I live alone in a small house on the outskirts of town, a quiet place with few neighbors around. Most nights I enjoy the silence. It helps me relax after a long day at work. However, one night that silence turned into something different, something unsettling. It was a Friday afternoon when I came home. I remember it was cold and a light drizzle covered everything in a grayish tone. I locked the front door, took off my shoes, and went straight to the kitchen to make myself a simple dinner. I wasn't expecting visitors, so I planned to spend the night watching television and maybe reading a book.
Starting point is 00:02:07 After eating, I settled on the couch, wrapped in a blanket. I flipped through channels for a while, but nothing caught my attention, so I decided to put on a movie I had seen many times. It was comforting to know exactly what was going to happen. Halfway through the movie, I started to feel sleepy. My eyelids felt heavy and I was about to fall asleep when a noise startled me. It wasn't loud, just a faint scratch, like something brushing against the side of the house. At first I thought it could be the wind or maybe a branch move by the breeze, but I heard it again.
Starting point is 00:02:44 This time closer to the window, I sat up suddenly, completely awake, with my heart racing. I listened carefully. The sound continued slow and persistent. It no longer seemed like the wind. I muted the television and the stillness of the room became thick, almost oppressive. The noise moved toward the back door and then I understood that someone was trying to get in. I stayed frozen on the couch, not knowing what to do. I didn't have any weapon, and my foam was on the kitchen counter, too far away to reach without making noise. My mind filled with thoughts. Maybe it was just an animal, I tried to convince myself. The sound stopped and for a few seconds absolute silence reigned. I held my breath alert for any sign, until the back door handle began to move.
Starting point is 00:03:36 Someone was trying to open it. An icy fear ran through my body. I slid off the couch carefully, trying not to make the slightest sound, and moved slowly toward the kitchen to grab the phone. I knew I had to call the police, but I also knew any noise could alert the intruder. When I reached the kitchen, I heard the creak of the door opening. My heart was pounding out of control. The back door was unlocked.
Starting point is 00:04:04 I had forgotten to lock it when I arrived. I cursed myself for my carelessness. I grabbed the phone and hid behind the counter, my hands trembling as I dialed 911. I could hear the stranger's footsteps entering the house, slow, calculated. He was already inside. The 911 operator answered, but I didn't dare speak. I only listened as that person moved through the rooms exploring one by one. The footsteps came closer, getting nearer to the kitchen.
Starting point is 00:04:36 I whispered my address in a barely audible voice and hung up, hoping the police would arrive in time. The footsteps stopped just on the other side of the wall. I held my breath praying you wouldn't find me. But then he entered the kitchen. I saw his shadow cast on the floor, approaching where I was hiding. I had to do something. I couldn't stay there waiting to be discovered. I looked around, searching for something to defend myself with.
Starting point is 00:05:04 my eyes landed on a heavy frying pan on the stove. I picked it up slowly trying not to make any noise. In that moment the intruder turned the corner and our eyes met. For a brief second I saw the cold gleam in his eyes, a hard threatening expression. He was a tall man, dressed completely in dark clothing, with a hood covering his head. He looked like someone capable of hurting without hesitation. Without thinking, I raised the pan. and hit him with all my strength.
Starting point is 00:05:36 There was a dull thought, and the man stumbled back, clutching his head. I didn't wait to see if he recovered. I ran out of the kitchen and lunged toward the front door. As I tried to open it, I heard the intruder getting back up. Panic flooded me. My hands trembled so much I could barely turn the deadbolt. The footsteps came closer, fast and furious. Finally, I managed to unlock the door and threw it open.
Starting point is 00:06:03 I ran into the darkness of the street without looking back, without stopping until I was halfway down the block. I turned then. The street was empty, and my house, still and silent, seemed as if it had never been the scene of anything. A few minutes later I heard sirens in the distance. The police arrived and searched the home, but the intruder was gone. They told me I was lucky to have gotten out unharmed, though I didn't feel lucky. I felt violated, vulnerable, completely terrified. That night changed everything. I never felt safe in that house again. The silence that once comforted me became a constant reminder of my fragility.
Starting point is 00:06:48 And since then, every time I hear a noise, no matter how small, my heart races, afraid that the intruder has returned. Story 2. I used to work long hours in a small, stifling office, staring at a small, stifling office, staring at a computer screen until my eyes burned. Weekends were my only escape, the time when I could run to the mountains in search of fresh air and solitude.
Starting point is 00:07:18 I was passionate about walking through dense forests where the noises of the city couldn't reach me. The forest was my refuge, my sanctuary. The only place where my mind cleared and I could feel truly alive. One weekend I decided to explore a new trail a friend had told me about. He said it was difficult and rarely traveled, ideal for someone like me who wanted to avoid crowds.
