Starting point is 00:00:00 this is a head gum podcast kevin stop stop the theme song we don't have time we don't have time great okay we have the guest we have why are you we don't have time we only have 30 minutes so like i thought you wanted i thought you know we have a brain and don't play the theme song when we don't have time for it what is the name of kevin let me let me introduce let me introduce the guest i'm so sorry about kevin we're trying to get to the guest kevin me introduce the guest. I'm so sorry about Kevin. We're trying to get to the guest, Kevin. Why are you talking to the guest? I'm so sorry about Kevin. I just want to know
Starting point is 00:00:29 what song was he about to play? It's their song. Kevin, play the theme song. Kevin, he wants to hear the theme song. I want to hear it. No, he should hear it. I might start dancing. Meg Ryan Richard Gere Michelle Pfeiffer Rupert Grint he's not he's not dancing i you know what i haven't seen any dancing here comes haze and sean that's us hollywood you want me you want me to tell you where you got that drum pattern from
Starting point is 00:01:05 okay my girl likes to party all the time that's eddie murphy's drum pattern for that song good ear so this is uh obviously legal action that we have been avoid we've been doing the show for like six years now and we've always sort of been waiting to be sued by eddie murphy for using was that a good year was that it i believe that is it okay all right now that's probably the end of the our careers basically because he's very litigious no you guys you've zoomed it up so much no one no one knows it don't worry kenny the Jet Smith, two-time NBA champion, Tar Heel, product of Queens Boulevard like Vinny Chase himself. Man, you know all of this, man.
Starting point is 00:01:54 You're good. You are Queens Boulevard. You are Queens Boulevard. Host of Inside the NBA, joining us today on Hollywood Handbook, Kenny the Jetetsmith. It is such a pleasure to have you. Well, I'm glad to be here. Appreciate you having me.
Starting point is 00:02:15 I'm moving out of the sun so I can get a better shade on me and trying to give you the best answers. I'll try to give you the best answers that I can. Kenny, you say you were moving out of the sun. You did move your angle. I noticed you conveniently moved it so we can see your Emmy in the background background oh really uh and and to that i would just like to say there's actually two there's actually two in here right now but i just use them as back scratchers and you know i don't really use them as oh wow you know a lot of times you know i get things in my teeth oh you're flossing with it looks It looks very sharp. That looks incredibly dangerous.
Starting point is 00:02:45 Yes. To do. Well, when you have a couple, you get used to doing them. Kenny, we want to talk about a lot of different things. We want to talk about Jet Academy. JetAcademyCamp.com. The first online basketball camp. Well, you know, I was sitting here and, you know, social distancing
Starting point is 00:03:06 and pandemic, and I'm like, no camps. I couldn't run my normal camp. None of my kids' camps are being active. I was like, why should everyone's development stop because of a pandemic? So I created the first online virtual basketball camp
Starting point is 00:03:20 for kids all around the world. And, but what differentiates it is live where it's not a tape. It's live. You get to ask questions the same way they process information. They can upload videos. We answer the questions on the videos and it's a live experience. It works on any device. All you need is cellular service and or Wi-Fi, and it works. And it's JetAcademyCamp.com. Again, JetAcademyCamp.com. An hour and a half, Trey Young, Kimball Walker, Victor Olabit Depot, Brittany Griner, WNBA MVP, Brianna Stewart.
Starting point is 00:03:59 We become your personal trainer for an hour and a half. And you like to say, you said kids, but you like to say, of course, that anyone can be a kid. 40 plus podcast hosts for example are allowed to participate. Is that correct? If you still
Starting point is 00:04:18 play anywhere, if you play three on three, you play at the fitness center, you're going to get this workout because you you used to going there and getting it now it's the same type of field that you get so it's not like a oh there's a six-year-old and yeah but they're a six-year-old we have modified versions of stuff you get from all ages for anyone but the parents are looking for stuff for their kids to do more than anything else so you know i think it's going to lend more to that as well.
Starting point is 00:04:48 And some participants could probably take over and if I'm participating, if I, for example, I could probably teach a clinic on chest passes specifically, doing a really, really hard chest pass. Participants are allowed to take over if they have the requisite expertise. Is that right? I just want to say this i'm not with you every day but these two guys are and they're letting you get away with stuff like this they're with you every day and they have not said one word yeah and they're allowing you to say that you could be an expert in chest passing and no one is competent other than me i i don't even know if that's right because they know if
Starting point is 00:05:24 they did say something, I could basically take their head off with a chest pass. Yeah. I would not correct him on that because I would be afraid that he would chest pass my head straight off of my neck. Can I ask you one question? What is around your microphone?
