A horrible, horrible collision over Washington, D.C., over the Potomac last night.
What we need to look at is what the incoming Trump administration has done in the last week since they've been in power. Kylie put up the first tweet. If Joe Biden fired 100 FAA employees and a plane crash
happened just a few hours later, Fox News would bring Lou Dobbs back from the dead with wall-to-wall
coverage, blaming it on Biden. And I think one thing that we're going to be observing over these next four years are these massive cuts and then death and suffering because of these cuts.
And the Republicans for decades have campaigned and labeled regulations as something that are bad.
And Democrats have an opportunity to rebrand this as consumer protections because there are over 60 people that are dead now because of to cut all of these people designed to protect
the people that are flying. And then just the lack of accountability, the foresight,
people will be in danger if I make these cuts. When reality is, he doesn't care. He's not
interested in that. He's interested in his petty grievances. And it is horrific and it is sad. And
it was avoidable. Above all else,
it was avoidable. And when you are the president of the United States, the buck stops with you.
For the last four years, the right-wing media echo chamber and all of the crazy Trumpers,
every single thing that happened, it landed squarely on Joe Biden's shoulders and his
administration. And as such, the following needs
to happen the next four years. Let's look at these two side-by-side headlines out this morning.
The first one, Trump fires heads of TSA, Coast Guard, and gets key aviation safety advisory
committee. And then this morning's headline, passenger jet with 64 aboard collides with army helicopter while landing at Reagan Airport near D.C.
So, in my opinion, you have these cuts in a place where you cannot cut.
We have to have aviation safety.
That's a place where we need to have an increase, if anything, and not a
decrease. And so the fact that he's come in and flexing with his wife, Elon Musk, about we're
cutting this, we're cutting that, we're cutting this, the ramifications of all of these cuts,
not all, but because there is some frivolous spending, obviously, within the
federal government. But these big agencies that they want to kneecap is very, very dangerous for
public safety. Well, and the fundamental problem with this is Trump knows nothing about managing a budget, aviation security, he just goes in with a pen and starts cutting jobs
designed to protect consumers with zero care
to how it will affect passengers and the public at large.
And this is the most predictable outcome
that could possibly happen based on the cuts that he has made to aviation in the last
seven days. It is predictable beyond all else. You know, Trump and everybody surrounding him,
they lack empathy. And for them, these are just numbers. And they are all about the optics of dressing up and the shock and awe and the smoke and mirrors
administration. And where this is so dangerous is a lot of these agencies are so functioning and
provide guardrails for the public because they're funded.
They're not run by corporations that are trying to cut them for the shareholders to make bigger bonuses.
And this is going to be the oligarchy versus the protections that government, especially the federal government, can provide.
Here's a tweet that was posted yesterday morning,
just 24 hours ago. An FAA employee I know confirms agency already lacks sufficient
air traffic controllers. The so-called buyouts and other attacks on federal employees won't help.
Remember that fact when the flight delays slash crashes commence and Trumpers start
falsely blaming DEI or Biden.
This was put out 24 hours ago.
So people were already sounding the alarms about these buyouts.
And I just want to point out that there was a there is an exact copy of what the Trump administration is doing with these federal buyouts with what Elon Musk did with the Twitter once he bought it and then changed the name to X.
Twitter now has lost 70% of its net worth under Musk.
That is a failure. If you lose 70% of your company's value in less than two years,
that is considered a failure. He's just so rich that it doesn't matter. But in any other terms,
that's going to be bankrupt. That's going to take you under. They're taking this crazy ass plan and applying it to the federal government.
And what's going to happen is people are going to die and people are going to suffer.
And Pumps and I recently, and all of us that I've had at podcasts, lost a young person
that worked for us to gun violence.
