Our heroes have had a very tense confrontation with Lord Obsidius,
the red and black draconic lord, son of Duke Ignarius.
And they have come out of it unscathed,
having convinced Lord Obsidius not to kill Xanthius,
and that indeed they should seek help
to try and prevent the control of sovereign and to further
investigate this change of affairs.
Obsidius has agreed to take them to see his mentor
who taught him much about magic in the hopes of finding further answers.
Keeping Xanthius in the Ducal Palace to keep an eye on him, whilst the rest of the party finished up their business
in Ashen's Rest, which included a lovely date
for Sister Ophelia and Ilana Vidante.
But as we arrive, and I think we will just sort of
skip ahead and cut to you guys arriving back
at Lord Obsidius's study
in the morning.
Do I get anything from the books I read?
Any particular juicy tidbits or is it...
I think that you...
You don't find any sort of historical event or recollection
similar to what the new information you received.
No possession.
It seems like the people, the dragons,
Galvassar and his followers,
and even mortals who managed to become mutated and warped,
because most of them who were serving Galvassar
did eventually become corrupted as well.
They were still themselves.
They weren't taken over.
There's no reports of golden lies or anything like that.
It is instead that they were driven to fulfill
sort of their ambitions and their thirst for power
and things like that.
You would learn that Sovereign, as a creator deity,
there is not a lot written about them
because of the events of the Equinox War
and the Bright Storm.
Sovereign, sort of worship of Sovereign was outlawed.
Because there was a fear that worshiping Sovereign
would strengthen them again.
And allow them to escape from the crown.
And so for a long time it's been outlawed
and that reminds you of that church in the Ash Hills
with the reclaimers where they were very much
worshiping Galvasar and everything else.
Burned it, mate.
Yeah, burned it.
In terms of, there's no mechanical,
I would say no real strong mechanical benefit to this.
Yeah, no, that's fine, it just does everything.
Definitely, you do pick up a few things.
What's that?
It's a fly, a big dire fly.
Dire fly?
Yeah, a dire fly.
Buzz buzz.
Buzz buzz.
Buzz buzz.
Buzz buzz.
But yes, but that's kind of what you gain.
Yeah, okay, cool.
The rest of the party arrive, Obsidius,
doesn't look like Obsidius slept.
I don't know if Xanthius would have.
Did Ophelia sleep?
Oh my.
How late was she out?
That is your choice.
As a DM, especially in romance scenarios with NPCs,
I sort of give you full control over this.
Like where, like, Ilana is definitely receptive
to the idea of maybe being invited back to the inn,
or perhaps you going back with Ilana,
but doesn't make the first move.
It's sort of waiting to see what Ophelia suggests.
I was just thinking more in terms of just,
not necessarily... Or like, how late?
How late we are out.
Oh, I mean, Ilana definitely will want to stay out late.
We late people. Yeah.
Yeah, yeah, okay, okay, okay.
Like, no, like, you're not, this isn't a big city,
so it's not like you can go out,
like there's clubs and parties and bars
and things like that to go around.
But like, you can stay up drinking late in the Grumpy Hawk,
like you can go for nice nighttime walks around,
you know, that kind of stuff for sure.
Yeah, they would have done that then.
Okay, great.
Late night. Lovely.
Late night.
So you got some sleep, but yeah, a little tired, yeah.
Love that.
Dance.
We dance?
There would be a dance, yeah, I think so.
Like maybe in like one of the inns or something like that.
There's definitely someone playing music, so, yeah.
Everyone's-
Did you see her ankles?
Oh, I always see her ankles.
They're always out.
Scandalous.
Damn.
It's scandalous. It's scandalous.
Oh, she's great.
Oh, she's so great.
Don't you make me yawn.
Sorry, I'm ready.
I'm ready.
Me and Obsidius are up all night reading our books,
flicking our legs. What you talking about?
What you doing?
Is that really what happens?
It's interesting though, does Xanthus try and sleep
after everything that happened?
I try to.
Like there was a suggestion, it would be best for me
to do so.
So you didn't talk.
Yeah, more so I didn't talk, yeah.
But like, it would have been exhausting
just the pressure and the fear of that small moment
interviewing people.
Yeah.
That was the stressful bit of the day.
You have nightmares of Terran Darkblade
standing over your bed.
How did he teleport behind me?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Too much neck.
Yeah, there was too much neck, I still.
There is.
There's no neck, yeah.
But yeah.
Yeah, I'll attempt,
but whether I actually get any decent sleep is extremely unlikely.
You all arrive back, Obsidius waiting for you.
You can see that the circle of runes on the ground,
he does not seem to be using that.
He will say, I should warn you now.
I am going to teleport us to Scaramotellos' tower.
However, whilst I am very familiar with it,
there is a chance we may be knocked off course
ever so slightly.
He is on an island.
At worst case, you will get a bit wet,
and then I will collect you,
and we will fly there if necessary.
But I should warn you in advance,
that is a small chance.
Graff's not gonna be happy if he gets wet.
He'll love her.
You do realize I'm a fisherman?
Yeah, but it'll take ages to dry.
My livelihood is on the sea.
But it'll take ages to dry. It's not on the sea. It'll take ages to dry.
It's not really been a problem for me before.
Okay.
Conviction to dry.
All right.
With that, Obsidius will just simply instruct you all
to gather and to just gather around him, basically.
I think...
Here we go again.
I'll like hold hands out for people to hold,
maybe one to Ophelia, one to Grav.
Do you think we'll get a giant dragon on a boat?
Or maybe, you know, like last time we teleported,
there was a big yacht near on a boat.
Oh, yes.
God, rock.
The stone.
Rock god.
Oh.
I used my sister's stone before.
You used it before, yeah. Yes. I'll be interested to learn of that when we are done with our business we used my sister's stone before.
I'll be interested to learn of that when we are done with our business.
It's really cool.
I would recommend you all prepare yourselves.
How? I hold my breath, cross my eyes...
You've never needed to do that before.
It's always really weird and I don't know if there's a better way to get myself ready.
What would you usually do before you get plunged into water?
I don't know. Just in case that happens.
I'm going to hold my breath.
Cross my eyes.
Cross my eyes.
Not no breath.
Hold my breath.
