hey everyone my name is matt mccorry and i played the character asher millstone on how to get away
with murder and i'm jack fallahy and i played connor walsh on that very same tv show and this
is the how we got away with murder podcast buongiorno buongiorno e meri sequentios that's
pretty good i like yeah thanks it's not real but it's good yeah no i know i know but yeah you
understand. Yeah. That's good. How's your, today is Sunday. Today is Sunday. It is. Did you have
a good Valentine's day? It was a, it was a, it was a day. It was a regular day. It was a regular
day. Yeah. Yeah. I went to the gym last night. Cause you know, everyone, I, I assumed I was
leaving rehearsal and I was like, Oh, everyone's like going to dinner or, you know, spending time
with their partner. And so I went to the gym and it was blissful. It was empty. Love that. Yeah.
it was very nice. Nice. I love an empty gym time. Same. Yeah. Peaceful. How's your week been? I
haven't seen you in a week. It's been all right. Yeah, it has been all right. It's been cold in
New York city, as you well know, but has warmed up a little bit, went to a lovely event. So a lot
of rats on the way home. Oh, cool. Yeah. And had a dream last night that a rat was trying to attack
me and it bit me. That's how you get a superpower. I didn't, unfortunately it was, it was just
actually it was my watch pinching my uh pinching my wrist and i had to like trying to like beat
down the rat with my forearm and then it threw like a blanket and it bit me so yeah so i woke
up very relaxed this morning yeah how about you how's your week that's good uh i had a good week
just been in in rehearsal and the olympics are on right now which will be over by the time everyone
is listening to this but i did want to shout out my friends evan bates and madison chalk who
they got a gold and a silver medal wow um in ice dancing so i'm really proud of them evan and i
grew up together that's right we we actually started figure skating together and i immediately
stopped doing it and he obviously didn't and has now been to many olympics right you could have
been an olympic uh winner i i joked to him about that once and he looked at me and he was like
no man yeah no you gotta have something yeah he's got he's got the they got that special
fairy dust yeah yeah do you know i met him i met them both by the way no kidding where i don't know
if you remember this when i was in i was in italy many years ago six seven years ago and i went on a
bus tour and they were on the bus tour what i don't remember this at all yeah yeah wow i love
that aren't they the best yeah they're really sweet yeah they're really sweet they got to meet
elmo yesterday which really i was really jealous about oh nice because elmo's there as well that's
olympic winners get to do exactly so shout out to them very happy for them but that's been mostly
mostly it just watching the the olympics and then going to rehearsal and interacting with how to get
away with murder content people are enjoying people are enjoying we're no longer in the bubble
people are watching people are listening to the podcast that's right which we appreciate
yeah tell your friends yeah you like it i did that's you told your friends you're talking to me
are you talking to the listeners i understand now yeah my mom my mom texted me it was like oh
you're you're good at this like and i was like oh my mom's listening to the podcast which makes
sense yes i just didn't like consider it you know what i mean yeah yeah it makes sense though
because parents who love you like it's just a lot of time to get to it's like pure you content you
know what i mean so my i've been showing my mom how to listen to podcast as well um yeah radical
yeah well okay so if you're listening you should show your mom or someone in your life how to
listen to our podcast that's right shout out to our moms shout out to our moms love you mom um
okay today we are talking about season one episode six freaking whack-a-mole
wowie wowie this episode was written by michael foley love michael foley directed by
Bill D'Elia, the great Bill D'Elia, our producing director, which we'll talk a little bit about,
aired on November 6, 2014. And it was filmed in LA. The first day of filming was September 4,
2014, which happened to be the day that the great comedian Joan Rivers passed away.
And the forecast was a high of 90 degrees in Los Angeles.
Wow.
Los Angeles for Philadelphia winter.
That's right.
um yeah this is a great episode i'm excited to dive in why don't you do what you do best and
read us that log line you know i will i mean i don't know if it's what i do but i do other things
that are really good too but i'm just kidding um okay i just think you're good at it thanks you
said it's what i do best you said everything else i do is worse than what i read it was reading the
log line okay you do a lot of really good things thanks thank you annalise manages to orchestrate
an appeal for a man on death row convicted of murdering his girlfriend years earlier
and sentenced by asher's father judge william millstone meanwhile frank tries to locate rebecca
my voice is extra deep today it feels like the svu like you know like previously these people
yeah exactly exactly you know one of one of the first big jobs i almost booked i was still in
college i think i was 20 was to be the voice of mtv oh really yeah like last week on road rules
whatever you know and which sounds so silly as as a job but i remember my my manager at the time
being like dude you really want to book this right and i was like why right this is consistent
voiceover work for every week of your life right for as long as you have the contract yeah which
is not small potatoes especially because it was airing you know on television yeah and it came
down to me and you know the guy that got it but i was like really hammered like previously
i had that kind of annoying mtv voice yeah yeah for sure
i love that tune into the i don't even know that shows on tv we're still available i'm still
available mtv is mtv still on um okay we're gonna jump right in but we are getting closer to the
premiere of the show so we're filming first day is the fourth and we probably film until about the
13th as a reminder for everyone how do you murder premiered on september 25th so we are still at
this time in a bubble we do not know if the tv show we're making is good if it will be well
received we have a pretty good idea that it's good that there's some meat and potatoes yeah but we
have not gotten reviewed we are in the buble we are in the buble the michael buble yeah i got my
heart broken to michael googling high school oh sorry to bring that up hey amanda if you're
listening this one goes out to you amanda this one this one goes on to amanda asher's father
is a racist piece of shit uh okay recap the recap is it's a lot annalise is repping rebecca
sutter sam why is your penis on a dead girl's phone again uh we see the rebecca interview with
with sam mr darcy laurel saying she has a boyfriend and then smooch and frank annalise
confronting bonnie about getting the confession tape and implying that she knows about her
feelings for sam wes looking into rebecca's empty apartment at the end of last episode
and the phone call from rebecca look at the wallpaper you can't you can't trust her wes
and then ending with wes elfie incredible delivery of your husband is mr darcy and i
love how that mr darcy moves in elfie's mouth yeah um mr darcy yeah mr darcy yeah it's beautiful
there is so much more to recap yeah at the beginning of every episode as as we progress
in the season i'm realizing i have to say this just because it came to my mind but when you
began this recap you said samwise penis sam why is and that's what i heard it's sam why is your
penis but i heard samwise's penis yeah yeah yeah i was transported to lord of the rings
yeah sure yeah amazing yeah okay let's go and on a great adventure from the shire into asher's dorm
here we are where asher is dancing and flexing and you're just moving around the apartment
pre-gaming that's right pre-gaming that's true pre-gaming a relic of our past yes indeed yeah
i've i've not pre-gamed for anything in my life in 15 years right pre-gaming is meditation now
yes exactly yeah exactly yeah so yeah this was in dash dashers jesus um this was an asher's
apartment and i remember i think in the script it was just something like asher dances and gets
ready for the bonfire and in my mind i was like this is my time get ready and i remember writing
on the back of uh like the script handwriting you know the choreography moves like you know
make it rain you know dollar bills and humping couch yeah actually maybe that was more improvised
in the moment um i think i still have that and then i asked our prop guy i believe was don at
the time for a stack of bills and i was like i said to our director bill i was like bill i was
like i think i know what i want to do here and he was like okay go for it and yeah it's just
really a great moment so you have to put my creative silliness into asher i feel like
Dancing has become a part of like a lot of my roles also too, which is kind of funny.
