This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Lisa, tell them about our new show.
We have a new podcast.
It's called Don't Lie to Me.
I'm Lexi Youanu.
We're two best friends,
22 years apart, but so close at heart.
And I'm Lisa Di Giulio, the old one,
which means we have wildly different references,
occasionally different opinions,
and at this point in my 50s, I've lived it all.
Now in my 30s, being the founder of new shoes,
good taste is my business.
Listen on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
The WNBA playoffs are here, and Good Game with Sarah Spain is the only daily podcast
that'll keep you up to date on all the action.
We'll make sure you're the smartest fan at the bar by bringing you interviews with some of the best minds in basketball,
including your favorite coaches and players.
No one cares what we did last year, if anything, that's a bigger target on our back.
Want to know what's really going on in the WNBA?
We got you.
Listen to Good Game with Sarah Spain on the I.
Hi Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
In February of 2024, celebrated illustrator and children's book author, Patra Mathers,
and her husband Michael, mailed letters to dozens of friends and family members to let them know they had died by suicide.
Dear honies, this is goodbye. By the time you get this letter, both Petra and I will be dead.
Next stop, Wonderland. Why did they do it? And what did it do to the people they left behind?
Listen to Death of an Artist on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
On Big Lives, we take a single cultural icon.
People like Jane Fonda, George Michael, Little Richard.
And we pull apart the story behind the image.
Discovering forgotten interviews that change exactly how we see these giants of our culture.
We're here for the messy, the brilliant, the human version of our heroes.
I'm Emmanuel Jochi.
I'm Kai Wright.
And this is Big Lives.
Listen to Big Lives on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Do you want to be like, um, sorry.
I, this always happens when I'm on Zoom.
Like, I'm interrupting without real.
Like, there's a delay or something.
It's okay.
I just wanted to say, you know, immediately before we started recording, obviously we're
always checking the levels and we're doing the kind of like technical side of the show that's
boring.
We don't usually make the listener deal with that.
But Kevin did say there's a little feedback in terms of, I guess, one of the microphones was giving him a sound he didn't want.
But I have a little feedback for him that he should shut the fuck up.
Wow.
I have a little feedback for Kevin, and it's don't ever talk to my friends that way.
Especially Rachel.
I really appreciate that.
Especially Rachel.
And you sometimes say that he should feed on this back, which is, nash, naturally.
last year to me.
I don't think it's appropriate for what he said today.
That he has to feed on this back.
Is the back the ass or is the back?
Yeah, I turn around and I point right at the center of that sweet peach.
And I say this, this is the back I'm referring to.
Just so there's no confusion.
That's nice of you to clarify.
Because he might be confused.
And then Kevin will say, right,
damn how'd you stuff all that in them jeans you know and then i will say what would i say um you could be like
well i use the belt to stuff it down to shove it down to it got a pull an extra tight belt right
then he goes but where'd all that come from papa how do they cram all that jam
And I say, oh, they, he said, where all that come from?
I say, millennial kid, Richie.
Squats and Jesus, baby. Squats and Jesus.
That's what I always say to Kevin when he says, where'd all that come from.
Do you think squats help?
Because I'm not really seeing that.
Right.
Jesus is what I'm missing.
Because I'm doing squats.
Mm-hmm.
But not Jesus.
They're not helping.
Not at all.
Are they hurting?
You know, it's hard to say because if I were to stop doing it.
It is getting worse, but you don't know that that's why.
Right.
Well, there's a part.
part of my ass that's missing.
Mm-hmm.
There's a chunk out of it.
Yeah, on the side.
Uh-oh.
So...
A piece of the side is missing.
Yeah, I gotta figure that out.
Mm-hmm.
You just woke up one day?
Genuinely, I woke up one day.
Big hole in my ass cheek on the side.
Mm-hmm.
I wish I could show you guys.
So I am actually going to not see that.
Mm-hmm.
Right.
That's fine.
I don't really feel comfortable showing it, but it would be helpful, obviously, if there was a visual aid.
You just said you wish you could show me.
I wish.
I'm going to use my wish.
Everyone gets one wish per episode.
I'll use my wish now, which is very early in the episode for me to use the wish.
And I'm going to wish that you don't show us.
Did my wish count?
Just because it's not appropriate for the show.
I want to change my wish.
Interesting.
You get to change it once, but not.
Like right after you do it.
Hayes is the wish master.
So he,
he doesn't make the wish.
Uh,
and one of us asked you.
Yeah.
And like,
we just have to let,
let the wish sit for a minute.
Mm.
Before you can change it.
Could be interesting for the Broadway show.
Broadway baby Rachel Collie is here,
by the way,
everybody.
Hellen of.