Cross my legs.
Hopefully. I'm going to wee.
We will.
I've weed.
Oh, I've already weed.
So, if I'm big, do I wee more?
Ha ha ha ha!
Important questions, Christa, thank you.
Obsidius is going to cast Teleport.
Now because this is not a linked,
he does not have a linked object or a permanent circle,
this does have a chance of going off course.
It's a 25% chance of things going wrong.
That's quite high! That's quite high!
75%, no, 75% chance it will be fine. Oh, okay. 25% chance it will going wrong. That's quite high. That's quite high. 75%, no, 75% chance it will be fine.
Oh, okay. 25 is still.
25% chance it will go wrong.
Okay. I believe in those odds.
I'm going to roll this publicly.
We'll end up in space.
So wait, are we doing low 25?
Yes, so this is low 25.
So the exact options are, I'll tell you this,
if I get a one to a five is a mishap.
Right. A six to a 13, a five is a mishap. Right.
A six to a 13, you end up in a similar area.
14 to 24, you are off target.
25 or higher, you are on target.
Okay, okay.
Mishap, mishap, mishap.
No!
38, you are more than five.
Make it.
Can you spell the name of the mentor?
Scaratalos.
Scaratalos, S-C-A-R-A-T-A-L-O-S.
Yes!
Oh, it was one L.
Yeah!
Scaratalos.
I put two Ls.
Yeah, I put two Ls.
I think you did.
I just shove a white in there.
I think that's probably in there.
Would you also, because I know the wiki team will want it,
I will also read you out his mother's name.
Because I am very aware that there is a popular
World of Warcraft raid boss called Onyxia,
and I desperately wanted to avoid that.
I see.
So it is Onyxia, Onyxia, I can't fucking say it now.
Onyxia, Onyxia, Onyxia, no, I'm just saying. You just said Onyx... Onyxia... I can't fucking say it now. Onyxia.
Onyxia.
No, I'm saying it. You just said Onyxia.
I know, I know.
I know there's one called Onyxia.
This is how it's spelled.
This one is Onyxia.
Onyxia.
O-N-Y-X-I-S-Y-I-A.
Onyxia, that's it.
Onyxia.
Onyxia.
Onyxia.
O-N-Y-X.
O-N-Y-X-I-S-Y-I-H.
Onyxia.
Onyxia.
I don't know what it is about
when you're on camera writing something down
that you are spelling, I sometimes lose the power of like,
don't fuck up, don't fuck it up,
and I'm like, you're literally listening to it.
Yeah, it's fine.
Oh, we got it, there you go.
We did it.
When Obsidius casts this spell,
it is not like the Rune Stone of Hearthenheim.
There is no pausing of time,
there is no sensation of watching this river of stars.
Instead, you feel a sudden eruption of heat and black smoke.
Almost completely engulfs your vision
as black red flames engulf all of you,
as if you are incinerated.
Ah!
Oh!
Oh!
Sorry.
Feel yourselves almost ripped into like a whirlwind,
a firestorm almost, as you fly up through the tower, out of the large dome,
and a speed greater than you can imagine,
similar to the speed of when you were traveling
via the boat, the longboat.
You begin to sail across the sky,
the land passing rapidly below you,
as eventually it becomes open ocean,
and then you land.
The firestorm slams into the ground and you appear in that same sort of eruption
of this black and red flame that immediately dies out as you land on a sort of little rocky outcropping of a
quite small island.
It's not a huge island.
There is enough where you can see, as you land,
the first thing that comes to mind is the enormous
circular building that rises up before you.
As soon as you see that,
you can see that it's beautifully carved,
ornate stonework.
You can see sculptures of dragons,
of engravings of the stars,
and everything, you know, all around the outside of it,
with a beautiful kind of tiled dome roof,
from which a large metal cylinder
sort of seems to be sticking out as an observatory.
What you also notice is that there,
at the very base of this tower,
there is a small village of little houses,
perfectly sized for cobbles, say, of that size.
No more than sort of like six little huts
with a few communal buildings and things like that,
maybe scattered around.
You can see the remnants of a campfire and things out here.
And then also a small jetty, like a dock nearby,
that seems to stretch out into the open ocean,
which you now look around is all around you.
Imagine that for a lot of you,
this will be your first time being this far out at sea.
I know that obviously for Gruff,
you've seen the ocean playing times.
I imagine Rowan may have traveled,
on his travels, seen the coast.
And Ophelia, obviously you remember the treacherous
and rather terrifying journey across the sea
coming from Osseus.
But maybe for Xanthius and Daisy,
this is your sort of first time seeing it.
And here in-
She can't see it right now.
She's on the floor, curled up in a ball
with her eyes closed.
There you go, can't see nothing.
This is fire.
This is way off now.
The map we have of Caldre.
The map is now-
You are no longer in Caldre.
We're not.
You are no longer in Caldre.
Yeah.
Those of you who do look around can see
that there is a sort of glitter to the sky
and the sea around here.
Like, there's almost this sort of effervescence
twinkling to everything.
It seems to almost permeate the ocean and the land
and everything around here.
But yeah, you arrive in place.
Never feels good.
Please tell me.
How's it different again?
Please tell me that this is the right place, Obsidius.
Yes, we are here.
Spell did not falter.
Daisy, Daisy, it's okay, it's okay.
It was so fiery.
It's all right.
It was so fiery.
It wasn't real. You're right.
I don't like fire.
It wasn't real. My apologies,. I don't like fire. It wasn't real.
My apologies, my dear.
Okay. Metriconic essence.
That's okay, it's not your fault.
It's all good.
Oh, look, water.
Cool, yeah, great.
We are here.
This is my mentor's home now.
Before we step inside, please let me make one thing very clear.
Scaratelos is a very old dragon.
They are of the first generation.
They were sired by the dragon empress herself.
So I say this, and he looks at Xanthias.
I beg of you, show respect.
Do we, um. As you would to an elder.
Okay, do we, is it a name that we would have heard before?
Or do we even know how many of the first generation
of dragons may have?
There were a lot of them.
So the first generation generally refers to the sort of
first set of Wyrmlings that the empress kind of
progenerated, progen...
gave birth to.
I tried to use a fancy word.
