Hello, hello, dear listener, and welcome into IEL speaking part two. Describe your perfect job. You should say what it is, what it includes, what you like about it, and explain why you think it is perfect. Rory, give us your story. Well, I really love teaching, but I also love to have control of my own time and space. So I think some kind of hybrid work situation would be good for me. To explain more about exactly what that is,

it would be a combination of working online from the comfort of my own home and in-person work in the classroom for short bursts of time. Not only would it include that, but it would also involve going to different places and meeting people, so I would never be bored and always have something new to do. I also like the idea of doing it in conjunction with something like teacher training. so I can take full advantage of my skill set, but still have some sort of end point to look forward to as well.

So I can move on to the next thing. I think I'd really appreciate the combination of creativity and freedom with changes of pace and scenery like that, just to do all the different tasks in the different places. I'd be able to manage my own time and get a nice break from my routine whenever I liked. I think it's important to try and balance these things as much as possible, really. As far as its perfection is concerned, I like the idea of mixing things up from time to time

and not getting stuck in a rut like a lot of people do. I think it would give me a good chance to push myself, but in a comfortable way. Plus, who doesn't like to travel about and see new people in places? It sounds like a win-win to me. If it never happens, though, I don't think I'll feel too bad about it. I quite like how things work for me already. I kind of do these things by myself at the moment, but if it happened more consistently, then that would be great because right now sometimes I find myself getting a little bit bored by everything.

And when you're stuck like that for a while, it's not really a great position to find yourself in psychologically speaking. So who knows? Hopefully it will be something that I'll have in the future. Or just go online or think what your perfect job is, but don't choose something weird and strange that you can't talk about.

like something okay i want to be a doctor i want to be a teacher i want to be a lawyer but could be difficult to talk about being a lawyer or an IT specialist or a i developer oh fancy or i want to be unemployed okay my perfect job is being unemployed oleg if you're listening i think your job is a perfect job. I have a student Oleg who's a perfect job. What's this job? Oh, he does different things here and now

here and there. Look at him. It's perfect. So, de Lisina, you can say, I really love technology, I really love teaching, I really love talking to people, I really love

being a doctor. So what you like? Or like a growing plants, I want to be a farmer. Why not? But whatever you do, connect it to what we're talking about here. So you need to explain exactly more what it means. So I chose something that will have vocabulary for everybody. I talked about hybrid work, which is when you work online from the comfort of your own home, which is a good collocation to have, and you can work in person,

which is like face to face with people. For short bursts of time, that means short periods of time. Yes, and you have control. of your own time and space. If you work online, for example, like you control, I want to control my own time and space. I want to work for myself.

I want to have my own business, for example, yeah, want to work from home, running my own business, managing my own business. And my work would involve talking to people. My work would involve,

like I would like, I would like to have a job which involves going to different places, traveling to different places, meeting different people. So here we use ING. Like, my perfect job would involve doing something. Well, usually traveling, talking to people, working with computers, technology. So I would never be bored to death. Yeah, so it would never be dull, boring.

I would never be bored. Yeah, but really like. What position is that? It's not really a position. It's just like a kind of mix of jobs, really. That's why I said it's a hybrid. That means when you combine things together. So things work in combination with each other

or in conjunction with each other. Yeah, and here Rory doesn't give us a certain position, but it would be better for your answer to say, okay, I would like to be a doctor, a teacher. So the examiner understands, like, what position you are talking about exactly. I'd really appreciate the combination of freedom and creativity. So I would appreciate something in my job.

And you can say I want freedom and creativity in my job, or I would really appreciate the combination, like when freedom is combined with creativity, the combination of freedom and creativity. I would like changes of pace. Pace like speed. Like today, you work all day. Tomorrow you don't work at all.

Or like you work half day. Pace, like speed. Could be fast pace. Slow pace. Or it could be slow-paced. Scenery. Like I'd appreciate. A change of scenery.

