How We Got Away with Murder - 112: She's a Murderder
Episode Date: June 4, 2026One host is sneezing through allergy season, the other just wrapped a family visit, and Sam's remains have been found in a landfill, so let's get into it. Annalise is clinging to her mob case... for dear life, Hannah is on a mission, and Asher finally gets brought into the fold. Also, Matt is just now finding out that Bonnie is a lawyer. Just now. On the podcast, Matt and Jack dig into the classroom becoming a masterclass in 5th amendment rights for the Keating 4, the great Connor and Asher energy this episode, the bumps (foliage in winter, murder discussed openly, Laurel using a burner phone out in the wild), and the behind the scenes of how the courtroom set works. Plus spit buckets and how eating scenes actually get filmed. They try to work out the case of the week IRL (lawyers, please chime in the comments), marvel at the Annalise incest line, and get into Viola cracking everyone up trying to say a character's last name on set. Until next week! We want to hear from you! hey everyone my name is matt mccorry and i played the character asher millstone on how to get away
with murder and i'm jack fallahy and i played connor walsh on that very same tv show and this
is the how we got away with murder podcast hey podcast friend hello podcast friend how art thou
Oh, I'm okay. It's a, it's a mixed feeling sort of day. Yeah. Yeah. And the allergies have been
hard for allergies. Wanting to rend my eyes in the language of King Lear, I believe.
Sure. The itchiness of them. Yeah. Really, really good poll, the King Lear. I,
sorry to hear that. I've never experienced allergies, so I'm not familiar. It's not,
it's not great but it lasts for a short amount of time and i think because i'm wearing my mask
everywhere it's not like most of my my holes my permeable holes but my eye my ocular holes are
you know are uh yeah definitely getting inflamed how you doing i'm pretty good yeah my family was
just in town it was really nice to see them saw my brothers and my folks the fallah he's the fallah
clan and yeah i've been enjoying this like there's this big magnolia tree in my backyard that that i
was like watching bloom beautifully and then all they all fell off and that made me sad but that
such is life is that because of the change in temperature like the climate no i think that
they just i think that they flower really early in the spring and then they just like
they shed all of their petals and now it's just like a big green old tree so it's it's doing what
it's supposed to be doing right it's just early bloomers yeah yeah whereas i was a late bloomer
sure sure
and yeah i i like this this like it kind of cooled down it was like really hot for a couple days and
now it's kind of nice it's like spring jacket weather which true i you know i love a jacket
I know. I know that. I like a jacket as well. I do. Yeah. Hey, have you ever heard of the
show How to Get Away with Murder? No. Well, do you want to recap it today? Yeah. Yeah.
Let's recap it. How to get away with murder. How to get away with murder. Great. Things
are heating up in the season we are recapping today episode 12 of season one she's a murderer
it's directed by bill dalia our producing director and written by erica harrison
it aired on february 12 2015 we started shooting it on november 25th
2014 so we're about three months ahead of air airing right november which gives them a lot of
time to you know edit and reshoot if you have to i don't really remember us reshooting that often
but sometimes shows do reshoot yeah and yeah i mean there's obviously a lot that goes into post
which we should talk about at some point okay this episode we have i'm gonna i'm trying something
new where I'm going to read the guest stars at the top
of the episode so that we
give everyone their flowers.
A little experimenting, yeah.
So we have Peter
Onorati is playing Leo Lombardo.
Michael McGrady is playing
A-U-S-A Hobbs.
We have Carl
Mackinnon playing Paul Lombardo.
April Parker-Jones playing Detective
Claire Bryce. Hector Bustamante
playing Pedro Hortua.
And Marcia Gay Harden
is playing Hannah Keating.
matt hit us with the log line with sam's body found in a landfill hannah storms in demanding
answers and pushes police to search annalise's home a terrifying search for the keating four
that ultimately turns up nothing bonnie starts putting the pieces together on her own west grows
more suspicious of rebecca and a shocking arrest closes out the episode nailed it nailed it all
right and just to remind everyone we guessed the titular line you guessed hannah and i guessed
bonnie we are going to dive in and see who was right and who's a loser and who's a loser yeah
yeah yeah stay tuned to find out who's a big being within an inch of their life yeah this is how we
do it every time actually yeah we have a third party yeah this podcast is life life yeah exactly
yeah it keeps the stakes high yeah makes it feel like we're back on the show again that's right
So we jump right in and we are reminded
that Hannah believes Sam is not a murderer.
We are reminded that Wes has this Christmas card for Rudy
that he will not let go of for whatever reason.
Michaela's engagement ring is missing
and Sam Keating's remains have been found.
Ooh, boy.
We jump into Wes's apartment.
He is watching the news.
Connor is also there.
I think the crew's there.
Connor thinks Annalise is setting them up.
He, you know, says,
you don't just find body parts in a landfill.
It's a good point, honestly.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
It is a good point.
I had to think about it while I was watching.
I was like, do they just find body parts in a landfill?
I don't, I guess not.
In individual bags?
Yeah, I don't know.
Yeah, I don't know.
Like, do they have, are they screening for body parts?
Right, body detectors.
Right. They just have dogs running around landfills, like cadaver dogs.
He thinks that Annalise told the authorities where to look.
And Rebecca says, you know, this wouldn't be happening if we'd all listened to Wes, which is a fair point.
Wes doesn't think Annalise would sell them out.
And Connor hits them with this great line, we know wait lists, you suckle at the teat of our dear old professor.
Which I remember, I remember reading that in the table read and really liking that.
I thought it was a good sort of snarky line from,
from Connor.
Um,
and then Rebecca,
I think very smartly kind of level headed is like,
even if,
even if you guys were implicated in some way,
like they're going to go,
they're going to try and take down Annalise,
not you guys.
Right.
Totally.
You know,
the random lost.
She's,
she's the big fish to fry.
Yeah.
Bigger fish is tastier.
Yeah.
Yeah.
More to eat.
More to eat.
More to eat.