Yeah, that is true.
You do dance quite a bit.
Yeah.
It was an orange is a new black and.
Yeah.
I mean, people should see you're great at dancing, you know?
I appreciate that.
Yeah.
On my, my lip sync battle.
This was a.
Yeah.
Your lip sync battle.
This is my audition.
This is my audition for lip sync battle.
Wow.
Yeah.
Yeah.
They asked me to do that after you and I was like, I'm not going to go on after Matt.
That's ridiculous.
No, come on.
Oh, that would have been amazing.
no you were so good i would have gone on and they would have been like not as good as the other guy
from the show well i went on the same i think i said that no i remember this on instagram i i did
mine the same day that tom holland did his which is really interesting yeah i got to meet him
seemed like a very sweet guy yeah i think i i don't know if the spider-man movies come out at
that point or i'd or i'd never seen him at least but you know we weren't in the same room but they
shoot like you know two different it was me and bell me young and then him and zendaya and they
wow they shoot both at the same time anyway that's amazing also also a great dancer i'd love to see
you guys do a dance off that would be interesting we'll be right back now back to class anyway this
is really good this is just good work from you like i loved watching this i also love like this
is a perfect example of a scene that like having never seen the show i would never i would never
be on set while you were filming this that's true yeah you know what i mean like i would read this
during the the table read and be like oh that's gonna be funny and then like never think about
it again. Oh, this is your first time seeing it? First time seeing it. And like, it also made me
think like, have I even ever been in Asher's room? Right. Like I have no, I have no memory of being
in that room ever. So I'll be curious to see if we end up there. The funny thing is actually you
probably were in that room. That room was filmed at the house that we used for Annalisa's exterior
out by USC, University of Southern California.
Wait, that's not on the lot.
That's a location?
That's a location.
Yeah.
So for everyone in the audience,
you know, we had the exterior of Annalise's house
and that we would sometimes shoot like on the porch of.
I can't remember if we shot other stuff inside,
but one of the rooms in there,
we made into Asher's apartment.
Wow.
So if I have, at the very least,
I have been in that room as a holding room.
Yeah, as a holding room.
Yeah, I think we're right where the cast sits,
basically, and waits.
That's so funny.
Isn't it funny?
no memory of it yeah okay well we go from there to the speaking of annalise's exterior you asher
is looking for the trophy michaela took it maybe you're walking around the exterior this ties into
what we previously shot the interior of the house where you know connor's spiraling out and laurel
tells him to get on the ground and he like lays next to the dead sam um i mean this is in the last
episode i think it was the last episode we we heard you on the exterior of the house right this
is a great example of like the production and writers building out these scenes where we see
maybe one perspective and then in future episodes we see more of night x through either another
perspective or like an expanded you know segment of a scene right so we're seeing you and your
your perspective of the night a bit totally and it makes sense why they put the house there at
least i guess because we had to shoot that other stuff outside the house so again for time time is
money they're like oh let's put the apartment here yeah that's right yeah um so then we go
into the house and we expand that scene that we shot in the previous episode so again just a
hammered on the head this would have been completely new material we didn't shoot this
this is this is just a continuation of the scene that we already shot and so we get like a little
bit more we have we have laurel mckayla and connor and they're all kind of piling on in this idea
that maybe we should let asher in and implicate him in the murder of sam right and uh and maybe
his dad can help us get out of it right you know setting up the the rest of the episode and the
introduction of asher's father and wes as being the ethical one in the room saying nah he didn't
he's not a part of this right and that takes us boom five weeks earlier chiron um which i think
i learned what a chiron was working on the show because there's so many chirons a chiron is what
the thing that says the yeah like the text over the screen right right okay yeah chiron yeah a
chiron it sounds like a greek mythical beast probably is that's probably where they got it
that's exactly it let's not look at a dog yeah yeah remember when you couldn't look things up
and you're just like yeah chiron is probably a mythical beast totally that's cool yeah okay so
we at this point we've now established like you know we're in episode six that these episodes
you know there's one or two scenes on night x before the chiron to you know blank weeks earlier
so the show is catching up the time is catching up to be all present day eventually right and
so last week was six weeks earlier now it's five weeks earlier we are in the classroom we're
learning about habeas corpus uh ak looks to wes's seat it's empty with the trophy sitting there
which is a very a diesel thing for wes to do um we quickly cut back to a mini flashback so not a
flash forward a flashback where annalise is in the scene with wes where he says your husband's mr
darcy and he he has this great like look at yourself you're disgusting you disgust me and
annalise is panicking crying telling west to come back as he like leaves the house it's this is like
just great acting from both of them yeah viola's scream of the don't you leave this house gave me
goosebumps like yeah truly seeing like stakes high stakes um so there are a lot of stakes in this
this episode totally and a lot of like turns and surprises yeah yeah and also the food stakes comes
up later so let's let's choose that okay i forgot about that hang on to your seat we're going to
talk about stakes later okay um and stakes as in the plot stakes all right so we go back to class
uh michaela defines habeas corpus um i still don't know what it is bonnie then runs in and
class is dismissed right like immediately yeah and annalise asks for the keating five to stick
around right which i think is maybe is that the only time that we get the nickname because i know
in this script often we're sort of kidding five or production referred to us as kidding five but
this is definitely the first time i think on screen that we're referred to as kidding five
yeah i think that's right i think okay and definitely by annalise right i don't know
chime in the comments people know better than us for sure that's true but i wonder if it comes up
more because you're right like it was such a it was such a nickname on set right just for
production purposes but like is it actually in the show yeah it was in the script all the time
like in the stage direction something that keating five follows in tow yeah just to save like time
yeah right exactly i also i remember during this too and basically at this point like in the first
five episodes i feel like i was mostly just like one-liner guy and i remember you know getting the
script and being like oh this is asher's episode like in terms of like the character that's focused
on so i remember being very excited and even in even just like there's a little more back and
forth between like laurel and i you know in this scene yeah um and i just remember being excited
that i was like i was like okay i'm gonna take it's my time to take some space yeah um yeah yeah
you get to shine and spread your wings in this episode for sure yeah anyway we we're hanging
back we don't seem to care that wes isn't there but we're all curious about the trophy um i have
another zit, which is great. Annalise sets up the case. The case is a good one. Annalise says that
when she was a law student, there was a man, David Allen, put on trial for murdering his
girlfriend, Tricia. The prosecution argued David shot and killed his girlfriend because he thought
she'd fallen in love with his boss, even though there was no real evidence. And David was convicted
of murder. And Annalise gives this very passionate explanation of how this was the first time that
her eyes open to you know the sad reality of the justice system and how it doesn't it doesn't
reward the innocent or those who tell the truth but those who have the power to create their own
which i think is a really good line i mean it's very it's very like it has a nice little bow on
it and we're obviously going to explore that theme throughout the rest of the episode um anyway
annalise is getting her first appeal on the case and we have 72 hours to determine david's fate
And the stakes are high.
