
in their mind and it's just
Rose and Dog's body like, what do we do?
It's so hard.
One thing is, Ismark is just like,
whatever we do, we need to make sure that the
boy stays quiet and he's looking around.
We're trying to keep you safe
I don't know you
you're just strange as you came out of nowhere
Vasilika
I care about her and she said to wait
here she said that she was going to take care of it
and then we'd be safe to run away and
I saw what she did
I don't want to make her
angry
listen kid
I can hear wolves
but I can't hear your girl
you might
have to be prepared for the worst
you didn't see what she did wolves You might have to be prepared for the worst.
You didn't see what she did.
Wolves.
She's not going to be afraid of any wolves.
You see that every time he speaks, it's just like this dead eye stare.
Like, he does get angry, but, like, the way he speaks about it is you can see that, you know, he was definitely frightened by something that happened.
he was definitely frightened by something that happened
Maya
Remaya
you hear
something coming towards the
shoreline you can hear
things moving in the woods behind you
and they're close now they're very
very close you get the sense
that they are coming towards
where the team are talking
you're not sure if you've
been detected you don't know that but they're making their way this way you can hear just the
very faint cracking of like twigs the people on the shore can't hear it because like they've got
the the lake kind of lapping up against the stones um they've got the conversation with the boy
distracting them but you and therefore Tom
because I'm guessing you guys tell each other
but you can sense that there is
definitely figures you can't tell how many
that's the only thing is some of them
are either being very very quiet or
maybe there's only a couple of them but you've definitely
heard at least a couple of figures making their way
this way
I quietly whisper to Alvasky
to say
they're approaching.
Silence now.
Very well.
Hopefully that one, okay, picks up.
And he points at the boy.
Okay.
As you're kind of having this conversation on the ground rose uh dog's body and with the boy
with dwyer um figures do emerge out of the tree line you didn't hear them coming um but you sense
uh there is three uh three two men and a woman um and they kind of they look like woods woods folk uh you know they've got like
loose tunics one of them's carrying a big two-handed axe one of them's got a spear uh one
of them has what looks like a crossbow uh and they kind of step out of the woods and look down. Ah. What's this then?
Found the boy we've been looking for.
A little thief.
What do they smell like, Mark?
To a...
Make a perception check.
A little...
Nose.
I get advantage on that.
Make a perception check for me.
You do.
I rolled a 19 highest minus one.
Because, yeah. so that's an 18
it's difficult because you kind of have this large lake behind you
so you're getting like the smell of like the water and the rock and kind of all mingled in but
i mean there's they're standing maybe upwind to you as well which is you know you got
an 18 that's pretty high i'd say there's a a very familiar scent it is the scent of kind of beasts
and uh damp caves um the smell of blood all kind of mingles in but unfortunately for dog's body it comes tingle it comes uh mingled
with uh very unpleasant memories that would probably unsettle dog's body a little bit this
kind of you remember the first few nights of the transformations you remember the beatings
uh that you received by the pack when they were trying to kind of break you um make you obedient
the pack when they were trying to kind of break you um make you obedient that sort of thing you remember the the desperate attempt to flee and it just leaves you for a moment although you kind of
sense it and familiarize it it kind of just leaves you a bit bewildered uh rose what about you how
what do you want to say anything back or
no i don't think she will at the moment.
Okay.
I think she's just going to stare them down.
The two men start making their way down the shore.
What are you doing out of here?
We'll gladly take the boy off your hands.
You can see
they're kind of looking around
warily as well
as they draw closer
the woman with the crossbow
stays up on the
by the woods up on the
top of the shore looking down
dog's body's
curling his lip
you can tell his jaw's clenched and there's a low
growl like just what did the boy do
their eyes lock with yours dog's body and there's a not flash of recognition
because you don't recognize these ones individuals
but they smell you
they just grin well i guess trickery is out of the question
and you just watch as their bodies begin to shift and break. Their muscles expand. Their hair seems to grow long.
Their faces, their skin splits,
and this terrifying jaw emerges
as they transform,
including the one up on the hill,
into werewolves.
And we are going to roll initiative.
Oh, straight away.
Goddamn.
They smell Dog's body.
They have certain things that they know about.
I need to add a bunch of people to this encounter
to make it easier for me.
Esmeralda is Mark the Lesser.
And there's three of them, did you say?
There's three of these werewolves, yes.
Uh-oh.
Uh-oh.
Uh-oh.
Uh-oh.
Running counter.
Rarrow.
Rarrow raggy.
Rarrow.
It's what doggy, uh, doggy?
Oh.
Is that your dog's name?
Doggy?
Doggy.
Oh, doggy. Oh, good doggy. Oh, your dog's name? Doggy? Doggy. Doggy.
Doggy.
Doggy.
Okay.
Give me those initiative rolls, please.
Starting with Rose.
Seven.
Seven.
Irina.
In fact, I'll roll for Irina later.
Dog's body.
Fifteen.
Fifteen. The Maya. Rhiannon 12 12 the Maya Tom 11 and
I'll Vaski six nice I will say these three these three werewolves do not seem to know about the Maya or Alvarski.
They do not seem to be aware of you guys.
So any attacks against them will have advantage.
And in fact, you guys, I would say, if you want to do anything,
you would technically have a surprise round because they don't know you're there.
So the three of you could take your actions.
They also don't know where Esmeralda is.
You guys could take your actions first, and then we'd go into the first round of combat and you can decide you know what order you guys want to take that in so do these i don't know if
werewolves count as beasts uh they do not know them they're they're like um monstrosities they're
like human human monstrosities
shit so dominate beast and charm monster they won't work charm monster would charm monster
works against everything basically okay yeah beasts would not i'll probably throw a charm
monster down at the one closest to us which i guess is the uh crossbow
one at the back woman yeah the crossbow woman up on the top yeah um she's like standing not that
far from you she just doesn't seem to have noticed you maybe mistaking your scent for the natural
world perhaps uh with the past without a trace the smell of insects and moss and things like that
uh you were overlooked um yeah you can definitely attempt that red powder sort of
sprinkles from the tree above her she uh breathes that in oh suddenly this will reveal you this will
reveal you casting any stuff yeah she's now off her tits so it's fine uh she has to roll a wisdom wisdom save of 15 15 I got a 16 cool nothing happens so you watch this kind
of sport and over her and you see her like blinking and like looking around in
confusion I'm still the surprise round so Rima I'll ask you if you guys have a
think Rima um are they the other the other the other two werewolves are they you guys have anything? Ruma?
Are they, the other two werewolves,
are they about like 60 feet from us?
I'd say, yeah.
Like, I'd say probably not even that far.
I'd say at the moment,
we kind of have the team down by the lake.
They've got their backs to the actual water, so there's nowhere for them to go behind themselves.
They have to move past these two werewolves
and the third one to get back to the kind of, you know, tree line.
There's about sort of 30 foot of shale shore,
30, 40 feet of shale shore.
Then there's a very slight kind of slope,
maybe like a 10 foot slope.
And then there's the woods and the tree line.
So they're about sort of 50, 45, 55 feet away from you.
So can I...
I'll drop the part about Trace
and can I cast Web
and try and make a sticky barrier
between them and the rest of the party?
Do you want to try and create that
between the two who have moved forward
and the rest of the team?