Scenario like landscape. Like nature. Perhaps like today, Rory would like to work in Scotland. Next week, he'd like to work in Paris. That would be ideal. With a glass of wine and a cigarette. baguette and do listen

I'd like to manage my own time. So manage my own time. Control my own time. And here we can use be able to. So can do it. I'm able to do it. I would be able to manage my own time. Again, we'll use wood because I'd like to.

And again, we are talking about an ideal job, right? So, you can talk about a job of a doctor, for example, but you can say, yeah, but I'll manage my own time. I will have a nice break from my routine every week. Now, maybe like you're a famous doctor, you know, you run your own business and you can choose things.

not work around the clock. It's important to balance things. So balance work and play. Play like free time. So you do them equally, or maybe not equally, but you do them in a way that doesn't, one does not take over the other.

Perfection is the noun of perfect, like a perfect job. Perfection. So the perfection of this job. I like the idea of mixing things up. So mix things up, have different things. Like you mix the format of working, like offline, online, something you do online, something you do offline.

So I like the idea of mixing things up. I don't want to get stuck in a rot. There we go, dear listener. That's your idiom to get stuck in a rot. usually used about work, C2, band nine. Oh yeah. A band nine moment. So to be stuck in a rut,

two fixed on one particular type of job activity or method. So, for example, like after 15 years in one company, I feel I'm stuck in a rut. Like, you work for 15 years and then like, ooh, you feel I'm stuck. I'm like, I'm fixed. So I'm stuck in a rut. it's negative, you listen.

And usually we say this when we want to change. So you can say it in a negative sentence, I don't want to be stuck in a rat. Rory, could you give us another sentence with stuck in a rat? Well, no one likes being stuck in a rot because it's just the most boring thing in the world. Yeah. And you can say, for example, like,

oh, I don't want to be stuck in a rat. So I'd like to change my job every five years, for example. Today I'm a doctor. Then I'm a founder of Bitcoin. Then I'm a baker. Dancer. You can be a professional dancer. Why not?

A belly dancer. Or belly, belly, belly dancer. You have your belly where your stomach is. belly dancer. Rory, would you like to be a dancer? No, I think it'd be the worst dancer in the world. You have, like, nice appearance. so you're handsome

so I think you would look good on stage yes if I could dance but I can't but you know Oh oh oh I saw you dance So you don't tell me that you can dance You can dance I cannot dance

For anyone who is enjoying this torture I can't dance Oh you're listening yes I saw Rory dance once So if I don't dance And Maria is not subjected to it That is a win win win A win win

Something I said Sounds like a win win to me, means that there are two sides to something and both of them benefit. You can also say that it would give me a good chance to push myself. So becoming a director or running my own business would give me a good chance to push myself, like to kind of motivate myself, to push myself. And we finish off with the conditional. It's the first conditional, present and future. So if it never happens, so here it's quite real, right? So Roy's perfect job is real. So if it never happens in the future, I won't be too cut up about it. Wee, it's a phrase, a verb,

cut up about it. That means sad. Yeah. I won't be too sad about it. Cut up. Cut up. Cambridge and like Diction gives me just cut someone up Oh, that's sad I think it's probably an American English thing Cut up about it Why are you using American English? Because I've been watching a lot of American television

Oh, there we go Okay, yeah, Camerichaelic doesn't have it So I won't be too cut up about it Like I won't be too sad Yeah, or I won't get depressed So if it never happens I'll be fine I won't be too cut up about it

I quite like how things work for me now. So I like my life now. Right, dear, listen on, what's your perfect job? Think about it. Every now and then, I see on the internet this vacancy. The vacancy is a caretaker of an island. So there's an island there in the world, and you should take care of it, maintain the island.

You stay there and you take care of the island. So, yeah, that could be a perfect job. You can talk about it. I'd love to be a caretaker of the island. I would love to be a podcaster. A podcaster, Ryan, by the way. A YouTuber. And you just describe everything that you've heard from Maria and I.