The stakes are high.
And then we cut to the prison where we're in a visitation booth and Annalise is meeting
David Allen, played beautifully by Peter McCone, who is talking about stakes.
The stakes are high and he's talking about stakes.
He's talking about his last meal might be before, I think, lethal injection.
And Annalise tells him he hasn't gotten the news yet.
So Annalise tells him that the court is giving them one more shot for an
appeal. And yeah,
it's just a really beautiful scene where he's like receiving this news that he
might have another shot at freedom and like immediately goes to thank Annalise
and she tells him not to thank him yet. And like, you know,
until he gets out of prison and it's, it's a really intense, uh, moment.
Yeah. He does a beautiful, really beautiful job.
Yeah. He's, he's a great actor too. I mean, well, we, you see in this episode,
um, I was really happy. I, a couple of years ago I saw, uh,
kingdom of the planet of the apes it was like one of the first movies i saw in theater after
but it was i i haven't been seeing many movies in theaters and i went because i just love planet
the apes yeah and i recognized his voice he plays uh he voices raka you recognized it i did i
couldn't place it but i was like i know that voice and afterwards i looked it up yeah those movies
are great i don't know if i've seen all of them but like yeah i think i've watched one i tend to
watch my planes and just cry a lot um i love crying to a plane on a movie on a plane yeah
yeah wow also still wild to me by the way at this point in time me i had like zero understanding of
systemic racism and the criminal justice system and at that point even after doing orange is new
black which is just like an indicator of how privilege can be so effective at like preventing
us from seeing outside of our own experiences and circumstances and uh for those who don't know
you know, activism is a, I don't know if I've said this before, big part of my life, including
prison abolition and anti-racism. And, um, so it, seeing it from, with that understanding,
with that point of view now also has a very different sort of impact, you know, than it did
for me at the time, which I still was like, oh, there's racism. But I think at the time I thought
of it more as like an aberration rather than like the way that the whole system is designed, you
know? Yeah, totally. I wonder too, if that, not that you wouldn't have been capable of acting,
you know but like that that is a more similar maybe experience to what asher for sure through
throughout this episode but to further expand on that i feel like this is sort of the first episode
where this is like a real case yeah like that you know what i mean like it's like we've had
like terrorism and murder and this is this is like a very real sort of like grounded and i think
that's what the show was able to do so effectively over many seasons is like obviously there's like
sort of like the sensational like you know fun court scenes and court cases but then the show
was able to highlight many of the overlapping sort of systems too yeah yeah which we'll get
into yeah as we see it yeah shortcomings is like not even an adequate but yeah i mean this is like
the first time we sort of like scratched the surface of the prison system and justice system
of the United States of America. Yeah. Um, which I was pretty blind to at the time as well. Yeah.
Um, okay. So we go from there from prison to Annalise's house and we are in files. We're
reading through the court transcript from the original case. We realized that Asher's dad
is the judge on the case. And Connor, I think very astutely says, I guess we finally know why
you're here implying that that is why annalise selected him right uh for the no five no it's
for my smarts and then laurel saying asher's dad's name and then my reaction actually made me laugh
it's it's fun that to have a enough distance between shooting it and watching it that like
i can forget like how i did something you know i'm surprised by it you know yeah yeah yeah so
that's a good test you make yourself laugh later 10 years later that's awesome yeah and now a word
from our sponsors and we are back okay we go from there into Annalise and Sam arguing he's sort of
crashing out about Wes coming to the house about the wallpaper he thinks he should blow her up and
get ahead of it Annalise leaves and Sam thanks Bonnie for putting up with all their crap and
bonnie says she'd do anything for annalise so bonnie has told annalise that frank i think says
it's it's a now's a good time or something sort of vague which then makes us go you know with
annalise to wes's apartment this is this is a very steamy network tv moment where wes wes opens the
door and elfie is shirtless out of the shower and they have like a very slow tilt up from his abs
that just it made me literally laugh out loud yeah me too you know there's like it's completely
unnecessary but it's like yeah why not have them just be out of the shower sure i also by the way
have a very tactile sensation if i'm remembering correctly what they use for sweat is like this
like glycerin like sort of like it's like a sugar thing they spray on you and it's like sticky which
just like just disgusts me so for some reason i'm seeing him and i'm just picturing that sensation
of like oh that's so much of that shit like all over your body that must be hell but not everyone
has the same sensory issues so yeah yeah but i never needed it because i was always right right
yeah yeah i never experienced it yeah yeah he probably did need a spray down right yeah not
to be confused with the baby oil that some people put on for sure that's right that's a different
thing that people do that's right that's right we can talk about that even more and more as we
explore more of these intimate scenes yes but this one really just stuck out to me because i
was like wow completely unnecessary but people probably loved it yeah all right so she's at his
door and this this obviously implies that annalise has had frank following wes or at least staking
out his apartment and trying to you know get to him anyway she goes into the apartment she touches
the scratches in the wall and ask the question that you and i have been asking for five episodes
of this podcast you and rebecca you know implying that it maybe it is a bbs dungeon right uh oh my
god that yeah the whole thing and the fact that annalise thinks it's from you know sex right the
fact that she asks it and yeah exactly and then she sits on the bed and she sits in the bed she's
like you know what what do you want like that weird open-ended sort of like i i yelped like
i kind of like jumped on the couch a little bit and i was like yeah i was like wow teacher teacher
student relationship is completely inappropriate yeah like sure is it a bds apartment we'll tune
it next week we still don't know that's right um okay so yeah yeah it's just scratching exactly
Annalise wants Wes back
he has demands
he has like an envelope
where he says
he's written everything down
and there's like another copy
in a safe deposit box
I have no idea
what that is
I guess it's like
just his like
written testimony
of like
everything that's happened
right
I'm assuming
right
also I don't know why
but like watching this
you know
I was like wow
Elfie's American accent
is very good
yeah it is
like
he did a lot
he did a lot of work on it too
he did a lot of work on it
he would spend like hours every day and man,
I'm blanking on his dialect.
