Today's episode is from a Wikipedia article titled Ram 1500D. The RAM-1500 DT is the fifth generation of the RAM pickup, manufactured by the RAM Trucks Division of Stalantis.

The fifth generation RAM was introduced in January 2018 at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan, as a 2019 model year. Ram 1500 trucks are produced at the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant in Sterling Heights, Michigan, United States. The fourth generation DS continued to be produced through the 2024 model year and was sold alongside the fifth generation as a lower-priced option, dubbed Classic. The RAM-1500 now features the RAM lettering.

This was only available on the higher trim levels of the previous generation. A vented sport hood is available on select trim levels. In addition, a newly redesigned RAM. head logo is on the tailgate, as well as the steering wheel. Full LED headlamps are available as an option on most trim levels, although most models also feature LED daytime running lights, DRLs. Either black or chrome front and rear bumpers, side mirrors, and door and tailgate handles,

as well as black or chrome front grills, with unique designs for each trim level are available. The wheel options go by 18 inch, 20 inch, or 22 inch aluminum alloy wheels, styled steel for base tradesman models, depending on the trim level selected. Like Ford GM, especially trucks, and unlike all prior generations, this marks the first time six slug patterns are now used, since the first and second generation Dakota mid-sized truck. The RAM-1500 is available with two different cab configurations,

either a four-door quad cab, an extended cab with three-quarter-sized front-hinged doors in the rear, with a standard-length bed, or a four-door crew cab with either a short bed or a standard bed. A two-door regular cab model is no longer available due to load. due to low demand. The RAM-1500 is available in tradesmen, HFE, high fuel efficiency, Big Horn, Rebel, Laramie, Laramie Longhorn, and Laramie limited trim levels. Each trim level of the RAM-1500 features its own interior design theme,

with different materials and color schemes used throughout. Ram 1500 interior designers used different types of hammers, as inspiration for interior designs. The tradesman trim level is the basic entry trim level of the RAM 1500. Its design is more basic than other trim levels, with halogen headlamps, incandescent tail lamps, and a black plastic grill. The interior contains vinyl or cloth seeds

and the U-Connect-3-5-0BT radio. The HFE, high fuel efficiency trim level, is configured to squeeze out as much fuel efficiency as possible from the RAM-1500. The HFE is only available with the V6 engine with the E-Torc hybrid system, except with the 2021-2020 models, which were also available with the Eco-Diesel. The most economical rear axle ratio, 20-inch wheels with low rolling resistance tires, a smaller 23-US gallon fuel tank, and in a 4x2 configuration, reducing weight. More up-level than the tradesman, the Big Horn Lone Star, comes standard with everything on the tradesman, plus fog lights, chrome grill, bumpers, and door handles. as well as a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

The larger U-Connect 4 8.4 inch touchscreen also becomes available, either with or without navigation. The Lone Star, similar to Texas Edition, trucks, offered by other manufacturers, is mainly identical to the Bighorn, but only sold exclusively in the state of Texas, whereas the Bighorn is sold in all other states and in Canada. The Lone Star Silver comes with a chrome luxury grill, 20-inch aluminum wheels, and sidesteps.

The Big Horn Lone Star replaces the previous generation's SLT trim. With this special addition comes the UConnect 4 8.4 touchscreen, 7-inch digital cluster display, dual zone climate control, and heated front seats and steering wheel. The off-road-oriented trim level, the Rebel, offers an electronic locking rear differential, 33-inch tires, and toe hooks. It comes standard with the UConnect 3, 5.0.

BT radio, but can be upgraded to the U-Connect 4 8.4 inch touchscreen. The Laramie is the mid-level trim of the RAM-1500. It features LED headlamps and tail lamps as standard, heated and ventilated leather seeds, a standard U-Connect 4 8.4 inch touchscreen, 7-inch digital cluster display, and a memory feature. The U-Connect 4C 12-inch touchscreen is available. An upgrade from the Laramie, the Laramie Longhorn, features more luxurious features such as standard navigation, LED projector headlamps, chrome side steps, and genuine wood and leather in the interior. The U-Connect 4C. 12-inch touchscreen is optional. The limited trim level is the most luxurious model of the RAM-1500 lineup.