See,
this is the point where i want to mention one of our sponsors but i also recognize that like
our sponsors change throughout like like as we're recording this we this the sponsors that we have
this episode might in a few months be different so you know i realized we did this we we we called
out a previous sponsor once we named them in our in our just general recording and i was like oh
people are going to be like what the fuck are they talking about sometime in the future when
right it's been five years since we've had that sponsor yeah in 19 years that product no longer
even exists right um okay we go to the second scene of the show frank is driving i like seeing
frank drive yeah you know i think he i think charlie looks good driving i think he should
do car commercials yeah laurel calls him and he is like immediately aggro saying she can't be
calling him from now on they are going to be under a microscope everything they do which i think
really sets up the stakes of the show going forward and like in a way that i think is
tricky as a show to maintain this level of sort of like diesel energy where you know what i mean
yeah i mean it's kind of insane where it's like everything we do
is gonna be under scrutiny and i'm like for the rest of the show right but it kind of makes sense
doesn't it i mean what else you know what else of course totally i mean even makes me wonder if
you should be saying that over the phone right or if you should just be giving a signal of like
you know i can't talk right now i'm gonna text you later on signal or whatever the how to get
a murder equivalent of the app would be you know um yeah i was kind of curious i mean i guess at
this point in time there were encrypted messaging apps already right right yeah for sure yeah yeah
yeah yeah 100 i just felt like weird to be like on on one specific call be like we can't talk
about murder on phone calls on the phone call you know yeah yeah but i get it i didn't know
yeah totally i mean we we do cross this bridge soon and it's it is not an encrypted messaging
app because watching people text on television is not entertaining but we we do come up with
this all pretty quickly so true laurel arrives to west's apartment tells the others that frank
says they're being watched and that we because of that can't call annalise um everyone does a
really good job of building tension here by the way it's like yeah really i'm feeling the stress
of it um yeah i i actually noticed that throughout the episode where like it feels like uh we're
doing a lot of like uh tension in our body yeah yeah like everyone i don't know west does some
of that that i'll flag later in the episode that i thought was really cool of him like i feel like
elfie's such a like attention free person you know yeah so when i see tension in west i'm like
oh wow that's good acting yeah he's doing it yeah he's doing it yeah we cut from there to the cops
are knocking at the door of ak's and the police uh hannah walks up so they're both there and the
Please tell Annalise and Hannah that they found Sam's remains.
And it took them a couple days to tell them
because they needed a positive ID.
And luckily, they had his DNA on file
for the Lila Stangard case.
So I guess they didn't even need to ask Annalise about that.
Frank shows up.
He's kind of like running to the house,
I'm presumably to just be there for Annalise.
He's thinking about whether he should kill the cops and Hannah.
Yeah, exactly.
Anyway, Hannah, I mean, she goes in right here
where she has this great arrest her.
She killed him.
She tried to hide it.
She's the murderer.
Arrest her.
She's a murderer.
She killed my brother, which is the title of the episode.
Yeah, that's true.
which um saves me from being uh beaten i will be being this way into my life yeah no yeah shout
out to tony um yeah is this is the first time we learned that this is like her childhood and sam's
childhood house i'm not sure if it is if we heard it maybe once before but this is the first time
like sticks in my head i'm like yeah i think that's right okay yeah it's always it's fun like
that when you just like one like word or like you know one sentence just changes the context
sort of of things a bit you know totally there was such like pleasantness in the last episode
of like the best christmas ever you know there's the family stuff so it feels like really painful
cervical bulging whiplash you know to like go from that to like you know like her screaming like
arrest her on the you know it's like very it gives me a lot of stress it's making me wonder if if if
like some one of the recurring nightmares i have is somewhat related to like uh just the like trying
to put myself in the position of like this like keeping the secret like i hate keeping secrets
like it's oh really yeah i really hate that um it feels so stressful to me yeah yeah i i actually
think about that all the time because because of i mean i guess it was helpful in playing connor
but because of how anxious I am, I'm like, I would never be able to keep the secret of
committing a crime like this. Like I, I just look, I wouldn't be able to live with it.
Yeah. Like I would immediately go down to the place and be like, it was me. You got me.
Right. Right. Even if it wasn't you, you just throw yourself under so you don't have anxiety.
Yeah. They're like, sir, we had no leads. Right. No idea it was you. Thank you for coming in.
That's right. Same as missing. Yeah, exactly. Right. Right. Good. All right. I mean,
we go right from there to the title it's just such a good way uh to start to tee up this episode
and then from there we go to nate is calling annalise from home nate does a lot of phone
calls on this episode yeah she is walking across campus usc right yeah and yeah you suggest the
burner phone and and he suggests the burner phone i'm glad someone suggested it yeah yeah yeah also
like a crazy um like i think it's interesting that they have nate suggest it and it's not like
like frank just like handing out burners to like everyone in the crew immediately given that frank
is like you know this chameleon criminal type yeah but uh but i like it coming from nate because
it shows like he's trying to protect annalise and be helpful and right you know yeah um and we
We filmed these exteriors at USC, University of Southern California.
That's right.
The detective confronts Annalise for not looking upset, presumably, that her husband is dead.
Yes.
Which is interesting.
And AK says, you know, you're not going to arrest me because you're going to arrest me because the grief doesn't look the way you think it should.
It does feel bold that Annalise is not pretending to be upset in a specific way.
But also, yeah, I just wonder what made the writers make that decision.
Yeah.
It's a powerful move, though, too, because you're just, like, if you understand the law in a way, I guess, like, that can't be the thing.
She probably knows she's going to be a suspect regardless, you know?
I kind of was scratching my head about that throughout the entire episode.
Like, I'm really—I think it's really engaging, and it's a cool choice, and so I'm interested to see how it, like, continues to play out.
I think that they, like, often would take swings in writing like that because they knew that Viola could play anything.
Yeah.
So I wonder if there's some of that to it too, where they're like, let's do the more daring choice, you know, because Viola is going to make it work no matter what.
Right.
We'll be right back.
Now back to class.
We go from, you know, she's walking across campus to go to class.
We have Miss Chapin played by Ellen Hahn, who is getting grilled by, I guess, our substitute professor.
Yeah.
Which I thought was interesting.
I was like, do they have substitute professors in law school?