Give it up.
Give it up.
Give it up.
Introduce.
She has a show,
she went to edit.
Brough Fringe.
Yep.
And she made the sale.
The show went to Broadway.
Let's say off Broadway.
A lot of false hope.
Right.
That doesn't happen very much.
No.
Actually, never heard of it happening before.
Yeah.
Mm-hmm.
A lot of people trod over there in their tartan.
Is that how it's pronounced?
It's the fringe festival.
It's the fringe festival.
Okay.
I had assumed it was named after Gustavo Fring from Breaking Bad.
And I thought, how amazing to have a festival celebrating one of the finer acting performances of my lifetime.
And I know you guys are up on stage.
You're all acting.
And I had been calling it the Fring Festival.
So that's a little bit of egg on my face.
But this is why we do the show.
They say it different there.
It's like it looks like Edinburgh, right?
And if you're stupid and you look at it, you say Edinburgh.
Yeah.
But it's Edinburgh, a Fring.
Fringer Feast.
Fringer Feast.
Yeah.
Edinburgh a Fringe feast.
Fringer Feast.
Fringer Feast.
And this is why we do the show.
Because, you know, in a vacuum, I can't figure this stuff out.
And when we come together, we educate each other and hopefully...
Others.
Kevin, as well.
Yeah.
Do you have, we can, like, keep it going, or do you have, like, any frosting or something?
What is what are you talking about? I wish I could keep the bit going but I genuinely don't know.
Just like do you have like some frosting? Do you like did you bring any, do you have like a bag or something? Do you have any?
Y'all got any frosting? I brought my backpack with a tag still on it.
Does it have frosting in it? No. It's fine. It's fine if you don't. That has sugar in it. Okay. That's all got frosting.
Not what I was asking for. Richie, do you have any frosting?
Are you going to make me fucking dance for it or like
My kids ate for the last of it
Your kids ate it
You have kids?
Aw
You have kids?
Everybody has kids
Yes, I have kids
That's why I don't have any for us to do it?
So I'm the only person with no kids
I know you have kids
Because I'm always watching the videos
Hell yeah
You almost get out the door
Right?
this is like
the fucking damn lurker in the bed
a dad thing I guess
but as you're almost
like it's you're getting ready to shut the door
behind you and they're like
where's my flossing
oh yeah
and your whole bag
I go why is my briefcase open
oh and then I see
there's a little crack in the briefcase
the leather briefcase and they've got a long straw
sticking into my frosting bag
they take a zip that your zip lock
They cut a little piece off the corner
and now it's a pipette.
Yeah.
Straight to the dome.
And then they spell something out
with the pipe butt.
They say, Dad.
Yeah, it says thank you.
Unbelievable.
Unreal.
Having kids sounds amazing.
Just from this anecdote.
Until you have this cupcake
that literally has no frosting on it at all.
Yeah.
It sucks, man.
But what's up?
The show's like weird or...
It has to be kind of weird.
Oh, my show?
Yeah, you got a show on Broadway, right?
So it's alt in some way.
It's basically weird as fuck.
Yeah, okay.
And it's upsetting.
We fuck with that, actually.
Really?
We actually will fuck with shit like that.
I never would have guessed.
I'm doing dark stuff. I'm actually planning on seeing Digger.
That's how sick I am.
Wow.
I'm actually going to see it
And we like that it's crazy
And like actually that it's bad
The bad part is good to me
That is good
And it's supposed to be like that
Right
And is it long as well
I like how long it is
That actually makes it better to me
That works for you
I haven't seen it yet
But when I see it
I'm not gonna be able to find any cuts
I like the long parts
I like the parts of it even
That are long
Wow
and it's probably loud maybe
depending on where you're sitting in the theater
you guys sit right next to the speaker
you can get a
blanket and just pull it over the top of your head
and under your chin
and kind of like pull it really tight
so then it's actually not that loud
oh okay
is your show loud rachel
um
there's one part where I start yelling
a bit
and you could say it's loud
but I'm a professional so I know to pull the mic away.
But if I were unprofessional, I'd yell right into the mic.
And who are you yelling at?
Oh, just probably my dad.
Mm-hmm.
So.
Probably.
Yeah.
We'll see.
We'll have to see.
We'll have to find out, but here she is yelling at her dad.
Yep.
And it's like, we just told you that our kids are stealing our frosting.
And that's very triggering for us.
Right.
I'm sorry.
A dad being yelled at is very triggering for Richie and Hayes and myself.
Does Kevin have kids?
Kevin has a little
Like
He thinks it's a kid
I think it is actually like a little
Beaver or something
Yeah
It's always like building
Little huts and things
Really?