Starting point is 00:05:36 Me? So, yeah, it's a great question. So, basically... Wait, is your microphone scared of you giving it the COVID-19? Is your microphone afraid? My microphone has begun wearing a mask. That's just a precaution. If you read any of the science on this, I want to be healthy.
Starting point is 00:06:02 I want to be alive. Why wouldn't my microphone want the same thing? So yeah, I did provide my microphone with a mask. And I think the results speak for themselves. The microphone still lives. So okay. All right. No problem.
Starting point is 00:06:16 Speaking of being alive, Kenny, will you be going to Orlando? Well, you know, there's some talk about the studio show going there for the conference finals, but initially we will not. We'll be either at home here doing our show or we'll be in Atlanta.
Starting point is 00:06:38 A modified version of our studio, but pretty much the same look. I'm always six feet away from Charles and Shaq anyway, mentally. So this is just physically being able to do it. I'm always six feet away from Charles and Shaq anyway, mentally. So this is just physically being able to do it. I could see a situation where they all say they're going to go, and they're like, oh, yeah, we're going now. We'll be in Orlando in like an hour.
Starting point is 00:06:56 We'll see you at the studio. And then it's just you. No, no, no. I'd be the one saying that and not showing up. And not showing up and not showing up yeah kenny you are probably most famous for kenny's pictures a feature on inside the nba where you and this sounds crazy as i'm even as i'm saying it it sounds impossible i'm bracing myself for you to describe it because when i see it, I just about fall off my couch.
Starting point is 00:07:27 Where you run to the back of the studio to a big screen and you, I'm just going to say it, you go inside video footage of a basketball game. You actually go inside the video. Yes. Does it hurt? It does not hurt. It is exhausting, but it doesn't hurt. Yeah. Yes. Does it hurt? It does not hurt. It is exhausting, but it doesn't hurt. Yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 00:07:50 I'll tell you how we came up with it. I'm sitting myself in chat. We're talking about old movies. We're talking about Poltergeist. Poltergeist, yeah. Where the guy goes into the television. Sucked into the television screen, yep. We were talking and he was like, man, you know, you. Where the guy goes into the television. Sucked into the television screen, yep.
Starting point is 00:08:06 We were talking and he was like, man, you know, you go into the big board, you should be able to do that. Yeah. And I was like, you know what, I can. And he's like, no, you can't. He was joking. But I have a production company, so I knew that there was a way to do it. But I wanted to see how fast.
Starting point is 00:08:21 So then our director comes over, Steve Fiorello, and he says oh no i can make that happen kenny but it you know to get you to transport it would take you know three days uh-huh because of this this and this he's i said no it won't yeah i said i could do that in 45 seconds he's like get out of here he's like you cannot do that i said steve i know the drill i know i have a production company. I've seen it. So I know how to make the shortcuts work.
Starting point is 00:08:48 So he said, okay, let's set it up and let's see if you do it. I did it in one take in 45 seconds. And he was like, we got it. So a process that- Normally that should take three days. It should take about three days. It takes about three days to do. But for me, it took 45 seconds. Only because I knew the process.
Starting point is 00:09:06 And then I knew what to do and how to sell it. And here I am. I beat me up, Scotty. I'm on Star Trek and I'm in Poltergeist. And Poltergeist, of course, a famously cursed production. Much of the cast has passed away under shocking circumstances. I hope that Kenny's Pictures is not cursed in the same way that the movie Poltergeist. Well, it's cursed in this way.
Starting point is 00:09:31 If you're not in Kenny's Pictures, your team will never win an NBA championship. And the Kenny's Pictures curse is real. It's real. Every team that's won an NBA championship has been in Kenny's Pictures. Wow. team that's won an NBA championship has been in Kenny's picture. Wow. Speaking of pictures,
Starting point is 00:09:47 you sit beside two of the most Sean and I were Hollywood guys. You sit beside two of the most illustrious actors in history. The star
Starting point is 00:10:03 Shaquille O'Neal, the star shaquille o'neal the star of uh multiple b-rated movies grown-ups too he played officer fluzu the smurfs too the voice of smooth smurf and an upcoming appearance in adam sandler's hubie Halloween. Role not disclosed yet. But probably the lead. Sir Charles. Sir Charles, of course, appeared in episode five, season three of the TV series Suits. Appeared in the Pina Colada song episode of the Goldbergs as a gym teacher. This is like, these are heavy hitters.
