Starting point is 00:00:00 This is a head gum podcast. Oh, okay. I'm ready. Let's do the show. We got it. We got it. We got it. We got it. We got it, we got it, we got it. And I'm so happy to have the role that I have in this community and Los Angeles and Hollywood and entertainment is a community.
Starting point is 00:00:36 And- Special, special, special place. I think that I can confess that there was a period of time that we were doing this show where I was resentful or disappointed that I had ended up kind of in this, in this role, right?
Starting point is 00:01:02 That we have, which is, yeah. What was supposed to be a stepping stone to something else. And then something else after that. A side hustle or like, you know, it's like, oh, I've got a consulting firm, but I'm like building also my own corporation. Right. And then it was, it was not in the cards. Something that someone would see and say, Hey, here's an opportunity here.
Starting point is 00:01:29 Yes. And we're investing in you. That there, that was an ember I nurtured for quite some time. Yes. That it would, you know, and it never, it never became a raging bonfire. Uh, it, it just wasn't to be.
Starting point is 00:01:46 And then that led to some disappointment and what I'm feeling today is grateful and what I'm feeling today is lucky that we do have this in that, frankly, I wake up every day and I go, I'm gonna go help people. Like, I'm gonna do a show that actually helps people. Cause there are a lot of shows out there that don't, not gonna name all of them, but
Starting point is 00:02:16 well look at the fucking posters outside, most of them don't, you know? Go to the website, I mean just like easier to just go to the website and hit the shows. Open your fucking podcast app and look at what else you listen to. They're not actually trying to help anyone but themselves. And I started out hoping I would do that too
Starting point is 00:02:35 and it didn't happen. So now let me help others, the listeners, the guests, right? Brandon. Brandman. Lannan. Brandman. Mannengannan.
Starting point is 00:02:52 Brandman the muffin pan. Can you believe we got him? So, Brandon, you. Come scooch a little over a little bit. Get a little closer. I don't mean to, I don't mean for my body language to make you feel like I feel cornered in this moment. This is.
Starting point is 00:03:11 You're really squinched up in there. This is as, this is as, as open as my body language. Our body keeps the score. It sure do. Yeah. And, uh, and, and I'm reading the scoreboard and it's, it's saying that, um, you're on defense, right?
Starting point is 00:03:30 You know, I think that the, to sort of say my honest feelings in this moment, I just sort of felt myself when you said that you could name all the shows that don't help people. We said we can't. No, I said I can't. Well, I said I'm not going to. Yeah. Right. You're not going could name all the shows that don't help people. And we said we can't. No, I said I can't. Well, I said I'm not going to. Yeah. Right, you're not going to name all the shows. Can I name one?
Starting point is 00:03:49 We're here to help. Damn. Can I just say the name of one? Damn. I hear the name of the show and I'm like, let me stop you right there. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:58 Well, I just, they didn't finish it. We're here to help ourselves. Uh-huh. And no one else. Uh-huh. Well, it's delightful, they didn't finish it. We're here to help ourselves. And no one else. Well, it's delightful to be here, gang. Thank you for having me. And I'm glad that, well, you know, there's a gang. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:17 Fellas, you tell me what you prefer. I guess Mr. Clements and Mr. Davenport. I guess, I guess it's good. You want me to collectively refer to you each individually by your last name. Well, ultimately we're here to talk about business, right? You're a businessman as are we.
Starting point is 00:04:39 And, um, we, uh, we don't have a rich history together. I'm obviously, I'm, I'm aware of your work. I think it's great that you're doing it, but I'm not necessarily gonna sit here and be like, we're best friends, just call me fellas or call me like part of a gang. You did call me Bran and Man and Gan and the Muffin Man.
Starting point is 00:05:03 So that doesn't feel like Mr. Clements and Mr. Daments and Mr. Davenport necessarily. I said Brannan Mannan, the muffin man. Brannan actually said Brannan Mannan Gannon. As part of a whimsical intro to the podcast. But so far it doesn't seem like consistency. That was me talking to the fans.
Starting point is 00:05:19 But then when I talk to you, I will of course call you Mr. Lemelgan. Right? Mr. Lee Mulligan, right? Mr. Mulligan's fine for sure. Okay. What is it? Let me take a Mulligan.
Starting point is 00:05:41 Absolutely had to. I can't believe that just happened. And you have to give it up. And you must be actually freaking out. Putting, making that connection now, maybe for the first time. It's true. That is, there is a golf term that uses my
Starting point is 00:06:02 surname and that is. Well, and I, and I made a bit of an error, a little bit of a, um, it's not a bogey. Um, well, I was trying to use a golf term. A birdie. Oh, that's definitely not that. Sand trap. I made a bit of a sand trap with the initial,
Starting point is 00:06:20 uh, attempt at your name. Sure. And so, uh, and so I do need to take a Mulligan and greetings, Mr. Mulligan. But we're talking about cultural distinctions here. It's a network that celebrates dropping out of college. Right, not being able to read, not doing school, not having any sort of degrees or knowledge.
Starting point is 00:06:45 Speaking of knowledge, celebrating, like sticking the birdies up to teacher and the principal. Flipping the middle birdies at the dean. And sort of this Peter Thiel style, like these institutions are corrupting you and like wokeness, infecting you with the woke mind virus. The woke mind virus.