Just the drink.
I think there it is.
Yeah,
there it is.
Um,
shout out to her incredible work on this,
but it's so hard to do dialect work,
especially when you,
you're doing like these emotional scenes and he has so many,
so early into the season of doing this.
And he did for people that don't know.
And I'm sure we talked about this quite a bit in the Elfie episode,
but he stayed in an American accent for the entire time that he was in
America.
that's right he just has really good uh accent work here and on the show and i'm proud of him
yeah okay so wes has the demands he says that if she he if annalise doesn't help rebecca
he's gonna call the police blah blah blah we then go to annalise's kitchen really good to
highlight i think we've seen a lot of kitchen scenes yeah you know like this is because if
you build a set you better use it right so we're we're using it a kitchen makes a lot of sense
especially in a, a home office situation like Annalisa's firm. Um, so it's a really good sort
of like, you know, water cooler type scenes, which we're seeing right now where Frank and Laurel
have a little run in while they're making coffee. They flirt a bit about who kissed who,
who smooched who, and then Bonnie interrupts and Laurel skedaddles and Frank's about to walk out
and Liza has a great delivery of Frank, you forgot your coffee.
That's so good.
Yeah, it's so good.
it's and it just again just such good moments of you know like not everything has to be in the in
like the dialogue and just it does so much work just the fact that you find out that oh yeah of
course he never was going to go in there for coffee in the first place you know he was going
to talk to laurel and it's so smart it's a great way it's just like yeah great motivation and yeah
everything we're then moving into the living room where annalise walks in with west tells us to get
him up to speed. Annalise then goes into her office with Frank, where she tells Frank to
find Rebecca, but don't make contact with her. And then Annalise comes out and tells us we aren't
allowed to sleep until we figure out how to win this case. And there's 64 hours left. And Fotech
is in the house with the boom, boom, boom, boom. And we start a montage. Before we get into the
montage, though, I feel like just showing like we're really starting to show the house as like,
you know the base for all of these different plots for each episode yeah you know and then we like
launch from the base and and go out and solve things um but i think it's cool that we're
starting to see like the different you know the office the living room the kitchen you see bedroom
scenes and we're starting to see different people in different parts of those spaces which is cool
it feels like it feels lived in like it feels like a house i think which is really cool to see
okay so we go into this montage where she is dispatching us into the world to save the day
laurel and west go to visit his original attorney to see if he screwed up somehow or missed something
um he seems like sort of disheveled and tired and tells them to sell out and go into corporate law
this is an exterior like outdoor garage so it would have been a location i think but i don't
know where this would have been it might have been like close to the studio lot yeah um but i
have no memory because i was not there yeah um connor and michaela go to the original prosecutor
ada travers who left mid-trial which seems suspicious yeah but he sort of like tries to
sweep that under the rug and make no big deal out of it this is obviously an office set so i'm
assuming it was built for this scene or this episode they were always like an office or you
know there was there were a couple rooms that could be converted into different you know right
different spaces pretty easily yeah i guess a little shuffling around yeah a little shuffling
around so maybe this is one of those okay and then bonnie and millstone team bosher
team bosher they go to interview a witness another non-receptive uh high five um yes
yeah yeah and this is in a parking garage which means that would have like certainly been on the
lot like it would have been yes one of the actual parking garages that we used yes i look back um i
believe in and micah my stand-in sent me some photos i think that he took from that i believe
oh cool yeah that's awesome yeah um and then we're we're sort of popping back between all
of these little parties so laurel and wes the og lawyer says he had an alibi but he was high
and heroin. So we know that there's maybe an alibi in play. Connor and Michaela are about to leave,
but Michaela confronts him about some legal work he did right after leaving the case,
which leads him to admit off the record that he was tipped off to there being perjured
testimony during the case. So we're now all back together in Annalise's house where
Michaela is explaining what we just found out, which is also another, this is like a motif in
how to do with murder where like someone's finding something out in the real world and then as they're
explaining it it's like voiceover that lands us into you know a group scene where they're like
presenting what they found to the class yeah you know pun intended right so she's doing that she
then tells us tells everyone in in annalise's living room that ada travers told judge millstone
who did nothing about it right which is sort of the bombshell of the scene where asher obviously
doesn't does not love this and uh tries to defend his father and says you know he literally wrote
the book on judicial conduct right he can't be racist it's called a criminal justice system
exactly um yeah that's what he thinks yeah and i think this is where annalee says you'd be the
first person in the world disappointed by his father um which i just thought was so great and
laurel asks a question which after watching the episode at the end made me think oh it's just like
a sort of a foreshadow she asks oh where do you summer again where does your dad summer again or
something that and i realized like the phrasing like summer as like a verb is like a wealthy
person thing right which we do find out later that in this episode that laurel is rich yeah
but yeah it was interesting because i did think of that but i think when i first saw it i thought
she was like trying to use the vernacular that that she thought probably that my family asher's
family was using you know but she also and she also knows about kennebunkport which i'd never
heard of but i think it's just a rich person place i thought it was fictitious no it's real
it does sound like it does sound like kind of like a yeah it's like munchkin land right right
kenny bunky hoopoos um kenny bunkport that's right where is it it's in maine what it's in
maine i think i believe so yeah is it like where the kennedys went it might be i started writing
i just started writing kennedy buckport into my uh my browser and obviously kennedy's it brought
up kennedy and i was like oh my god they're listening that's really wild i also remember
that you remember like entertainment weekly i don't know if they still do it they would do this
thing where they'd have lines from characters it was like a like it was like pictures of a bunch
of different characters from a show and it would have like a line i remember that this line made
it in there it's not just white people who summer in kennedy buckport i have a picture that maybe
i'll post that this uh when this episode is coming out um but i remember being very excited
with that because i i really enjoyed entertainment weekly yeah yeah yeah that's cool yeah that's so
funny okay so yeah she that is that is good character and world building though that like
laurel like you you doing that detective work i think shows you like how nuanced the writers were
being in the room totally you know that they're like oh if laurel is wealthy then like she should
use the vernacular of people that summer in these you know in those places yeah yeah i think that
this is like just a really good performance by you too where like the speed at which you have
to like absorb this information about your father and then switch to like defending him but like you
there is like a little bit of an undercurrent of like you maybe not having all of the information
and so you're like you're not on like totally solid ground in your defense like it feels very
real like it feels very human which is silly to say but i think like that is the goal acting right
It is to have it be as natural as possible.