The U-Connect 4C 12-inch touchscreen is standard, as well as safety features such as blind spot monitoring, rear cross path detection, and trailer detection, and a four-corner air suspension. A 19-speaker Harmon Cardin audio system is available. The sport is a Canadian-only trim level that offers a sportier look in addition to a standard U-Connect 4 8.4-inch touchscreen, 7-inch digital cluster display, and heated front seats. Although the package is not available in the United States, buyers in the U.S. market can still order styling elements from the Canadian sport trim level on some RAM-500 trim levels. The only engine choice in this trim is the 5.7L hemi.

The base engine for almost all RAM 1500 trims is a 3.6-liter Chrysler Penda star, a V6 engine, carried over from the fourth generation RAM pickup, which produces 305 horsepower and 269 pound force feet of torque. However, for the fifth generation, the engine is now equipped with the E-tork belted alternator starter system, a type of mild hybrid. A motor generator is attached to the engine serpentine belt adding torque, cranking the engine in a start-stop system, or generating electricity with regenerative braking

by acting as a type of engine brake. The motor generator is built by Continental. Energy is stored in 0.43 kilowatts, 48-volt lithium-ion battery mounted inside the passenger cap, on the rear wall between seeds and pickup bed. For the 2019 through 2024 model years, an upgrade is available to the 5.7-liter Chrysler Hemmy, a V8 engine, which produces 395 horsepower

and 410-pound force feed of torque. The engine is equipped with variable cam timing and a multi-displacement system, which shuts down four of the engines 8-7. cylinders when operating between 1,000 and 3,000 RPM to save fuel. The Hemi V8 is also available, mandatory for the 2023 and 2024 model years, with slightly more powerful e-tork system with a motor generator supplied by Magneti Morelli. The engine was discontinued after the 2024 model year because it could not be modified

to meet tougher automotive emission standards. For the 2019 through 2023 model years, an upgrade is available to the 3.0-liter Eco-Diesel, a turbocharged diesel V6 engine, which produces 260 horsepower and 480-pound force feet of torque. The engine was discontinued during the 2023 model year. Starting with the 2025 model year, an upgrade is available to the 3.0-Lor Stalanta's Hurricane, a twin turbo straight-six engine, which in its standard output configuration produces 420 horsepower and 469 pound force feet of torque. A high output configuration produces 540 horsepower and 521 pound force feet of torque.

The frame and body structures feature 98 and 54% high-strength low alloy steel respectively. Innovative high-strength steels allow automotive components to be made thinner and thereby lighter. The RAM-1500 reduced its weight by nearly 120 pounds from the chassis. The frame alone accounts for 100 pounds of weight savings. The truck has lost around 225 pounds overall when compared to the prior generation. Aluminum is used for the hood, tailgate, engine mounts, and lower control arms. A properly equipped RAM-1500 can tow up to 12,750 pounds, and has a payload of up to 2,300 pounds. The RAM-1500 also features the previously available adaptive, multi-level air suspension system,

But the system now features additional modes for off-road use, as well as a mode that lowers a vehicle by two inches to allow for easier entry and exit. The latter feature can be activated via a button on the keyless entry key fob. In addition, the RAM-1500 features active front grille shutters, which are now driver-adjustable, as well as a lower drag coefficient for improved aerodynamic performance. Also new for the RAM-1500 is a new 4-4 off-road package, which includes a factory-equipped suspension lift, off-road tires, and enhanced off-road performance and handling. It is available on all trim levels when equipped with 4-4.

Frequency response damping, FRD, shock absorbers, are standard, allowing for more aggressive damping during cornering and braking. A toggle switch in the lower portion of the dashboard control parking sensor activation. The RAM-1500 gets blind spot monitoring that automatically extends down the length of a trailer when it is attached. The track comes with a 360-degree surround-view camera system, providing a bird's eye view of the vehicle via four cameras. It can park perpendicular and parallel by its own, by controlling steering, but braking and gear shift are still responsibly controlled by the driver.