I couldn't even tell you. But it's not just like the first batch of eggs,
it's like the first couple of batches.
So it's the dragons who kind of all grew up together,
and then the Empress took a long, like she would wait
a long time before giving birth to a new set,
so that there was a staggered sort of like generations of them,
and then they could all start sort of having children
and then it would kind of spread out.
But yeah, if Scare and all start sort of having children and then it would kind of spread out.
But yeah, if Scarametallus is of the first generation,
it means he is 900 or more years old,
and it means that he has been around
since the founding of the Empire.
It dawns on you very quickly, Xanthias,
and you would have read this in your books,
he was present during the Oriate Insurrection,
and he fought alongside the Empress
against Galvassar himself.
Okay, that's good to know.
He, like, you know, his name crops up a lot.
Did it say what type of dragon,
I could just ask, I suppose,
but did it say what type of dragon he is?
Yeah, in fact, you would have read
that he was indeed a bronze dragon.
He was one of, the bronze dragons were very split.
Many of them did join Galvasar.
But it's believed that his, you know,
being the first generation and being direct,
like, you know, he's protected his mother, basically.
Like, he was firmly on his mother's side.
Yes, okay.
Galdvasar was also first generation, so.
And so they had grown up together.
The first gen's always the best gen, though.
That's pretty good.
The original first one.
The first one, five, one is pretty good.
Yeah, maybe there was 151 first dragons.
I have a note.
There's a really weird corrupted one in the next game.
Yeah, it's glitchy.
Yeah, it's a bit cute one.
But no. It's a really weird corrupted one in the next game. Yeah, it's a glitchy. Yeah, it's a glitchy one. But anyway, yes, so he would just say,
like, I ask please for your own sake as well as decency.
He deserves your respect.
I hope you will show it to him.
What are the proper titles to refer to him as?
No different to my father, I suppose, your draconic majesty,
my lord, Scarotalos.
If you really wish to impress him,
refer to him as Second Magister of the Academia.
Second Magister of the Academia.
Yes.
Second Magister. And how long was he your mentor for?
Since I was old enough to manifest magic beyond that of which normal dragons have access to. I went to the Academia as an escape and even there I was not particularly
welcomed, but Scaratelos saw past that and was a good friend and a mentor to me. It is
thanks to him that I made my way back into the world and made peace with my father and many others.
He is the wisest and smartest dragon or person being that I know.
But he is old and I know that he is approaching the end of his natural life.
He does not have much time left.
And I know that the loss of the Empress devastated him particularly. That is when he stopped teaching and he came here.
But you will...
He can be eccentric, but he is...
He is the one we need.
Yeah, I'm looking at his mega tower in the middle of this island.
It's kind of very similar in size to Dominus Ignarum in the Ducal Palace,
but maybe just the central area where you guys have been.
He's like, well, let's just make our way.
Okay.
He will lead you round, and you can already see, scurrying from their little village,
a number of these tanned, coppery-colored cobalts
come running around, but they are wearing
warm weather gear, and that's the other thing,
is it's summer, you're in the Suncrest Isles,
it is blazing hot out here.
It is tropics level, quite high humidity as well.
So these cobbles have like sarongs,
or like little skirts on and things like that.
They wear like sandals, they don't have like boots
or anything like that.
And they sort of come up and you can see they sort of like,
who, who goes there, who's there?
Oh, it's Mastrobs, it's young Mastrobsidious.
Oh, marvelous, marvelous, oh it's been so long. They kind of scurry up and they make their way andidius. Oh, marvelous, marvelous. Oh, it's been so long.
They kind of scurry up and they make their way
and they're just like, hello, hello, welcome.
Welcome, everyone, welcome.
They sort of bow their heads.
You are here to, oh, Young Master Obsidius,
you are here to speak with the Lord?
Yes, we are indeed.
My companions and I need to speak with him rather urgently.
Oh, well, we will try and rouse him, he is sleeping,
but we will do our best, we will bring you in.
Very good, very good.
Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.
And they sort of scurry off.
And they bring over as well, like a couple of them
bring over, like you can see they kind of scurry out
the huts and they have like drinks, like cold drinks,
and they use little cantrips
like ray of frost and they like,
a drink, a drink, it's very warm,
stay hydrated, stay hydrated.
Thank you, he's got his sunglasses down.
Yeah, it's, for Ophelia this is like oppressively hot
and oppressively bright.
Grub's holding the drink to his head.
Yeah.
He's malting.
Yeah.
Not malting, he's like, all his mane is just...
It is, and well, it's humid as well,
so it's like frizzing up something rotten as well.
Tails drooping a bit.
Yeah.
Yeah, I think the only one who's probably
very comfortable is Xanthias.
This is like, yeah.
Yeah, this is great.
Warm weather, no problem.
Yeah, I've got that fire resistance, I'm fine.
Which is good, because I couldn't take my shirt off if I wanted to.
It's true.
Sun's out, guns stale.
Although it does keep happening.
It happens an awful lot.
It's okay, I can mend this one now, it's fine.
Which I have done, by the way, just for clarification.
It's not just a crime deal.
It's kind of loose, yeah.
The cobbles will say like,
oh well, young master Obsidius,
if you wouldn't mind, he hasn't shaped the tower
for a new entrance yet, so would you mind taking
the roof entrance and we will take your companions up
through our entrance, if that is all right.
And he will say, very well.
He will sort of look in Xanthas' direction
and then look at Gruff.
We will be separated only a moment.
But I will see you inside.
And you see him take a step back
as he transforms into his draconic form.
And then takes up into the air
and begins to fly up into the main entrance.
Oh, wow.
Dragons.
Ooh!
Ooh!
Did I hear that?
Did I hear that?
He's on an island, guys.
Like, is he gonna go?
I go around the full circle and I'm like, oh.
Oh.
The kobolds here, who I actually realized
I didn't actually come up with their names.
These guys would be.
Coco Cabana.
Damn it, I'm gonna struggle not to have that in my head now.
This one's Pina, this one's Collada.
Pina.
Yeah, maybe Pina. Margarida.
They are the Karakoro clan.
Karakoro, Karakoro.
Karakoros.
Karakoros, nice.
Yeah, and they have individual names as well,
but yeah, they introduce themselves as the Karakoro clan.
