Hey folks, Mark here and I wanted to do a little podcast shout out for anyone looking
for more funny D&D adventures. I've been listening to Tales from the Stinky Dragon
recently and wanted to recommend it. It's a show full of humour and heart with five
amazing writers, comedians and voice actors like Gus Cirola from Red vs. Blue
and Barbara Dunkelman from RWBY,
and it's very accessible for folks
even if they aren't D&D experts.
I love their immersive sound design and original score,
which makes the podcast feel very epic and cinematic.
In fact, you might have actually seen
some of their animations and puppet videos
on social media already.
That's right, puppet videos.
I think there's
a lot of similar vibes between High Rollers and Tales from the Stinky Dragon with goofy
hijinks, emotional moments, Chaos Gremlin roleplay, and all the stuff I know you already
love. So why not check out Tales from the Stinky Dragon anywhere you listen to podcasts,
or on youtube.com forward slash at Stinky dragon pod. Cheers. Thanks everybody.
Do you have nerves of steel and a knack for keeping deities pleased?
Well, in that case, you should check out the New York's ghost game, Kaya's prophecy.
It is a card based village builder.
Imagine building a village where one wrong move can trigger a divine outburst from the
gods.
Wouldn't want that.
You have to open booster
packs and use combat to gather resources and then come up with the perfect strategy to
keep your greedy deity fed and your village thriving. You can unlock technologies, battle
wild threats and try not to get struck by lightning.
If you like this kind of thing as I do, you can check out Kaya's Prophecy, available
now on Steam with a 20% launch discount and for a limited time you can get an extra 10% off if you pick it up in a bundle with Dungeons
of the Degenerate Gamblers, our other amazing Yorxcast game.
You can even head on over to our friends at Fanatical to grab your copy today for even
cheaper.

Hello everybody. Welcome to Ulthaya, the Dragon Empire.
After the events in the proto-Majorai vault known as the Prism,
our party returned to the village of Colville,
where they were regarded as heroes
for rescuing several missing locals.
Their journey back,
aided by a couple of Feywield powers
who had decided to reward the party
for destroying the vault.
After concluding a few bits of business and trade in Colvell,
they utilized the runestone of Hearth and Home to teleport back to Ashen's Rest and in doing so,
witnessed some peculiar giant magic for the first time. Returning to Tyria's Rest, the party have
caught up on various events in the town and have begun to think about their next steps.
And that is where we are gonna pick up today.
And as we do, I realize I left a prop in the other room,
so why don't you all say what you are doing right now
in Tyria's Rest as we begin this day,
and I will be back for sure.
I'm murdering Xanthius.
I'm dead.
I too am murdering Xanthius.
I'm dead, I'm dead.
I remember how Julius Caesar was killed. Yeah, yeah. We're all doing that to Xanthius. I'm dead. I too am murdering Xanthius. I'm dead. Remember how Julius Caesar was killed?
Yeah, yeah.
We're all doing that to Xanthius right now.
God damn.
And Daisy's napping.
And you're sleeping through the entire thing.
It's a lot of stabbing.
Yeah, you're joining in?
I'm just gonna eat him.
Okay.
When you're done, I'm just gonna fill up.
It's like a cat.
You're wasting my face.
Yeah.
Just your blood.
Just drink your blood.
Just drink your blood.
I try.
I try, guys.
I try.
I don't know what to tell you.
I'm making it to a skin skin. I don't know what you expected. Gave them this amazing opportunity
for a bit of role play or like.
I didn't get the opportunity.
It was taken from me.
I was gonna be straight up jokin' it.
So.
That's why we're killin' ya.
I believe that the very last thing we left it on
was you guys were in Tyria's rest.
Gruff had been communing with the new spirit,
the nature spirit that has become bound to your sanctuary.
Leo, the hair squire, or Squire Leo if you prefer,
who has become one with your sanctuary
and has now given you a boon, a basic power.
I haven't written it down,
and I know you don't have your iPad
to do D&D Beyond and stuff today,
but I did work out what they do.
So Squire Leo, you don't need to write this down,
we'll cover it, I'll remind you and we can add this.
But basically, you can use Squire Leo,
you can make a move action,
and you jump 20 feet in any direction.
If you immediately attack after that jump,
you do an extra D6 of damage as part of the attack,
kind of represent the dragoon sort of jump down.
You can use that a number of times
equal to your wisdom modifier, prolonged rest.
So it should be four, I think.
So basically four a day.
So that replaces the entire move action then?
It would replace the entire move action.
So it's 20 feet of movement, but you can jump.
So you can go up, you can go up and down, whatever.
And then as long as your next thing
that you do immediately after is the attack,
then you get the extra damage.
Nice, that's cool.
The other thing is once a week,
you can summon Leo as per the Summon Fae spell,
cast at fourth level.
Unlike the normal casting of the spell,
this doesn't require concentration.
So it lasts an hour and he's basically a summon.
And he can fight, he can do stuff,
he can interact with the world,
but it's temporary and then it takes a week,
it takes a heroic, you know, a long rest,
a heroic rest to get back, basically.
So there's that, that's Squire Leo.
We also discovered that a lot of citizens of Ashenrest
have been trying to come by thinking that
this is an open bar slash tavern.
Rather disappointed to learn that it is not.
Theresa, the new acolyte of the Gravefather,
who is indeed a true acolyte now,
able to cast a few divine spells,
has been sort of telling people,
soon, soon, not yet, come back later, but you do have an opportunity
to develop Tyria's Rest into an actual
fully functioning tavern or bar, if you wish.
So that is something to consider.
And I believe one of the last things was
Daisy found amongst your mail a hand-painted postcard,
which depicted the wonderful city of Wave Meat,
which I realized that I had called Wave Crest
when originally talking to Graf.
Yeah, you know the shirt we did
with all the place names on the back?
It's Wave Meat, not Wave Crest.
No, I wrote Meat down.
Good.
Because that means I got it right the first time.
What does it say on the shirt?
Wave Meat.
Okay, good.
Yes, so from...
Yeah, I think it's always been Wave Meat. Okay, good. Yes. So from,
I think it's always been wave meat.
I've got wave meat from the Sandcrest Isles.
Wave at my meat at one point,
and then we were laughed.
And then everyone laughed.
I didn't laugh.
I didn't laugh.
The postcard depicts a beautiful, quite brassy sand.
You know, it almost has like the color of copper
and brass kind of metallic sheen to it.
Beautiful sand, palm trees,
and a lovely sort of picturesque town
built into a set of cliffs on a kind of swooping up hill,
and sat on one of the sort of sun lounger,
drink in hand, very skimpy bikini is a female caliphras
with just the words, wish you were here, love Kay,
written on the back, which was delivered
to the Tyria's rest.
Charming.
Yeah, Charming.
There was also one other thing,
which was when you returned from Ashenrest,
a issue of the Clarion, which is the sort of
imperial newspaper, was published
with certain information on it.
Oh, he's actually made one!
Hell yeah, give me that shit!
So, there you go.
It's just one paper, it might be bleed through.
It's just the cover, I didn't make the full thing.
But...
There was a couple of things you mentioned
alongside the All That Glitters Is Gold sort of article
that was like, I wanted to know more about this.
Yeah.
Well, you can ask me about those,
but that is the now official, like, actual cover.
I'm gonna just put that on the middle of the table there
for the camera as well.
I will also put that up on the Patreon
for free to use for podcast listeners.
Yes.
Or free to view, sorry.
But yeah, so you have that copy,
and you have that copy of that paper
rushed out and bought, delivered for you,
probably provided by Theresa.
No way, they got an exclusive interview
with Lady Starshemma?
Yeah.
Yes, the hot actress, the draconic actress
of the Amethyst Theater doing their tour at the moment.
It's also adverts for Toombs Printing Co.,
as well as WaveMeet there as well.
You got a good place there.
It's almost like everyone wants us to go to WaveMeet.
Well, not everybody.
There's also quite an interesting article
about Kelskaris there.
Kelskaris is under attack.
Stinky.
Kelskaris under attack is pretty, yeah, okay.
So do we want to go somewhere under attack
or do we want to go beach?
Well, the article says, if you read the article,
the article about Kelskaris, in fact, actually,
why doesn't Xantheus read it out for us?
If he can.
If he can read my shitty handwriting.
I'm just too busy looking at this picture of myself.
They've done a really good job.
I'm a little bit concerned how good of a job they've done.
You know?
Anyone else think that?
Right, so you're reading out the article or not?
Could've asked nicely.
Well, it says,
Kelskaris under attack.
Shocking news from the capital is rogue agents of an unidentified source
attempted to assassinate several draconic nobles.
And representatives of the foreign theocracy of Osseus
at a diplomatic gala held at the Ossean embassy.
Uh-oh.
What?
Yikes.
What?
Can I see that?
I'll keep going.
The attack was stopped, thanks to the actions of the local guards,
and a number of heroic citizens who fought the terrorists
and healed Duchess...
Emerald Vyker.
Emerald Vyker?
Emerald Vyker.
Okay, Emerald Vyker, it's just the K and the Y.