In the background, yeah
It's like a Kevin's got a goddamn
fucking EWalk in its house
I think it actually
They're so proud of it.
He thinks it's some kind of kid.
But it's like, it can't be.
Right.
But it builds a lot of nice little huts and it does a lot of like little projects.
Like it's got like, um,
like a living super tools I've never seen before.
Mm-hmm.
Oh, tools.
Yeah, it has these special tools and like machines.
But it's an adult, whatever it is.
Okay.
It's not a kid version of whatever that.
I believe it's ancient.
I mean, adult is not even properly giving credit.
This thing has a knowledge that goes far beyond human understanding.
Yeah.
That sounds maybe better than a kid.
I mean, it depends what you want out of it.
But if he is looking for all good, there's no perfect version of it.
Okay.
You know, it's like whatever you get, that's what you were supposed to get.
Right.
And so whether it's like a kid.
that you had in the traditional way
with your family or if it's like a creature
that you found
he found it. He found it. You discovered
beneath your home. Yeah.
EWalk's always greener on the
other side. You know, it's like, yes, it
sounds better, but then he may be jealous.
Oh, we have a human child.
Yeah, who can draw you pictures.
Sounds like this guy could draw pictures
though, too, if he has tools.
Yeah, he draws schematics.
He's planning something. He's designing something.
I see.
I was on a plane on the way here and I walked.
Here we go.
Sorry.
Oh, yeah.
Go ahead.
Flex on them.
My bad.
This is my favorite kind of bit.
When it's like, when it's like I was on the way here.
Uh-huh.
And this happens.
It's like, holy fucking shit.
This just happened.
Right.
It genuinely did.
I don't know what you want me to say.
No, that is what I want you to say.
I love this shit.
Okay.
I love when it's like I was walking up.
Right.
To the stage just now.
Yeah.
And this entire shit just happened to me.
Yeah.
Like, oh my God, this is a fresh eat.
Yeah.
It's like if you guys had known me five minutes ago, you would have seen this happening to me.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Damn, lucky me.
Wow, yeah.
It gives me a rush to think about.
Well, basically, what I wanted to say, if that's okay, is that.
Yes, we like it.
We want you to say it.
Okay.
This is our favorite part.
I'm going to stop talking now.
I can feel you want to say something.
She asked if it was okay.
I did get permission, but seriously, if you have something to say, you say it whenever you want.
I'm in your house.
Say one thing.
Yeah.
Let's John say one thing before you say yours.
About planes or like, sometimes when someone says something, it reminds you of something that happened to you, right?
Well, I just did our last episode from a plane.
I don't know if you know about this.
You're kidding.
How?
Yeah.
You're not supposed to talk on the plane.
I know.
I felt pretty guilty the whole time.
Does nobody talk in that story that you're about to tell?
No one talks.
Wow.
It's all visual.
Respect.
Yeah.
I had an internal monologue I can tap into.
Thank you for following the rules.
You're welcome.
But you had internet where you could join the podcast?
On the plane?
It wasn't one of the flying planes.
It was a grounded plane.
Like a big car.
It sort of become a cafe.
Almost like a Preezyan cafe.
It was a sea plane and the sea is for cafe.
Awesome.
Okay.
See, I'm so glad we did it like this
where you got to say something that it reminded you of
when she started her story.
Yeah.
It should go like that.
Always.
Did you have anything?
You should start something?
No, I like to watch.
Okay.
I like to see it all play out.
Yeah.
But I like to see it all play out.
a conversation, like watching a conversation
where someone starts to say something.
He's in the cuck chair.
And the other person.
Whoa.
And mine looks like his.
So what does that say?
The chair.
He said he likes to watch.
I think it's more positional
and like participation level.
It's not really.
The actual physical chair.
Yeah.
All right.
Sorry for,
sorry for bringing that into the fold.
I don't even know what the chair would
maybe it would come with
opera glasses that like come out of the
arm
right
yeah
but otherwise
grueling waiting to hear
this plane story
too
the further we get away
I don't think I'm gonna say it
it's the anticipation
is building
the audience is about to burst
I just don't know if it's
go ahead and it just happened
I know basically are we
you guys are okay
because you had said schematic
yep
yeah
And what had happened was this guy was on the plane, looking at schematics of the plane, and a building that in a city that we were flying to.
And I was like, this is it in terms of my life is about to end.
What were you going to do?
I was completely, I had accepted it.
I'm ready to go whenever.
You're sort of the opposite of Mark Wahlberg.
Yeah.
I'm like, all right.
You're like, if I had been on that plane, shit would have gone down a lot smoother.
Yeah, I would have just let it happen, guys.
What's meant to be is meant to be.
