Starting point is 00:00:00 Today is Podcasting 101 for new and aspiring podcasters. If that is you, then welcome to the podcasting family. I'm sure that you have a ton of questions, which is why today I am speaking with Buzz Sprout's Priscilla Brooke. Buzzsprout is a podcast media host and Priscilla is part of their customer support slash customer happiness team, which means that she spends all day answering podcast questions. I asked Priscilla to join me on podcasting step by step to discuss the most frequent questions that new podcasters ask. We come. Why you need a podcast media host, what an RSS feed is, how to get into Apple Podcasts, why once you're in there, when you hit publish on a new episode, you don't see that right away in Apple Podcasts and the other directories. We talk about how to improve your audio quality, what you should podcast about, how to switch podcast media hosts if you change your mind, and more. I've gotten to know the team at Buzzsprout over the last year, and I love their customer support and how easy and innovative their podcast hosting platform is. I've moved one of my
Starting point is 00:01:03 podcasts over there and have been incredibly happy with their service. So if you are trying to decide which podcast host to choose, then I highly recommend that you go with BuzzSpout and you will hear more about why on this episode. If you want to try out BuzzSpout for free, visit sarahmicatel.com slash Buzz Sprout. And when you use that link, which I will also include in the show notes, Buzz Sprout will know that I sent you over to them. Once again, check out BuzzSpout via sarahmicatel.com slash buzzsprout. Have you been wanting to start a podcast for a while now, but something's holding you back?
Starting point is 00:01:49 Maybe it's fear of putting yourself out there or confusion about the technology. I'm Sarah Mikital and on podcasting step by step, I'll break down how to podcast with a little loving motivation to give you the skills and the confidence you need to finally launch that show of your dreams. Let's get started. Welcome, Priscilla. Thank you so much for joining me today. Yeah, thanks for having me.
Starting point is 00:02:15 So you work at Buzzsprout. Could you tell us what Buzzsprout is for anyone who doesn't know? Sure. So BuzzSprout is a podcast hosting service. We'll get your podcast online and then help it get distributed to all the popular directories like Spotify and Google and Apple and all of those. So we host all of your audio files and all of that data in your in your Buzz Sprout account. What is your role at Buzz Sprout? Yeah. So I am on the customer support, customer happiness team. And so basically all day, I just work with our podcasters and our users and I answer questions. and I help them get everything set up and ready to launch. And then as their podcasting, I, you know, help with technical issues and all kinds of questions around podcasting. Yeah, you're one of the primary reasons that I actually moved over to Busborough. Oh my gosh.
Starting point is 00:03:04 Because I love the customer service team. I love to hear that. Yeah, yeah. I had started to meet you got your team at some podcasting conferences a few years ago. And then, yeah, just started following you guys. And, yeah, I was just very happy with you. So I moved one of my podcasts over a few months ago. Our support team is small, but we are super dedicated.