The RAM-1500 offers a choice of four different in-car entertainment systems dependent upon the trim-level chosen. The base UConnect 3 5.0 BT system, standard on Big Horn, Lone Star, and optional on tradesmen, includes a 5-inch touchscreen display, AM FM radio, Bluetooth with hands-free calling, and wireless audio streaming, USB and auxiliary inputs, a rear-view backup camera display, and integrated digital compass. Serious X-Im satellite radio can be added as an option. The mid-level U-Connect 4 8.4 system, standard on Rebel, Laramie, and optional on Big Horn Lone Star, adds the following features to the UConnect 3, 5.0 BT system,

an 8.4 inch touchscreen display, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto integration, and a USBC input that supports USB fast charging. The Premium UConnect 4C 8.4 system, standard on Laramie Longhorn, and optional on Big Horn Lone Star, Rebel, and Laramie, adds the following features to the mid-level UConnect 4, 8.4 system. GPS navigation, HD Radio, and U-Connect Guardian services,

powered by a Sirius XM, which provides subscription-based communications, in-vehicle security, emergency services, and remote diagnostic systems. Atop of the line, UConnect 4C-12.0 system, standard unlimited and optional on all models, except the base tradesman, has the following features to the premium UConnect 4C8.4 system, 12-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen display, capable of operating multiple functions at the same time, and a multi-angle camera system. In addition to the four different touchscreen systems available,

there are three different audio systems available. The base six-speaker audio system, standard on tradesmen, big horn, Lone Star, and Rebel, includes speakers mounted in all four doors the vehicle. It is not available with the UConnect 4C12.0 system. The mid-level Alpine Electronics 10-speaker premium audio system, standard on Laramie and Laramie Longhorn, and available on the Big Horn Lone Star, and Rebel, adds the following features to the base audio system, a 506 watt digital amplifier, an underseat mounted subwifer, a center instrument panel mounted speaker,

and speakers mounted in the rear headliner of the truck. An alpine electronics emblem appears on the center instrument panel mounted speaker. It requires either the UConnect 4 8.4 or UConnect 4C 8.4 infotainment systems. The top of the line, Harmon Cardin 19-speaker premium audio system, standard unlimited and optional on Laramie Longhorn, has the following features to the mid-level audio system, a 900-watt digital amplifier, small speakers to the upper portion of both front doors,

and aluminum speaker grills that bear the Harmon-Carden emblem. It requires that you connect 4C12. For the 2022 model year, RAM equipped most of its trucks with an all-new U-connect-5 infotainment suite, available in 5-inch, 8.4-inch, and 12-inch sizes, which came as standard equipment on most trim levels. The U-Connect 5 infotainment suite, powered by Android, added a built-in virtual assistant and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Smartphone integration, in addition to their wired counterparts, as well as enhanced functionality and user customizability.

Base models will still receive the previous UConnect 3, 5.0 BT Radio, as standard equipment, though these models can also be upgraded to the 8.4-inch UConnect-5 system. The center console can be configured in 12 different ways. An available panoramic sunroof features 10 square feet of area. The RAM's newly redesigned interior promises increased head and legroom, and the most genuine leather trim used in any full-sized truck. Most manufacturers use vinyl or plastic on their full-sized trucks when equipped with a leather-trimmed interior. In addition, the limited includes additional sticks.

stitched leather trimmed dashboard surfaces and door panel trim, and is the most luxurious full-size pickup interior available in its class. Like the previous generation RAM, the all-new RAM uses genuine wood trim throughout their interiors. The available 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system is the largest touchscreen installed in a full-sized truck, and the available 900 watt 19 speaker Harmon Cardin Premium Audio System is the highest quality factory premium audio system available on any full-size truck.

A reconfigurable TFT LCD full-color instrument cluster is also available on most trim levels. For the 2022 model year, Stilantis has announced a partnership with product red, and each brand is released a red-branded vehicle. For 2022, RAM has offered a red edition, 1500, direct. from the top of the line limited trim level. Special features on the Red Edition 1500 included special exterior badging, black finished wheels, and unique interior details. Proceeds from each Red Edition 1500 sold were donated to the Product Red Foundation.

