Starting point is 00:00:00 MAGA is a cult that traffics in cruelty and compulsive lying all day, every day. That's all they believe in, being mean and lying about it. Put up this graphic. At the main wonk tweets, I was promised 90 deals in 90 days. Let's check in. Zero deals. Number of legally binding trade agreements signed by the Trump administration, zero. But they get on TV all day, every day and talk about Joe Biden because that's all they have.
Starting point is 00:00:35 Next up, we have the consequences on Republicans' bill to increase debt and lower credit ratings for the United States. Thomas Massey tweets, the big beautiful bill will add 20 trillion of federal debt over 10 years. And that's according to the authors of it. But there's another huge problem. It will increase the price of the 36 trillion of debt we already have as bond buyers realize we aren't fiscally responsible. And everybody knows Moody's cuts America's pristine credit rating, citing rising debt. So this is something that the Democrats need to start attacking and attacking vociferously, number one, because it's true, and number two, to try to penetrate into the cult. MAGA is not fiscally conservative. Republicans are not fiscally conservative. This has been a lie
Starting point is 00:01:26 to tell the working class so that billionaires can justify more tax breaks. People like Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos don't even pay taxes. While you, a working class American that might make $80,000, $100,000, maybe only $40,000 a year, scraping it together to get healthcare costs pulled together. You're paying a large percentage of your salary. They have been lying liars for decades and millions of Americans have bought onto this myth that Republicans are good at business and that they're fiscally conservative. Nothing should be more alarming than America's credit rating being reduced because these people are not responsible. They cannot govern. This is the beginning of what's going to happen. Imagine how it's going to be in four years.
Starting point is 00:02:15 Well, and the pumps has a sore throat, you guys. So the problem with all of this is then you get Scott Besson and he gets on TV and they said, what about the credit rating reduction from Moody's? And he's like, so what? And so it's always propaganda. But Chris Murphy, I believe, has been the one Democratic senator who has had crystal clear clarity about this moment from the jump. He actually got on TV and said he regretted his vote for Secretary of State Marco Rubio. And every time you hear the man speak, he is the one
Starting point is 00:02:52 politician who's not gaslighting, who always stands firm against this fascism and this propaganda. And he explains exactly what's in this Republican bill. Let's put it up. He says, rightfully, the cuts to Medicaid, over 10 million people will lose their healthcare. And the tax cuts for the rich have been the story of the disastrous Republican budget bill. But I read the whole thing and there are some hidden rats in there you need to know about. He has a quick thread. Put up the next one. A hidden provision of the bill, wait for it, legalizes gun silencers. What? So now criminals will be able to hide their crimes and police will lose the ability to
Starting point is 00:03:38 respond to mass shootings. WTF. And again, I want to remind you, this is the party that lies to you all day, every day, and has for decades. They're fiscally responsive. They're pro-family. They're tough on crime. The facts are contrary to their propaganda. And Chris Murphy is always leading the charge and dismantling the propaganda. Republicans always add debt to the national deficit. It's bullshit. They're only good, these billionaires, at running their own businesses. There's no trickle-down economics. It's trickle-down rip-off. They are ripping off the American public because those
Starting point is 00:04:17 of you that don't have healthcare, guess who subsidizes that? American taxpayers. We subsidize these millionaires and billionaires, and we always have. And at the top right now, you have a South African-born man named Elon Musk, who is a total welfare queen off of all of the taxpayers. And the fact that they continue to get so much traction with this propaganda in their echo chamber, and that it's not starting to break apart just shows you how diabolical these people are. It surprises me, Zero, that they're in there fighting for guns, but they're not fighting
Starting point is 00:04:52 for poor people. That's who they are. They value guns and money more than people, full stop. OK, next up, Chris Murphy talks about AI. The bill bans states from regulating artificial intelligence present to the big AI companies that send money to Republicans. So now no state consumer protections against AI stealing our jobs or corrupting our kids. What citizen is asking for that? So the Republican Party for decades has done a really good job talking about regulations and how dangerous regulations are
Starting point is 00:05:29 and how they prevent people from making money. And they've been able to get a lot of footing in this because Americans are raised to worship capitalism. We're indoctrinated to do so. We always give so much deference to business, and that's why white businessmen in particular get so much deference to business and that's why white businessmen in particular get so much deference. But Chris Murphy nails it here because regulations are not ways to be mean to businessmen to keep them from making money. They make plenty of money. The regulations are consumer protections
Starting point is 00:06:00 and let me just spell it out for you. Cigarette companies. Cigarette companies for years had scientists on their teams that said, these definitely cause cancer. They're definitely addictive. It causes, you know, cancer is just the top and then it cascades down to all of the bad effects. They fought and fought and fought against regulations. Finally, the truth was exposed.