So your thinking was that he had it all planned out.
And then he was like, I'm going to forget what the building looks like.
Well, I was like.
I'm going to do the wrong one.
And also like, which way am I supposed to go on the plane?
Yeah.
It's so crazy to be cramming for that test.
You know what I mean?
It's like, I don't want to end up in the back.
this last night, but I just didn't have time
and so I just brought it on the plane.
I'll just figure it out in the air.
Yeah.
And it's like, oh, you, that's the kind of thing that,
like, you really can't procrastinate on.
No.
Because it's very hard to figure it out while you fly.
And honestly, maybe he was going to do something
and he realized he wasn't prepared enough.
He wasn't ready.
It's like next time.
He like postponed the test, basically.
Yeah.
Maybe he saw you and he said,
oh, I didn't think that the star of hot.
hospital hour was going to be on the plane.
Yeah.
And he said, well, maybe he had been at the Edinburgh.
It's possible.
We have to at least let her live that dream.
Yeah.
And give Chris Fleming a chance to flex his directorial chops.
Right.
That's really nice.
What is something you learned from Chris the director?
What would surprise us about Chris as a director?
He's a friend of the show, been on the show.
Really? Once or more?
Not only has he been on it once or more.
He is one of the ones who agrees sometimes when Kevin is like,
can you come on as a little surprise for a surprise episode?
We used to do that.
We haven't done it in three or four hundred episodes.
Kevin has stuff going on as we described.
And was Kevin the other guy?
Kevin was that other guy.
And where is he?
That was Kevin.
to be.
It used to be.
Sorry to hear about that.
We had heard...
Well, you know, Obama's office is close by.
Close by to...
Like, his Hollywood higher ground.
Am I allowed to talk about that?
Or something bad might happen?
Is she allowed to talk about that, Hayes?
Let's...
I mean, I had heard that your public system's going to be on the Zoom.
Do we have the publicist on the Zoom?
I didn't know about that.
Do we have the publicist on the Zoom?
Maybe you could use your wish.
to wish that it's okay to talk about Obama on higher ground.
I want to hang on to my wish.
It is okay with me.
I just want to make sure if we do have the publicist on the Zoom
that we are clearing it like for you.
This is about you and the show.
Right.
That's really nice to do.
And now we're talking about like endangering Obama.
Like I don't like it's like it's okay.
That's what you want to do.
That's okay.
If it's okay with the publicist.
We're doxing Obama like in the middle of the show.
Like is that really?
Is that the type of podcast?
you guys want to write.
I understand.
I don't care about us.
What's the publicist name?
You know, I'd have to check my email.
Not very.
Oh, oh, there she is.
My wife's name is Grace.
Aw.
Awesome.
So cool.
It's great.
I'm saying,
steer clear,
but I'll check in with the right to
is more informed
to give a go of this.
Thanks for checking.
Thanks, Grace.
Thank you, Grace.
That was really nice.
Yes, nice to meet you.
Nice to meet you, too.
Nice to meet you, too.
So could we erase the tapes on that?
Or how does it work?
So that's the only thing is like whatever you do say on the podcast does become part of the official record.
And Casey's always recording it as well.
Like separately from the recording we're making, Casey, our engineer is like sort of in like a stenographer type.
There's a hard copy.
Yeah.
So we can't walk back what you've said,
but we can stop you from further damage.
And this is the kind of stuff that actually like really does numbers now.
The stuff in between the press when Tom Cruise is like,
oh, like he talked to me a little after.
Right.
You know what I mean?
Yeah.
And you basically right now, saving Obama.
Yeah.
Is going to be incredible numbers.
Huge.
So.
And Grace gets to like.
For her career, it's like, yeah, I actually helped save Obama.
Right.
I'm the publicist who saved Obama's life.
She's America's publicist.
Yeah.
Democracy's publicist.
We're all her client.
Uh-huh.
And what's the painting behind you?
I'm so glad you asked.
I am crazy for fruit these days.
I'm cuckoo for fru-du puffs, you know, and I just.
absolutely love the sweet taste of the flesh beneath the skin of the fruit.
And so what I've done is I've commissioned a bowl of orange greens.
And they're, I mean, I wish I could pull them out of the painting and eat them, you know?
Right.
And the color scheme is classic.
And does it feel almost like you're inside the painting now?
It's really getting close to it.
Yeah, I don't know how you're doing that.
And those are oranges, not apples?
One thing I love about art, and I'm sure I would feel the same way about Hospital Hour, is there's not a single interpretation of it, that you, for better or worse, bring your own life experience to it.
So I don't know if it's because I'm craving an orange or because the color is orange or what it is.
But I see it and I think that's an orange reen.