Starting point is 00:07:44 The weather was cool and the sky was clear when I arrived at the start of the path. I had enough supplies for the whole day, confident that I could handle anything the forest might throw at me. The trail was beautiful, winding between thick trees and rocky terrain. The deeper I went, the more I felt like I was entering another world. There were no other hikers, and the silence was almost unsettling, broken only by the crunch of a leaf or the distant song of a bird. After several hours of walking, I reached a fork. One path was clearly marked, but the other vanished among the trees,
Starting point is 00:08:21 where the light could barely filter through. Curiosity got the better of me, and I decided to take the unmarked route. I promised myself I would only follow it for a short stretch before returning. The trail soon became more difficult and before long disappeared completely. I should have turned back then, but I let myself be carried away by the thrill of discovery, by that sense of adventure. I didn't realize how far off course I had wandered until it was too late. As the hours passed and the sky began to darken and in reality hit me,
Starting point is 00:08:55 I was lost. I had no idea where the main path was, and panic began to take hold of me. I tried to follow my footprints, but everything looked the same under the dying light. The trees seemed to close in around me, and the silence, the one that used to calm me became oppressive. I walked for what felt like an eternity, shouting from time to time in the hope that someone would hear me. No one answered. My legs ached and I knew I had to find shelter before night fell completely. Just when I was about to give up, I spotted something between the trees, a small cabin hidden deep in the forest.
Starting point is 00:09:35 I felt a wave of relief. I approached quickly, convinced I had found help. The structure was old, with woodworned by time and a sagging roof, but it was shelter. As I got closer, I noticed a faint glow coming from a window, a lit fire. I knocked on the door, hoping whoever lived there would be kind enough to let me spend the night. The door opened slowly and an older man appeared. he looked disheveled, long tangled hair, a thick beard that reached almost to his chest, worn out clothes and wild eyes, like those of a cornered animal. At first he didn't speak,
Starting point is 00:10:14 he just stared at me, as if he had gone years without seeing another human being. Please, I said, I'm lost, I need help. The man finally spoke, in a rough, deep voice. You shouldn't be here. He said, This place is not for you. Leave now while you still can. His word sent a chill through my blood, but I was too exhausted to keep walking. I don't know where to go, I replied.
Starting point is 00:10:45 Let me stay here just for tonight. He shook his head slowly. If you stay, you won't leave alive. This is my territory and I don't tolerate intruders. Despite his warning, my desperation was greater than my feet. fear. I thanked him and walked away, deciding to camp near the cabin instead of staying inside. I found a small clearing not far away, where I set up my tent and lit a campfire. The night was
Starting point is 00:11:14 unnervingly silent, and I couldn't shake the feeling that someone was watching me. Finally, exhaustion overcame me and I fell asleep, though the sleep didn't last long. I woke up in the early morning with a strange feeling. As if something was out of place, I crawled out of the tent and noticed something disturbing. The trees around my campsite had symbols carved into their trunks. They were unfamiliar figures, and their mere presence filled me with a deep unease. As I tried to understand what I was seeing, a movement caught my attention in the distance among the shadows I made out the old man. He was standing between the trees watching me. He was too far away. He was too far away to see his face clearly, but I could feel his stare, fixed, cold, unchanging. I shouted at him,
Starting point is 00:12:06 but he didn't respond. He just stayed there motionless, like a shadow of the forest. No matter where I looked, he always seemed to be there at the edge of my vision, watching me without ever coming closer. Fear flooded me. I packed my things in a hurry. I had to get out of there, but no matter how far I walked. I couldn't shake the feeling of being followed, hunted like prey. The symbols on the trees became more frequent, and that invisible gaze seemed to accompany me with every step. I tried to run, but the forest became more and more confusing, twisting around me, making me lose my sense of direction. Every time I thought I had left him behind, he appeared again, among the trunks, always at the edge of my side. My mind desperately search full. My mind desperately
Starting point is 00:12:56 search for a way out, but I understood it was useless. I was trapped in his territory, and the forest was his accomplice. The realization hit me like a hammer. I would never manage to get out of there. The old man had warned me and I had ignored him. Now I would pay the price. The sun began to set and I knew my time was running out. The symbols, the silence, that figure. Everything blended into an endless nightmare. I stumbled forward among the trees without strength, without hope. Finally, I collapsed to the ground, exhausted, unable to continue. Before losing consciousness, I saw him one last time.
Starting point is 00:13:41 The old man was standing beside me, his wild eyes shining in the dying light of sunset. He didn't need to say a single word. I understood everything. I had entered his domain, and I would never leave it. Before moving on to the next story, remember to subscribe to the channel and activate the bell to receive more horror tales. Starting point is 00:14:09 Thank you for joining us. Story 3 I was 18 years old and worked as a pizza delivery driver to help pay for college. It wasn't the most exciting job in the first. world, but it was simple and the tips weren't bad. Most nights were quiet, just me driving around the city, delivering orders and listening to music to stay awake. However, on one night was different, a night I could never forget. It all started like any other shift. I picked up a few orders, loaded them into my old sedan, a beat-up car that had seen better days, and headed out to make my
Starting point is 00:14:53 deliveries. The weather was calm and the streets were almost empty, which made the drive pleasant. As I drove along a long stretch of road, I noticed something strange in the distance, a car coming toward me at high speed, but with its lights off, I could barely make it out, a dark silhouette sliding toward me. My heart lurched when I realized how close it was. I jerked the steering wheel to the right, avoiding the crash by seconds. The car flew past me. still without lights and disappeared into the darkness. My hands were shaking, but I kept driving, trying to convince myself it was just a reckless driver.