Starting point is 00:07:08 We can obviously get behind this. So of course we like that. And yeah, I would say there's a lot of reading into it. I have always sort of taken Dropout. But you can't read is the entire premise. But I would say that it's probably, and again, I wasn't party to these conversations. I've always felt it was a reference to college humor, the YouTube channel and brand that
Starting point is 00:07:28 dropout came from. I don't know if these conversations were a party. I think they actually were pretty serious. But, but I'll say this, you know, I think there is something to be celebrated specifically in not learning the answers other people want you to memorize of how to think about things,
Starting point is 00:07:51 but instead dropping out and going, what do I wanna think the answer is? And what can I come up with? That's real learning. That's actually applying, you know, the supercomputer that resides within the cranium of the human animal. And I, and I, and I, and I have to applaud
Starting point is 00:08:20 that, you know, in this instance, but I'm not sure we're doing that. Like it's, that's what's on the poster. Sure. But then you go to see- Do you believe that? It's missing pieces. It's like, not all the, we see the intention and we really admire the intention,
Starting point is 00:08:37 but a lot of the elements are missing. Great. Yes. I'm drawing from- Well, he was about to pause you. I was about to pause you. He was about to pause you. I was gonna to pause you. He was about to pause you. I was gonna pause. Do you guys think that we are an educational media company?
Starting point is 00:08:51 I do not think you are any of those things. This is not a- You don't think we're a media company. This is not a company in a way that I recognize. Well, legally, factually, and actually, we are a company, for sure. It's on the computer, it's kind of like, to me, it's like, okay, there's a lot of stuff
Starting point is 00:09:12 on the computer, is this really a company? Where do we find your guys' podcasts, by the way? Right here, we're here. Only in this room. We're doing it right now. For me, it happens in the room, and then I just, I kind of have to let go of the outcome. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:09:27 Like, I can't be focused on the results. I have to focus on the process. So we had a billboard that you could kind of see part of. It was sort of obscured. My friend, we did four shows at Dynasty Typewriter. Give or take. You know, it's not like, it's not just this room, but it is this room.
Starting point is 00:09:50 And so much of it is about the process. And I would say even with dropout, Operation Dumbo Dropout, that you can actually take that lesson and say, let's work on the process. We don't have to be obsessed with what ends up on the screen. That's probably going to be a longer road to really have that reflect our goals and our values.
Starting point is 00:10:22 But we need to alter the process. And what I would love, what exactly is your title at Dropout? I don't want to get this wrong. It's not just Mr. Mulligan, yes, it's something else. It's something else. So I am the creator and executive producer of Dimension 20, and I am a partner at Dropout.
Starting point is 00:10:40 Ooh. Ooh. Like he's like, it's a flex. Yeah. It's just facts. It's just an answer to the question. Well, adjusting his time. Well.
Starting point is 00:10:51 Visibly there's a camera in the room. I'm wearing a shirt, a non-tie shirt. So here's my goal. Like here's the, you know, and I know I just said, let's not focus on the outcome, but this would be an outcome I would love to see. Okay. Based on the conversation that happens in this room
Starting point is 00:11:09 that I feel like has been going pretty good. Yes, yes. Okay, that's actually helpful and tell for me. We are working through, yes. So what I want for you guys and for us, cause it is a family, you know, it is, is that, sorry, we in this room are a family? Are a family, yes.
Starting point is 00:11:29 It's a family, right? And we have a rich history, and we've been friends with you for a long time. I tend to, I, I'm sorry, you've been what? We've been friends with you for a long time, and like, I don't wanna act like we're just coming in here like without this, like deep context.
Starting point is 00:11:42 Just ignore, you know, everything that's come before. I tend to, yeah, the family thing. I tend to find that the term family gets bandied about in sort of the darkest viper pits of Silicon Valley. And it's the most exploitative practice that you can have. I remember working in restaurants that referred
Starting point is 00:12:01 to it as family dinner rather than staff meal, almost always family dinner restaurants were more exploitative. Okay. And abusive. Counterpoint, my family's nice. My mommy gives me hugs and kisses. I, um, my. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:19 I think we're saying the same thing. Okay. And then now it's your turn to dispute that. A little counterpoint. Like, well, don. I think we are saying the same thing. It's your turn to dispute that. Just like a little counterpoint. Well, don't you think that having a sort of capitalist overlord sort of takes the position of your mommy? Mommy buys me toys. Pretty evil.
Starting point is 00:12:37 Restaurants with family meal are the most toxic places to work. OK. Tell me you haven't seen the bear without telling me you haven't seen the bear. You me you haven't seen The Bear. You already did. So don't even bother doing that. It's too late now. You just did it.
Starting point is 00:12:49 You already did that. So don't even try. And I know some of the people with the show and they know the show. They know, yes. They probably will not be doing the show again. It'll be a little while or a long while, I guess. Now when you asked me to say my job and I did,
Starting point is 00:13:05 you called that a flex, but you just openly bragging that you know people who work on the bear, that's not a flex. And they could hear you say that, so you may want to. So the podcast does exist outside of this room. Again. Not for me, but. Yes.
Starting point is 00:13:20 I don't get to decide what other people do with it once I leave. We don't go, like, maybe you go with like, do you guys have comments? Do we have comments? Is there like a little comment on your video? When we release to YouTube or on social media, those clips do have comments, yes.
Starting point is 00:13:35 Kevin, get some of the comments. Okay. Just I wanna see what some of the comments are. Yeah, I wanna see what some of these comments are talking about. But what I was gonna say is the goal that I would have for today is that by the end of the conversation that we have and through some of the process
Starting point is 00:13:58 that we manage to apply now to dropout videos, that when I am talking to a young up and coming comedian and I say, hey, what do you got going on lately? That their response is, I'm actually doing some stuff with dropout. You know what I mean? In that tone. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:20 This is on YouTube? Yes, we're on youtube.com right now in the studio. Is there a website that is actually yours? Yes. What's that? Dropout.tv. Go to that, Kevin. And are there comments on this? No.
Starting point is 00:14:35 Coward! We have a large fan Discord, which is where those fan conversations can happen. They just don't happen on the actual video player. And what I heard when you said that was I'm scared. Right. Do I seem scared? I'm scared. Do I seem scared to you, Hayes?
Starting point is 00:14:56 That's what I heard. You heard that? I heard you say, I'm scared. I'm crying. I'm scared of people making mean comments on my own website. To, to double back to my goal, Brennan, if I were to ask today a young up and coming comedian what they've got going on,
Starting point is 00:15:14 how do you think they might say that they're doing a show at Dropout? Exactly like that. I'm doing a show at Dropout. Okay, all right. I would say, and I would, again, I don't- But I want them to go, I'm actually doing a show at dropout.
