Starting point is 00:00:00 Welcome to IHIP News. Pumps is still on vacation. Josh is still subbing for her. Josh doesn't watch a lot of news as a way to maintain his serenity because he's so goddamn mad about Trump. So Donald Trump wins and he hangs out with Elon Musk 24-7, 365, and also this other multi-millionaire slash billionaire Vivek Ramaswamy. And these guys are like the MAGA bros and they're big tech and all of this stuff. So there's already starting the MAGA cannibalism. And Vivek Ramaswamy
Starting point is 00:00:41 stepped in it yesterday. I want to read to you this tweet that he put out yesterday. The reason top tech companies often hire foreign born and first generation engineers over Native Americans isn't because of innate American IQ deficit, a lazy and wrong explanation. A key part of it comes down to the C word, culture. Tough questions demand tough answers. And if we're really serious about fixing the problem, we have to confront the truth. Our American culture has venerated mediocrity over excellence for way too long, at least since the 90s and likely longer. That doesn't start in college.
Starting point is 00:01:20 It starts young. A culture that celebrates the prom queen over the math Olympiad champ, or the jock over the valid Victorian will not produce the best engineers. A culture that venerates Corey from Boy Meets World or Zack and Slater over Screech and Saved by the Bell. Anyway, he goes on and on. And there's several things I want to unpack about this. Number one, Jeff Bezos, Vivek Ramaswamy, Tim Cook, none of these people were prom kings and like super duper athletes. Warren Buffett, all the men who have truly won at capitalism were not quarterbacks and prom kings. So that falls on his face.
Starting point is 00:02:07 Number two, I can't believe the lack of self-awareness where he says that we celebrate mediocrity and he endorsed Donald Trump. Right. I mean, that's the first thing that jumped off the screen as you're reading it to me in my mind is that that's exactly what America did when they celebrated and elected Donald Trump is they opted for ignorance, subpar mediocrity, and then celebrated it. That's what our culture, that's what our country has somewhat become, is if you can make a mean soundbite and you can put someone down, if you can laugh at their expense. You know, I was thinking to myself the other day, Donald Trump may have established for one of the first times in our country, the fact that, you know what? Nice guys really do finish last. You get
Starting point is 00:03:05 rewarded. You get trophies. You get celebrated if you're the biggest motherfucking asshole in the world. That's what this lesson has taught. Unfortunately, my boys, our kids, other kids that are growing up is that, hey, you can be the racist asshole. You can fuck hookers. You can have sex, cheat on your wife. You can do it all. You can have this smorgasbord of debauchery and the American people are going to love you for it. They're going to celebrate you. They're going to think it's okay. And unfortunately, what that does is it normalizes all of those things, the racism, the infidelity, the dishonesty. All of it is highlighted with an exclamation point and said, hey, that's OK. This is our guy.
Starting point is 00:03:55 Fuck the rest of them. This is our guy. amazing to me that these people, these billionaires around him, they jump onto this anti-immigration push that Trump campaigned on because he did like Hitler did. He identified a common enemy for everyone to hate. This is the boogeyman. Here's who's coming to get us. It is this caravan of immigrants. That's what Hitler did with the Jews. And then lo and behold, all of these billionaires, guess what they want? Immigrant labor. They know that they can import it from India and make these people work 80 hours a week, pay them $70,000 a year, and they can't do that with Americans. So now you have the MAGA faithful, like this crazy lady, Laura Loomer, who's just eviscerating Elon Musk, who is supposed to be the champion of free
Starting point is 00:04:52 speech. So she starts calling him out in this inner MAGA cannibalism that happened yesterday. And guess what the big champion of free speech does? He takes away her Twitter verifications, her blue checkmark and all of this stuff. So the biggest thing that I see that jumps off the page for me is all of these guys, Trump and all of these nuts that surround him. They think the rules that apply to everybody else don't apply to them. That if they want immigrant labor, they can have it. But when they need to wedge issue immigrants and dehumanize them and concentrate them and have all of these people that just salivate over the cruelty of being mean to immigrants, they use that.
Starting point is 00:05:40 But then, hey, we need our particular brand of immigrants. Yeah, the hypocrisy. But I think, in my opinion, all of these guys are making these decisions. They're saying these things, using this rhetoric, and it's all because of money. It's all, you know, Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk, these guys that are kissing the ring, they're all doing it because of money. And I don't know if they feel that way about immigrants. I don't know if they really want to deport them or not, but they'll say they do. That means they get access to Donald Trump and they can make money. And now they're kind of backing off of it a little bit and saying, hey, we need immigrants. I mean, corporate America
Starting point is 00:06:20 and all of these guys, they're going to say whatever it is they have to say to make money for their corporations and to be closer or have access to this president. I think that's what it's taught us. I honestly don't know if they feel that way about immigrants. It sounds like there's a lot of Republican pushback on, hey, we need some of these people. But again, like we talked about, I think in a previous episode, you know, immigration has become the boogeyman. That's what Republicans use that for. I don't know if they really feel that way or not, but they feel like it's an issue that they can divide the American people. Every four years, Fox starts beating the drum.