Starting point is 00:03:28 And our goal is just to always, you know, we want our users to feel like they're part of a community and part of like a family. And so, you know, we never want you to feel like you're writing into the support team and just getting a, you know, a stock answer or anything. So it's always nice to hear people that have good interactions with the support team because that's our, you know, that's our main goal is to make you feel like you know us a little bit. Yeah. Well, you guys are very friendly and I think that matters. There's still this day that I think is surprising that there's like customer service people who are very like snarky or like you said stock answer. And it's not it's not the warm and fuzzy experience that I enjoy. And I spoke with someone at Comcast like three days ago and I was like, ooh, man, this can be rough sometimes. So so it's good. I love I love that I get to work in customer support and kind of change the way people look at customer. support, you know, especially with our users. So it's really fun. So you talk to a lot of like new podcasters, like especially the new podcasters are the ones who have like a lot of the questions. And so I wanted to have you on here to talk to you about some of like the most common questions that you get as a support person. So I guess from the very beginning, can you just talk a little bit more about why you need a podcast
Starting point is 00:04:45 media host? Yeah. A lot of people or some people and I actually have a friend. who's starting a podcast and she brought this question up to me too. She was like, well, why would I want to be with a host? I can just do it on my own. I can create my own RSS feed and, you know, take care of this on my own end. And so she and I were kind of talking through it. And so I'll use that as kind of a jumping off point. But basically what your host is going to do that you won't get on your own is we're going to provide this like extra support for you. So you could create an RSS feed on your own. And I'll explain what an RSS feed is. I don't know if that's an unknown term to some people, I'm sure it is. So your RSS feed is a page essentially just of data. Sometimes it'll
Starting point is 00:05:28 look like a page of code. And that holds all the information for your podcast. And that's what directories and different platforms, listening platforms, are going to use to update your podcast. And so you have to have one of those RSS feeds in order to be listed on those major platforms or any platforms, really. So we provide you with that RSS feed and handle all of that technical for you, so you don't have to worry about any of that. It's technically something you could do on your own, but it does require a bit more of technical focus. That sounds so complicated. I mean, is your friend just like a tech genius who likes to code for fun? That sounds crazy to me. She's not. She is in website design, and so she had a little bit of knowledge, and I basically told her
Starting point is 00:06:12 what I just told you, and she was like, oh yeah, never mind. Never mind. I don't want to do it. And part of the reason having a host is really lovely is that you're getting, you're getting this RSS feed, which, again, technically you could do on your own, but you don't want to spend all this time focusing on the tech and the RSS feed and all of that when you're creating episodes and editing them and, you know, focusing on all this awesome content you're creating. And so we take care of that for you. So a hosting service is going to do all of that, that tech behind the scenes for you, so you don't have to spend all of your valuable time doing that.
Starting point is 00:06:44 So in addition to kind of getting an RSS feed through a host, you're also going to get access to all of these directories really, really easily. So I'll speak to Buzz Brought specifically, but when you upload an episode into BuzzBrought, you want to get it out to Apple, right? And a lot of people will write in and they'll say, okay, I'm uploaded, but now how do my listeners find my episode? It's live, but I can't. It's not on any of the apps. And so what you'll have to do first is go into your Buzz Brought account and submit to all of those directories. And so within a hosting platform and within Buzz Brought, there's usually a page where you can go in and submit really, really easily to all of those online directories. And so for us, it's like, it's called the directories page. You go in at a list like, I think it's like, I think we have like 10 to 15 directories in there right now quite a bit.
Starting point is 00:07:40 And so you click into each one, most of them are just one click of a button to submit. Some of them are a little bit, you know, a couple steps. But you submit the first time, it sometimes can take a little while to get approved. And then after that, you don't have to touch it again. And every time you upload or make any change in BuzzBrought, that will automatically update on those listings that you've got through those directories and the platforms. So that's a huge help using a host to kind of handle all of that for you and to pay for the, hosting of all your audio files and all of that. Yeah, I just want to reiterate before we move on, just recap what you said. So your RSS feed is just like this subscription that that's what people
Starting point is 00:08:21 can subscribe to to get your podcasts. And it's the connector to the different directories. So as you said, you're not uploading to Apple Podcasts every week. You're only uploading to your podcast media host. And then the directories like Apple Podcasts can pull your new content from the RSS feed. And that's how that mechanics work. Yes, absolutely. Yeah. I always think of the host, your hosting platform as kind of the hub for all of your information. And then all of those platforms look to that host to get all the information for your listings. So yeah, exactly what you said. And then the other, the last reason or the last like main point that I would recommend using a host is because you're getting a ton of support and you're getting a ton of features. Depending on the host you use,
Starting point is 00:09:09 the features are going to be different. So I'll just speak to BuzzSpout features. But if you were to use BuzzSpraut, you would get things like transcriptions and embed players and chapter markers. You get awesome stats. We just rolled out a few months ago, some advanced stats in Buzz Sprout. We have features like Visual Soundbites that will allow you to create these little videos to upload to your social media platforms for promoting. We have an affiliate marketplace that you can use. So there's a bunch of these features included in your account.
