hey everyone my name is matt mccorry and i played the character asher millstone on how to get away
with murder and i'm jack fallahy and i played connor walsh on that very same tv show and this
is the how we got away with murder podcast hey hey bud hey bud hello listeners hello listeners
audience we are back on how we got away with murder we have come back to the podcast this
is very exciting for us because we're recording on january 21st so the show the podcast premieres
tomorrow yes tomorrow that's right i love that for us yeah so again very similar to
how we were making the show how to get away with murder today we're discussing episode four let's
get to scooping and so while we were filming episode four the show had still not come out
but we're starting to reach the end of making episodes in a container in isolation right in
our isolation chamber yeah in our isolation chamber completely sensory deprived from the
feedback of critics and audiences that's right but yeah this one is a fun one i'm really excited
i did not shockingly not shockingly i i didn't remember going into this episode how big of an
episode it is but i truly think that this is one of like the most important episodes in the entire
show in thematically what it starts to establish and sort of a stepping stone for all of the things
that we explore on the show going forward totally and some really exciting moments in it yes yeah
there's a lot of things in this episode that there's just some really cool plot moments you
know that really just yeah they're awesome yeah i couldn't agree more okay so let's set it up this
episode let's get to scooping it was written by erica green swafford it was directed by laura
innis who is a dear friend of the show she she comes back to direct more she also comes back
later to play one of our characters governor burkhead um for those that don't know laura
you know is an incredibly accomplished director she was nominated for an emmy for an episode of
the west wing that she directed but before that she you know was a prolific actress yeah and was
one of the longest running cast members on er so i think it's worth pointing out because this feels
like a really acting performance heavy episode and i think that we always benefited as a cast
when we had directors that had acting experience especially someone like laura who had so much
experience yeah that's always super helpful yeah totally um and then i also had the opportunity of
working with her later on mercy street right which we had a couple other murder albums that's right
join us for was that was that at the beginning of how to get away that you shot that or right
before i can't remember it was it coincided so i think after the first season of how to get with
murder i went to go do the first season of mercy street okay right which if you haven't seen it
check it out it's on pbs um it's a civil war drama so yeah i did two seasons of that uh so i
would like you know we would shoot how to get with murder and then yeah on a hiatus i would go to
mercy street in virginia so it was always nice to see familiar faces there yeah but yeah so we
have laura at the helm and then this episode aired on october 16th 2014 but it was filmed in la
august 12th to august 25th ah so yeah this is like right you know the show premieres in september
right so this is we're getting towards the end of us making this show in a bubble oh my god i
forgot that it hadn't aired yet it hadn't aired yeah wow wow yeah yeah so we still did not know
how it was going to be received i mean we had a pretty good idea right that that we were we were
making something juicy but yeah it it had not been released out into the world yet which i think
makes this talking about this episode even i don't know like more special in some way that it has all
of these sort of iconic moments and it just it's still it was still just for us yeah which i think
felt kind of special at least for me at that time where i was like oh like like i remember like bill
delia who's our producing director he i remember he pulled me aside during some of the earlier
episodes and was like you should really enjoy this like making the episode or making the making
the show just for us right now like just for the family right right before it got out into the world
wise words yeah he's like before you go on reddit and yeah before you go anonymously on reddit and
then need to get a therapist because you're not doing well yeah the foresight yeah exactly yeah
i love that i'm gonna read the log line for us yeah yeah yeah let's read what the logs are read
us in brother great when a high-profile murder case lands on analisa's desk she pushes her
students to think like predators not prosecutors testing their instincts and loyalty as they
navigate evidence interrogations and courtroom strategy secrets start slipping alliances fray
and rebecca's mysterious past threatens to unravel everything the keating five have built
tensions rise and the line between right and wrong becomes dangerously blurred wow yeah you don't
even need to watch it now i don't even need to watch it although i just did you did that's true
so i'm ahead of you me too all right let's let's jump right in so we recap this is like i think
one of the fastest recaps i've seen for the show where it just very quickly you know reminds us
that annalise is going to represent rebecca in the lila stangard case it reminds us of the
cliffhanger of episode three which is that rebecca has just confessed to the murder on tape right no
and then it quickly don't do it it quickly uh jumps between like the budding romances on the
show so connor and oliver at their apartment and then laurel meeting con at the bar and then it's
just michaela saying it's the only way to destroy the dna as we you know show quickly show the fire
just to remind us that there's a murder going on right and this is before you were named colliver
right was that an audience was that a fan yeah i kind of think that i kind of think colliver
if i had to guess was born out of twitter yeah that makes sense what's the word for
a show pairing like a couple on a stand like a stand yeah sure is there another word yeah
there's another word that i'm totally blanking on yeah i need to go i need to go back on my
twitter too incredible people are going to comment and be like how could you forget this obvious
this so this word that you read 10 000 times on twitter right i'm burning my altar to my
my coliver altars yeah gosh what is the name of that shipping shipping shipping is that it
shipping or showman shipping and standing no showman showman is like the old school that's
like that's oh showman's is you're preparing for broadway showman's is like when you and i fall in
love well making right that's true that's a showman's yeah yeah um okay so people were
shipping call over on twitter yeah we've established that my millennial brain is just
like breaking in real time that's right i can feel it fracturing i have i have nodes monitoring
my brain activity during this yeah just flat lighting oh lord lord help me if someone can
fix my brain please uh leave a review and let me know okay so we are in scene one we're back in
ak's house uh connor is yelling at mikaela it's night x um laurel tries to take a softer approach
with her and connor has this great line i love her little perfect brain doesn't know how to handle
any of this and then west suggests again west kind of puppeteering the night as as we've started to
see him lying about the coin flip and you know maybe west isn't such a puppy after all he he
suggests we take mckayla to the woods while he gets rebecca out of there and then we hear a knock
and it is asher hey me hey it's asher joining night act he's knocking at the door because he's
seen connor's car in the driveway and yeah and then connor just like really starts to fall apart
here um he's just like laughing maniacally as as asher's you know trying to look through the
windows and come around and you did a great job here you did a really really good job with this
thanks yeah yeah it also didn't for some reason it just hit me differently watching it this time
that like having you basically had to revisit that state every week every episode yeah i don't know
why it didn't and that's like a really as for audience members to know that's like a it's a