Starting point is 00:10:42 You're sitting beside something like, I mean, thatmy's not for like acting acting no you know but we got to get you there kenny you've done i know you've acted you did mysteries of laura correct i did mysteries of laura talk about mysteries of laura for a second talk about this you did not share the screen with deborah i understand no i did not um mr reason larver was uh a great a fun project because um a couple of friends were on the show and they asked they were like we want you to be on and i got on then the other one that i've been on was just right the movie just right common and queen latifah come on that's that's, that's no, there's no slouch in that. That's yep. That's no joke.
Starting point is 00:11:27 No joke. Sort of a, a movie about love and basketball, but not the, not the movie love and basketball. And the, uh, and the,
Starting point is 00:11:35 and the sports show that was on a BET for a long time. I was on that a couple of times. I've been on, uh, the odd couple. And was Debra messing in the scene with you on the odd couple? This was the, this was the new version of The Odd Couple, but no, I was not. I was with Felix, and I was with Oscar mainly because he was trying to get me to give him some betting tips.
Starting point is 00:11:55 Ah. And I wouldn't give them to him. So I've had my share. But you're saying I should girth myself up in in terms of the acting world i'm saying we watch this show we see you at the desk we go these two guys on the sides are the ones in all the freaking movies those are the decorated actors when meanwhile we got mr damn charisma jumping into the screen can go into any show he wants at any time takes him 45 seconds something's not adding up here kenny someone said it was funny today someone asked me who would be the first in an acting role
Starting point is 00:12:33 to win an emmy between the three of us between the oscar round and i would say i said me charles cannot he would be in he would be in a i said charles would be in a great comedic movie, but you would never consider it for an Oscar. Yeah. Limited range. Charles can only be Charles. He would do Jumanji. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:12:56 He'd do a Jumanji movie. I said Shaq would do a blockbuster like Men in Black, but you're not going to consider that oscar work men in check they're not giving vin diesel the oscar but you could put me in the notebook man i could make you cry man i'm telling you yeah i make you cry let's do that let's do that now you you can use your kenny's pictures powers to put yourself in any movie this is what we're going to do at this moment kevin is going to play a clip and all you have to do kenny is respond to the dialogue in the clip and we will we're you
Starting point is 00:13:33 know what is this called in theater school this is what we're doing again acting improv we're doing improv okay and we're doing it we're of course self-taught we uh did not go to theater school uh but yeah i'm ready just do a little improv right now. Let's go. Kevin, Kevin, play the clip. He said let's go. Kevin, this is the song all over again. This is American Psycho.
Starting point is 00:13:54 This is the scene. New card. What do you think? Whoa. Very nice. Look at that. Picked them up from the printers yesterday. Good coloring.
Starting point is 00:14:07 That's bone. And the lettering is something called Cillian Braille. It's very cool, Bateman, but that's nothing. Look at this. That is really nice. Eggshell with Romalian type. What do you think? Okay, so Kenny...
Starting point is 00:14:24 What's my next line? I want to apologize. Yeah, I'd love to hear what your line is. I'm ready. Let me go. Let me go. I'm ready. Don't let me lose a moment.
Starting point is 00:14:31 Okay. He's in it. Whoa, he's deep in it. Okay, so give him the next line, and then he can do that line reading, Kevin. No, I don't want to do that line. I'm going to do my own line. I'm in problem. Let him do his own.
Starting point is 00:14:40 Do it. Your own business card. So you guys, you want me to pull out my card? When you pull out your card, you've already lost the deal. Oh, my God. He just took him to school. If they don't know who you are, you've lost the deal. Oh, wow.
Starting point is 00:15:00 And that's better than what's in the movie. They should have said, if you don't, oh, you have a business card, that means that people don't know who you are. There you go. Wow. Wow. It's a version of, if you got to ask, you can't afford it, right? I mean, that's what we're dealing with here.
