Hello, hello, dear listener and welcome into IEL speaking part two.
Describe an advertisement with a famous person in it.
You should say who the person is, where you can see it, what the advertisement is all about,
and explain how you feel about the advertisement.
So an ad, advert, advertisement, commercial.
And it should have a famous person in it, like for example, Messi,
with his carisps.
Yum, yum, yum.
Rory, give us your story.
Well, to be honest, I don't really pay attention to ads.
And the only one that immediately comes to mind is one with Andre Agassi.
He's a former tennis player, I think.
I don't really know any sports or follow any sports.
So I have no idea about the fine.
details of his career. I only realized it was him because someone had pointed him out to me after the
fact. Speaking about where I saw it, I was actually just online when I was working and waiting
for some content to stream. I wasn't really paying attention, which is why I can't really
remember the brand or anything that anybody said. It wasn't particularly memorable or
distinctive, to be honest, which is ironic, given that that's what adverts are supposed to be.
They're meant to stand out. If we consider what the whole thing was about, well, the brand escapes
me. I do distinctly remember that it was for one related to kitchenware. So they had all these
things like fridges, air friars, and like on display with the same branding and similar designs
and logos, though I've no idea how they expected it to stand out, because the logo and the branding
was all just white, red, and silver. And I think those are pretty commonplace colors for
branding and brands, but I don't know much about advertising. As far as how I felt and
feel about it is concerned, I think at the time I was just happy to skip the ad as soon as
it, well, at least as soon as the option came up, it wasn't particularly eye-catching. And
even if it had been I was more interested in watching the show I had in like I was waiting for
to load than anything else. I only feel a bit frustrated about it now because I can't remember
any of the distinguishing features of it to explain further here. If it comes on again,
then I'll have to take some notes.

description below. See you soon. Right, you listen. This task is quite specific, so you should remember
an advert with a famous person. So you can take a look at some adverts of Coca-Cola.
Who's in the adverts for Coca-Cola? Also, Coca-Cola pay us free advertising money.
Well, there are some famous people
But unfortunately, I don't know them
Who, can you tell me their names?
Maybe I'll know them
That will be funny if I do
Actor Jamie Dornan
Oh, I've heard about him
In an August 2025 campaign for Diet Coke
Good for him
This is my taste
Yeah, so we call them like campaigns
And we call it endorsement
Tell this, you know
endorsement is a type of advertising when a famous person, a star, a celebrity, advertises something, endorsement.
So it's called celebrity endorsement.
There was this advertisement where they put all famous football players together.
So all of these are really distinguished adverts because we can remember them so clearly.
I'm joking, of course, we can't remember anything.
So if something is distinguished or distinguishable,
and it's quite memorable.
It's got features that you can see clearly.
Yeah, I'm just saying that deal with the ad.
Take a look.
So, Coca-Cola with a famous person or Adidas with famous people.
Or just pick a football player advertising something.
Okay.
Rory told us the story with André Agassi.
Who was advertising?
What?
I think it was some kind of homeware brand.
Right.
Rory is not sure.
No.
And really, how much are you paying attention to advertisement?
So this is good to highlight some phrases if you're not sure what is coming or what you're supposed to be talking about.
So you could say something like, I don't really pay attention or I wasn't really paying attention.
I didn't follow the advert or I wasn't following it.
And then, thinking about other parts of it, you could say, just give some very vague details and say,
which is why I can't really remember.
But something might stand out,
so you could say I do distinctly remember.
I do distinctly remember
messy advertising crisps.
Yum, yum, yum.
Yeah, there are like some famous people advertising cartier
and watches and Gucci bags and stuff.
Another phrase might be,
I have no idea about the fine details.
It could be the fine details of this advertisement,
or the fine details.
of Andre Agassi's career.
I have no idea who that is.
It's just because someone I was with said, that's who it was.
Speaking about where I saw it, I saw it online, I saw it on TV, I saw it when I was working.
Yeah, it's strange.
On a billboard.
Why do you watch ads while you are working?
Yeah, I saw it on a billboard outside.
So on a billboard, online.
On the internet, on Instagram, it popped up when I was scrolling.
through TikTok.
Okay.
So I was watching some content on Instagram and I saw it.
Or on YouTube, on YouTube.
Yeah, if you don't remember anything, I can't really remember the brand or anything he advertised.
But now, dear listener, you should prepare for this.
You can pick an ad and a famous person and be more specific, right?
So this ad wasn't memorable.
It wasn't special.
It was ordinary.
and I didn't remember anything, so it wasn't particularly memorable.