hard thing to do you're like really you know playing something just so extreme you know an
extreme state of being and even though it plays as like you could think it's like oh we shot all
my deck stuff in like one you know in one episode and then they cut it to you know to just reveal a
little bit at once as opposed to like oh no every episode you're revisiting that state so that's
like a lot the one thing the i appreciate you saying that but the one thing i liked about it
is i think it i think it supported me a little bit in we've talked about this but i had such a
difficult time not knowing what was coming next in the script and it was almost a comfort that
for so much of night x connor has this sort of like joker-esque like response to to the horrors
of the evening so it allowed me to i think be less concerned with the continuity of emotional
state because he could be so high and so low sure immediately in the same the same scene i also
remember feeling like i felt like it took me forever to to become a part of night x but it's
only the fourth episode and i'm in there i guess though the time of the pilot and the distance
between like the pilot and you know when we started shooting the show and all that i was
like am i ever going to be a part of i didn't know um and then and then there i am i was walking
around you know the little we shot that at the studio so i was walking around just the studio
basically at the outside with like a few like sparse fake trees and like sandbags yes and like
lighting equipment all around me. Did you do that for this scene? I did. Yeah. Got it. Even though
we don't see you. Yeah. Yeah. So they shot you on the exterior of Annalise's house and then chose to
not use it in this episode. I don't know. I don't think they shot me actually. I think they only
shot from the inside. They just had me coming. I mean, they shot me through the walls. They had
you acting in the scene. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Got it. Yeah. That makes sense. Okay. We'll be
right back now back to class so asher's pounding on the windows the door laurel finally gets connor
to lay down and he lays he lays on the ground next to uh sam dead sam played by tom verica and
looking looks into his eyes muttering that they're they're so so screwed and i remember this very
well because we come back to tom verica in this position so many times across several episodes
yeah and he would like be directing an episode of scandal and then come over and they would cover
him in blood and they would put him on the ground for hours you know for hours i was wondering that
yeah because you'd have we'd have to shoot you know if we haven't talked about this yet like
we shot with three camera teams yeah so there were three different cameras filming every scene
right simultaneously yeah and many different setups and you know there's so much coverage
yeah and some of these scenes especially the bigger more emotional scenes would would take
hours to film and i just remember i remember thinking how annoyed i would be that i had i
had to like lay in fake blood fake blood's like sticky it's very uncomfortable sensory it's a
sensory nightmare yeah i would have i would have a really hard time with that yeah and i just
remember tom verica being so like he never he set the tone in such a way that i i really respect
yeah was there ever like a double that came in or like uh no wow i don't think so i think it was
just tom so he was there for like full days just laying there oh my god yeah i think he was just
there in sticky sticky special effect blood yeah wow okay so we go from me looking into tom's
beautiful eyes to seven weeks earlier take off your clothes connor is barging into oliver's
department saying that we are red-blooded american males let's not turn sex into a bad thing
and oliver drops the word couple for the first time um which is a little foreshadowing yeah and
uh i love that you know connor sort of razzes him and says ah like what's next we change our
relationship status on facebook which is such a time it's such a time it's such a dated reference
yeah you know anachronistic is a word yeah but no that yeah that was like that was that was the
one of the defining parts of the relationship escalator at that time you know and if you
weren't if you were like quote unquote in a relationship but it wasn't on facebook
like that was a problem yeah was it real yeah exactly i remember too in college using like
when my girlfriend and i broke up with each other you know having to like change my relationship
status yeah you know to single which was like i was devastated by and i updated my status
to like half of a song lyric from our favorite song and then i was just like constantly checking
facebook until like a couple hours later she updated her status to like the the other half
of the line just just as like a nice like oh i'm thinking about yeah which watching this scene
really brought me back to that yeah i feel like it was like my most emo was ever was in like
facebook statuses and i mean maybe before that like aol instant messenger um yeah my messages
i didn't really do myspace but yeah gotcha okay cool cool cool yeah aim away messages were yeah
super cringe but i love them yeah um also i think this is the only scene probably in the history of
the show where they had to put sweat on me like this looks like fake sweat to me right you know
which is also uncomfortable as fuck it's like it's like glycerin it's like sticky yeah it's
gross yeah like stained stuff it's gnarly yeah anyway we go from there connor is coming into
court and he is wet he's out of the shower and annalise is arguing that the confession should
not be considered when setting rebecca's bail judge doesn't care sets the bail at a million
dollars which i don't it seems like a lot yeah maybe that's i don't know yeah and not for griffin
not for Griffin not for Griffin with his rich parents and before Rebecca is pulled out of the
court Wes whispers to her that he he needs the code to the phone yeah we quickly jump to Annalise
and Bonnie they're meeting with Rebecca and they are trying to get the details they're trying to
get her to open up and give them the details surrounding her arrest so that they can best
defend her and and figure out what the next play is and you know they're sort of badgering her
badgering her badgering her and then katie opens up with this i didn't do it i didn't kill her
yeah and they just knock this out of the park i mean this is some this is some top tier acting
yeah katie yeah it's really good it's like devastating there's two two sentences and then
you know they go into a little bit of a explanation about west being right and griffin was going to
pin it on rebecca um but i just think the delivery is so good it's like you can see like all the
characters just like trauma you know and and it reminds me of like i guess like videos almost of
like an animal that's been like abused you know like a like a dog or a cat and like the caretakers
trying to like approach it and they're like you know kind of lashing out at it and then you know
eventually sort of the trust grows and all that. I mean, it's a universal animal experience,
you know. Also occurred to me that like Wes sharing that information with Rebecca is probably
a breach of the client attorney privilege, right? Because Wes got that information when Griffin was
a client of Annalisa's. I think when we were all listening to him and he was talking about,
oh, this is what happened, you know, this and this. And that's, I think, how he found out
that he was planning to just say that it's rebecca's fault yeah i was kind of thinking
about that too because was she his attorney at any point or was griffin just meeting with
annalise to be his perspective oh maybe interesting because i it then made me wonder like do you have
attorney client privilege if money hasn't exchanged hands right you know what i'm saying i feel like
you yeah i don't know i don't know i feel like i'm gonna say you must but i could be wrong you know
Yeah. I don't know. If you're a lawyer, chime in because we only played them on TV.
Right. Also, if you're pro bono and there's no money exchanging hands, I don't know.
Oh, yeah. Good point. Yeah. Well, we'll find out next week.
