How long have you been planning to launch a podcast? Six months a year maybe. It took me a while to get there as well. I've talked about that on this podcast before, how I was totally nervous about putting myself out there and put it off for a really long time. And then I also fell into this horrible research rabbit hole that just had me second-guessing myself all the time. I was totally procrastinating, looking up, what's the best mic?

Googling literally how to start a podcast and just getting way too inside of my own head because I was like, oh, that everything has to be absolutely perfect, thinking that I couldn't change anything down the road. And the thing is, we can change things all the time. We can have fun. We can experiment. So eventually I did pull myself out of that analysis paralysis. And I went on to produce several award-winning podcasts, including two of my own podcasting step-by-step. You're listening to that right now and the Postcard Academy Travel Podcast. And I want to help you as well. If you are feeling a bit stuck like I was in the beginning, you don't know where to start. I want to help you shake off that newbie struggle and help you focus on creating and growing

a show that lights you up and brings joy to others. I know it's hard to get started. I just, I remember that you've stuck feeling so well. And you do want to have a plan. You do want to have a solid foundation for your show because that's how you build your core audience who really loves you. That's how you build your influence. There's a lot of confusion and misinformation out there that's holding back a lot of aspiring podcast. I think, who have been led to believe that they need to launch with 10 episodes. And if they don't hit the front page of new and noteworthy on Apple Podcasts, then they're just going to be a horrible failure and why even bother? But here is the truth. The front page of Apple Podcasts is a

curated list. So almost nobody's going to make it on there. Like they pick you. So that's not a system to hack. And we shouldn't be trying to hack anything anyway. Like our goal should not be to get to the top of a random list because it's just a vanity metric. And statistically, those rankings don't have any long-term value for your show in terms of listeners in terms of like the audience that you're going to build. Yeah, maybe you can get some listeners being in the charts like at first, but it doesn't usually last because they're not necessarily your core audience that you're going after. And so I want to you create a podcast that listeners love and that helps you grow in a real way that's not about hacking any sort of systems to make it in Apple Podcasts.