Or do you want to try and lock those guys already into the webs oh yeah i might try and lock them in actually yeah let's do
that yeah it makes sense that like because they're currently separated they've got like maybe 20 feet
um you know they're about 20 feet away from the rest of the party as they transform while they
were walking down um the one on the the one closest to you guys the one with the crossbow
she's not going to be affected by this it would just be the two moving closer to the enemies
uh to the pie so what save do i need to make on this x13 save x13 oh they uh that one's actually
cocked i'll re-roll that one okay so one of them gets completely like the fur of their transformed
hybrid form gets all stuck in the webs you see
like their limbs kind of locked in place but the other one almost seems to smell and sense it and
leaps to the side avoiding these thick strands of sticky webs that encapsulate the area but it does
leave the area anybody moving into or out of that area is going to have the same problems of the webs, I believe. Nice, yeah.
Okay.
In that case, Alvarski.
I'm going to whisper to the Myers.
The plan is muddled.
Makes no sense. What am I
doing?
Okay. That's the
whole turn. They can respond, assume right they can yeah free speech
the one below us the one below us it's still a threat
ah can i uh i've got a shape changer right That's part of my Traits
Can I? I don't know do you?
You tell me I don't know how much you want to give away
I yodeled then
Can I change my
Appearance
You wouldn't be able to look like a werewolf
No no no
Can I change my skin to look like a werewolf form i don't know no no no um can i change my skin
to look like tree bark that i'm the tree that i'm at i would say you can make it the same
color as tree bark you can't make it take on the appeal like it can't look like tree bark
same skin color as close as i can resemble the hue of this tree yeah so you basically
have like shift to like these brown tones and like you know all of this kind of yeah this kind of
maybe it'll be a pale birch almost actually um but yeah so kind of like black and white
kind of jagged shapes and stripes all over i wish to quietly get behind them without them
detecting me at all.
Well, you're undetected as is.
You're currently still undetected.
That's why you're getting the surprise. They haven't noticed you.
In which case, I
wish to attack them
jumping onto them
and just beating them
as much as I can. I guess it would be
an advantage.
An armed strike.
Here we go.
This is 11 to hit.
You've got advantage.
This...
You do have advantage, yeah?
As I said, you do have surprise.
Roll again.
15.
Okay, so because of the advantage, as you down what is this like a kick or like a you know you sort of like like punching as you land next to them i think it
would be using my body weight and the foot going into like collarbone kind of thing as much as
possible you swing down um very sturdy the impact hits You're not going to knock them to the floor, but they do take a heavy blow
as you almost kick off them to land successfully down
because you have slow fall.
You don't take any damage from jumping out the tree either,
so easily enough.
But yeah, you fly down.
That's six bludgeoning damage,
and I'm going to spend a key point to do two unarmed strikes
as a bonus action so
do your unarmed strikes count as magical weapons as a monk your Sun soul I think
they do they usually do that is radiant yeah that's the thing usually do after
level I am level eight.
I'm pretty sure they do at this point,
but we'll check just to be sure.
We'll check.
So I think this is on the key strikes.
Two regular strikes and then an unarmed strike.
He does have extra attack as well, yeah.
He does.
You're right, I do.
Key and powered strikes.
Key and powered strikes, so they do count as magical, your attacks.
So that actually does damage against this guy.
And then you get your extra attack.
And then you can spend a ki point to do two unarmed strikes.
Is this an advantage now, or is he aware?
I'd say this would be normal attack,
because now you've kicked him in the back of the head.
This creature is now aware that there's a threat, and they're now defensive. Fair enough. And this would, I'd say this would be normal attack because now you've kicked him in the back of the head.
This creature is now aware that there's a threat and they're now defensive.
Fair enough.
So that was only an 11 to hit.
So this, against like a normal person,
you think that this punch or whatever it is would hit,
but this creature moves with surprising agility
and manages to kind of pull themselves away
at the last second.
But I'm going to spend a ki point and do two more unarmed strikes nice yeah you're getting used to playing
a brand new class like we'll take it easy 13 to hit that does hit yes this time the the second
strike comes in your magically enhanced fists six damage six more points and then 16 to hit on that one that hits six more
wow awful damage rolls i mean it's not on three attacks
oh my god but that was rolling all ones and you still did 18 points of damage. Yeah. So
super good. You come down with
these flurry of strikes, these multiple
kind of blows. You see this
werewolf holding this super heavy
crossbow, just takes these blows,
gets pummeled by them, and then just
she snarls.
One of those classic
footwheels, brothers.
I've not caught one fish yet.
Nice. It's the end of my turn.
From the tree line.
Oh, here we go.
What did she cast here?
You see... Ah, one of them's webbed.
You see Esmeralda dart
from her hiding spot in the tree line.
She slides down the slope of the shore,
down onto the rocky shadows,
and lines the two of them
who had advanced from the party up.
And you see her bring her hands back,
and a bolt of lightning comes flying out of them.
Because one of them is webbed,
I believe it automatically fails the saving throw on this.
Because I believe it
incapacitated.
Let's have a look.
I'd love to see it.
Incapacitated, restrained.
Has disadvantage on deck saving throws.
So I'll do that one first.
That is
14, which is a success unfortunately and then the other one is
the one who isn't webbed actually fails um which is bizarre but that's how dnd works sometimes
so you watch as she kind of slides down she lines these two up the one in the webs manages to just
twist itself enough that esmeralda wasn't expecting it and it avoids most of the damage but the one in the webs manages to just twist itself enough that esmeralda wasn't expecting it
and it avoids most of the damage but the one behind it does not see the lightning bolt coming
and takes it full blast to the chest uh that's gonna be 11 14 16 19 26 points of lightning damage um and then 13 points to the other one as this blast of lightning just
echoes across the lake um as this bolt of blue
slides past uh striking both of these werewolves and you see them like
ah and they just cowl and cry out in pain as she does so uh that
is it for the surprise round now we go in initiative and the werewolves will respond in
kind um each creature that starts its turn in the web or that enters them during its turn must make
a dexterity saving throw uh creature restrained by the webs can use its action to make a strength check against your spell dc or if it succeeds it remains straight okay so the first
one who is trapped in the webs is going to use this action to try and break free uh what's your
spell save dc there 13 13 it does manage to break free so with these giant claws it just reaches
down and it just tears and rips at the uh at the webs and then it is going to
basically sprint forward um probably to engage esmeralda just did lightning bolt them yeah one
of them's going to rush towards uh esmeralda the other one who wasn't restrained has to make a
saving throw at the start of their turn uh they succeed and they are going to probably dash towards Rose and Dog's Body and Irena
probably engaging
are we meant to be
seeing a map by the way
no not just yet this is all theatre of the mind
unfortunately
let's see here it recognises Dog's Body as a threat
but then it also knows that Dog's Body is probably
going to be the stronger one out of the three
well that's what they think anyway
so it's between Rose and Irena i will roll a d6 one two three irena four six rose five
rose so this this werewolf rose and i guess for rose this is you see this thing and this isn't
like dog's body where you know the person this is everything that rose has probably uh dreaded
since the since her brother comes rushing at you
she's mad she's not like scared of it though no no yeah this is kind of like this she's ready
this thing that you hate comes charging at you um and he's just gonna unleash its attacks into you
uh the other one by the way is just gonna turn and attack alvasky the one up on the uh up on the uh hillside um i'll do these in order so that one's rushed off
uh the other thing is you see that there are two other shapes that come emerging out of the woods
that nobody had seen yet uh and in fact they're going to engage the two mires. Two very large wolves
come barreling out of the woods
seemingly lurking like predators.
In fact, actually no, one's going to
join the fight against Alvarski
and one of them is going to go for the mire.
The other one is going to join the fight
against Alvarski.
So, going in order,
the direwolf
against Alvarski is going to go.
It's going to make a bite against you. It has
advantage because it has an ally
within five feet.
That is going to be a
16 is the highest there, Alvarski.
Yeah, that hits.