So this admission from Rebecca that Wes has told her what Griffin would do leads us to Annalise
reaming Wes saying that his big mouth got Rebecca to confess, which I don't fully follow at this
point like the show's moving so quickly and i was like wait why is wes why was wes telling rebecca
that griffin was going to pin it on her why did that lead rebecca to confessing yeah my assumption
was because she just thought that she wouldn't stand a chance and and i guess maybe they thought
that they were in it together initially got it and then she was just like i have no yeah no way
of winning with this guy with all the money and all that stuff so yeah makes sense i'm in okay
yeah from there we go to the Keating Five they are in Annalise's house doing some work and
there's an upcoming exam in torts and Michaela is trying to get one of Khan's outlines from Laurel
but Laurel ices her out so there's a little fight amongst the ladies and that takes us you know we
whip hand over to Frank and Bonnie who are starting to haze the students um a little bit discussing
who's going to be the shooting star and they uh i like this i like seeing frank and bonnie like as
a duo and like you know kind of razzing the students together yeah um and they have the
the great nicknames of uh hair gel wallflower and prom queen yeah yeah i feel like we should
have cut some of those yeah i really remember this so vividly i feel like this particular part
especially asia's portrayal of michaela here i feel like yes i feel like this is like peak
mckayla season one yes um yeah yeah yeah i this scene and and later when she says i'm not i'm not
the shooting star like it's it's peak it is peak asia as mckayla yeah yeah more ignorant comments
and a herpes joke from asher oh yeah can't wait to see him grow up a little bit yeah physically
painful yeah asher will grow up i think from what i remember he does yeah he does yeah somewhat
it just feels like it's so physically cringy at the moment. Yeah, totally. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. So
Annalise comes out of the room with Wes and says that he is off the Rebecca case and we're going
to go meet our new client. Let's go meet her. So we are a walk and talk through the lobby of a
fancy business building. And Annalise is briefly telling us about our new client who has been
accused of insider trading we go up the elevators we open right into the office and the fbi is
raiding it it's a it's got this like wolf of wall street type moment where it's just utter chaos
people are still trying to do execute trades like on on landlines right and then we meet our new
client marin trudeau played by the brilliant elizabeth perkins um just another all-star
you know casting I mean yeah Elizabeth Perkins is coming into this from three Emmy nominations
yeah which I remember being a big fan of so it was very cool to get to work opposite her
totally yeah and yeah I just I think this was like one of the bigger initial sort of like
guest stars that we that the show had you know or someone comes in for like one episode just to
just to act with Viola yeah literally yeah I mean it's like what what an incredible
pitch you know if you're if your agent comes to you and it's like hey you want to do one scene
where you just get to act in seven different or you want to do one episode where you get
seven different scenes with Viola Davis I'm like yes please yeah exactly but this is such a good
character intro as well where she's she despite the FBI rating she is you know sort of like the
ringleader of her devoted employees and she takes the warrant burns in front of the fbi which is
a very punk rock move uh-huh um and then the fbi whips out a laptop and shows everyone
which seems like i don't know like bad police work somehow they show everyone a video of miss
miss trudeau getting down to business with the ceo of edson pharmaceuticals which is the company
she is accused of insider trading who in that video to me looked exactly like tom verica yes
for a second yeah for a second it does kind of look like tom verica i had the same feeling yeah
um or the same thought yeah anyway this we we get out of the scene with an absolute banger of a line
where she turns to us and says take some notes kids this is what pilates can do for you yeah
and the two horniest guys in the room you and i asher and connor yeah yeah scintillating yeah
they like it they like the line i also i also remember first time i watch it and enjoying this
when i watched it again that some of the background actors like behind the laptop were like extremely
like excited like and smiling a lot about about this whole thing yeah that was really funny um
i barely remember this this location in the office which is really strange to me because
there's so much happening but i remember being in the lobby of the building it's funny i only
remember being so this is one of the fewer times that we they didn't build the set you know if
there was a one-off set like this we would sometimes go shoot on location so like in a real
building instead of them building you know a temporary set and so because i think the office
space is so big it was more cost effective for us to go shoot somewhere in probably downtown la
yeah if i had to guess yep i remember being like on the office floor because i remember they pulled
me aside and i had to record wild lines of connor singing christmas carols in the pilot
and usually you would do an adr session where you like go into you know a studio often on the lot
or right close to the lot and you would have a session where you're recording with the the sound
engineers but for whatever reason they had to get the wild line then maybe because it's like you
know the show's premiering in a week or two right right how do you describe what wild line means by
the way to audience like yeah wild line is like they're they're they're just recording you doing
like a line or two that for whatever reason has been compromised on the day that you actually
filmed the scene right and i remember being really self-conscious because there were all of these
background artists sitting around like eating like cheez-its and whatever and they were like
all right can you just sing jingle bells maniacally right right i'm like i'm like the
sound booth you know was like right by background holding so i was just essentially singing in front
of everyone right i was like we can't find a better place to do this like all right let's do
it right here i guess that's really funny i also in the beginning we were on locations more than
studio to do i think for for like this different you know like case of the week sort of things
like i feel like you transition that later and i do but i do remember it was stressful because i
just learned to drive like oh very very recently before it and a lot of locations were in downtown
la which is kind of confusing it's a lot of one-way streets a lot of traffic a lot of shit
going on and i just remember always being terrified like i was going to be late or get lost or totally
you know i did at one point start to drive down a one-way street and thankfully someone's screaming
was on the street was like okay oh gosh yeah thank god you're okay yeah and now a word from
our sponsors and we are back all right so we go from here to bonnie badgering the da about getting
a copy of the confession tape who is not going for it um i have no idea where this scene was
shot i was trying to figure that out i'm quite sure i have i have a weird uncanny ability to
like memorize pattern of like architecture or like architecture and like even like wallpaper
sometimes so like i'll be like i'll see a picture and i'll of just like the wall in a restaurant
like oh i've been to that restaurant so i think this was actually at sunset gower studios out
outside kind of like when you would drive in the lot and then like right to the left there was just
like a part of the building that had a lot of like kind of silver colored like beams and and
and stuff so yeah i don't know something it's it's really it's strange i've had it before even
when i travel and i'm like i feel like i've been to this place and it's just like a certain vibe
i don't know i want to make a really niche like superhero um well you should do geocassing
it sounds like oh i've never heard that but okay you gotta look it up it's these guys and gals
that can like literally like it'll just be like a google map or like a google earth image of like
architecture and they'll be like that's florence italy based off of like blah blah blah if it
sounds like with some training you could get like pattern recognition of different areas true true
i think you'd have a you'd have to have a knowledge of like yeah probably like what is typical to an
area rather than just kind of like you know yeah exactly i'd be like the uh you know the wild
cannon guy who just shows up who has like no experience but exactly yeah it looks like florence
Italy strong and wrong yeah exactly okay we go from this confrontation with the DA to Annalise
and Marin are being boss ladies in Marin's office it seems like they have a bit of a history and
know each other but we don't fully know why Marin claims that she never bought the stock she didn't
do the insider trading and maybe maybe she was hacked and then Annalise suggests that you know
maybe it was one of her employees which marin like is adamantly opposed to and says that they're
loyal and and no way that anyone internally would do something like this to her and then she you
know raising the stakes of the episode says if this goes to trial the firm will go under yeah
because she'll have lost all credibility on the street as the finance people say i think that's
right do we know how much money it was by the way that the that they supposedly by the insider
trading we're gonna win i don't know that we ever have a number yeah said yeah explicitly yeah um
but she has she does mention in this scene that she has already lost 50 million dollars worth of
clients which is not nothing 15 i think right no i think 50 okay that makes more sense she said i
thought she said 15 10 clients i was like okay 1.5 million a client no no no no no i honestly i was
like oh 50 like this is like not that big of a brokerage firm but you know right all right we're
back in Annalise's house and the only way to keep Marin out of trial is to find the real culprit
that is our next play and so the Keating Five are dispatched to interview the employees because
despite what Marin has said to Annalise she thinks it's most definitely one of the employees
Wes asks how she knows it's one and she responds by saying I don't I just know everybody hates
their boss which seems like a very important line for just the show as a whole because I think
that becomes a very real theme in Annalisa's law practice.
