hey everyone my name is matt mcclory and i played the character asher millstone on how to get away
with murder and i'm jack fallahy and i played connor walsh on that very same tv show and this
is the how we got away with murder podcast happy sunday jack happy thursday all you viewers who
listening on a thursday or friday or saturday they could be listening no you have to listen
on thursdays it's only available on thursdays it's only available on thursdays blacked out
the rest of the week that's right yeah yeah that's right yeah we decided to forcing viewers
into the experience was more important than actual uh amount of viewership so we're really
committed to that when we were making the show like this was at that time when it aired where
it was really important for us to not only see the live numbers of how many people watch but
also the DVR numbers. Right. So remember you'd get like, you'd get live plus three and then plus
five and then maybe plus seven. Right. Um, wow. So it wouldn't just be the, uh, you know, the live,
but it, you know, DVR was like massively important because people have lives and don't necessarily
watch, you know, things live. Yeah. So I'm just giving people the same grace where if they want
to listen, right. But you have to listen on Thursdays. Yeah. I support that. Yes. It makes
no difference to us if you listen to on thursdays or not just to be clear but listen to the ads
but listen to the ads and heart it like and subscribe yeah that's right we're we're supposed
to get a blizzard in new york today i know i know the snow the like dirty filthy snow and
it was piled up just like melted literally like in the last couple days also like man it's my
first winter in new york in a very long time and i could not believe the negligence from dog owners
just leaving dog poop everywhere there's i don't know what i was just crazy there's some there must
i mean you know better because you're a dog owner uh shout out to ollie um but adventure um there
must be is there some sort of like interaction with like dog ownership and walking your dog in
the snow yeah when i recently was stepping out it was like 30 turds yeah i cannot wrap my head
around it it literally just seems like people are like lazy and it right uh yeah it it shocked me
yeah even yeah so i was hoping that we would get like a nice rainstorm to clean the streets of new
york but instead we're just gonna get more snow and it's just gonna fossilize exactly i was just
thinking that yeah at least it'll be fossilized i'll be better than it's like wet from the melted
snow um sorry to make it if our new reviewers are eating right now um while watching and if
you're eating hero bread while you're watching while you're listening to the pod yeah exactly
oh boy oh boy well i'm excited for like the snow is just starting to come down um i know people
are tired of our winter but because it's my first winter back i'm feeling romantic about it so yeah
I support that for you. Thank you. It'll be an interesting 12 hours of snow, allegedly.
Yes. Yeah. It's also nice because, uh, I think you get to just cancel your day when it's,
you know, like, I mean, we're doing this, but after this, I'm going to do nothing. I think
I'm going to make soup. That's I love that for you. I have an event tomorrow and I haven't been
doing events in a while, but I'm, I'm presenting at the, the Amby's this podcast award show.
and i'm just are we nominated uh no we've already been nominated yeah we just came out we've been
nominated did we right we already won yeah actually we won every category thank you everyone
yeah so this is actually a busier weekend way busier weekend for me than it normally is um so
we'll see how the the snow does that i'm like do i wear shoes and i have to change at the event
or do i just wear snow boots on the carpet kind of thinking about it it's casual chic
just wear a parka yeah i mean i don't know thinking about it cool yeah i'm excited to
see what you decide on thank you thank you how rehearsals going you're opening
or tech tech is beginning soon yeah tech begins tomorrow um so for those that don't know when
you start teching a show you're you're rehearsing it in the theater so you move from a rehearsal
space into the theater space and you're adding all the technical elements to the show so there
are very long days where you're you know you're getting the lighting and sound design and set and
props and all all of that good stuff yeah into so a you know a bunch of different kinds of artists
are joining the creative process you know and they've been working on their own and we as
the acting company have been working on our own and it all comes together um and then yeah preview
started a couple weeks it's really exciting nice um yeah i was going to the theater yesterday for
the first time and it was just like um yeah it was really cool it's a beautiful space and feeling
very very lucky awesome um but this week we are talking about episode seven season one episode
seven he deserved to die yes that's right he did he did deserve to die that's right um we prove it
in this episode yeah yeah yeah this uh is a good episode yeah i think i'm getting ahead of myself
though we should do the we should do the normal bits and bolts to stop yeah yes i need to stop
this episode was written by warren shu leonard it was directed by eric stoltz it aired on november
6th, 2014. And it was filmed in Los Angeles, September 16th to the 30th. So this is exciting
because this is the first episode where we are filming in the middle of us filming the show is
released to the public. Um, I think that we should, when we recap episode eight, I think we
should really talk about that because that that deserves a bit of its own space on the podcast
just to talk about like how significant it was releasing and how that felt for us and yeah i
mean it was it was crazy to see it like be released into the wild after you know doing these seven
episodes um in a vacuum in a lovely little vacuum dyson a dyson vacuum thank you please be
sponsoring please sponsor us Dyson Vacuums um okay great so we're gonna talk we will talk about
the the release of the show there was like a party I remember yeah that Shonda that Shonda
threw maybe um I don't know it was for Shondaland oh yeah well actually yes there was the party at
Shonda's house I'm also remembering oh this was maybe when when the shows were airing for the
first time also there was the one i think gracia's madre oh yeah you're right yeah great so there's
we got we got a few things that we can no that wasn't sorry that wasn't the first season because
i remember pictures pictures with like kendrick samson and amy okuda which was that in season two
yeah yeah you're right okay gotcha well regardless what is time we'll go we will go into the memory
time vault and we will unearth some things about uh surrounding the release i remember being
incredibly anxious but that's sort of my baseline so I'm excited if I it's also funny because I
like I turned on one of my old phones today like because I've been trying to find old photos and
everything this phone man it is it looks like a like it feels like a toy and it's it's it's it
actually predates murder so it's useless for this podcast but it's it's from 2013 this phone and it
it it feels like a children's toy but i will i will find my next phone and hopefully find some
like i don't know bts photos from from that that party and see if it unlocks anything i tried to
go back on twitter and it only stopped scrolling at a certain point even though i know i didn't
delete my old tweets but weirdly if i search for specific words the older ones can come up
but yeah it's kind of strange i don't know what the deal is yeah sure just ran out of memory
yeah ran out of caring ran out of caring all right why don't you read us the logline today
i sure will annalise and her team throw themselves into defending rebecca with all sides playing
dirty meanwhile meanwhile michaela's meanwhile michaela receives a surprising request laurel
considers a career change and the flash forward reveals more about sam's death great job thank you
um we're not going to edit that part out we're going to leave no we're just going to keep that
okay perfect so we this throws us right back in the recap is which i think we're going to see more
and more of where like the recap is now like it's like two segments where like the first half of the
recap is just like this is what's happening in the relationships and then the second half the
recap is like this is what's happening with you know the macro conflict or you know case of the
season which in for us is lila stangard and rebecca sutter um but so it reminds us that
frank moral kiss oliver threw connor out nate saw frank plant the phone uh wes is obviously
advocating for rebecca and then it ends on the you're safe now you're safe in the motel room