So, that's going to be 2d6
damage. So, that's
eight points of piercing
damage, and can you make a strength saving throw please
here it comes that's a whole heap and six this thing as it bites you it drags you down to the
floor like gets its teeth around your leg and it pulls you to the ground and you just feel the kind
of all the weight taken out from underneath you as you are pulled to the ground um beneath the threat uh meanwhile the
werewolf on the beach uh who was struck by lightning uh is the one that charges rose and
is going to multi-attack um it keeps its great axe in in its hands uh it's going to attack once
with the great axe and then once with a bite. It's going to try and bite you.
So great axe is only a 12 to hit Rose.
No.
And then it tries to bite you,
which is only an eight to hit you.
No.
So you kind of managed to defend this thing off.
Even though you've got your bow out,
you either managed to kind of like pull up a hand,
like kind of like knock it to the side
or dodge out of the way as this thing tries to swing down at you and bite it does kind of call
out just like leave at least some of them alive for lord stride and krill um as it's kind of
calling it out uh the second dire wolf uh is the one that's going to go for Remire. This one doesn't have advantage. That's only an 11 to hit you, Remire.
Does it hit?
Okay.
And then the werewolf above,
the one that formerly had the crossbow,
she throws the crossbow to the side
and is just going to claw downwards towards Alvasky
and then bite down as well
and will have advantage on the attack rolls
because you are prone.
And it's going to be a 15 to hit alvaski on the claws
that's right on the money
right on the money
that's five eight points
of slashing damage this time
and then a bite as well
and that is going to be
a 17 which is also a hit yeah and that is another
uh oh that's seven piercing damage and i need you to make a constitution saving throw please
okay here we go oh my god four oh you've rolled so many ones today crazy cool as you're pulled down to the ground i'll ask you
the claw kind of rakes across your chest um and then just before you can even try and defend
yourself these giant jaws clamp down on your arm as you try and like hold off defend yourself um
the the bite is particularly nasty as it kind of chomps down um and you just you kind of throw yourself off and you do feel
slightly unwell um as the teeth come away uh after them that they all go first but like they
literally their initiatives were very very high dog's body um i am going to um to bring down my axe
and taking a look at the one that's attacking Rose,
kind of just say,
I've been looking forward to this.
I would like to activate Crimson Rite,
so I will wound myself,
and it's going to be lightning damage.
So lightning will crackle down the heart of
the blade of my great axe uh and i am gonna swing at this fool that is attacking rose um okay
first hit is a 19 uh plus six so 25 to hit that will definitely hit. Do you want to roll the second attack now?
8, 9, 10, 11.
I rolled all my damage dice with it,
so I can do that if you want me to do it now.
And this is with the greataxe, yes?
This is with the greataxe,
so I rolled 7 plus 4,
and it's magical now because it's got Crimson Rite on it.
So 7, 8, 9, 10, 11.
11 points of greataxe damage
and 5 points of lightning
damage okay just remember you won't get the blood spear effect if you kill with the great axe um
that's cool uh yeah the great axe comes down and with a great swiping blow it carves deep
into this werewolf's flesh you can see he's not wearing any armor um it just kind of cuts through
and they as this great gash rips across their muscular, furry form.
And then the lightning seems to course through its body,
causing it to spasm,
where it's already been sort of blasted by Esmeralda's spell.
Still standing, but looks heavily wounded.
Deep, deep, thick black blood gushing out of its wounds.
One more attack, so I've got extra attack.
I rolled a 10 plus 6, so 16 to hit.
Well, very easily hit.
Eight points of axe damage and three points of lightning damage.
So this one nearly knocks the creature off of its feet a second
gash this time across its kind of swollen belly as this great axe digs deep and cuts this great
blow and you can almost begin to see guts and things coming out but in it in an almost like
berserker rage this creature is still fighting and it just foam and spittle comes out of
its great maw.
Can I position myself in a
way that I know I can't like get
Rose out of its range of attack but just in a
way that it kind of has to
go through me to get to Rose like
just kind of like yeah.
You can't position yourself you can position yourself to the side
of Rose so that it
you know it has a choice of two attacks,
but you can't push Rose out of the way.
Unfortunately, that's not how it works.
That's fine.
In RP terms.
You've certainly injured it enough.
Yeah, in RP terms, you're like...
I will try here.
Yeah, and that's the thing.
I'm peacocking.
Yeah, well, even visually, you know,
you've got like an arm trying to defend rose but the
creature can just sidestep around you and attack her if it needs to right that's it you just can't
physically stop it attacking her um let's see here uh irena shall um kind of step back and she will...
Seeing the fight, not kind of knowing everything that's going on.
Nobody looks like they've been hurt apart from Malvasky,
which she can't reach just yet.
She will...
I think that she'd think of this
she is going to begin to kind of sing
this almost old
Barovian lullaby
around the creature that you've
heavily injured
dog's body she begins to kind of
sing this soothing
children's you know
song in old Barovian
and she's going to try and cast sleep on it five six
eight 15
22 and you watch that in its injured state this one that's like you know nearly been like
cut apart its eyes just kind of flicker closed and it will softly it will fall a slumber uh before your
blade dogs boys it just collapses to the ground um asleep that'd be five hit points off i neither
you nor rose have less than 17 hit points do you no then you guys also do feel like oh man this
this song is so relaxing,
but it doesn't send you, it doesn't put you to sleep.
Thankfully, not strong enough to do so.
Rhiannon the Meyer.
I'd like to take some shots at the werewolf that's attacking Alveski.
Okay, you do have a dire wolf.
There is a dire wolf, like, on you. you it didn't hit you but it's still next
to you so oh you have crossbow expert don't you do you ignore like if there's a creature
oh okay in that case make your attack sure so it's 19 plus 5 to hit for the first time
yeah easily so it's 1d6 plus two
three damage and then isn't magical is it uh no it's not it's just standard damage so you see that
the the bolt just doesn't really seem to have much impact it almost like bounces off the creature's
hide it should pierce in it does but it kind of just pops out almost instantaneously um not quite having a damaging effect on this creature
okie dokie can i then seeing that turn around and then go for the dire wolf for like
my other two attacks yeah of course you can direct your attacks however you want
so then yeah i'll turn around and then fire my last two bolts at the dire wolf.
Sure, go for it.
Bum-ba-da-bum-ba-bam!
17 to hit.
Yep.
Point-blank range, you just kind of...
empty a bolt into this wolf's flank.
That's eight damage.
And then can I mark that as favored foe you can cool
then i'll use a bonus action to take the final shot 17 plus five that hits and then the first
crossbow bolt marks it with these kind of like buzzing insects and creatures and then the second
bolt is almost guided in place um cool. And then damage on the second one.
Five damage on that one.
The bolts against these dire wolves is having its full effect.
You can see that there's no unnatural resistance to these.
These seem to take blows from weapons normally,
but the werewolf, yeah, definitely,
you should have dealt more damage to it than you did.
That's your whole turn?
That is my whole turn, yeah.
Tom Meyer. So is Reemeyer still in the tree, um that's your whole turn that is uh my whole turn yeah thank you tom meyer so is is re-meyer
still in the tree and also the dire wolf that was fighting her well you guys weren't up in the tree
you were hiding in like the the the woodlands you weren't actually up in the trees you guys were
hiding in the woodland itself alvarski went up the tree but you guys were just like you know down in
the the grow in the you know bushes and shrubs. So you guys are like
still in that forest section
there's this one direwolf and then
Alvasky has one of the werewolves and
a direwolf next to him.