Starting point is 00:15:17 Exactly. Have you ever seen LeBron James pull out his business card? On the court. Imagine if you were playing basketball and during the game, he showed his business card on the court imagine like if you were playing basketball and like during the game he showed his business card he doesn't have to because everyone knows who he is because Magic Johnson walks into a business meeting and has to leave a business card yeah but picture this though Kenny LeBron dunks in someone's face they go to block it he bodies them they they're they fall on their ass
Starting point is 00:15:46 and slide into the photographers and then he reaches into his shorts pulls out a business card and hands it to them but he goes hey great doing business with you call me anytime you want to do this again good that's part of a great movie hey we need to write a movie really you the four of us do the four of us i said just right we should just write a sports comedy movie honestly Kevin this is the crew we have the idea I do want to try to cut Kevin out of this process
Starting point is 00:16:14 please the choice the movie he chose is sick it's a disgusting movie it is not appropriate for these circumstances at all I do want to try again well it's a murder porno and i'm sure it's not associated with jet academy or anything like that we would no problem so that's my kids don't watch this is for the parents all right let's see this is for
Starting point is 00:16:38 the 40 plus camp a murder porno oh my gosh well I don't know what else to call it, Kenny. Okay. All right, Kevin, next clip, please. Yes. He's screen sharing. I'm nervous. I don't know what to say, really. Three minutes to the biggest battle of our professional lives.
Starting point is 00:17:04 All comes down to today. Okay, take it away. Not enough. Am I going to be him? Or am I going to be one of the players? You can be whoever you want to be. Maybe you're one of the players. You can be one of the players.
Starting point is 00:17:17 You can be Dennis Quaid if you want, who's a very believable football player. I'll finish what he was saying. Okay. Because guys, moments in life come few and far. You can be remembered, or you can be forgotten, or you can make someone be forgotten. Let's not let them be remembered tonight.
Starting point is 00:17:44 Let's go! let's not let them be remembered tonight. Let's go. And that is verbatim the exact word that Al Pacino says in the movie. Moments in life are few and far between. You can be remembered or you can be forgotten or you can let someone be forgotten and let's not let them be remembered tonight. And let's go.
Starting point is 00:18:07 I'm surprised you remember what I said verbatimatim that's pretty good that's in the movie i'm reading from the script that's i'm just reading from the script that's like that's the verbatim no it is not dialogue it's probably just entered your did you ever see it no that's that's not the verbatim did you ever see the movie i have but i have seen it maybe don't be modest it's it's verbatim what they say see the movie i have but i've seen it maybe don't be modest it's it's verbatim what they say in the movie get out of here it's not verbatim get out of here it's not like a couple words here the spirit of it is is very similar and what and it's i have not seen that movie since it came out it is also kind it's something of a murder porno as well well yes in its own way wait wait time out i'm still like i'm nervous what are the actual words for real let's play
Starting point is 00:18:53 play it through because i don't but i don't you it might have changed it might have changed this is the dvd version all right don't worry all right like get out of here you have to be up here oh man i tell you guys are good we need to write a movie man telling you we got it minus kevin all four kevin get the papers like what are you you're hearing this you're not getting let's draw you want to write a movie drop the contract you know what i mean let's figure it out kevin how you know like so easy split you know oh yeah sure 25 25 really generous so it's an easy split man like i mean i'm gonna get it sold you guys are just gonna be over here right absolutely no yeah it's not getting made on our on our shoulder oh man the guy's got a guy's got a towel around a microphone i'm concerned for my microphone.
Starting point is 00:19:45 I'm sorry. I care about my microphone. I love my microphone. That's a crime now in this country. All right. What's next, man? I love this.
Starting point is 00:19:52 Okay. This is Shrek 2. Oh, I know this well. Cheeks out of my face and at stakes. Well, you don't exactly smell like a basket of roses. Well, one of these has got to help.
Starting point is 00:20:09 I was just concocting this very plan. Already our minds are becoming one. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, now. Listen, if we need an expert on licking ourselves, we'll give you a call. See, I'm just reminding this is the man who's going to sue me. And so now you play a clip, Kevin, of Eddie Murphy when this is the man who is going to sue me. And so now you play a clip, Kevin, of Eddie Murphy when this is the man who is going to end my career. I suppose we don't have the rights to this either, do we?
Starting point is 00:20:31 No, you don't. We don't have the rights to any of these? Definitely not Eddie. The other stuff were good. So I'll skip to this part. You got Mike Myers' voice and Antonio Banderas' voice. Yeah. But you got the rights to those,
Starting point is 00:20:44 but you didn't get the rights to Eddie Murphy. So we're going to be sued twice. Should we keep playing or do a different movie? This clip, it's the potions factory from Shrek 2. Well, the only thing is, I'm more of a Shrek 1 person. So Shrek 2 didn't move me. So I would have read the script.