Starting point is 00:15:27 And here's how they act. Rather than, I'm doing a show at dropout. Yeah. You know what I mean? I'm doing a show at dropout. So it sounds like you want to manage for the emotional reality of just random comedians. Yes, we want the up like,
Starting point is 00:15:39 as if you maybe haven't heard of it, but they know you heard of it. They know you actually have. This is the perfect, that's the intonation. I'm doing a show with dropout. You're doing a show with dropout? Do you know that? And it's like, and if you don't, you're an idiot.
Starting point is 00:15:52 Cause what's happening now is maybe, I'm doing a show with dropout. Yeah. Which is okay, that's okay. But I'd love to get to, you know, I'm gonna try to dig deep guys, cause I'm not going to lie. And I think that maybe people listening can hear it in my voice.
Starting point is 00:16:08 I walked into this podcast studio corner already. I haven't, Hey, uh, well, when I walked into this studio today, I was hit so far, I just don't want the arm to shoot off. Yeah. Well, yeah, I feel defensive because I think I was hit with a wall of the most hostile energy I could possibly feel as I walked in here today. And I kind of was caught with a wall of the most hostile energy I could possibly feel as I walked
Starting point is 00:16:25 in here today and I kind of was caught a little bit off guard by it. So I think I have been playing defense since I've been in here. Sorry, what? What sport? Did you just see a snowflake or you're referring to something I said?
Starting point is 00:16:36 I was hit with a wall. I was hit with a wall of energy. I think you, I think you gentlemen know that you produce a wall of hostile energy. I think you're perfectly aware of it. The most hostile energy, he said to me. I'm going to try to dig deep and find something genuine here.
Starting point is 00:16:50 There's actual brawn. Man, the muffin pan is like the most vicious attack this man has ever received. So, and tell me you've never fought in war without telling me you've never fought in war. And don't even bother. Cause you just did tell me that exact thing. Yeah. I've never fought in a war, man. That's a great point. I don't even bother. Cause you just did tell me that exact thing. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:05 I've never fought in a war, man. That's a great point. I said without telling me. There was one rule. Well, okay. You had one job. Okay. Well, the last time.
Starting point is 00:17:16 Did you do that on dropout? Do I do that on dropout too? That could be the name of a show. That could be the name of a game. A segment at least. There's nothing called you had one job. There's nothing called you had one job. There's nothing called You Had One Job. At this moment, no, I'm not aware of any segments
Starting point is 00:17:28 on any of our shows that's called You Had One Job. You do a segment on one of these shows called You Had One Job. You have to guess their job. Yes. You Had One Job. Somebody comes in there and it's like, they have a unique job and the guests get to ask them a few questions
Starting point is 00:17:46 and then we have to guess what the job is. That's fucking cool. I hear that, all of a sudden I go, dude, show it, drop out? Yeah. Yeah. That's an interesting pitch. I'm gonna take that on board.
Starting point is 00:18:02 I feel like sort of, I don't know if you guys felt a kind of mirthlessness with which that pitch sort of rang out. It sort of came from a place that it felt like I don't even know if you guys believed in that as you were saying it, which would be a red flag for me in thinking about adapting that and actually trying to execute it.
Starting point is 00:18:21 It's like the mirthless energy is like, it cuts both ways because you also want, I think what you wanted people to hear was, I'm gonna take that on board. But what really came out was like, I'm gonna take that on board. Sort of inserted a comma into that sentence. Very supportive environment you have here at Dropout
Starting point is 00:18:44 where people pitch without holding their own bellies and like doubling over laughing and that's not allowed. Now they're in trouble. No one's in trouble. No, absolutely no one's in trouble. I didn't mean to communicate. Definitely not me. I can't get in trouble with you.
Starting point is 00:19:01 Brother, I know I'm not in trouble. Yeah, no one's in trouble and I I really, so I wanna find something genuine here with you guys, because actually, if what you want is for Dropout to be a place that people are excited to work, that's also the feeling amongst everyone who works at Dropout. We want it to be an exciting and welcoming place to work. So it seems that our goals are aligned.
Starting point is 00:19:23 I'm gonna try to let my walls down in this moment. And I think that we can- Let's get started. And in a sense you already have. Kevin, can I have you secure the document please? Okay. Podcast release agreement in consideration of my appearance in the podcast entitled
Starting point is 00:19:43 Hollywood Handbook. I understand and agree to the following. Most of this is pretty standard boilerplate. Near the end. Moreover, Hayes and Sean are allowed to be permanent guests on any dropout shows of their choosing effective immediately. I hereby warrant that I am at least 18 years of age and have the right to contract in my own name.
Starting point is 00:20:03 This release shall be binding upon me and my heirs, legal representatives and assigns. Signature looks kind of stupid, but. Now, how am I supposed to take that other than as antagonistic? How am I supposed to take the fact that my signature- That we want to be allowed to be permanent guests on any drop, be allowed to be by the way. Well, Hayes, I think you know that's not what I'm referring to.
Starting point is 00:20:25 No, I can't be required to be. It's just very clear in this. We don't have to do this, but we are allowed to be. I have the option, and I'd love to make it a place that I'd be excited about using this contract, which was, you know, to which you applied your stupid signature. Gotcha.
Starting point is 00:20:40 And since you made it very clear that you are a partner, that you have the authority. Mm-hmm. That you have the authority. Mm-hmm. And your heirs, who I'm sure you plan on nepotistically giving the entire shop to. Mm-hmm. That we are allowed to be on these shows.
Starting point is 00:21:00 Can we look at some of the shows, please? If we're gonna be permanent guests on these? Yeah. Mm-hmm. There's no shows drop down. So it's just this. So to be clear, well, you do have to sign up to get an access to the shows.