But you saw Apple.
And it's for you to investigate why that is or what, you know, brought your mind there.
Yeah.
But Hayes basically tiny grapefruit or a huge grape.
A rotten plum, a giant grape, yes.
And so that's one of the really cool things about art.
And we do, we do like to talk about that.
Hospital hour is the name of the show.
There's stand-up.
We get a little serious maybe sometimes.
There's a little, I would say I just have, there's sometimes I say, listen, here's what's going on.
You're in the hospital?
I've been in the hospital a lot.
Is the horse in this one as well?
Who's the horse?
The horse in the hospital?
What are you?
you talking about?
Remember the horse
in the hospital?
These kids.
These fucking kids.
The horse doesn't belong
in the hospital.
I'm sorry.
Unless it's a horse hospital.
That's kind of part of it.
Really?
It's like they just
Well, why don't you educate me?
They just showed up one day.
They said,
Here I am.
I'm doing this now.
They said,
Well, maybe you should watch this.
Here's how tall I am.
I can see the whole city from here.
and we said, well, look down under your feet.
You're actually standing on the shoulders of some giants.
Well, I'm really upset to not know what you're talking about.
John Mullaney.
Oh, my God.
Everybody's in LA.
He invented this horse that was in the hospital,
and it was crashing around.
It wasn't supposed to be there.
Exactly.
It was doing crazy things.
Exactly.
Okay.
And you weren't even allowed to judge any specific action of the horse,
because just the horse being in the hospital was actually the greater crisis.
And any specifics inside of that couldn't be shocking to you.
And do you know who that horse was?
Would you like to guess?
Sea biscuits.
No.
Police horse.
No, it's not actually a horse.
Is that a horse on your hat?
I'll give you a hint.
I want her to do more guessing, though, so don't give too much of a hit.
You said it's not actually a horse?
It's not actually a horse.
Richard kind.
No.
That's not the relationship that they...
I see.
And it's a person.
And this was from before that also.
Oh, my God.
I'm so sorry.
It's like, what am I supposed to say?
Nothing existed before 2023.
The horse...
I mean, I don't...
Give your hint.
Give your hint, Sean.
China.
It's Trump.
It was a misdemeanor.
Mr. President Donald Trump.
You're kidding.
Yes.
That was the horse.
And when he reveals that,
and he's like, and actually this was Mr. President Donald Trump by the entire time.
Has been Mr. President Trump all along.
It doesn't sound like Malaney.
Hard cut to black.
It doesn't sound like.
He's not, he doesn't talk about politics, does he?
Well, maybe it doesn't sound like the John Malaney, you know.
Right.
It's a millennia of a different era.
Yes.
The new one.
The smaller one.
He doesn't talk about politics because it's all politics.
And he deals in metaphor, reflection, you know, these sort of high-minded literary structures
that actually end up being, yes, about politics, because politics encompass what?
humans. It's like when you were trying to get Obama
Merk earlier. We're not supposed to talk about that.
Sorry. It's okay. I'm looking out for you now.
Sorry.

Lisa, we should tell them about our new show.
Oh my God, Lexi.
We have a new podcast.
It's called Don't Lie to Me.
I'm Lexi Youanu.
We're two best friends, 22 years apart, but so close at heart.
And I'm Lisa Di Giulio, the old one,
which means we have wildly different references,
occasionally different opinions,
and at this point in my 50s, I've lived it all.
I'm not going to get anyone fighting.
That is wild.
I learned that about you today.
Now in my 30s, being the founder of new shoes,
good taste is my business,
and I've always got something to say.
If men were just honest about this,
they would be so much more peace in the world.
We're going to talk about dating, relationships,
beauty, getting older, and a little wiser.
We're best friends, but we don't always agree.
Because you told us how accommodating you are.
Obviously, I would do what I think I could do to fight the fight,
but there's only so much fight I can fight.
Don't lie to me.
Don't lie to me.
Don't lie to me.
Don't lie to me.
Don't lie to me.
Liar.
Listen on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts,
or wherever you get your podcast.
I don't really care.
Hey, what's up y'all?
It's Questlove.
And on the Questlove show, I've been sitting down with some really interesting,
interesting people, and I've got two recent episodes you should check out.
I caught up with my good friend Jojo to talk about her music, her career, and what she's
been up to.
Don't invite me to karaoke.
I'm going to make it weird.
Someone's going to try to sing, leave get out, or too little, too late, or baby to you.
Oh, no.
And I'm going to be like, okay, cool.
I also caught up with Wildo 267 for a conversation that covered his story, his perspective,
and plenty more.
I don't even call it cheat day.
That's a life day.
I'm not doing nothing.