And this felt like incredibly natural.
Thank you.
Um,
yeah,
you're welcome.
Yeah.
So Annalise ends this scene with a banger of,
well,
I guess we're,
we're introduced.
We have a new suspect,
which is judge Millstone.
Yeah.
Um,
and then we cut to night X and I am pulling out of a driveway.
I remember being a little nervous in this scene because like,
originally they have like a lot of background actors,
like,
because they wanted night X to look crazy.
And I remember, I remember saying to Bill, uh, the director and, you know, Bill D'Elia was the producing director for the first couple of seasons of the show. So he was like the big boss director, you know, in charge of all of the directors. And he was a omnipresent person on set and around and we loved him and he's the best.
And so I think I like voiced that anxiety to him and he like shuffled things around so that, you know, it was safe for everyone. And it wasn't unsafe. I just felt anxious. I also hate driving. And I was like, I don't know if I want to be like whipping.
You do? I did not.
I do hate driving.
Interesting. Okay.
Yeah, yeah. I'm not a big fan. I like driving in like upstate Michigan.
I know.
Like I hated driving in LA.
Really? I love driving. I missed it.
yeah it's funny because you like grew up in the city and you love driving and i grew up not the
city and i hate driving yeah no i'm so happy to be in new york and not driving wow also i think
that like i'm gonna like driving more now like i think going home and driving is gonna feel really
good sure that makes sense i really i just say i enjoyed and laughed at your part of referencing
sam's dead body uh maybe sam knows where to go any ideas pal um sure and michaela's look to you
really cracked me up a little bit like what the fuck is wrong with this guy totally yeah
connor's falling apart yeah he's really falling apart anyway we pull out and then we almost hit
asher with the car which is wild because i don't really even remember this like i part of me was
like did we film this together i have no memory of this yeah my instinct is they never would have
had me drive toward you totally it would have been a stunt driver for sure right if the car
is even near you i yeah i mean i'm trying to remember if there was any like because i was
like maybe did we shoot this on separate nights and they stitch it together but when i went back
and like slow motioned like uh one of the shots that was like past me into the car and it looks
like you in the car unless they digitally like added you or something like that at the wheel
but yeah i really don't remember how much i don't know if we shot this together or not
yeah i really don't know it would have i mean if anything they would have put us into like
the parked car as you're in front of it like passing in front of it right but i don't i don't
really have a memory of it either and yeah i am curious like do you have a memory of being
like outside with all of the background artists i do i feel like i have a memory of being like
because i have there alone like not without without the rest of you like at like chair
at the like holding chairs i could be wrong i could be totally wrong that's interesting because
i i i mean unsurprisingly i don't remember you being there but i do remember this like location
like i remember this street i remember the night um but yeah i mean i don't think we would have
shot at different nights but i i could see maybe they released us and like had you walk in front
of like a car with a stunt driver in it or something you know what i mean um but there's
one shot of me in the foreground with you guys in the background no i understand like that that
could be a digital who knows like them clipping two things together editing magic yeah but just
to clarify what we're what we're stressing is like they would never put a production would never put
an actor in a moving vehicle approaching another actor yeah it's just too much of a liability thing
so it is you know possible that we like actually did not film this scene together yeah anyway this
was a very late night we almost hit you we get the line of the episode this is freaking whack-a-mole
which is connor's line not fair it's my episode i need a line you should have a title line you
literally should have gotten it i can't believe i don't remember saying that but clearly our memory
is a little fuzzy on this night yeah um that takes us to poppy pop pop back to present day
and we are in the millstone mansion uh asher's looking for a book i don't i wasn't there what's
going on matt yeah i also didn't remember as i was watching it until i until i find out what
happens which i think we only find out later in the episode which is that he's looking through
his father's logs of like the cases that he's presided over the trials he's presided over
dude if we had if we had as detailed logs of us filming how to deal with murder as asher as daddy
millstone daddy douche face as we get his name later this podcast would be even better it's true
you know what i mean sure yeah if we listen to your father when he told you to keep a
a journal or uh you know keep notes about this yeah this is connor just to clarify this is
connor's third title line so yeah i mean which makes sense though too we're not picking favorites
but yeah yeah pete was excited for the character right this was like an important character to him
which makes sense and you know but mostly just because it was you you're not saying you're the
best guy on the show good yeah thank you yeah oh you're saying because the character not me
no no no no it's not okay so you're looking this was originally my line but they rewrote it
do i give it give it to jack yeah um okay so you're looking for a book in your you're like
this is clearly a location we're like in an actual mansion somewhere yeah okay yeah i don't remember
where but we are in a mansion somewhere yeah totally yeah okay so asher's looking for a book
we know that we then go to the prison back to the visitation area and annalise is asking about
the alibi who's jason wantkins yeah then we go back to the office where you know michaela i this
actually feels like weird writing for michaela like i understand it from a show perspective but
like i think it's michaela yeah michaela's like feeling some sort of way about looking into your
father as a suspect right you know which tees up connor to say you know what's wrong about looking
into the daddy douche face although i guess knowing a little bit sorry knowing a little bit
about like michaela like what her character is revealed with her character later about how
private she is with her family stuff right maybe that's kind of where it comes in even
is that possible none of that exists yet no none of the it exists to us but if the writers were
already thinking of that maybe if there if that was already sort of like a background a backstory
thing for her it might make sense right because yeah or maybe i'm just creating the no no no i
i in in i like this argument i don't remember any of michaela's family stuff so i can't speak to
that i don't remember a lot about it but i remember there's like a whole secret history
sort of thing that's like yeah it is it is interesting to me because like we've set them
up as like cutthroat classmates and this is kind of the first time where like there's a little bit
of like sympathy totally sewn and yeah i like that but it was yeah i i felt like it was intriguing
which i guess is you know good writing yeah um totally and she sort of throws it back at connor
like how would you feel if we were looking into your father and connor right you know makes this
comment about like maybe not knowing his father totally um and then joke and then jokes about
mckayla having a gay fiance which is a bad bad connor bad a lot of but a lot of like yeah a lot
of like backstory seeds like planted and some that we don't even know like the mckayla one that we
don't even know at that point yeah exactly and classic how to get with murder where it's like
we're sprinkling in all these seeds in just a couple lines like quick exchanges where you're
like wait what are they talking about and then the writers will obviously explore later and you
know sort of open up pandora's box which is cool yeah um annalise comes back bonnie tells annalise
that jason watkins the alibi unfortunately od'd 15 months earlier annalise is like she goes into
her office and she she cries and you know she's like going through the files and like just
overwhelmed and has this line come on girl you can see how much like this case means to her and