Totally. Yeah. I love also the line by Michaela here. You can't, you can't be naturally gifted
at torts. Yeah. Yeah. I also love that. Like Michaela just doesn't stop talking about torts
the entire episode, which is, which is good. Like it is a good reminder that like, oh,
these people are in law school, which is like famously hard. Right. And Michaela seems to be
the only person taking her studies seriously right now yeah i also can't remember what a
tort is and every time i hear it i just picture one of those little like desserts like a tart
oh yeah it's it's no it's it's not it is that's what it is right yeah you're right it's tarts
it's a it's a tart yeah no no i want a tart yeah i think it's just when like one party wrongs
another thing that sounds familiar but anyway who cares anyway we go from there the keating
five are on the case it's a montage inspired to become lawyers who can help us yeah well like they
they know torts yeah exactly they're currently in torts that's right they're listening to this
podcast in torts class right just like thinking of tarts now yeah thinking of tarts about six
lawyers in my family are going to text me after listening to this saying how disappointed they
that i couldn't i couldn't say what torts is oh my god uh i think like i think like defamation
is torts you know okay chime in in the comments yeah uh okay clearly we learned a ton about being
in fake law school that's right anyway we're in a spicy montage sequence um we're interviewing
employees everyone seems to love marin and then west west while he's interviewing one of the
employees he starts to like get the the beginnings of an idea that like oh hey maybe it's easy to do
some insider training training to pay right to pay rebecca's bail um i'm gonna commit a federal
crime to get my neighbor who i barely know out of jail um and then connor meets pax um maron's
assistant played by Nico Pepe who I knew a little bit I had met Nico I had met Nico briefly at a
barbecue maybe a month or two before this oh no way also this is not the first scene we filmed
together the first scene is a spicier scene that comes later so I will talk a little bit about that
and what it was like to do that scene with someone who I kind of knew yeah and no intimacy coordinator
and no intimacy court yeah yeah we also see asher get called out uh for his sexism for the first
time which is very nice yes a relief as a viewer um calls him out for using the word ball buster
and we use that term for a man and then i think i remembered that asher actually uses that term
is the first line which was also maybe like the first line of my audition was where i'm talking
about the camera is like going down the room in the classroom and you hear me talking about
annalise and i'm something i think i say something like you know yeah i hear she's a ball buster
yeah so yeah i think that's right that comes back i guess yeah yeah so as asher gets called out the
other keating five are also not faring very well they're not they're not doing a great job of being
spies michaela gets sort of blocked by the employee that clearly they're have nefarious
designs and they are trying to to figure out who uh the rat was yeah is and that cuts us directly
to how dare you marin is in annalise's house and arguing again defending her employees saying that
they're they're actually loyal and we start to get you know some backstory here where marin
says that annalise has been her lawyer through you know all these companies and divorces and
and it has occurred to her that annalise knows all of her dirty laundry but she doesn't know
any of annelise's and maybe she's just learned some that annelise doesn't trust anyone which
again great thematic bread crumb yeah great thematic bread crumb it's a tongue twister
great thematic thematic bread crumbs thematic bread crumbs yeah and we and we i feel like
this i think this is what you're referring to getting so hungry thing about bread crumbs and
torts and tarts um but um the sort of foreshadowing of later when we see for the first time we see
Annalise's kind of public exterior drop yes yeah and and it's just a really yeah it's it's set up
really well yeah yeah 100% agree yeah yeah that takes us to the bedroom where Sam's getting
dressed for a little department dinner and Annalise makes a pass at him and he you know
gently rejects her and says that he'll be home soon and then we get like a nice old medium close
up on Annalise's face just watching him walk out of the room and again Viola's eyes like what she's
able to convey yeah these moments is just unbelievable yeah and then we hard cut to
Jaguar by Mogwai is playing there's I mean Fotech puts in some like incredible incredible heaters
in this episode mogwai mogwai mogwai and nate is in sam's car looking through the gps
we sort of remember that nate is still checking up on sam's whereabouts and it looks like sam's
gonna walk in on the car yeah and find nate there it seems undeniable that's about to happen yeah
it seems inevitable and then you know i had the thought watching i was like wait does annalise
know is annalee stalling with sex so that nate can get in the car right but i think probably not
because yeah he already lied to her about the alibi right right yeah yeah yeah so this is just
nate going rogue right yeah this is nate going rogue now yeah oh yeah okay sick anyway so nate
is not in the car when sam turns the corner and covers by saying that he was on a night jog and
saw that his the light was on in his car and you he wanted to turn off so the battery didn't die
which is i mean me as i don't know just someone that's owned a car before i'd be like okay like
don't go in my car yeah yeah that was like an incredibly awkward moment yeah like a super
awkward moment yeah very awkward i mean even the way that nate said is is just so funny is like
immediately defensive but yeah it was it was very strange also felt like maybe there's like
undertone of like race sort of stuff too right like you know like where sam i don't know nate
is implying that he's thinking that or i don't know i was just wondering what was yeah what was
going on in everyone's minds with that you know where he totally clearly was in the car yeah yeah
and then we reveal right at the end of the scene that bonnie is in her car parked across the street
and has witnessed the entire thing which is incredibly spicy yeah um and then we we poppy
pop we go to night x in the future and connor is driving he is detailing all the ways why they are
they are fucked even though they are going to great lengths to cover up their crime the most
notable probably being that asher now knows that they run the house right the fingerprints the
hairs the rug fibers in the car and he starts singing christmas carols again we can see jack's
singing skills now especially the uh the gay apparel trill i don't know if that's the word
yeah a little vibrato that i threw in i i justified that connor probably did some choir
or something love that uh yeah that is an acting choice yeah and but yeah i don't know i like i i
do like just seeing the juxtaposition between you know the characters on night x versus how they
present totally in present day in episodes yeah which is cool this actually reminds me also of
like a recurring dream that i have where that i think maybe comes from like doing the show where
i think that i've like killed someone accidentally in the dream i think i've like i've killed someone
in the past and then i'm like oh no i'm gonna be found out and it's no yeah and it's like i feel
like guilt about it and shame about it but also have to hide it um yeah yeah pretty stressful
anyway it kind of reminded me a little bit of that uh do you have do you work stress dreams
not too much i don't think no i'm starting to have a lot because i'm getting ready for this
this show on broadway yeah and last night i had a dream that uh it was one of because i start
rehearsal next week. And when you're listening to this, dear listener, I will be in the throes
of rehearsal and hopefully doing a good job. But in my, in my dream last night, I show up to
rehearsal and one of the other actors was really hungry. And I was like, great, I'll go get you
food. And I like went out and got, was going to get him a burger. But then I was like, what if
he wants more than one burger? And so I ended up getting 11 burgers. And then I like come back to
the rehearsal room and i'm like juggling 11 burgers right which is too many burgers too
many burgers yeah and the director was like what are you doing like you're you're late because you
were buying 11 cheeseburgers that's true and i woke up and i was like huh seems like i'm a little