Starting point is 00:09:43 It really helps enhance the experience for you as a podcaster without having to go to all of these different services and sign up for all of these different things in order to get that information. And all of that is in your account for, I mean, like for Buzzsprout, it's $12 a month. Yeah. And as you mentioned, I really like the embed player, which you can put on your own blog posts that support your specific episodes. but you also, for people, if they don't have a website yet, you guys provide like a little podcast website, right? Yeah, yeah, we do. So we have a, every account comes with a really simple podcast website, and we recommend that people start with that. A lot of people think that they need to start by creating a new website for themselves, and you absolutely can.
Starting point is 00:10:28 But we have a Buzz Sprout website that we've created for you. It's not super, super customizable, but it allows you to customize a bit. and to get it in line with your podcast look and feel. And then we take care of that. So you don't have to worry about managing a website right off the bat. You can focus on episodes. And as you get comfortable with making your episodes and start building your audience, then you can look into creating a website to go with your podcast.
Starting point is 00:10:52 What other questions are new podcasts you're sending your way? So we were kind of talking about it a little bit. But directories, so a lot of times, I think it's probably the biggest question we get in support. is do I have to submit to directories? Do you do that for me? How often do they update? I just made a change in my description. Do I have to go now and change that in my Apple account? How do I, you know, how do I get all this to work? It's really simple. First off, you have to submit the first episode on your own to all of the different platforms. And I say on your own, you're not doing it on your own because you're doing it in Buzz Brought. And we've created this whole page
Starting point is 00:11:35 that walks you through it and everything's linked already. So you're really, it's really easy one step and you're done. But you have to kind of do that on your own. So it can take, I mean, really 10 minutes to get submitted to a bunch of directories. Once you're submitted, you usually have to wait a period of time to get approved. And so that can be up to two weeks. Apple kind of reserves two weeks to approve a podcast. They don't always take two weeks.
Starting point is 00:12:01 But you kind of want to give yourself a two week buffer just so that you have enough time to get listed on most directories. And then once you've done that and you've gotten approved, Buzz Sprout takes it from there. And so every time you upload an episode to Buzz Sprout, within 24 hours, it'll show on your listing. And so that's a big question of when my episode's been uploaded, why is it not showing in my listing yet?
Starting point is 00:12:23 And so you have to remember that the way that Buzz Sprout or the way that Apple works is they pull from that RSS feed that we were talking about earlier. So they are not constantly hitting that RSS feed looking for information. or for new episodes, instead they hit it about once a day, about once every 24 hours. So if you were to publish a podcast at 5 a.m. and they had looked at your RSS feedlas and refresh your page at 4.30 a.m. then it might be a little while before you're going to see your
Starting point is 00:12:53 episode show up until they refresh again. But then sometimes if you upload at 5 and they look at 5.30, then you'll see it really quickly. So it's kind of, it's hard to really tell you exactly when it's going to show up on your listing. But one thing that's really, I mean, I know that can sound annoying. Like, why would I upload an episode at 6 a.m. and it not show up until that night. What's the point of scheduling it for a time? So I get that. And that comes in a lot too, is this kind of confusion about, well, what's the point of scheduling it? But the thing to remember is that your subscribers don't go through your listing. Once someone subscribes to your podcast, they're looking at your RSS feed right away. And they update on a different schedule than your
Starting point is 00:13:35 public listing does. So your subscribers get your episodes much, much, much quicker. They're refreshing depends on when the app that they're using refreshes. And usually that's within an hour or so, if not sooner than that. So the people who are going to want your episode right when you put it live, they'll get it right away. The only place that won't get it is going to be your listings. And they're going to be people who are just kind of looking for a new podcast and they won't know if there's a new episode that was supposed to be launched that morning that's not showing yet. So that's kind of like the biggest question is, why is my podcast not showing on my listing yet? And you mentioned that, okay, well, what if I need to make a change?