i think like you just wouldn't have class but ellen she is so funny here um and you know she's
like she was like a background artist like day player would like she'd get lines here or there
but like you you'll see as the show goes on they would give her and a couple of the other um actors
playing students more and more lines because she just always knocked them out of the park
yeah for really good stuff shout out to you ellen shout out ellen i saw her in one of the spider-man
movies and she absolutely crushed oh sick it's yeah so it seems like i guess the dean thought
that annalise given the recent news wouldn't be coming in to teach but annalise says i'm here you
are mistaken and we start to learn about the fifth amendment whatever you say to the police can and
will be used against you when in doubt shut your mouth um and this is just a great example of like
Annalise using like speaking in code where she's using like the classroom lesson as a as a vehicle
to teach the Keating for what they need to know to weather the storm yeah this this bumped a little
bit for me to use your language I've never said that word before um or I've never said it in this
context I have said you've never said bumped before yeah I've never said you've never said
bumped in your life yeah the speed the speed mounds as I call them when you're driving yeah
sure yeah um but it seems kind of bold i mean we can reasonably assume that ak will be considered
a suspect even if it's because her husband was cheating on her and then died right like that's
like something they always like yeah consider a domestic partner yeah right and then the the
yeah i mean even sure when she said she's like i bet it's the boyfriend right when it was like
about sam about how lilo is dead right right but i just feel like if the i don't know if the if any
of the law students in the classroom are going to be like you know like hmm is anything fishy here
i feel like being like oh her husband was murdered and now she's talking about like
how to not self-incriminate yourself like i don't know i mean i guess the class is how to
get away with murder before she was complicit in murder but yeah but i mean i mean the biggest
bump for me is like the mid-season finale when they take the exam and it's like it's literally
the murder night the final is is the exact uh you know is murder night where i'm like
if she gets subpoenaed and they like look at what was the oral exam it's just like oh that's
exactly what happened right i guess yeah that's true i mean this feels especially so just because
it's like literally everyone in the class knows that she's a suspect now yeah that's right yeah
that's right yeah i hear what you're saying so i don't want one person to be like hmm interesting
yeah don't talk to the police the person sitting next to connor just looking at him
you know freaking out yeah yeah exactly connor biting his nails and the kids like um i really
i also it does actually now that i think about it i feel like the other students in the class
would definitely ask the the kidding for about it too right because they'd be like whoa
fucking the guy that is in the house that you're always in yeah oh dead i mean this would be this
would be like the biggest story on campus right right you know yeah yeah interesting so we i i i
always wondered about that we're like obviously it's hard with just like the number of you know
we had a lot of series regulars on the show there were like 12 of us or something so it was always
hard to bring in like other students but we do see that in later seasons yeah where we start to see
like the, the campus dynamic build out a little bit more, but it's like, they have so many balls
in the air that it's like, how are they going to bring in like, you know, a student to question
them. Right. Yeah. Yeah. Anyway, we cut from there to Bonnie crying in the kitchen. She's
dropped the glass. And at first I was like, Oh, don't cry. You don't need to cry over spilled
milk but that of course is not why she's crying she is she is upset you know frank comes in and
she's really upset that no one called bonnie to tell her about sam she had to see it on the news
which is so fucked up and she's worried that annalise doesn't trust her anymore and frank
is pretty like uh i don't know cold about how he is giving her care like he does not he doesn't care
yeah and the definition of cold comfort cold comfort and basically says you know stop crying
or she'll fire you again if she sees you like this which that feels like suspicious too when
he's just like telling bonnie that she shouldn't care that sam is dead like to me that feels like
a little suspicious yeah yeah exactly and like i still don't know what frank and bonnie's
relationship is right you know what i mean like i asked a couple episodes i was like are they like
getting beers after work and like the way that he cares for laurel later in this episode versus
not caring at all about presumably someone he's worked with for a very long time is yeah is
interesting to me totally anyway annalise comes back the police are posted outside you know she's
pissed off that the police are outside and they're they of course are saying that they're protecting
you know them from press and looky looky lose uh she tells frank to take care of that and then
bonnie tells annalise that leo lombardo their client maybe doesn't want to work with annalise
given the recent news and then we immediately cut to a very cool exterior uh shipping container
cargo ship and i yeah i'm like i was questioning i'm like i wonder where we buy these
I wonder what this is from. We immediately go into sort of like this, you know, shipping dock
warehouse type vibe. And Annalise, she's like, real, real intense from the get go. You are not
firing me. We have Mr. Lombardo and his nephew, Paul Lombardo. And it's like pretty clear that
they're like criminals, that they're like, they're part of a, you know, maybe a crime family of
sorts. And that, uh, the nephew has been caught allegedly transporting heroin. I think heroin,
drug smuggling. I think it's heroin though. And she has this great, just like really strong plea
to have them retain her as a client.
And I kind of was scratching my head a little bit
about why she cares so much.
But I think it's a really strong argument
for Annalise's identity is her being this attorney.
And it's where she derives identity, meaning, power,
all of those things.
And, yeah, I get that, like, in this context that feels probably very out of control, she wants, like, this thing that she's very good at to remain in her control.
Yeah.
I also imagine, I mean, she's probably going to represent herself, I imagine.
But, I don't know, you know, I feel like entering into, like, an investigation like this, you want to have resources, you know?
I love that I have no idea if Annalise goes on trial.
Yeah, I know.
I can't remember at all.
And then I'm like, does she represent herself?
Or do we bring in like a cool guest star?
Right.
Have we ever seen Annalise on the stand?
I don't think so.
If we have.
If I was in a courtroom where Annalise was on the stand,
that has been fully deleted from my memory.
Right.
I love too that just like learning lines for Death of a Salesman,
I'm just like, oh, I'm just deleting.
Like, any remnants of memories were just completely cleared out.
Okay, we go from there to Hannah Keating is talking to Detective Bryce,
trying to convince the detective that Annalise is lying about the night of Sam's death
and that Nate must have helped Annalise dispose of the body.
Just catching strays, this man.
Like, Hannah doesn't know anything about Nate.
Yeah, she's just throwing it out there.
I mean, she knew about, I guess, the affair.
I guess she knows the affair, but like, it is a pretty, not a great look for Hannah Keating to just like blame it on that guy.
Yeah.
And I think it plants a seed a little bit for something that happens later too, I think.
Yes.
A hundred percent.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And the big revelation in this scene is that Hannah tells the detective that Annalise comes from a violent home.
Right.
which makes the detective pause but you know says it's obviously not enough to get a warrant
hannah then kind of like barges into their into the detective's office yeah and we see all these
very gross photos of sam's remains terrifying like terrifying horrible i still can't believe
we can show this stuff on tv i forgot about what are we doing but it's definitely seared
into my memory now like seeing his charred face with his teeth you know like gross i looked away
yeah it made me think a little differently of the keating four as well yeah i was like for sure
set his body on fire and broke oh i'm like that i i saw that and i was like oh they'd be way more
fucked up right now i was gonna say yeah i was like instead of doing all the fucking
having all the acting work that you need to they could have just shown you those photos
this is what you're this is what you've done that night yeah yeah literally like this is what you
did you monster yeah disturbing yeah totally but it is this is a good example though where it's
like we would never have seen those right like i'm not in the scene like you know what i mean
like me i'm sure we see them later at some point like maybe um but like up into this point it's
like that's art department like you know what i mean like we're not we don't see that stuff
this may be a silly question but do we know why she's so convinced it's annalise
hannah yeah no i mean like i think that they've been trying to like pepper in this like
they love each other but like annalise thinks that hannah never really loved her or like
wasn't pleased about sam marrying annalise you know like i think that there's just like some
some drama distrust lore that we're we're gonna get into i think right okay and sorry the planting
of the seed of of like annalise's home life the violent home quote unquote is also planting a
seed for like something that happens like at the very end of the episode yeah definitely and and
it's like yes a hundred percent hannah obviously as the character is just trying to weaponize like
anything she can to get them to look into annalise but it's smart writing that it then like yeah
opens some doors at the end of the episode for sure her cut says like weaponizing her psychology
like uh degree as a therapist or very deep yeah like yeah yeah for sure yeah yeah we we poppy pop
to connor breaking up the body and like the students disposing the reins yeah it definitely
made me think worse of yeah the keating uh for and when she realizes when hannah realizes that
the violent home isn't enough to tip the scales pun intended uh she says what if what if annalee's
threaten sam's life i'll testify to whatever you need me to search the house which you know is
basically implying that like she she she would like lie on the stand right right which is not
great for her credibility yeah a crazy thing to say to the detective yeah but sure sure so then
we cut to annalise's house the uh where you know she's pitching the lombardo case connor is very
surprised we're taking on new clients which is a good a good thing to call out because the audience
would also probably be like really yeah totally um and then asher you hit us with this incredible
brando impression which i love so much i mean you even did like the like him having like the
cotton balls right in his mouth when he did it and stroking the cat as like my ipad or whatever
my tablet yeah i feel i totally forgot about this it feels like for this role i got to just make use
of like every weird like impression physical movement sound effect that i could do just like
in the service of like being a court jester but it was really fun yeah you do that incredible
impression and annalise wants us to check into the chain of custody to get our italians off
and then we intercut with a montage um we immediately go to asher and frank which i love
love seeing asher and frank together that was fun and asher asher asked if frank is connected
And, you know, for you guys, it's great if I tell you, you can't tell the others.