What did you mean by he shapes the tower?
Oh, well, our master, Skaratalos,
has been meaning to expand the island
and add entrances for Il'kyr and things like that to come in,
but he's quite forgetful,
and sometimes he just doesn't want to do things.
You know, sometimes he wants to do it,
but then he just can't,
and we just sort of let him get away with it, really, because he's quite
old. It's understandable, really.
Yes, yes. But it's only really when we have to bring in supplies, which these
days is very rare. He has everything he needs up there.
And if he needs something that desperately, well, he just sort of magics it
when he needs to anyway.
Does he get many visitors?
Now and then, I'll be honest.
It's been a long time, at least a year or more,
since we've really seen anyone.
Young Master Obsidius comes by sometimes to check in
or ask matters of research.
Sometimes some of the other Bronze Dragon hosts
send somebody over to inquire.
They're always petitioning him, saying,
please come back, we want you to, you know, we need to think of,
you would make an excellent advisor to the Arts Dragon,
and, you know, we always have to send them off,
our Master's not very interested in it.
But yes, it's very rare, I must say.
You must be quite the privileged guests
of Young Master Obsidius.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Well, hopefully, hopefully he's in good spirits
for our arrival.
Yes, yes, I imagine so, yes.
Was that an actual hesitation on his part?
No, that was me writing this cobalt's name down.
Okay, because I was almost teasing the idea of,
is this an easily enraged kind of dragon?
No, they're sort of like, no, yes,
the only difficulty will be rousing him.
It's very hard to get him to wake up these days.
You know, once a dragon reaches a certain age,
they're very difficult to rouse from their slumber
until they want to.
And well, our lord does like sleeping in.
I think it's been, what, a week and a half now?
A week and a half.
Oh, yes.
I'm not that bad.
What kind of things normally rouse him?
What does he enjoy?
Well, the truth is, often we just let him sleep
until he wants to get up.
But in an emergency, well, we've sent the chefs off.
They're going to cook his favorite meal, roasted dolphin.
We'll fetch that up.
We use a lot of different herbs and spices
to sort of really make it pungent.
And then sometimes music will work as well.
He loves his music.
Oh.
Yes.
Really?
Yes, yes.
Oh, you're a musician.
I see you carry an instrument.
I am.
I try.
Oh, well, marvelous.
Perhaps you can help us then if the dolphin isn't working.
He's very good.
The dolphin?
Yes, that's his favorite food.
Oh, I thought you meant the dolphin's going to
perform some music.
That would be rather silly.
That would be funny. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha know. They take you up, and you can see outside the tower,
there's like a little staircase that kind of spirals up.
And you guys go up like several floors.
These cobbles take you all the way up.
All the way up, okay.
Yeah, this is our entrance, this is what we use.
Oh, we're not using the stairs, I can just...
Yeah, you can just do-do-do-do-do.
Okay, so up there.
Okay, thank you.
But they lead you to a cobble-sized door, so Rowan, you're gonna have todo-do-do-do. Okay, stop there. Okay, thank you. But they lead you to a cobalt-sized door,
so Rowan, you're gonna have to really squeeze to get in it.
You don't have any small spells, do you?
No, no, we don't. We're not.
We've got a few cantrips and things like that,
but I'm afraid we're not really spellcasters ourselves.
All right, I'll do some stretches first.
Well, if we can fetch some grease to help grease you in.
I'm okay.
Okay.
Did I hear Rowan and grease? I'm coming back down.
But yeah, you led to this. Rowan, you do do it, but it's pretty dicey at one point.
Alright, I'm gonna get through it.
Because then also the rooms beyond are also cobalt-sized rooms, at least in this armor.
Oh, it gets smaller.
So you have to army crawl your way
through some of these rooms.
Solid Snake.
Yeah, like.
Which I'm for.
But you are eventually, you all manage to squeeze
your way through, and even Xanthius and Ophelia,
you're definitely hunched over.
But eventually you come out of another one
of these cobalt-sized doors
into an enormous cavernous chamber.
And there's almost a sense here of it being like
a big grown-up playroom,
because you can see that there are like tables,
like massive tables covered in games.
You can see that there is just a pile of cushions
next to a large round window
that just are laid on the floor.
And then there are just like books half open everywhere.
You can see that there are half finished
like huge chalice drinks just kind of scattered around.
Nothing you realize by the way
is for like humanoid dragon proportions.
Everything is dragon proportions.
So like there is a chess board on a massive table,
but it's enormous that you would have to physically
pick up the pieces with both hands and things like that.
There is a table with a Dragon Ante card game,
but the cards are like enormous oversized cards
and things like that.
You also notice that there are plenty of magical servants
and things like floating lights.
You can see that there are magical creations
that are like tidying up or moving things around
as everything, and everything is painted
in quite bold colors as well.
The walls are almost like a night blue
with golden stars kind of painted all over them.
It's quite eclectic,
but you are kind of taken inside this giant games room
and the little cobble that you've been speaking to,
who is Tana Karakoro,
Tana Karakoro will basically say to you like,
ah, now we could leave you here whilst we try and rouse the master or we could take you up say to you like, ah, now, we could leave you here
whilst we try and rouse the master,
or we could take you up there if you are a musician.
It may be quite useful to have you on hand.
I'm willing to help.
Are there any more small doors?
Oh, no, it's all big from here on in.
This is all for the master now, so.
I'm more than happy to lend a hand
if you think it would help.
Marvelous, oh, wonderful.
Well, just accompanyies over here,
and she leads you to what appears to just be like
a disk of air hovering a few inches off the floor,
and you see Tana, she hops onto it,
sort of scoots over and it's like, come on, come on,
and sort of gestures for you to follow,
as you basically end up standing on nothing,
and it begins to levitate and leading you up into the tower.
Somehow feels worse than a teleport.
As it takes you up into the next floor,
the next kind of level of it,
you find yourselves in an enormous,
almost sultan-like chamber.
There are silks draped from the ceiling,
huge cushions, like dragon-sized cushions everywhere.
There's a heady kind of parfume scent everywhere,
and lying in the middle of this room,
and you can see that there's probably more floors
up above, and in fact that's where you think
the observatory is, but lying in the middle
of this enormous changer is a huge,
I mean gargantuan bronze dragon sleeping.