Starting point is 00:20:59 We told you that. We told you that before the show that Kenny was a Shrek 1 guy. Shrek 2 felt like a money grab. It felt like a money grab shrek two shrek one was like i'm making i'm making something here shrek two was like oh let's get this money let's get this money shrek one is like these are artists this is for the love of the art yeah and shrek two was like money grab Shrek 2 was about the green alright yeah it was that's what it should have been called all about the green uh huh

Starting point is 00:28:19 Like these aren't the dresses. Oh no, they were not from the movie. They didn't resemble anything from the movie they were not they were either way too big or way too small for a human to wear yeah and one of them was a dressing yeah one of them was it was it was a vinaigrette it was a raspberry vinaigrette it was a french raspberry vinaigrette dressing oh they'll even try to get you a refund for the last couple months of wasted money and negotiate to lower your bills for you by up to 20 all you have to do is take a picture of your bill and rocket money takes care of the rest

So I'm going to try to control something that's a lot easier than people. I'm going to try to control the weather. Yeah, wait. It'd be a little difficult to make it rain, right? That would be something that only God can do, right?
Starting point is 00:30:08 I'm going to do something that God can't do. I'm not just going to make it clear up. No, no, no, no, no. I'm going to make it. Take it away, Kenny. Kevin. I'm going to make it what? Just not a great.
Starting point is 00:30:21 It's not a great setup. I mean, I'd be someone in the let me be someone in the in the uh right before he says his line in the crowd yeah yeah can you believe this fake trick this hollywood thing where they got you could see the whole fire hose right on top of the building oh go back okay what's up and then he says he's right and then he does his whole setup come on man just totally take him out at the knees smart now you see me too another one the first movie you're watching them and be like god these are artists in love with their art this is craft and then now you and they were doing real magic and then i think it now you see me too some of
Starting point is 00:31:03 those were camera tricks. Oh, without question. No, I definitely... The rain even looked fake in the thing. It didn't even look real. And raindrops don't fall that way. I don't even know if Jesse J. Atlas was wet in that scene. It was honestly so phony to me that it took me out of the movie entirely.
Starting point is 00:31:26 Now You See Me won. I was completely absorbed the entire time. Okay. Favorite movie of all time for you guys? Probably Now You See Me won. Really? Of all time? The first one.
Starting point is 00:31:38 What about you? The second one lost me. What about you, Hayes? I think the art is always evolving evolving so probably a movie that hasn't been made yet that's not an answer my favorite movie is yet to be produced that's interesting that's really cool my my favorite team has not played a game yet that's true for me that's true for me as well wow that's my favorite movie of all time yes sir an officer and a gentleman we can buy that so our company just got bought by sirius and so basically we have uh more money than god at this point uh so if you want to buy
Starting point is 00:32:14 the rights we can get officer and a gentleman remake it we do whatever you want to it let's go that is my favorite movie of all time officer and a gentleman we have richard gear in our our theme song did you hear that before no i did not know that he's one of the names listed in the theme song we can get him back we get lou favorite tv shows of all time honeymooners odd couple sanford incident so what a dream for you the new odd couple Couple. The one you were in. The old one. That's why I was in this one. Because a good friend, Eric Tannenbaum, he produced it. And he and I are good friends.
Starting point is 00:32:55 And actually produced some things together. So I'm telling you, we can get this movie made, guys, if we start writing. I'm telling you. I got the connections. You've got the money. Well, let's go. I had meeting with eric a few years ago uh didn't go well i don't think i impressed him we gotta wrap up kenny it has been such a pleasure having you on hollywood handbook jet academy so kevin sent us
Starting point is 00:33:19 earlier uh jetacademy.com which is a domain that is for sale. We actually own it, but it's jetacademycamp.com. You want your kids to get to camp. If you want your kids to be instructed by us, pros and all-stars and NBA champions, or men or women like you, if you're a big kid,
Starting point is 00:33:41 if you're still playing rec ball anywhere, anytime, you need this workout, come get it. It's very in-depth it's very fun you it'll be very enlightening so think of it as a two-hour tv show an hour and a half tv show think of it as that that's what it is we're hollywood bound we should get emmys jet academy camp.com bye Bye. All right. All right, guys. Thanks. Thank you,
Starting point is 00:34:06 Kenny. That was awesome. Really fun. We appreciate it. Okay. So he's gone. I don't see him. I got,
Starting point is 00:34:14 so I, I am sorry that I told him that we had to wrap up. No, you know what? Honestly, I should have said something. Cause when you were saying that, I was like,
Starting point is 00:34:23 Hey, we, you know, we obviously owe our fans more time. We owe Kevin more time with Kenny. And we had him for another 90 minutes. We had a lot more time. I just, I got scared. Look, I'll say it. I got really scared. I think that is very, I think that's really brave to admit. And being brave, brave actually it's not never feeling scared yeah being brave is feeling scared to death pulling the plug on the show wrapping up