Well I want to infuse myself
with the wildlife around me with symbiotic
entity. It gives me 32
temp HP
and among other things and i want to time out and uh basically go
face to face with the wolf and the werewolf that's fighting alvarski um yep so as a reaction
when they enter my range of 10 feet or whatever, they need to both roll con saves.
Okay, cool.
For my halo of spores.
So the werewolf is going to pass.
That's like a 19 plus a lot, I think.
Oh, yeah.
19 plus 2 is 21.
But the direwolf fails.
Yeah, the direwolf fails.
So what we see...
So for those of you on the shore,
you see one of the mires
kind of just emerge from the tree line
and the fungus seems to almost grow around them like armor,
becoming like this kind of protective layer.
And then all these red spores just seem to...
I also like...
I'm latched on to leaves and branches around this bush. I basically pull the bush with me
but it becomes part of my armour.
Amazing.
I love this.
The halo of spores then infects the
wolf for 8 damage.
Poison damage?
Necrotic damage.
Necrotic damage, okay.
And then i want to
uh do a where was it a blight on the werewolf yes a big white yeah um annoyingly it's a con save again but well i mean they can still roll low i didn't i rolled a 17 plus 2 is 19 but you still
do half damage half damage 88 boom one uh 21 damage 42 max 21 damage even half even though
this creature seems to resist some of the pain, it kind of its body jolts upright
over Alvarski.
She screams
as these red tendrils
almost rip up from the ground
and like skewer her veins
and just like she finds
to kind of pull them out and resist this
kind of toxin or some sort of
draining essence from
your spell. Awesome. And then i want to and then i
want to push out vaski out of the way and get in between them can i do that on my turn or
no you little troll uh okay uh back on the ground that's your turn done i'm assuming uh
yeah that's a lot that's a lot right is mark
uh with his cool phantom of the opera mask and he's like bandaged hand where he got all burnt
and fucked up uh with his silver flail that he did get out of esmeralda's uh pocket uh he looks
at the one that's currently asleep at dog's body he looks up at the one that alvasky's just fighting
just get absolutely wrecked and he turns
to the one that's run towards esmeralda and he's going to chase that one instead thinking that like
well i think everybody else has got these handled i'll just go deal with this one uh he's going to
make three attacks two with his flail and one with his hand axe uh so we have the first one hits. The second one also hits. So first attack from old Ismark
is going to be 10 points of bludgeoning damage,
which the werewolf does not resist,
as it is from a silvered weapon.
And then the second one is going to be
only five points of damage from the silvered weapon.
And then the hand axe which is
not silvered unfortunately is still a hit um but is somewhat resisted and he does three points of
damage so you see uh ismark comes in swinging the flare like ah for barovia and then he cuts down
with a hatchet um the werewolf kind of staggers from the blows curse it silver foolish
boy we will make sure karyle it's your heart rose there is a sleeping werewolf completely at your
mercy at your feet there is also one that is marked as fighting yeah that's just engaged
esmeralda and is marks fighting and then there's the one which it's just obviously being hit by
some powerful spell but it's over alvarski um which would you like to go for
the one i think she'll focus on the ones that are still up right now. So the one that is Marcus fighting,
I think she's going to just pull out some silver arrows.
And I think you got 20 of them from Esmeralda, right?
I got some from Esmeralda.
So that is 16 plus nine. F nine fancy dice hard to read sometimes yes
that hits yes um wrong dice that's an ala one never mind um oh seven plus four seven eight nine
eleven damage silver arrow silver arrow bites into the werewolf's chest. You see it kind of turn like
ah, ah.
And that
is a 14 plus 9.
That hits as well.
Yeah, these guys aren't wearing armor or anything
that...
Is it a bonus action?
It's a bonus action. I get it on a second yeah yeah you
can only applies to one um so eight damage on the second arrow and then five damage from slayer's
prey oh so you see these arrows kind of thud into the werewolf kind of like boromir and all the
rings the first one impacts it nearly spins it around. The second one catches it in the side and you see all of their
movements just slow down. They kind
of drop to one knee, heavy
breathing, still alive but
on death's door for sure.
Cool. That's me.
That's all my stuff.
Nice. Esmeralda is after you.
She will look over to you, Rose.
Well, she kind of nods her, like, almost kind of gallantly,
kind of like gestures to Ismark and then nods at Rose as a kind of,
why, thank you. You've weakened it for me.
And then we'll pull out her own hand axe and silvered short swords.
And she will also make an attack.
That is going to be a hit on her hand axe
and a hit on her silvered short sword.
Silvered short sword.
Silvered short sword.
And just with the hand axe alone,
she cuts the werewolf's head off.
There's just no mercy.
It's just she looks disgusting
and then cuts the head off
and just lets the body slump to the ground um then she will
just begin making her way over towards the one over alvarski but she's not going to have enough
movement to quite reach it uh alvarski your turn uh alvarski thank you is going to spend a key point to step of the wind
Okay, he's going to what's this gauge?
It allows him to disengage or dash as a bonus action and my jump distance is doubled
so
Can I step of the wind jump back into the tree?
And from there, I would like to use my
bonus action to disengage. What's your
strength score?
It is plus one.
Now what's the score?
Like not the full number.
Thirteen. So you can jump
twenty, thirty, thirty
nine feet in a single jump.
That's a long jump so
half that would be 15.
You can jump about 19 feet up.
So you roll out of the way, and in a single jump,
you just land back on the tree branch that you jumped down.
Yeah, 19 feet straight up.
So you just watch as you kind of flip over,
and you kind of almost sense this kind of celestial energy
as Alvarski leaps back up into the tree. flip over and almost you kind of almost sense like this kind of celestial energy as
Alvarski leaps back up into the tree
the werewolf almost in a panic doesn't
realize what you're about to do and
doesn't have enough time to react and get that opportunity
attack. I'm going to
use a radiant sun
bolt to do
an attack on
the wolf from up here which sends forth
literally a bolt of radiant energy so
so yeah so how does this look when alvasky does it after you roll the attack roll
let's see if it hits first 13 it does yeah so what do we see like how does this work with
alvasky this is the first time that people have seen you use this ability so so what he does is
like uh almost like a underarm baseball throw,
but he throws his arm in a curve upwards,
and that sends almost a blade of radiant energy
throwing down and slicing the direwolf.
Nice.
Give me that damage, son.
Here you go.
Click.
Ten points of radiant damage.
That definitely doesn't resist that. So you just watch as like the blade. click. Ten points of radiant damage. That's not sick.
Definitely doesn't resist that. So you just watch
as like the blade kind of
pierces this female werewolf in the chest.
Black blood begins
streaming out but the blade just disappears
into light. It just burns away.
Just leaving this gaping wound.
That's me.
Did my bonus hand action. Is it you?
Oh. Do I have more? more oh extra attack yeah i can do this as an extra attack as well so i get to do another one ding dong here we go thank you for that that's a
25 to hit that's it basically i'm just playing a new class arcing both arms one after the other. They go back to one.
Six points of radiant damage.
Sweet. Six points of radiant damage.
Very similar to
the one that
Rose's arrows, the two
blades impact, the werewolf
drops to her knees and she looks panicked.
She looks scared, bleeding
heavily. Not dead, but
heavily, heavily injured. She looks scared, bleeding heavily. Not dead, but heavily, heavily injured.
Is that it,
Alvarski? End of turn? Yes.
End of turn. Okay.
Back up at the top,
the first werewolf is dead.
The direwolf that had been engaging
you, Alvarski,
it will
probably just react
in a panic and go for Tom Meyer
because it saw that it did something unpleasant to one of its masters.
So it's just going to go for you.
That is a seven to hit you.
The Meyer rolled very poorly.