Don't try to be slick.
just go Sunday. Go Wednesday. This is what you do.
Sleep later. Make a reservation for the rest of the round later.
Just chill. Listen to the music you want to listen to.
Just enjoy it. It's going to be all right. Nothing's going to have you.
You're going to wake up Wednesday. I'm like, ah, and you're going to feel better.
And those are just two of the many recent episodes of the Questlove show.

Peace.
Bloomberg's Big Take podcast has everything you need to know about the most expensive midterms in U.S. history, like the money being spent to control the Senate.
Everyone has been waiting to see how Trump will spend his big war chest. He was sitting on nearly half a billion dollars.
How candidates are rewriting their party's playbooks.
You have El Zaid, who is a former health official, giving rise to a lot of the economic populism.
I'm wondering where you see this sort of definition of the working class going from here.
Well, it's essentially now everyone, right?
50% of college educated workers consider themselves working class.
50% of high earners do.
And how big business is throwing its money into the ring.
Gambling super PACs, sports betting companies, there's obviously the AI super PACs.
Don't just witness history unfold.
Understand it.
They redistricted Texas.
We're the Mac Daddy.
And it's going to backfire.
Catch the Big Take podcast every weekday.
And tune in Wednesdays for the latest on the midterms.
Listen to the Big Take on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts,

So I'm relieved.
You're saying that you do not have a section in hospital hour
that's about a horse in the hospital,
and it's Mr. President Donald Trump.
No, Trump is not mentioned in my show, for better or worse.
Okay.
And I understand.
And I don't like horses.
You have business to do, I understand.
Yeah.
Republicans buy tickets too, right?
Well, you'd think.
and that is a really that would have been really bad.
You think they're sneaking in? Do you think they're sneaking in?
Yes. I have a couple. Do not allow in
for the theater. But it's Republicans and Democrats. That type of stuff is across the aisle.
Don't allow this person in.
The Republicans, they sneak up in the rafters, you know.
They find a little window up. They climb the ladder in the alley and they just find a little window
and they just like take in the show.
Well, reach down and grab some popping quacks.
My show is in the building that Sleep No More was in, which is a very immersive space.
And so there's a lot of places for Republicans or again, Democrats, independence even to hide and become part of the show without me even knowing.
And does yours have mask or odd elements?
If people come, I will incorporate it in mask.
But I will not be wearing a mask.
In the physical sense, of course, there are moments where the mask lifts.
It has to come on.
You have a given a little peek.
Yes.
Not too much.
Sleep no more.
Does that mean that it is an immersive experience where, like, you are going around and talking to everybody?
You mean in my show?
It's saying, great party, huh?
Oh, boy.
You know, do you hear about...
Nobody gets poisoned.
Do you hear about the bride?
That type of thing.
That's not what I'm doing.
And I never...
And people leave the party and they're just like, she didn't get to me.
I guess she was talking to other people tonight.
She didn't end up talking to me at this one.
I guess I'll have to come back.
None of the performers.
I don't know if I got a bad seat, but where I was...
I didn't hear anything.
anything.
I was actually even far away from the conversations
the performance of having with other people.
I couldn't even sort of
vicariously experience it.
To me it was just a
normal party below average
because
I didn't know anyone there.
You had to pay to go.
I had to pay so much money.
$45.
But isn't that what Sleep No More was
where they would go around?
I never saw it, but I do know people
who went and were like,
I was just waiting for six hours basically.
Yeah, okay.
Which, you know.
I had a friend who went to sleep no more and ended up in sort of the same group.
You end up in these little groups, you know, you're like, let's stick together.
And in his group was Aaron Paul.
And the Sleep No More experience.
Is he dead?
Is Aaron Paul dead?
Yeah.
These fucking kids.
Grace, you want to handle a little bit of us.
You're thinking of us.
You're thinking of Aaron Burr.
You're completely right.
You're completely right.
These theater kids.
And I'm thinking Aaron Burr got shot, but no, I'm thinking of Alexander Hamilton.
You're thinking of Hamilton.
Yes, your friend for Broadway.
So they ended up in the same cluster, and the Sleave No More experience was so transformative for Aaron Paul that they'd,
became friends after.
He was like, let's hang out after this and like talk about sleep no more and let's stay friends
because of the crucible at which our friendship was formed.
Yeah.
The show Sleep No More.
Wow.
Can you do that?
I don't think so.
But I wish you luck.
I think I can.
I wish you luck create.
You, Rachel, if I come from your show on the same night as Aaron Paul.
Yeah.
Are we, am I getting digits?
Yeah, you are
Because you know what?
My show is
People leave upset
Okay
And then they want to talk about it
With each other
And they're all upset
It's a common enemy, isn't it?