Starting point is 00:34:52 and then talking to your friend afterwards when it's safe that's being brave so thank you for saying that you were scared okay i was scared as hell people get scared and i was scared that he wouldn't like me anymore it's obvious he really scared and i was scared that he wouldn't like me anymore it's obvious he really liked me during the show and he didn't like me and he made fun of me and i think that that was actually really helpful for you and i was happy to do that for my friend but when he started to get very personal yeah when he was asking me what my favorite movie was and getting extremely personal and sharing things about himself i got scared as hell i got really scared too and was probably if you had not called it when you called it going to start crying and maybe going to call my parents to come pick me up to just come pick me up i just need to go home i just need to be home i can't be
Starting point is 00:35:45 here i when he asked me what my favorite movie was and i said it was a movie that hadn't been made yet that's because i couldn't think of any movie anymore me neither the only movie that came into my head is something called movie man which i don't think is i don't think that's a movie but but but then you answered truthfully right because it's a movie that hasn't even been made yet movie man so that so that's true and you said movie man and then for him to question that and challenge you i didn't actually say movie man but that is what i was that is the only movie that i i was in my head i was thinking okay what's a movie all right movie man it's not it's not my favorite movie i don't think it is a movie. Right. And you said something that hasn't been made. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:28 So you were honest. And when he challenged you on that and said, that's not an answer, man, I got pissed and I got scared at how mad I was. And I was this close to calling my parents and saying, hey, just pick me up. Their cereals are weird here and like there's some noise and my sleeping bag is wet i don't know why and like i just need you to pick me up that's a nice thing probably about jet academy camp.com because you get eat your own cereal you can bring any cereal and we should say this because they did have more talking points for us on jet academy uh camp.com which is like yeah you could bring your own cereal to the practice when you're getting that work in.
Starting point is 00:37:08 You can run over and grab a bite of any cereal you want from your home, which basically no other camp provides. They sent you the stuff about jetacademycamp.com just before we recorded.
Starting point is 00:37:20 They were like, Kevin, did you get the stuff about jetacademycamp.com? And Kevin's like, no. I almost hung up there. I got so scared because I looked at my inbox. they were like kevin did you get the stuff about jet academy camp.com and kevin's like no i almost hung up there i got so scared because i looked at my inbox it was just a photo i drew and there was no emails from them and i almost hung up on you guys a photo you drew yeah it was us hanging out it's called picnic with the boys and i Boys I'm sorry for you Kevin
Starting point is 00:37:45 because I know you really wanted to tell Kenny that you finished Lost yeah I was so mad he was talking about TV too my favorite thing he's asked your favorite TV show and it would have been very easy for me to say Kevin just finished Lost
Starting point is 00:37:57 Kevin please summarize the series Lost opening shot Jack opens his eyes they dilate a little and what was a little bit sad was saeed's when they show everyone in the church it's saeed's uh like newer girlfriend and not um the one from the flashbacks and i was like so that you're cutting from the very first there wasn't there wasn't nad, but there was the sister. But she had a great new hairstyle, so you have to be... And this is what I was going to tell Kenny about.
Starting point is 00:38:32 The sister's new hairstyle. Well, you had said before we even started recording, of like, guys, create some space for me, because if Kenny mentions TV, I'm going to explain the smoke monster. You said clear the lane, lane specifically for me to drive and throw down land my plane of knowledge what so what's the smoke monster and again i'm really sorry i would be so great to have kenny here he was so fun this episode since he left sucks i'm pissed i'm really bored and i'm looking sucks and i'm looking to call my
Starting point is 00:39:06 parents and ask them to pick me up from this episode because ever since kenny left i'm just not having fun did you get the other like the stuff about the camp is there other stuff we should say kevin should we start our own camp no this is always kevin's idea you're in a rut you're in a rut it's gotten stale kevin he actually was kind of saying to me like you kind of froze up early on i know and so uh kenny and i just kept talking and he was like where'd that guy go i thought he was really cool i thought he was really nice wow oh god that's so awesome to hear and it really makes me sad that you thought he didn't like you because he thought you were like he thought you were awesome oh wow i didn't get that impression like he was sort of clowning on me and like kind of doubling back to like
Starting point is 00:39:55 insult my mic setup and everything and i guess i felt like he thought he could do that but it's very obvious like a dork yeahork. He's asking if you're true. Yeah, your mic has a washcloth wrapped around it. That's true. It's like, okay, can we be professional about this? And also, you don't know what people's lives
Starting point is 00:40:17 and what their journey is. You have no idea what people are. Everyone is climbing their own mountain and you don't know what's happening for them. And if you see a man with a washcloth wrapped around his microphone, you don't have notion one of what he's going through and the battle he's fighting.