In addition, Ram has released a line of special edition Red theme merchandise, including coolers, plaid shirts, work gloves, and t-shirts. The RAM-1500 is built at the Sterling Heights Assembly planned in Sterling Heights, Michigan. The company retooled the plan to handle the RAM-1500. Previously, the plant produced the Chrysler 200, which ended production after the 2017 model year. For the Australian market, Ram Trucks Australia is responsible for converting the trucks, to right-hand drive. The 2022 RAM was tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, I-IHS,

and the top trim of the crew cab version received a top safety pick award. The RAM pickup, marketed as the Dodge Ram until 2010, when ram trucks was spun off from Dodge, is a full-size pickup truck, manufactured by Stolanda's North America, formerly Chrysler Group LLC, and FCA U.S. LLC, and marketed from 2010 onwards under the Ram Trucks brand. The current 5th Generation RAM debuted at the 2018 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan in January of that year. The name RAM was first used in 1981 model year Dodge trucks in October 1980, following the retiring and rebadging of the Dodge D-Series pickup trucks, as well as B-series vans, though the company had used a Rams Head hood ornament on some trucks

as early as 1933. Ram trucks have been named Motor Trend Magazine's truck of the year eight times. The second generation RAM won the award in 1994. The third generation RAM Heavy Duty won the award in 2003, the 4th Generation Ram Heavy Duty won in 2010, and the 4th Generation Ram 1500, won in 2013 and 2014, and the current 5th Generation Ram pickup became the first truck in history to win the award three times, winning in 2019, 2020, and 2021. The first generation Dodge Ram trucks and vans introduced in October 1980, feature a ram hood ornament first used on Dodge vehicles from 1932 until 1954. Not all of the first-generation trucks have this ornament, and is most commonly seen on four-wheel drive models. Dodge kept the previous generation's model designations, D or RAM, indicate two-wheel drive,

while W or Power Ram indicate four-wheel drive. Just like Ford's F-series, Dodge used 150 to indicate a half-ton truck, 250 for a three-quarter-ton truck, and 350 for a one-ton truck. The truck models were offered in standard cab, club, extended cab, and crew cab configurations. They also were offered along with 6.5 foot and 8 foot bed length and utiline and swept line-style boxes along with standard boxes. Externally, the first-generation Rams were facelifted versions of the previous generation Dodge D-Series pickups, introduced in 1972. The new model introduced larger wraparound tail lamps, dual rectangular headlamps, and squared off body lines.

Engine choices were paired down to the 225 slant-six and 318 and 360 V8s. The interior was updated, including a new bench seat. A completely new dashboard and an instrument cluster was an optional three-pod design, a speedometer in the center, with the two side pods containing an amateur on the top left, a temperature gauge on the bottom left, a fuel gauge on the top right, and an oil pressure gauge, bottom right. Models without the full gauge package had only indicator lights in the place of a temperature and oil pressure gauges. Among the options offered on the RAM were front bumper guards, a sliding rear cab window, air conditioning, cruise control, tilt steering column, power door locks, and windows. AM FM stereo with a cassette tape player,

styled road wheels, aluminum turbine-style mag wheels, special paint and stripe packages, two-tone paint, and a plow package for four-wheel drive models, referred to as the Snow Commander. The club cab was dropped from the lineup after 1982, but Dodge kept the tooling and reintroduced it nearly a decade later in the 1990,

models. The four-door crew cab and Utiline beds were dropped after the 1985 model year to make room on the assembly line for the then-upcoming 1987 Dodge Dakota and were never reintroduced in this generation. Basic RAM 100 models were reintroduced for 1984, replacing the previous Miser trim level available on the RAM 150. A RAM track, shift on the fly transfer case was added for the 1985 power-rams, and both the crew cab and the Utiline flared bed versions

were discontinued for 1986, the latter not to return on any Chrysler-built pickup. In 1988, the slant-6 engine was replaced by a 3.9-liter fuel-injected V-6 engine. First introduced was the Dodge Dakota. The 5.2-liter engine, on which the 3.9-Liter V-6 engine, on which the 3.9-Later V-6 engine, is based, also received electronic fuel injection in 1988. Because of the new computer-controlled fuel injection, ignition, and ABS system, more vehicle information needed to be displayed through any warning or notification lights. So inside a cab where a small compartment was once located on the dash, a new message center with four small rectangular light spots contained the check-in.

engine light and other tail-tails, including one for the parking brake and the ABS if the truck was so equipped. The message center later included wait to start and water and fuel lights on diesel models. Diagnostic fault codes were stored in the computer's memory, and cycling the ignition key three times allow the computer to flash the trouble codes through the check engine light for diagnosis of some problems. Rear ABS became standard equipment in 1989.