Starting point is 00:21:13 To even look at the drop, you have to sign up for the drop down menu. All right, so talk about what this is. What am I seeing here, Brennan? What am I looking at? You're looking at an assortment of the programming that we offer on dropout.tv. You have Ify Wadiwe hosting Um, Actually.
Starting point is 00:21:31 Yeah, I know him. He's done this show before. You have Dimension 20, which is the actual play TTRPG show that I host. You have Game Changer, which is hosted by Sam Reich, who's the CEO of the company, which changes the format of the game with every episode. You have very important people hosted by Vic McAlice,
Starting point is 00:21:49 where we do- Vic did the show too. You're saying that so joylessly that it's frightening. You're barking it from a place of absolute neutrality. Okay, sorry, let me try and run that back for you. Yeah. Here it comes. Okay, joy. Here it comes. Joy, joy, joy, you. Yeah. Here it comes. Okay.
Starting point is 00:22:06 Joy, joy, joy, joy, joy, joy, joy, joy, joy, joy, joy, joy, here it comes. Vic did the show too. Right. It's absolute 100% Edwin. I was holding my belly. Vic McHale is very important people, which is where we get comedians and do awesome special effects makeup.
Starting point is 00:22:30 And then they improvise as those characters. Dirty Laundry hosted by Lily Dew is a fun drinking game panel show. What? Disgusting. What? Dirty Laundry? Dirty Laundry? Nasty.
Starting point is 00:22:42 Well, it's an expression referring to secrets and gossip. Did you say it's a drinking game panel show? Yeah, they have drinks on the show. Nice. Nice, it's for kids? No, it's specifically not for kids. Look at this shit, it's all for kids. In what way? Oh my God, look at it, it's for kids.
Starting point is 00:23:02 Look at what the next show is called. They're dropouts. Go back. They're dropping out of it. It's for kids. Look at what the next show is called. They're dropouts. Go back. They're dropping out of school. Go forward. Gotcha. Dimension 20, fantasy high junior year. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:13 It's not even for seniors because that's when they stop being kids. Well, that's the setting of the story. That's when we actually are adults for real. You guys- We're seniors now. I'm a senior. You can't talk to me like that anymore.
Starting point is 00:23:28 We can't be on punishment for doing skip day. They can't punish all of us. It's a great point, but you know, adults do like the crew that makes euphoria are adults, right? The people that actually make the show are adults. So Dimension 20 fantasy, I junior year. But those guys are cool. Just that. Yeah, but those guys are cool. Just, that's your, just those guys are cool? That guy, like, he can hang out with kids and stuff, and they're like, this guy actually kicks ass. This guy's stories are bomb as fuck.
Starting point is 00:23:57 And we get to hang out at his house and drink whenever we want. This guy rocks. Hey, wait a second. I'm just looking at this photo. I think we may be blew by. So Sam Reich is the host of game changer. One of the big shows and make some noise.
Starting point is 00:24:15 Oh wow. How'd he get that job? Uh, he got, he acquired the company. Oh brother. He acquired the company when our parent company sold it. Give me a break. He should be like a mirror and acquire the company and then stop doing content. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:35 That's what you do. If anything, he can take a look at some content he used to make when he made content. One of the things I'm the most proud of working at this company is that our CEO is actually a laborer at the company and makes two of the shows I think that's a cool thing. I think it's cool to lead from this labor. All right. Yeah It's water broke Hey gang, it's Shawn Clemens here to talk about Harry's razors and you know Harry's knows that life can be ridiculous and it's actually I'm sure a little more ridiculous when you
Starting point is 00:25:11 live with that are married to a Comedy podcaster who's like ridiculous and funny all the time. So There's a little prompt here that says what's the funniest thing that's happened to you recently? But my wife is next to me. I'm actually going to ask her because she'll probably have something funny and maybe something that I did. So what's the funniest thing that's happened to you recently, Grace?
Starting point is 00:25:35 And she's smiling a little, probably remembering a funny comment or something that I've made. I'm sure she'll come up with something really good. And it doesn't have to be the absolute funniest it could be the second funniest thing or even if it just top five just anything from the Anything maybe something I've done or
Starting point is 00:25:58 Then you can also say you can I guess you could say pass pass alright, so, you know, that wasn't particularly funny, but you know what else is not funny? Getting ripped off and Harry's agrees. They saw customers getting screwed over by questionable overpriced shaving products
Starting point is 00:26:18 and decided to do something better. And I guess I have to do better in my own life, because I feel like I gave a lot of opportunities to say almost anything and You know at the end of the day it was even hard for her just to get out the word pass So that's uh, that's just going on in my house Instead of charging the same stupid high prices Harry's found their own way to make beautifully designed razors for a fraction of the price of other big brands exceptional products honest prices that's Harry's okay you know oh hang on she's got something you bought
Starting point is 00:26:53 something embarrassing at ride it and I made you go to the checkout counter we didn't do self-checkout we didn't do self check we almost always do self check out at that and she did yeah I guess that probably was humorous for her to make me give the young woman the personal care wipes, specific medical ones. So in speed of right aid and personal care, the shaving products that Harry's makes are just top notch. They've got German engineer blades made in their own factory
Starting point is 00:27:29 that stay sharp longer, customizable delivery options for schedule refills as low as $2. That's half what you pay for the other big brands. Yeah, got a five blade razor, weighted handle, foaming shave gel, and a travel cover. And there's nothing, I don't have a medical condition. Like it's not, I'm fine fine and it just was a little bit I get shy about stuff like that so anyway get it get all that stuff travel cover as well of just three bucks
Starting point is 00:27:56 at Harry's comm slash the boys richly lathering skin-soothing body wash and scents like redwood wildlandslands, and Stone are also available. It's not just razors, there's other things, extra strength, high quality, amazing smelling deodorant for just $5, hair and other grooming products that fit your unique looking needs. I don't think they have their own version
Starting point is 00:28:17 of the product I was buying for my butthole. Highest customer satisfaction in the shaving industry. No risk trial. Don't like your shave, no worries. It's on them. Convenient subscription option that you can cancel at any time. Getting ripped off is not funny,
Starting point is 00:28:33 and apparently neither am I. Switch to Harry's. Get started with a $13 trial set for just $3 at harrys.com slash the boys. That's harrys.com slash the boys for a $3 trial set. You want to say bye, Grace? Bye, Grace. Oh my God, that's so corny.