There's a misprinting on this one.
At Mistwald, Captain Fear of Mist River District
gave us the official story on page two.
Yeah, if you read the full story,
there is not a page two.
Mark only had enough time to get the front cover
because it's all hand done.
But no, the official reading through the story,
especially as Ophelia shows great concern,
it appears that, yeah, some rogue agent
of an unconfirmed source, nobody has made claim,
although the Clarion speculates
that it may be an anti-dragon movement.
Stop!
That's what they speculate.
That this agent, they attempted to detonate
some sort of magical explosive at the embassy.
In the process, Duchess Emeraldvika was injured,
but was brought back by some sort of healer.
Although no names are mentioned
for these heroic individuals.
It seems that the clarion was not able to confirm
the identity of the heroic individuals.
I know why.
It's really hard to come up with a group name.
It is, yeah.
But the attack was resolved.
They also say in the article that another attack
by the same group had been conducted
in a marketplace in Kelskaris,
and they believed it to all be part of the same group had been conducted in a marketplace in Kelskaris, and they believed it to all be part
of the same movement that intended to initiate conflict
between Osseus and Kelskaris, and cause dissent
among the citizens of the empire.
Ah, spooky.
Yes. Real spooky.
And that's like fresh, hot off the presses,
probably happened whilst you guys were travelling. There's like And that's like fresh, hot off the presses,
probably happened whilst you guys were traveling.
There's like someone outside trying to shift these papers
as well, yelling about this story.
X-Tree, X-Tree!
Assassins and Cal Scores!
Osseous to blame?
Yeah.
Who's to say?
Yeah, well Osseous was also the victims of this.
Trying to take them out as well, yeah.
Yeah.
But yeah, that's kind of like the big headline story
of the paper.
Okay.
Why are they trying to attack people
at the Ossian embassy?
What?
It seems like they're going for important people in general,
but it is odd that they go to the Osseous place.
Well, it says now that they believe
that this group tried to instigate war
or instigate conflict between Osseous and the Empire, yeah.
Tried to damage relations.
Oh, praise the great father, it was stopped in time.
Hopefully nothing too bad came of it.
Yeah, and then at the very bottom corner
there is a little article about a stunning,
gold dragonborn making waves.
Oh, here we go, here we go.
Stylish dragonborn stunts Caldra
in St. Typhines Day Festival.
This is the one we're waiting for.
Zanthius Oragon, full name printed, that's awful.
Horrible, actually.
A gold dragonborn of Ashenrest wowed the crowds
at a fashion contest during the celebrations
on St. Typhine's Day in the province of Caldre,
sparking a new fashion trend.
Read more on page nine, I will.
The article goes in to describe the outfit
with sketches in detail,
speaking of the effortless way this,
rather, I think they would call it sort of country chic
dragonborn wowed the crowds,
and how it's spreading through cauldra like wildfire
and that kind of jazz.
Probably with the little tagline of like,
all that glitters is gold.
You know, follow it.
Xanthias, you're famous now.
I think I might be.
It is like, the sketch of the outfit
is very good rendition of Zanthias' hair and everything.
It is not a photograph, obviously,
but it's a very good drawing of Zanthias.
Although I will say, everybody's already behind the times
on that, though, aren't they?
I mean, how many shirts have you already gone through
since that was taken?
Very true.
It's okay, I can fix this one just fine now. You can fix them?
Yeah.
As long as they're not...
Ritz.
Well, as long as they don't, yeah,
not burn to cinders or, you know...
Or...
I'm trying my best.
But yeah, you can keep that.
That's a nice little memento for you.
Oh, you know what we should do?
Go to the printing press and see if they've got,
if they can scale up that image of you.
Yeah, why?
So we can have it in the tavern.
Tyre's Rest.
We could do.
Well, I mean, Daisy, you were gonna paint all of us,
weren't you, at some point?
Yeah, group.
Group painting.
I'm not doing one just of you, Zan.
No, I'm saying, yeah, get everyone.
Get one of everybody, yeah.
I have the Pentecost Supplies.
We don't need a big, huge Xantheus on the wall.
You're right, you're right.
Well, you could go and ask if you want one.
But I'm already painting, I've already started it.
Well, you would probably need to go to the headquarters
of the Clarion, like the local branch
won't have that specific drawing. It probably would have gone to the headquarters of the Clarion, like the local branch won't have that specific drawing, it probably would have gone
to the headquarters and they would have done all the main,
the editing and the copy, you know,
then it gets sent out to the printing press.
One of it's all like stamps, you know,
where they like arrange the metal pieces.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
It's like an old, printing press is fairly new
in the Empire, it's like a new technology,
so like this is, yeah, like it's like wood prints
that they carve and then they stamp it
and stuff like that.
There's a little wood print of you somewhere.
Four silver coins for this, that's outrageous.
It's a pretty substantial paper,
like obviously that's only the cover,
but this is like old school, big, big broad sheet,
you know, like quite a few pages in it.
Lots of adverts for like local services
all across the Empire as well.
So when they took away the free goodie bag.
They were always my favourite bit.
That was a different... I think that might have just been an Ossius.
That's an Ossius thing, yeah.
Oh yeah, that was an Ossius thing.
What did you get?
Like sweets normally or like little ribbons and things you can put in your hair.
Bones.
Gummy vampire teeth.
Little teeth, yeah, little gummy teeth.
That is way more interesting than just loads of words.
Yeah.
It was interesting.
All we got was facts.
It would encourage creativity.
Imagination.
Okay.
This is just terrifying.
Because I think Daisy and Rowan and a few others have been there,
there's like an advert for Toombs printing company on there as well,
with their slogan of, think books, think Toom's.
That's their little sort of stamp.
I've never really got on board with that.
Yeah?
I mean, it's probably more of a feeler thing, right?
Well, thinking about Toom's, yes.
Thinking about Toom's.
It's a very Ossian tradition, yes.
Yeah.
I still need to go to them with stories.
I mean, we've got quite a few now.
That's what I feel like.
You say I'm famous, I think we're all famous as, you know, heroes of Ash and Rest,
now Vault Breakers, or what was it they called us?
Oh, it's Vault.
Vault Smashers, Vault Breakers.
Vault Breakers.
So we're making a name for us.
That one's pretty good, I do like that one.
Oh, but we do need to, we need a better closed sign
on this place the next time we head off.
It's either that, or.
Or. Or.
Or.
You're thinking what I'm thinking.
I'm thinking straight, I'm talking it.
Me too.
No.
We open.
We don't need a clothes sign if we just open.
It doesn't mean we need stuff.
We need stuff.
We need stuff.
We do that.
Yep.
To sell.
We could easily find someone to work in this place, right?
We don't have stuff.
What if, right?
Okay, I mean we can ask around
how we source these sorts of things.
Sure.
But we could create a trade route with Rodri.
Okay, so this is also a trading post.
No, no, I mean get stock.
From, oh I see what you mean.
We hire someone to use Rodri to, to go get the kegs.
Yeah. And whatnot.
We could do.
And he'd be so cute on the rows, all the kegs.
So we're not sourcing stuff from Ashen's Rest,
we're sourcing from across the entire.
Yeah, well, I'm sure.
I don't know how this works,
but maybe there's some local stuff
where we don't have to go outside of Ashen's Rest,
but we should get some specials in now and again.
It's true. It would bring more people in.
So some luxuries from across the...
And when we go on our adventures,
because it seems like we might be moving at some point.
Oh, yes, we do need to discuss that, but...
We could always bring something back.
Like a few bottles from this place or that place.
I mean, it seems like there's quite a following of people
trying to see this place simply because we are here.
We reside in it.
So if we also treat this like a museum for our adventures,
relics that we've acquired, the gauntlet, a painting.
I don't think we should put the skull on display.
Oh no, I've got a plan for the skull, don't worry.
I feel like the trophies of our adventures
is just a lot of trauma.
How about- You can't display that.
A painting would be nice though.
I can do a painting.
Yeah, of the skull, or at least a depiction.
But real quick though, let's just dig a little bit deeper
into you have a plan for the skull.
Yes.
What does that mean?
I think Frieda deserves a chance to make a choice
of her own, much like Tyria.
Uh oh.
I don't.
I don't like the sound of that right now.
How much is this gonna cost me?
I don't know, I need to talk to the Grey Father first
and see what he thinks.
Now forgive me if this goes against the Ossian teachings,
but is there, I mean, I don't wanna be rude at all,
but is there still a spirit within the bones?
There's always a spirit attached to bones, to a body, to...
A life. To a life.
Okay.
If you need to talk to the Grey Father...
Yeah. Figure out what to do with that.
That makes sense.
Well, that's why we came back.
There's another reason why we came back.
Because you had closer communication
with the Grey Father here, right?
Yes, exactly.
Percival has been invaluable to us.
Extremely. On our adventures as well. Extremely.
I will formulate a plan to bring him back.
I just need to find the right vessel for Percival.
And you'll need some gold.
And some gold.
I have some things in place, potentially.
I mean, I have these bars of lightning metal.
They might provide a resource of income.
You do have a lot of rewards and resources.