on night x and then it takes us into the first scene of the episode is night x and i think this
is one of my favorite openings outside of like the pilot where it's this really cool sort of like
surreal, nonverbal, like even non diegetic, like you're not hearing any of the sound in the house
or the scene, but it's just Wes carrying Rebecca, who's covered in blood splatter. You hear this
like ominous sort of like beating heart with like some slight, you know, a little bit of like an
instrumental like electronic track but like not much um and you're just getting these like snappy
close-ups of like eyes and blood and body parts and he carries her he carries her upstairs into
the bathroom and then like you know really like gently sort of like washes away the blood and
then for the first time you like hear him speak and then we're like brought back into the realism
of the moment but like just the lighting and sound design was like really i don't know it really
did it for me in this opening. I really want to try and get our DP on at some point to talk just
like about what it was like to shoot these Night X scenes because they are visually and sonically
so different from, you know, the realism of, you know, present day murder world. I really like
this. Yeah, that's really cool. I would kind of just, I don't know, starts you in there. It's
kind of a little disorienting and just creates a different sort of sensory experience as an
audience member uh in that way yeah it's cool too because it like i feel like in with like network
television uh especially at this time it was you know everything's about attention right and like
you don't want people to flip the channel away so it's like i don't know it's almost like kind of
like ballsy or i don't know there's probably a better word courageous or brave or something that
the show is deciding to like have the first minute of the show just be like kind of abstract
and no dialogue right totally yeah i really liked it anyway yeah so we go two weeks earlier we're
wait also sorry wait am i wrong and is this have we seen rebecca at night x2 or is the first time
we're seeing her there we saw she was revealed last episode okay of being there but this is
but i mean we well we see her in the motel right and we yeah yeah and then we don't see her in the
house in ak's house i think we do i think we saw i think we just saw her in the house but not
covered in blood okay got you yeah we see like the i might be wrong and come at me in the comments
but i think that we saw her like just standing around with everyone i see okay um but this you
know this is presumably right after sam has been killed hence the the fresh blood right okay yeah
it's hard keeping all the things straight it's like remembering also now that we have the
knowledge of like what happens in the show as much as our memories remember it um and then
remembering what we was revealed it's kind of like with the night x stuff like things being
revealed and you're like i know these things but i don't know these things anyway yeah totally yeah
well and just like adding things and we'll see it there is there is an example of this later in this
episode where we see like the other side we see someone else's perspective of something we have
already shot on night axe which we'll get to later but point being it is really confusing when like
you're just adding piece by piece and it's before after sometimes in the middle of things that we've
already shot yeah we'll be right back now back to class so from this we go to we poppy pop we go two
weeks earlier annalise's house rebecca's telling the keating five her version of the events uh the
night lila was murdered she she uh rebecca has this you know joke that she that's when she killed
lila and put her in the the water tank um and annalee annalee sort of you know reams her for
if you don't take this seriously you're gonna go to jail you're gonna go to prison and be and be
raped and it's just yeah i don't know it's a really this is a really good example of like that
great uh deadpan delivery by katie totally like their comedy just like really shining i think in
this moment it is it is a viewer it's it's it's surprising it's like like what what yeah yeah
yeah for a second i was like whoa they got right right yeah same yeah yeah um but this is good
this is also just good like this scene turns into just like good uh i don't know community
building of the house and and everyone in it you asher has this great line i picture everyone
having sex when you know there's a comment made about rebecca and wes being in cahoots in the
sheets um and i i just love your delivery of that line i think it's so good thank you yeah i love
that yeah then he makes a lewd gesture to michaela and she rightfully threatens the sexual harassment
against him felt like a relief to see her just yeah check him absolutely in that way and yeah
it's also interesting i wonder i'm like does he really picture everyone having sex or is he just
like this is just like what he thinks that he should be doing you know what i mean like he's
just trying to fit into his idea of like what he considers a man should be basically you know huh
yeah maybe i don't know i i kind of buy it that ashers maybe just envisions everyone having sex
Yeah. Yeah. Something that I don't know why in this scene in particular, just like seeing me
leaning on the desk and then Wes sitting there and, and even you in your chair, like, I was just
like, man, our clothes are so tight. Like it was, it was such a time where like the cuts of men's
clothing specifically, it was so form fitting. Yeah. It was often uncomfortable. Yeah. And it
like, it kind of gave me this like flashback cause I'm wearing like baggy sweats now, you know,
which is just more the style to have just like baggy area or clothes and
watching this kind of gave me this,
like this,
like flashback to like,
like almost viscerally,
like feeling how hot I used to get on set and like how problematic it was
that everything was so tight.
Yeah.
Which like,
I,
I don't know if you remember this,
but there was a season,
maybe season one or two where I went home for the holidays.
Cause we had this big long break between filming and I,
i ate so much of my mom's italian cooking and you know had some cocktails and cookies it was
the holidays it was it's the best and i came to set and i was always one of like the last people
to get into costume you know like you want to like hang out in your right your everyday clothes
before you like get into wardrobe yeah yeah comfortable and i got you know we were about
to start filming so i you know a pa comes to my uh trailer knocks and i was like oh i gotta get i
gotta throw it on so i throw it on and i tried to button my shirt and it wouldn't button because i'd
put on some lbs you know proudly and i remember going on to set and they didn't have like a
different size in the shirt because it was so last minute you know it was like six minutes before i
had to be on the stage and film right and so because i was wearing a suit jacket they just
took scissors and they cut the back of my shirt open so that you wouldn't see it like you know
stretching right that's the thing that happens like i remember even on like on like photo shoots
and stuff i've i've been in that position where they like let it out in the back yeah yeah yeah
but yeah and it's also uncomfortable i mean i don't know wearing dress shoes all the time
dress shoes are the worst yeah that was the worst and connor like at this time it was like very
millennial to fashion where like we were doing like no show socks right or at least connor like
frequently you like zoom out and like connor's like not wearing and i just remember like because
they're not they're like prop shoes like you're not wearing them or at least i was never wearing
them so they were basically new right and so i just remember like my ankles getting like cut up
and bleeding because i never effectively broken my shoes you know yeah i had to get like these
like orthopedic inserts because i i'd had plantar fasciitis before and it was like messing my feet
up and stuff just being in the dress shoes and it's like people do this all the time yeah people
god bless you the real the real heroes going yeah exactly exactly people people are listening
being like wow these actors are complaining about having to wear shoes exactly in our defense most
people are wearing uggs most of the actors on set are wearing literally wearing uggs in like
i really want to find some bts of like viola davis giving like you know a crazy
impassioned like monologue and it's just it's just her and uggs yeah yeah that should honestly
be an art like they should pay money like yeah anyway do you want to wear dress shoes ugg
definitely not uggs delivering great monologues yeah exactly um please sponsor us uh okay so
the clothes are tight that's my big takeaway of this scene uh frank runs in he turns on the news
The sex is out of the bag.