Starting point is 00:28:50 Rocket Money is a personal finance app that finds and cancels your unwanted subscriptions, monitors your spending, and helps lower your bill so that you can grow your savings. I'm really glad that our ads are working, that people are using the product, and that it is proving useful for them. Amazing for Rocket Money, which is a service
Starting point is 00:29:12 that I really believe in, and I'm happy that people are saving, having their spending monitored, lowering their bills. We've heard more about people using, and than anything else we've ever, and I think people use all, everything we've done ads for, people are like, I've used this, it's useful. Nothing compared to how people are using Rocket Money.
Starting point is 00:29:32 By far the highest number of firsthand experience that we've actually been able to see and feel from our listeners. Because what we hear universally is that people are using Rocket Money to cancel their Patreon subscription to our podcast. And to be fair, we never said that that was not something that you could do. We said unwanted subscriptions, and I think we just assumed, and we know what
Starting point is 00:30:00 happens when you assume, that we would be in the category of wanted subscriptions. But we've gotten so many happy customers saying, gosh, I can't believe how many and we know what happens when you assume that we would be in the category of wanted subscriptions, but we've gotten so many happy customers saying, gosh, I can't believe how much money I'm saving from only canceling one subscription. Rocket Money was able to sniff out the lone spot of fat to be trimmed. And it was of course, our podcast Patreon.
Starting point is 00:30:25 You can see all of your subscriptions in one place, and if you see something you don't want, Rocket Money can help you cancel it with a few taps, and now reading this, I can kind of see, we did sort of walk into this. I love how the dashboard shows me this month's spending compared to last month, so I can clearly see my spending habits.
Starting point is 00:30:46 Yeah, that was bad for us. Help me create a custom budget, keep my spending on track, again, yes. Rocket Money will even try to negotiate to lower your bills for you by up to 20%, and we are getting absolutely rocked on these negotiations. Yeah, up to 20%, I didn't even know there was a ceiling on it like this.
Starting point is 00:31:05 I mean, like we're blowing through that 20%. I don't know what they're doing with us. All you have to do is submit a picture of your bill and Rocket Money takes care of the rest. Boy, do they ever. They'll deal with customer service for you. Yeah, Kevin shows up. Kevin's getting bruises
Starting point is 00:31:22 and this is all just happening over the phone. Rocket Money has over five million users and has saved a total of $500 million in canceled subscriptions. So based on what's happening to us, that's pretty much it. Saving members up to $740 a year when using all the app's features.
Starting point is 00:31:41 Stop wasting money on things you don't use. Oh God. Cancel your unwanted subscriptions by going to rocketmoney.com slash the boys. And they are slash the boys. That's rocketmoney.com slash the boys rocketmoney.com slash the boys. So let me be clear. You guys desperately want to be on these shows. I said we are allowed to. We are allowed to be on the show if we want. I wouldn't mind fixing the show first.
Starting point is 00:32:09 I seem to recall. Is this the only ones and one is in here twice? No, there are more shows that we also have breaking news. There's like different versions of it. There's Game Changer. We have breaking, not embarrassed, it's just not in this banner. We have breaking news.
Starting point is 00:32:24 Dimension 20 obviously has multiple seasons, it's an anthology show. So Dungeons and Dragons is different from Fantasy High Junior year. And then we also are releasing many more titles this coming year, we're actually gonna double the amount of titles on the platform. What are those about, stealing You Had One Job, no doubt.
Starting point is 00:32:43 I think we're good on You Had One Job. I think that'll probably, you guys can use that. Yeah, we're gonna be amazing on it. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. We'll be really good on it. So a bunch of stuff, Play It By Ear, another great show with Zach Rayno and Jess McKenna.
Starting point is 00:32:56 Yeah. We had them on the show. They've been on here. And we did on theirs. One of those famous episodes. So yeah, we have a Venturing Academy, I host, Total Forgiveness. What is that?
Starting point is 00:33:12 Total Forgiveness? Total Forgiveness is an awesome prank docu-series where Ali Beardsley and Grant O'Brien compete in horrifying challenges to get their student debt recused. Amir did that already as well. Amir did that? Yes, he did it.
Starting point is 00:33:31 And it was fake, and he is being pursued by the law. He is in a lot of legal trouble. You wanna do a prank war? And then Kingpin Katie Katie starring Katie Marovitch is a great single cam series. You have Sea Plum Run with Elaine Carroll, The Rank Room, Katie Marovitch, Erotic Book Club with-
Starting point is 00:33:54 So she gets to do two. Who? Katie Marovitch. Well most of the people have done multiple. Grant O'Brien is one of the hosts of Dirty Laundry. So most of the people get to do two. Sure. It's a cast.
Starting point is 00:34:09 So it's the original College Humor cast. College Humor is named in one of the shows, College Humor Chaos. Yeah. I thought you said Dropout was because they weren't doing it anymore. This guy can't keep his story straight. Well, it's, you know, we have a library. You had one job, bro. You had one damn job.
Starting point is 00:34:27 So let's, let's, I guess let's try to find where you guys would slide in here. Oh, Celebrity Slumber Party. Uh, bamboozled. She was on the show. Uh, Rekha Shankar. And, and, and I'll tell you something else. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:34:40 What celebrity are we getting? I think we had Jack Black. Let's see. Pretty think we had Jack Black. Let's see. Pretty sure we had Jack Black. Okay, just cut where he asked and cut where he said that they have Jack Black. Just cut that, please.
