Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey everybody, we have a special announcement. We are starting a new Patreon only ad free show called Between Imaginary Worlds. Between Imaginary Worlds is a more casual chat show format. In each episode, I talk with different people about what they're excited about in sci-fi fantasy, what they're looking forward to, pet peeves, and a lot more. In the first episode, I talked're looking forward to, pet peeves, and a lot more.
Starting point is 00:00:25 In the first episode, I talked with my assistant producer Stephanie Billman about a competitor to The Sims that she's excited about, the things that make us not spend our disbelief in fantasy worlds, and what we're looking forward to this fall. In the second episode, which comes out today, I talked with comic book writer, Judd Winnick, about a new animated Batman series on Amazon Prime, the trippy children's television that we grew up on in the 1970s, and his theory as to what he thinks Marvel is gonna do with Robert Downey Jr. as Dr. Doom.
Starting point is 00:01:00 Here's a clip from that conversation. My goodness, where to? I say where to begin, but we can begin right at the beginning. So they announced that Robert Downey Jr. is going to play Dr. Doom. And one of the Russo brothers even referred to him as Victor Von Doom, which kind of, I don't know if that was a slip or kind of like kills the idea that I don't think they're actually doing this the way that we think they're going to be doing this. Simply because Robert Downey Jr. is Tony Stark. He's Iron Man. I don't think he's just slipping in there and he's just going to play another character and we're supposed to pretend
Starting point is 00:01:37 that everything else he did didn't happen. I think this is, and I can't imagine they're not, I can't imagine they're not doing some multiverse secret wars mumbo jumbo that this is somehow a version of Tony Stark, somehow in the multiverse who becomes a Doctor Doom. But that was the original theory everybody had, but I feel like Robert Downey Jr. confirmed recently that he is playing Victor Von Doom and that that was part of the whole reason we talked about, you know, King Kevin Feige talked about this and Kevin Feige was like, you're right, we've never done, you know, Victor Don, no one's ever really done the character justice on screen. Let's do it. You know, and then he'll just show up when he crosses over into the main
Starting point is 00:02:20 universe and say, Hey, that guy looks just like Tony Stark. I mean, I don't know. I mean, it certainly makes sense that it would be a variant of Tony Stark, who just kind of goes evil. And people call him Dr. Doom, but it seems like he is playing Victor Von Doom. At least that's what they're saying. And I would not fault them if they're lying to us. I think there's no harm in just telling the public, share his claim, Victor Von Doom. Like saying Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire were definitely, definitely, definitely not showing up in Spider-Man No Way Home like that.
Starting point is 00:02:52 Yeah, yes. And kudos to them. Kudos to them for keeping up the lie. Between Imaginary Worlds is only available to people pledging $10 a month or more on Patreon who already have access to the ad-free version of the show. Episodes of Between Imaginary Worlds will appear in that ad-free feed between regular episodes of the show.
Starting point is 00:03:18 You can also listen to Between Imaginary Worlds directly on the show's Patreon page, but it's only accessible to people pledging $10 a month or more. Now if you pledge $5 a month on Patreon, you get access to a Dropbox account, which has the full length interviews of every guest in every episode. You also get free Imaginary World stickers, and you can choose from any design in our Tee Public store. Sean C. Jackson designed a lot of the illustrations
Starting point is 00:03:45 in our tea public store, and his designs are for specific episodes. I asked him to come up with new designs for the 10th anniversary of the show, and he came up with ones for the episodes, Monsters in the Static, Fairy Godmother's Makeover Edition, Nine Lives of Red Dwarf,
Starting point is 00:04:01 Why the Gothic Keeps Gaslighting Us, and Haunted by Pepper's Ghost. They're really cool designs. Now if you pledge $10 a month instead of stickers, you get a free mug choosing from the same set of designs. You also get access to the Dropbox account, which has the full-length interviews of every guest in every episode, plus the ad-free version of Imaginary Worlds, which now includes episodes of Between Imaginary Worlds.
Starting point is 00:04:30 If you pledge $15 a month, you get all of that, but instead of a mug, you get a free t-shirt. You can search for Imaginary Worlds on Patreon or click the Patreon button on ImaginaryWorldsPodcast.org. Thanks.