Starting point is 00:06:59 The caravans are coming. And they know that for white Americans, that there is a huge racist default setting. They know that. And it's all done by design. Where the Republican Party has been successful is with their extension of their propaganda news network. They have taught the American public that regulations are bad. And actually, regulations are very good. We need regulations. Businesses don't like them because they don't have as much profit. But this is the biggest message, and Bernie Sanders tried this, and this is the biggest message that Democrats need to jump on, is this economic populist message. It is that why is it that Elon Musk is worth $400
Starting point is 00:07:49 billion? And in 2012, he was worth like maybe $10 billion, which I'm not saying that's chump change or anything. The federal minimum wage has been $7.25 all of this time. And so you get the people who are at the lowest, earning the lowest wages that champion for the Elon Musk because of this insane propaganda machine where they get you to worship capitalism. And in an unregulated capitalistic system, There is a huge wealth disparity where the Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, all of those people are the winners. And then you have the middle class that completely shrinks. Think about it like this. Warren Buffett has made so much money and a part of him, I guess, I don't know, I haven't read too much into it, but part of him knows it's kind of fucked up that he has that much money that he has pledged to give away 99% of his wealth, 99%. So that tells me that on some level, he's like, this is kind of fucked up that I have this much
Starting point is 00:08:58 money. But, but let me tell you something. And I agree agree 100% with what you're saying. What strikes me as being really fucked up is Elon Musk is spending his days trying to remove blue check marks from people on his social media account. I mean, this guy's been amazingly successful. Right. He's got billions of dollars. Right. And that's the kind of shit he's doing. Like, you know, he's butt sore that somebody's called him out or said something. And so he's wanting to remove their blue checkmark.
Starting point is 00:09:31 I mean, that just tells you everything that you need to know about sort of where we are with everything that's going on. But back to your point with the Democrats. And I wish to a certain extent, we need someone who can just sit down and give straight, direct, honest answers. And I'll tell you, there's a value in having conviction about something. If you go look someone in the eye and you say, yes, I would do that a hundred percent. I'm sorry if you disagree with it, or if you can say, yes, I would do that. And I know you've had someone impacted by that, or I know you've had someone impacted by that. Or I know there's opposition to that, but this is why I feel strongly about it. There's value in just sitting down, looking people in the eye and saying,
Starting point is 00:10:16 you're goddamn right, that's how I feel about something and here's why. And if you don't like it, I respect that, but I'm going to do it 100%. Instead of all of these nuanced answers that don't really relate to people. So just have conviction. Believe in something and then message it. Dummy it down, message it. No, I completely agree. And I think that the Democrats need to have, again, a two-throng strategy. The first throng is to label MAGA for the greedy, fake Christians that they are.
Starting point is 00:10:47 Because if you say you're a Christian and you voted for Donald Trump, you've been exposed as being a hypocrite. So start penetrating and start throwing that dagger immediately and labeling them for valuing the rich over helping the marginalized. And we need because that's what Trump does very successfully, the radical left lunatics. And, you know, he goes on and on. And then I think the second one is this strong populist economic message. Why the hell has the minimum wage not been raised? And it has been raised because it helps shareholders. Right. And Bernie Sanders does a really good job with
Starting point is 00:11:23 that. I mean, I just I think we messed with Bernie. I agree. I agree that the last thing I want to say, and this has been Jennifer and I's policy for years as it relates to our children. Anytime someone tells us that they come from a good Christian family, a good Christian home, we immediately look over to our children and say, you are, you cannot under any circumstances, spend the night over at that house. That the fact that you come from a good Christian home in our eyes is viewed as a sign of weakness. It's viewed as a liability. It is.
Starting point is 00:12:02 Um, so I just thought that the listener would have some appreciation for our personal disdain for religion. Yes. When you are an open-minded thinker in a red state, you see the damage of it so clearly. You see how it has damaged and kept the most marginalized even further marginalized. And you see how effective religion is at getting people to vote against their best interest and getting people to vote against what they say their, quote, Lord and personal savior would want them to do, which would want them to help the marginalized. Instead, they help corporate America. I agree. I like to tell people that I forgive them for being God worshipers. I forgive you for that. I overlook it. I'll still
Starting point is 00:12:53 have conversations with you. I'll talk to you. I'll be somewhat friends with you, despite the fact that you worship Jesus Christ. You're still going to have a friend in me. That's right. All right. We'll see you guys later. It's so entertaining to have the faith. So good.