Right.
Asher's clearly eating it all up.
Yeah.
Oh, for sure.
Yeah.
You know, he's one of those frat bros whose favorite movie is like The Godfather.
He had that on his like dorm wall.
He had like the Scarface poster.
Yeah.
So, and they're looking at like security camera footage of the docks.
And then we go back to Annalise who says the container failed a random weigh-in.
So, the question is, why did the feds pick that container out of the thousands of ships?
So then we go to Connor and Michaela. Connor, you know, is like, hey, dummy, we gotta, we gotta get your ring. Like that's gonna, you know, that's gonna screw us. Right. But Michaela thinks Connor's the dummy because you do not return to the scene of the crime. That is like rule number one of crimes. Yeah, I guess. True, true. And rule number two of crimes is don't talk about crimes at US government offices, which really bumps for me too.
Yeah, that is not adhered to by pretty much anyone.
There's multiple times this episode where it seems like simply by luck, a person happens upon the conversation at a perfect moment where they wouldn't overhear anything, but it's nothing but pure luck.
Yeah. So they are literally in the U.S. Customs and Immigration Office talking to this agent about trying to determine if the weigh-in was actually random.
And the whole time I was like, they wouldn't, they wouldn't take this meeting. Why would they, why would they let law students into like answer their questions about a, you know, ongoing investigation?
Well, I was wondering, I mean, I guess if they're, if they're like technical representatives of, of Annalise Keating, right. And the client, I could see why the question for me more was like, like, it seems like the whole premise of this case is, is based on the fact that Annalise is saying that it was, this search was not random, but does that make it a problem? Like, aren't they allowed to search anything they want to as like customers? So what is the, so what is the, what is the thing?
I think the thing is that if it wasn't random, they're trying to figure out like how they knew.
Like if it wasn't random, then it would mean that it was like a targeted search based on information.
So I think we see it later in the episode where she's like, oh, it wasn't random.
There was there was a, you know, a criminal informant.
There was a C.I.
Right.
But that's not inherently illegal.
that's inherently illegal for
customs to be doing
yeah no I don't know
yeah like I guess it's
it's entrapment
is what
she says maybe
I wonder I don't know
yeah okay
beats me
chime in the comments
if you're a lawyer
I do think it's interesting though
I mean this just shows you how little I learned about
law but like
that I like that Michaela's like so we're just to believe that this was random and the agent's like
yes right and then we're like all right right so then we go from there that dead end to Annalise
saying look at the personnel at the yard who had motive to take our client down and then Wes and
Laurel are meant to be doing that but Wes is just fixated on Rudy he's not working the case at all
he is just obsessed he is a dog with a bone um so he's clearly losing his mind right right and
there's still 600 kilos i think of heroin or something like that in the shipping container
i don't know i just don't get it yeah um laurel and west here laurel mentions pedro hortua which
which who's the person who searched the client's uh container and this immediately brought back
some hilarious memories that we'll talk about yeah okay going back for a quick moment i feel
like i feel like the equivalent of like the storage container thing is like if if in response
to sam's body being found in the garbage bags and elise's defense was like yeah but how did they find
it and like hoping that proving that that like someone was tipped off would somehow mean that
the murder wasn't the most important thing that happens you know i'm saying well i think that i
think that is how people get off for murder sometimes it's like chain of custody of evidence
like that's what they're doing right now with uh right with what's his name okay so she she's
trying to she's trying to prove that there's she has an inkling that there's like some falsifying
of something or something is is like illegal yeah like if they like if they got like a i mean i
don't i don't know enough about like shipping searches or you know whatever but like i i guess
in in the context of the episode it's like well if like the the dea or whoever it is that's like
raiding their business obtained information somehow illegally then like the warrant maybe
wouldn't be valid or you know what i mean right i guess it's just because i just don't imagine
they would need a warrant to search something i just feel like i don't know as far as i know
ordering things that have to go through customs it's like they can search whatever the fuck they
want basically um but yeah i could be wrong but yeah assuming there's like bribery or something
like that and and we do see i can't remember if it's already that this happened before but the
ausa here like who makes some comment about annalise it seems like he's saying like you know
don't dig too hard or some shit like that yeah like almost feels like a tell in a way that
probably something was, you know, a mess. Yeah. Yeah. Totally. Not above board. Yeah.
Right. We'll be right back. And we're back. So we go from Wes and Laurel to Frank and Asher.
We realized that Frank has been razzing Asher with this fake mob story. And then they see on
the security camera footage that the feds arrived before the weigh-in, which seems important. Yeah.
someone uh tip them off and then azurize is great someone better get the cheddar cheese because we
got ourselves a rat which i love and then we cut back to like this meeting with the clients it's
like in some industrial area it looks it looks like downtown la and it kind of like it did bump
a little bit for me because in the background you see like a rooftop not like a garden but like you
see like foliage on a rooftop and I'm like it's the middle of the winter I think you know but yes
we do see the foliage in in the winter often here yes we do yeah which is kind of unavoidable to
some degree but like yeah I I think as like a midwestern winter I was just like there wouldn't
be leaves on those trees like it's crazy yeah Annalise is talking to Lombardo's about the rat
he of course doesn't think there's a rat in his organization which is you know hilarious because
like the mob was famously brought down by by rats right he then makes a pass at her and has the line
chocolate and italian wine always pair well together which is a crazy crazy line and i just
like part of me was like i i would love to sit in a writer's room and like hear these pitches
you know because i buy it like i buy it coming from this character but like just knowing like
who the writers are like it's just such a funny thing to have to pitch to a room of writers to
be like what if he says this crazy line right right yeah no it's true it's also interesting
i feel like i don't know for some reason when he says you don't seem particularly upset yeah as
someone who has you know been complicit in many murders it it feels like he's seeing through her
a little bit in a different way just kind of interesting you know like yeah he's like you
know from one murderer to another yeah yeah yeah yeah it's kind of like i think it's also like
maybe why he hits on her where he's like right he's like i see you yeah yeah right for sure
we cut from there to west's apartment west is asking his landlord mr fisher played i think
beautifully by thomas w ashworth he is asking about this like you know mail forwarding for
rudy and the landlord says that wes uh tells wes that rudy was actually arrested and rebecca was
the one that called the cops which is a pretty big omission from from rebecca to west yeah we
get a different shot outside of wes's apartment block than before yeah this looks like a very
cute neighborhood yeah honestly i'm like i'd live here totally yeah i'm like all right philly yeah
I mean, I guess I did live here.