They're upset at what has happened in my life
Mm-hmm
Okay
Okay
And some of them say
Oh, I relate to this
And then they find each other in the lobby
Oh yes, this thing happened to me too
And they're upset about that
They could be
Okay, you just said
that they were.
Well, let's leave a little bit of room for different interpretations of what I could have said.
Okay.
Well, it's much like the painting of...
Exactly.
Some kind of fruit.
So let's extend that generosity to me as well.
And so everyone in the audience is friends after your show.
It is possible.
They become friends with each other.
Whether or not they liked the show, they will hang out after all of them.
Are they staying in the theater?
The theater has a great hangout space.
I'm not kidding.
Rachel, I think this is a cool idea.
So when people filter out of the show,
there's sort of like velvet rope like two different sections.
And one side is labeled liked and one is didn't liked.
And people can go like find their tribe post show.
Right.
And sort of fill in.
those zones. And you also can
have somebody with like a little like clicker
like counting like how many people didn't like
it and you know kind of
and then maybe in those zones
they play the game where if you're attracted
to someone you pop the balloon.
So I don't know this game
I've been out of the game
for a little while now so I don't know
what the kids are doing. I see.
It's just you stand in a row
with a balloon and if they like you.
In purgatory yes. Isn't that
where the game usually happens? It's an
entirely white space.
Yes, you know what I'm talking about.
You've seen the videos.
And then,
I never really understood
why they were popping the balloon
if that was good or bad.
If they have a penis,
it's the boner popping the balloon.
The boner is doing that?
Maybe.
Okay.
And you know, sometimes...
Okay.
All right, you guys don't like this type of talk.
I know I just go like...
We'll do it.
We'll do whatever.
but just like
it's best to be avoided perhaps
and Grace feel free to weigh in.
Literally like we've been doing the show
for a long time we've never talked about
bone or balloons
or whatever it is that you've come in to sort of
I see.
Let's start a new era right now.
Well you could talk about the clit as well
and you guys don't like that either.
Okay, I know we'll do it.
I don't really want to.
I'm trying to figure out what I'm supposed to do here.
So if it's a girl, that's popping the balloon.
It could be, I don't know what to say.
Okay.
That's popping the balloon for her.
Good.
Okay.
So I guess I'm here being like, oh, good?
Right.
That's good that that's doing that.
Thank you.
Oh, nice.
The balloon pops like, oh, thank you.
Thank you for doing that with your stuff.
Yeah.
So that's just one idea.
Over in.
What if they go to the didn't like section?
Because they loved it.
Oh, my God.
Oh, that's fun.
Wow.
That's fun.
Are you going to do something after where the audience is talking to somebody, like, to the camera,
and they're talking about how scared they were?
And are you going to set up those night vision cameras in the theater where people are,
oh!
Yeah.
That's a really good way to get people to.
go to the show.
Well, that's when I put the mask on, is that when we're filming those.
When you put the mask on, because the mask is so scary.
Yeah.
And you have a knife, it looks like.
Knife.
Could be holding a gun this way as well.
Rifle, long rifle.
Ha, ha.
Well, that's like rallying the militia, kind of, right?
When you hold a long rifle like this.
Well, the people who didn't like the show, it's to incite violence against me.
revolt against, you know, you didn't like the show.
Because you are putting the mask on, pretending to be someone else.
Yeah.
Rallying the people that didn't like it to kill you.
Yeah.
And then you take the mask off.
And I still all along, this was me.
You really want to do this?
All right.
You know.
That's an interesting show.
It's theater.
I am interested in the idea of holding a, like a pistol, like a handgun.
Like this.
Holding it by the barrel.
Yeah.
Swinging up like that.
Who's the show for?
Who are you speaking to when you're up there?
Who are you picturing?
Who's the one person?
Completely.
Oh, the one person.
Well, it's Obama.
It's Obama?
Again.
All right, forget it, forget it.
Let me try again.
The person who it's for,
Now listen to me, gentlemen.
This show is about my experience of my life as well as my mental illness.
Oh, the girl's crazy.
Yes.
Okay, that's ultimately what it is.
But she's crazy because crazy stuff has happened to her.
And so the show is for people who want to hear about that.
People who have their own experiences with mental illness.
perhaps and I'm from New York maybe
there are lots of different entry points in
someone who's from New York
someone whose dad is weird
I think
am I supposed to feel sorry for you
because I'm kind of trying to do that for myself
What do you feel sorry about yourself
right now?
What's going on?
Why do you need to feel sorry for yourself?
Do not do not
suck me into this trap
now all of a sudden
I have a show on Broadway
I'm busy.
I can't do that right now.
Right.