They, of course, have someone's leaked to the press that that Rebecca and Griffin had sex.
And the spin is, of course, that Rebecca initiated it because he had a vow of celibacy.
Annalise says, we need a gag order, which takes us to court, the gag order hearing.
And Annalise is arguing that without a gag order, you know, the press is obviously slut shaming our client.
Asher makes a horrible comment.
Sure does.
Rebecca Sutter, slutter.
the legal teams are all arguing about who leaked the intimacy to the press and of course annalee
says it doesn't matter because our client rebecca as a woman will be unfairly characterized in the
papers which i thought was also just like a i appreciated that like whoever did leak it i can't
remember right now if we figure it out but we don't i don't think okay yeah like it's meant
even if it quote unquote appears neutral on the surface that, you know, like it will impact
her negatively. It's just an important, like framing added in, you know, uh, of just like,
you know, the systemic sexism and stuff. Also having three different sets of lawyers in the
courtroom is very chaotic and confusing to me. Yeah, totally. I mean, it's, uh, it's a lot of
people yelling and probably, I mean, it must've been a ton of coverage for us to do too. Yeah.
you know just a lot of different camera setups because you're you're just at even just adding
one additional legal team is like hours more of filming it's true it's true another 10 hours
there's nothing yeah uh i have to add i have to add one other point from before but i was just
remembering that for a while you smartly chose to like use couch cushions and like have it like in
your lap like sort of covering like the part of your shirt that would normally you know that for
anyone would like kind of bulge when you're sitting you know oh yeah yeah like your tummy
yeah i remember being jealous that like you know only one person could do that in the scene
and when that became your character thing like no one else could do it yeah i know it's funny
because people like i remember in later episodes or seasons even people being like oh like connor's
holding his emotional support pillow right and i was like no this is like me trying to be
comfortable and also like having some body dysmorphia where i'm just like trying to hide
my body from me as an actor just trying my best to never be on camera right right my least favorite
thing as an actor is being on camera which is right yeah holding the pill over your face
initially and quite literally trying to step out of frame if possible catch me pacing out of the
frame in every scene right and now a word from our sponsors and we are back okay so keegan griffin's
lawyer played by greg german he's great he is knocking this out of the park yeah there's a
great smarmy lawyer that's right and they are arguing that they want a second autopsy to prove
that the scratch marks on lila couldn't have belonged to griffin because he's because he's
a football player and trims his nails i guess is that a thing no i don't know i don't think so
okay what it's funny i was trying to think about it because like i played water polo in high school
and you would they would check your fingernails before games because you know everything's
underwater and so like if you had really long fingernails you could scratch the shit out of
someone under under the water and people couldn't see it yeah but like right this argument that like
as a quarterback he wouldn't have long finger i'm like you can scratch someone with like
not very long fingernails i thought it's so maybe the ball doesn't pop when you catch it
um yeah you're like it's a balloon yeah yeah yeah no they're a bit stoutier than that yeah
yeah yeah oh we popped another balloon that's right that's right okay we go from court to
we're in the hallway someone recognizes connor it's a hot gentleman it's someone that he has
slept with in the post oliver uh breakup sitch michaela comments on how like embarrassing it
is that he can't remember these people's names and Connor delivers this. Well, the important
thing is that they remember mine. And this sort of just jumped out to me because like the way I
deliver that line, like I kind of like lean into her and like tease her a little bit. It felt a
little bit, it felt more like Jack and Asia than Connor and Michaela to me. Like it felt like,
like how I would just interact with my friend Asia. Like it doesn't feel, I think, authentic
to connor at this point of their relationship i don't know why i just i was just like oh huh
like that just feels more personal than i think they would be in this moment that didn't register
for me but i hear that yeah i don't know there's something about it that like felt a little uh
sibling-y which i think is like how asia and i are together and i think connor and michaela get
to that point but at this point in the show like they're not you know what i mean like they're not
like buds like that right um we see griffin and rebecca fighting in the hallway the lawyers come
and break it up then we go straight into annalise's house where she is she calls rebecca a terrorist
and then says something along the lines of how it makes her grateful for the miscarriages and sam
you know has like the annie and she says i'm serious you know imagine having a child like that
which in like famous how to get with murder fashion it's like two lines like really it's
just two lines and it's like a massive amount of backstory yeah you know like we learn like oh
okay annalise has had multiple miscarriages right which which is going to there's going to be a
payout at the end of this episode i just put that together yeah yeah yeah that yeah this new
information that like they expertly drop in into like like it's almost innocuous where like you
could just breeze by this and be like oh like that's sad but that's just the thing she said
but i think that the viola is able to take these little like tasty breadcrumbs that the writers
airdrop into these episodes and she's like tasty breadcrumbs thank you for your bread
and she uh she makes them like she makes a meal out of them you know but it's it's not like heavy
handed like i think it's i think it's the right amount of um mustard i guess i don't know i'm
hungry i'm just i'm just saying a bunch of good things yeah mustard on the beat yeah yeah mustard
on the beat yeah i don't know and it just it like it's just great character building like you can
like feel this like deep deep pain that she's covering up in like a jokey delivery um yeah
and then sam tries to like massage or like get intimate with her and she blocks that and says
she needs more time that takes us back into the living room we're working on the case but michaela
doesn't care because she got an interview for a summer internship which pisses off connor
um and then the state prosecutor wendy parks comes in and we're all scared that she's in our
office right and she she just like beelines pass us for annalise's office and
viola has that great uh speak of the devil and she shall appear yeah
oh it's so good uh i think i feel like i remember in this scene when she's there
we were i think received the direction that we should be scared or concerned and i i don't know
why but i feel like it's and then i feel like we couldn't really understand why or something
and then i feel i also feel like well i don't know if this is true in this case or in other
cases but i feel like i imagine like tightening like playing the stakes ridiculously high especially
maybe not in my coverage just like i mean this is important and like we will i think at least i will
especially talk about this once we get past the mid-season finale but like they oftentimes were
encouraging us to i think act in ways that were like more engaging for the story and right and
as for the audience but to us as characters like yeah it was often didn't make sense for us right
where it's like why this is just like a person coming to a legal office like we wouldn't why
would we experience fear you know and i think that that that often played out in court cases
like like our reaction shots in court where right it was it was a bit heightened and sometimes
sensationalized and yeah which i think makes for engaging an engaging show as a viewer it does
but i but i am very excited to see you know especially once like we catch up to night x
and we're like in a post murder world like i remember them like really encouraging us to
care about the court cases and i'm like i just chopped up a body like i'm not i don't care about
this right i'm i'm not sleeping at night i'm like i think i'm gonna go to prison right and they're
like yeah but you really have to care if aries delivers this monologue right right especially
yeah when you're sitting in the room for like 12 hours before your coverage and then all yeah you
have to like pop on the caring uh yeah yeah i do i really liked working with eric stoltz on this
episode just because he you know he's an actor himself yeah and so i think he like he he did
give really fun direction and at least like was able to translate it into like an acting
vocabulary and i think he oftentimes was like conscious of like oh yeah like maybe this maybe
this like doesn't make the most sense from a character perspective but he was able to like
translate it in a fun way right i also have this memory um of him in this episode like talking to
us because again like the show hadn't yet come out but he you know was like it's gonna be a hit
it's gonna do well and he was just giving us advice and i remember him being like don't buy