So it just kind of chomps through the air.
Doesn't seem to connect.
The werewolf that is asleep is asleep,
and I'm pretty sure it stays asleep until you wake up.
Pretty sure, yeah.
I'm going to wake it up.
Yeah.
Until the spell ends, the sleeper takes damage
or someone uses an action to wake it up.
Yep.
So that thing is asleep.
The second direwolf that was attacking re-mire will uh basically you'll get a free swipe at it re as
it's going to charge towards tom meyer as well um sensing that he is the greater threat uh so if you
want to make a melee attack yeah go for it 12 uh against the dire wolf, that is not enough.
It's just kind of the thick hide and coat.
The blade just doesn't quite strike through.
With its companion, it now gets advantage with pack tactics.
That is going to be 14, Maya.
Yes, that's enough.
Okay, I need you to make a strength saving throw for me as well.
Oh, my favorite, plus zero. Seven seven it's also ten points of damage which I know is gonna
come out your temporary hit points but yeah eight on my strength save you are
not prone by the second dire wolf oh I was a little bit too cocky.
Well, you've got temporary hit points, right?
You had, like, 30-odd temporary hit points,
so it comes out well.
Yeah, I still got 22 left.
That's pretty good.
The female werewolf,
with Alveski jumping out of her range,
Esmeralda making her way towards her,
but no other threats.
She is going to run, but she's going to make uh
attacks against tom meyer who is prone as she begins running into the woods she's actually
going to kind of swipe at you twice she gets advantage um she's going to try and make you
make you pay uh for what you did so the first attack is with a clause uh that's a natural 20, Thomas. Oh, cool. Cool. So max dice, 8, 10, 13.
16 points of slashing damage
as she rakes her claws against your body
as you're dragged to the ground by these dire wolves.
And then she's going to attempt to bite you as well.
That's going to be a 15 to hit.
Oh, yep, that's good. be a 15 to hit oh that's yep that's good
it's good it's good uh that's five more points of damage and i am gonna have you make a constitution
saving throw even though this is still temp hit points it's not for that tom i know i'm just
wondering that oh i know exactly what I know, I'm just wondering.
Oh, I know exactly what it's for.
I'm just wondering, you know,
they're still biting into my mold at the moment.
But sure, constitution save.
Interesting.
How interesting.
Because, you know, in raw D&D, Tom, it doesn't matter if you have temporary hit points.
Things that trigger on an attack, if it deals damage,
it still deals it.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
No, I hear you.
You just feel like this woman bite down into you
and then, you know, something in the symbiosis seems off.
And then she just continues the rest of her movement,
getting about 20 feet into the thick woods.
I would say at this point has probably good cover
from anybody who's going to try and shoot ranged weapons at her,
but is 20 feet into the woods.
Dog's body.
You are on the shore,
so there's about 45 feet to the woods,
and then she's about 20 feet beyond that so she's about 65
feet away from you currently
and there's a sleepy boy
or you can go for the sleeping one
there is the sleepy boy
do I get advantage because I am going
to attack him while he's sleeping
you don't need to roll anything
you can just outright
kill this guy
I'm going to take a look around roll anything. You can just outright kill this guy.
I'm going to take a look around,
kick him with my foot a little bit,
and just say... The sleep is beginning to wear
off as you nudge him
and kick him, but there's
no time for him to react to anything.
Disappointing. And then bring
my axe down.
Just cuts the head
clean off executioner style
just separates
and just thick black blood stains
the rocky shale beneath
it
I think Rose will smirk a little bit
when both bodies says
that and does that
even Esmeralda kind of looks back and there is a kind of like smirk a little bit when he says that and does that even
Esmeralda kind of looks back
and there is a kind of like
hmm very good
kind of
impressed look arena
maybe doesn't it's not that she's disappointed
or mad but there is a kind of that she
you can see that she sympathizes with anything
that's killed kind of thing like she's a very
kind soul and so it's kind of like oh he was sleeping well maybe it was better he died while
he was sleeping rather than in pain dog's body is not going to notice any of this because he's
just going to be staring intently focused down all right just yeah well i mean you you chopped
the head off this guy you've still got some move and bonus actions left uh i am going to forfeit
them because i'm going to be thinking some deep things about life and dog's body and werewolves
all right um okay uh after dog's body uh irena will begin making her way up the up the shore
she gets about 30 feet which does bring her into range to Healing Word.
I think Alvaski is more injured than the Maya
because you can see the Maya's got all this fungal armor.
So she's going to cast a second level Healing Word on Alvaski
for not a lot, three, four, five, six hit points.
Alvaski, enjoy those. That's a bonus action she moved um i don't
think she would do too much with her own action um she will just kind of prepare her rapier but
doesn't really get to do much else reemire you are probably the closest one to the fleeing
werewolf she's about 20 feet away from you in the woods she does have some
cover if you try and shoot at ranged attacks
at her as she's kind of
weaving between all the trees trying to
use them to her advantage
what would you like to do
I'm going to draw my short sword and I'm going to
cast Zephyr's strike as a bonus
action and chase her down
what does Zephyr's strike
do that's exactly
what I was going to do on my
turn.
So it gives myself
30 feet of extra movement
and until the spell ends, my movement doesn't
provoke opportunity attacks.
And I get to do 1d8 force damage on
a hit. Well, you will
definitely reach her. So
you kind of watch as these bugs almost like millions of
these bugs on the ground almost lift you up and help you speed along like these like flying things
pick up your cloaks and your your body and like all these bugs just kind of launch you forwards
as you nip through the trees and then bring the weapon down uh yeah make the attack roll nice and i'd
like to do um gathered swarm as well and give myself an extra d6 if i hit if you hit yep 10
so the first strike she manages to dodge and it kind of impacts into a tree um you're over
fifth level.
So do you get or are you over?
I can't remember.
Are you multi-class or are you?
I'm just a ranger.
I can do extra attack.
Yeah, there you go.
You got extra attack.
So you can make a second attack.
But the first one, yeah, she just dodges, thunks into the tree.
Second one.
19 plus five.
19.
Strikes dead into her back as she tries to pull away for the second time.
You can roll damage if you want, but you don't need to.
She had two hit points.
Oh, really?
You can roll damage if you want,
because there was a lot of stacked damage there,
an extra D8, an extra D6.
Just in case.
The blade just cuts into her back and almost like tears through on all these bugs swarm into the wound to begin festering and eating away you just
watch as she just slams to the ground unmoving he's joined to the Maya now the bugs just begin swarming over it ready to consume
feast feast my children
uh but with that there oh there's still the dire wolves actually i forgot that there are still two
dire wolves in all of this kicking off uh and they are above the person who is next which is
tom meyer there are two giant walls over you good good to
know how do they want to do it how do they want to kill me I've got I've still
got max health and 110 HP now they're coming there they'll chomp on their
temperature turn say oh it's my turn oh okay I thought sorry in that case, I want to stand up.
That's for damn sure.
So they don't get disadvantage. And I will...
Okay, I'll do a poison spray on one of them.
So they need to make a constitution save.
That's going to pass. 17.
Son of a bee sting.
And nothing happens
when they pass.
And that's pretty much
me.
Actually, I'll use my reaction to do
my symbiotic goo,
my druid circle thing.
That's everything within 10 feet, right?
Every enemy, yeah.
Yeah, so that's both of them.
One passes, one fails.
Yep.
Cool, another 2d6 on them.
Boom.
So half damage to the one who succeeded?
No, just they don't take any damage.
No, no damage at all okay no the other one
takes six he watches the spores begin infecting them and probably doing nasty things to their
insides without them realizing it um but no immediate effect uh on his turn speaking of my
insides can i feel anything messing around with my insides okay Okay, cool. Neat. All right, nice.