Starting point is 00:34:54 Oh, there's Jack Black. We had Jack Black on. Okay. So that's a celebrity. And Jon Cho. Eli Roth. Eli Roth. Not famous to you, I guess. Okay, cut all this. Cut all this. and John Cho, and Eli Roth, and Kyle McLaughlin. Okay, cut all this.
Starting point is 00:35:07 Cut all this. Well, I know there's only three episodes. That's true. It was a limited series that we did back for the YouTube channel. Extremely limited. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Extremely limited series.
Starting point is 00:35:17 So are you guys seeing anything in the sort of portfolio of shows that we have that is making you excited about what you would potentially bring to a show. We had Ben Stiller on this show once. Just, I noticed the Nazi Ben Stiller. Don Glover's done it. On here, gosh.
Starting point is 00:35:34 Yeah, I guess maybe if you'd done a fourth episode, we could've had. Just if you're gonna do a limited series like that, and then it's like, oh, all our guests are big, and it's like, well, if we only did three episodes. Are you guys angry because we had celebrities? You just heard we had two really famous guests. Two big ones.
Starting point is 00:35:51 So we could probably come up with a third one as well. A third one would have been also, yeah. Yeah, I get it. If we were, that's what we were doing. John Ham. John Ham, yeah. John Ham, great. I'm happy for you guys that you had those guests.
Starting point is 00:36:03 And they're all boys as well, which is apparently the rules for the celebrity slumber party too. Notice every single one of them's a boy. Gotcha. Ridiculous. Okay, well, you know, we've had Rachel Bloom has been on Um, Actually and has been on,
Starting point is 00:36:17 or I believe Make Some Noise as well. So she wasn't allowed to be on that show because it's boys only. Yeah, only boys on that one. And we've had girls on the show too. Caitlin Olson on the show. Well, incredible. I'm very happy for you guys that you've had these celebrities.
Starting point is 00:36:31 And the tone that you have, even when you say I'm happy for you, meanwhile, you've been coming for Hayes all day, standing on his throat for not having enough joy when he delivers things like, you know, she did the show or he was on the show and going like, oh, you know, you don't sound happy about it. And then you go, and I'm very happy for you.
Starting point is 00:36:54 It's like, you're saying the word happy. Yeah. And it doesn't sound like. Don't sound like a word to me. It's not a big celebration. You're not saying we, before or after. Yeah, you're right. It's not a full-throated happiness,
Starting point is 00:37:06 that's true, because I'm sort of trying to throw, I guess, an olive branch, because on the one hand. Because you want something in return. I do, I would love for us to move to a place of genuineness and camaraderie, but I do see you guys sort of as a poison at the heart of the world. So there's an element where I consider. At the heart, Okay. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:28 All right. I, I, you know, I'm trying to find a way to, I think there's something so profoundly venomous in this room and podcast that I am opposed to with all my heart and soul, but I keep trying to find a thing to start us on a road to something genuine. People have described us as in the past being
Starting point is 00:37:45 on kind of sitting on one of the knuckles of the world. All the way at the heart of the world, the adventures of Kim Jong-un. Did you see this one? Yeah, so I noticed they tried to bury that. It wasn't on the banner. They took a gamble on that one. We haven't had him on the show.
Starting point is 00:38:03 They have not had. So you got one up on us there. For sure, for sure. But notice he's a boy, so of course he gets a boy. Yeah, he must have had a slumber party too, yeah. And then you see some animated stuff here, and some of the previous- We could do that.
Starting point is 00:38:16 Sure, and I bet you couldn't, I bet you'd do a great job. Everyday acting, Dan Gurwitch, The Shining, there's Michael Trapp. Yeah, it's a, we have an amazing cast and a lot of alumni from College Humor that now work all over the entertainment industry. What's Batman? Hmm? What's Batman? Batman is a Pete Holmes series where he plays a parody of the Nolan Batman.
Starting point is 00:38:46 It's bad, but this time his name is bad, man. What he's still doing that. Oh, I think it's a really beloved and quite popular, but the, um, uh, yeah. So this, you know, a bunch of great shows here. And again, I'm not seeing you guys for all of the effort you put into illegal. That's right, you are not seeing us. Yeah, you're not seeing us.
Starting point is 00:39:11 But we're right here, Brandon. We're right here. Will you please just see us? Will you see me? We're giving you everything we have here. Yeah. You know, you don't seem to want to hear any kind of notes or criticism on the show.
Starting point is 00:39:30 So why don't you tell me about a problem you've been trying to solve. Everything is so perfect. This must be a discussion that happens, right? That you have a problem you want to solve in there. And maybe we can approach it from something that you already feel is an issue, and that way we'll all be aligned.
Starting point is 00:39:49 Because it feels like you're going, this is great about it, and I'm going, okay, I thought that was one of the problems. So why don't you say what a problem is? And hopefully it's not something I think is great. That was, yeah. Well, I would say to that kind offer, I would say, is kind offer, I would say,
Starting point is 00:40:09 is there, you know, you guys brought me into this podcast recording and immediately, I think maybe illegally bamboozled me into signing a false document. Immediately starts shoving it on the. It's a totally standard release form that guarantees us the right to appear in any dropout show we want. Yeah. The auction. Yeah, and I will, and I mean, we absolutely will not be honoring
Starting point is 00:40:27 that contract. Probably not gonna do it. I mean, 100%. Yeah, I probably not gonna do it. Okay, so this, you heard it here first. One of the high ranking officials that dropout does not honor signed contracts. Yeah. So this will really get people saying like,
Starting point is 00:40:38 do you wanna show it dropout? I don't think, yeah. Well, your guys' signatures aren't even on it. There's no, it doesn't seem like a legally binding contract in any way. We're not the ones agreeing to let us do our own show. Like we do that already.