a fancy car get a therapist instead and i was like that's really good advice and then i didn't
i didn't get a therapist for two more years
whoops yeah and we'll have to tell the story one day of your of your like week with a very fancy
car yeah my week with yeah my one week with a lamborghini right stay tuned for me having a
lamborghini for one week that's right and how it ruined my life that's right no it was fun
please sponsor us it did yeah lamborghini please sponsor us it did confirm for me that there's
nothing in my there i i do not want a fancy car like that like it was a nightmare having it and
but it was kind of fun you know taking a gal around in a lamborghini sure i get it i guess
kind of okay so yeah wendy parks has come in the devil speaks uh her and annalise have this like
great little back and forth but she's come to bring us a case file that's been sealed that will
help our legal team in discrediting the medical expert for griffin's team and the second autopsy
that they want to do so this is classic classic highway murder where we go into the classroom
and a montage begins, where the show is teaching us about medical experts and how to discredit
them, how they work in court, how they work for a case, how to discredit them, how to use them,
etc, all the things. And it intercuts with us in court and playing out what we've been taught
in class. And yeah, I don't know, it just struck me this time watching it and like thinking about
how effective this is like as a device on a tv show we're like oh like you have a classroom
setting where you can just teach the students and also the audience yeah about these things and then
have it play out in court yeah which is just like a very convenient i think as a writing tool yeah
and it's just a great way of getting information and exposition in without you know while still
making it entertaining and interesting yeah that's right for sure also like the classroom like you
i wanted to ask like asher has asher's like holding the trophy like a baby right is that
was that a matt thing like did you decide to do that i think it was a matt thing i mean
him having the i think the trophy in class i was wondering when i first saw it i was like oh that's
unique i think the only other time we see that is like when west leaves it on his desk when he's
like yeah but like having it even in the classroom but yeah i think holding it cradling it like a
baby and then at the end of when i when i'm speaking to annalise in the class gesturing to
her with it you know the idea of just like you know using it to make sure make it hyper visible
to everyone yeah yeah i really liked it it's it's a great choice and like very asher that he would be
he'd be flaunting it right um and you know i kind of wish that like i don't know he like swagged it
out like like put an outfit on yeah or something or made it into a necklace just dangling that's
Right. It doesn't have a giant chain. Yeah. Yeah. Um, all right. So we go intercut. So we're in
court. We successfully use the report that the prosecution like backdoor dealt to us to discredit
this medical expert. Yeah. Alicia and Greg do a great job also just bringing their unique
personalities and like, and lawyer and lawyer styles. It's just really fun to watch like them
and Annalise and it's, they're all just so different, you know? Yeah. I don't know about
you, but like, I, I actually got worried like later in the show when like, we have to like
actually be lawyers where I was trying to think a lot like, there's so many great film and TV
lawyers. And I think to like make a distinctly unique, you know, lawyer performance is such a
it's such a thing because it's there's so many representations of it. But I agree with you. I
think they both do a really great job to like, you know, in a little bit of space with like,
such little runway, like we have a pretty clear idea of like who these people are,
even though we've just heard them talk about like a court case, right now. Right. Okay,
so then we're back in class we learn that we need to we need an expert to out expert their expert
which takes us to the morgue where wes is wearing a scarf i think and is talking to the og corner
of lila and trying to get him to look at this book where there's some bug bites right i guess
right um and it just just elfie like being as tall as he is just like wearing a scarf in a
morgue was like i laughed out loud where i was like you don't belong there you're not you're not
supposed to be there like you know the the corners and like medical scrubs and he's just like look
look at my book right right it's so good puppying his way in yeah puppying his way in an innocent
woman is going to go to prison if you don't look at this book right um right that takes us to
a quick hallway scene where annalise tells us that we need to get lila's parents to oppose the
second autopsy and that whoever does that is going to get a real special trophy or a real a prize
better than the trophy which i do i do not think plays out in this episode yeah i don't think so
i don't think that's a good point yeah tune in tune in next week to see if anyone gets whatever
that prize is right um that takes us to legal aid with con uh laurel's showing up with some
like takeout food carlita does a little bit of cold acting she rubs her hands together and she
blows on them so that like it does make sense to me that we're two weeks out from night x night x
is winter so i think in this episode just given wes's scarf right and carla's cold acting i think
the show was like, wait, we needed to start feeling like winter. And you start to notice
like we're wearing coats a little bit more, I think, you know, like if we remember when we
first get to law school, like Wes is biking in a, you know, an Oxford shirt on campus. And it's
like, you know, fall, I guess, or like late summer. So there's a little bit of a environmental
storytelling happening, right? It's like, hey, guys, it's starting to get cold. So that when
night x comes we've caught up with temperature right uh planting the seas of cold yeah planting
but she does a little cold acting which i think she stole from me obviously um no one else has
experienced cold other than you she's never experienced cold even though i think she like
grew up maybe in colorado um so we'll have to have her on it's going to be real hard-hitting
questions like have you ever been anywhere cold right right did you know that those hand gestures
help with providing warmth or did you just steal them from jack yeah exactly you were just doing
them right khan is overwhelmed he offers laurel a job at legal aid that takes us to west's apartment
where they're west and rebecca are just bonding they're working on the case but they're bonding
and she tells i think she's like you know it's kind of this like wounded animal type trope where
like she's like don't help me like i don't need help don't patronize me and then he like kind of
does patronize her right but then she kind of likes it and you know it's like this idea i guess
that for this character like no one's ever looked out for her like yeah genuinely tried to help her
and that makes her defensive and sort of like lash out right biting the hand that feeds her type deal
yeah i also you know there's a moment where rebecca calls out west for being the most private
person ever and for some reason it didn't occur to me until this point but i'm like oh yeah we
really know like nothing about wes like we know less about wes than i think we do about any
character yeah asher michaela connor i guess it just never occurs to me because i feel like
alfie is so transparent you know what i mean like alfie i feel like deliberately has no mystery
human being yeah exactly but i'm like oh yeah i mean we really don't know and he's like more
visible than any of the rest of us too so yeah it is interesting because he's tall you mean like
he's visible absolutely yeah he's visible yeah and he's number two on the call sheet yeah he can't
hide right in a crowd that's true no no you're you are that's actually spot on and i think like
good mystery building from the show right where they point that out i would say the only other
person at this point that is as cloaked in mystery for me is probably like bonnie yeah you know
because like we haven't really seen anything from bonnie's perspective we know very very little about
bonnie or at this point in time other than the fact that she like has feelings for sam yeah although
but yeah but i guess relative also to like the screen time right of like alfie has so much screen
time and stuff yeah we know very you're absolutely right yeah rebecca knows we know that he can bike
with no hands and that he lies about coin tosses and that's it yeah he was he grew up in the circus
that's why for both of those things yeah that's exactly right we'll find out where he grows up i
think at the end of this episode all right that takes us to night x poppy pop pop pop pop pop
wes is in the motel room with rebecca and this is where we get the the titular line he deserved to
die rebecca is rehearsing the confession what she would say to take responsibility for killing sam
i think um and she's about to go on trial for like the case that we are in present day working on
And so she says like, you know, she might as well go down for it and not Wes implying, I think that Wes killed Sam question mark. I don't even remember, but I think that that's what she's implying. And she has this like, please just let me help you for once.