Asher did at some point.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Okay.
We're immediately in Wes and Rebecca's apartment.
I guess they just kind of live together now.
They should downsize maybe.
They shouldn't have two apartments that they're paying rent on.
Totally.
Or knock a wall down and then connect them.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Rebecca feels like Wes is just trying to catch her in a lie.
She offers to confess again.
I don't know.
I guess it's like healthy communication
but like
her offering to confess all the time
like also does feel a little
manipulative too
to me I don't know
but she is doing like very good
caretaking here where Wes is like
he's clearly spinning it out
and he's trying to get
back on the ball and says you know we'll figure that out
when it happens and then sort of catches
himself and says
if it happens
which I thought was really good writing just like very
human like a slip like that where you know yeah um and wes or wes i think elfie really pulls it
off beautifully yeah for sure yeah um it makes sense because he yeah he's freaked out enough
that he's thinking it's like a foregone conclusion totally yeah then we cut to the court hallway
walk and talk annalise is going toe-to-toe with hobbs um she's trying to get i guess the charges
thrown out or something she thinks there's like a ci but again i don't know why that would be
legal right he he's just like not taking the bait and then he basically yeah he basically
threatens her that if she you know that she's a suspect in sam's death right and it almost sounds
like he's gonna plan evidence on her it's interesting i once read that he was like gonna
be a little lenient on her if like if she doesn't you know go too deep into it like yeah yeah it's
also it's it's interesting to notice here i think that they had probably just built like this set of
hallways that allows for the walk and talk at this point right because typically before this it would
have been like a short little hallway where you get mostly static scenes but you know the also
like when a show is doing well it has a better budget then they get to build more sets and and
you know and add more production value and stuff so i feel like they had just probably built this
where it allows you to like turn a corner you know and keep going and you kind of have to say
the lines at the right place so that you can make sure that you don't run out of hallway
totally yeah for it and and obviously once they've built it they're going to be using it again
um because they paid the money for it and we see it again um yeah like i think and maybe
very soon after with bonnie and asher yeah and you see you'll see it more and more but like we
you know there would be carpenters on set as part of the crew that would often work like overnight
like finishing finishing set pieces that would then play in you know they they would also be
responding to these production drafts where they'd be like oh we need a new we need this new location
right and there'd obviously be a bunch of like coordination around those things and the carpenters
would literally build walls and what have you yeah and they'd be flown in into these and then
you'll see too where like it kind of became like a bit of a lego set where you could you could
change the court so like every court scene you see for the most part is in the same room but
they've like changed out walls and artwork and carpet and seating but it was all on the same
stage yeah and so you're i think you're right that this is the first time we see like a long
hallway and then we get more hallways as like the seasons go on because we needed you know more
real estate but those hallways also change based on like what building what federal building we're
in basically yeah for sure so we go from the hallway to the house where all of the keating
five were watching the news about sam you enter eating pizza yeah cold pizza i think from the
fridge and a little yeah which i love personally more than hot pizza i love cold pizza yeah so
good do you think that you were eating it actually because you get spit buckets on set
yeah i think i probably was taking a little bite hell yeah yeah it's cold pizza after all
i mean yeah so yeah you get like a you you if possible there's like spit buckets so that like
you can get the footage of you like taking the bite but then you can spit it out if you want
so that you're not eating like you know 19 pieces of pizza right right so sometimes you'll see
actors take absurdly small bites of like yes food or yeah or like a sip of a drink or something
like that yeah yeah or even like more common you'll just see actors pushing food around on
their plate at dinner scenes right right you know and like not eating i remember hearing a story
about parks and rec where apparently chris pratt was playing andy was spoke there was like a there's
an episode where like they're taste testing burgers for like a burger competition and i can't
remember who it was one of the other cast members in an interview said that chris pratt everyone was
using spit buckets except for chris pratt and he ate like 26 cheeseburgers or something yeah which
i thought was funny i'm thinking of like this famous famous image of like how tony soprano
eats ice cream where he's just like yeah i'm just pushing it around on the in the bowl and stuff
yeah i don't know if that's a result of the same thing or not but that's so funny yeah yeah i get
like pushed a lot of uh sopranos uh content on instagram and i saw like someone imitating like
like eating different foods as if they're tony soprano right i think we probably saw that same
video yeah worth looking into yeah annalise comes in says they're no longer pursuing the the ci
angle which to me like that felt like oh hobbs did threaten her in the hallway and it was an
effective threat right and i thought it was like a positive promise and she was like okay we're
gonna totally on that yeah cool connor kind of like pushes back and she obviously snaps at him
bonnie comes in and says that that hannah's suggesting that annalise threatened sam is
enough probable cause and the judge
granted a warrant and then
which brings Asher
in in a very cool way where
then Asher's like wait they think
you killed Sam
which then to me I was like
it's crazy that
the others didn't react
Asher if you know
Asher would be like wait why aren't you
guys surprised by this revelation why is no one
surprised that
you know sure he had pizza
to pacify that's right
Yeah. And then Annalise tells Bonnie to go challenge the warrant and not to screw it up. So then we go to, we follow Asher and Bonnie going to the judge. Asher offers to like tell Annalise to not pair them together. Let's keep it professional. They walk into court. As they walk into court, Bonnie asks Asher if he saw AK's car on Night X when he saw Connor's car. And he asked like, why do you ask? And she's like, no reason.
Yeah. And then we go into the courtroom. Hannah Keating is on the stand detailing a night, I guess, that she witnessed three years ago threatening Sam and threw a paperweight. Bonnie is not doing a great job of questioning Hannah. And Hannah Keating openly mocks her, which then gets a laugh from the court room.
Yeah.
And Asher looks like bummed or disappointed, I guess.
yeah or yeah like feeling empathy for bonnie failing yeah um also does this mean that bonnie's
a lawyer for sure yeah okay that seems like news to me matt mcgory in 2026 maybe i'm sure i knew
this before you knew that you must have known that at some point did you know that before this
scene did you remember yeah you did yeah i mean i don't think it's like i must have remembered it
but like i don't know it it it seems i i think the show presented her as as at least like a
paralegal or something like someone with legal i see knowledge right whereas that's why i'll
still i mean not not anymore but i think in the first like nine episodes i was always questioning
like what is frank's job right from so we're saying he's not a lawyer yeah yeah i mean frank
Frank's job is to commit murder.