His horns almost form like an arch,
and you can see that there is a glowing rune
in between his horns, and in fact,
smaller runes almost spill off of it like rain,
and then fade away.
Huge whiskers, like catfish whiskers, like droop down,
and as he breathes in,
the whiskers kind of like wave to the side.
And you can see his enormous belly rising and falling
as his tail kind of curls around,
gently swaying to and fro as well,
slithering around on the floor like an enormous snake.
You can see that he has fins, frills,
kind of like some of the Metallix dragons have
all along his arms, these huge claws.
And he's also wearing, not clothing,
but he has giant necklaces or almost strips of cloth,
reminiscent of a mage's robe,
but imagine just chunks of it
rather than it being a full garment.
You know, wraps around his like forearms
with a very mystical looking bracer and things like that.
And he's just, rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr a roasted dolphin smothered in herbs and flowers and they're wafting it, very Monster Hunter,
like the Palicos in Monster Hunter,
they're wafting it in front of his face
and it seems to be having no effect.
You see the bronze, he's like,
Tanner, it's not working!
As they sort of gestured to him.
Hope he doesn't sleep twitches.
From above, a very humanoid Obsidius
just levitates himself down and joins you.
I see that he is sleeping.
Well, Tana suggested there would be a way to rouse them,
but I think Rowan, do you have a song for this or?
No, but I can try something, I guess.
See what comes to mind.
That seems like a good idea.
I am no musician.
All right.
Yeah, he'll get out Sostenuto.
Sure.
And then Bartek inspire,
he can't Bartek inspire himself.
He can, I think.
Can I?
Yeah, I think so.
I think it's just a reaction
to a creature making an ability.
Can't remember.
I'll take that as gospel.
Sure, I'll check it after.
Great, I bardic inspire myself.
Okay, performance check please.
Okey dokey.
That's an eight.
There's no fate, but plus nine, so that's 17.
17, and then you get a bardic and spoon on top?
Yeah.
Yeah, boing.
Four.
So, 21.
Yeah.
Yeah.
We get it, you're a tired man.
We know you got a lot of stuff going on.
What kind of music are you playing?
Like what song does Rowan play?
So I think it would begin as an ambiance.
Very soft.
You know, in a ballroom where you would have
pre-dance music, accoutrement music
that's just filling the room.
Just gentle, filling the room.
It's background, so it allows people to converse.
And I realized that that is, I slowly build that
into something of more of a rousing...
Yeah.
Kind of like a beat, yeah, like a bassy kind of like...
I start like hitting the sostenuto, like a drum,
and slapping the strings a little bit.
And that's always been sostenuto,
like the music is almost amplified,
like it sounds way louder than it should. Like a lute been Sosnuto, the music is almost amplified,
it sounds way louder than it should.
A lute shouldn't be able to make the sound of a drum,
yet when Rowan bashes it, it sounds like a drum.
And so eventually, and you see it begins
just one claw of this enormous gargantuan,
gold dragon is tapping out the beat.
And then eventually you get a Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr rrr rrr rrr rrr r r r Scarametal's eyes glitter. They're like pearlescent, and there is no slit to them.
They're just pure blocks of color.
There's a faint lavender kind of tint to it,
but they just glitter as they open.
Ah, marvelous music, but not tanner
or the other's usual style. It reminds me of the songs of giants.
Remember, they are war drums.
Hmm, looks like giants would be not right here.
And you see it stretches, almost like a cat.
He like stretches his back as you see this almost frill
and all those runes glow brighter now,
almost, you know, bright light,
almost setting like a magical light around his head.
As the runes continue to spill down his back
and you see all the spines he stretches out.
and you see all the spines he stretches out. Ah, ah, young master of Sidious,
it has been some time since you have visited me,
and who are these young mortals
that you have brought before me?
I think I would get down to almost one knee
to sort of almost bow to him.
Hmm. Second Magister of the Academy, I think I would get down to almost one knee, to sort of almost bow to him.
Hmm.
Second Magister of the Academy, Scaratallos.
Oh, he smiled like this big,
and you see like it's just rows of teeth,
some of which are broken and shattered,
but not grown back properly, but there's,
oh, you do me a great justice, my young friend.
But that title no longer applies to me.
I gave up that position,
but it is nice to remember the good old days.
Ho, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho.
Well, I am Xanthias Oragon,
and I am winning Obsidius on an emergency summons, I'm afraid.
Ah, then an urgent and serious matter is it. Oragon! I remember that name of host, Oragon. Of Gilderoy. Yes, of course. Yes.
You must, whose son are you, young man?
I remember teaching an Oregon many, many centuries ago. That couldn't be your father, could it?
I'm afraid I don't know too much about my father,
but maybe Oregonius?
Oregonius, no, no, he was but a boy.
No, it would have been your grandfather then.
See.
Yes, quite an apt student.
Oh, interesting.
Yeah, whatever anyone else wants to do.
And who else do we have here?
Please introduce yourself.
Have my family, have my cobbles,
offer you refreshments.
Oh, they have, you're a great lord.
Ah, good, good.
I am Sister Ophelia de la Rosa of the House of Blood.
I have come all the way from Osseus.
An Ossian!
And he will speak in Ossian. He will say to you like,
I welcome you to my humble home,
daughter of blood and bone.
Please, you are a welcomed guest here, have no fear.
Ophelia will bow deeply and speak back in Ossian.
Your welcome is greatly appreciated. He nods his head.
Pleasure.
Your Draconic Majesty.
The musician.
That's me.
Sorry about the giant music, I appreciate that.
No, it is, my feud with the giants was long ago
and peace has been made since.
It is nostalgic to remember some of their drums.
Great, because that just kinda came out.
I'm Rowan.
Hello?
That's all I am.
Ah, I'm sure there is far more to you, my mysterious friend.
But we will get to that.
A pleasure, you are most welcome here.
Thank you.
What about this delightful little one?
Hi, I'm your Draconic Majesty.
I'm Daisy Thistleheart.
It's a pleasure to meet you.
Daisy Thistleheart, a lovely little name.
Welcome, my dear, welcome.
I hope you enjoy the climate of the Suncrest Isles.
