Hello, lovely. I'm Maria.
And my name is Rory, and we are the host of the AILD Speaking for Success podcast.
The podcast that aims to help you improve your speaking skills as well as your listening skills along the way.
We've started this podcast to give you super grammar and fabulous vocabulary for your high school.
Your bandine score.
Oh, Rory, I'm so bored. I'm bored to death.
I'd love to go walking near a volcano again.
to be on top of a volcano.
That's a pretty extreme activity for dealing with your boredom.
Shall we talk about extreme activities?
Yeah.
Extreme activities.
Adrenaline.
Roo swimming with sharks.
Dear listener, bungee jumping, skydiving.
Like, you know, what's his face?
Jason Statham.
Jump out of a helicopter like, ah ha ha.
Without any parachute.
We all love Jason's Tatum, right?
Good.
I like that.
Don't even wait for an answer.
His latest film with bees, where he kind of, you know, like,
Oh, I'm a good guy, I'm a good guy, I'm with bees, I'm all, I'm making honey, you know,
and then he just like, kind of, like, like this.
Extreme Activities, Dear Listener, let's go.
Have you ever tried any extreme activities?
I have, actually.
I've done bungee jumping several times
and I've been cage diving with great white sharks as well.
It's brilliant.
It's a real rush, actually, now that I think about it.
What did you think wore exciting activities when you were a child?
Well, anything that let you take a little bit of risk
like going on a bike ride with just you and your friends
or going out for a walk completely unsupervised and without a curfew?
That sounds like really mild compared to things like bungee jumping,
but it's a lot, it's still something I thought was quite exciting when I was younger.
Has anything exciting happens to you recently?
Oh God, I don't really know.
Oh, yes, I did lead climbing with my friend a few weeks back.
That's a type of rope climbing where you take the rope with you
rather than have it prepared for you in advance.
So if you fall, you can fall quite a few weeks back.
far and actually you could really hurt yourself. Other than that, honestly, I can't think of anything.
I'm a very boring person with a very sheltered life normally. Would you like to try scuba diving or
bungee jumping? I've done both actually. And while I wouldn't mind doing either again, they
aren't at the top of my to-do list. I need to avoid death so I can finish the next round of renovations
on my home.
As you know, we now release all of our premium content for free
and it's available for one month.

See you soon.
You've just said I want to avoid death.
Yes.
Okay.
Audio listener, Rory wants to avoid death.
death so he can finish renovations in his apartment.
This is how exciting my life is now. That's all I do.
So I can't go mountain skiing because I need to stay alive to pay my rent and to do all
these renovations. Amazing. That's it. That's what my life has become though, just a never-ending
series of issues with this with this house, which I love. I love you, house. But I just wish that
It would be easier.
Oh, my God.
So, dear listener, extreme activities.
We are not talking about nice cooking at home.
You know, we talk about rock climbing, scuba diving when you put this tank with oxygen and you dive into deep waters.
Snowboarding, surfing, white water, rafting.
Rafting is when you go to a river.
with a small boat
and you kind of
blu-l-l-blah-blah like this.
You've done that, I think, haven't you?
Yeah, but the river was calm.
So it was quite nice.
Yeah, bungee jumping is when you just jump.
And that's all.
You just jump.
Yeah, bungee jumping is when you have a rope,
which is usually, well,
you are tied with a special thing
and you just jump off a cliff.
crazy.
Well, maybe not off a cliff, off a bridge.
Yeah, or bridge.
Mm, yeah.
Hmm.
So you can say that I've done.
So what have you done?
And even if you haven't done anything, dear listener, just kind of speak about some
activities.
Imagine that you are Jason Statham.
You've done everything in life.
And for some reason, Jason Statham speaks like this.
I'm J. Jason Statham.
I have done everything in life.
Has he been bungee jumping as well?
Well, Jason has done everything.
From bungee...
No, he's done bungee jumping from a motorcycle.
Without any rope.
Jason doesn't need a rope.
Well, then that's not bungee jumping.
That's just suicide.
No, no, no, no.
There's a film and he just, you know, like...
He has his motorcycle and it's in the mountains
and he just, you know, like,
he's driving his motorcycle at a very high speed and then bam!
He just jumps from a motorcycle onto the train.
That is crazy.
Yeah. What a rush.
What a rush.
Rory, if we say what a rush, what do you mean?
An adrenaline rush, which is the release of the hormone or the neurotransmitter,
which makes you have that rushing feeling when you're excited.
I should say that's not what it's for.
That's just the effect it has.
I have no idea what it's for.
It's probably to encourage you to be able to run away.
from things faster.
Yeah, so you can say that I've done
mountain biking
or skydiving or bungee jumping,
rock climbing.
It was brilliant.
What a rush.
I felt the adrenaline.
Rory told us that,
he said,
I've been cage diving
with great white sharks.
Is that perfect aspect?
Yeah, present perfect,
continuous.
So I've been cage diving.
I don't know.
I don't think so.
I think that's present, perfect,
and then K, plus like a gerund, like cage diving is an activity.