Yeah.
He also has a personal injury law practice.
That's like an ambulance chaser.
Yeah.
That'd be so tight.
It's like 1-800-EAT-WITH-FRANK.
That's right.
That's right.
It's just him eating hoagies.
Yeah.
I'm going to take down, you know, your boss, just like I take down this hoagie.
That's right.
Frankie the Bull.
Yeah.
Frankie the Bull.
I see those ads on the New York City subway.
The spinoff is Frank Delfino.
Yeah.
it's kind of like a better Saul call,
call Saul sort of thing.
Yeah,
exactly.
We go from there to the exterior of Annalise's house.
Asher very nicely says,
you know,
Babe Ruth didn't hit a home run his first time at bat.
And the police are there raiding it.
The Keating Four are outside.
Laurel has a burner that she got from Frank,
which is cute.
And we're all talking about the murder right outside in front of everyone,
all of the authorities.
Uh,
and to your point,
hannah walks up and just narrowly misses us talking about surely by the only reason she
doesn't catch you is because she she says something to you from a distance she like calls out that's
the only reason i'm approaching yeah yes yes beware yeah yeah um and and laurel is just kind
of using the burner phone out in the wild it's just very clear that it's a burner phone it's
very clearly it's like laura's like flipping it open like close yeah even in 2015 i'm like
that's a burner phone like that is that's that's a phone for for drug dealers and criminals she
doesn't she doesn't hide it nope yeah but she feels like someone on the production side should
have been like okay now you want to hide it a little bit now that hannah's here yeah i don't
know hannah has this like reputation is everything you'll all be painted with a scarlet a for annalise
uh yeah i guess just trying to get you know she's just trying to sow chaos and and get everyone to
turn on annalise right um annalise walks up and we get this exchange i mean this this exchange i
don't even know how to get into this yeah i remember this so clearly she's like the ghetto
i don't remember this really at all i think i've blocked this out of my memory but annalise tells
her to get off the property and i was like i can stay it's my you know right to be on the sidewalk
they go back you have to say it you have to and annalise says that hannah was always obsessed
over sam her brother and then she says how's the saying go incest is best put your brother
to the test what what in on god's green earth is this you know this common saying you can often
find it at mugs and on t-shirts at gas station gift shops and rest stations gross this is so
gross yeah it's terrible like is this a saying right but then like the fact that like
hannah just stands there and takes it and doesn't react no not only that i don't think she doesn't
react i think she looks like oh annalee's got me with that yeah that's like a singer i was like
What are you doing?
Which does make me wonder, does it come back later?
Do we find something about?
I think it does, man.
Oh, really?
Oh, okay.
Yeah, I think it does.
It must.
I think it does, but that makes it even more, I don't know.
It's just the whole thing to me is just like, if anyone accused me of incest, I'd be like,
what do you mean?
Just throw up on them.
Yeah, it's so gnarly.
Yeah.
and then it's followed up by maybe even gnarlier asher saying that you know his sister's not hot
but his cousin is right it's really wild boy oh boy it's just playing a seed for the sister that
we meet um a few seasons later um played by our our mutual friend uh kellen coleman also okay i
remember that this was a moment in cold acting i kept trying to think about like what's this moment
that i remember when i see like outside by the gate but i remember this is the moment where i
feel like alfie specifically was like very stressed about the about it not being cold out about we
were talking about there's like some leaves on the bushes right beside us and he's wearing a scarf
here maybe wearing like gloves which by comparison makes hannah look so underdressed which is also
hilarious but yeah i think i'm wearing i think connor's wearing gloves too oh yeah yeah i feel
like i remember us standing there and some of you requesting additional like wardrobe like you know
i mean it was like things yeah like a month ago in new york it was like two degrees right
like it gets so cold yeah yeah yeah yeah i don't know i i always i did struggle with that a little
bit where like it did seem like a thing where people i don't know they're just like well like
if they're focused on that like it's not we have bigger fish to fry and i i was just yeah i don't
know i for whatever reason it always bumped me where i'm just like is this just a symptom of
people like us making tv shows in los angeles where people have forgotten about like weather
systems right yeah sure i don't know yeah we then go to the interior uh where the feds are raiding
they are looking around for for clues i guess we get some really cool orbital steadicam shots like
following annalise in and like circling her bonnie apologizes for blowing it uh and then a fed
finds something by the tv uh cabinet and it's the scales from the trophy yeah um the ones i lost on
my scales um yeah i was i was thinking about that yeah you in real life lost your scales because
you committed a murder with them that's right and then the feds let bonnie handle the trophy
in scales which i thought was like was interesting where i then questioned i was like are you allowed
to be in your house as it's being raided by right that's a great question not right probably not
yeah and it must it must come to fruition later that that there was the that sam was killed with
a blunt object because otherwise i feel like that would definitely be their eyes would be on that
right yeah yeah because they're at this thing at this point they're like wiping down the kitchen
knives and stuff like that yeah yeah so that yeah you're right that the report or whatever
must come later yeah which that tracking for me is a little confusing too because i'm like if they
already id'd the remains surely there would have been like a week of them like running
doing some sort of like autopsy or something sorry quick question going back for one second
we we have actors a lot of times play play like winter when it's warm like in la do we have
situations where actors are playing like the opposite where they're playing summer and it's
like winter in vancouver like they must there must be some way around that like they just don't do it
because you're not gonna have an actor wear like shorts and be freezing on set right like outdoors
i think it's weird that i haven't even thought of that before also it's kind of interesting
surely that happens i think so i feel like the risk of like the actor like shivering
and having goosebumps and even being in like physical danger would be too high
but this is also why filming in la is generally an easier place to film because you can always
do it outdoors too right yeah right anyway i don't know i was thinking like i feel like i've
been on film shoots where like they're like making rain or something i don't know that's always very
cold and like you'll be in like i don't know shorts or whatever like if it's like a summer
movie right you're like in freezing rain machines yeah that's true that's not really the same thing
as your what you're asking but i do that is a good question where are people shooting tv shows
in cold climates for warm weather climates probably not outdoors yeah but i don't know
yeah maybe like maybe vancouver or toronto even right yeah i'm gonna text some people we'll figure
it out yeah oh yeah so it's not a crime scene yet i guess so they let her take the trophy and put
the scales back on um we get a really cool sequence with this song uh homeostasis by nostalgia
it's like blasting as the feds start using like the whatever it is like the black light or uv
the yeah the black light to look for the blood splatter yeah and then the detective wants them
to check the exact spot where sam fell yeah and we get like a great poker face from annalise but
not a great one from frank like they cut to frank and i'm like frank looks a little worried right
yeah yeah it's just a cool thing where the detectives at the bottom and then she looks
up and sees annalee standing to the stairs and looking down and then seems to from that get the
idea to search the very spot that sam was killed yeah which makes you think that oh this person's
maybe very good at her job yeah totally we get the poppy pop back to sam falling we see like all the
blood splatter like we see rebecca getting choked um we're cutting back and forth with the with the
Keating for outside.