It's lovely here.
It is, I enjoy it very much.
The feeling of the sun on one's scales.
It is good to feel warm when you are old.
And what about you, my frozen, my frosty friend?
Gruff will quickly get down on one knee.
Your Draconic Majesty, hello.
My name is Gruffydd of Tremorro, Knight Erend of the Order of the Loyal House.
Knight Erend, the Loyal Hounds. Knight Errant, the Loyal Hounds.
I must admit, Ser Gruffydd,
I am not so familiar with the Knightly Orders.
What is the mission of yours?
We are an order of older fellows.
Older?
But you are barely was. 50, 40?
I am considered older to the mortals.
I suppose, yes.
Certainly to these young whipsnappers round here. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha But yes, we protect the meek and firm and the vulnerable.
We guide, we walk with them, we bring comfort to them.
Now that sounds like a marvelous nightly order.
Far too many concerned with glory and quests and slaying of monsters.
Not nearly enough to looking to the wisdom of the elders and protecting those in need.
A very, a very noble endeavor.
Thank you, my lord.
You're most welcome.
Now you speak of urgent business.
I kind of like look to Obsidius.
Is he expecting us to talk here or is...
Obsidius will look at you
and will say...
So I'm happy to, it's just...
Yeah, I think what he will say is like,
Master, it has been some time.
I feel it is best if I allow these companions of mine
to explain the scenario
and to share with you what information you can.
But I should warn you, Master, it is dire, dire news.
It concerns Crownsteel and Sovereign.
I know that you have been keeping an eye on the Crown.
I know that you've not always agreed
with my scholarly pursuits, but this is important.
Master Scowtow, please, we are in desperate need for your counsel.
I am in desperate need for your counsel.
Dire for young master obsidius to sound so humble.
Quite the arrogant student, I should add.
Always causing trouble and fights for the other dragon.
But a talented mage and a determined one.
So, which of you wishes to tell me of this dire situation?
You there, son of Oragon?
Me indeed, Master Scaratolos.
We are looking for your wisdom on your expertise
of the crown and crown steel for a development has been made.
I hold within my person and within your presence
some crown steel of quite high purity.
Embedded within my chest, Master.
It's curious that I cannot sense it.
Normally, the corruption, I would have felt it by now,
of such impurity.
May I see it?
Will you, I know you fought against it in the past,
but I fear for the dragon's temptation,
if I were to show it to you.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.
Okay.
You, you, you Elka, you'll make me laugh.
My boy, if I wished to be taken in by Crownsteel,
I would have given in 400 years ago,
and I would have done great damage to this world.
Believe me, my days have been tempted by sovereigns glint.
A long past.
Good, okay.
Yeah, in that case I'll stand and,
same as I did before, sort of cut along the front of the
Reveal it. Shirt and yeah.
He never takes humanoid form, by the way.
Like he is dragging the whole time
you're having this conversation,
and he brings his enormous face down towards you.
I'm like, here's.
Put a hand up and say,
and I think Obsidius might even like,
try not to get too close.
It's been reacting in a strange way recently. That is interesting to know.
Curious, these runes upon your body,
are you aware that they are awfully similar
to the runes that we bronze dragons carry?
I had no idea.
Yes, every bronze dragon is born with arcane runes
that manifest around them.
These are similar, that different.
Perhaps there is some bronze dragon lineage
within your line somewhere.
Curious.
They are doing a marvelous job
of keeping the alteration Field at bay.
It is keeping it within your body.
That must have manifested in some mutation.
Well, it appeared when the Crownsteel First
was stabbed into me.
Yes, I can see it is awfully close to your heart.
But seem to have awoken some kind of innate...
magic within me.
In terms of bronze dragon lineage, I have no idea.
But as you can see, the glow from the crown steel is new.
It's...
I don't know what necessarily might have awoken it,
but there's...
We as a team of adventurers have recently been delving
in some proto-Magi vaults.
Oh.
And one of the proto-Magi wanted to try to
and one of the proto-magi I wanted to try to
remove it from me and then aglow
and then unfortunately its demise. There is far more to it than that, Master.
I was shown a vision.
Would you like me to show it again?
Would that be helpful too?
Yes, Daisy, I think that that would be wise.
Master, I should, this one, Daisy, has a friend.
Sorry.
A planar friend.
They're very nice.
But they will be able to show you what was witnessed
during this incident with Xanthias.
Today we'll be able to show you what was witnessed during this incident with Xanthias.
Plain our friend, a celestial, a deva perhaps,
I have never met one myself,
but I have read the studies of them.
So you bear a celestial soul within you, my young girl.
Curious.
They saved me when I was just very, very small.
Mm, fascinating.
Would I, may I speak with them?
Yes.
Oh, that would be marvelous.
I'll just connect if that's okay.
Yes, please.
I will disable my mental defenses.
A moment, please.
Okay.
And you see one of his claws twitches
and some sort of spell as he seems to deactivate
or do something.
He's like, now you may proceed.
It would have been rather dangerous
for you to have attempted that before.
Would anyone else like to see?
I've already seen it.
I'd like to see.
Would, not yet, okay.
If you would, I would like to see it again as well.
Of course.
I'll include.
Obsidius, Rowan, Ophelia, and then Scaratallos.
Okay, you show, and Scaratallos,
as sort of you open up this communication,
on sort of none of you hear this,
because it's always through Daisy,
it's like a switchboard, right?
But Scaratallos would be like,
hello, Celestial, are you there?
I'll tell, I will say to Nim.
Nim can hear it, yeah.
Go ahead.
Hello there, Lord Dragon.
Fascinating, I have spoken with some of your kind before, but it is always a pleasure
to make one who is purposely left behind the Eternal War sort out the comfort of the material
plane. Yes, I had grown very weary of battle and sought freedom. And I wish that Daisy had been older before.
I made the partnership, but she needed me.
And I needed her.
Yes, a symbiosis.
Fascinating indeed.
What is your name?
Well, Daisy prefers to call me Nim,
but my celestial name is Serenanim.
Pleasure, Serenanim.
Please show me what you have seen.
And with that, sort of, you all now see
the same vision I described before.
To his credit, Staratalos, totally calm,
does not react to any of it.