Starting point is 00:15:33 A couple of hours later, I had another delivery. The address was in a quiet neighborhood, with narrow streets and old houses lined up side by side. I parked, grabbed the pizza, and walked to the door. While I waited for someone to answer, I heard an engine behind me. I turned. And there it was. the same car this time with its headlights on stopped at the curb engine running but motionless a chill ran down my spine the door opened behind me and i handed over the pizza pretending everything was normal though my mind was completely focused on that vehicle when i walked back to my car i glanced quickly over my shoulder the other car hadn't moved but i could feel its stare on me unseen but unmistakable i got in starting to start to my shoulder i got in started to be
Starting point is 00:16:23 at the engine, and then, without warning, the other car roared forward and slammed to a stop inches from my front bumper. The driver, a man with a shaved head and a heart expression, leaned out of the window. His eyes were cold, empty, with something I couldn't identify. Anger, hatred, something worse? Watch where you're going, he growled in a harsh voice, dripping with venom. I stayed silent, frozen. Not knowing what to say. He scowled even deeper. You think you're tough, huh? He spat the words with contempt. You think you can cut me off. He slapped the side of his car with an open palm. The boom echoed down the empty street. That sound snapped me into motion. I threw the car into gear and hit the gas, fleeing with my heart pounding. But he wasn't done with me. I heard the screech of his tires as his car lunged. after mine. The roar of the engine grew closer and closer. The narrow streets seemed to close in around me as I tried to escape. I took sharp turns at corners, cut through alleys and side
Starting point is 00:17:36 streets, hoping to lose him. But he stayed there relentless, only a few yards behind. The chase felt like it lasted forever. My palms were sweaty and I gripped the steering wheel so hard my knuckles turned white. I could hear his engine roaring behind him. me and see his headlights closing in through the rearview mirror. Brighter, closer, closer. I didn't know that area well, but I used every bit of instinct and skill I had to stay ahead, weaving around parked cars and whipping through tight curves. Finally, after what felt like an hour, I saw a small park up ahead with a circular road looping around the grass. I sped up, took a tight turn, and entered the park loop. As soon as I was out of his line of sight, I shut off my headlights and pulled in behind
Starting point is 00:18:25 some bushes. I held my breath as the other vehicle drove past, roaring off in the opposite direction. I stayed there in the dark, listening to my own heart pounding in my chest. I didn't dare move. Only when the sound of his engine faded completely did I let out the breath I'd been holding. The night became silent again, with the distant chirp of crickets as the only sound. I didn't see the car again that night, but the fear stayed. Every time I turned a corner, I expected to see those headlights appear behind me again. I finished my deliveries, but I couldn't relax for a second. My eyes never stopped scanning the rearview mirror,
Starting point is 00:19:07 searching for the driver who felt like he had sworn he'd come back. A few days passed, one night, while making another delivery, I saw him again. The car was parked at the edge of a neighborhood, half hidden in the shadows. My stomach twisted. I drove past hoping he wouldn't recognize me. But the moment I did, the vehicle started up and began following me. I tried to stay calm, focusing on the road, but panic grew inside me. There was no one else on the streets, no one I could ask for help. The silence of the night felt unbearable. When I reached the next house, I saw a man standing on the porch waiting for his order.
Starting point is 00:19:50 desperation took over. I ran up to him, almost shoving the pizza box into his hands. Please, I whispered, looking toward the street. Help me. The man noticed my panic and his eyes widened. He didn't ask questions. He pulled out his phone and immediately called the police. From the doorway, I could see the other car stopped at the end of the street, the driver watching us.
Starting point is 00:20:17 He didn't move, but I knew he was looking at me. I felt trapped like an animal cornered. The man gave our location to the officers while I tried to hold myself together. A few endless minutes passed until we heard sirens approaching. In that moment, the stalker's vehicle roared with fury, turned around and disappeared. Tire squealing as it vanished into the alleys. When the police arrived, I told them everything. They searched the area, but they didn't find anything.
Starting point is 00:20:47 They assured me they would stay alert, but I knew he was still. out there, waiting for me. From that night on, I couldn't feel calm behind the wheel again. Every time I sat down to drive, I scanned the streets for that car, for that man with the empty stare. I never saw him again, but the fear never left. The image of his headlights, the roar of his engine, the chase through those narrow streets. It all stayed burned into my mind like an invisible scar. A constant reminder of how close I came to something truly terrible. Story four. I worked the night shift at a small motel on the outskirts of a quiet town. It's the kind of place where nothing much ever happens, where the only sounds at night are the hum of the vending machine and, once in a while, the distant engine
Starting point is 00:21:43 of a car crossing the highway. I'm used to that stillness, that solitude. I always found a certain comfort in those silent hours when it feels like the whole world is asleep. But lately, something strange has been happening during my ships. It all started about a week ago. I was sitting at the front desk flipping through an old magazine when the phone rang. I looked at the clock. It was almost three in the morning. A strange time to get calls. I picked up the receiver and answered, front desk. How can I help you? There was no response. There was no response. Instead of a voice, I heard heavy, deep breathing on the other end of the line. I waited a few seconds, thinking maybe someone had dialed the motel by mistake, but the breathing continued.