That's true, we do have a lot of things to get through.
I also, I think I know what's going to happen
for the next five years,
because I spent the night.
Five years?
Prophecising.
Oh, I heard a lot of jingling downstairs,
I wonder what's going on. How much did you put in?
Rowan, you do know that-
I only had a few,
but I was asking on a monthly basis this time.
I see.
Really scouting ahead.
Monthly, and you have five years.
Yeah, how many months are in a year?
Three?
It's more than three.
Is it more than, is it 12?
I will bring up the calendar.
Cause I can't remember if it's on my head.
Hopefully low.
I believe it's the same amount of dragons.
I think it's seven.
One, two, three.
Look, maybe I got one yet.
Five, six, seven.
Okay, well.
Seven, okay.
There are seven, if you want to call them months.
The way I see it.
And I'm getting pretty good.
Don't want to toot one's own horn here,
but I think I understand the prophecies quite well.
At deciphering them?
Yes. Okay, yeah, okay.
Inferring.
Sure.
I think everything's gonna work out just great.
Well that's relieving to hear.
For everyone or?
Yep.
Yep.
I'm glad to hear it Ron, it's good to know you have such hope.
I do.
Sounds like there was a note of doubt in that.
It was more than a note. It was definite doubt.
It's a continual learning experience with the toad.
You never truly know what each word truly means.
Right, what was your last prophecy then?
I'm just handing this over to you.
I'm, I'm, yeah.
Think of your own.
Think of your own stupid frog prophecy.
It was, the great drink swallows under the mountain twice.
That was a good toad prophecy.
The great drink swallows under the mountain twice.
That was a big gap.
The great drink swallows?
The great drink swallows under the mountain twice.
And that gives you hope.
The way I see it.
And that's after hope. The way I see it.
And that's after six other ones.
Okay.
What were those?
I'm not gonna fucking.
Oh, I'm so sorry Trice.
I'd quite like to sit there all day on that one.
Is it quite hard to come up with stupid tone prophecies?
Oh, yes it is actually.
Oh good, it's me.
That's really difficult for me to ask me. I never would have guessed that.
Like, that's weird.
I'm gonna say no.
I'm sorry I'm a problem, Chris Chalk.
I'm sorry that you cannot fulfill role-playing requirements at the table.
The first one was...
Do you have any bronze coins left?
No, I used them all.
I was gonna say we should get another one, just now.
That lovely lady has one.
What? That gave lady has one.
What?
That gave me these coins.
Yeah, she's traveling.
You made her key point, yeah, Valesa.
So she'll be around.
Sister Valesa.
She's still traveling. Eventually.
But if we start getting change from our tavern.
We haven't got anything to sell.
That's going to go back into the tavern.
We need to speak to someone of how to set up a tavern.
You absolutely can.
There is a sort of merchant's guild
that help businesses here in Ashen's Rest.
I mean, even somebody like Consider Algrim
up at the Duke's Palace would be able to help you
with that as well, like let you know
what kind of resources you might need.
If you want, I could just tell you.
Like, it wouldn't be hard for you to find out that information of what you might need. If you want, I could just tell you. Like, it wouldn't be hard for you
to find out that information of what you would need.
How much do we actually have as a group?
As in money-wise?
Yeah, because I don't think we use
all of the dragon, the dukes' funding.
I have nothing.
Everything's been loaned to me.
We're aware.
We're aware.
I'm everywhere.
You have things but no coin.
Yes. You're not very liquid. No,. You have things but no coin. Yes.
You're not very liquid.
No, you're the opposite.
Observe.
Solid.
You're solid right now.
You have no liquid assets.
You do have like diamond and stuff like that.
Oh yeah, like metal.
Maybe.
Herbs.
We should prioritize things.
Percival is invaluable.
Yes.
Percival number one on the list. We should get Percival sorted.
While we're here.
That is, yeah.
That's a thing that can happen, right?
So what would it take to find the, as you said, perfect vessel?
Are we talking about like a vase or a chest or some kind of container?
I guess a body would be a container, yes.
A body? A skeleton, container, yes. A body.
A skeleton, preferably, yes.
The fleshy stuff, it's hard to up count.
I'm having a horrible case of deja vu
where we've had this conversation
about where she could possibly get bones from.
Yeah, I mean, you did say-
I don't wanna have this conversation again.
It's not just any skeleton, like you said.
Not some ruffian, you know, it's got-
A ruffian. No, no.
It has to be, like a- Not some ruffian, you know, it's got, no, no. Like a, not.
Somebody of Percival's stature.
But we don't know what that is.
What level is that?
Well, he had a little smirk to him.
Yes, exactly.
You can tell, you can tell.
You can tell.
You can tell.
You can tell.
He loved to dance, he did love to dance.
Very tall.
You know what? Extraordinarily capable dance. Very tall. You know what?
Extraordinarily capable fighter.
Very capable.
Always managed to, he was really the best of us.
He always managed to get just right in through the armor.
Great posture.
Amazing posture.
Great posture.
Posture, yes.
Looming, a good looming energy.
Good presence.
Good presence, yes.
Aura.
Looks good under a cape. How do you know if the bones of a person,
if you don't know that person
and you're looking for a skeleton,
how do you know what that skeleton was like
when they were alive?
I'll ask the Grey Father.
I'm sure he can give me some insight.
Is this going to be a case of we just present
a pile of bodies to the Grey Father and he selects them or will the Grey Father know where to search?
I can ask for his guidance and he'll provide me
hopefully the wisdom to pick a suitable vessel.
Okay, yes?
Just one question.
Uh-huh.
Where are you getting the pile of bodies?
Oh, are they graveyard?
Well, I heard that cremation is quite popular in Ilmera.
So, I'll have to see if there's any burials nearby.
There are, but it's just, they're not as,
like, it's generally, cremation is much more common.
Generally the people that are buried are people of prominence
or people of wealth or people who have a reason
to be remembered and have like a grave and a tomb
and things like that.
You know, famous knights, famous people, that kind of stuff.
Deep personal attachments.
Yeah, when there's graves involved,
people generally don't like you to dig them up.
Have to make an agreement with.
Such a weird land, Ophelia.
So weird.
Just wanna let you know before you know
you start to do that and then someone comes over and tries.
But they're not being used for anything.
It's just silly.
I mean, and then you burn them.
Don't even get me started on the cremation thing.
It's, oh my.
Well, it's just, it might be a bit more difficult
to find a skeleton here than it would be in Osseus,
but we should maybe see what,
I don't know who to ask about that, you know?
Is there, not to be judgmental with the Grey Father,
is there a slim chance that he might suggest
that the perfect vessel is currently in use
by a living person?
That's horrifying.
So Ildrak would be a good vessel.
It's a shame he's still alive.
Yeah.
He's very torn.
Such a strange way of thinking about it.
That was an auspicing.
Sorry to disappoint.
Yes.
Whilst you'll ruminate on that lovely thing, we do need to roll for fate, just in case.
You need one to make a new roll, or I want to spend any fate for obvious weird things.
Get in. Back of the net. Football.
Football. Football.
What have we got, Tom? I got a six.
Oh, a lovely dice for you.
Oh my god.
Dos.
That side.
Dice for me.
Two. Dice for me. Two.
Dice for me.
Yeah, add another red.
Oh, get in the reds.
Red.
Another red.
Another one for me.
Woo hoo.
Oh.
Woo hoo.
What is that cost?
Great.
Hey guys, you're welcome.
For the one good fate we have today.
I've got a question.
Maybe I'll find a reason that's been mine.
Ophelia.
Yes?
Don't know.
Right.
So, Frieda.
Yes.
You're going to speak with the Grey Father.
We're going to be very busy, me and him, I think.
So that you can find out.
We're going to be very busy, me and him.
Frieda's still potentially attached to the bones.
Yes.
And so you can ask them what they want.
Yes.
When you find a new body skeleton,
they also have a spirit that you then have to be like,
sorry, we're putting Percy's one in this one.
Well, Percy's in the heart.
Yes.
So is he gonna share the spirit with the skeleton?
While that skeleton is mobile and moving,
yes, it will become Percy.
That will be Percy.
It gets rid of the...
No, the other spirit would still be in there,
but Percy would be operating the vessel.
That does sound very nice.
Wait, so Percival, when he was walking around,
as he was, there was also another,
the previous inhabitant of the-
There was always an essence attached to bones and life,
yes.
Okay.
Oh no.
Okay.
For some it's rather complicated to me.
Yeah.
Yeah, I mean, don't get me wrong, Percival deserves it.
He does, he really is the best of us. He really is the best of us. Is he gonna be different? Yeah, I mean, don't get me wrong, Percival deserves it.
He does, he really is the best of us.
Is he gonna be different?
No, his soul will still be retained inside,
so that's Percy, Percy is Percy.
That's what the heart does, it retains Percival.
What if the skeleton essence influences it?
Well, the more the merrier, I say.
Oh. That would be very interesting.
Oh, that was oddly much more positive of an answer then.
Yeah, okay.
Of course I would miss Percy, but.
I mean, you've got a voice in your head.