Fine.
His mark on his turn will run up from his position
where he was fighting the other werewolf,
and he will pick up the heavy crossbow
that the other werewolf dropped,
and he will level it at one of the wolves
attacking the mine.
He's not very good with it.
He does roll a natural fucking 20, though.
Bring it on! He's boring. Ring-a-ding-ding. He's boring! he's not very good with it he does roll a natural fucking 20 though oh
15 points of damage as he uh yeah he kind of like kicks the crossbow up into his hand
leveries it and then and it just rips through the neck of one of the dire wolves um doesn't kill it
but does a ton of damage.
And then he just kind of shoulders it and poses and looks cool.
Rose, these two direwolves are still attacking the mire.
What a cool guy. Oh, my gosh.
He is so cool. He's the true hero.
He's the real hero of this campaign.
Yeah, he really is.
Does Mark and Rose walk out as, out as the two heroes at the end?
I will...
Probably.
How close am I to those direwolves?
I mean, you're like 45 feet, I think,
so I don't think you moved from your initial position
because you were shooting.
Okay, I'll shoot again then.
Yep.
Normal arrows or silvered arrows?
You've used two silver arrows.
So...
I've got magic arrows, actually.
Sure.
As well.
I might use a magic arrow.
You can use those if you'd like.
Okay.
19 plus 9 to hit.
That hits the big wolves.
Yes.
Only 6 damage on that,
but also 4 damage from Slayer's Prey.
Which one do you want to target?
The one that Ismark just hit or the other one?
The one Ismark just hit looks very injured.
That one.
Okay, so 6 points.
10 if you include Slayer's Pre and then okay the slayers pray
actually kills it so the crossbow bolt through its neck heavily wounds it and then your arrow
just pierces through one of its eyes into its brain and the large wolf just slumps to the ground
uh dead nice and second one will be an 18 plus 9.
That is also a hit.
7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, because it's a magic arrow.
I forgot that.
So 12 more damage on that one.
12 more damage.
That one also takes it deep in the side of the ribs,
probably puncturing some sort of organ
as the wolf lets out this horrible kind of like yelp
and then howl. It just begins growling and sort of limping um still kind of engaged in this must
defend must protect must attack kind of mentality um anything else rose do you want to move up do
you want to get closer um i think she would just probably yeah get get a little bit closer and also
she's probably looking at the one that
the mire ran after to make sure that
everyone else is taken care of and
looking at the woods and seeing if there's anything
else because she wants to make sure everything that's
been eliminated
alright cool that's where you do that
Esmeralda will move up but she
will stay a little bit at range and will cast
fire bolt so she raises up her hand
and a kind of bolt of flame will come out of it.
Plus six to hit.
Does miss, actually.
Seven plus three is 13.
The injured wolf manages to kind of leap to the side
as the Firebolt scorches overhead.
Missing, she kind of is like,
curses to herself.
Alvarski.
I'm going to jump out of the tree towards this injured wolf.
Slow fall.
Come down with a cool kick.
No, he's going to run towards them and then unleash my first unarmed strike.
Okay.
Just punch in the face.
Yeah, just fully punching it.
There we go.
That's a sweet two.
Tender hit.
It does not.
You kind of swing wide,
and it's kind of trying to defend itself.
It yields back.
Extra attack.
Here we go.
That's a 412.
That also misses.
It does connect,
but it doesn't just have the force to go through and cause any damage.
Okay, in which case I'm going to spend two key points,
which I can do after an attack,
to do...
What's it called?
Searing Arc Strike.
Immediately after taking an attack action,
I can spend a key point to basically do Burning Hands as a bonus action.
I can spend additional key points to make it a higher level.
So I'm going to spend two more key points.
No, one more key point to make it second level.
Okay.
So that's 2d6.
I will say that you're going to obviously angle this so you don't hit the mire, right?
You're going to try and angle this so that you catch it without catching the mire.
Sure.
Just gripping its fur
and just setting my hands ablaze.
Sure.
So deck saving through?
Yes.
DC?
It is 11, I believe.
It fails.
Six plus two.
Eight.
What?
Full damage.
Here we go.
Two ones coming up.
That's...
That's... That's a two.
I'm pretty sure that Burning Hands
isn't 1d6 of damage.
It's 2d5.
I can read what damage of the spell.
It's 3d6 base, so it's 4d6.
Plus one for four. Yeah, it's 4d6.
Right, yeah.
Alright.
Oh my god.
Oh my god, you wrote two ones and two twos
as bad as me
you're cursed
y'all cursed
six
points of damage
I will say that burning hands
would probably set the
wolves fur on fire so it's
going to stay ignited I'll deal it
like a d6 damage every turn because it is on fire so it's going to stay ignited i'll deal it like a d6 damage every turn because it
is on fire um damage and yeah i love it yeah it's well i mean no it's the flame would set
its fur on fire i think that that is logical we'll take damage and then you know a d6 of damage to
represent it being on fire i think isn't too much um but, the flames engulf the werewolf, the dire wolf, sorry.
End of your turn, Alvarski?
Yeah.
Okay, so you watch these radiant flames burning all over it.
On its turn, I'll have it take D6 of fire damage.
It takes three points of fire damage.
Heavily, heavily injured.
It's charred.
You can smell its flesh cooking.
And just in a fury,
it's just going to try and lash out.
Let's see. It's got mayan next to it it's got uh alvaski next to it i don't think anybody else has moved up next to it um so it will
it will just it's probably attack alvaski this flaming beast will try and leap on top of you alvarski uh for 19 plus 5 is 24 it hits um 8 9 11 points of piercing damage i'll
make it do an extra d4 of fire damage to you it's another a point of fire damage as well as it is on
fire as it like bites into you and drags you tries to drag you to the ground so 12 damage total
and then a strength saving throw please oh here we go i rolled a three so that's
seven you are also prone as it drags you to the ground it is now on top of you this burning wolf
that you have set on fire is now like pinning you to the ground and just in death throes this
thing knows it's gonna die and it's trying to kill its attacker. It's just trying to kill the thing that's after it
as much as it can.
Dog's body.
So it's just this burning boy that's left.
This on-fire wolf that is pressed down on Alvarski.
Sweet.
These wolves did more damage than the bloody werewolves did.
Yeah. I'm actually gonna can i make a perception check because dog's body he's gonna be looking around he's like
this was too easy where was the rest of the pack um so make a... Yeah, I mean, that's going to be your action. Yeah, I will do that then.
Natural 20.
But I do have minus one on perception, so 19.
I mean, you don't smell any other people around?
You don't hear anybody lurking in the woods
or see any movement in the trees like
you seem to be
alone as far as you can
tell I mean most
of that sound is blocked out by Arvatsky
in the distance
and this wolf
and the smell of burning dog
yeah he doesn't make
a sound
when he gets hurt
no that's actually true
Albaski just doesn't react
almost right he's just sort of like
that was funny though Tom it was funny
yeah okay no you're right
it wasn't
sorry
I'm just
I'm just gonna say to Rose be careful
I don't like this
I don't know
where's the boy Dwyer
is he still
he's at his rock
he's not catatonic
you can see he's been watching the fight
but he just hasn't left that spot
like this large rock that he was
sat on before just hasn't left that spot like this large rock that he was kind of sat on before
just hasn't moved from it yeah okay i'm just gonna be aware all right okay uh irina will see
paul paul alvaski uh and she will uh cast another healing word only at first level though this time uh oh four hit points alvasky um wow and then she that's it
i think she doesn't really you know have much she's not gonna go into a fight with a flaming wolf
um so she's just like probably probably says to ismark she's probably gonna in fact uh no
that was a bonus action she'll just say ismark Isma, quickly, go and help him. Get that thing off of him.