the fact that she like can't seem to like work the annalise magic to figure it out yet is crushing
her um and i think it also shows like the difference in like clientele for annalise like
this this case means much more to her than like you know a wealthy person trying to get out of
like very real murder charges that we've seen totally and i feel like already i feel like she
says this at some point earlier on but basically like the wealthy clients pay the bills maybe so
that she can do other things that she you know wants to do because of her values yeah yes totally
yeah um she then gives frank an envelope we don't know what the envelope is but we figure it out
later and then we're with you we're with asher we're with asher and daddy douche face and we
are watching football and he tells his dad that they're they're working on this david allen case
and the dad remembers it but doesn't you know really show any cards and then asher confronts
his dad further and says you know the book that he was looking for was this like you know log
as you mentioned yeah and that it was missing the day where he met with the ada
yeah and was told about the the perjury yeah and yeah yeah i remember this was exciting for me
because this was like you know like a big scene this is a big scene and you crush it yeah oh thank
you yeah but this was a big scene especially you know again i've been doing so many like just you
know inappropriate one-liners um for the first you know five episodes and i was anxiously awaiting
you know the chance to kind of you know take a bigger swing who's this actor i don't i don't
yeah his name is john posey great actor um father of tyler posey of teen wolf fame no way yeah
how funny i love the work yeah he does great work here and you know i i'm proud of my work
from young matt yeah i remember it was hard in the scene because there's a lot of exposition
which is like filling in the details of the case like you're kind of like reminding people of the
story and stuff pairing that with the emotional can be hard to make sure that you're kind of
finding the emotional elements of it and not allowing this sort of the intellectual you know
walking through of like the plot points to like override that um i also found it i don't know i
found it hard because i was kind of like locked in the chair like looking over my shoulder for
some reason that felt also a little harder than like a straight on sort of thing which is kind
of interesting yeah it's like acting in a car i feel like is hard right yeah totally it's like
very similar where you're it's like this weird and like the way you set up those shots with like
french overs and everything depending on how they're doing it but like yeah i i can i see
what you mean like it feels it's like another little hurdle yeah exactly especially when you're
yeah when you're wanting to have the emotion come through and just you know you're kind of trying to
thread a specific needle and then we can really start to see asher's like worldview begin to fall
apart here like the loss of innocence you know or quote-unquote innocence you know which is really
like the illusion of whiteness you know yeah um and his dad being a representation of like what
he thought was fair his own ideas of meritocracy that the criminal justice system like is inherently
fair um we start to see that be stripped away um with his father which you know makes room for just
who asher ends up sort of evolving into later yeah yeah i love your work in the scene i think
it's really good very grounded something that did bump me a little bit at the end of the scene is
your dad father millstone calls him calls after a ungrateful little twit yeah and i couldn't i
watching it i was like i was like is that what like a boomer father of a certain age would say
or is this or is this like you know the restraint of of writing a network television show where you
can't use profanity exactly i have a feeling that the original line if they would have written it
the way they wanted to was ungrateful little shit and then they're like we can't say that
so twit rhymes with it
and it was the first
maybe it like came to mind
you know
yeah it is funny
like the words you can say
and like
like you can say bitch
right
in certain circumstances
I guess
we should look into that
and figure that out
because that always like
fascinated me
and I was like
why
like yeah
I don't know
but yeah
this bumped me a little bit
where I was like
oh ungrateful little twit
okay
yeah
all right
so we go from there
to Annalise's office
where Asher has two demands
where got a spare daddy millstone and yeah and asher wants the trophy and annalee says you got
a deal i love bonnie's look here of like wow this guy fucking kidding me like and annalee's being
like this guy just totally low-balled himself sure this guy's very easily manipulated manipulatable
yeah you could have like gotten like a car or the house like anything you wanted yeah sure um
All right. So see, the next scene is we're in the living room and we're setting up that Art Trucco was the one that put in a good word for your father to get his federal judgeship appointment.
And he also happened to be the real estate developer. And he was at odds with our client's girlfriend who he is accused of killing up because she was like a community organizer protesting the development of this like low income housing.
right which like this is all real shit that happens totally as you know and and it's kind
of crazy to think like i'm like oh like this is a network television show 11 12 years ago that
is actually getting into the way that money works in america and you know it's it's obviously like
a bit sensationalized but like not not greatly yeah and yeah it was just like it really i've
been trying in new york i've been trying to go to more like community organizing events and
yeah it just i'm really grateful that i think we were on this show that started to open our eyes
up to some of these bigger questions and conversations yeah for sure and i remember
just so i know that like the new jim crow by michelle alexander was like the book for me
that i think really blew it all wide open where i was like oh yeah you recommended it to me after
you read it yeah i bought that book for a lot of people i was like that's everyone needs to know
this i remember you used to in your apartment you used to have copies of it yeah i used to have a
bunch of yeah a bunch of those but yeah i remember it was the first time where i was able to just see
it all connected you know they were not just like individual instances of like again like you know
bad outcomes aberrations and but there was like the way the system was like designed to work you
know totally um and then of course there's like people like in this particular case who's going
particularly out of their way to do awful terrible things but still using the legal system you know
to their advantage yeah yeah i also remember here seeing asher and when they're when the team is
doing work and stuff and being like oh thirty thousand dollars a year how can we pay teachers
so little um yeah which was also interesting like another kind of like seed of him you know he does
develop later like an interest in i think justice you know like he seems to have a good heart and
has been just very socialized in a specific way and i think we'd start to see again some of that
fall away where he's like oh thirty thousand dollars he's like you know i spend that you
know in like two nights in the club or something you know and uh yeah yeah this is you know where
the episode really picks up we're like back into punchy fast vote tech music um great song choice
evil voices by the faint uh is pumping oh side note i like looking up these songs and not even
even just me being on youtube and whenever you like see in the comments being like who's here
from how to get away with murder you know or like who's here from nice you know fill in the blank
with whatever movie or show yeah i love that yeah it's really cool to see that um that especially
like that you know a music supervisor like faux tech could like find these cool indie bands and
like put them into a giant television show you know yeah but i love that song choice here we're
in sort of a montage thing we're staying up all night because we only have 12 hours everyone's
asleep except Laurel. Laurel asks Frank, if he's looking for Rebecca, Bonnie pulls Laurel aside
and has this great moment of being like, don't, don't string Frank along. Like you're a rich girl.