You've got another personality that's helping you out.
You are a vessel, also.
But they didn't take my skeleton and.
But you share a brain, right?
Yes, but they have no control over me.
Well, to an extent.
Sounds like Percy has all the control over the new body.
Yeah, that's quite scary.
Totally fine.
And the previous resident is then in...
Yes, I suppose in a way.
That's a way to think about it, right?
It kind of makes, anyway.
Are we not all vessels for some greater purpose
or another according to our own beliefs and what not?
Hopefully not.
We just need to get past the...
For me personally, hopefully not.
We'll see.
Okay, well, I mean, it's pretty funny.
Zanthius, Zanthius, Zanthius, yeah.
I feel like, yeah, Gruff and Daisy have a very different reaction to what Zanthius just said.
I still don't know what that is.
No, I know you don't.
Gruff was smoking his pipe in the corner and it just like very...
Just one big...
I feel like you all...
I mean, you all...
What was it?
You come back, right?
When you pass away and then you return, but you live another life
but with the same body, right?
Is that-
No, unless they ascend.
When you ascend?
Not always.
Not always?
Well, yes, that's the teachings that we are taught,
but there are other thoughts and feelings,
like giants, I want to come back as a rock.
That's so fitting.
But what if, see, if Rowan wanted to come back as a rock,
but instead then becomes Percival's vessel,
would you want to be? That would be...
Can a rock be a skeleton?
It could be a skeleton made of rock.
That's pretty cool. Isn't that cool?
I would love to be a rock skeleton.
Rock skeleton!
He said that pretty cool.
That's pretty cool. That's pretty cool.
That's pretty cool.
Um, okay, well, it's a mineral.
We'll let you discuss with the Grey Father, of course,
like you intend to do either way,
and then we can figure out how to procure the perfect bones.
Preferably without harming.
Preferably if the vessel is not currently walking around.
Of course, yes, yes.
Willing.
It's a shame that they don't do that.
It's horrible.
Absolutely horrendous, I'd say.
If the person was walking around and willing,
would you be able to put the heart into them
and then Percival's not a skeleton, he's an actual person?
That's one of the most horrific things you've ever said.
That's way worse than everything else we've ever talked about.
What do you do if the vessel is alive?
I think we say no.
You can't do it, right?
We wait.
I will not do this.
Ophelia, you would be fairly certain
that heart will only work with a dead body.
It will not, because the Great Father has power
over the dead, not over the living.
What if the body's kind of still there,
though, and it's all gross? See, that would be a House of Rot situation. The Great Father has power over the dead, not over the living. What if the body's kind of still there though
and it's all gross?
See, that'd be a House of Rot situation.
Technically possible, but gross.
Yeah, don't want that.
I don't want to deal with the flesh.
It smells after all.
It's just the bones anyway that we're looking for,
so that's okay.
Nice and polished.
Yeah, I know when Frieda's flesh came off the head.
I don't want to deal with that again, you see.
That's a House of Rot problem.
Yeah.
Do they clean up the bones for you?
Is there like a process?
They can do.
They take all the rot, you get the bones?
Yeah, they can do sometimes.
So the trade between the houses,
like the House of Bone, the House of Rot.
House of Bone generally look after
any kind of skeletal creatures,
but the House of Rot deal with
zombies and ghouls and things like that.
I'm all ears to help you with getting Percival back,
but just in a way where everyone's given permission.
Of course, yeah, so of course it's how we operate.
I would never steal a body.
No, you're very considerate.
But I'm just warning you that our ways
are slightly different with the grace.
Yeah, I know, I know, but I'm sure we'll find something.
Yeah.
Rock skeleton, though.
Leaving Rowan with his rock skeleton thoughts.
What are folks wanting to do?
Do you want any information about things?
You do have a lot of, like, I would recommend that you,
because you did use your heroic rest, I believe.
I would recommend you have at least some downtime
whilst you are back in Ashen's Rest,
at least a minimum of a week,
which means you will get to do a downtime activity.
Hell yeah.
There's a ball happening!
What? There's a ball happening! What?
There's a ball, there's a dance happening!
Terese was telling me that there is a,
there's a big ball happening.
It's dance classes.
Dance classes, yes, sorry.
I got really excited.
Dance classes.
Oh. That sounds wonderful.
Yeah, and I remember dancing with you
in that flying vault, and you need them.
You would need them.
You would need them! I don't think I was a problem. I think you were. You would. You would need him. You weren't trying to lead.
I don't think I was a problem.
I think you were.
You would not let me lead you.
You were trying to lead.
I was trying to.
I will not be led.
I can tell.
You really won't.
Terrible dance partner.
No.
Maybe.
It sounds like you both need other partners
or to get on board with.
I know who I'm taking.
Who?
Lana Vittante. Oh my god. You're speaking again? Well, she hit the flowers, didn't she, or to get on board with... I know who I'm taking. Who?
Lana Fadante.
Oh my god.
You're speaking again?
Well she kept the flowers, didn't she, before we left?
And she left a message.
You should probably try speaking to...
Yeah, have you asked her?
No.
Have you invited her?
No.
Have you informed her there's a dance lesson?
No.
Have you said one word to her since?
No.
Yeah.
Is this the first time you've thought about her
since you got back?
No.
I don't know what it's like in Osteos,
but you kind of have to speak to her and invite her.
A lady won't know to go to her dance
unless you actually tell her.
But the Grey Father, though, I need to appease.
That can, Grey Father by night, Vedante by day.
I know, but I've labored, I've done so much labor lately
and I need to atone, I need to commune,
I need to speak with him first.
But would dancing not be doing good things
because that's leisurely?
It would also be good.
So, oh.
Truly.
So you're saying you've got a clash, it's both tonight?
I mean, I don't know, is it tonight? I can't remember, is it tonight?
What is time?
Just do not talk about her again.
You have time to organize things on different days.
If you want to go dance lessons,
there is still more than enough time
for you to come in with the Great Father.
You remember you can do that once a kind of week,
and again, if you guys want to take more downtime,
you absolutely can, you can take more than one week.
But there are things, there are options like Xan,
you have your arcane workplace.
I want to do some work with the workbench.
I also want to, like you were saying,
go to the Merchant's Guild,
try to drum up some interest
in getting this up and running.
Well, would you like me to give you
some sort of factual mechanics on that?
Yeah.
All right, so, to turn Tyreah's Rest
into a profit-making business,
and that's something that can function
even when you are not there.
A PFB, a PMB, profit-making business.
Where'd the S come from?
Profit, maybe, a PMB.
You have two choices.
Right now, you don't have enough rooms
because you're using the upstairs rooms
as your own personal rooms.
The authentic, yeah, true.
Because you have the upstairs rooms for yourselves,
you can't make it like an inn where you stay, right?
You can make it a bar, which is just drinks,
or you can do a tavern, so it's bar, food,
and drink, basically.
To make it a basic bar, you require
at least one alcohol supplier,
one manager, and a service worker, right?
Bring me one alcohol, please.
Yes, to make it a tavern requires multiple alcohol
suppliers, a manager, two to three service,
a chef, and a food supplier.
Oh boy.
So it's like quite a lot of involvement kind of things,
right, but the profit massively goes up for a tavern.
Food and drink combined, much better than just a bar.
You'd have that upfront cost.
Yes.
Yeah.
The thing with the business is it's gonna also be,
if you improve the quality of the business,
that will basically have a profit multiplier
if you hit tiers of quality.
Four tiers of quality.
You unlock those tiers of quality
by basically improving your quality score,
and I'll let you know when you go up a tier, basically.
Your quality score depends on the kind of staff you hire,
the kind of alcohol and food that you get from a supplier,
and then also there will be random events
that I will roll once a month
that may also influence your score.
They can be good, they can be bad, they can be neutral.
There are also special types of staff,
like performers who can do benefits to let you in,
or bouncers who can help negate
if you get a negative event and stuff like that as well.
So there's lots of options, obviously it's quite complicated.
Staff have wages that you have to pay.
Yes, they have wages,
but they also have different proficiency levels.
So you have like unskilled, skilled, expert and master.
Their wages go up as you go.
I'm sorry, the adventuring life is over.
It's now time to have a sim.
It's business sim.
Have a manager. I'm listening to this entire thing like Antonio Bandaire is doing the... Sorry, the adventuring life is over. It's now, it's now, it's having sim. It's business sim. It's business sim.
It's having manager.
I'm listening to this entire thing
like Antonia Bandaire is doing the...
Pfft.
Pfft.
Pfft.
Um, with regards to, if we started out simple,
you just had a bar, alcohol spot, you can go,
like the, I believe the leader of the merchants guild
here in Ashen's Rest is called Patience Something.
I can't remember.
I will look it up.
Patience a lot of time.
No, they are a tiefling, they're a tifling, sorry.
Called Patience.
Just ignoring that.
I'm just, yeah.
Oh, oh yeah.
I've learned to just ignore him when I need to.
He's gone. Oh, you spicey little brain. I when I need to. He's gone.
Oh, you spicey little brain.
I wish I saved it for my next character.
Yeah.
Oh, I mean.