You can see Obsidius, kind of his claws
digging into his palms as he's watching it,
still clearly agitated, seeing what he's seeing.
But Skaratalos, completely unfazed, perhaps,
or maybe you just can't read his draconic visage.
Oh, curious.
Quite the predicament.
Obsidious, this, I think that this confirms my fears.
The crown is weakening slowly.
No immediate threat, but the fact that sovereign
is able to send out a portion of their will.
Curious.
I wonder if the crown steel, this pure crown steel,
must be acting as something of a transceiver.
It is strengthening Sovereign's ability
to reach out from beyond the crown.
How interesting.
I think the Sovereign is also
communicating with me as well.
Yes.
Sending messages, giving me commands that...
I'm able to...
Not magical commands.
Not yet.
Well, not yet, but sending me to Kelskaaris.
Not yet, but sending me to Chelskaris,
and also ominous warnings that the Sovereign will return.
There is something else, my master.
I extracted a similar high-purity Shard of Crownste steel from someone else.
It was also glowing like the one in Xanthias. I do not believe that Xanthias is the only one
that this will affect.
It seems to react when it's trying to defend.
That would make sense.
Like a parasite reacting to a vaccine or cure.
It is trying to protect itself.
Sovereign is trying to preserve these vessels.
But if that same command is being sent out to
any that may be corrupted by the purest Crownsteel,
could Cal'scarus then be in danger?
I doubt this Crownsteel you bear, young Master Oragon, is exceptional.
It is very rare to find crown still of this purity.
I do not believe that there is a significant amount of this high-grade crown still around.
But a threat, yes. Perhaps not an immediate one or a world-ending one,
but still a threat.
A threat that would need to be reported to, oh.
A threat that would need, I suppose they,
you see sort of his memory,
like he's almost getting caught up in something.
Yes, watch out, no, they don't exist anymore, do they?
They were disbanded. My apologies.
Sometimes it is difficult to remember the current state of things versus my memories.
But who would have taken over Watchtower's responsibilities?
I don't know.
Who were the Watchtower?
Oh, I suppose there's no harm in telling you now. They are disbanded.
My mother, the Dragon Empress,
she established an organization.
It began a long, long time ago as an Order of Knights,
the Order of the Watchtower.
And it was their duty to look out and within
and to protect Ilmera and the Empire from threats.
But as you mortals or your lives are so very short that it evolved.
A place of a public knightly order, it began to hamper its ability to investigate threats within the Empire.
And after the Oriat Insurrection, they decided a more covert system would work better.
And it became an organization based within Kelskaris, but spread across the Empire,
a sort of intelligence unit
that reported directly to the Empress herself.
Many of the Archdragons and other dragons did not like this.
They did not like the fact that there were Il'kyr,
who could effectively ignore their orders
and report only to the Empress.
They did not like the favor she placed upon them.
So when Mother died, Watchtower was disbanded.
Its agents, and scattered, resumed back to the normal world, I suppose.
But they would have once been people to report this to.
It was their duty to watch out for these sorts of threats.
I suppose there is that religious order,
the order of the eclipse or something like that.
I was never one for your mortal faith.
I find it a little, a little gauche.
Fair enough.
But perhaps they could help you,
although zealot in their pursuit, I would worry about them acting without thinking.
You would need a rather shrewd member of it, I think, to help manage this properly.
But a threat, yes, it is.
Imagine it, these transceivers. I believe that you were not the only one being spoken to, Xanthias, by Sovereign.
But there is a chance.
You say that you have been receiving commands, suggestions.
Direction, more than anything.
I fear that as Sovereign grows more desperate,
they will not be guidance, but orders orders and perhaps if you resist those orders
They may not let you say no
Imagine almost
slivers of sovereigns power tiny pieces of a god
Infusing your body taking control
Monarchs I suppose we could call them.
But is it resistible?
It seems like there's a way to block this control
in some way.
Block the control, you say?
If I may, your draconic lordship, sir.
Yes.
To interrupt, I communed with Althea,
and she was, I was privileged enough
to receive word from her.
I asked, can Sovereign's influence be blocked
from a person, and she answered yes.
It is good, Obsidius,
that you have brought this problem to me.
I believe it is possible, yes.
Easy, no, but possible.
There is a spell,
spell that prevents planar entities
from taking over your mind,
protecting you against their influence.
It is a rather common and low energy spell.
Sovereign, however, is not just some planar creature.
Sovereign is not some common devil or angel or fey.
Sovereign, by my mother's reckoning
and by what we have learned from the other goddesses,
and even my own research has led me to believe Sovereign is made of energy from all of the
planar realms.
Now one spell to protect against planar creatures, not enough.
Even multiple castings of the spell would not be enough.
Sovereign is a power of immense,
of immense power, of immense energy.
However, I believe that I could craft something.
It would be best fashioned into an object,
a necklace or a ring or a circlet or some such,
but it would require energy, essence,
from all of the planar realms.
The Feywield, the Lucent Peaks, the Twin Pits,
the Primal Isles, the Grey Lands,
the Precept Coil and the Howling Sea, all of them.
An essence from each.
Fused into an object, a new spell,
a spell I create, for it needs to be subtle.
You say that this reaction against this creature
in the vault, it occurred when they tried to tamper
with the crown steel.
Yes, but it almost occurred again with Obsidius.
I attempted a spell on Xanthius,
that of my own creation, master.
A spell that would track him and his location,
but also forewarn me should he make use
of the crown steels properties.
Oh, Obsidius, that's a little much even for you, isn't it?
Rather forceful.
Sure you could have just asked the young man
to keep you appraised.
Yes, Master, but given the incidents,
I felt it proper to keep a closer eye on him.
Well, this creation of mine, it would be subtle.
It would not affect the Crown Steel directly,
but affect you.
It would be a protection for your mind, your body,
enough at least to prevent Sovereign from taking control.
Not enough to resolve the greater problem,
but enough to protect you.
Now, removing the Crownsteel.
Had you come to me before this development,
I think I could have removed it.
But we are where we are.
My fear is that should I attempt to remove it,
it would trigger a similar response.
I will consider what can be done.
I imagine that it will take a power even greater than mine
to undo what has been done to you.
But still, I believe that there is always a path forward.