Starting point is 00:22:33 Slow, steady, almost rhythmic, though there was something unsettling about it. My skin prickled. Hello? Is someone there? I asked, trying to stay calm. The breathing stopped. In its place, I heard footsteps, slow, tapping on what sounded like a wooden floor, and as suddenly as it began, the line went dead. I hung up with a shiver running down my spine, but I let it go.
Starting point is 00:23:04 Prank calls happened from time to time, especially late at night. Maybe it was some bored teenager trying to scare me. The next night, the phone rang again at almost the same time. This time there was no breathing, but we were. whispers, soft, distant voices, unintelligible, as if two people were talking at the far end of a hallway. My heart began to pound as I strained to catch a word, but I couldn't make out anything. Then, again, I heard the footsteps, closer and closer, clearer and clearer, until it felt like they were coming from the lobby itself.
Starting point is 00:23:42 I slammed the phone down, my hands trembling. I checked the motel registered to see if any new greek. guest had arrived that night, but there was no one. Just the usual occupied rooms. The rest were empty. Still, when I looked at the phone display, I noticed something that made my blood run cold. The call was coming from an empty room. 206. I felt a nod at my stomach. Over the following nights, the calls continued, each one different. Sometimes I heard the creak of a door slowly opening. Other times a faint melody from a music box that sounded old, melancholy, almost childlike, but they all had one thing in common. They always came from unoccupied rooms. And when I checked those rooms
Starting point is 00:24:31 after each call, I found nothing out of place, at least at first glance. The beds were made, the lights were off. Still, there were small details that unsettled me. A chair moved just a few centimeters, a curtain drawn a bit farther than usual, a wrinkled blanket, tiny things, but enough to make me doubt everything. By the end of the week, I was completely on edge. Every time the phone rang, my heart stopped for an instant. I braced myself to hear anything, a whisper, a bang, an impossible sound. I began to fear the long hours of solitude I used to like so much. One night, After receiving yet another call from an empty room, I decided to investigate thoroughly. I had to know what was happening.
Starting point is 00:25:22 I took the master key from the counter and walked toward the room that had made the most recent call. Room 301. My footsteps echoed in the empty hallway as I moved forward. When I reached the door, I hesitated for a second. I could feel my heart pounding in my ears. Finally, I turned the key and pushed the door open. The air inside was cold, almost icy. I turned on the bedside lamp which cast a yellowish light over the room.
Starting point is 00:25:50 Everything looked normal, until I saw it. The room phone was slightly off its base, just enough to break the connection. A chill ran through me. I stepped closer and placed the receiver back where it belonged, but as I did, I noticed something. A piece of paper was sticking out from under the phone. I pulled it out carefully. It was a folded sheet with a list of the names handwritten on it. Names I didn't recognize.
Starting point is 00:26:19 At the bottom in red ink, a single word stood out. Help. I backed away slowly, my heart racing. I knew I had to talk to the motel owner, Mr. Charles. Maybe he could explain why those calls always came from empty rooms. The next night, as soon as Mr. Charles arrived for his shift, I confronted him. I told him everything. The calls, the sounds, the papers, the rooms. For a moment, he seemed genuinely surprised. His face went pale, but then he quickly regained his composure.
Starting point is 00:26:55 Don't worry about that, he said in a cold but firm voice. It's probably problems with the old wiring. I'll take care of it. I tried to believe him, but his tone left me uneasy. They There was something in his eyes that didn't match his words. I felt like he was hiding something from me. That night I couldn't focus. I replayed our conversation over and over in my head, searching for some hidden meaning, a clue. I was about to finish my shift when the phone rang one last time.
Starting point is 00:27:28 I stared at it in fear before answering. Front desk, I murmured. My voice trembling, silence. Then, a familiar. familiar voice, Mr. Charles's voice, but it wasn't coming from the lobby. It was coming from a room that shouldn't have been occupied, a room at the end of the hallway, one I had never seen open, not even during the day, 308. I dropped the receiver. The sharp thud of the phone hitting the floor echoed like a gunshot. I ran. I sprinted down the hallway without looking back,
Starting point is 00:28:05 burst out the front door and didn't stop until I was outside under the pale moonlight. I never went back to that motel. I don't know what was in that room, but it was something far darker than I could ever understand. Story 5. I used to hitchhike often. I started doing it in my early 20s when I was trying to save money while traveling from one place to another. I like the idea of meeting new people, hearing their stories, feeling free on the road. Most of the time the rides were calm, pleasant even. But one night, one single night was enough for everything to change, an experience that still haunts me when I close my eyes.