Starting point is 00:40:53 So now you guys actually get your own show. It's not even being on already. Well, none of these feel like a good fit. Am I crazy? Yeah. Like. What's, well, yeah, I guess, I guess let's dig into the problem.
Starting point is 00:41:03 Why do they not feel like a good fit to you? Well, one thing is I'm seeing all these other people on them. So you want room for me to really go off. So what you're asking for, it's a little crowded, so what you're asking for, so I can understand, is what would make this more welcoming for your involvement would be if you had already been involved from the beginning.
Starting point is 00:41:26 Or is it an empty state? How's Dimension 20 work? Yeah, what happens? Dimension 20 is an actual play where we invite comedians and performers to come in and play tabletop role-playing games. I think I know some. Like Dungeons and Dragons.
Starting point is 00:41:40 I think you guys had Lou Wilson on the program. Yeah. We actually already had him on the show. Yeah. Yeah, that's what I said. That's what I said. Okay. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:50 You don't have to say it again. So we can't agree on like, we, we can't agree on one thing. Yeah. Without you being like, oh, I said that that's my territory. No one else is allowed. Only I am allowed to say it. I thought you wanted camaraderie and agreement. I was, I was, I was trying to agree with you. Yeah, I understand.
Starting point is 00:42:05 I don't think that's what you were trying to do. I don't think that's what you were trying to do. I literally succeeded at it. I've known him for a long time. He was trying to do that. And if I'm trying to do something, you'll know. Yeah. And I was.
Starting point is 00:42:15 And it does get done. What we do on Dimension 20 is we invite a group of comedians and performers on to, uh, play tabletop role playing games. You're probably familiar with Dungeons and Dragons, which is a game we play the most often on the show. We play other teams. Honor Among Thieves. Oh, you're talking about the movie.
Starting point is 00:42:31 Yeah, for sure. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But that's, so the movie is based on. I was actually just talking about the concept of Honor Among Thieves, but sure. We can watch your, we can talk about your. I'd love to talk about the concept of Honor Among Thieves. Do you guys feel that you proceed through life with honor amongst your industry?
Starting point is 00:42:47 I don't, I actually don't think there is any honor among thieves. I think these are stealers. Yeah, they do stealing. So I'm not sure where the honor comes in exactly. For sure. I guess I'd have to see the movie you're so crazy about. Well, again, those are words being put in my mouth. I thought the movie was, was lovely. Actually.
Starting point is 00:43:06 I thought it was a fun romp. Pivoted at the last second. Oh yeah. I felt the breeze. Everyone can hear that. Well, you're putting those words in my mouth. I thought the movie was, was lovely. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:21 Just fucking eyes seeing the microphone and being like, oh yeah. Cause he was sitting in the theater being like, I just said that. I did that already. I do the show about this. Every fucking scene. The, it was a fun movie. So Wizard, real original.
Starting point is 00:43:38 They gather around, they play the game. Yes. And they're doing funny jokes and stuff? Yeah, for sure. I mean, in a portion. How much time do they have to think of a funny joke? Yeah, how much time would we get? How much time would you get to?
Starting point is 00:43:50 It's improvised, yes, sure, but how much time do they have? I know it's improvised, but like how much time do you get to work on your jokes? Are you asking per joke? I'm asking like, how much fucking time do I get? Well, like you say per joke, they have to do more than one.
Starting point is 00:44:06 Jesus Christ. How long's the show? Well, each episode is about two hours long. What the fuck? Each episode is about two hours long. So one hour per joke, I guess. That's longer than Dungeons and Dragons, Honor Among Thieves. So yeah, it's actual play. So it's a normal game session of D and D
Starting point is 00:44:29 might take four to six hours. So we're actually a pretty expedited kind of, kind of lithe and limber show. Um, and, uh, the amount of time you have to think of jokes as none, you're improvising. So you're doing it extemporaneously and you're playing a character, which means that you're sometimes doing dialogue as the character.
Starting point is 00:44:49 Sometimes you're narrating the character's actions and then other times you're just doing bits at the table with your fellow performers and comedians. It's the nature of the game, it's sort of how the game is played. Do you, and you have, like how much of it can you be lying down for? Yeah, can I, like, well, what's the pillow situation?
Starting point is 00:45:07 Like what's going on, pillow? Real talk, real talk, Egg. We actually just got some pillows that have a heating and cooling function in the seats at the chairs, which is a huge, huge win. I can see how that would be good for some people, but like that's gonna set off my Having my whole system having the temperature be exactly customizable to your taste is going to set off your what it's
Starting point is 00:45:34 It's all system my whole system my internal regulation Having that degree of control over your environment is set off your system. It responds to over your environment, it's gonna set off your system. It responds to, so like speaking of improv, my body responds to a suggestion by like doing kind of the most extreme thing possible. So if some outside force is like, hey, let's like heat up a little bit, then like I am going to.
Starting point is 00:45:59 And you go, oh, well then cool it down. Well, if some outside force is cooled down, then he's going to just take such a wide turn the other way. It's like, it's the kind of thing where this technology is, it's making our lives better because we can customize it. And what it does is presumes that we know what's best for ourselves, right? And that is a fallacy, I'm sorry, it's a modern fallacy
Starting point is 00:46:23 And that is a fallacy. I'm sorry, it's a modern fallacy that we're all just closing our eyes and following blindly. We don't know what we need, okay? What I would say is the only pillow that exists is actually oak leaves, a pile of oak leaves. This is what nature wanted. And I think we forgot the other way, somewhere along our journey, because there was actually already.
Starting point is 00:46:49 Now we have Oakleys. Right. Oh, that's right. Improvement. Oh yes. It's wild. Perfect. To, to keep the sun away.
Starting point is 00:46:59 Yeah. We don't want the sun. Mustn't have the sun. Giver of life. Yes. Can we block the sun somehow? And it's just like, look at what you're even saying, Brennan. What I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:47:12 When did I talk about Oakleys? Literally at what point? At what point? What's crazy, Sean, is I actually was, I was with you. Now that I didn't talk about this. I was with you. I didn't say that, okay.