This is the most information we get, even though it's not a clear answer about who might've killed Sam though. Right. At this point.
yes right yeah yeah yeah yeah like there it is strongly implying that wes has killed sam i think
i thought that he was saying that rebecca killed sam i thought that's what it was well i mean she
is saying that like she's saying like i did i think she is rehearsing though what she would
say to take responsibility because she she ends that whole bit being like let me help you for
once right but this is the closest that we still get right like is it before we're like it could
have been michaela could have been connor yeah that's what i mean it's like yeah it's it's
definitely like narrowed down to the two people in this room right at this point right that takes
us to michaela interviewing for her like summer internship um she brags that she also got into
columbia and yale which is you know flex um and then it turns out she's actually not interviewing
for a summer internship but that her fiance this is where he has his he's lawyered up and he is
serving her a prenup she got served yes as one might say um why didn't aiden warn her oh my god
anyway such a great writing and great surprise yeah it is but it's also like it is weird i'm like
if you had a prenup like you would tell you you would tell your partner like there would be some
conversation right there must be a fallout from this yes there must be yeah i think i think there
is likely a fallout i think so this becomes ignored she signs up yeah this is completely
ignored yeah this takes us back to annalise's house where michaela lies to the group obviously
about the interview connor is on circle of friends which is supposed to be you know the social media
app in this world like the facebook thing yeah yeah and i like i just don't i dislike when shows
do this because like no matter how good the the thing looks on screen it's just for me it just
takes me out as an audience member where i'm like this isn't a real thing this doesn't exist
you know and like you could just play it without showing it i think right is my like you know what
i mean yeah like connor could just be looking at his phone or i guess at this point in time like
maybe a computer and we could just comment on it anyway that that that bugged me a little bit but
i think that they do a good job designing it like i think it looks fine but that takes us into
annalise's office where sam says he can help with the stand guards and getting them to not agree to
the second autopsy um because Lila's parents didn't trust Griffin and then yeah we have hey
Mr. Darcy oh yeah to Sam Mr. Darcy do we know that Sam knows that she knows I'm not sure we
don't think we've directly seen it but maybe maybe Annalise tells him at some point off camera
yeah I don't know that that is a good question I think it is regardless I think it's it's a really
cool line to give to rebecca just to like give her power right you know that takes us into frank
and laurel on a little field trip they're gonna go and talk to mama stand guard who's walking her
dog they have like a little flirtation and and you know it's this it's this will they won't they
that is continuing throughout the episode laurel goes to play with the dog with with lila's mom's
dog she uh yeah she immediately recognizes her as a as as someone on annalise's legal team and
you know laurel just gives this like very impassioned plea about how the second autopsy
is only going to help griffin i think it's really really nice acting from carla here yeah and then
cuts to some more great acting where bonnie burrows who plays mrs stangard is giving this
really beautiful performance on the stand begging the court to let her daughter rest in peace yeah
that takes us to the hallway where uh we you know the group keeps making comments about rebecca and
wes being lovers and how things are rocky which really really bumped me too because i'm just like
she's on trial for murder like like of course like whether or not they are sleeping together
whatever but like yeah like of course she's not doing well right right selfish little fucks um
this is the part by the way where then she says she was my friend or is that later uh yeah yeah
it is this part okay yep yeah i'm gonna pretend i didn't say that right and katie did great work
here with the uh she did great work with the she was my friend line you see you know i don't know
to me it recontextualized rebecca's joke at the beginning of the episode and made me think that
that was actually like a coping sort of like defense mechanism about how she's grieving her
friend rather than just like kind of trying to you know piss off these people you know definitely
yeah yeah yeah yeah really nice work the hot guy who recognized connor comes back um this is where
we get the uh the great asher you know joke to connor what do you have some sort of voodoo penis
i'm so freaking mad i wasn't born gay yeah yeah which i just love it was really good yeah i love
i love i love connor then like goes up to this guy julian and like tries to ask him on a date
he he forgets that you know they met on humper the murder universe's version of grinder
presumably and this guy julian's like i barely remember it blah blah blah and connor goes how
how would i make you remember and then cut to courthouse bath right right right his eyes are
watering with a special technique um i i i laughed because there's a look of pure misery on connor's
face i don't know if it's your face but when you flip him around there's a shot of you and i paused
it and you're like me hating doing sex scenes i thought i mean i thought it was like it plays
though it plays as connor like you know just like compulsively like yeah having sex to try and you
know fill the feel something yeah fill the hole or whatever yeah no pun intended fill the hole
um yeah yeah i don't know it could have been a little bit of both yeah i mean yeah i i also just
remember i remember like personally at this point being like really like he's gonna have sex in the
courthouse bathroom as he's like trying to like be the star student right also like i don't even
know if i was aware of this on the day but like they show our shoes and it's like clearly there's
someone like peeing in the urinal next to the stall as we're having sex like it's like it's so
it's so over the top you know which i get is like how they're trying to write connor but watching it
i was just like man this is some reckless behavior which you know maybe that's the point um all right
So that takes us to Sam giving Annalisa a martini and boy, did it make me want a martini.