And like, we all know that you don't end up with a guy like Frank, which, you know, builds into the
thesis earlier about her, the summer millstone line. Um, and just good, uh, writing for the
episode for Laurel. We go to the visitation where, yeah, we hear more about this gentrification
effort and then we're in this fun scene where we're all sort of like fighting we're back in
the house and we're all fighting and prodding each other um i'm like sipping a cup of like tea or
coffee or something and trying to get trying to get west to spill the beans on rebecca and he you
know i connor says it must be hot sleeping with a murderer and i just like west is sleeping on a
book yeah which feels it really does feel like a bill dalia directing choice because bill is such
a funny person that he's just like yeah maybe like he's so tired he fell asleep on a book right
now right yeah like it's like a little bit of comedy and like uh you know but it feels like
bill was always kind of like trying to find those moments yeah for sure and then all four of us pile
into onto asher about his dad which makes asher run at connor i think to fight him i guess yeah
and asher falls you have like a great pratfall um which leads you to finding a piece of paper
which connects the dots that you saw this development right uh real estate development
thing in the logo yeah in the apartment building of the eyewitness thing yeah yeah my eye hurts so
much that i can't even think of the word eyewitness oh no yeah everybody's blocked out things related
to the eye yeah yeah i want to hear about this fall did you just do the fall yeah so no i think
it says that i fall and then because i knew that you know they needed like a to put in like a little
mat and stuff for me to like fall on and stuff yeah but yeah i think we did it a little maybe
a couple more times i was like i need to i think we need to not keep doing this my body is gonna
not totally appreciate this yeah yeah i would never even do that but like you had the physical
sort of comedy clowning ability to do those falls yeah yeah like you sell the shit out of it yeah
thank you i don't know i don't know that i had enough of the technical i mean i think we probably
if i'm remembering correctly we must have had like a stunt person in there to advise on like
how to fall but yeah i remember the body was a little bit by the end of it like interesting the
body was keeping the score yeah something fun about this scene too is that connor has this
line after asher falls that's the best thing i've seen all day and i remember this is this is at the
height of like millennial gifts yeah however you want to say it and this this was like one of the
first moments for me from the show where this got turned into a gif nice and you know like i still
get sent that every now and then from like friends and people. Um, I definitely used to send gifs of
myself as Asher to people. Um, Oh, same. Yeah. Yeah. I definitely, definitely did that. Yeah.
Yeah. Um, especially to like partners because there's some, there's some steamy ones from
Connor. So I just have partners every now and then, which is hilarious. Um, okay. So then we
go to court. We're in the Supreme court of Pennsylvania. Oh yay. Oh yay. Oh yay. I just
have to say real quick that i feel like that was like became a vocal stim for me and oftentimes
there would be like a word or phrase used that the that the keating five would then recycle
keating five plus uh plus oliver conrad obviously we would recycle it and just like say it yeah and
rebecca too yeah yeah yeah yeah walk by each other and say oh yay oh yay oh yay oh yay oh yay oh yeah
yeah it's so strange anything to get through those like you know 16 hour days yeah in court
Totally. We got the star witness, the teacher on the stand. Annalise is doing her thing. Annalise asked the court to subpoena Senator Trucco, who's conveniently in a corner office across the street. So, you know, this is just cool court TV stuff where he comes in without a lawyer. You know, he just comes in to help the court, I guess.
and she asked him pretty directly if he had trisha murdered and he uh responds with this great are you
out of your mind and then we're just like into a rapid fire annalise like passion taking over
question after question as the music sort of builds and you know the judge is trying to reign
her in like we're hearing the gavel come down yeah it's a wild monologue like it's it is it's
viola doing what she does best like this is this is just like her an extreme close-up just like
going for it totally and in moments like that i can i can see why this show inspired people to
want to become lawyers too yes you know because you see her just all of her lived personal
experience i think of dealing with the fucking racism you know of the system and everything
and that she's fighting for this guy who's experiencing that injustice and totally yeah
i felt that i felt that for sure yeah i'm gonna become a lawyer now yeah same i'm gonna become
lawyer my roommate at the time while while we were filming how do you murder became a lawyer
oh wow because of you and because of me yeah can you imagine he's like i was so inspired by you
creating a tv show about sexy lawyers you sent me yeah um no but he's he's like a big shot lawyer
now which is just we went i was playing a tv lawyer and now he's like a you know a lawyer
lawyer right anyway right after this monologue the keating five is naturally in awe of what they just
witness as is the audience as are you and i except asher who who has this jokey line of
maybe not a joke uh what questioning if if she gets disbarred will it reflect on their records
as well which is great knowing that also his father was the one who like fuck is so inappropriate
it's just so ridiculous yeah yeah yeah yeah well he's not fully transformed yet you know like he's
yeah of course it's baby steps right yeah yeah um we go back in court the ruling comes down our
client is walking free i genuinely got teary-eyed watching this yeah last night i mean the way his
knees give out and like like viola does this really like you know annalise is almost like
steadying herself on the on the table um we cut to the you know the gout we see the friends and
family it's just it's really nice like it's a beautiful beautiful scene and sort of buttoned
with this let me know what you're having tonight yeah for you know for dinner let me know what you
have any and he's like what let me know what you're having for dinner tonight yeah which is a
great callback yeah yeah that was so so moving yeah yeah watching that yeah um we go from there
to wes and annalise in her office where there's been a development in rebecca's case the police
have found evidence that griffin killed lila because she was seeing another man we see a
news report. The phone's been found in Griffin's car. We cut back to the scene where Annalise has
given Frank that envelope and we now realize it was Lila's phone. And she also instructs Frank
to sort of scrub the photos from any data that could connect it to Sam or Annalise. And, you
know, we go back into the office and Wes has this, you know, what about your husband? And Annalise
is like that's my my concern not yours and then we see a little laurel and frank again laurel says
she's not into frank you know cuts him loose and then we cut to wes with rebecca and rebecca kind
of the voice of reason is not okay with griffin getting pinned for the murder yeah i couldn't tell
like where they were in this team.
Any thoughts?
No.
No.
I can't picture it.
I can't picture it.
Then we cut back to Sam,
you know, watching the news update
and Annalise has, you know,
changed the wallpaper
saying it was the only thing left
that tied you to the photo
unless of course there's someone else
that knows what your penis looks like,
which is just a great, great dominant line
from Annalise.
And it's true too
because someone else could identify the penis that could be a problem that could be a problem
yeah and he sort of like questions like why and she has this really vulnerable i need you after
everything you've done to me i need you i need you i need you i need you i love you and it's
yeah just really good just viola crushing yeah um and then you know we're in classic murder
fashion there's a bunch of puzzle pieces sort of like coming together where wes and rebecca show up
to AK's. A cell phone
rings outside and we see Nate.
Nate had someone follow
Griffin and catches Frank
planting the phone in the car.
So now Nate knows that Annalise
is hiding something. And of course,
Nate also knows that Sam's
alibi didn't check out.
And then we cut to Asher's apartment.