Starting point is 00:06:22 Same thing with the opioid crisis. But even more insidious than all of that. A lot of these oil companies since the 1970s have had environmental scientists on their staff since the 70s. I was born in 1974 that showed that the carbon was eroding the planet and warming temperatures. They hide it and they bury it. And then they hire junk scientists on top of it. And then they start a propaganda machine. Well, what's happening? You see cancer clusters in places. You see the rising sea levels. And at some point, like Miami in
Starting point is 00:06:59 particular, you have all of these Republicans down there that have bought all of these condos. And if you don't understand that climate change is real, capitalism understands that climate change is real. Capitalism acknowledges it. Why do we know that? Because there are restrictions on how high you have to build a new condo. When I'm not a podcaster, I'm an interior designer, I'm doing a project in Miami right now. And there are new laws and codes that it has to be 10 feet above sea level. Why would they do that if climate change is a hoax? Because capitalism acknowledges the science when it comes down to protecting their money, the top. They always protect their money, but they lie to the working class people and tell them it's a hoax and get them to vote against their financial interest. Next up, we have how this bill affects women's
Starting point is 00:07:51 bodies. Chris Murphy goes on to say, as usual, Republicans are trying to put male politicians in charge of women's bodies. A hidden provision in the bill bans nonprofits who provide family planning and reproductive health care from receiving federal funds. And you guys, the stuff that's going on in red states right now as it pertains to abortion is so draconian and divorced from any sense that the MAGA and the Republicans for decades have gone on about having limited government. They want limited government when it pertains to regulations to their business. They want to be able to rape and pillage everybody's pocketbook, cancer clusters be damned, consequences to the environment be damned. But one thing that they use to hold the religious right at all times is this propaganda that abortion is murder. And it has penetrated generationally in states like ours. And people go crazy about it,
Starting point is 00:08:52 absolutely crazy. And the fact of the matter is women in our states are getting raped or are having pregnancies that they cannot see to full term. If you're a wealthy white woman and your parents have money or you personally have money, you can fly to California, you can fly to Denver, you can fly to someplace and receive health care. So this disproportionately affects the poorest, most vulnerable among us, which is what Republican policies always do. They attack the poorest and most vulnerable while at the same time propagandizing them and getting them to vote against their best interest, which is just so diabolical.
Starting point is 00:09:34 Well, and the thing about it is, is they go from this religious notion, it's murder. They're pro-life until the child is born. They want to provide no social support system. And in my mind, they are doing all of this against women because that keeps women out of the workforce, that keeps women in poverty. And they know that. They know how it affects these women, but they don't care. I agree with you on that.
Starting point is 00:10:02 And I also have always thought that there was something even deeper, more Freudian about this attack on women. I think for religious men, the one singular messaging in evangelical Christianity, and you and I grew up around this and you grew up in it, is that you have to be a virgin and you can't think about making out with people. You can't think about having lustful thoughts. So you're this teenager and you're pumped with hormones and you have all of these thoughts of wanting to make out with people and slap and tickle with people. It's perfectly normal, right? But you go to some Bible thumper church where they tell you that's Satan. That's the devil. That is sinful. That is nasty. That is a bad boy. And so then they end up wanting to punish the object of their desire. So on the one hand, yes, it keeps women out of the workforce, but there's something deeper to where you get men who have daughters and mothers and sisters to vote against the people they love. And it is because in these religious institutions, women have been demonized. Even
Starting point is 00:11:06 think deeper about the Virgin Mary. Why does she have to be a virgin in that story? Because a woman who has had sex is dirty and unpure. So there is a long Freudian messaging in it that I see that I've lived around where it is like, if that woman has a kid, then that makes it easier to identify for these men that that woman is a slut. It makes them easier to slut shame. And she's not going to get off the hook for having done a slap and tickle and not have the consequences of carrying that baby to term. So there's a punitive nature in it too. All right. And lastly, of course, we know Republicans don't give a shit about children and Chris Murphy goes on. And there
Starting point is 00:11:49 are provisions making huge cuts to child nutrition programs, 30% cuts to food for kids. Come on. That means Republicans are taking food away from 12.6 million people so billionaires can buy an extra yacht. And so, you know, the lying that these people do and the cascading effect of how this affects large bulk of their base, working class base, are directly impacted by this. A lot of people in the base would say that they're Jesus folks, they're Bible reading people. And yet the Republican Party, because they've had a decades long propaganda campaign, gets these people to vote against the tenets of the Savior and their religion, helping children, helping the marginalized, helping the poor, helping the needy.
Starting point is 00:12:43 And it's just so evil to vote against nutrition programs for children while at the same time saying oh our schools are indoctrinating our kids that's all they want to indoctrinate the kids they don't want kids to critically think they don't want them to be healthy because they want all of us to be little peasants that go, Oh, Elon Musk, please help me. Maybe I'm one of your Petri tube babies, Petri dish babies. You know, it's just, but the call out from the Democrats and I commend Chris Murphy always because he tells it crystal clear. He points out the breathtaking hypocrisy very simply. And I hope that other Democratic senators and others join him in this simple messaging and don't vote like Cory Booker did, who I like you, Cory, but
Starting point is 00:13:31 what's up with that? To support Jared Kushner's dad, who is a convicted felon. I mean, just you can't have it both ways. This is a moment for moral clarity. You can't go on a barn burner speech about fascism on the floor of the Senate for hours filibustering and then go vote for this. You lose credibility. You lose credibility with people like us that are trying to help message how corrupt this administration is. Either you're for corruption or you're against it. You don't get to cherry pick. Here at IHIP News, we're against it all the time. No criminals in government. Seems pretty simple to me.
Starting point is 00:14:09 You wouldn't think it would be that hard. I don't think it should be that hard. Okay. All right. We'll see you all later.