And he's just like,
yes, my sister.
And he's just running towards it.
Rimaia, you dashed about 20 feet away
from this whole scene
to finish off that last female werewolf.
But yeah.
Somebody, please kill this wolf.
It's so nearly dead.
Someone, please.
We can end the combat.
I'll come back through, back to where the direwolf
is and take take some crossbow shots just like mercy killing it with the head
back of the head oh i wish you missed both yes and with its three hit points left you kill it as you just put a bolt in the back
of its head
it kind of slumps burning onto Arvatsky's body
and people help pull it off
before it does any damage
and that is us out of combat
that is us out of combat
leaving you all
in this
moment of stillness
these dead werewolves, the dead wolves.
Seemingly alone, from what Dog's Body can tell,
nobody else lurking nearby.
So,
can I,
just since Rose is probably on edge at the moment as well,
given the werewolves.
I'm trying to find the thing.
Primeval awareness.
Tell me what it does.
Actually, no, it's not going to work.
Never mind.
That's not gonna work never mind that's not um well because
is are wolves considered monstrosities werewolves dire wolves uh werewolves i think they count as
they count as shape changers they're humanoids but they count their shape changers they're humanoids
um dire wolves i believe are monstrosities dire wolves are no that's a winter wolf i'm looking at
i want a dire wolf please dnd beyond come on i didn't say winter wolf i said dire wolf
foolish foolish fool uh they are beasts so they are natural animals dire wolves they're just
big super aggressive dominant variants of the normal wolf
so werewolves are not monstrosities then they don't count as monstrosities
what's the for the what what's the purpose what are you trying to do you tell me what to do and
i'll say if it makes sense favorite enemy i would say that they would certainly count as
your favorite enemy yeah so i think what I want to do is just sort of,
um,
I have advantage on survival checks to track my favorite enemies.
So I just was wondering if I could kind of scout the area with that in mind.
And sort of,
since Rose knows them,
just sort of see if there's anything else out there.
Yeah,
absolutely.
Give me a survival check
with advantage i'd definitely say that rose rose's knowledge you've studied these creatures
you would definitely know how to track them and knowledge about them and things like that
uh 18 is my highest 18 i would say um there is definitely a track to follow you're not sure if the track will fade
off you know you don't know how far it goes but there is definitely enough evidence of where these
creatures came from um and it leads up to the northwest into the hills um you know that much
whereabouts in those hills it goes you don't know know yet. You're going to have to follow it, maybe make some other checks.
But they came from there, certainly.
And that's the way that Vasilika went.
That is what Dwyer, he pointed in that direction.
He said she went that way and said she was going to take care of it.
Okay.
Interesting.
I think Rose would say that to Dog's body
because she's standing next to Dog's body.
It's just to relay where they came from
and
where the general direction
would be if we wanted to track them.
Yeah.
You know,
it's strange, Rose.
I've been thinking about this moment for a long time.
And I just...
Yeah.
I don't feel a goddamn thing.
It was quite interesting because I feel similar right now.
I spent a long time hating werewolves for what they did to Ben, but there's nothing. I don't feel anything. I don't feel happy
that they're gone when I kill them. I don't feel nothing. Just numb. I don't know if it's
this place making it worse Esmeralda
will actually she was standing nearby and just say unfortunately that never really changes
you can kill as many of these things as you like and it's never that satisfaction never comes. Never makes you feel complete.
The only thing that does is maybe helping a family who lost a loved one,
giving them the news, putting a soul to rest,
maybe even rescuing someone from time to time.
That often is more satisfactory.
But the death, I see it as you don't feel anything when you kill a termite
or a mosquito. You're just ridding the world of another problem. That's what we do, Rose.
Problem solvers. And perhaps, dog's body, you too. More of a problem solver than I gave you credit for.
You know what, Esmeralda?
I agreed with about half of what you just said.
And frankly, for the rest,
you can just piss off.
And then with that, I'm just going to walk off
and go towards the boy
sure
I think Rose would go with dog's body
actually
she just shrugs
doesn't
doesn't matter to her really
what dog's body thinks
it's probably a bit more like when Rose chooses to go with dog's body there's a bit more of a kind of like all right well i think it comes down to the fact that
like i think there was a little bit of like when rose used to go out sort of training and hunting
with her brother he would sort of do the kind of thing that dog's body did where he would try and
put himself in front of danger or her so there's kind of that like yeah of course dog's body did where he would try and put himself in front of danger or her so
there's kind of that like yeah of course dog's body is your friend as well yeah yeah there's
like that connection of yes he he's got um this um curse but also he's kind of reminding her a little bit of her brother, which is kind of all she's got at the moment
since everyone's gone.
Everyone's gone.
Whilst you guys have that moment,
Ismark will come up, look down at Alvarski.
Are you all right, my friend?
He offers a hand to help you up.
Yes.
You took that strangely well
I can't say that I was as resilient
burning doom in front of me
yes
you take what you love
you put it on a tree
and that way
it remains an extension of you
he just looks around
he looks at the mire
I thought you were the weirdest one amongst all of us
he just looks back at Arvatsky
and then goes to Irina
I'm not touching crazy
I'm done
this guy freaks me out
Ismark is creeped out by Arvatsky way too much
I imagine that as Ismark looks back to the mire,
I'm crouched down by this wolf carcass with the bugs
and watching them feed.
I'm just like, yes.
What's other mire doing?
Does other mire conjure spores and mushrooms?
Because mushrooms feed off decay and stuff as well
I think it's more my
I guess my symbiotic
entity is slowly withering away
so there's bits of me that are just
falling off
we are
a grotesque party
I love this party so much
I'm also just like
examining
Alvasky as much I can before
he intervenes right like
he's not like the others
and I want to know more
okay so like even when he was
prone I was almost like stood above
him or just like trying to
pick apart bits to figure
out what he is
I guess attempting to open the robe to figure out what he is.
Almost even attempting to open the robe, I suppose,
or whatever he's got under there.
I mean, does Alvasky stop him, or is
Alvasky just sort of like, whatever?
What are you doing?
Tree.
You are not like the others,
the humans.
You are pieced together from many others,
bound for the grave, bound for the pyre.
I do not know.
But they were bound for the mire,
and yet here they stand, stitched together.
So many lives reside in you.
What are you?
I'm not a tree.
Nor am I. I'm not a tree.
Nor am I. I am the mire. But you are not human.
Subsumed in the mire, the bacteria will die.
What made you this way?
How did you... How did you get here get i think that question would definitely trigger flash
memories for alvaski of a cold stone table cutting the abbot so golden so bright so painful though so afraid but so glorious but afraid he looks down
go on
just a memory of the first thing
the abbot ever said to you
imperfect
but you'll do
wow
those
final words are the only
words that he just
verbal diaries out of his mouth at Those final words are the only words that he just...
verbal diaries out of his mouth at Tom Meyer.
So you just get a string of random words and stuff, yeah,
and then you hear those words.
Imperfect, but you'll do.
You'll do.
You fought well, protected us.
You fight for us.
You'll do.
You'll definitely do.
What of the bait?
It's alive.
The boy?
Yes.
He sits on his rock.
The time we waste speaking
is the time Basilica
is not back.
Basilica will come, and one day you will
speak to me, Alvarski.
I speak to you now.
What more do you need?
I require the truth,
Alvarski.
What is the truth?
I have nothing to hide.