We then, you know,
get Laurel getting the text
saying they didn't find anything,
obviously using her burner phone in public.
Yes, indeed.
And all the tests are immediate.
There's no test that need to take a day
or an hour even to get results.
It's interesting.
Yeah, it's very immediate.
But yeah.
As the feds walk out,
we see Annalise looking at the floor
that they just tested.
And then we poppy pop back to a new scene
that we haven't seen before
of Annalise on sort of her hands and knees
really scrubbing that floor.
Yeah.
And then we, you know,
as Annalise is like, you know,
thinking of that memory,
Bonnie walks in, clocks Annalise
and has kind of like this suspicion growing.
We then go to the kitchen
where Bonnie's looking at Sam's,
like the report and tells Frank that,
yeah, I guess you're right.
It must have just dropped
and that he died from blunt force trauma to the head,
something metal or steel.
Frank's deflecting.
Yeah, seems like great information they'd want to have
before doing the search of the house.
Yeah.
Yeah, 100%.
Bonnie points out that they also found
carpet fibers and wood debris.
We then cut to the office
where Connor and Michaela are crashing out about the report,
saying that it'll obviously lead back to them.
Laurel's telling them to shut the fuck up.
Connor, I think, is asking the question that we all are.
It's like, her husband just got murdered.
She should be grieving,
which then prompts Annalise to appear
and say, Mr. Walsh, in my office.
And then this cuts into the one-on-one scene,
which we've talked about.
Those always felt like big opportunities,
I think, as an actor,
to just get that time with Viola.
You'll notice watching the show,
they do give scenes with Viola
a little bit more air to breathe.
and like it's it's usually when the show slows down a little bit so you get to like act in a
different way this one's for the real this one's for the real yeah exactly i remember this uh too
because like i was i remember being at the desk and playing with my hands and like kind of like
wringing my hands and like picking at my nail beds and like just doing some like anxious hand
acting and bill dalia our director really liked it and so he he brought in one of the cameras
to shoot like an insert of just my hands right um and you don't see any of that here like it you
know doesn't it doesn't end up making the cut but you do see it as i exit the office where i'm like
tugging at my sweater sleeves and like you know playing with my hands quite a bit yeah you did a
really great job here um thanks yeah and and i think even though you don't see the hand acting
it informs like the physicality and and just your performance right like it gives you something to
do i think that's like it's yeah i think i imagine it probably wouldn't have been the same without
you doing that even though it's not even visible you know thanks yeah yeah no i think it's a good
scene too of just like annalise like trying to assure connor and saying that you know she picked
him because she saw herself in him like it's it's definitely i think manipulative which we find out
later but like it it i think comes as some comfort to connor in this moment and basically her saying
like you know we're both worriers but you can stop worrying because i'm i'm your only option here
yeah i mean she makes a great argument which also makes sense because she's a great fucking attorney
yeah so yeah we cut from as we as i walk out as we walk out and rejoin the king five laurel has
found a lead in pedro hortua which we're gonna get to in a second nate nate phone call nate says
that they are testing the soil and foliage and he will let her know um she asks if he thinks that
she did it which he responds with what is it you say about your clients never ask them if they did
it and i'm like oh okay it's interesting i think that this for me is the first this episode is the
first time where i actually see like love between them you know um like showing up for each other
and like you know supportive you know not not healthy but like sure like they are supporting
one another yeah through this anyway he he then also affirms i think this feeling i had at the
beginning with like the the case where he's like i get it if you stop working sam wins go kick some
ass right and then we go to court where she's gonna kick some ass where pedro hortua is on
the stand and annalise is grilling him about how he chose the container for weighing and boy oh boy
did viola have a hard time yes saying his last name was a was a challenge to yeah to to say it
lightly it's funny because you never know when you watch it no you just you wouldn't know but
behind the scenes i feel like she kept saying like portua or two uh yeah like we were all dying
laughing we were dying dying laughing because she would like you know she has so much to do in these
court scenes and like it almost to the point of like when i was remembering how we were just like
all losing our shit yeah like like truly laughing at davis yeah yeah like you know i like think
about all of the interviews where people are like what was it like watching Viola just act and I'm
like honestly like sometimes pretty funny right and like seeing how human she is in like just not
being able to pronounce this last name for whatever you know just like phonetically or rhythmically
like in the dialogue was just difficult for her but yeah you would never notice it from the
performance obviously I was also thinking about it like why didn't they just change the name
right right I guess it would have taken a while maybe to get like clearance because you do have
like clear names and all that it was also said by this point i mean i guess i don't know when
we shot this relative to oh that's a good point yeah that's a good point we probably already shot
and established that this was the name of this person and then viola was just stuck like having
to pronounce hortua i can't now i don't even know pedro hortua hortua yeah hortua and no it's not
that one no i know but i'm saying i'm trying to remember how she was saying hortua was one of them
yeah yeah and then she'd get like pretend mad at us which sometimes she would somewhat maybe
somewhat mad also she probably was a little yeah probably that's really true yeah which is fair
yeah um but it was yeah really fond memory really really liked that yeah when that one has that one
has not been deleted from my memory files and i hope it never is it's a special folder yeah exactly
anyways she's grilling him
and he basically says
he was instructed
he was promised
a green card
for himself
and his wife
if he chose
Mr. Lombardo's container
that's
crazy
and then she asks
is the man in this courtroom
right now
and
he points to
A-U-S-A
off
and then
Annalise just goes off
you know
about
she just goes
she just goes
you know
she's swinging for the fences here i also really liked as we leave court there's like all these
italian wise guys that walk out and i'm like i'm like i didn't really notice them in like in the
court but they get kind of like a special as they're like walking out and they're like you
know they got like their toothpick right there's the one guy yeah with the with the one specific
hair that looks like paulie walnuts right from like uh and stuff yeah totally we also the exterior
of this scene was where we shot the pilot the courtroom of the pilot um like where we're all
standing and watching after annalise wins her first case and and michaela says i want to be her
oh yeah yeah which is interesting too yeah takes me back um we go into the hallway where hobs is
there and they have this back and forth and she she ends it with you're the one dumb enough to
mess with the mob which i thought was great and then we go to laurel outside of annelise's she's
waiting for frank and she breaks down and it's really beautiful like i think it's really great
work from carla and and uh charlie and she has this great like just because i'm upset doesn't
mean i need you to touch me and he's like can i then just like comfort you by standing here yeah
which felt like
I could see that
in like
the like
cute moment
reels
of like
Shondaland
characters
you know what I mean
like it feels very
very warm
television writing
yeah
that I liked
seems