Starting point is 00:28:53 It was a cold autumn evening. I was standing on the side of a lonely highway. The sun had just sat and the sky had a deep purple hue, almost ominous. I had been waiting for about an hour and the freezing air was beginning to seep into my bones. The road was deserted, only now and then a car would pass without stopping. I was starting to resign myself to spending the night outdoors when I saw, in the distance, the glow of headlights approaching. I raised my thumb, hoping the driver would take pity on me.
Starting point is 00:29:26 To my relief, the car, an old dark sedan slowed down and pulled over to the side of the road. I ran to the passenger door and leaned in to look inside. The driver was a middle-aged man with thinning hair. in a tired face. He seemed harmless, so I opened the door and got in. Where are you going? He asked in a deep, rough voice. I told him the name of the town I was heading to, about 80 kilometers from there. He nodded slightly. I'm going that way, he replied. Thank you, I said, grateful for the gesture. I closed the door and buckled my seatbelt. The car started moving again.
Starting point is 00:30:08 For the first few minutes, silence reigned. Only the hum of the engine and the hiss of tires on asphalt could be heard. I watched through the window as the trees passed like shadows trying to relax. But there was something about that man that made me uneasy. Maybe the way he glanced at me from time to time, or the stiffness with which he gripped the steering wheel. I couldn't explain it, but something wasn't right. Then I saw it.
Starting point is 00:30:35 On the back seat there was a large box covered by a thick dark blanket. It took up almost the entire space. I hadn't noticed it before because it was sunken, half hidden. But now that I saw it, I couldn't look away. It was a strange thing to carry on the back seat. What did it contain? The man must have noticed me staring because he cleared his throat and said, Old stuff, nothing important.
Starting point is 00:31:03 His voice sounded tense. I nodded, not wanting to seem nosy, though curiosity nodded me. What kind of old stuff gets hidden under a blanket like that? His behavior only increased my unease. Several miles passed in an uncomfortable silence. The air inside the car felt dense, heavy. I began to feel trapped, almost unable to breathe. I shifted in the seat, looking for a comfortable position, but the sense of unease kept growing.
Starting point is 00:31:34 That was when I heard it, a muffled sound, almost imperceptible coming from the back seat. I went still. At first I thought it was my imagination, until it happened again. It was a faint, dampened noise, as if something or someone was inside the box. I turned slowly toward the man, my heart pounding. Did you hear that? I asked, trying to sound calm. hear what he replied in a flat expressionless tone i hesitated i thought i heard something from the back seat just road noise he said nothing to worry about but i was worried very worried my heart hammered in my chest and i felt cold sweats lied down the back of my neck the sound came again louder there was no doubt something
Starting point is 00:32:32 was moving inside that box. Anxiety took over. I wanted to get out of the car, but we were in the middle of a deserted highway without a single light in sight. If I jumped, I could seriously hurt myself, but staying there seemed like an even worse idea. As I tried to decide what to do, the man began to hum. It was a low, strange, off-key melody. Each note seemed to pull me deeper into fear. His hands gripped the steering wheel so tightly the tendons stood out. The humming grew louder, more agitated. I knew then that I had to do something. I tried to pull my phone out of my pocket, moving slowly, hoping you wouldn't notice. But he saw me. His eyes flared with sudden fury. No phones, he spat in a threatening voice. He grabbed my wrist. I felt the icy pressure of his
Starting point is 00:33:27 fingers digging into my skin. I yanked free, my heart racing. The car kept speeding forward, and the dull thuds from the back seat became more frantic. I knew I couldn't stay another second. I unbuckled my seatbelt and reached for the door handle. The man shot me a look filled with hatred. Don't you dare, he growled. But I had already made my decision. I pulled the handle and up the door open. A blast of icy air hit my face. The man tried to reach for me, but I was faster. I threw myself out of the car. The impact was brutal. I hit the asphalt and rolled. The air knocked out of my lungs. I felt my skin tear on my arms and legs as I scraped along the ground trying to get away. The car screeched as it braked, and I heard the man yell something,
Starting point is 00:34:18 but I didn't look back. I got up as best I could and ran. My legs felt, heavy, pain burned with every step, but I didn't stop. The cold air scorched my lungs and still I kept running, thinking only one thing. Get away from him. I ran until my body couldn't take it anymore. Finally, I collapsed at the edge of the road, gasping, shaking. My heart beating so hard I could barely hear anything else. I looked back, expecting to see the car's headlights returning, but the highway was empty. Only the wind moving the leaves of the trees broke the silence. I don't know how long I stayed there, trembling, trying to calm down.
Starting point is 00:35:03 Eventually a car stopped. It was a woman, kind, with a calm face. She rolled down the window and asked if I needed help. I hesitated. Getting into another car with a stranger terrified me, but I had no other choice. I nodded. She drove me to the nearest town.
Starting point is 00:35:24 During the ride, I couldn't stop thinking about that box. What was inside? What was that sound I had heard? I never found out. And honestly, I'm not sure I want to know. That night I survived, but something changed inside me. Since then, I never hitchhiked again. Story 6.