I just spat it out for a bad joke.
I could murder you right now.
You could.
I will find that momentarily.
But basically, they would tell you that you can arrange for,
like, a bog standard,
the local Alcos supplier, the kind of places
that the Grumpy Hog and those places secure their boots from.
Will.
It's fine, but it's nothing special.
It won't improve the quality score.
You broke it.
Other suppliers you will need to research
or follow up on rumors.
They may involve a little quest, a little cheeky quest.
Same with skilled staff.
You might need to convince them to come and work with you.
Really skilled staff might not come and work with you
until you hit certain quality tiers,
because they're not gonna work for a dumb.
You need a food safety rating.
Basically.
I just got this idea of us going up
to some grizzled old bar manager and being like,
I need you to come out of retirement for one last job.
Literally that, right?
If you can find the legendary bar manager
and recruit them, that's a whole thing.
I can't do it, I've pulled too many pints.
Yeah.
To track those down, to track down specialist staff
or rare alcohol suppliers or food suppliers,
you will need to take research.
You need to take a downtime research action, basically.
And to learn, oh, what rumors can we pick up on
and stuff like that.
Normal, I'd say unskilled and skilled staff,
you can just go out and recruit.
You can put a wanted bar staff on the notice board and I will randomly generate
a number of applicants that will come to you.
Can we have the interview process?
Yeah, absolutely.
Yes!
Absolutely.
We skip to that now.
Yes.
Yeah, I mean, do you want to just like start interviewing
for some basic staff?
Yeah, so are we doing a full-
Well, how much money do we need to actually like
keep this going? I won't tell you what their wages are until you interview. so are we doing a full... Well, how much money do we need to actually, like, keep this going?
I won't tell you what their wages are until you...
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
But are we doing a full...
But for the staff kind of thing.
Are we just starting the bar?
Well, so that's the thing.
So if you want to just get the bog standard,
like alcohol supply or food supply,
there's a flat rate, you pay a licensing fee,
and that lasts you for, I will probably say, a year.
Cool.
And you get that and then they just supply you, right? It'll probably be quite a lot. But that supplies you for, I will probably say, a year. And you get that and then they just supply you, right?
It'll probably be quite a lot.
But that supplies you for a year.
The rare suppliers, if they're in danger
and you help them out, they may just become
your supplier for free and then they'll take
like a percentage of the profits and stuff like that.
Or they might offer you a discounted price,
something like that, depending on what their problem is
or if they need to be recruited or whatever.
But it is like a whole thing.
I will tell you that the basic income,
if you just get this at the absolute basic level,
no quality improvements just yet,
for a bar, it earns you about 200 gold a month,
or 50 gold a week, depending on how long when you come back.
If you get a tavern, so that's with all the food
and all the extra alcohol and all the extra staff,
it's 200 gold a week or 800 gold a month.
Because remember, like, in, but remember, in Ulfeia.
And that's the basic?
But that's, prices are a lot more expensive.
Stuff like armor and things like that go up,
and like wages go up.
We're not using the standard BHB prices for stuff.
Yeah, you gotta pay for it all.
Stop it.
Put more money in there, the wages.
Yeah.
Spend money, make money.
Spend money to make money.
Spend money to make money.
Have we got it though, what's our money?
Yeah, what we doing?
What's our money?
Got it.
What's our money sit?
Um.
Probably not great.
Yeah.
I mean, I think you guys are all right.
We've got money, but also,
not to sort of backseat game you guys,
don't forget it is well worth you investing
in equipment upgrades, armor, weapons, and stuff like that,
because unless it's in vaults or unless it's really special,
you're probably not gonna find
a lot of rare equipment out there,
apart from really nice stuff.
You guys have just got a load of stuff in the vaults,
maybe some of it's useful to you, maybe it's not.
But things like getting Gruff good armor, right?
That's gonna cost you some money.
Rowan got that nice chainmail, that was a nice reward,
but for Ophelia, I suppose you've got your armor now.
But Gruff might want armor,
you might want to get new weapons.
It's also all of these spell stones cost money
like every time we have to transcribe them.
Each person that learns it,
it's gonna cost you quite a lot of gold.
Yeah.
It's 100 gold per spell level, so.
Yeah, yeah, I think we...
And also, the ritual to bring Percy back is expensive.
It's 500 gold each time you need to.
Oh, so it's basically one and a diamond.
Yes. Which we have two of, so that's unit. So it's basically one and a diamond. Yes.
Which we have two of, so that's fine.
Okay.
What are we thinking, bar or tavern?
Well, you can also start off as bar and then upgrade to tavern.
Yeah.
I'm thinking we've got Percival and Gruffwant's Armour.
Yeah.
Let's sort ourselves out first
and then sort the tavern out. Light horror. Yeah. Let's sort ourselves out first and then sort the tavern out.
I like tar.
Okay.
What have we got in the bank at the moment?
Danny, rough.
I've got just under 2,000 gold.
That's not including any items that you sell
or that's just raw money, right?
Yeah.
Like, yeah.
Raw!
I have 400 from whatever we split that.
Okay. Reward. I'm willing of 340. Yeah. I have 400 from whatever we split that reward.
I'm willing of 340.
Yeah.
I'm willing to patent my headlamp.
Really?
Sell the rights if we need this tavern.
Sell the rights completely?
I'm sure I saw similar in some of those miners
in that mine that we came across.
Yeah, I think they already in the hands of it.
What?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Well, it looks like the next arc is a big court case
between Rowan and the miners.
Get your picture.
In fact, you know when we very first met
and we went to that very first mine
with the big monsters and stuff like that?
Yeah.
I'm sure I saw a couple of those elements down there.
I did think at the time,
is that where you got the idea from?
No.
No, it couldn't be.
I had, I'm...
Like you seen it there and then, you know,
it was just in the back of your mind.
Rowan, this idea of yours is yours alone
and I think you should be very proud of it
and that if I see anyone else wearing something like that,
well, I would be so disheartened.
Well, thank you for one.
I personally don't think you would see it so unique.
If you were to sell your idea is what I'm saying.
Okay.
I think that Rowan's looks a bit different
from the other ones.
There's no other ones.
Beautiful idea, Rowan, thank you for your assistance
in the- It's just the offers on the table.
The offers on the table.
Another thing to consider is that we do have the draw
of the clever toad, which admittedly is stealing
all of the money that goes into it.
I don't think-
Yeah, we're not making any money out of us.
No, but-
Now that was a loss.
The customer, we have a strong customer base,
is I think the term that people would use.
Well, maybe if Rowan, maybe, maybe, oh, idea.
Maybe you could write a song about the clever toad
and perform it in a tavern.
And then maybe you can make the legend of the clever toad
profitable in some way. How are you getting on
with that rock song? Bring people in.
Yeah, I'm really struggling with the rock song.
Oh really? Maybe the toad is the way to go.
Maybe I should divert to a different song.
A song about the tavern.
Has anyone got a bronze coin?
I need to ask the toad about this.
I don't, no, I'm torching, no, sorry.
No, I don't.
So what, sorry, are we definitely doing
this tavern bar idea then?
I thought we were saying that we...
One of the two.
Depending on how much money we can get together
with selling some bits, I've got this wand of the sculptor,
which is really powerful.
Yeah, no, that's extraordinarily powerful
and probably worth quite a lot.
I would suggest keeping more of it.
Sounds very useful in our adventures.
Extraordinary use, yes.
But we've also, I mean, we found diamonds,
we found those metal bars in the vault.
There's a lot of stuff to get rid of.
The diamonds I really want to keep in old love.
Diamond for you, a diamond for Percival.
That's those two jobs covered straight away.
What would you like the diamonds for?
Well, so I've learned this new spell
where if one of you, you know, dies.
Oh.
I can resurrect you, but I need a diamond to do it.
That sounds very important.
That's very useful, Liz.
Oh, yes, well, we got two of them.
Well, one's for Percival.
One to bring back Percival,
one for future never-going-to-happen occurrences.
It's never happened.
I will also, not again, just to remind you, two things.
One, it's worth doing some research
to see if you can find any rare supplies and stuff.
Before you worry about spending money,
you might be able to get it for free.
But also, things like those metal bars,
the Stormsteel and things like that,
you might be able to turn into armor or something like that.
You can have a custom piece made,
or Xanthias may even be able to turn into armor or shield or something like that. You can have a custom piece made, or Xanthius may even be able to turn it into something.
Yeah, I mean I wanna take all the stuff
to see what's worth using and see what's not.
Sell what's not, use what's is.
Well with your current level of sort of skill, Tom,
you can, Xanthius, or Tom, talk to the player.
No, I have zero levels of skill.
With your arcane laboratory or your arcane workshop,
you can take, I think, I believe,
you can't use the Lux and Shards,
that requires specialist knowledge to work those.
The Freit Gauntlet that you picked up
is a powerful arcane fire essence.
You can turn that into basically,
you can add a fiery effect to say a weapon,
so you can make like a flaming weapon or something like that.
You could use that.
It would consume the Afree Gauntlet, right?