Starting point is 00:14:17 Yeah. It's the same. It's the same. Yeah. So you'd make any change within Buzz Brow. You make it once. And then it will update on all of your listings. So, and again, within that 24-hour window, some listings update more often.
Starting point is 00:14:33 So Spotify, I think they update every three to four hours. So you might see, like if you change your title in Buzzsprout, you might see that title change in Spotify within an hour or two. And then you might not see it happen in Apple for several hours. But you only have to make the change once. And then it'll apply to all of your listings within 24 hours. Excellent. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:57 All right. What else are they asking you? Let's see. What else? What else? of my show. How do I make my sound quality better or how do I improve my sound quality? And I will preface this by saying I am not a sound wizard. I am learning a ton being on the support team, but it is not my, you know, when we get deep into the weeds of the tech stuff, I usually call in,
Starting point is 00:15:23 you know, Albin or Travis or Kevin, my tech guys to be like, hey guys, help me out with this. but I know, of course, you know, the basic things to recommend to get good quality sound in your recordings. And the first thing I want to kind of make really clear is that your sound should sound good. But if your sound sounds awesome and your content is lacking, people aren't going to listen to your show as much. People are much more likely to listen to a show that has great content, even if the sound is not perfect. So if you're out there trying to decide whether you want to post your first episode that doesn't sound great, go ahead and post it. Do not let the sound quality be the reason that you don't start your podcast because you will get better as you keep podcasting with the sound. You'll figure out what works.
Starting point is 00:16:15 You'll learn a ton of stuff. But your first episode might not sound perfect and that's okay. And a lot of first episodes don't sound perfect. So I just want to make that really clear. Sound is important, but it's not like the end-all be-all. It's not the most important thing about your podcast. That's definitely true, although it's not difficult to get good sound quality. It's absolutely not. I mean, I'm right now in my living room with blankets up around me and a microphone propped up on a couple books. So, you know.
Starting point is 00:16:43 What do you have the blanket straped on? Lamps and my television. I think it's working really, really well. I'm so glad. Because, I mean, I've made pillow sports. before and you're not in a pillow for you. I'm not. Normally at a desk just with like your own little booth created by sheets. I created what surrounding me right now is I bought some clothing racks and then I just hung duvets on them. Oh, nice. And that and that works well as well. See, you don't need to spend
Starting point is 00:17:12 like a thousand dollars on sound treatment. No, I have a ton of throws in my house and right now I'm using all of them, which, you know, they're finally being put to good use. So there are a couple things that you can do to make sure your sound quality is as good as it can be before you start recording. So if you think about recording and you go, okay, I'll deal with the sound after I'm done with the episode, you're going to kind of give yourself a bit of a handicap. What you want to do is you want to think about your sound before you even start recording because that can set you up for so much success. So there are a couple things to do. We just talked about blankets and throws and things like that. So you want to have, be in a room that has carpet, that has lots of soft surfaces
Starting point is 00:17:57 to absorb sound. So if you can't be in a soundproof room, then that will help a lot to absorb the sound and to remove any outside noises. Another thing you'll want to do is get a dynamic microphone. So the dynamic microphone is going to help minimizing your background noise, but don't think of that as being the super expensive microphone. It can be pretty inexpensive. and still do a really good job. What are you using right now? This is an ATR 2100 X. Got one of the new ones.
Starting point is 00:18:28 I used to use an ATR 2100. Now I'm on the Simpson Q2U. Yeah. Which, and I like it quite a bit. So you're the ATR 2100 X. Is that what the new one is called X? Yes. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:41 Yeah. That was more expensive than the ATR 2100 used to me. It is. Yeah, it is. And I think we recommend the one that you are using as far as like a good quality inexpensive microphone goes, I'm borrowing this one. I didn't have this at my house, so I'm borrowing it because I wanted to give you really good sound. Well, it sounds great. And I just want to say that choosing a microphone is something that holds a lot of people up. They spend unnecessary weeks.