Starting point is 00:40:38 So keep that in mind to everyone out there. Or if their ideas suck. It's not that they suck it's just the same shit same fucking idea it's just a rut that's a nice rut suck yeah what you've done with the rut is amazing you have like you've made it just very like cozy yeah like a hatch if you have to be in a rut which apparently you do um i would say this is one of the better ones to be in. How do I get out of my rut? Never mind.
Starting point is 00:41:10 Yeah, what we're going to talk about you this whole time? We just had a thing with Kenny Smith. We just recorded with Kenny the Jet Smith. And this is how you ruin flagrant. I know what this is about. This is like everything that's going on over at Stitcher. This is like, this is your double that's going on over at stitcher this is like this is your double tapping flagrant ones our nba patreon and saying oh well you're getting now you're doing the
Starting point is 00:41:33 basketball guy in the main show right when when he said uh officer and a gentleman was his favorite movie kevin i do think you should cut out what you said right after this just i because kenny's cool and he was our guest and it was nice of him to do the show and i do think it was kind of messed up that you said hope she sees this bro i didn't understand that i mean i'm laughing because like I was so confused you have to cut that Kevin that was so weird what were you talking about I don't know I'm in a rut
Starting point is 00:42:11 he was upset and it just that is not the rut that was like I really wish Kevin would crawl back into the rut because you have never said that before about anything else yeah I was searching around for the rut in response to Kennyny the jetsmith saying his favorite movie is officer and a gentleman that's the first time you say hope
Starting point is 00:42:31 she sees this bro come on kevin that's juvenile it's obtuse it's just completely out of line what is not your role what does that mean why did you even say it i guess i should start there i was hoping that that she would see this bro yes come on that's not an answer now i sound like that that's all we know who's she the movie she's the movie i want the movie to see his beautiful response that the move that the movie loves oh that he loves the movie okay it didn't feel it didn't feel like your intentions were that pure the way you said it sort of out of the side of your mouth almost like you didn't mean to say it out loud just it just went i hope she sees this bro you have to delete it we got to take it out don't let this be a they forgot to delete it.com type situation for us what's up where's the um
Starting point is 00:43:34 my uh the the stitcher what stitcher you're, welcome to Sirius. Probably today, if you haven't gotten it already. Today, it's 6.16 p.m. It's 9.16 on the East Coast. Who's on the East Coast? They may be headquartered there. I believe one Mr. Howard P. Stern is actually one of the most significant shareholders of the company. Collab of the Century is going to be you three. Can you imagine? And actually, that's
Starting point is 00:44:08 something I would pitch, but I wouldn't because I'm not in a rut anymore. Are there any shows that Kenny was like, no, I won't do those? Oh, yeah. Please. Yeah? Which ones? Maybe Don't. You pitched him Maybe Don't? Kevin. No wonder
Starting point is 00:44:24 you said to hope she sees this, bro. You're Kevin. No wonder you said, hope she sees this, bro. You're pissed. No wonder you're so salty, man. Move on. Now it all makes sense. Grow up. Kenny Smith doesn't want to do maybe don't. Come on.
Starting point is 00:44:36 He was going to join the lowercase c comedy theater with me and you song. Is that from the show? That's a segment we have. What's the segment? The lowercase segment we have. What's the segment? The Lower KC Comedy Theater. Lower KC? I thought you said Louis KC. I thought it was a play on Louis CK.
Starting point is 00:44:56 Is the T in theater capitalized? Of course, because we respect the theater. That's a different segment. Uppercase T, Lowercase c, theater.com. This can't become Maybe Don't segments. This cannot. This show cannot become Maybe Don't. On the Kenny Smith episode,
Starting point is 00:45:14 we cannot literally like four minutes out of the afterglow of Kenny Smith gracing us with his presence, being fun, energetic, funny, and cool, devolve into talking about maybe don't segments. So charming. What a cool guy. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:45:34 That ruled. Get him. See if you will come back right now. Get it back. Kevin, ask, ask his team if he'll come back right now. I think they blocked me.