You could use it to give like a resistance,
like a kind of to metal armor or something like,
fire resistance or something like that.
Or any other object, like if you can think of a cool magic,
I'm like, I want something that lets me do any other object, like if you can think of a cool magic item, like I want something
that lets me do a cool fire base thing,
we can figure something out.
The other option I would say is you can also turn it
into a powerful wand that will use fire based spells.
So you can turn into that.
The Stormsteel, now again, you would not be able
to make the item itself,
so like if you want a flaming sword,
you need to go get a sword and then have that brought to you.
Could it just be like any?
It could be if you want a piece of shit sword,
you can be it.
No, in fact I'm gonna wreck on that.
It has to be a masterwork sword,
so it has to be like a really well made sword
to apply that to.
Same with armor or shields,
you would need to have them provided to you.
You can't make that, you're not a smith or anything.
I have a Masterwork hook staff,
so if it was refused with the even more.
You could do that, totally.
Oh yeah.
You could totally do that.
Okay.
The Stormsteel, that is, I would say,
you can only make, it's not an essence,
but I would let you make one thing with it.
I would let you make a lightning staff,
so it would be like a, kind of like,
not a quarter staff, it would be like a kind of like, not a quarter staff,
it would be like a wizards, and it would let you cast
some lightning spells out of it.
Alternatively, you know that a talented smith,
like Ilana Vidante, could probably turn that
into a powerful suit of armor, a weapon, or a shield.
Because the magic lightning is already built into the metal,
so you don't have to do any artifice with it, basically.
See, okay.
Lightning armor for Gruff would be so nice.
There's also some of the, wait, are they called relic?
Sorry, my A-Low is showing.
Yes, that is a relic, yes.
Like, is there research I could do into those as well
in order to, because there was,
I can't remember the full mechanics of them.
There was stuff that they gained that over time unlocked new things.
It's basically if you achieve... It's like unlock achievements.
Like with Verasti.
Have you been keeping a track of how much blood Verasti...
What is it up to currently?
I've not checked in on this for a while.
I made a note. When was the last combat?
Probably in the vault itself, right?
Yeah, yeah.
Let's see, it's in here somewhere, it's 40 something.
Okay, okay.
So once Verasti has consumed a certain amount of blood,
that unlocks one of its nodes on the relic, basically.
Okay, fair enough.
But that might vary depending on what it is, right?
So it's not like socketable?
Some of it can be.
Okay, all right, fair enough.
Some of it can be. 43, all right, fair enough.
43. 43.
So for example, Verasty does have sockets as well.
It has two sockets that things can be attached to.
Those arcane essences,
you can just automatically socket those in.
So for example, you can make Verasty a flaming weapon
or you can give like, if you find like a relic armor,
you might be able to socket something into that.
Yeah, like an air essence.
Just veracity, and then there's the potential of the rod.
The potential of the Celestial Rod,
but I need someone to look at it, so I can actually use it.
It's currently locked as an item.
But we just got a postcard from someone who can look at it.
Nope.
Okay, we, so yeah, I've got some essences
that I can use to craft some things.
So we can talk about that separately.
That's another thing I want to do in the downtime, just to research those things.
But the rest, there is a lot of stuff.
There is a lot of stuff to sell.
Sure.
So much stuff.
I have some things to sell as well, but it's on my inventory and I don't have it.
It is definitely something over the next week or the next few days that I'd like you guys to think about, like, what items you want to make, what items you things to sell as well, but it's on my inventory and I don't have it. It is definitely something over the next week
or the next few days I'd like you guys to think about
what items you wanna make, what items you wanna sell,
but it's also good for you guys at home
to know sort of the options that are within the game.
Let's take this 2,000 then as our base rate
and see what we can do with it.
See what we can do with it.
I wanna get out there schmoozing.
You wanna put a word out to try and hire some people?
To be fair, Xandies's kind of got the public.
So you need a manager and a server.
You do that, yeah.
Let's start with that.
Daisy, can you sketch out some really nice
recruitment letters?
Okay.
Something to catch someone's eye.
Yeah.
Tyrea's Rest is in business, eventually,
and we're looking for staff and suppliers
and something to get people excited about
what's happening soon.
Okay.
Changing the landscape of restaurants forever.
I'll do that.
I'll use my downtime I guess to try and-
So this would be a crafting thing during your downtime.
I'll do that.
Can you make me a roll?
This is gonna be, you are proficient with painter's tools
because we established that you've learned that.
So this would be your proficiency bonus,
and I'm gonna say on this one, charisma modifier,
because it's about self-expression and everything else.
I think art is charisma-based.
Okay.
That's a natural one.
It is a very daisy advert, so it's very bright and colorful,
but maybe it's not the most eligible,
or maybe the most important version is lost.
I got distracted by the illustrations
and forgot about the words.
Yeah, so it's mostly picture,
and then there's like squeezed in like crazy.
I forgot, I got carried away.
The pictures are amazing as always,
but I mean some of the text,
it kind of like gets kind of scrunched up
towards the end there.
It looks like you ran out of space a little bit.
It's fine, no, the next guess.
I'm not actually sure what that says.
Oh, it's just the street address, it's fine.
They don't need that.
Okay, that might be one of the things.
People might know where we are already.
It says Tyria's Rest.
They can figure the rest out, right? I figured that part. It. It says Tyria's Rest. They can figure the rest out, right?
I figured that part's which would be-
It does just say Tyria's Rest wanted.
Intrigue.
So with that, that post is gonna go up on the board.
Come on, you're great.
I can't believe you made 200 of these.
That will determine the sort of quality of staff
you get applying for this role.
Oh, these interviews are gonna be great, guys!
Where do we wanna go, Merchants Guild,
or do we wanna talk to consider it?
Well, I've kind of given you that information already,
so that's out of the place.
So what I would say is now,
is you've got the recruitment out,
we'll do some interview RP in a minute.
The other thing you could do is,
remember this is downtime activities,
so everybody but now Daisy, you have a fit,
like we know what Aphelios is gonna be doing,
with the Great Father communing and stuff like that,
and also possibly talking to Elana and dance lessons.
So I'd say your downtime is done,
we'll resolve that in a bit.
So Rowan, Gruff and Xanthius,
you guys have downtime activities,
like where it can be researching,
you can be making money, you guys have downtime activities. Like, it can be researching, you can be making money,
you can go out performing, you can train.
So the stuff, the materials and the workshop,
I just know that already.
I'm gonna say you mostly know that.
Unless you wanna create something,
that would be your downtime, basically.
Yeah, okay.
I feel like we need to research some stuff a bit more
before we do that, though.
Yeah, I'll figure out what to potentially create.
Unless, could I, if Reet Gauntlet on my clothes,
I've already got resistance to fire,
can I give myself fire immunity?
No.
That's quite strong, Thomas.
You don't have to say no to that one.
You try that.
I'm at the tier above where I start absorbing fire damage.
I would say that you would,
that is something you would be able to do.
I would say that would require a relic.
That would need to be like a powerful relic thing
that you can get immunity to fire.
Okay, all right.
Well, we can talk about crime.
Sure, sure, sure.
I just thought it'd be funny to have that.
Rowan.
Rowan is going to offer his bardic services
at all the different taverns and use that
to get in with the tavern owners
and ask them if there's any secret suppliers
that they just can't get hold of.
So it's kind of research,
but you want to use performance to do that.
I love that.
Make a performance roll for me, please.
I literally sing it in my songs.
Oh, barcube.
Does anybody know where we can buy booze?
Wholesale.
For good pride.
Is there room for Fantasy Costco?
Fantasy Costco, very nice.
I was actually thinking about signing us up for Costco.
That's a good idea.
I signed us up for Costco.
Really?
Legit, like years ago and nobody ever freaking used it.
Anyway, we're gonna put that conversation on hold.
Never paid for it though.
Let's see the dice roll.
Dice rolling D&D.
Plus nine.
Whoa.
Three.
12.
Tweet it.
We're doing it.
Use the one fate we have.
You sure? Do it, do it. I know why I. Use the one fate we have. Use the, you sure? What's your down to?
Do it, do it.
I know why I'm spending this fate on, by the way.
Oh. Oh no.
It's all the interviews.
Oh, shitty.
Okay.
I got two on that, so that was 14.
14.
And you got no abilities to reroll or anything like that?
No, that sounds really good.
All right.
I'll give you one.
So normally, depending on the results of research,
I give you more and more information.
The only thing you hear about,
most of the tavern owners and people here,
Horgram and things like that,
they work through the normal supplies.
They normally get their supplies from Feros,
which is the capital of Kaldra,
and it's just your kind of bog-standard stuff.
You hear one rumor.
Somewhere nearby, just in the hills,
maybe about a day's travel out from Ashen's Rest,
there is a vineyard of vinters out there called.
Brr brr brr brr brr.
Where did I write it down?
Where the drink swallows the mountain.
Twice. Twice.
Twice. Twice.
A vineyard.
It is a vineyard.
With a vineyard.
Where did I write it?
I knew it!
No, it's five months away.
I wrote it, I think.
Yes, it is the Valentina Vineyards.