anxious about doing a good job that's funny anyway but i like i do like that dream jack was trying to
help another actor yeah totally and you could probably give those burgers out to other people
too and everyone would appreciate it you know yeah you're right so you're saying i should bring
eleven burgers yeah yeah yeah anything less is a failure but you're right right yeah um okay we
so we go from connor singing these christmas carols to annalise's house saying that he wants
to look into a new lead and he leaves asher then catches michaela trying to steal laurel's outline
and Michaela uh we talked about this at the beginning of the episode has this incredible
monologue about winning the trophy and saying that I am not the shooting star and this is yeah
this is peak peak peak Michaela and we go from there to Connor is in the copy room at the
brokerage firm and he is with Pax and I have a big zit on my forehead probably from stress
um and there is a sex scene that occurs and this was this was the first scene i had with nico
right i remember showing up to set and i was always anxious before doing sex scenes
and i remember a pa being like hey we want to introduce you to nico who's going to be playing
tax in the scene today and they walked me over and it was nico who i had met and we hung out
together and I remember him being like oh shit is this your show oh my god and I was like yeah man
and we're about to do a sex scene uh-huh um and you know back in this this time there there weren't
intimacy coordinators and it was kind of the wild west it was kind of like all right just like get
in there and do it yeah yeah which I really really struggled with and so it was made I think a little
bit even more uncomfortable that I was like oh I kind of know this person and now we just have to
like do this this sort of like choreographed scene yeah yeah intimacy coordinators are super important
yes I could not agree more I think that you know we started to like see them added I think like
Westworld on HBO maybe was an early adopter if I remember correctly but it wasn't for a couple
seasons on murder that it sort of became industry standard and and then they were on set with us
yeah but it's cool even to talk you know we'll talk about this more once we like introduce
intimacy coordinators but like it was often like dance choreographers stunt coordinators like like
people that just worked with movement of bodies on sets that were the first intimacy coordinators
right now i mean it is it is blossomed into such a nuanced totally role that i mean we have like
sex therapists educators like all sorts of people that have now become intimacy coordinators which
is really cool yeah it's a definitely a forward progression and i know that like i don't know
some people are resistant to it for some reasons but it doesn't make sense you know it's like if
you also if you don't personally want it that's okay but someone else might want it right like
we have to we have to plan like all consent for like the people who are most uncomfortable
yes in it and expressing their needs and wants and boundaries and start from there right totally
and like i think that yeah to that point i think it like it doesn't hurt anyone having in my opinion
it doesn't hurt the creative process it doesn't hurt the on-screen chemistry like it's just sort
of like a guardrail yeah yeah i've i have since like in the last couple years worked on films
with intimacy coordinators and i'm always like it's also just another cool creative perspective
to talk about like oh how would these two people have sex like what does that look like right which
maybe when you're doing a tv show like the director has 10 000 things to think about and they might not
be thinking about like oh this really fast sex scene between connor and pax like we know it
takes place in a copy room but beyond that they might not be thinking further totally i think
yeah the people who might poo poo coordinators are also probably people who poo poo like
affirmative consent and like having conversations about consent because they think it ruins
the spontaneity or whatever you know it's not it's like yeah yeah i will say that it was like
it was a blessing to have laura directing this episode because having come from you know being
an actress in hollywood for for decades where they were not coordinators she was really gentle
in directing the scene and knew how uncomfortable sex scenes can be you know you have hundreds of
people that are just watching you do simulated sex yeah and i think for me it was always a weird
thing of well we can't show that much on network television right you're inevitably doing more than
you can show to just go through the motions and that to me always felt unnecessary i guess is the
word totally yeah that's yeah that's where i feel like an intimacy coordinator their role would shine
right because they're like yeah you know what's the shot what do we need you know and just kind
of creating the boundaries around it yeah yeah totally and even just like marking through things
so that you're not doing too much right exactly okay so they have this this steamy sex hookup
and then we go to con is in the ak house wait before we go to that question yeah when you when
you ask when you say to pax when connor says to pax does anyone know anyone is that i guess i i
read that this particular time is like a cake and at least like rubbing off on you a bit i don't
know if that was was that at all part of what you were thinking in that or not necessarily i don't
know i don't know if i had internalized it that way yeah i think it was more of a projection of
like connor just being emotionally guarded sure yeah him probably feeling destabilized that he's
like starting to get close with oliver that makes sense yeah and that it was more sort of like a
projection of that yeah that makes sense yeah i don't know i'd have to think about that more yeah
yeah that makes sense anyway so we're with con trying to help get rebecca's bail together with
wes and laurel wes suggests that they do some insider trading with the the three thousand
dollars that they have which is incredible hilarious and then frank comes in he breaks up
he breaks that he has this great line of like oh do we have to get you a naughty mat
because because wes is talking about rebecca's case which he's been kicked off of and frank
seems to not love that laurel and khan you know seeing each other and there's a peck on the lips
that frank does not respond well to and then we are straight back with pax and connor khan by the
way shoulder checks frank on the way out of the room which is a bold does he i didn't move yeah
yeah it is a bold move especially when you learn more about frank later 100 i wonder if it was
scripted yeah i don't know yeah but it's it's there yeah yeah if arjun just like decided to
do that which would be very cool yeah anyway we're back with pax and connor pax gets a call
you know connor's like oh must be your boyfriend and bounces uh and then we reveal that pax is
actually on the call with his co-conspirators that he that he is responsible for the insider
trading and that he just hooked up with one of the interns of the legal team to make sure there
weren't any suspicions and we slowly pan over to reveal that connor has left his phone recording
the conversation i do not know if if you are legally allowed to record someone without their
consent but honor does not care yeah it doesn't matter doesn't matter and uh then we have this
line and he did this thing to my ass that made my eyes water which comes back later and we show that
connor has now recovered his phone he's listening to this confession that he's gotten out of packs
did you come up with an idea for what you what the technique of the eye watering no i think that i
was like so nutrient deprived because i was cutting water weight to be sure this on television that i
don't think i thought that much about these scenes on that day unfortunately yeah maybe he was just
very vulnerable and so his eyes were watering because yeah that's it yeah yeah yeah anyway we
hard cut to connor breaking up a body in the woods and he has a tire iron and he thinks he's just
detached the tibia he's not doing great here no um and this is you know i'm disappointed to say
that we were both wrong about the yeah about the title of the episode yeah i thought remember i
thought that it was connor's line but i was like well surely they didn't give connor back to back
title right but yeah connor says let's get to scooping and it makes it makes sense because
you're connor's like losing on the verge of losing his sanity like that line would not be said
otherwise i think yeah it's such a psycho line yeah oh yeah yeah and yeah he's talking about