I'm not hiding anything stop it
and as he flares with like radiant energy
she's like
you see his skin almost like underneath his skin
like his veins glow
for a moment his eyes shine bright
but that glow
highlights those stitches
you can almost see that
the joins the pieces
that have been put together
you will find your truth
you are like this wolf
a single entity
yet inside
thousands are inside
oh god
jesus
i love you too i love you guys you're the best this conversation is so horribly creepy and weird
and i love it um the rational thing whilst i think that is mark becomes the kind of like
what are we waiting for? We done?
What are we doing next Rose? Do you know where those things came from?
In the mountains there is a track, but I don't know how many more there are
It's the same direction seems difficult to kill well, then we should go ask them to rescue this girl
The fact that they were easy to kill,
I think Dog's Body and I feel the same,
that that wasn't most of it.
There's a lot more to come if we follow this trail.
Well, then we go carefully.
We try and take some by ambush, perhaps.
Or maybe this Vasilika, if the boy speaks through,
if she can tear apart wolves with her hands,
maybe she's already weakened their number for us.
Maybe she's given us a chance to get in,
sneak in, perhaps, go unseen.
Or maybe we just camp outside their little cave,
ambush them when they come out to hunt
or to do whatever business wolves need to do.
Shit, I don't know, take a piss.
We kill them when they come out.
It's not just that there's something that we don't know about krezik is it krezik that these people can remember yeah krezik yeah it's where um where alvarski and the abbot and all of that
are yeah yeah there's something that we don't know about Krezic, and I don't know how to get the truth from Alvarski
and from this boy and what Vasilika really is.
There's something not right here.
I don't know if we can trust anything.
Esmeralda, Irina, Ismark, and esmeralda will kind of look at each other
esmeralda will probably say well i just so you know i i absolutely don't trust the abbot in that
sense there's clearly something going on whether he's mad or some sort of creature in disguise i
don't know but the fact is is that he's an enemy we he i know for certain that he opposes
strad and he has those those angels i'm sure you saw them they'll be powerful allies against strad's
creatures the castle ravenloft is is a bastion under strad's will whether or not we can trust
the abbot i don't know if we have a choice.
Well, something's wrong with the way that
the way that Alvarski has been treated
and also Vasilika. She's
run away. I don't think
we're going to be able to get her back
and therefore we won't have him on our side
anyway. She's run away. She's not going to
go back.
Well, this is your...
I feel that, Rose, you and your companions have been in this fight just as long as I have.
I think I'm going to continue to try and get this girl.
I think that... I don't think we can get to Ravenloft well.
The only other way I can see us of getting inside ravenloft and having
a chance to destroy strat is if he invites us honestly do you want that to be the situation
if you know of a way that we can get inside of barovia if we if we can get away inside the
castle without without the abbot's help i'm more than happy to not help that creep.
But I just can't see it.
We need the forces.
We need people.
But I just, I don't know what this is going to cost us to get there.
We don't have a lot left to give.
And I'm willing to keep going but the point where we do
get betrayed whenever that point is inevitably this is barovia i don't know what our next move
will be there neither do i but i think i'd rather try and deal with the abbot after we've dealt with
stratt if the abbot needs taking down if the abbot's a've dealt with Strahd. If the abbot needs taking down,
if the abbot's a threat to the people here,
I'll help you deal with him.
But I think we've got to make Strahd our priority,
especially if he's up to something.
If he escapes Barovia Rose,
you've seen what he's done here.
We can't allow him to escape no matter what.
Even if we have to make a deal with the devil,
I feel that we have to stop Strahd
somebody already made
a deal with the devil didn't get them very
far
hopefully we won't have to
I'm just trying to think of if it comes down
to it but still
if you and your companions need a moment
but I'll start getting us ready to
well I'll start looking
for this trail you mentioned
she just like nods
is Mark and Irina
Rose we'll follow you whatever you
wish to do I understand your concerns
whatever this
abbot has done to
Alvarski to this Vasilika
to this Dwyer I don't
like it I don't like it, I don't
there's a sense of unease there
if you think that it's
better to turn away from this path
perhaps there are other allies that we could find
the wizard
I know that he seemed erratic
mad, but maybe
there's a way that we can help him
restore him, the wizard
that we met help him, restore him the wizard that we met
but apart from that
the only other
thing I can think of is that we know that
Strahd wants me
perhaps if I
bring you to the castle
that would give us a way inside
I don't
want to put you in harm's
way like that
not without a force of
potentially angels
maybe other things behind us
we can carry on
I just think that when we get
back to Krezic we need to be
we need to have our guard up
I agree
anything else from anybody else?
I'm going to go to the boy.
And just be like,
hey.
Yes.
You killed them.
No, she's probably still trying to deal with them.
I'm not leaving.
I'm staying here until Vasilika comes back
I'm not afraid of them
what if we took you with us
to meet her
I don't know if I can
trust you you'll just take me back to Krezik
you've already said that's what you want to do
how do I know you're not lying to me
we could have just let the werewolves take
you if i know that you don't necessarily mean me harm that doesn't mean that you won't take
me back to cresic i i want i either want to wait here for vasilika or i want to go to where she is
do you promise that you won't take me back to cresic
you promise that you won't take me back to Krezik. You promise that you won't take me back.
You'll take me to Vasilika.
I promise I will not take you back to Krezik.
Looks at you.
Dog's body's being 100% honest.
Yeah, I know.
It's also you promise not to take him back to Krezik,
not that you take him to Vasilika.
It's all right. Well, I'll go with you.
If you want that to be a part of it,
we're going to Vasilika
now. You come with us or you stay
here and you probably die.
I'll come with you.
But if I think you're going to Krezic, I'll
run away. You won't
catch me. I'll hide.
If you run away around here
in the woods, you will die.
I'd rather
die
than go back to Krezic without
Vasilika. Or worse,
go somewhere else without
Vasilika. She's the whole reason I
left that place. I'm supposed to help
her. He just kind of stands
a bit more triumphant but he's he is
willing to go with you if you're going to take him to where you know you think vasilika is he
will follow um stay out of sight come on kid let's go just kind of all right by the way the
whole time he's been talking he's been holding a werewolf's head like he's been a wolf's head
and he's still holding it and he just like carries it around with him um and he will follow and with that we will end today's episode as you guys pick
up the trail and begin making your way towards the werewolf's den uh it's been a while it's
all kind of catching people back up onto combat getting everyone back into character uh yeah
yeah yeah especially you guys a lot of you are playing
classes that you've never played before or with weird special abilities like mushroom druids and
radiant monks and stuff like that monk is tough even if you have played them for a long time
right it's remembering like okay attack extra attack i can use yeah flurry of blows normally without spending a
key point and get one unarmed to strike but if i spend a key point i get two unarmed strikes
but then the radiant monk is like but you can spend a key point to do two energy blasts as well
and then you can do energy blasts as your normal attack it's just like a whole other
mess that comes into play yeah yeah it's a fun class yeah it's a fun class. Yeah, it's a fun class.
Definitely.
I think Kim is our monk expert.
She knows it.
Yeah, I love being a monk.
I prefer it to being a blood hunter
because, my God.
Trying to remind myself
of all my abilities and stuff.
I was like,
oh God, I'm still scrolling.
I'm still stuck here.
You can just slap Matt in the face
and tell him that you hate
the class you made
kim that's fine i will then the next time we meet him i will i will do that i'll do that i'll do
just that mark i'll do it in front of you as well so you know i'll be like mark tell me to do that
i don't know mark agree crazy lady i don't know who she is
crazy lady she laughed like that i won't i'll be very easily convinced
it's just there's a lot going on i think i think matt acknowledges certain problems with it