Magic is the greatest gift we were ever given.
It allows us to do incredible things.
To allow the Proto Magi to do even greater.
But we can still make use of it.
It is a gift only the Material Plane can truly appreciate.
There is a spell I can cast that will protect you
for 24 hours, a very powerful spell.
However, my fear is should I cast it upon you,
it would give sovereign warning that we are meddling
in his communication, in their communication with you.
So I am loathe to do it unless you deem it necessary.
I see, okay.
But if you were to bring me an essence
from each of the planar realms,
I would be able to craft something
that I think will help your friend.
And that would give us time.
But, be beyond the lookout,
if there are others who bear this pure crown steel,
I do not believe it will be long before Sovereign tries
to assert their dominance over them.
These monarchs might become a greater problem,
perhaps not for you, but perhaps for other adventurers
or other places around the Empire.
Thank you.
Monarch.
You are most welcome, Sister Ophelia of the House of Blood.
Now, whilst you are here, I would like to inquire on you.
I have many questions about your homeland,
as well as your religious icon, the Grey Father.
It'll do me a great service to update you on everything I know.
Yes, I would greatly appreciate this, and I would very much like to speak with your friend,
Nimmoor, as well.
Of course.
Yes, very good. Oh, it has been so long since a problem
has taxed my great mind.
Oh, it makes me feel like a student again.
Oh.
He certainly does tax my mind.
Mm.
Mm-hmm.
Still.
Do you require, now, what is your plan?
Do you know where you can begin to search
for these essences? Oh, well. what is your plan? Do you know where you can begin to search for these essences?
Oh, well.
What defines an essence?
An essence, an excellent question, Sister Ophelia.
It is a rather academical matter, but an essence is,
think of it as a concentration of a plane's magical being,
condensed into an object, or sometimes into a material.
Think of it like an ore from the Earth.
Would something like this work?
Should the Luxon shard?
Yes, now.
It is in many pieces. This would be perfect.
Luxon is a material.
It is infused with the energy of the Lucent Peaks.
It is an essence of that place,
but Luxon requires delicate work.
It needs to be shaped.
I would need it formed into a band
to form a part of whatever object we are using.
And I, even I, do not have the knowledge
of how to we are using. And I, even I, do not have the knowledge of how to work Lux in it.
It is a very closely guarded secret
of the Celestial people, of the Celestial Planes.
But were you able to work that, even a small piece of it,
into a worked material that I can work with?
That would provide us the energy of the Lucent Peaks, indeed.
We also have the Freeti Gauntlet.
So that's another. Demon gun.
And potentially the demon gun.
I've also got a bar of felite from Diablos.
I have Feyweld Herbs.
The herbs, I do not imagine, will be enough.
It would need to be something far more magical.
You say it may be the case with this iron as well.
Felite is a material, yes, but it is not quite magical enough to be something far more magical. You say, it may be the case with this iron as well. Felite is a material, yes,
but it is not quite magical enough to be an essence.
What is this, a demon gun?
What's in the gun?
Yes, we encountered some demonic creatures
in defense of Ash and Rest
and acquired one of their weapons.
May I see it?
I'm afraid, unless I have it on me.
I think I always said that I leave it in the workshop.
Okay, it's in the workshop then.
Sorry to say, but it's currently in Ashenrest,
alongside the Efrite Gauntlet.
That would be a problem.
But they would, the Efrite Gauntlet,
that sounds like an essence of the Primal Isles.
That would certainly be considerable.
So we do have a strong start on
at least some of these materials, but
obtaining the others, I mean, it would be a slow process.
Well, you better get to it then.
I better get to it.
Allow me to give you a little something.
And he will point up, no, in fact,
he'd ask one of the cobbles to go and fetch it.
A scroll, a teleportation scroll, if you would please.
And Tana runs off and comes back
carrying a fucking enormous roll.
He's like, oh, that's not very functional,
and he shrinks it down, he just casts a scroll,
and he hands it to you, Xanthias.
This will bring you directly here.
Oh, thank you, Xantheus, this will bring you directly here. Oh, thank you.
Okay, yes.
So you have a scroll of teleport
but it's fixed to this location.
How do we leave this place?
Oh, Obsidius, I'm afraid that my magical energy
is expired, master, I cannot cast that spell until tomorrow.
Oh, well, I could send you back on your way,
if that is where you're needed,
or is there somewhere else you would rather go?
I've visited most of the Empire.
I'm familiar with most of it.
I can get you close by.
Well, thankfully, our previous destination
before things changed was Wave Meat.
Wave Meat, not Wave Quack.
Wonderful city, oh, it was I, your beautiful place.
I like to go and enjoy the view of the sea there.
Could we actually see it from outside when we were there?
No. Okay.
We are just way out.
Okay, fair enough.
You're like where the Suncrest is,
because also where WaveMe is,
there's like a chain of islands,
loads of little tiny ones and everything else.
You don't know this, but you're tucked on the far tip
right around the corner, basically.
You are probably the farthest island out from the coast.
Okay, cool. gnarly.
But yeah, but with that, because you might also,
if you do want to ask any questions to Scarra Talos
or anything like that, or if you want to speak to him,
we can save that for next time.
Yeah.
But that is gonna be it for today's episode.
Except there's one last thing.
Oh goody.
You guys level up!
Yay!
Definitely not because I already thought you were level eight.
I did wonder about that.
Were we meant to get this from the vault?
No, I just thought you were level eight.
Oh, I see.
I'm like, well, I might as well make him level eight, eh?
Level eight, what does that give us?
Ability score improvement, or feat, I believe.
Very cool, I love feat.
But yes, so you guys level up,
we can handle that off screen,
but that is it for today's episode of Hyrule Ease.
Very nice, what a spicy boy.
Well, a spicy first half,
and then it got nice and calm, I think.
Yeah, we needed that.
We needed it.
I need a beach episode.
I can tell you that, mate.
You're getting them.
But with a nice big quest to go and pursue as well.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
One that you've already got some good progress on, so.
Yeah, that's good.
Good stuff.
All righty.
All right, everybody, we will see you next time.
Take care.
Bye-bye, we love you.
Bye-bye, bye-bye.
See you next time.
Bye-bye.
Bye-bye.