scooping up sam's body parts into garbage bags yeah oh my god yeah yeah and that um is definitely
my real sweat we can see we can see uh the real sweat versus versus the fake sweat yeah episode
yeah that's the real deal folks that's right and then we go from let's get to scooping to we are
hacking um we are in oliver's apartment yeah exactly there's some faux tech we're hacking
we're we're breaking laws um and i think connor speaks for all audience members when he says i
changed my mind i don't care there's explaining what the hacking is which i think is such a clever
line from the writers of like let's not actually explain this right let's let's have a character
on the show get us out of having to explain all the hacking yeah that's true also watching this
scene was the first time i ever i because i've never seen the show when we would film these
scenes whenever oliver was doing computer hacking and computer work the screen would just be black
or a green screen on it right or sometimes blue even um and so this is the first time i actually
got to see sort of like the terminal that he's like crushing code through right it was cool
yeah yeah that is true i forgot about that yeah you would you would not know looking at it yeah
exactly no we were just looking at a black screen and television magic yep television magic baby um
oliver has a bit of foreshadowing here hey i could get arrested for this and connor assures
him that he won't let that happen and i love that oliver casually mentions that connor seems to be
spending more time breaking laws than than learning laws in law school which is very true
and yeah anyway oliver's tracing the call the paxton call all of that and there's a little
cute little foreshadowing line at the end of the scene which is i know you love me and want to have
my babies yeah um all right we're at the police station with bonnie the cops tell her to take a
plea deal. Bonnie is pushing back and ask if, you know, if you guys are so sure that Rebecca did it,
why is Detective Nate Leahy investigating Sam Keating? And she says that, you know,
she saw with her very own eyes that Nate was in Sam's car, which seems like news
to the police chief or whoever it is that she's talking to. And with this sort of weaponizing
this information bonnie demands the unedited confession tape at first i thought i was like
oh nate's getting thrown under the bus again but i remember that bonnie does not know that ak was
asking nate to look into sam right yeah right does nick get in trouble for with the with the
police chief i don't know i can't remember i think he does i think yeah okay trouble damn yeah um we
go from the police from the the demand for the confession tape to annalise marin and frank are
listening to the pax recording connor you know says he obviously set her up and she can't believe
it but she wraps her head around it and faces the music and she leaves the office and we storm out
with her into the pit or the bullpen i guess of the office and she is confronting paxton in a very
fiery way and he admits it was him and saying that he felt like an accessory just to prop her up and
this is you know his chance to be something i think nico does a really lovely job here he does
a great job yeah yeah and marin hits him with the you know i loved you like you were my own son
and as if that isn't enough she goes on to say that you know paxton's family that rejected him
all those years ago presumably for being gay are finally going to have a real reason to be ashamed
of him and he's gonna go to prison and she's gonna make sure he's prosecuted to the furthest
extent of the law and that everyone in prison is gonna love him like it's it's really yeah dark and
yeah and intense and then she then she whips off her heel her louboutin her red bottom and whips
it at him and annalee's pulls marin off and well she's doing that no one notices except for connor
who says, I think, oh my God, that Paxton has climbed into the window and says, sorry, I'm sorry
before throwing himself out of the window. Yeah. That line, the way he delivered that was really
heartbreaking too. Like it just feels so, yeah, I don't know. It just really, it's a really good
delivery. And I just, yeah, I totally forgot about that. Yeah. Yeah. I was going to remember,
I have like a weird memory etched in my head where like, obviously they wouldn't for safety,
they would never allow an actor to be by an open window right and so like while we were while we
were shooting his side you know he was sort of like off camera you know for a lot of it um and
then they would do our reaction to they would flip around and do our reaction to him falling out how
do you fall even as an actor how do you fall out of a window like that and not get hurt i assume
the mats whatever mats he landed on must have been right below the sill or something like that but
he still has to be enough that because you think you see his feet go out too right i mean yeah i
can't that it's weird that i can't remember that part like i don't know because we were on an upper
floor so i think that they must have or did they build did they shoot that separately did they
build like a like a window i can't i can't remember i kind of think that they shot is
actually falling out as a separate piece yeah and then stitched it into the scene is my guess
that that's like a special effect yeah where they either shot it somewhere built on the studio
right and just him like falling yeah and falling backwards out of frame yeah would have been like
stitched in is my is my best guess yeah yeah highly traumatizing for connor really really
traumatizing i mean we we immediately go to the exterior of the building where connor's watching
the authorities take the body away and frank walks in and has this now you know what a shooting star
looks like which i think is an incredible delivery by charlie just like walking casually
throwing in this horrific statement when connor has just witnessed someone dying by suicide which
is horrific yeah all right connor shook we go to marin and annalise they're sharing a drink
she's drinking straight out of the bottle which i really liked um as a choice i'm sure elizabeth
came up with that herself if i had to guess and they're trying to figure out what the next play is
and you know marin reflects on how she shouldn't have said those things and it's her fault and
etc and we kind of see annalise's eyes dart over to west who's working on the other side of the
house which again i think really great breadcrumbs i'm just gonna keep saying breadcrumbs so that we
both get hungry yes um yes now we're from our sponsor oh we're from our sponsor yeah hero bread
hero bread oh my god yeah yeah i just had a bagel it was so good so um all right we go from that
little scene to frank and the keating five are trying to figure out who paxton made the trade
with this really jumped off to me because i was like wow connor literally just witnessed someone
dying by suicide who he had sex with less than 24 hours ago and he's back at work this is this
is a toxic work environment yes this is very real no um and asher pieces together how the two of the
other employees had been working with paxton to distract marin to pull off the trade right i
remember you have you have a great little uh you have a great line delivery of like we're we're
great spies or whatever it is i appreciate that i as i was watching it back i i like i'm pretty
bad at remembering names as much as i have that whatever gift for places or patterns or whatever
but i was just like i don't know what i'm talking about um as i'm watching it as i knew what i was
saying when i did it um but watching i'm like i don't get it um but um i also remember as an
actor being excited about this scene because it's the first time we see like asher show some signs
of intelligence and like you know yeah contributing positively uh yeah yeah yeah asher's getting some
touches yeah way to go asher yeah um okay and then we are quickly alternating between the class
and the office this is obviously something the show continues to do where we see some sort of
law practice or law knowledge that is being executed in the real world by annalise or the
keating five well we intercut with the classroom where she is teaching that to the class um so
annalise is teaching the class you know you don't you don't ask for the truth you pound it out of
them as we cut to her and the fbi interviewing these employees and sort of you know giving them
these little softball questions to tee them up for slaughter i guess for lack of a better word
yeah yeah um and this i think you know she starts lying about the testimony from other employees