They seem to be like, I don't know, repairing a bit, I guess is the point, but she needs
like more time.
That takes us back to court where the prosecutor has hired their own medical experts.
So they've flipped on us.
They're backstabbing us.
This medical expert has confirmed that the markings are indeed female fingernails.
We don't know why she's flipped.
So we need to figure out the answer to that question, which takes us to Annalise and Nate in a car at night, which is where they love, they love meeting in a car. Cars only. Yeah. Cars only. Which again, you see this often in TV show like this, this would maybe make sense just because of the nature of what they're discussing. But like, I think you become really aware, at least I did when you're making a TV show of how often you like Connor or any of us really will like go to someone's door to have a conversation that would
so clearly be text right in real life but like you know you can't that's not interesting you
can't show people just like texting one another right the show also existed before text messages
existed if you forgot yeah that's right yeah yeah it's just landline phone calls yeah exactly
i also love that when when we cut to a couple things when we cut to annalise we can tell i
don't know i could tell that it was a scene with nate i mean i guess partly because she's in the
car but also just her physicality she has like this look of desperation on her face and sort of
like her her like shoulders are like kind of like caved forwards the way that i feel like it uh the
way that it always is when she's with nate you know um she looks like she's about to like cry
and vomit yeah but absolutely but this scene i'm like what like on what grounds does annalise think
that she can ask nate for a favor yeah you know what i mean like i'm glad that he he bounces you
know like he he has this like i tried to give you an out you know when this all goes to shit like
remember that like i'm glad he's like boundaried with her but i'm just like anyways what are you
doing i know i mean the fact that he the fact that even shows up does say that she has some
you know that he's somewhat like hooked you know of course of course and there's like this
deep care or whatever that he feels for her i guess yeah but like i'm having a hard time i
think we saw we've seen so little like we haven't seen them be emotionally supportive of one another
really right so like as a viewer i'm having a hard time where i'm like okay we've like seen them
fuck and then we've seen her like destroy his life right so like why is he coming back for more
it is a question mark for me as a viewer watching yeah and there's a great way it gets added like
kind of gets out of the scene where it's it's on viola in the car and billy crosses in front of
the camera and that cross takes us directly like from like a medium wide shot into like a close-up
of yeah and at least that thought that was really cool too yeah photography totally yeah okay that
takes us to the motel room night axe uh rebecca's alone in the motel and decides to make a phone
call she calls 9-1-1 which i was like screaming at the tv i know and then she's you know they
ask if she's okay and she says i'm sorry this is a prank call and then there's a call back which
at first you know at first we think like oh maybe this is the police returning the call but it's in
fact wes and this is you know what i mentioned at the top of the episode this is one of those
moments where we see the other side the other perspective of something we've already filmed
during night x so we already saw wes in the gas station having the phone call of i want you to
know we're taking care of it yeah you know they didn't agree to it at first but i i got them to
or whatever this is the reverse of that phone call from rebecca's perspective that takes us back to
present day where bonnie is telling us that we need to go figure out why the prosecutor flopped
so we're going to the thirsty whale which i will say one of the things i do really enjoy about tv
shows is when they get to make up the names of businesses right in particular right you know
yeah uh we've already had a couple good ones this season but i really like thirsty whale
there's also a couple i love that there's like a triple lol in a row in a row of connor's gesturing
to his face this works well on women this works on women as well yeah and bonnie's saying he's
right and then rebecca's saying uh in the dry voice girls night woohoo yeah also rebecca has
like a i'm really can i go with them i'm really good at flirting with girls right and bonnie's
like i bet you are or something right but he's like yeah like that's the least surprising right
right yeah girls night though i mean that's we're into girls night rebecca laurel mckayla i love
this like i love seeing the three of them just in a scene together yeah and it's just like such a fun
kind of like rompy scene where like rebecca has figured out you know just eavesdropping and being
a fly on the wall and and observing the chaos of the keating five is pieced together the charlie
thing and the prenup and she's sort of pitting laurel and michaela against each other and you
know says that she'll stop pestering them if they stop gossiping about her and wes right that takes
as to the thirsty whale, where I'm doing some drunk acting. And he, Connor is drunk and off
track. He is not getting any information. He's talking about his boy trouble. I can't remember
drunk acting is really hard for me. And I like now I have I worked with a clowning teacher recently
because I had to do it for a film, my buddy Spencer, shout out Spencer. And now I think I
have a better handle on it. But I think at this point in my career, like it really made me anxious
to have to try and act drunk sure i think i i think i probably had a beer before this scene
i think to try and like get it into my body yeah which is sort of a trap like it never helps yeah
it's hard because then you don't want to think you're overdoing it because then you feel like
you're looking like a fool you know what i mean like it's yeah it is a hard uh needle to thread
yeah yeah the trick they say is to like try and act sober because that's like what drunk people
are doing right but yeah it's something i've always struggled with and i think like more
recently i've gotten a better handle on like even to like simulate the feeling of alcohol like
taking like a shot of like apple cider vinegar or something before a scene yeah i remember uh i
really liked evan peters in mayor of easttown i think he has like the best drunk acting i've ever
seen on camera and i really liked uh they were interviewing kate winslet like about that scene
because she's also in the scene but she's sober and evan had this like long arduous process of
like how to methodically get this acting done and they asked kate winslow like what her process was
and she's like i just take a couple shots i mean that's what i used to do when i was younger at
least so i definitely tried that didn't really help can i also just go back to the thirsty whale
real quick i remember alfie had such a hard time not breaking during the takes where i'm like
talking about my penis uh as the as the millstone musical um yeah and i'm like so close to his face
