Starting point is 00:00:00 Welcome, welcome to IHIP News, where we share our opinion about the news that is important to us as we watch the United States of America rearrange the deck chairs on the Titanic. All right, listen, we have some interesting news that we kind of want to discuss. So Trump and his acolytes were really pushing Florida Senator Rick Scott to be the Senate majority leader. And it looks like there was a little revolt within the Republican Party and they did a little voting behind closed doors. And the South Dakota Senator John Thune has been elected in somewhat of kind of a blow to MAGA from within the party. Yeah, I mean, it's a slight glimmer of hope that maybe that there really are some non-MAGA Republicans left. Although I think John Thune is, by any stretch of the imagination, I think he's going to buck Trump all the time. I'm not saying that. But on social media,
Starting point is 00:01:15 Trump made it very clear he wanted a Senate majority leader that would not require his cabinet nominees to be confirmed by the Senate, a regressive candidate, as it were. And Rick Scott raised his hand the fastest. He said, oh, that's me. Pick me. I won't. I'll go against everything we've ever done in the United States Senate before for you. And so the Republicans went behind closed doors. And what I found also interesting was out of the three candidates that put their name in the hat, Rick Scott was the first to go. They voted him out first and then they brought it down to a Texas senator and John Thune. OK, so let's think about this.
Starting point is 00:01:58 Like think about like in 08 when Obama won and if Obama had who he wanted to be the Senate majority, they probably wouldn't buck that, you know? I mean, so the fact that this is happening is interesting to me because what it tells me is what we've always known is that you have certain people in Washington that full blown, like love Donald Trump, want to dry humping, want to have a menage a trois, the American flag Trump and that person. I'm talking about Marjorie Taylor Greene. I'm talking about Gates. You know, there's these cuckoo for cocos that cannot get enough of it. Oh, I'm also talking about Moses Mike Johnson. Oh, absolutely. I mean, he wants to menage the flag and Trump all day long. He might even cut out the flag. He might. But then there are people like Mitch McConnell is evil.
Starting point is 00:02:59 There's no question about it. He is dicked over this country, top, bottom, left, right, center. There's no question about it. But he is somewhat of an institutionalist. And I do not think for a second that he likes Donald Trump. He thought, he assumed when he didn't impeach him, that he was unelectable. His brain, like many people, never imagined after January 6th that he would get elected again. And I don't think he likes him. I think he knows what's the impending shitshow of an administration and how devastating that is for the country and what values Republicans and Democrats had that was in common was the rule of law and, you know, free and fair elections and a peaceful transfer of power. Maybe they have disagreed about everything else, but that was something that an institutionalist who served
Starting point is 00:03:58 all these years with Joe Biden and others, John McCain, I think they're all asshole buddies behind the scenes and they all want to keep that part of it together. Now, we can make lists of how, rate them all from evil to 10. McConnell's always going to be a 12 in my book. But I think if hooked up to true serum and a polygraph, I doubt he even voted for Trump. Oh, that wouldn't surprise me. Here's the deal. I'm surprised that Lindsey Graham goes out as vocally for Trump as he does. I would assume that Lindsey Graham hates Trump. Listen, Lindsey Graham, boodle babied, cried on live television on Fox. You've got to go to Donald J. Trump dot com and elect Trump crying. No, I remember. So, I mean, here's the thing. Like, I don't, I don't know. I mean, he used to be BFFs with John McCain.
Starting point is 00:04:51 Right. I just think a lot of these people know, okay, there's the cult and that's our base, sadly, but we have to keep the democracy going and the pendulum swinging. And I think that this, I read that McConnell is the one that kind of rallied the troops. Yes. That he was already making phone calls and, you know, did not want Rick Scott to get it. So my hope, and maybe this is being, I'm being, maybe we're being hopeful. Right. Which is very dangerous.