Yeah, but it would have been if you said,
I've done cage diving, but you said, I've been cage diving.
Ooh.
Regardless, it's still pretty good grammar.
So try and use that.
I've been cage diving, or I haven't been cage diving.
It's still nice.
Yeah, so go to, you know, like best activities or like 50 best adventin activities for thrill.
Thrill. Thrill seekers.
How are there 50? What's number 50? Or rather, what's number one?
Oh, it's number 50. Okay, okay, number one, number one.
Ice cross-carting.
What?
So the activity on ice and you're kind of like, you're driving your,
cut this little car on ice.
Okay.
Yeah, on the frozen lakes.
And number 50, okay, wait.
Number 50 is speed skiing.
What?
Speed skiing.
I think some of these are just made up.
Speed skiers exceed 200 kilometers per hour on a regular basis.
What?
200 kilometers per hour.
That's crazy.
On your skis, are you joking?
Yeah, dear listener, this is insane.
Okay.
So you can go ahead, yeah, I've done speed skiing.
My idea is like choose three super extreme activities and just say that you've done them.
When you were a child, you thought that something was exciting.
What was exciting?
Well, anything that involved a little bit of risk.
a little bit, some risk.
For example, a bike ride with your friends.
Or a walk completely unsupervised.
So when children are unsupervised,
they have no adults to bother them.
For example, at night, in the forest.
Has anything exciting happened to you?
So here, like any exciting events,
maybe, I know, you went to a concert
or you made an Italian dish, something exciting.
Or maybe you did some extreme activities.
Rory told us about this lead climbing.
Lead? Yeah, climbing?
Yes.
At least that's what my friend called it.
Maybe it has another name in different countries.
Basically, you climb up.
You can climb up some rocks,
or in this case you can climb up a wall
and you attach your rope as you go.
Yeah, Dely-Sno, but you can choose another activity, for example.
Escape room.
Ooh, escape room.
You have a team of your friends and you solve a puzzle to get out of a room or a bunker
to get out of somewhere.
And, you know, it's crazy because, like, you're given an hour
and you should, you are in the room, everything is locked.
And you should solve puzzles.
you should find things, kind of be detectives, and to get yourself out of the room.
And when the time is running out, they have this like, get out of the room, get out of the room.
You're going to go, oh my God, I'm going to stay here forever.
That's crazy again.
Especially if you are underground.
And usually, like, escape rooms are below the ground, like minus like one, two levels.
And you're kind of like, ooh, you have to survive a dead.
dangerous scenario, like a quest.
You can say that I've done scuba diving, I've done bungee jumping, or I haven't done scuba diving,
but I've done bungee jumping.
Or you can lie, dear listener.
You can say, huh, I've done them both.
I wouldn't mind doing them again.
I wouldn't mind, like, I'm okay if I do them again.
And then you can say that scuba diving is at the top of my to-do list.
So what is a to-do list?
A to-do list is just a list of things that you want to do.
Yeah.
For example, like, I have a to-do list with 50 extreme activities I want to do.
And I have a to do list of things I want to do today, like put the screen protector of my phone
and prepare for a job interview.
It's all very exciting.
Yeah, but as for me, I want to do bobsleigh riding.
Are you sure this is not your bucket list instead?
Ice climbing.
Well, next weekend, you know, like ice climbing, just climb ice.
Are you going ice climbing next weekend, seriously?
Absolutely, yes.
Oh, my God.
Because I'm an adrenaline junkie.
Yeah, or you can say that these activities are not at the top of my to-do list.
you can say that they are on my bucket list.
I have a bucket list with activities I want to do in my life.
So you can say they are on my bucket list.
And then the final sentence is my favorite.
Roy, could you repeat that?
What did you say about death?
What did I say about death?
Oh, yeah, I need to avoid death so I can finish the renovations in my house.
Because extreme activities, well, they are risky deal with snow, yeah, and people die, right?
because snowboarding, like mountain climbing, just simple hiking.
Okay, people die.
And Rory won't said like, okay, I need to stay alive.
So no extreme activities for me because I need to finish my renovations.
It's very funny.
It's true though.
No, it's true, right, yeah.
Because like we have responsibilities in life.
You may have children, so I need to stay alive.
So I avoid all these extreme non-term.
nonsense, okay?
So Jason Statham
does all the extreme activities for me.
So Jason, thank you very much for sponsoring our podcast.
Just get in touch, you know.
If you happen to listen, if you're listening, Jason, like, we love you.
Okay, we, you're amazing.
Please sponsor the podcast and get us some attention.
Yeah, yeah, just you can donate money to our podcast.
Right, dear listener, thank you very much.
Even if you are not an extreme person, you can just lie just to use some nice words.
Okay.
Just Google top extreme activities and choose the strangest words with strangest pictures.
Okay.
Cooking on top of an active volcano.
Yeah.
This is crazy.
You know, all this lava, you know, and you're kind of, oh yeah, let's fry some
eggs.
Oh,
yum, yum, yum.
I do not love of that idea.
Thank you very much.
We love you and hug you.
And we'll get back to you in our next episode.
Bye.
Bye.