yeah the disco stick yeah and it's it's just i don't talk to this before but i love like when
you're in this like when you're in this dynamic where like ultimately it's best for the camera
and for the audience when you keep it surprising and spontaneous and also it makes it even harder
for the other person in the scene who's already breaking because they can't kind of adapt to what
you're doing yeah um and so it just fueled me to keep being more and more ridiculous and yeah and
it was just yeah it was really fun yeah i remember even like for some of those scenes because you
guys are behind me like i was sitting there and just hearing like i wasn't looking at you though
so just hearing like the millstone meets and me just like trying to not convulse my shoulders
oh man good time but that takes us into the office where you're doing some drunk acting
really well i think and you have successfully gotten info there was a plea deal agreed to
between griffin's team and the prosecutor and annalise wants to find a way to win
which takes us to the gag order and rebecca suggesting that maybe she should leak something
to the press because she doesn't she's just an innocent young gal and doesn't know how gag
orders work or what they are even. And Wes does not like this. But Rebecca leaks to the press
that she was raped by Griffin, which takes us to court. Annalise is sanctioned, which I don't know
what that means. It also doesn't seem to matter in any way. Everyone's obviously pissed that this
like this rape accusation is now made like headlines. The judge decides that they are going
to exhume the body and do a second autopsy but with a medical examiner that the judge picks or
selects yeah mr keegan yeah has a strike from the record judge and the judge there is no jury here
mr keegan and look on his face is really funny i love when we insert a funny moment yeah yeah so
yeah the second autopsy takes us to the hallway where annalise and wendy have a little uh a little
back and forth and and annaleigh says that i'll just stick to beating your ass in court which is
great yeah and then oh we're in we're in wes and rebecca's apartment and wes is really not pleased
with with rebecca and her ability to just lie about these these rape allegations which is a
very serious thing too that's a very serious thing to lie about yeah and he gives her the silent
treatment and yeah then like back to this theme of like i'm not trying to fix you i'm trying to
help you um and then they smooch yeah i think the lead-up is like i don't know how there's some like
pattern recognition in this for me where i can tell sometimes in like film and tv when these
two characters are arguing and it's building and it's a building building and for some reason i'm
just like oh this is going to be the moment where the are they arguing and it gets louder and louder
then they pause and then they just come together and yeah there's like yeah there's some sort of
like math equation of like how quickly they're like cutting back and forth and how it's shot
yeah yes yeah totally somehow maybe being in a two shot also when you'd expect them to maybe
be in like single shots you know yeah two shot is when two people are are on the screen at the
same time right yeah that's exactly it i think actually it's like it's like close up close up
close up and then two shot right close up two shot you're like oh this is leading up to yeah
you know the beat drop that's right rebecca says we shouldn't do this but then obviously they do
um in the bdsm apartment uh i think there's this really cool uh piece of editing here where like
the sheets are pulling off like back off the bed and then we intercut with the sheet coming off of
lila's dead face autopsy disgusting um it is absolutely disgusting yeah and i mean this is
like unsettling yeah like but this is a great example of like for me as a first-time viewer
like like i would have obviously i'm not in either of these scenes but also like this this intercut
like is such a stylized piece of of the show that even reading it at the table read like you
wouldn't really conceptualize it that clearly yeah so seeing this i'm like holy shit like
oof like really feel it as a first time audience member like completely unique new experience and
i i did not like it i did not i did not like a sex scene intercut with like close-ups of like
decomposed yeah like stitches being pulled out and like it's just really gross stuff
yeah anyway that takes us to i mean good job i guess but i hated it uh and then it takes us to
oh post-coital where they're they're in they're in bed and rebecca rebecca's first line after sex is
you were born in ohio which i don't know as like a michigan boy and there being a big like michigan
ohio rivalry i'm like that is the least sexy thing anyone could ever say post sex i also it's funny
when he's when he says to rebecca i've never been to europe like it just hit me so oddly because
alfie is so distinctly not american to me and so distinctly like british you know i have to be
honest i fast-forwarded through this part because i was so uncomfortable i just don't like seeing
elfie enough in a romantic right oh my god it gave me the heebie-jeebies that's hilarious um
so he said wait what does he say to her he says i've never been to europe it's one of the facts
he's like sharing oh he's like listing facts yeah he says i've never been to europe which i feel
like the writers must have put in as like a just kind of something funny yeah a joke yeah yeah
yeah that's great yeah um then we go to connor at oliver's apartment he's brought flowers he
kind of feels embarrassed about getting the flowers this is also the advice he got from
the gal right thirsty whale right and someone opens the door it's like a studly guy and uh
we reveal that connor thinks like oh maybe this maybe oliver moved but it turns out that like no
this guy's here with oliver um yeah really brutal and he tells connor if he cares at all about
oliver he should never come back that's rough yeah that's really rough yeah which is super
rough um frank although i will say flag on the play a little bit which this comes up in the
frank and laurel scene coming up i'm like how these people haven't known each other that long
yeah you know what i mean like the stakes are so high in these relationships and i'm like they've
known each other four weeks right right it's interesting too because i forgot that we kind
of go away from oliver for a while and i guess it makes sense also knowing that like oliver was not
initially like a character that was like in there a lot that they probably writers probably needed
time to be able to like figure out how to fit more of your relationship in there later right
like they probably wrote more of the yeah and he was on broadway oh at the same time yeah conrad
right now, like while we're doing this, this season, I'm pretty sure he's in The King and I
at Lincoln Center on Broadway. Oh, wow. With my friend Ashley Park. Shout out Ashley Park.
High school theater with. So I think that it was a combination of yes, like Oliver as a character
being expanded in a very big way, but also like Conrad being in New York City doing a show on
Broadway. And like, I remember like having a lot of respect where like he would fly out. Oh, wow.