Starting point is 00:19:08 Just pick one of the ones that we're talking about right now and then be done with it. Don't waste your mind space on choosing a mic. No, it's not worth it because you only have so much mind space, like you said. And really what you want to put that toward is content. You know, you don't want to spend weeks and weeks worrying about a microphone. You want to spend that time worrying about what you're going to talk about and what your, you know, views on things are. So I would definitely say, agree with you, don't spend tons of time on a mic. It's not worth it. Yeah. Well, you mentioned content. And I was surprised that you told me before we started talking that people have asked you, like written into you as a support person, saying, you know, how do I pick a topic? And I'm surprised that these questions were coming into support. Yeah. Well, I think some people, they learn about podcasting and they go, oh my gosh, that sounds so much fun. I want to make a podcast. So then they figure out how to do it. And then they sign up with a host. And then they go, what am I going to talk about? So we do occasionally get a, you know, what do I talk about? How do I pick my topic? Or this is the topic I have. What do you, what do you think?
Starting point is 00:20:17 think about it. You think this is good? Do you think people are going to listen? And so what I always tell people is to pick something you're super passionate about because you're going to be talking about this a lot. And you're going to be really spending a lot of time deep diving into this topic. So you want to make sure that whatever it is, it's something that you really truly love. And it's something that you're willing to spend a ton of time talking about. And then in addition to that, you're going to go in and out of these like hills and valleys of needing more motivation. And so if this is already something that you really truly love, that's just going to give you a step up when you get into that time where you're like, man, I don't really want to record this afternoon. If it's something you truly
Starting point is 00:20:56 love to talk about, then it'll be much easier to get yourself motivated to keep going. So that's kind of always what I tell people when it comes to, oh, do you like this topic? I go, it doesn't really matter if I like the topic. Do you like the topic? Yeah. So, yeah, you know, you know, need to like it for at least 52 episodes at least at least i agree um i'm a big taylor swift fan and i've kind of started working on this podcast about taylor swift songs and deep diving into her songs and i could talk about taylor swift music all day every day and so i'm you know i feel like that's a great topic for me yeah that would be a good niche because podcasts can be quite tribal right like people love to find their tribe and tune in again and again and
Starting point is 00:21:42 So I'm sure you will have lots of success with Taylor Swift. I'm sure. It's kind of on pause because of COVID and my host or my co-host is getting married. And so once that's all finished, then we'll get back in the studio and keep recording. Oh, so you want to have a co-host? Yes. So I have a co-host for this. He and I grew up together and have been huge Taylor Swift fans for years and years and years.
Starting point is 00:22:09 So literally it's just listening to our conversations about our thoughts. about Taylor Swift songs that we mostly are recording for ourselves. Oh, that's so funny. Yeah. And then it's a lot of fun. And then hopefully other people will be entertained as well. Yes. And again, though, I'm, you know, I'll tell people this too.
Starting point is 00:22:27 I'm not really creating a podcast for other people. As much as I know there are definitely a ton of podcasts out there that are geared toward educating and, you know, and giving awesome knowledge to people. There are also a lot of podcasts out there that are just hobbies. and for fun. And so if that's what you're looking for, you know, don't worry too much about if you have such a huge audience or, you know, this huge following of people. If you're doing it and you love it and you're proud of the content you're creating, then that's enough, in my opinion. Yeah. Well, you mentioned an important thing about knowing your why. Like, you already know
Starting point is 00:23:03 upfront why you're doing it. You want to do it as a bonding experience with your friend. Yeah. It sounds like. And if other people are into it, that's cool. But it's mostly like a special project for you guys. Absolutely. Yeah. So let's see. What other questions do I have here? So another one that comes in a lot is people want to know how to get paid for podcasting. So a lot of times the podcasts that we listen to are kind of bigger podcasts that have ads in there. And so there's obviously people making some money off of this podcasting. And so when you get into podcasting, if you're new to it, you might just assume, oh, well, I'm going to start making money right away. And so people will write in to support and say, okay, how do I start making money? Who pays me?