Starting point is 00:05:24 It's very dangerous in Trump's America to be hopeful. But that there if there are a few senators, a few Republican senators that are not short sighted and that can look at the long game and can vote against all of the worst MAGA impulses. Now, are there going to be a lot of like tax breaks for the rich and the middle class getting dicked over and they're going to vote with that? Yes. Yes. That's just what happens. But the worst, like consolidating power in the executive branch,
Starting point is 00:05:57 removing transparency rules that the president can't be conducting business and be the president. I hope that there are some decent Republicans that can unite to vote with Democrats to put up a little mini guardrail for a couple of years. I think history will favor them in the long run than the short term little Marco Rubio, you know, whiplash situation that's going on. Yeah. I mean, when you think about how degrading and demeaning Trump was to little Marco to now just be singing his praises, it is whiplash 100 percent. Like you can't wrap your head around it. But I will say for vindictive and hateful and cruel Donald Trump is, the minute you start singing a song about him,
Starting point is 00:06:45 he forgives and forgets. You know, all Ted Cruz, the things that he said, which were true about Trump, Lindsey Graham, Marco Rubio, he's just welcomed them back with open arms. I think he probably publicly forgives them. I think behind the scenes, he's so petty. Oh, you think? I guarantee you he hates Ted Cruz. Everybody hates Ted Cruz. Well, that's true. You know, I mean, Ted Cruz, as we've established multiple times on this podcast and our other podcast, is the most unlikable, unfuckable man that has ever walked the earth. And I think
Starting point is 00:07:18 even Donald Trump would hate him. I mean, I have to believe that. I have to have I have to have that one thing, just one, one thing, you know. But I think it's interesting. I think it's really interesting that there's a mini resistance initially in the very early formational days of Trump 2.0, that there is a complete snub to Trump in his pick to be leader of the Senate. Let's hope you're right. Let's hope it continues. I'm not given the enablers and the cowards that we've seen coming out of the United States Congress in the past.
Starting point is 00:07:58 And I'm talking about Mike Johnson, first and foremost. It's hard for me to to believe that. But I do have just a tiny glimmer of hope that you might be right, given this. Here's the thing. When it comes to Moses Mike Johnson, this guy is a total religious fanatic. This guy is a complete lunatic, Marjorie Greene style nut job. There's just, I don't even think behind closed doors, like I think Lindsey Graham and Mitch McConnell might go, Jesus Christ, he's such a nut. I hate how much power he has over our base. I think that's said all the time in Republican circles. You hear people say that. Moses Mike believes that he's Moses.
Starting point is 00:08:47 Right. And God told him that. And then he probably has taken it a step further in saying God has sent this imperfect vessel to make this nation a Christian nation. This is I mean, this is a cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs nut job. We've got to get to the midterms and get Democratic leadership in Congress within the next two years. can hold because the pressure that Trump puts on people and he rage baits them all out on Twitter and on true social, which has become the biggest dumpster fire ever. And then you have this army of incels that sit in their houses all day and just mean tweet death threats the whole nine.
Starting point is 00:09:40 I mean, it's just the most vile, repulsive stuff. But here's the thing, too. Like, you've seen this, like, rise in all this toxic masculinity, and it just keeps going and going. And I think, like, we have got to start branding the Republicans for what they are. Like, these are titty baby men, not alpha males. And we have got to keep labeling the Moses Mikes. This guy is a religious fanatic. He is a charlatan.
Starting point is 00:10:11 He is a religious hypocrite. Take the negative branding and repeat it over and over and over and over again. I think we should go after red states and start talking about, look at this shitty red state. Look at the quality of life in Mississippi. Look at it in Alabama, because that's what they've done with blue cities, which are the economic epicenters that fund all of these other places. But we are going to have to start demonizing this entire movement. Like, I want it to be such that if if you call somebody MAGA, it is the equivalent of calling them a Nazi.
Starting point is 00:10:45 And the information campaign, because we can do the hope and the joy. And then when they go high, we, you know, when they go low, we go high. We got to go lower than low. We've got to just start saying, okay, you want, you want red state policies? Let's roll out Mississippi. Let's review this today. You want red state policies, listener? We live in Oklahoma.
Starting point is 00:11:06 50th in education. 50th best place for women to live. It's 40, like, eighth in health care. And on and on and on. And our governor's so deluded, he runs around going, Oklahoma's a top 10 state. Right. I'm like, what fucking planet are you living on? Right.
Starting point is 00:11:19 Yeah. It's the whole lie, lie, lie until people believe it. Yeah. So I just think, I think the plan, you know, hopefully there's some sort of revolt. But until then, the Democrats have got to seriously start branding these liars for what they're and taking the message to the middle class. You are getting duped. You are getting lied to. They're making you think that all we care about are gay people or trans people. And the situation is gay people are working class, right? The same percentage that
Starting point is 00:11:52 they are millionaires. So we're at, we have to advocate for everybody, everybody, because there's one group of people that want to marginalize everybody. And that is the 0.00001%, which Donald Trump was never able to quite achieve that, you know? Even with a big fat inheritance and six bankruptcies, because he bankrupted a casino, which I will never understand. I know that you always bring that up. It is breathtaking. It's breathtaking. The House always wins, except for him. Donald Trump could fuck up a wet dream. There's no doubt about it.
Starting point is 00:12:27 Yeah. And we're getting ready to see it on steroids. Yeah. All right, you guys, we will see you later.