Well, you could workshop it for a while.
I would just say the way you're describing it.
I'd be like I saw you.
You were doing this show during the strike.
Yeah, this is really, it's really upsetting to me.
Well, I watch the damn picket line and she was like, hey, I've got this show.
And I was like, you're not supposed to do that right now.
Well, I was fliring at the strike because it's like that's where all the, you know, it's where all the showrunners are.
Yeah.
Hey, come see my show tonight
Oh, it's hot outside
Well, in the theater, there's AC tonight
This show
And I'm really glad you're here
Really?
Like, it's been, like, it's been fun having you.
I do think you got, you got booked on the wrong show.
Here.
Yes.
I knew this was going to happen to me.
It's not for,
you say who it's for
Yeah.
People that have mental illness.
People from New York.
It's just not really like,
Like, who dad is weird.
Yeah.
It's not, that's not our audience.
Who's your audience?
No.
Who's your audience?
Beefy, muscular.
Just like, boys and girls.
Yeah.
Just like boys and girls who were like really strong.
Mm-hmm.
And.
Gorilla juice heads.
Mm-hmm.
Mentally good.
Just like, we're good.
You know?
Yeah.
Dad is chill.
When we've done live shows
and interacted with our fan base
or even when they've approached us in public
it kind of seems like it's all good.
Really?
They're all pretty good.
And we're like, do you need anything?
And they're like, I'm strilled.
Yeah.
No, no, no, I'm thrilled.
They're strilling.
And they have disposable income
to attend your live shows as well.
Yes, moneyed, moneyed people.
Yes.
Money's not an issue for,
for this crew.
They're actually
very comfortable.
They don't like to say
we're rich,
they're comfortable.
And also they're like
where they're from,
it goes pretty far
because they're not from New York.
I want to amend the New York thing.
It's just that the show is in New York.
But if your audience has money,
they can fly in New York.
I think it's smart to be like
it's people,
it's for people who are like
from the theater where you're
doing the show.
That's a great point.
Then they'll go.
Yeah.
You know?
Well, there are a lot of floors in the theater.
So that's the Sleep No More aspect of it.
Well, it's where Sleep No More happens.
Okay.
Is it possible that Sleep No More is still happening and you are sort of a away station along the sleep?
Or like entertainment for the line.
Oh, yeah.
I would do that.
You know how sometimes it like, well, we're saying you are doing that.
Oh, I understand.
Understand.
Well, the, okay.
Yeah.
You're realizing that's what you are doing.
I see.
Well, really what I'm doing is following a heated rivalry parody musical.
Yeah.
No, Jen, I'm not kidding.
That's awesome.
That's what's happening in the theater.
I got fucked.
So you are, they do their parody musical.
Yes, which is selling amazingly and everyone looks better than me.
And then they're like, stick around everyone.
We've got an amazing show.
We've got an amazing show.
coming up after the full-length musical we just did.
Hang out.
Just wait half an hour and then we got a whole other show.
It's called a hospital hour.
I hope you like the sexy hockey songs.
Please do.
I know everyone love the sexy hockey songs.
Please do stick around to hear about someone's journey with their mental illness.
There is one audio track in my show.
Wow.
And it's loud.
Loud.
Okay.
Yep.
All right.
What are we putting on there?
Down Easter Alexa?
Huh?
Down Easter Alexa?
Is it Downeaster Alexa by Billy Joel?
No, but he's from New York.
Is that true?
That's New York, yeah.
Spider-Man.
From Queens.
Spider-Man, of course.
Spider-Man, yeah.
No, it's an original song.
Not written by me.
All right.
I guess
Is it performed by you?
No.
Don't perform by me.
I say let's hit the track.
It's about 60 seconds long.
Okay.
And frankly,
can I say this?
Yeah.
Downeaster Alexa is also an original song not by you.
You're kidding.
Yeah, you were like correcting him as if you wrote downeaster Alexa.
You're right.
I see how that.
Yeah.
Well, I'm sorry.
I'd love to hear this song.
You know it by heart?
Probably, yeah.
When's your show?
But I can't make the sounds.
There's an interesting soundscape happening
that I can't create for you.
When's your show go up?
The show starts October 16th.
Okay.
So we have time for you to perform down Easter, Alexa.
Mm-hmm.
Hey, if you're in New York.
The show doesn't start until October 16th.
Anytime.
You pop in.
Yeah.
There's like a sort of an interesting soundscape happening with it.
Yeah.
I'm on my down Easter Alexa.
Down Easter Alexa?
I work with the rod and the reef.
Bye.
There's strippers out there in the canyon.
Recording stop.

We have a new podcast.
It's called Don't Lie to Me.