Starting point is 00:23:46 And so what I always try to remind our users is kind of the same thing we were just talking about. Don't focus on the money right off the bat. Focus on the fun. Focus on why you're doing it. And then as you get going and as you get comfortable with that process, then you can kind of switch into monetization mode. And you can look into getting sponsors and things like that. And a few months ago now, I think it was months ago. It's crazy how the quarantine has changed my view of time. But a few months ago, we released an affiliate marketplace. And so that is within your BuzzBred account.
Starting point is 00:24:22 And you can go in there and we have set up relationships with a handful of brands. And so you can get accepted by these different affiliates and start using promo codes, your own personal links, affiliate links or codes to get to offer these kinds. kind of deals to your users and then you'd get a commission from that. And so that way you're able to make some money off of it. You're able to do some monetizing without being so focused on getting ads dropped into your account or into your episodes and things like that. So that's a really great feature. That's usually where I steer people start there. It's a great place to start to get you hooked up with a bunch of brands. Yeah. And I did an episode on affiliate marketing
Starting point is 00:25:04 a few episodes ago. So people can go back and listen. to that. But yeah, I think affiliate marketing is just the easiest way to get started. It's so much easier than, well, traditional sponsorship is just horrible for regular podcasters. It doesn't make any financial sense. And then even if you do your own
Starting point is 00:25:22 bespoke sponsorship, which could be a fun experience, but then you've got the added stress of you have to deliver for that sponsor. And there's just all of these other responsibilities. So it depends on it depends on how much extra work
Starting point is 00:25:37 you want to make for yourself, I guess. Yep. And I feel like with affiliate marketing, one of the awesome things about podcasting is that you're creating this bond with your listeners and they're getting to know you. And so when you do affiliate marketing, it comes off way less salesy and way more like, hey, I use this awesome sunglasses brand. And so I'm going to tell you about it because I really like them instead of it being like, hey, you know, buy these glasses. You know, it's a little less salesy and it's more personal. So I find that affiliate marketing is a really good way to go. Yeah. Well, and I'm an affiliate for Buzz Sprout. So anyone who wants to support this podcast can subscribe to Buzz Sprout through my affiliate link. I love it. I love it. One other question that you
Starting point is 00:26:21 mentioned to me before was how do you change hosts? Yeah. People who sign up for a new system or for a new account, they want to know if they're going to be trapped there or if they're going to be able to leave. And so we always want to make it really clear up front that it's an easy transition, whether you're coming from a different host to Buzzsprout or if you're going from Buzz Brought to a different host, we make that super, super simple on both ends. So I'll kind of talk as if you were coming to Buzz Brought. If you decided that, hey, I like my host, but I really want some of these features that Buzz Sprout is offering, the process of moving is super simple and is almost, I mean, for the most part, your listeners won't. notice at all. So it's kind of two steps. The first step is that you would import all your data over to Buzzsprout. So the way we have it, we have an import tool in Buzzsprout that will read your RSS feed and pull in, we start by pulling in two episodes and then all of your like podcast data.