pitting them against each other and you know it's just around i think a good reminder for everyone
listening that like never ever ever ever talk to the authorities without a lawyer present yeah it
is never to your benefit don't do it yeah i imagine yeah they probably would have been they're
kind of in a hard place in this thing because they're presenting as like so totally not remotely
guilty that to actually ask for someone who would also probably look guilty i mean obviously that's
true but it doesn't matter yeah no it doesn't matter but i think probably just even for the
sake of the episode it would have the viewer would have been like wait why are they you know
why are they like why are they luring up yeah why are they luring up yeah yeah but just for
real application always always lawyer up no matter what the music in this scene is absolutely
electric both botak is just delivered right here do you by the way do you have to get it for the
for like when you're offered a better deal you have to get that in writing you know for it to
become like binding probably yeah probably like i i would want it in writing i would want my i want
i would want my lawyer to look at my plea deal before i signed one right yeah i guess again in
this why you should lawyer up yeah and for the sake of the episode the theatricality would be
tipping their hand yeah of course you know but yeah yeah no i understand why it doesn't make
sense for the episode yeah yeah i wasn't just as i didn't think you understood i was just
thinking yeah yeah yeah this is how television works jack um this is how hey this is how tv
works so ever heard of it we can't step on the brakes right here we just got to hit the gas
it's also interesting the actress who is the one who is screwing around over who's wearing the
white sort of the white dress yeah the prada yeah right the prada thing it was interesting because
so earlier in the episode we see her pull a you know i'm not like other girls to mckay yeah yeah
and then we find out that what was actually in front of her was about like a workplace training
about like you know women supporting women in the workplace or whatever that's right interesting
yeah yeah really really good writing yeah like that's that's just like a nice like kind of a
cherry on top yeah they are immediately arrested annalise immediately is like i lied to you this
is how you be a lawyer yeah um and they're immediately arrested and they are perp walked
out of the office where marin ridicules them in front of everyone we go back to annalise's house
michaela still will not stop talking about torts asher comes in with an outline or something that
you've gotten from somewhere yeah and you offer it to everyone and everyone's like oh my gosh thank
you so much and you're like suckers right even as hungry as he is to be uh like accepted and
liked by people he can't help himself yeah no i mean it's it's doggy dog in in law school you
know doggy dogs doggy dogs bonnie comes in with the confession tape we are all going to sit down
it watch it bonnie lies to annalise about how she secured the tape which is interesting because if
she doesn't know that annalise she know she must know that annalise and nate are lovers maybe yeah
so it's got to be coming from that axiom i would guess that axis yeah i really like seeing bonnie
be bad like i like to start to see these like frayed edges because i think that like bonnie
presents maybe at the beginning as this like meek quiet sort of character and we quickly realize
that's that is not the characterization of this woman at all yeah that's just my face as she says
that's just my face exactly yeah we then go into court the judge agrees that the video points to
coercion um the judge reduces the bail from a million to a hundred thousand and he also initiates
an inquiry into the interrogation of becca this is a big old win um katie continues to just be so
good in these scenes and then we poppy pop night x it's 6 a.m and connor is showing up at oliver's
apartment and he's not doing well i screwed up oliver connor is having a panic attack this is
i think my big my first big crash out scene over the course of the the show yeah many yeah um
and this is i think i had mentioned earlier but this is the scene where when i did it liza came
up to me afterwards and was like now that they know you can do that that you're gonna you're
gonna do it a lot right um and i was like oh cool yeah um and i vividly remember being in that so
this is this is a set that we built on the studio right all over oliver's apartment and i remember
being in this this little fake hallway oliver's hallway of his apartment building and i remember
just like sitting kind of curled up listening to i was like i was oscillating between rammstein
to get like pumped up like do do haas yeah and then i would watch uh the last it was just this
was an insane emotional prep thing i used to do where i would watch the last scene of six feet
under which i don't know if you've seen it but it has i haven't but one of the best endings in
television where it's just like a long montage of what happens to all the characters and it used to
uh get me crying every single time yeah um so i was just yeah kind of going between those two
Then we go into present day where Oliver is listening to the rest of the Paxton tape and, you know, learns that that Connor and Paxton had sex and Connor tells him the guy was just sex.
You're more than sex, you know, and Oliver obviously kicks him out.
Yeah.
Heartbreaking.
Yeah.
Connor, you know, kind of fucks around and finds out.
Yeah.
And then we this is God.
I love this track.
It's such a banger.
we get uh no one's here to sleep by naughty boy featuring best seal and it is pumping rebecca is
home um rebecca's climbing the stairs in her apartment building and wes is at the top of the
stairs in the doorway leaning he looks so good here he looks handsome very like i was watching
and i was just like god i want elfie to play james bond um you know like speaking of spies
in the episode right yeah yeah he looks he just looks very debonair yeah and wes says i'm not
supposed to be talking to you but you you got to tell me what's on the phone rebecca anyway the
song continues it amplifies and we're with annalise wes has brought her the phone and he explains that
he waited to give it to her so that he could gain rebecca's trust and annalise has this great line
you were right she needs someone to trust and it looks like that's you you okay with that where
you know she's obviously talking about Rebecca but Viola plays it so beautifully where it
it's a mirror and she clearly means herself too yeah and sort of Annalise asking Wes like can I
trust you I need someone to trust as well I don't trust anyone in my life yeah which I just thought
was beautiful um and yeah as the scene's ending Wes comments that those photos could you know
did we use them to help her case and she responds you did your job now let me do mine and boom we
cut to her in the bedroom this is iconic scene alert this is this is a big one get ready get
ready yeah yeah i mean if you've seen the show before this i'm sure is one of the scenes that's
just seared into your memory yeah annalise is like slowly taking off her rings and then she
starts to take off her wig she slowly peels off the eyelashes removes her makeup um she's crying
it's you know in close-up the lighting is beautiful shout out to michael price our rdp
yeah the armor is just sort of like coming off here um she's like almost looking into camera
just just off camera yeah and she's like moisturizing sort of like self-soothing
um and then sam walks in bends over her gives her a kiss from behind it's almost it's almost
like he kind of like wraps around her which i'm sure that felt like all very intentional it was
feels like suffocating to me and asked about you know rebecca and the bail and you know small
work talk and annalise says sam and he says yeah and she holds up the phone and says why is your
penis on a dead girl's phone um and we see the you know his naked torso and and she's sort of like
almost smiling yeah the fact that that both that happens both those things happen in such
close succession i forgot is just like as a viewer extremely powerful extremely powerful yeah and then
to get to see her just like this private side of her that you didn't necessarily know that we were
going to get to see this this like this deeply kind of into her it's just really cool and and
And, you know, and I know it was Viola's idea and Pete talks about that and, you know, it really, it just opens up so much, you know, room in the show for getting to see the difference between the private life and the public life too.