like you know doing eight shows a week that's tiring and he would fly out for like a day or
two to shoot all of our scenes and then he would fly back wow yeah this is before Conrad has moved
to Los Angeles as a series regular so like he was like flying he's commuting right he's commuting
to work from the other side of the country okay so then we go to Frank and Laurel and he's trying
to convince Laurel to stay at the firm he's like if it's a if it's me you know don't let it stop
you know I I don't know man he's like I think about you all the time it's freaking annoying
but I'll get over it don't quit because of me and I I this is crazy to me like you you guys don't
even know each other like you don't you kissed once but they have a real connection I know I
get it right which we see later right we see later be sure but like at this and I get you obviously
you have to build the stakes up but i'm like okay yeah and then that takes us to nate and rebecca
in a convenience store where nate says he knows she didn't kill lila but we both know who did
help me catch him which then very smart cutting to sam in bed with annalise annalise is in a cute
little nightgown and it feels like maybe they're gonna they're touching each other's faces feels
like maybe they're gonna smooch but then bonnie knocks at the door and bonnie's got the bombshell
cliffhanger where she says she just got off the phone with her contact the medical examiner they
weren't fingernails they were ant bites but there's something else that they missed in the first
autopsy Lila was six weeks pregnant no and then Annalise turns to look at Sam no why
it's so hard which I kind of forgot about I totally forgot about it yeah but the second
like there was like core memory unlocking the second like Annalise had that line about
miscarriages i was like oh shit lila was pregnant oh interesting yeah yeah oh man yeah dude wow
that was an episode that really was we had all the things we had um we had everything we have
we had an we had a pregnancy reveal yeah we had uh sex in a stall we had drunk acting yeah
insects in a water tank insects in a water tank we had a courtroom people like three lawyers
yelling at each other in a courtroom yeah not two but they had to up the ante that's right
right and sexual intimacy interspersed with decomposing uh body autopsy god yeah
so disgusting yeah yeah uh the only thing that works is if they show the body like in the tank
with like the insects like going into it's kind of like you know i just did i just did a couple
episodes on chicago med and i was watching part of it and i had to turn it off because i was like
this is so disgusting like they're showing you know like they i it's just like american television
like what they can show like it's really funny to me right that like they can't show any of the
rebecca west intimacy right but they can literally show like a dead body right right also shout out
to the makeup department for that right because that must have been makeup yeah i mean that was
really good job yeah um but pretty gnarly not not for me no thanks yeah yeah um no it's definitely
makeup it wasn't a real dead body okay you were clarifying that those were the two options yeah
exactly that's it um what'd you think of the episode yeah i thought it was great i thought
interesting i mean i feel like the cliffhanger is not as i mean it is a bombshell it's not as
bombshell as some of the other bombshells that we've seen so far at least to me um but it's
effective and it's great and it makes sense you gotta you can't every single time always be the
same level you know what i mean yeah but yeah yeah i really i really liked it yeah i think too
i don't know there seemed like i i said this last time but like i like the way that i think that we
as cast members are like playing off each other especially with like the zingers and like one
liners like i think that that is definitely reflective of like oh we're like friends in
real life at this point yeah you know like we've spent like quite a lot of time now together totally
and i think we're even just getting like the rhythm of like acting with someone like that is
such a treat on this show is that like we like i know how to act opposite you more than you know
anyone i've worked with in the last five years just because like we did the amount of time you
and i have acted together it's like and that's a real thing like there's like a shorthand that
gets developed where i can anticipate like a little bit what you're going to do in a scene
and vice versa yeah which is then i think why it's so fun to be in scenes with you or like in
the thirsty whale scene where like you are keeping alfie and i on our toes where you're like throwing
up all this improv you know clowny stuff yeah it'd also be interesting to see what even though
we have the rhythm if we played different characters opposite each other how it might
be different or similar you know what i mean in terms of what is intrinsic to how we play things
as jack and matt versus the additions of like how we played those characters you know yeah yeah
totally yeah as i'm boring to you just yawned so i just didn't hear anything you said i just
completely checked out yeah i'm just watching the snow i'm like this boring asshole
no i was actually it made me think of like someone on reddit asked like
who is the most similar to their character which i hate those questions hate is a strong word but
like you know i i think that those questions are like they're they're hard to answer because like
for a tv show like this like we we have lived in the characters so much that like it's hard to
disassociate them from like there's so much in connor that is jack yeah right totally at the
same time like connor is a fictional character that like me and the writers and pete like created
right you know right um there's also a difference between like physicality yeah right like what what
you can see of someone in terms of gestures versus like personality traits you know that
sort of thing yeah but then like i do remember too at times on the show being frustrated at like
where they would like take like something jack would say or do and like write it in for connor
and i'd be like don't do that like that's me yeah you know like i don't want that to be connor i
want them to be separate but it is hard where like yeah you're working on a show for so long
like they want to pull things from like your life if they can right um i remember i remember someone
telling me some someone very seasoned on the on the crew one of the department heads was like you
should never tell a writer anything about your personal life because they will use it um which
i thought was really funny advice yeah um from someone that had like been in the game for you
know 30 plus years right and to your point yeah like physicality the way we move yeah or like
yeah i don't know like i think yeah asher like i'm i'm a generally expressive person physically
expressive person and asher is and a lot of times the characters that i tend to play are so in that
way there's similarity you know what i mean a goofiness a silliness you know playfulness that
sort of thing yeah the one that really uh i thought was funny was like people in the red
comments were like i bet asia's the closest to michaela which i think is absolutely wrong yeah
you know like i think asia's actually nothing yeah like michaela totally yeah but to say who's
the closest like i don't i couldn't even pick like i i think i'm probably as anxious as connor
like maybe that's the closest maybe that's the closest out of all of us yeah yeah but um
yeah i don't know i i uh i like the questions though i want more you get and also you can
we have a we have a good question i want to save for next episode but there have been some
some good questions coming into the the listener mailbox which you can email how we got away with
murder at gmail just adding echo yeah obscuring the information
just totally obscuring we can add echo in post probably yeah james can do that thanks james
um how we got away with murder
oh my god um but yeah rebecca sent us a great question but it it's a it's a lengthy one so i
want to um i want to give it its proper space when we have more time on the next episode rebecca
sutter rebecca sutter part of me like was like oh man i wonder where like is there is that point
where west is like you could do anything you could go you could go to college you could go to law
school event and i was like man i wonder where rebecca's up to and i forgot oh my god yeah
spoiler yes something happens um cool man great i love it we did i love it i love it and i love you
i love it i love you too and i hope that we don't get the 24 inches of snow potentially
have you looked outside it's it's coming down i have but i haven't looked at the ground yet
it's coming down we're yelling snowfall
i don't know this song at all i'm bastardizing uh it doesn't matter we'll cut it um yeah the
snow's coming down it that if i at any point felt distracted it's because i was just looking out i
can't do it i can't turns out i can't podcast while there's a blizzard happening out my window
because i'm just gonna look at the blizzard yeah that's fair i get it um okay cool well next week
is a good one it is i mean speaking of like who's most like their character i think a more
interesting question is maybe who's the least like their character and i think we we potentially
answer that uh yeah next week's episode with charlie weber charlie weber who played frank
delfino delfino frank fish town of fish town of fish town we should have done the whole episode
and the voices yeah i know a place yeah it's got a shout ahead a great philly cheese steak
yeah chowderhead i love chowderhead yeah uh we talked to charlie it's a great episode i think
that like i mean we really get into like you know dare i say his method acting yeah absolutely um
and he went far yeah how far he went in order to play frank who is quite different than
charlie in real life right i don't know that any of the rest of us traveled across the country
multiple times in order to get into character more will be revealed on that but yeah more will
be revealed it is fun though like when you are an actor and you can write off you know business
expenses around character development right right um i'm sure he was expensing all those trips maybe
irs but like i've i maybe have gone like backpacking and been like this is character
research for connor walsh right i have to i have to go to yosemite right because connor definitely
went to yosemite on his you know outward bound trip that's right anyway yeah so tune in next
week for a really honestly just a really great conversation with charlie weber uh we're really
grateful he came on we answer a lot of questions i think that were brought up on the reddit thread
and yeah as a reminder as always you can ask us questions at how we got away with murder

single one of you even you even that person that said i look tired right even you we love you even