He has the trophy and he's
excited about that. And then we cut to
night X where Asher is in bed
and we pan over
and he's in bed with Bonnie.
Which is wild. I could not remember that it happened this early on. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Like just so much, so many bombshells or bombshells, if you will, that are being dropped. Yeah. At the end of this episode.
It's also, it's really juicy writing for like, for Bonnie too, where we've, we have set up in the first couple episodes that like Bonnie constantly razzing Frank about sleeping with students.
Totally.
But then in this episode, having this turn of like wanting to protect Frank from getting hurt.
Yeah.
You know, and then sleeping with a student and then sleeping with a student.
So it's just like, it's a really cool, messy arc.
It is.
Yeah.
You know?
Yeah.
and then we we conclude the episode with annalise calling bonnie because this you know this is night
x this is the night of the murder yeah and she asked are you with him are you with sam um something
terrible's happened and we like see annalise's side of the phone call and she's in the house and
like looking at the the missing rug yeah and that's oh that's what happened i didn't understand
that well she was looking the missing rug yeah yeah yeah she's standing she's standing in her
office looking out into like the the main living room office area and she's looking at the the
missing rug but how does she know something terrible has happened well she knows something
terrible happened because she is in on it but like i think this is part of the alibi building maybe
oh interesting right but but the audience is no yeah i don't know i kept expecting
there's some blood on the ground when it was panning down or something no but i think that
this is like the point of like this is like just a good cliffhanger where annalise is crying that
something terrible has happened and we right we as the audience know that sam is dead right but
we don't know what annalise knows right and so in this last shot all we're seeing is that annalise
is looking at the missing car missing rug right it's a flash forward is a flash forward yeah yeah
it's a flash forward but like okay right so there's other information that she has that we
haven't also we're not no no the scene the scene with you and bonnie in bed is night x right yeah
oh yeah and she's on the other side of that right so she's gotten some information in between
right that has allowed her right we have no idea yeah we don't know what annalise knows this is the
first time we're seeing annalise in night x right right and it's her favorite rug it's her favorite
that's why she's so upset yeah something terrible has happened my rug is missing yeah exactly get
get here right now are you with sam i need his credit card that's right um right yeah yeah that's
it what'd you think great yeah that's great i i really i really loved it it's nice yeah to have
the distance i liked i really liked watching you get to soar thank you i appreciate that yeah it
was it was really yeah there's just so much in the episode like to be able to pack so much in with
all these different storylines and you know there's a lot of it's really filling to see the
main sort of court storyline as well you know i think there was like just a lot imbued in that
so yeah yeah that was great it's cool to see the momentum build over the season so like
you know episode nine of each season jim lindsey my my stand-in and suzy sax our script supervisor
who i'm hopeful both will be a guest on the show confirmed this to me because i couldn't remember
but like there was a mid-season finale that's right where we would catch up to the timeline
right that's right and there's a break and then there was a break right in both in viewership
right um i mean the break for us was a little bit later but there would be a break for the
viewership yes right right so there's more cliffhanger yeah yes it would come back in the
new year if i remember correctly but we're in episode six episode nine is the mid-season finale
so like you can you can feel the momentum build in this episode and then seven and eight you know
i'm sure we're going to see even more of that and then nine is like you know the big sort of
explosive yeah episode that sets up the the second half of the season but yeah the the time the
timeline of the present day and the flash forwards is is shrinking as we see um but yeah i really
like this episode i thought it was like yeah just great to see you do your thing and um and i think
just to see like a real court case with like real world circumstances, I guess. Yeah. I also wanted
to plug if, if you're interested in hearing more about this, I mean, there are just so many,
so many folks that are incarcerated that are innocent and an organization I've worked with
a little bit is called the innocence project. Um, and they do great work trying to, trying to get
those people out of the system. Um, but yeah, this, this is definitely one of those episodes
for me that started to like open up my eyes a little bit as well. Yeah. Yeah.
Do you have anything else to contribute? I think my eye's going to fall out.
Um, abolish prisons. Yeah. Abolish prisons. Let's abolish prisons. Yeah. Yeah. Um, yeah,
for real. That's mostly it. I think as much as I can say in one sentence. Yeah. Totally. Abolish
prisons cool yeah yeah um we can end with that yeah um cool next week is episode seven yes which
is named he deserved to die he deserved to die who who said i think it's probably sam i think
it's probably talking about sam i don't think it is i think that's a misdirect damn really i think
it's talking about someone's pet yeah probably true it was talking about the rat in the dream
that i had where i was trying to beat it down with the pillow the class the class hamster imagine
annalise's law class at a a class pet that's right while committing these murders we had to
take care of like a gerbil or something yeah it would only be a snake probably yeah snakes are so
rad but who do you think said um i don't know man i like he deserved to die i mean i feel like i
should guess connor just because i'm getting all of them that's true statistically you have a good
yeah but i'm not gonna i'm not gonna guess connor i'm gonna guess um he deserved to die i'm gonna
guess i'm gonna guess laurel i was thinking maybe that too no you don't take my yeah no that's my
idea i had that idea first but to keep it interesting also could maybe be wes oh yeah
sure that'd be a very surprising one but the show is very surprising um in many ways yeah like that
that's true i think if i'm remembering something about how sam dies to it could line up with that
that's probably not it's probably it's probably connor i'm guessing all three you can't guess
six characters i feel like connor it's oliver is the is the is the most likely to to like i don't
know to say some out of left field yeah yeah yeah yeah so who you said you're saying connor yeah
I like how this part of the episode

been absolutely loving the podcast as a huge fan of the show it's been wonderful to hear
do you want to do it in an irish accent i can try oh you can try firstly no you do it you're

my people too okay you're allowed to do it we're both no you you try it firstly i want to just
let you know that i've been absolutely loving the podcast as a huge fan of the show it's been
wonderful to hear your perspectives on it my question for you both would be what was the
most unforgettable moment you had during filming wow that was pretty good i had an irish babysitter
growing up um really yeah shout out to anita oh man i well clearly the most forgettable is is us
shooting the this car scene because neither of us remember if we were in the scene together true
true if it ever if it ever actually happened or if they used ai actors before the time technology
was available yeah i can't i can't i can't think of like specific scenes but i just i you know it
sounds it sounds maybe redundant but just the the the friendships and like the the moments behind
the scenes of like laughing and being silly i feel like are really that you know that's i don't know
that's what i remember the most you know yeah i think that like the us just being pals and like
having to sit in like court scenes and like entertain ourselves for 12 hours saying oh yeah
oh yeah oh yeah to each other oh yeah oh yeah all right thank you maya from dublin yes uh thank you
i'm sorry if we offended you with our accents but i love ireland she might not even have an irish