Absolutely.
I mean, it's definitely, if not the most iconic, it's one of the most iconic scenes in this, in the show.
To me, it feels kind of like a turning point.
I mean, you know, we're only, we're only four episodes in, but it feels like to me that this is, this is the scene where like the show kind of announces itself.
yeah where we've seen annalee so far be inaccessible and like put together immaculately
dressed razor sharp you know almost like mythic in a way totally and yeah her taking off the wig
it just it shows like you said that there's like this difference between the persona publicly and
and privately yeah it very much to me expresses how the public performance is just that you know
it's a persona it's a performance and yeah i don't know i think that it sort of recontextualizes
everything retroactively totally where so far we're like we're like dang like annalise is cruel
like she's she's a bad person why is she doing all of these things and yeah treating nate poorly
and the keating five and but yeah it sort of like paints that harshness and the her control issues
and emotional distance as like defensive character architecture that totally clearly going to build
off yeah you know gives you a new sense of empathy yeah empathy for her and and also kind of for me
at least makes me think when i think back to like just seeing her previously that i'm like
oh i i thought that i was getting a picture of like most of who this person was yeah um but when
you see this it just like unlocks like a whole other wing of the house you know yes um and you're
like oh well even for the even for the show too it's like up until this point it feels like oh
this is a murder mystery and now this scene it kind of feels like it's opening up a wing to the
house where it's like it's not just a murder mystery this is also going to be a deep psychological
character study right and i mean obviously we can't say enough things about like how important
this is as like you know one of the first times on network television that we see a black woman
yeah moving her wig without commentary like it's it's it is this non-verbal thing yeah that seems
like private and unapologetic and right yeah it really again like i i haven't seen the show and
so like i had heard so much discussion oh my god yeah like i'd heard so much discussion around this
scene oh my god yeah and i think i had like seen like clips of it on you or on uh twitter yeah sure
but like seeing it in its entirety where it comes in the episode and what it sets up for the next
episode it just hits that much harder yeah but yeah i really really liked it yeah i periodically
forget that you haven't seen it sure sure i'll keep reminding you yes please we keep going yeah
yeah yeah it also just sets up this like central theme of like yeah identity first performance and
yeah i think that that's gonna play out for a bunch of different characters over the course
of the show but yeah it's so good and yeah like you said viola the one that sort of pitched this
idea and he ran with it and rightfully so like it's it's it's just a beautiful scene yeah it's
really powerful i'm excited to see more of it yeah and the the cliffhanger of why is your penis
on a dead girl's phone it's just like a mic drop of tv writing i feel like the cast we would repeat
that to each other in different ways after the table read you know yeah yeah why is your penis
that girl's fun yeah yeah wow what did you okay great episode right incredible yeah like really
good episode yeah i really i love elizabeth perkins in this i think she brings like she
brings a lot of like comedy and just like a lot of dynamic choices to you know it's a pretty dark
episode right there's a suicide there's this this really beautiful and slow wig removal there's
chopping up a body like there's there's some heavy hitting stuff throughout the episode and
i think that elizabeth really brought like a bit of fun totally lack of a better word yeah um to it
and i i like to kind of to your point that like asher is contributing things and like we're
starting to see the characters like be more and more defined i think we're starting to get a
a better picture of of who these are as individuals yeah all i learned about michaela
was that she loves torts and parts but right right also this way we know like nothing about
laurel too which is interesting well i mean we're starting to get individual episodes to agree right
like we kind of had michaela this one's a little bit more connor heavy so like we're starting to
feel back the onion totally but i think even just in the little tidbits of dialogue between
in the in the group scenes we're starting to get a better idea of who these people are and
having them more fully realized as characters which is cool yeah and yeah i think also katie
katie just crushes this episode yeah yeah um there's such a gravity to their performance
yeah they do a really amazing job here this is a yeah great episode great episode wow let us know
what you think in the comments yeah um also something i thought was funny that i was watching
it because i have received this gif many times in my life is the scene where connor goes to
oliver's door at the beginning of the episode and says take off your clothes is a gif and like
friends send it to me as a joke you know and frequently right so it's really like i had this
weird you know moment where i was watching and i was like whoa like this lives on my phone but i
i forgot that it's like part of a larger television show that i made right thank god
that's really funny yeah so i'm excited for more things like that to pop up where i'm like oh yeah
connor just shows the gift to oliver actually yeah yeah it's a meta like inside inside that's
right yeah we would do that we would do that though uh how to get over yeah with the twitter
with our twitter interactions and stuff it feels like yeah that would happen yeah yeah yeah okay
so next week we have episode five we're not friends who do you think said the titular line
i feel like it's got to be mckayla oh it has i don't know why i keep having so much confidence
and being wrong i think strong and wrong we want we want the confidence also i just realized
because we're making this in a bubble please don't comment on our social media posts telling
us wait no we'll be ahead we'll be too far ahead right hell yeah right i mean i guess someone if
they were really committed to ruining our lives could just do it for like everything in the first
season in one post yeah i like i like not knowing yeah um but yeah we're not friends okay you think
michaela i think it is me i think i'm gonna go but i'll go with someone else just for fun
we're not friends annalise just kidding she wouldn't say um i'm gonna say uh bonnie
that's a good guess maybe she's saying it to like the keating five like someone's getting a little
too close yeah that's a good guess but i like michaela yeah i can i can hear asia saying
something like that like in the michaela performance you know like someone expecting
something of her or yeah you know wanting something and her clarifying we're not friends
yeah yeah all right man that's the episode i hope you guys enjoyed it thanks for being here
um this is a lot of fun we're really excited for it to release tomorrow even though
you're listening in the future that's right i hope people are listening yeah i think they are
yeah i think so yeah we have a few cochleas that are waiting that are waiting to be vibrated
yeah exactly yeah all right well we will see you back here next week like and review and subscribe
and comment and share with a friend like us or a lover or an ex yeah make sure we're enjoyed by you