Or distinctive.
A distinctive, something that is different from others.
If we consider what it was about, it was about blah, blah, blah.
It was about the watch.
He advertised Coca-Cola.
Or, if you don't remember, the brand escapes me now.
I do remember that it was da-ta-ta-ta.
Like, I really remember.
I do remember.
If you remember something very well, you can say I do distinctly remember.
Distinctly.
Like very much precisely.
Like, clearly.
I distinctly remember that it was Messi with some other famous football players.
And they were advertising Adidas or Nike.
You might not remember that specific brand, but you could remember the colors.
So you might talk about specific colors like I did, like red.
like red, white, silver.
Yeah.
And if you can see them, then they are on display.
So here, in the advert, fridges, air friars, and similar things, or the like, were on display.
They could have branding, which is, well, things associated with the company, such as the design or the logo, which is like the symbol for the company as well.
When we start talking about our feelings, you can say, as far as how I felt about it,
I think that I was quite happy.
So you move to the next subject by introducing the subject itself.
So as far as how I felt about it, I think I was quite happy.
Oh, I think I was excited.
I think I was surprised.
Oh, I was bored.
Now, there could be some negative feelings as well.
Yeah, I found a delisna.
The ad is about legal.
It's a legal commercial.
Ah, okay.
Hey.
It's outstanding.
Dear listener, you should watch it.
Just Google.
Ligo commercial with Messi and Rinalda and there are other famous football players.
Oh, it's so cool.
It stood hard so much it was confused with Coca-Cola.
Exactly.
And if it's a great ad, you can say it's eye-catching.
Rory tells us that it wasn't particularly eye-catching, but Ligo ad, I vividly remember it.
I just didn't remember the brand.
The brand escapes me.
But I remember the ad.
So it's eye-catching.
Because there are four stars, four football stars, four celebrities together.
It's called Everyone Wants a Peace, Ligo, Ligo Football, FIFA World Cup.
Ah, like a piece of Lego. Nice.
So, you see, a very good example of successful celebrity endorsement.
Or like a campaign, like a legend.
go campaign, a nice commercial ad ad advert.
Oh, there's one thing we didn't mention, but I should have.
We could talk about a brand ambassador, and that's like a famous person or just a person who represents the brand.
In this advert, Andre Agassi was doing his celebrity endorsement or being a brand ambassador for that company.
Maybe not very effectively, but I don't know if that's his fault or if it's the ad.
Yeah, for example, like actor Jamie Donnan for Diet Coke.
so Jamie Donnell is the ambassador.
If you don't know what I'm talking about, just Google Jamie Donon, D-O-R-N-A-N.
Wow, he's half-naked.
And that was when we lost Maria completely.
The lady is watching birds, but oops, is half-naked.
Watchers Maria becomes completely incomprehensible.
if she wants to use this ad for her.
Yeah, you see, so kind of, I was interested in the advert
because the actor was half naked.
All right.
So at least in Lego ad, they are all, like, well-dressed.
Oh, you can say, like, I felt a bit frustrated
because he was half-naked for some reason.
I didn't expect that.
Frustrated, like, I was annoyed.
Angry, like, wow, what's going on?
Rory, why did you say, like, if it comes on again,
I'll have to take some notes.
Yeah, because I couldn't remember anything.
So here, if the advert comes on, if it appears,
then we could say it comes on,
and you'll have to take some notes if you don't remember the details.
So you could say that too.
Like, I don't remember the details.
Next time I'll have to take some notes.
Ready, listener.
So you have to watch two ads.
That's for the purpose of your IELs test.
The first one is Lego with Messi, Ronaldo, and Mbapet.
And the second one is Diet Coke ad, 2025. This is my taste. It's a very common topic, dear listener. Describe a commercial, describe an ad you dislike, describe an annoying ad, describe an interesting advertisement. So you have two good examples and one example that Rory talked about. Oh yeah, I'm watching it now. So he took his clothes off. He went swimming.
that Maria keeps referring back to this advert is because it's the one time in the history of the podcast
she can talk about nudity and get away with it. No, he's half naked. He took his t-shirt off. So this
swimming involved, there's music involved in this a lot of diet coke. And he's still half-naked.
So he's in his swimming trunks. So they kind of drink this diet coke. Yeah, Coca-Cola,
just like, you know where to find us. Right, dear listener. So,
You're expecting us to stand in a shower, drinking diet,
half naked, then that's not going to happen.
Yeah, celebrity endorsement.
This is the type of advertisement in this topic.
Thank you very much for listening.
We'll get back to you in our next episode.
Bye.