And they used to supply really fine cauldron wine
to Ashen's Rest and many other places.
But they stopped doing business like a week ago,
nobody's really heard from them,
they don't know what's going on,
they don't know if it's a supply issue or whatever.
But they used to be great,
but yeah, nobody's heard from them in a while.
It's like they need a favor.
Is it a wine that Ophelia has had?
It's probably when you went up to the dukes
and you had that really nice wine,
that was a Valentina wine.
Oh.
So it's a nice, it's a very, very nice wine.
We need to do something about that immediately.
Yeah.
So yeah, that is like the one sort of special supplier.
That was like a week or two ago.
It was like, yeah, maybe like about a week issue,
wait, week or two ago,
but nobody's really heard from them since.
Okay.
Or I suppose that, like, yeah, you would be like,
oh, but like we stopped getting socks and like, you know,
nobody, we're not getting supplies from them anymore.
So there you go.
That's your research as you spend the week
sort of traveling around the different taverns
and playing and stuff like that
and eventually you would learn about that.
Cool.
Gruffin's Antius, is there anything
you'd like to do in your downtime?
What you got?
I mean, so yeah, I would like to do something
about upgrading armor and weapons
but we can discuss that outside the stream.
I mean, if you want, you've got the,
has anyone else got Masterwork?
I think it's just me.
Yeah.
Nope.
Because you have the shield and the staff.
Would you want a fiery staff?
Some kind of fire addition to your staff.
A lightning plate armor. I'm quite interested in staff. A lightning plate armor.
I'm quite interested in that.
Or a lightning plate armor.
Lightning, yeah, the lightning thing.
Or both, is both an option.
I imagine leaping from the sky.
They are two separate things.
You would need to speak to Ilana Vidante
to see what she can make with that.
Because the five bars is probably not enough
to make a full suit of it,
but probably there would be some sort of
lightning magic equivalent. Might not be resistance to lightning, but there would be some sort of lightning magic equivalent.
Might not be resistance to lightning,
but there would be something.
And it might cost a little bit of gold as well.
But the Ifrit Gauntlet, I would say,
Xanthius could spend his downtime
taking the fiery magic of that gauntlet
and imbuing it into the hook stuff.
If I did want to turn it into a wand,
the Ifriti Gauntlet, what what do I know what it would give me?
No.
I would tell you that it would be a range of...
It would kind of be similar to the wand of the Sculptor,
where it would be...
It wouldn't be like a recharges charge thing.
It would be like, here's like 30 or 20 charges.
It costs these spells, they cost this amount of charges,
and then when it's done, it's done.
Fair enough. So it'd be a bunch of extra spells. Okay. It costs these spells, they cost this amount of charges, and then when it's done, it's done.
Fair enough.
So it'd be a bunch of extra spells.
I would say, I will tell you that the highest level spell
would be a third level spell.
Fair enough, okay, cool.
So powerful enough to give you like third level,
second level, and first level spells.
Can I use the Demon Gun as an essence?
That is a very interesting question.
We've looked at the Demon Gun in a while.
You've not really looked at it.
You don't know much about it.
That would take, I would say that would also,
to research and figure that thing out
would be a downtime.
That would be worth doing, to be fair.
Carry on.
I would also like to spend some time in my little hut
and send a message to my wife.
Yeah, perfect.
What's the message?
I love you.
Okay.
I miss you.
Is this real, is this legit?
It would probably be like kind of updating
like what has happened that I found the order
and I've started my way.
I would like you to write me a 25 word message.
Doesn't have to be right now.
Oh, 25.
It's sending.
It's basically a sending, I believe.
The animal messenger, if you use the animal messenger
equivalent of the sanctuary power,
which is a once a week power,
it's a 25 word message and you can send that.
So write it down for me and I would like to actually
physically have that message.
I will think about that.
Love that.
Love that for you. And then I love that for me.
And then the only other thing is I would like to...
Is there anything in the hut that I can do?
So that's one of them.
So that's like a once per week power,
and then it takes a week to recharge.
So by the time the downtime is done,
you'll get that power back.
The only other thing you can do with the Sanctuary is,
brr brr brr brr, and you need to remember this as well
if you do, because you have a similar power to this,
is by spending one hour performing a ritual here
and using 25 GP offering, you can,
so that's what you would do to send a message.
The other thing you can do with it is,
you can spend that, and this is a seven day recharge as well,
is gain one additional spell slot of a level
up to your proficiency bonus.
So you get like a free, like, temp spell slot.
Apart from that, it's kind of like,
you can sit there and commune with it,
and if you want to do a cool RP thing, you absolutely can,
and I might, you know, we can spend Fate Dice
and do stuff interesting with it.
But I would say that those are the mechanical things you can do with the Sanctuary. You absolutely can, and I might, you know, we can spend Fate Dice and do stuff interesting with it.
But I would say that those are the mechanical things
you can do with the Sanctuary.
Could I, and it might be that I need to do a different thing.
Commune with it.
To try and make some kind of connection with Ulfey.
To ask about stuff.
Interesting.
What kind of stuff?
What stuff, bro?
Hey, what's up, bro?
Just fun stuff.
What stuff, bro?
Hmm.
Why do you look at me when you said that
for podcast listeners?
I will.
I will treat this like the research downtime activity.
Yeah, because, but the effect will be,
depending on the result of your roll,
which I'm gonna have you make in a moment,
you will be able to ask me up to three questions,
or no questions if you really fudge it.
Those questions will be similar to the commune spell,
so they will need to be yes or no questions.
You are basically casting the commune spell.
Do you wear wigs?
Uh.
Will you?
Do you wear wigs?
Which is a fifth level spell.
It's not yes or no at all.
Do you wear wigs?
No.
If a one word answer would be misleading
or contrary to Alfey's interests,
you might get a short phrase of an answer instead.
It's basically the community bell.
This will be a religion.
Or nature, because it is Alfey and you are a druid.
Wait, am I bad?
Yeah, nature is a minus one for me.
Really?
My highest is perception.
He's not a smart guy.
Animal handling, survival.
No, religion or nature?
Perception.
Religion or nature?
Unfortunately, Rowan used the fate as well.
Yeah, he used it on both.
Which, I mean.
And we didn't even get him.
We got the finest one.
You got one result as opposed to no result.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Pulled me into one result.
Yeah, yeah.
I roll a 10 plus 2.
10 plus 2, 12.
I will give you one question.
Oh, shit.
It has to be now.
No to going to break and thinking about it.
Oh, you don't want to, okay.
One question now.
Uh-oh.
Preferably with a yes or no question.
No crash.
No yes or no answer.
Can I get three people to plug their ears for a second?
So everybody but Katie.
I'm gonna leave.
You don't have to.
Good.
I'm gonna go out there and have Re-Fight Me again.
What did you say?
Um.
Can. What did you say? Um... Can...
I'm just trying to think where Gruff would be
in terms of what he's heard.
Like, would he be believing, would he be unbelieving?
Would he, okay, um...
Heard it straight from the angel's mouth.
Can sovereign's influence be blocked from a person?
Oh, that's a good question.
You, Gruff, sit within the icy tundra of your little sanctuary.
You feel that cold wind blowing over you.
You can hear the faint rustling as Leo's spirit
shifts the snow and ice around them.
And you try and quieten everything
and the sounds of Ashen's Rest die away,
the sounds of bustling streets and things like that,
until there is just the wind.
And on the wind, you hear a very, very faint,
very weak voice.
Yes.
That is the answer to your question.
You made it, you're good.
I was really rubbing my ears.
Yeah, me too.
I was making my body make as much noise as possible.
Make your body make as much noise?
Yeah, like making my ear like...
You can push like...
Doing the pack math.
Oh yeah, no I was like, yeah I was like rubbing them.
I thought you were saying like inside your body where like your stomach was gurgling.
My elbows are creaking good.
I got a good creak arm.
Little creaky arms.
So that is Gruff's downtime done, as you spend that. And that's like over a week, right?
You learn this meditative process,
you go out there every day.
Sometimes there isn't an answer until that one day
when you get that answer, in the last day.
So that just leaves Enthius with the downtime.
Yeah, so I guess it's either,
so if I was to do research into the Demon Gun,
could I collate that into just research
into just all of the weird stuff that we have
or would it just be that one thing?
No, I would allow you to combine it with the other stuff.
There isn't probably that much to learn from the other stuff.
I think I've kind of told you everything you need to know.
Yeah, I think the spell stones,
I've kind of got a stronger idea of how they work.
And the same as the, there isn't really much more
to learn about the wand or the injector,
sort of mutagenic.
You've identified them, you know all the magical properties.
So I could, yeah, I could research the demon gun
and potentially get something more out of that
as an essence to then be able to craft something.
Or, like I said earlier, I go out of Shmoozin'
and basically do an assistance to Rowan
to either drum up some interest in this new tavern
that's opening up, or try to find-
Well that would be a different thing.
If you want to drum up interest
to maybe improve your sales and stuff,
that's a whole different thing.
But you can do that, that's an option.
Is that something I could do early?
Even before it's open?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, absolutely.
Yeah, how would yeah. Absolutely.