Starting point is 00:35:51 A few weeks ago, my friends and I decided to go on a weekend hike. We were college students, exhausted from the stress of exams and eager to disconnect from everything for a few days. There were four of us, Jason, Lena, Alex, and me. We planned the trip for weeks, choosing a forest famous for its quiet trails and natural beauty. It seemed like the perfect place to relax and enjoy the outdoors. We arrived early on a Saturday morning, full of energy and excitement. The air was cool, the sky was clear. and the forest welcomed us with its calm.
Starting point is 00:36:28 We parked the car at the trailhead and started walking, chatting and laughing as we made our way between the trees. The trunks were tall and thick, and the leaves swayed gently in the breeze. Sunlight filtered through the branches, casting shadows that danced across the ground. As the day went on, we lost track of time. We stopped to explore curious corners,
Starting point is 00:36:51 a small stream hidden among bushes, a rocky outcrop that offered a specter. spectacular view of the valley covered in green. The hours flew by. When the sun began to sink, Lena checked her watch and said, maybe we should head back. It's getting late. I nodded, knowing she was right. Walking at night in such a dense forest wasn't a good idea. So we turned around and started heading back the same way, or at least that's what we thought. Something didn't add up. The trail looked different. The trees don't. didn't look the same anymore, and the more we walked, the more obvious it became that we were lost.
Starting point is 00:37:32 Worry began to creep in among us. We tried to stay calm, reassuring each other that we'd find the main path. But as the last ray of sunlight faded and darkness wrapped around us, our confidence began to slip away. The forest at night was another world. The shadows stretched long, and the trunks that had seemed welcoming before now rose like threatening figures. The sounds of the day, birds, wind, leaves, turned into unsettling murmurs that set our nerves on edge. We turned on our flashlights. The beams cut through the blackness like knives, but it was as if the forest didn't want to show us the way. Everything looked the same, every tree, every stone. That was when we heard it. Footsteps. At first we thought it was the echo of our own,
Starting point is 00:38:22 but soon it was clear it wasn't. They were coming from behind us. soft, barely audible but unmistakable. Someone or something was following us. We stopped. The footsteps stopped too. We looked at each other, and the fear in my friend's eyes confirmed I wasn't imagining things. Did you hear that? Alex asked in a trembling voice. No one answered, but it wasn't necessary. We waited a few seconds. Silence. Finally. We tried to do. to convince ourselves it was just paranoia. That sounds got distorted in the dark. We started walking again, and the footsteps returned, in step with ours. Every time we stopped, they stopped too. Every time we moved forward, they followed. It was as if something invisible was imitating
Starting point is 00:39:16 us, playing with us, making sure we knew we weren't alone. We sped up. No one spoke, only our ragged breathing in the crunch of dry leaves. Suddenly Jason, who was in front, stopped dead. What is it? I whispered. He didn't answer. His flashlight was fixed on something ahead of us. We followed his gaze, and we saw him, a man, standing only a few meters away, half hidden among the trees. He was tall, thin, motionless. His clothing blended into the darkness, as if the forest itself wrapped around him. He didn't say anything. He just watched us. I felt my blood turned to ice. There was something in his stillness in the way he stared at us that made me realize he wasn't a hiker. Without a word, we turned around and ran. The forest became a tangle of branches, roots, and shadows.
Starting point is 00:40:16 The flashlight shook in our hands as we stumbled again and again, but it didn't matter how fast we ran. When we looked back, he was still there, the same distance away, always watching. It was as if the forest was repeating itself, as if we were trapped in a loop. The trees never changed. The ground never opened up. And he was always there. Fear turned into pure panic. We were no longer running from the forest, but from him, from his presence that surrounded us, that seemed to push us deeper and deeper into the heart of the darkness. Suddenly, Lena screamed. Her voice tore through the silence.
Starting point is 00:40:59 She had fallen to the ground. I ran to her and saw why. A thin wire crossed the path, almost invisible in the dim light. A trap. Terror hit me with full force. It wasn't a coincidence. He wasn't following us out of curiosity. He was hunting us.
Starting point is 00:41:19 That forest was his territory, his hunting ground. He had been guiding us, pushing us where he wanted. I helped Lena up and we kept running, more afraid than ever. Now every shadow was a threat, every fallen branch a possible trap. We knew he was close, waiting for us. Exhaustion was tearing us apart. Our legs barely responded. The air burned our throats, but stopping wasn't an option.
Starting point is 00:41:49 Finally, we reached a small clearing and collapsed to the ground, exhausted, shaking. The footsteps had stopped. The silence that followed was worse than any noise. We knew he was there, somewhere watching us, waiting. We held each other, not daring to speak. The night wrapped around us and the forest seemed to close in. There was no way out, only darkness. And then I understood.
Starting point is 00:42:20 We weren't simply lost in the woods. The woods had claimed us. That man, that hunter, had won. And we were at his mercy. Story 7. I used to work as a security guard in an old abandoned factory. It was a huge crumbling building with broken windows, walls covered in rust, and machines corroded by time. The factory had been closed for decades.