Starting point is 00:27:21 And that way you can kind of get into a free account, play around with these two episodes, see if Buzz Sprout is a good fit for you. And if it is, then you can copy in all the rest of your episodes into your account. So you don't have to like manually re-upload any episodes. It's all brought in through your RSS feed. So that process is super simple. It can take just a few minutes. The most time you'll want to spend is figuring out if Buzz Browd is a good fit. So once you get all the episodes in your account, then you'll have to do step two, which is placing a 301 redirect on your old RSS feed. So up until that point, all of your listings are still looking at your original RSS feed page to get all their information. But when you move to Buzzsprout, we give you a new RSS feed. And so you kind of have to
Starting point is 00:28:05 tell all your listings, hey, I'm over here now. I need you to look over here to get new data. And so the 301 redirect will do that. It'll put a redirect on your RSS feed. And it'll make it so all of your listings are redirecting to you new Buzz Brought RSS feed. In doing that, you don't lose, you know, listeners or subscribers. They'll all come across with the redirect. You're not having to resubmit to any listings. And so it's a really simple process that most of the time your listeners won't even notice happened because it's all happening behind the scenes. Yeah, I mean, it sounds complicated, but really it's quite easy. And you guys do a good job of like talking us through. Your stats don't come through. So if you want to keep that, then you have to export that
Starting point is 00:28:48 CSV file from your old host. That's the, that's the only drawback is that you do lose, you don't lose the stats. You just have to export them from your own host, like you said, from your old host and kind of keep them on your computer as an archive because there's no way for us to access that stats data and pull it in. But you can keep it as an archive and then you've got it on your computer if you need to go back and check old stats from when you started. Yeah. And I was worried when I moved my podcast over that. So on my website, I like to use subscription badges, which I got from James Cridland's podnews.net. He offers like this free code where you could like put subscribe, Apple Podcasts, subscribe via Google Podcasts subscribe. And I was wondering, oh gosh,
Starting point is 00:29:34 am I going to have to change all of these badges that I've been using for like two years on all of these different pages? But you don't have to. No, no, because your listing actually stays the same. It's just redirecting through to a different RSS feed. So your URLsS feed. So your URLs for all of your listings don't change. They just feed or they read a new feed with that with that 301 redirect. So it's really simple. And then the other thing too is that, you know, again, I'll say our support team is, is there and ready to help with a lot of those 301 redirect questions. It can seem super intimidating to have to apply that on your own. And so we, you know, we're there and we're ready to help you if that's something you decide to do. So it's another
Starting point is 00:30:23 reason why having a host is really nice, because if you have to move or transfer anything, to a new feed, you've got a support team in your corner that's ready to help you do it. Whether you're moving to Buzz Sprout or away will help either way. We touched on how to get a good sound quality and we talked about things to do on our own side. But it sounds like BuzzSprout is innovating a bit on the tech side of things and you just launched something called, is it magic mastering? It's called Magic Mastering. Yes, it's very fun. So Magic Mastering, yeah, we launched it like, I don't know, two months ago during quarantine. I like to tell people it's like putting an Instagram filter over your photo, but for your audio. So it's going to take your audio file and make it sound awesome.
Starting point is 00:31:09 It's going to work on the levels. There's a lot of technical stuff that goes along with magic mastering on the back end, but all you need to worry about is the fact that you're uploading your MP3 or your wave file. We're taking it in magic mastering. We're going to master it, make it sound really awesome, get the levels right, and then publish it, and you're going to, or you could schedule it to publish later, but either way, it's going to sound really awesome. And that way you're not spending your valuable mind space, right, on editing out all this background noise or dealing with your levels to get those perfect. Magic mastering handles all of that.
Starting point is 00:31:47 So it's really awesome. Yeah. So you do the editing on your side, like cutting out mistakes and things like that. But then you don't have to worry about the mastering part of it. You could just upload it to the service. Right. You're only needing to worry about editing, you know, edit out ums or any dead space or anything like that.
Starting point is 00:32:06 But as far as the sound, you know, balancing and all of that, that would be taken care of with magic mastering. Well, thank you so much for talking to me, Priscilla, about newbie podcaster questions. Yeah, you're very welcome. Thanks for having me. It was a lot of fun. Where can people find out more about you? So like we were talking about before we started recording, but I am not huge on social media.
Starting point is 00:32:29 I'm on Instagram as Pris Picks, but I don't know how much benefit you'll get from my Instagram page. But yeah, you can find BuzzBrought on Facebook and on Twitter and then check out our website. And we have a YouTube channel and a blog that are super helpful. So that's where I would start. Thank you very much, Priscilla. You're very welcome. Thanks for having me. Thank you for listening to podcasting step by step.