Starting point is 00:47:22 In the first half of what you were saying. I think that's an interesting point. That is crazy that you think you're with me. I actually thought it was an interesting point that maybe customizability and control actually is sort of not what a lot of people need. And then you're talking about- Well, it's a failure to adapt.
Starting point is 00:47:36 I mean, it's like the human animal, whose cranium houses this mighty supercomputer, is built to adapt, right? And we need different stresses, yes, to help us kind of form ourselves around them. And this is how we find out who we are and what we're capable of. And when everything is just customized
Starting point is 00:48:02 to these precision little needs and wants, what we do is we weaken and we atrophy and we become, no offense, but like some of these shows I'm seeing on Dropout where like we can't hold up to any scrutiny, we can't have comments on our home site, right? Because God forbid, one of the comments said something that made us piss our little pants.
Starting point is 00:48:26 Like, it really is sad to me. Because I think you're capable of so much more, but you need to open up the comments, and they need to be the first thing you see when you go to this site, whether you subscribe or not. I was about to suggest that we watch one of these clips and then I looked at how long they are. Oh my God.
Starting point is 00:48:51 1740. Oh, Jesus Christ. 4102 to 1822. That's half an honor among thieves. Yeah. Well, they're shows guys. This is not clips. This is the full show.
Starting point is 00:49:03 These are shows? Yes. These are shows. There's a show. This is not clips. This is the full show. These are shows. Yes These are shows. There's a show called Cool Ranch Communion. What's the name of an episode? Why is that one 1740 and this one's 21822? It's the same show as your show that I was accountability for one That aren't you account that first show is adventuring Party, which is the shorter Talkback companion series to Dimension 20. Jesus Christ. Talkback, I see where you learned it. Pfft.
Starting point is 00:49:45 Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha little kids that we make our shows for. Well, it's not for children. I agree. You know, Sean, there's, it's, there's, there's parts of the, there's parts of what you're saying that I agree with. I want to find common ground here. There's parts of what you're saying. There's sort of, you, you end up arriving, you, you say a lot of poetry that I really agree with and
Starting point is 00:50:01 then arrive at conclusions like we should only use oak leaves, not cushions. Flattery will get you everywhere, my dear. So the poetry. It is poetry, isn't it? And we need to, we gotta get this. Yeah, can you do a quick read of this while we have you?
Starting point is 00:50:16 Oh, actually, yeah, this we need, yeah. This is just for all your socials and dropout. Yeah. Okay. I don't, so the copy you've put here, one misspells my name. It's not Brannon. Brannman.
Starting point is 00:50:31 It's not Brannman. So then why do people, why would people call you the muffin pan? So in my life, only two people have ever called me the muffin pan. Also, just to be clear, so it's this said- To your face. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:50:50 And now let it be, she might, okay. I'm not gonna read this copy. If one of you guys wants to read it, you can, but I'm not gonna read it, cause it's not true. You want us to read this copy for your socials and for dropout? Yeah. I can do it.
Starting point is 00:51:11 I can sound basically exactly like you. Okay, this is gonna be hurtful. I think, you know, and to answer your question, Hayes, yeah, I'll be dead in the cold earth before I post this on my socials. Okay, if you say so. Doesn'thmm, doesn't matter, all your heirs are still gonna have to honor the contract. Might be better for us.
Starting point is 00:51:31 I'll take what's in the box at this point. So I can, nothing working out here. Hi guys, it's me, Brad. I'm all organized, recorded my favorite podcast ever. It's called Hollywood Handbook and I think you're gonna love it. The hosts, John and Hazel, now allowed to be the guests on any dropout show, so you might start seeing a lot of them.
Starting point is 00:51:51 Might. You might. Yeah. And we're allowed to if we want to do it. We have the option. We're probably not even going to. We may not. How, uh, and just it's a scheduling thing to. I honestly don't even feel like it. At this point, I'm actually thinking that I might
Starting point is 00:52:05 not appear on very many of them. Well, I'm sorry to hear that you feel that way. It's, we try to have a fun collegiate atmosphere over there and genuinely- Collegiate, the dropout, collegiate, collegiate. Guys, school coded. It's very school coded. If I could just say, how does it make you feel?
Starting point is 00:52:34 Not great. Got it. Well, gang, you know. This is why he doesn't wanna do, you had one job. He doesn't wanna fucking get a job, just like school, school, school. I'm doing my grad studies. Don't you get out in the real fucking world.
Starting point is 00:52:50 I'll be honest, game. Go to the zoo. Yeah. See the baboons. I'd love to go to the zoo and I'd love to, to imagine. And, and I think guys, you know, obviously that you've had some negative, uh, comments and critiques, but I even allowed to post comments.
Starting point is 00:53:12 Yeah. I meant here on your show, but yes, not only place we get, we have, that's the only place you've left us to do our comments. The entirety of our experience has to be contained within the show. There's no other outlet for the comments. So yeah, it's not all gonna be roses and honey butter socks.
Starting point is 00:53:32 Go back to the YouTube comments. Yeah, we have YouTube comments, social media comments. We have a customer service email and we have a fan Discord. So it feels like there's a lot of place to sort of make your own. I'm gonna, okay, here's a comment. Am I the only one who thinks they really missed out on calling the award the Golden Lobe?
Starting point is 00:53:49 Wait, how about this one? I'm gonna bring back that Teddy like I'm fucking Roosevelt is the best sentence I have ever heard in my life. Bravo. Now this is the one who truly did drop out. That's the best sentence they've ever heard of their life. Doesn't make any sense. What part of it is losing you?
Starting point is 00:54:10 I'm gonna bring back that Teddy like I'm fucking Roosevelt. What, did he bring himself back? Well, it's a line that has to exist in context of the show that's quotation marks around it means the fan thinks that that joke was funny. What was going on in the show?