Yeah, how would I go about doing that though? Well you just do the schmooze.
I just go out there just like.
Ladies and gentlemen, coming soon,
Tyria's Rest reopening, grand reveal!
You know, you go out and do that,
you go and you make, you know,
going into shops like meeting important people
and schmoozing with the Merchants Guild.
Now, have I got so much of a name for myself
that I can start making appearances at places?
Yeah.
Oh, shit.
Yeah, absolutely.
Ah.
I wanna rub shoulders with the elites in the city,
the rich of the rich, the...
With the no people.
With the purpose of improving the tavern when it's open,
basically giving it an extra thing.
That would be a persuasion roll, please.
Persuasion, persuasion, of which I have a plus six.
Sorry?
Roll better than me and Kim.
Watch this, Troy.
Hey, can I have all of my D20s back, Kim?
Oh, sorry, I didn't actually get those back.
The only one I've got is my weird one.
I don't think you want me to roll that.
Thank you.
Every time.
Ooh, with a plus six, I've got 15.
15, okay.
You definitely have some success,
perhaps not the best success, but you have some success.
We're rolling so good today.
You will have, there will be a boost,
your first month of sales, I will give a boost.
Okay.
Nice.
The popularity boom.
Bar one month.
This will be the first month when it's like just chaos
and everyone's gonna see how much of a disaster this is.
Top workers are so unskilled.
So the only person left is Ophelia.
What would you like to do first?
Because Gravefather stuff is like,
you can do it in the evenings,
and then depending on what,
this is more of a social call with Ilana,
we can roleplay that out.
But yeah, what is your goal for this week
with the Gravefather and Ilana?
Okay, so I would like to address the Freya situation
and try and get some insight into that.
Okay, can you roll for me please
an arcana or religion?
Okey dokey.
Again, I'm treating this like a research downtime,
so you will get answers depending on how well you do.
What's your better one, Arcana or?
I don't know, my page is...
It's gotta be religion, right?
Rhiannon, how full is the iPad's memory?
It's fine.
Yeah, mm-hmm.
You had this problem with Rhiannon's phone the other day.
It was so fucking slow because the memory is full.
It's so zoomed because the memory is full.
So zoomed in.
Zoomed in?
What have you done?
Okay.
All right, what are we looking at here?
Religion or arcana?
Religion's plus three.
Arcana is zero.
All right, religion then.
Plus three.
Oh my God, bro.
Bro.
12. 12, so kind of the same thing, bro. Bro. 12.
12, so kind of the same thing, very low level of success.
You, but.
Fuck, don't make me.
I will give you first, you guys did pretty bad.
Oh, you suck.
You spend some time communing with the Great Father.
Can I have Theresa join me?
Oh.
Like, come into.
Yes, I will give you advantage.
You can roll again.
For Theresa helping you.
She can hold my Vial of Blood and everything
and pour it into the chalice and...
And she joins you in the prayers and everything else.
That's better.
Unnatural 20.
Oh, that is much better.
Much, much better.
With Theresa joining you,
you kind of spend your nights with Theresa in prayer.
Perhaps maybe even some of the other junior acolytes
or the interested people come along.
We need to sort out all their names and stuff at some point.
But yeah, Aaron.
The Quentin.
You, that's it.
Sit in prayer.
And after multiple nights in prayer
and making small offerings and offering things out,
the black glass of the mirror begins to ripple.
And a looming figure, shrouded in shadows,
not able to quite see their face or their features,
just the dark silhouette of a well-built, tall, powerful,
masculine figure on a throne.
You seek to bring another to our realm, my child.
I do.
This one.
I do. This one.
It is very different to the banshee Tyria.
Yes, she has suffered greatly at the hands of the proto-magi,
and I would like her to at least find some peace in your kingdom. Her spirit is tattered, fragmented. There is a
ritual I can teach you. This ritual will help you with lost spirits, as it seems you have found a fondness for
collecting them. But this one will be challenging. What state the spirit is in
will depend on your devotion, my child.
Well you know my devotion is only as strong as it has ever been, my lord.
Then prove it.
Send another great servant to our house.
I will. Each servant bolsters our strength.
You learn a ritual.
A ritual that cannot be cast as a spell.
This is a long, hour-long ritual that takes time
and resources that will allow you to communicate
with a spirit as long as you have some of its remains.
And that that spirit lingers,
has not moved on or has not ascended
or gone to another plane.
As long as it is still within the material sphere,
the material plane, you will be able to reach out to it.
But this is not a guaranteed thing.
The condition of the spirit will make the ritual more challenging.
It will be a skill challenge that you alone or you with allies will be able to perform.
The success of it will determine how...
how...
how intact the spirit is.
And therefore its mental state and everything else.
And you learn that, that's what you learn in your downtime. Thank you for your wisdom, great father.
You do great work.
There are others who also vie for my attention. They have drawn more
believers, but you, you have proven yourself a much greater warrior.
I watch both of you with interest.
I will let the Countess know of your progress.
Thank you. I will gather more followers in your grace.
Yes.
I will fight harder for you than I've ever fought before.
Good.
My life is yours.
Yeah.
With that, the mirror returns to normal.
And yeah, so you now have this ritual available.
He's got a lot of follow-ups to be invested.
He does.
He's been busy.
Fucking asshole.
Don't leave the board.
Lovely.
Who?
Great question.
Who indeed?
Who?
Who could have filled your mind?
None of us were at this ritual.
No.
It was just you and, yeah.
But, Theresa, when you come out of this ritual,
you can see, like, tears down her face.
Like, She is...
Was it him?
It was, yes.
He spoke to us, Sister Ophelia.
We are greatly blessed to be in his presence.
We are.
I'm so pleased.
I prayed to Pyrrhus and Maely all my life.
I was a devoted follower of the Scions,
and not once did they answer my prayers.
But he has.
You can just see she's just...
Just cut like her hands, like her little face.
Face in my hands.
She looks at you with just adoration, Like, Teresa, not love, like, intimate,
this is just belief and faith,
and she is a loyal member of this flock.
And she is, for lack of a better word, yours.
You know, like, she believes in Sister Ophelia,
no matter what, ride or die.
Exactly. Yeah. But, yeah, we've learned that ritual, that's your downtime. Awesome. in Sister Ophelia, no matter what, ride or die.
Yeah, but yeah, we've learned that ritual,
that's your downtime.
Awesome.
With that, there's only one thing
which we will get to after the break.
Okay.
Which could I have, well, Katie was the one
who did the recruitment poster,
so I feel it's only fitting.
That's true.
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight.
I do have one last thing as well before we go.
Is this like an assistance thing or...? No.
Edgy, can you roll a D10 for me?
Six.
Six. Can you roll it again for me?
Four.
And one more time.
Two.
642 applicants? I can't believe it.
That's right.
That's more people than there are in Ashen Wrens.
One, two, three, four.
Oh, perfect.
Oh, I see. Okay, I see.
Okay, and then Kim, you have something you would like to say?
It was just the message I want to send to you.
Oh, you've written it? Perfect.
It's 25 words.
Okay.
Yeah.
I've had to do some bad grammar to get this in.
I am Knight Errant.
There is a boy here.
He reminds me of ours.
I failed them.
I will not fail him.
I love you.
Alright. That love you. All right.
That's a great one.
When you finish composing this,
you, you know, scroll on a small piece of parchment,
and in that little tundra biome,
you hear a distant sort of whistling,
and not an iced diver, you hear a distant sort of whistling.
And not an ice diver, but a bird you know quite well,
Frosthawk, kind of more for the mountainous region
in Iceheart, less the coast, but just out of nowhere
swoops down and lands on the top of your shrine,
your little hermitage sanctuary,
and lets you tie the little message onto his foot,
sort of looks at you, nods its little head.
Ah!
Flies up and sails, starts flying north.
Fly there to deliver said message.
Can you pass me your actual?
Can I write it down on a note?
You can, I will allow it.
Okay.
With that then, we're gonna take a break.
Well, Katie has been drawing up the actual recruitment poster.
It's pretty fitting.
It's like only at the very, very bottom there
does it say Tyria's Rest Wanted.
The rest of it is just flowers and leaves.
It's perfect.
You really got carried away with the rest of the illustration.
Yeah.
Draw an owl.
Draw a circle.
She forgot what she was doing.
Yeah.
She was just drawing pretty pictures,
and then she went, oh crap, no, add her!
Wrote that, and immediately goes to the printer's guild,
like, 200 copies of this, please!
Starts throwing them out everywhere.
Very nice.
Well, perfect. With that, we. Starts throwing them out everywhere. Very nice.
Well, perfect.
With that, we will see you all in part two.
Until then, take care and bye bye.
We'll see you soon.
Bye bye.
See you next time.
Bye bye bye.
Bye bye.
Bye bye.
Bye bye.
Bye bye.
Bye bye.
Bye bye.
Bye bye.
Bye bye.
Bye bye.
Bye bye.
Bye bye.
Bye bye.
Bye bye.
Bye bye.
Bye bye.
Bye bye.
Bye bye.
Bye bye.