we go to Annalise
watching the news
saying that it's
the foliage sample
soil samples
have pinpointed
to a specific area
and then Bonnie
comes in and drops
the trophy
on Annalise's desk
and confronts her
about the report
she knows what's up she she pieced it all together we poppy pop back to night x where
bonnie walks in after leaving asher's and she realizes the rug is gone she's a smart cookie
and put enough context clues together to figure out what has happened she's a lawyer as we know
she's a lawyer as we all know we all have known this whole time and she basically says you're
not going to get away with this aka not if you keep uh avoiding the police and then throws the
the youngsters under the bus
said you didn't do this
they did
don't let them ruin you
right
which seems like she's suggesting
that she give up
thick eating for
100%
yeah
100%
which also like
at this point I'm like
can she
like
there's literally four of them
yeah
who can
like
they don't even need to like
lie
like they can all just like
tell the same version
of what happened
to the police separately
and
it will all implicate
Annalise as
helping
cover up the
you know
being an accessory to murder right but maybe maybe that's maybe you know she'd probably get a better
deal right going to the police and i think this maybe happens later isn't this like the end of
the isn't the end of the show about this i don't know i have no idea we have no idea how the show
ends oh my god okay well let's stay tuned yeah i think that i think we get i think we cross this
bridge eventually right um all right we go from there to annalee's drinking alone poppy pop back
to her promising the students that she'd protect them she then picks up her burner phone and calls
someone and says i need you right now yeah uh we then go to knock knock knock it's the next day
the detective is there and says they found evidence in the woods annalee says okay i'm ready to talk
let me get my coat in this moment it's interesting there's like when they're at the door it looks
like there's like a couple flecks of like snow but and and but it must not be it must be like i
don't know if it's like pollen in la or something like that but i thought it was interesting that
you see that and then you're like oh that would be an easy effect to add and then i thought because
she gets says let me get my coat that they're trying to do something with that um i don't know
and then i also thought it's funny that we never see the snow throughout the philly winter either
right well we we tried to put snow in once and it all melted really yeah we'll talk about that
once we get there but in a future season i think production spent a deal of money to create fake
snow and then the temperature unexpectedly rose in the day and we if my memory serves
all this fake snow
melted
we then go to
Annalise being questioned
on camera
uh
then we go to Wes's apartment
they're waiting to find out
what's happening
cause I guess
oh
because of the
evid
because of
the new evidence
I don't know why
what they're waiting for
well Rebecca
but Rebecca has a friend
with a cop brother
who says that they found
a ring in the woods
so I guess they're like
they're waiting for like
the police to come
barging in
yeah
I suppose
yeah
And they weren't there during the search,
the search of the house and stuff either.
The students, the Keating Four.
Yeah, they were.
They were outside.
What do you mean?
Oh, right.
But they weren't inside.
No, they weren't inside.
So I guess, yeah.
I mean, yeah.
Never mind.
I think the new information
that they pinpointed it to the woods
and then this even newer information
from Rebecca saying they found a ring
is them waiting to be arrested.
Michaela starts having a panic attack,
which really great work by Asia.
Then we cut back to the police
and the ring in question is not Michaela's ring.
That was a red herring.
Thank God.
It's actually Sam's ring,
which Wes gave to Annalise.
And she, we then see,
gave it to Frank to plant.
And he also went and lifted a fingerprint
off a glass to put on the ring.
Mm-hmm.
Whoo!
and we can't really tell
like you know where
what apartment he's broken into and like
you know what
print he's lifting
and then we reveal
that it is in fact
Nate's house and that
we get the next the next
morning and Nate is placed under
arrest for the murder of he gets fucked again
he gets absolutely
fucking t-boned
to this poor man yeah
um he's bored man he lost his job and then gets arrested for murder so it happens when you become
a cop um but the uh my i actually the the redirector on the ring like really i was so
stressed thinking it was michaela's ring i'm like oh well everyone's everyone's fucked like
we're fucked it's funny because i know that you know everyone's not going to jail generally i
think but right yeah i was just like oh shit it's over it's over yeah nope uh also i had this like
image of like if frank frank breaking into nate's apartment and part of me wanted nate to like wake
up and then them to fight sure it'd be such a crazy fight sure you know just like trying to
throw charlie across you know and then charlie like breaking a bottle and like trying to be so
good there is like i think there's like one fight scene or there's at least one fight scene but yeah
our show was not exactly that kind of show but that would be really that really would be fun
yeah um so we then are we're then at the police station where hannah keating just
conveniently is there she hangs out there yeah she hangs out at the police station
as nate is being brought in to be processed uh annalise is behind him hannah just spits some
venom at annalise you know being like maybe you didn't know that he did this but he did this for
you like i don't know why she's like backtracking on this idea right she would just still think that
that annalise did it right right anyway um we then cut to the keating four watching the news
and i love this exchange where connor says she did this annalise did this laurel is like but
how did she do this? And then Michaela asks, does it matter? She's doing what she said she'd do.
She's taking care of us, which I think just sets up the question. We know that she did this,
but how did she do it? And does it matter? What are the ramifications for the students going
forward of her throwing an innocent man under the bus? Yeah. Also, then it made me question,
like do they feel guilty about that going forward like i don't really remember that but right you
know do they like lose sleep over whatever happens to nate right i don't know that is interesting
and then we end the episode with annalee's going home getting into bed with her full makeup wig
and clothes uh and she is crying and she makes a phone call and she says mama i need you mama
so good so good this is a crazy episode oh my god this episode's nuts the ring
kayla's ring i thought oh no
yeah i feel emotionally exhausted after just yeah yeah it's pretty good i think that uh
i think we need some questions from from the listeners because it's we're approaching the
end of the season and i think it'll be important to have like any burning questions about season
one right i think uh we need to start getting them now to process them yeah um because i already
have like like my mind swimming having filmed it yeah and like been a part of the show so i'm sure
that people have yeah a lot of questions as we're nearing the the close of season one totally so
definitely email us at how we got away with murder at gmail yeah how we got away with murder at gmail
and then next episode is mama's here now who do you think said that oh i think i know who said
that one miss cicely tyson wow yes yeah yeah yeah yeah okay i was gonna try to remember the
character's name um i was gonna say anime but that's uh that's violist that's um at least his
name. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know. Um, okay. You're going to say Cicely Tyson, who you just spoiled
is playing. Um, I'm going to say, uh, I'm going to say Asher mama's here. Yeah. Frank's mom,
the meatball recipe. Uh, mama's here to have Frank's mom. Yeah. Well, this was a good one.
I liked it a lot.
Yeah.
It really moved.
I think it's set.
I think it's teeing us up for a crazy,
you know,
it is end of the season.