And for all of the over 60 something people that have lost family members
over something senseless and avoidable, reconciling that death, a preventable death
on top of the grief and the sadness and the void that you feel is really daunting. And so
Trump comes out with this insane response last night. Let me read it to you
guys. The airplane was on a perfect and routine line of approach to the airport. The helicopter
was going straight at the airplane for an extended period of time. It is a clear night. The lights on
the plane were blazing. Why didn't the helicopter go up or turn? Why didn't the control tower tell the helicopter what to do instead of asking if they saw the
plane?
This is a bad situation that looks like it should have been prevented.
Not good.
Not one mention of the lives lost.
He's already like in conspiracy theories immediately instead of saying, we are going to have a robust investigation and
spend whatever monies we have to in the future to prevent this from ever happening again.
None of that. None of that from this guy because he doesn't care. And they will all start trying
to blame Biden for this. He is the president of the United States right now. And it pains me to say that, but he is.
And the buck stops with him and his insane truth, social conspiracy theory stuff.
I just have to say, like, this is so shocking that as a country that we were born and raised
in, that's our president. Oh, it is shocking because he is so ill-equipped
and so clearly devoid of empathy.
When I saw his response,
just taking out the fact that it's so undignified
and unpresidential to put it on the bottom dollar
truth social, but that's another story.
But the lack of empathy for
the people that lost family members for the people that died and the lack of accountability he would
rather go into conspiracy theories than take accountability and say we have made cuts to this
budget we're going to take a look at that because our number one
concern is to protect people that are flying, consumers of the aviation economy or whatever
you want to call it. But he doesn't because number one, he wants to say it's somebody else's fault,
but it just the devoid of empathy, not that I was surprised, but it's so blatant. Well, and something else that's going to be really problematic here is you have Pete Hegseth as Secretary of Defense.
And their number one mission seems to be to make General Milley's life as miserable as possible. while Trump and all of these insane appointees are taking power and dismantling the federal
government at an alarming rate, their number one mission is to carry out revenge for this
oversized toddler. And it's, it's a mockery. And I guess what's going to have to happen, and this is horrific, but it's like
we talked, we spoke yesterday, Mike Pence no longer supports Trump and seems to have some
clarity on that. Karen Pence. And sadly, I guess to get people to see clearly how dangerous and
maniacal this man is.
People are going to have to suffer.
Is that where we are?
Like we've lost the ability to say,
we can look at history. And when we don't fund these things,
crashes can happen.
And we have to have checks and balances
and regulations and safety
because that protects the general public.
I guess that's not enough.
And I think that when it comes to vaccines,
when it comes to the EPA, when it comes to the FAA, when it comes to the TSA, all of these things,
history can no longer be the guide. It's going to be this knee-jerk, short-sighted impulse.
We're going to cut it. We're going to dismantle it and take a victory lap. And then people are
going to die and suffer. And then maybe the
public will come around and saying, oh shit, this was a terrible idea. I tend to agree with you that
it's going to take suffering on a mass level for these people to understand. Like I've seen so much
on social media regarding people that have with the federal funding freeze that benefits cut and they're appealing to Trump's sense of sympathy and empathy. And I'm like, you're shit out of luck.
He has none. And people are suffering because of his administration. We just saw in the crash,
people are dying. And sadly, because of the disinformation that is put out there by
propaganda news networks and podcasts
that have ties to Russia and all of those things, the misinformation has convinced people,
all of these things that aren't true, a deep state, everything's Biden's fault.
And the only way for them to understand how dangerous he is, is to have something happen
to them personally, because a sense of community
has not been able to do it. So they are going to have a personal loss, personal, well, you know,
personal financial issues, personal loss of insurance or benefits or something. And at that
time they'll realize, but like you said, sadly,
but true, it appears that we're in a situation where these people are only going to learn
because of deep pain. And this is something to keep an eye on moving forward when these things
happen. Any form of transparency or reports about this that are factual and have veracity in them, that will disappear.
And we are going to start seeing reports from the federal government that are conspiracy
theories about things that could be reported about factually, because this is the same
guy that has fired inspectors general and any sort of oversight or accountability. So the reporting on this from
the government is not going to be reliable as to what went wrong. All right, guys, we'll see you
all later today.