Starting point is 00:42:52 but the owners still wanted someone to watch the place at night. Maybe they thought someone might try to steal scrap metal or break in out of curiosity. Whatever the reason they hired me for the night shift. The first few nights passed without incident. I walked through the long dark hallways and the echo of my footsteps bounced off the concrete walls. The only sounds were the whistle of wind slipping through cracks in the windows and the occasional creak of the structure settling. It was boring, yes, but an easy job.
Starting point is 00:43:24 I listened to the radio or read a book to stay awake, but after a few days, things began to change. It started with tiny details, almost imperceptible ones. One night I noticed that a door I had closed myself hours earlier was slightly open. I thought maybe I hadn't secured it properly, so I didn't give it much importance. However, the next day it happened again. This time I was sure I had closed the door firmly, but when I passed the same spot, it was open again. A bad feeling began to grow inside me, though I tried to calm myself.
Starting point is 00:44:01 It was an old building, I thought. Maybe the hinges were loose or the wind had pushed it. I tried to convince myself there was nothing strange, until the noises began. It was around two in the morning. While I was doing my rounds in the storage sector, I heard a faint murmur. coming from one of the rooms. It sounded like a brush, a soft movement, almost imperceptible. At first I thought it was my imagination, but I heard it again. Footsteps, or something moving. I stood still, holding my breath while my heart pounded in my chest. I was alone in that building. There shouldn't have been anyone else there. I grabbed my flashlight and move slowly
Starting point is 00:44:46 toward the source of the sound. The beam cut through the darkness and trembling lines. When I reached the storage door, the noise stopped. The door was closed. I took a breath and pushed it open. The room was empty. I checked every corner with the flashlight, every shadow. Nothing. No sign of movement. I tried to convince myself it was just the building creaking, but something in the atmosphere had changed. The silence felt alive. The following nights were worse. The noises returned, louder, closer. Sometimes they were footsteps echoing down the hallways when I was completely alone.
Starting point is 00:45:28 Other times, a metallic sound like something heavy being dragged across the concrete floor. And once, I heard whispers, voices that seemed to come from the walls, nonsensical murmurs that faded the moment I tried to follow them. I started seeing things too shadows crossing in the corner of my eye fleeting movements in the gloom but when I turned my head there was nothing
Starting point is 00:45:54 my anxiety turned into paranoia any noise any shadow made me jump I knew I wasn't alone in that factory but I had no idea what was there with me I decided to install security cameras I placed several in the spots where I'd heard the most noises or noticed the movement If someone was entering the building, I would catch it on video.
Starting point is 00:46:19 That night I did my rounds as usual, though every step took an enormous effort. The air felt thicker, heavier. When my shift ended, I went to the small security office and turned on the monitors to review the recordings. The video started. The first few minutes showed nothing unusual, empty hallways, silent rooms. But then, I saw it. On one of the cameras, a figure moved in the distance right at the edge of the frame. Tall, thin, with abnormally long, slender limbs that moved in a jerky way,
Starting point is 00:46:55 as if an invisible puppet master were pulling its strings. I froze. The figure slid through the hallways, always avoiding the cameras, as if it knew exactly where they were. It never showed its face, but its silhouette was enough to chill the blood. It wasn't human. There was something in the way it moved. and how it blended into the shadows that made it clear. That thing didn't belong in this world.
Starting point is 00:47:21 The figure appeared in almost all the recordings, always behind me, always watching. My stomach turned when I realized it had followed me all night, staying out of my sight, waiting for me. I jumped to my feet, determined to leave. But at that moment a crash shook the hallway outside the office. A sharp, metallic bang. something or someone had knocked something large over.
Starting point is 00:47:48 Fear pinned me in place, but curiosity was stronger. I grabbed my flashlight and opened the door cautiously. The hallway was completely dark. I could hear my own breathing, fast, uneven. The noise had come from farther down, near one of the old storage rooms. I moved slowly, my heart hammering. With each step the temperature seemed to drop. The air grew colder, heavier, as if the darkness itself were breathing.
Starting point is 00:48:18 When I reached it, the door was wide open, swaying slowly, as if pushed by the wind. I pointed the flashlight inside, empty, except for something carved into the floor. Symbols, uneven, deep marks cut into the concrete. I didn't recognize any of them, but they looked ancient, ritualistic, almost malicious. My stomach churned. A normal person hadn't done that. And then I felt it. A presence behind me.
Starting point is 00:48:51 Cold. Hostel. Close. I turned slowly. The flashlight trembled in my hand. There it was. The figure. Just a few meters away.
Starting point is 00:49:04 Tall. Motionless. Its face hidden in the gloom. It made no sound. It didn't move. But I could feel. feel its stare fixed on me, piercing straight through. I didn't wait for it to do anything. I ran. I ran through the hallways like I never had in my life. My footsteps thundered, and behind
Starting point is 00:49:26 me I could hear it slow, steady, as if it enjoyed the game, as if it knew I had no escape. When I finally saw the exit, I shoved the doors with all my strength and burst out into the freezing night air. I kept running until I reached my car. I was shone. shaking, gasping, but I managed to start the engine. The roar of the vehicle felt like the most comforting sound in the world. I sped away without looking back, leaving that damned factory behind. The next day I quit. I left the uniform, the keys, everything.