Starting point is 00:45:46 On what? Reddit. You got him off Reddit? You messaged them on Reddit again, just like you did with Scott Aukervid to get this job? You do all your correspondence on Reddit still? R-Team Kenny. Your main email is your Redditdit messages kevin no sweetie no kevin you can't communicate with kenny smith's team via reddit we cannot reddit dm kenny smith's team that can't be
Starting point is 00:46:20 how we do it i'd rather discuss maybe don't segments than have you in the Reddit DMs of Kenny Smith's team. Kevin. That worked? That's how we got him? That's the only way he would do it. Is if you send his team a Reddit message. that really surprises me kevin but that's the only that really surprises me that that's the only way that he was willing to do it
Starting point is 00:46:58 that that's their preferred method of correspondence as well is shocking with you i go okay he's a weird guy you know but for kenny and his entire team which we met two of them to insist that they only want to talk over reddit that's very surprising to me but i guess good job thank you did kenny do off book just their ads he did off books ads yeah he sang the ads he did the stings for comedy bang bang he went that's the take them to
Starting point is 00:47:52 break the bumpers that guy must be getting tired I could see why they would need to bring Kenny Smith to do those stings that guy's lips must be hurting from so many ads. You could hear that guy get it.
Starting point is 00:48:09 Now it's like every time it's like, okay, here we go. You got this. We can't be talking about the comedy bang bang. You got this. We can't. We can't. Are they Kenny Smith episode?
Starting point is 00:48:37 Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Did he say he would come back? What'd he say?
Starting point is 00:48:42 What's he saying? What does team say? What's Reddit saying now? Did you get a freaking red envelope they responded loading message that okay that is they're that's a great stall i've used that i've used that sometimes when i don't know how to respond to something or when i've got an email where i'm getting called out on something particularly egregious i've done i will my my first thing I do is I write back loading message and like an ellipses. And that usually buys me like a day or two where then when they go to respond to me and say, hey, I didn't get your message. I see that you responded to me. And then I go like,
Starting point is 00:49:23 hey, did you respond to my message? Did you read it? Because I'm getting a loading message thing back from you. Yeah. And if you have a paper due for school, you can say, hey, professor, turning in my paper now. Here it is. And then below that, you type school paper downloading. Below that, you type error downloaded.
Starting point is 00:49:46 Error file corrupt and then you say in the top part okay going to sleep now enjoy the paper obviously it's night time so I it's very normal for me to be going to sleep right after I hit send and I'm a heavy sleeper PS do you guys want to know the
Starting point is 00:50:05 other movie selections I had picked for Kenny? I can't believe American Psycho in that scene was... He did a great job, by the way. He crushed it. That scene offered him absolutely nothing to do. The next one,
Starting point is 00:50:21 Any Given Sunday, sort of. He did a great job with that as well he said the exact thing that was in the script it turned out and i didn't want to like freak him out it seemed like he was getting really he got scared and so i did back off the fact that he had said the exact but he did do it he did but i did not want to see him scared especially after we learned about the poltergeist curse that had infected kenny's pictures shrek 2 really pissed him off yep that scene was like not interesting at all the potions factory scene no one remembers he flew off the handle it was a bunch of different characters talking there was nothing to respond to
Starting point is 00:50:56 there was nothing really interesting to watch um he lost his mind uh we had to calm him down after that. Now You See Me 2, he was game for, but after the incredible start, you basically did everything you could and you put in extraordinary work to ruin what could have been an incredible episode. Okay, here's the other ones I had. Chappy, which is hard because the scene is very action-based j daniel atlas is that what it was yeah you said jesse j atlas well that's
Starting point is 00:51:37 good too and i thought he might be conflating the character with the actor. The actor's name is Jesse. Well, conflating him with Jesse Eisenberg, the actor, and Juicy J. And Juicy J. Jesse J, the singer, and Juicy J, the rapper. But then, J. Daniel Atlas, the character's actual name, does
Starting point is 00:52:00 sneak in there at the end of Jesse J. Atlas. Atlas got in there as well. Because I saw Kenny looking confused. He's like, Jesse J. Atlas, okay? Moving on. No, he was very kind to not dig in on that and it was J. Daniel Atlas.
Starting point is 00:52:17 Hey, swing and a miss from the Clem dog. It happens to everybody. You're in a rut. Bitch, shut the fuck up. Goodbye. Hollywood Handbook. That was a Hate Gum podcast.
