There's a lot of noise in the world right now.
And loud voices are dominating the headlines.
However, there are other voices out there.
I started as one person, but we are thousands of people now.
People are doing good things. Those things are as real as all the negative headlines
you hear.
The voices of people who are quietly getting on with the job of changing the world.
Instead of fighting for our attention, they're taking on some of our most formidable global
challenges.
I hope that the impact of what we do with the Ocean Cleanup will expand beyond just clean oceans.
I pinch myself every time I hear about a country rolling out the malaria vaccine.
Sparking light in the darkest of places.
I woke up and sitting at the end of my bed was this nun
helping people cross over from life to death.
Every breath I take is because of a drug that wasn't made for my disease.
And harnessing the cumulative power of one small action after the next.
It sounds like a simple thing to give a child a meal, but you can see their faces change.
I also have this underlying belief that the solutions are hiding in plain sight.
I'm Amy. I'm Gus. And in this new chapter of Hope is a Verb, we're turning up the volume on the
problem solvers and the quiet rebels who are holding the line, changing the game, and refusing
to give up on a better, fairer future. There's a world that I believe can exist, and I'm using to give up on a better, fairer future. There's a world that I believe can exist.
And I'm going to be stubborn until we make that happen.
What we can become is not in ourselves,
it's out there in the world.
So grab your headphones from July 31st
and let's drown out the noise with hope.
If I didn't have any hope that we would ever be able to clean the ocean,
I wouldn't have spent 12 years, seven days a week working for this.