Starting point is 00:50:02 I never went back. I don't know what that thing was. I don't want to know. I only know it was there before me, waiting for someone. and I was unlucky enough to be the one who found it. Story 8. I used to work for a delivery company. My job was simple.
Starting point is 00:50:25 Drop off packages, collect payments, and move on to the next address. It wasn't an exciting job, but it paid the bills, and that was enough. Normally, and I worked during the day. Though sometimes when things were slow, I took night shifts to earn a little extra. It was during one of those nights that everything changed. That shift started like any other. I was assigned a delivery in a neighborhood I didn't know. It was an old area with run-down houses and silent streets.
Starting point is 00:50:56 Too silent. As I drove through those deserted streets, I had a strange feeling, like something wasn't right, but I pushed it out of my mind. After all, it was just another delivery. When I arrived at the address, the place looked even worse than I'd imagined.
Starting point is 00:51:14 The paint on the front was peeling, and the windows were dark without a single light. I double-checked the package number. It matched perfectly. I swallowed, picked up the box, and walked toward the door. With every step, that uneasy feeling grew stronger. I knocked softly. A few seconds passed before the door opened with a creek. Two men were standing in front of me. They were shorter than I was, but something about them made me sure. shudder. A heavy, violent energy. Before I could say a word, I saw the glint of a weapon. One of them had a gun, and in an instant, everything changed. They grabbed me hard and yanked me inside. I lost my balance and fell onto the living room floor as the door slammed shut behind me.
Starting point is 00:52:05 The inside was dark and suffocating. A smell of dampness and dust filled the air. I tried to speak. To ask what was happening, but one of them shoved me to the floor again. The one with the gun pointed it directly at my face. His breathing was heavy. His stare empty. Cold sweat ran across my forehead. Fear crushed my chest. I didn't have time to react. A hard blow hit me in the side, stealing the air from my lungs. Then another, straight to my face. I felt an explosion of pain in my jaw, and the metallic taste of blood filled my mouth. My vision blurred. The punches kept coming. Each impact made me flinch, and all I could do was cover myself as best I could, hoping they would stop. It was as if they wanted to destroy me, not just rob me. When they finally stopped,
Starting point is 00:53:01 I could barely move. My body burned, and breathing was torture. One of them leaned over me and started going through my pockets. They took my wallet, my cash, everything I had. In seconds, they took all my earnings for the day. They weren't satisfied with that. They searched my jacket, looking for anything else they could take. When they were done, they stepped back. I tried to sit up, but the pain wouldn't let me. That was when the man with the gun crouched down, grabbed me by the collar of my uniform and pulled me close to his face. I felt his hot breath and the smell of tobacco in his voice as he whispered. If you tell anyone what happened, we'll find you, and not just you.
Starting point is 00:53:49 Your family too. Understood. I nodded weakly. I couldn't speak. Terror paralyzed me more than the pain. They weren't just robbing me anymore. They were breaking me, making sure fear would keep me silent. The man let go of me roughly. Then they turned around, opened the door and walked out
Starting point is 00:54:11 without looking back. The door slamming shut echoed like a sentence. I don't know how long I lay on the floor. The ceiling shifted in front of my eyes as I tried to breathe to understand what had just happened. Finally, with a superhuman effort, I managed to stand. Every movement hurt. Every breath was a reminder of the beating I'd taken. I knew I couldn't stay there. If they came back, I wouldn't leave alive. I stumbled to the door and went outside. The cold night air hit my face, but it didn't bring relief. The streets were still empty, but now the silence felt hostile, as if the neighborhood itself knew what had happened and was keeping the secret. Every step toward my car was agony. When I finally reached it, I collapsed into the driver's seat.
Starting point is 00:55:03 I sat there shaking, trying to steady my breathing. Fear squeezed my chest, and the pain started to feel stronger. More real, now that the adrenaline was fading. I thought about going to the police, but the man's words echoed in my mind. We know where you live. We know about your family. Fear took over completely. I started the engine and drove.
Starting point is 00:55:28 I didn't look back. I never wanted to see that house again. When I got home, I went straight to the bathroom. I looked at myself in the mirror. I barely recognized myself. My face was swollen, my lips split, my clothes torn and stained with blood. But I was alive. I washed up as best I could, trying to erase the traces of the night, but it was useless.
Starting point is 00:55:55 No matter how hard I scrubbed, I couldn't wash away the mrs. memory of their hands, their blows, their threats. It was as if they had left a shadow stuck to my skin. The next day I called work and said I was sick. I couldn't go back out, not after that. I spent the day in bed, unable to sleep. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw them, standing in front of me, with those cold stairs, enjoying my fear. Days turned into weeks. The bruises faded. The physical pain eased, but the fear didn't. It was still there, following me everywhere. I looked over my shoulder every time I went out, convinced I would see them again.
Starting point is 00:56:41 I never told anyone what happened that night. Silence became my refuge and my sentence.
